Thick or thin, fat or skinny, let’s embrace who we are.

Not wearing any makeup and going out barefaced can be so liberating at times. Don’t get me wrong, I love putting on a full face of makeup (foundation, contour and the whole nine yards) but I also like how I look without any makeup. The sunspots on my skin, the traces left after I breakout, my messy brows, my hair in a bun and so on. What I’m trying to say is for us women to become kinder to ourselves. to love our perfect imperfections, and to know that we are enough as is. Thick or thin, fat or skinny, let’s embrace who we are. Yes we can put on makeup and look great, but behind the makeup live the real me, the real you, the real us. Our skins change with hormones, our brows are either messy or nonexistent, and let’s face it our natural lashes never seem enough, especially after the fake eyelashes craze.

why is it that men can go out of the house as is, and some of us women, see the utter need to hide each and every pimple or its trace. I usually have 2-3 makeup free days or minimal makeup days, it’s liberating. I feel free of the norm on those days. the moral of this is for us women to go out as is so the world can greet us, just the way we were born.

you learn and relearn and because it’s so addictive, you repeat and repeat. you fall in love over and over, till the real things comes along...

sometimes

love comes

sudden, unannounced

on an impulse

it starts a blaze of fire

the heat

leaves a pleasing lingering

burn

like aged whisky

does to throat

the flames slowly abate

turning into a pile of ash

the ashes make a storm of dust

tears well-up in eyes

the crazy heart turns into a knot

and with pain

humans of this earth

learn

that this sweet myth of life,

“love”

does hurt sometimes
