Hi, guys! I'm back, trying to get out of my writing slump. I have two requests that I'm working on currently since they've been sitting in my inbox but I had the inspiration to write this first so here we are! Was this needed? Absolutely not. Was it done anyways? Yep! 😘 I hope you all love even more angst. This is part two of Good Luck, Babe! This part is based on Subway 👀. Enjoy some more pain and suffering. Part 1 Flower Asks Hozier Asks Taylor Swift Asks Masterlist Rules Taglist Request Characters: Nami, Fem!Reader, Sanji, Straw Hats (mentioned), Nico Robin, Arlong (mentioned) Pairing: Nami x Fem!Reader, Nami x Sanji (one-sided), Nico Robin x Fem!Reader TW: Comphet. There may be more but that's all I can think of. Tell me if there's more!
Subway
.·:·.✧ ✦✧.·:·.
Being in love with someone you feel you shouldn't be in love with is hard. It's even harder when you realize they were exactly what you needed. If there was one thing that Nami wished she'd done different, it would be how she dealt with you.
She was scared. She knew how people felt about a girl being in love with another girl. She knew it was the ramblings of people who didn't truly understand, but somewhere inside her, it still felt wrong. She internalized those words she heard and couldn't let them go even when there was no reason to keep holding on.
Never was there a moment where Nami felt like she was in love with someone. Sure, she flirted with men to gain things she wanted. But that was never love, far from even liking. That changed when she met you. You were so much different than anyone she'd ever met. You were such a free soul and that was something she aspired to be. She admired you in a way. You felt how she wanted to feel. She was stuck with Arlong for so long that she didn't know how to let go. But you did.
That admiration turned into so much more. It grew after Arlong was defeated. She no longer felt like she couldn't get close to anyone. She pushed herself to be closer to you. There was a feeling in her chest and stomach that felt like the fluttering of wings. It felt good. She chased that feeling.
It didn't take long for her to realize just what the feeling was. As soon as Nami realized that she was in love with you, she couldn't fathom it. She knew that one day she would fall in love, she just never thought it would be with another girl. When she found out she was in love with you, she was terrified. Not just of what you would think but about what other people may think. It wasn't something that was celebrated in some places. All those words she heard from other people about how bad it was for a girl to love another girl or a boy to love another boy had dug itself into her mind and put a stain on her heart that she couldn't scrub off no matter how much she wanted to.
To hear how she felt from you... It felt earth shattering. She didn't want to face the truth. So she denied it over and over again, even if she knew it hurt you. She just couldn't admit it to herself.
Men became more of a focus to her after that. She needed to prove to herself that what she was feeling was nothing more than feelings a friend had toward their friend. Nami needed to prove that she wasn't in love with you. Maybe things would be different if she were a boy or if you were. Neither of you were. In her mind, that meant nothing could happen.
Seeing you so sad hurt her. It killed her. Nami couldn't stand it. She wanted to rush over to you, let you know that she wasn't telling the truth. She was just scared and she was so sorry for lying and hurting you. But she couldn't. She knew that could never happen. It was soon after that she forced herself into a relationship with Sanji, anything to get her mind and thoughts away from you.
If anything, it only amplified it. She'd see you come into the kitchen and she felt like she couldn't breathe. She'd be out on the deck because she couldn't sleep and wouldn't be able to take her eyes off you whenever you walked out on the deck for some fresh air as well. Her mind told her that what she was feeling was wrong but her heart was saying something different. She didn't know what to listen to anymore.
"Aren't you so happy for them?" Sanji asked.
No, it was the exact opposite. Nami grinned at the blond man, "Yeah," She moved her gaze back to what she was looking at. It was you and her. Nico Robin. Somehow, the two of you ended up together. It felt like you were rubbing it in her face. Showing her what she missed, what she couldn't have. "Good for them." Why couldn't that be her?
Somehow that one moment caused problems for her. Sanji was an idiot sometimes, but he wasn't entirely stupid. He caught onto Nami's feelings toward you. There was one night when he and Nami were in the kitchen and he couldn't hold back anymore.
"Let's break up." The statement came from nowhere.
Blinking, Nami looked up at him with surprise, "What do you mean?"
He gave her a smile, though it was more forced than anything, "I don't like playing second best," Nami looked confused by his words. "Come on, I've noticed. I know how you feel about her."
"I don't feel anything toward [Y/N]."
"I never said her name."
That was the end of their short relationship. That was also the turning point for Nami. She realized that she couldn't let you go anymore. She needed to try to get you back.
It was dark on the deck of the Going Merry. Nami and you sat in silence. That's how it usually was after everything happened between you two. When you were left alone together, you would either exchange small talk or you both would sit in an uncomfortable silence. You had a feeling that this time was different.
You had no idea what to think when Nami suddenly said, "Be with me."
Your head whipped around to look at her, "What?" You felt breathless. All those times you wished she'd say that to you and here she was no, saying it. It felt unreal, like this was a dream. No, it was a nightmare.
"You can't be serious about Robin," Nami leaned forward, looking you in the eyes with intent, determination. "It's just a ploy to get me jealous, right? You don't actually like being with her."
You couldn't believe you were hearing this. You crossed your arms with narrowed eyes, filling with question, "And what if I am?" Nami wasn't sure what to say. She was expecting you to break. Come out with the truth and the two of you could live happily ever after. Not this. "Nami, you had your chance. Multiple times. You were the one who said you didn't like me. You have to live with the consequences." That was all you wanted to say. You started to walk back to your cabin.
Before you could even get three feet away, Nami called out, "So this is all about punishing me then?" You turned to see her staring at you still. She looked upset, there was a hurt in her eyes that she tried to not let show on the rest of her face. "You want me to say sorry for rejecting you the first time? Well, guess, what? I'm sorry. I really am. I just didn't want to admit that I could like-" She couldn't finish the sentence.
It was then that you fully turned to her, "Say it." You knew she needed this more than you.
"I didn't know I could like... a girl. You know?" Nami pursed her lips, waiting for whatever reply you gave her.
It felt invigorating to know you weren't crazy. You finally knew that she felt the same way you did back then. You knew you weren't misreading signals like she said. You couldn't bring yourself to smile at this. It was just another stab of pain in your heart. Another stab caused by Nami.
"I'm happy for you," You nodded slowly. "You can finally admit it... And I hope that whatever girl you get with is very happy. But it's not gonna be me." You left with those final words.
Nami would live with the pain of knowing you were the one who got away.

OMG BLESS YOU FOR YOUR WORK HERE 😭💘💘 I'm starving for more Nami fics as well and I'm so glad I found you. Plus your writing is delightful omg. <3
I just have to drop by and make a request of my own now 🥺 could I please please have some Nami hurt/comfort? I feel like she needs it so much. I was thinking of something along the lines of right after the ending of season 1, Nami has had feelings for the reader for quite some time now but was too scared to act on it, especially because she was afraid of what Arlong might do if he found out she cares about someone. And now that she's finally free of Arlong, Nami realizes that she doesn't know what to do, because she never had something real like that, someone she cares about and actually wants to do things right with. Nami thinks the reader wouldn't reciprocate her feelings, so she's basically in this state of admiring and longing from a distance, until maybe something happens and they are alone together, and the reader is being all soft and gentle with Nami (insert Nami being touch starved here because I jus know she is), and Nami gets like, all emotional 🥺 and the reader is worried and asks what's wrong, if she did something wrong; and Nami finally admits that "I'm sorry I don't know how to do this, but I like you so much"; and then just Nami getting all the hugs, kisses, love, and reassurance that she so deserves. ❤️
I'm sorry that was a little big 😭 you can change anything you want, I'd just love some angst/hurt/comfort with her. Thank you so much already. <3
Hi! And thank you so much! I was tired of the lack of Nami fics and couldn't stand it anymore. I needed content and I was going to make it myself if I had to 😭. Don't worry about it being long, it actually gives me a lot more to go on when writing so I don't mind it! I would be more than happy to write this for you so I hope you like it! This felt like more of a headcanon request to me so I wrote this has a headcanon post. If you want an imagine/oneshot instead, message me and I'll rewrite it! Also, this has some minor spoilers for the Alabasta arc so if you don't want to be spoiled for it if you're not far then I would advise that you don't read this. Flower Asks Hozier Asks Taylor Swift Asks Masterlist Rules Taglist Request Characters: Nami, Fem!Reader, Arlong (mentioned), Strawhats (mentioned), Vivi (mentioned), Dr. Kureha (mentioned), Chopper (mentioned) Pairing: Nami x Fem!Reader TW: Trauma, fears of one-sided feelings, angst. That's all I can think of but tell me if there's more!
The Art of Pining
.·:·.✧ ✦✧.·:·.
The last thing Nami needed was to fall in love. Her life was too stressful and too dangerous to have any kind of relationship. Being forced to work with Arlong to buy back her village would do that to a person. But, somehow, some way, she ended up falling in love with you.
She tried to deny it. She really did. But it was impossible for her to deny being in love with someone as amazing and beautiful as you. You had somehow captured her heart in a way no one ever had, despite not even knowing each other for that long.
Guilt was mostly what she felt when she realized there was no pushing those feelings down. She felt guilty for unintentionally putting you in a risky situation. She felt guilty for not being able to deny herself of something she really wanted to keep you safe. Still, either way, there was no way she could be with you. Not with Arlong still around. Especially not while she was working with him.
There was a part of her that was worried about what you would think when you found out she was only going to betray you and the others when the time came. She only joined up with the crew to have her hands on the map of the Grand Line. If she got some money and jewels along the way, it was a bonus. There was still a tremendous amount of remorse she felt. The last thing she wanted to do was hurt you. But that was what was needed to keep you safe.
So, she revealed herself to be working with Arlong during Luffy’s fight with him at the Baratie. She couldn’t bring herself to look at you. She could already feel the look of betrayal and hurt on your face without even facing you. A pang was sent through her heart at just the thought of seeing that expression so she avoided looking at it altogether. Still, as she was walking back to Arlong’s ship, she managed to catch the smallest glimpse of you. The look you were giving her was one that would be seared into her mind for as long as she lived.
Quickly, she covered up the feelings she had let slip through onto her face. She didn’t need Arlong to be suspicious of her. That would only put you in danger if he found out about her feelings toward you.
She honestly didn’t expect to see you again after that. She thought that you and the others would walk the other way, licking their wounds, hating her for doing what she did to them. She was more than shocked when she showed up at Coco Village just to see you and the others there. Nothing could stop the panic that she felt upon seeing you there. This was too close to Arlong. You were too close to him. This would get you hurt.
So she did what she had to do. She said whatever she could to make you guys angry or sad enough to leave her alone. She put as much false hatred into her words as she could to get the point across… But you all just wouldn’t leave.
After Arlong worked with the Marines to take the gold she had been stashing, she thought that was the end. But as she lay broken on the ground, knife in her hand, wound on her shoulder where Arlong’s symbol was etched, she was met with you and Luffy. Both of you staring at her with no judgment, understanding was in your eyes. While Luffy was the first to take off to fight Arlong, you stayed behind to tend to her. You treated her wound as gently as you could and gave her all the care that she had been lacking. What a horrible time to feel as she did toward you.
To her shock, Arlong managed to be defeated by Luffy. For the first time in a long time, Nami was free from him. She could do whatever she wanted, go wherever she wanted, and speak with whoever she wanted without fear of having to leave them behind.
You’d think that with this opportunity, she would go for it with you. She would try to see where things landed and tell you how she felt. None of the sort happened. Something inside her still stopped her. The threat was no longer there so why did she hesitate?
It was fear. She was scared that you resented her for betraying the crew like she did. She was afraid that if she told you how she felt, you would laugh in her face and reject her. Nami had never felt love and care since Bellemere died. All she had been met with was manipulation and abuse. What if she put herself out there only to get hurt in the end?
Time passed and she still couldn’t bring herself to tell you how she felt. Eventually, the crew met a princess named Vivi whose country was falling apart. The crew agreed to help her. Everything started out rocky but seemed to get even worse when Nami got sick. Everyone was worried for her, but you seemed especially worried.
Nami was in and out of consciousness the whole time. But every time she would regain consciousness, you would be there, taking care of her. It was almost like she never left her side. Then, when she woke up in Dr. Kureha’s castle, she found you asleep at her bedside. That’s when she found out that you had, in fact, never left her side.
You took care of her while she was unconscious. The others had to beg you to get something to eat, to shower, or to at least sleep in your own bed. When they had to take Nami up the mountains of the Drum Island, you were one of the first ones to volunteer to come along. When they said you couldn’t come, you snuck your way with them, joining them and not listening to them when they said to go back. They got too tired of fighting with you and it was already too late at that point so they relented.
It warmed her heart to hear everything that you did for her. It made her wonder if you did actually feel something toward her. She could’ve been connecting dots that weren’t actually there, but a small part of her hoped that it was true.
So when you woke up, she took the chance. Dr. Kureha could sense that it was an intimate moment so she left you alone and had Chopper tend to the other two so you could be alone. You were thrilled to see her awake and fine, you practically tackled her in the biggest hug.
When Nami finally managed to get a word in (you fretted over her for the first few minutes, it was hard to get a word in), she spilled her feelings. She told you she didn’t know how to say it but she loved you and she has been in love with you for as long as she’s known you. No matter how much she tried to tell herself she didn’t, she couldn’t deny it.
It was silent once she was finished. She was worried that she did make up everything. That was until you leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on her lips. When you pulled away, you locked eyes with her and said one thing, “I was waiting for the day you would say that.”

Your life was boring. It was as simple as that. You were the daughter of people in high society. From a young age, you were forced to take classes on etiquette and politics, along with all the other dull subjects. When you weren’t taking classes, you were attending parties and being forced to interact with people you’ve never met. Almost all of them attempting to set you up with their son to try to gain some status. Like that would ever happen.
Tonight was like any other night. There was a party happening in your parents' big mansion. You were forced into a poofy dress with your makeup and hair done. Your parents had been throwing a lot of parties lately. They acted like it was for no apparent reason but to spend time with their friends. You knew exactly what it was. You overheard them talking about how they needed to find you a suitor. “All girls her age are engaged already so she should be too!” That was your father’s exact words.
You were entirely against the idea. As soon as the party started, your parents tried to introduce you to all the available men who showed up. They weren’t fast enough to catch you though. You were already tucked into a corner on a balcony where no one would be able to find you unless they stumbled upon you accidentally. You doubted that would happen. It rarely ever did when you hid away like this.
There was something about tonight that was different. Someone did stumble upon you. A girl with orange hair. You were almost as shocked as she was. The two of you just stood there staring at each other, waiting for the other to do something. Your eyes fell onto the bag that she was holding. It was full of something. If you had to guess, this woman was probably a thief.
Any other person would’ve shouted for one of the guards. They would’ve tried to stop the thief themselves. You were not any other person. This had to be the most interesting thing to happen to you in all your years of life. Your shocked expression turned into a grin, “Well, hello, miss thief.”
“Thief?” The girl questioned. She shot a look at the bag she was holding and hid it slightly behind her. She slapped a smile on her face and rubbed the back of her head with a sheepish expression, “Oh, no, I gave the wrong impression, didn’t I? This is just trash. I’m one of the janitors here.”
You hummed. You weren’t convinced. You prided yourself in knowing all the staff who worked for your parents. They were probably the realest people out of all the ones you’ve interacted with. People of the lower class usually were the most genuine. You crossed your arms, “Really now? I thought my parents weren’t hiring anyone else. After all, we have about 30 people on staff at the moment. I always said it was a bit overkill,” Those words seemed to catch the girl off guard. You found yourself laughing. The girl was confused. Why weren’t you shouting for someone to take her away? You waved off her concern, “Don’t worry, I’m not saying anything. This party is too dull. Giving you away would take away the only entertainment I’ve had all night,” Hearing this made the girl relax slightly. She was still on her guard. “My name’s Y/N. You?”
“Nami.”
“Nice name. It means wave,” You spouted out. Pretty girls did this to you. You had a tendency to say whatever was on your mind every time you saw one. The girl, Nami, raised an eyebrow at this. You shifted a little nervously, all that false confidence from before fading away. “I do a lot of reading,” No response was given to you by Nami. The two of you fell into awkward silence once more. Neither girl could force themselves to leave the awkward conversation. There was something about the other that drew them in. You gathered together you thoughts and asked the first thing that came to mind, “So what is it like?” Nami shot a look at you, showing you she didn’t know what you meant. “Being a thief. It seems like it would be fun.”
There was no way Nami was having this conversation right now. This had to be the most strange conversation she's ever had. Still, she chose to indulge the girl, “It’s okay. I like money so that part’s nice.”
You hummed, nodding. After a moment, you found yourself saying, “I don’t like money. I have too much of it. I don’t need it. All the responsibility that comes with it is also a downside. If I had a choice,” You looked up at the night sky. Nami could’ve sworn that she saw stars in your eyes. They looked exactly like the stars that lit up the sky. “I would leave this place. I would travel the world. No one to tell me what to do. No one to tell me that I need to get married. All I would have is myself and the vast ocean below me.” A sincere smile appeared on your face. You’ve smiled more talking with Nami than you ever had at one of these parties.
Those words reminded Nami of herself. She too wished that she could leave behind all the responsibilities that she had. In her situation, it was basically impossible. She needed to buy back Coco Village, that was the most important thing. But this girl didn’t have any of that to worry about. Nami placed the bag of gold and riches on the ground. She walked over and joined the girl at the edge of the balcony, “Then do it.”
“What?”
“Leave this place,” Nami stated. There was a small grin on her face. “Travel the world. You don’t look like you enjoy staying here too much so just go.” It was a nice thought. Leaving behind this place, your controlling your parents, the parties, and the fake people. Being able to go wherever you wanted and do whatever you wanted. It was a dream.
You turned to the girl with a mischievous glint in your eye, “Then take me with you.”
That took Nami aback, “Wha-”
“You said it yourself,” You shot a glance back at the party. Through one of the many windows, you could catch your parents looking around the ballroom. You wouldn’t be too surprised if it was you that they were looking for. You turned your attention back to Nami, “I should leave here. You’re planning on leaving here too. So why don’t you just take me with you?”
“I can’t,” Nami was snapped back into reality after that demand. She went back to her bag of gold and riches and picked it up. She hauled it over her shoulder and gave the girl a stern look, “You can leave, that’s fine. But you can’t leave with me.” With those final words, Nami jumped off the balcony. You leaned forward in alarm. Instead of seeing a splat on the ground, you saw her land in a crouched position before she ran off into the night. You pursed your lips in disappointment as you watched her get farther and farther away.
After the encounter, all you could think about was her. You kept daydreaming about what it would’ve been like to leave with her. You could be free from all the stress you were under every day. You would have someone to talk to who wasn’t just being nice to you because they had to. Someone who was genuine with you. You keep hoping she will show up on the balcony again, telling you to come away with her. Every party after that one, you would wait for her to miraculously show up again. This didn’t happen but it was nice to dream. Well, it was nice to dream until it kept you up at night like this whole situation was.
It took a lot of courage, but you did eventually leave. You could imagine how livid your parents were when they found a note on your vanity telling them that you’d left. You headed out into town and went straight for the dock. You paid off a group of sailors to let them on board their ship and you were finally off. You would finally be able to travel the world like you wanted to.
During your travels, you find yourself thinking about Nami every once in a while. You were starting to think you were crushing on her. Maybe that’s why you wanted to leave with her so badly. Either way, you hoped that one day your paths would cross once again.
And they indeed did. You eventually got a boat of your own and taught yourself how to navigate, along with how to operate a boat. It was a little tricky and you ended up in the middle of nowhere a few times but you finally got the hang of it. You’re not sure how many months had passed since you last saw Nami. But it all seemed worth it when you ended up at a random town in the East Blue called Coco Village. You found yourself bumping into her again after what felt like forever.
The both of you were shocked to find the other standing in front of them. Your shocked expression quickly turned into one of ecstatic joy. Nami had changed since the last time you saw her. She didn’t seem so burdened anymore. She looked like a weight had been taken off her shoulders. Just like you were happy to see her, Nami looked happy as well.
There was one thing you kept repeating in your head as you stared at her, “Please don’t be in love with someone else. Please don’t have somebody waiting on you.” To your luck, she didn’t.

IT'S HERE! WELCOME TO THE NAMI FIC THAT EVERYONE (literally just me) HAS BEEN WAITING FOR. I am being straight up when I say that writing this was: 87% vibing to Chappell Roan and singing along. And 13% actually writing. You can find my Flower Asks here, Hozier Asks here, and my Taylor Swift Asks here. You can find my masterlist here and my rules here. I also have a taglist now and you can find that here! And you can request here! Characters: Nami, Fem!Reader, Sanji (mentioned), Zoro, Straw Hats (mentioned) Pairings: Nami x Fem!Reader, Nami x Sanji (one-sided) TW: Comphet. There may be more but that's all I can think of. Tell me if there's more!
Good Luck, Babe!
.·:·.✧ ✦✧.·:·.
There was one kind of relationship that killed people to be in. The will they, won’t they one where they don’t want to admit their feelings but know what they feel. It was one of the relationships you never wanted to be in and was annoying to see in the media. Why can’t the two just be together? Why all this back and forth? Just have them get together already and be done with it. It wasn’t that hard, right? Wrong. You were so wrong. So horrendously wrong that it was laughable. Because you, my dear girl, are in that exact situation.
You have been aware that you liked girls for a while. It was hard to admit at first but when you finally embraced it, everything seemed to fall into place. You didn’t beat yourself up for falling behind in love anymore. You didn’t wonder why it was so hard to be like everybody else and have that guy that they’re always showing you in books. You realized that you were comparing yourself in a way that you were never going to win. Anyway, you like girls. You knew that. You were great.
What was horrible about it was when the girl you liked was going through exactly what you went through before you realized. You were in love with Nami of the Straw Hat Pirates. The two of you met when Nami had tried to break into the military base in Shells Town to take the map of the Grand Line. Ever since then, you knew exactly what you felt toward her. You liked her. And eventually, that like turned into love.
You’re not too sure when it happened. Maybe it happened after everything with Arlong. You probably were in love with her much longer than that. But something about the events put everything into perspective for you. After you came to the realization, you did everything you could to show your affection toward the girl. You were ecstatic when she returned your affections as well.
There was only one problem. While you would outwardly tell people how much you felt toward the girl, she wouldn’t. Other people in the crew, mainly Zoro surprisingly, would ask you if you were in love with Nami. You would tell them, “With your whole heart.” You would think that Nami would reply the same with the way she acted toward you. When someone asked her, what did she say?
“Of course not. She’s just my best friend.” Cue the sound of your heart shattering.
It made you feel stupid. You were putting so much of yourself into a situation that was seemingly never going to work out for you. It was rigged from the beginning. And the person doing the rigging was exactly the person you wanted to be with. But if you asked Nami, she would say that nothing of the sort was happening. The way you treated each other was nothing more than the way friends would treat each other. It was enough to make you scoff.
There was one situation that stuck out with you the most. You were docked at a new island. You’d been docked there for a few hours but had yet to go out yourself. You were excited to take in the sights and see what all they had. While you were getting ready, a certain woman with orange hair walked into your room with a grin on her face, “Hey,” You gave her a smile and greeted her back. “You wanna go eat at this restaurant Luffy found? The others already ate so it would just be the two of us.”
The feeling of your heart racing came over you. You could feel your face heat up slightly, “Oh, really? Just the two of us?”
“Yeah, kind of like a date.” She stated casually. If only she knew the weight her words held in your mind. You were ecstatic at the thought of going out with only Nami. Maybe you could try and see where things would end.
You put on your best clothes. You put thought into what you wore and chose what perfume you would wear carefully. When you met up with Nami outside the ship, you could tell that she dressed up for the occasion as well. You smiled at each other before walking to the restaurant. You don’t know when it happened, but somehow, the two of you ended up walking hand in hand.
It didn’t take long to get there. The restaurant wasn’t too far from the docks. The two of you made yourself comfortable when you found a table You talked about whatever and anyone watching the scene couldn’t help but smile at the lightheartedness feel of the sight. A waitress walked up to your table with her own smile.
With a pen and pad in her hand, she greeted the both of you, “Well, don’t you two look pretty! Are you here for a date?”
Before you could even answer, Nami replied, “Oh, no, we’re just friends.” The smile fell off your face for a moment. Anyone watching the scene could see exactly how you felt for a fraction of a second. Not wanting to cause a scene though, you sucked it up.
“Yeah. Just friends,” You cast a glance at Nami. She was ignoring your look, focusing on the menu instead. You pursed your lips and went to look at what the place had to offer.
The awkwardness was very apparent. Everything after that felt a little strained between the two of you. That one moment had single-handedly ruined whatever moment you were having. You practically ate in silence. Only nodding and humming in response to whatever Nami had to say. You weren’t doing it to spite her. You were just hurt by the situation. You thought… Well, you guessed it didn’t matter now.
That was what you tried to tell yourself at least. When you finally left the restaurant, moments similar to the one in the restaurant swirled around in your head. You eventually came to a full stop before you could even get as far as five feet from the building. Nami noticed that you weren’t following her and stopped as well.
She turned to face you. There was confusion on her face, “What’s up?”
Honestly, you probably should say nothing. You should probably say that everything is fine and act like nothing happened. But you were so consumed by all the negative feelings that you couldn’t be silent anymore, “What are we doing, Nami?” The girl looked even more confused. You crossed your arms, “Come on. You know what I mean. What are we,” You motioned to the two of you, “Doing?”
“What do you mean?” Nami inquired.
A huff escaped you. You placed a hand on your forehead to keep your incoming headache at bay. You removed the hand and made eye contact with her, “We keep doing this back-and-forth thing. I show that I genuinely like you with words and actions. You reciprocate. You show that you may like me and then the moment someone mentions something about it, you immediately shut it down. Why? What’s so wrong about being with me?”
For a moment, there was a flash of panic on Nami’s face. Almost like she realized she let her expression slip, she morphed the expression into a blank one, “I have no idea what you’re talking about. There’s been no romantic feelings between us. I’m sorry if I gave you that impression but I don’t feel that way toward you.”
You couldn’t believe that she was trying to play dumb right now. If she had been honest with you, maybe you would’ve reacted better. Since she chose to lie, you didn’t really give yourself time to think of a better response than what you gave, “You have been giving me signs that you like me, Nami. Everything you do towards me has a hidden meaning behind it, and that face you’re making says everything,” Nami shifted slightly. It was clear that she was becoming uncomfortable. “What? Do you not want to admit it because you don’t want to like me?”
“Look, you’re obviously just reading the signals wrong. We’re just friends.” Nami tried to say.
Your eyes widened when you realized what it was, “Nami, do you not want to admit that you like girls?” There was silence. That was all the confirmation you needed. All the anger you felt previously faded away. You tried to be more understanding. You were in her situation at one point too. “There’s nothing wrong with liking girls. It doesn’t make you weird, it’s not something horrible. You’re not going to get in trouble for-”
“Stop,” Nami’s voice was stern. You immediately stopped talking. Looking into her eyes, you saw anger. But there was something else there. It was fear. “I don’t like you. I have never liked you. We are just friends. Get that through your head. I don’t like you and I don’t like girls. I like guys and I am very comfortable in my own sexuality.” Now that was something you doubted. You had never seen Nami show any interest in a man whatsoever. The only time was when she wanted to get something out of them. That’s why she let Sanji hang around her so much. He was head over heels in love with her and she could get whatever she wanted out of him.
Those were her final words. She continued to make her way to the Going Merry. Leaving you standing there, taking in all the stares of the people who had witnessed the situation. You shifted anxiously. You didn’t know what to do. You didn’t want to go back to the Going Merry with Nami like she was now. You didn’t want to stick around here because of how everyone was staring at you. You just walked off in a direction and hoped for the best.
Things were a bit rocky after that. It took a while before things went back to normal. You tried to keep your feelings at bay, trying not to show how much you cared for her since she was clearly not ready to admit that she liked you back. Even though she kept acting like she liked you still. Either way, you certainly weren’t going to force her to like you. It was ultimately her choice. You had nothing to do with it. No matter how much it hurt, you would respect her decision.
There was one thing you noticed after that conversation though. Nami went out of her way to show more attraction to men. She indulged Sanji more than usual. When the crew went out to a bar, she let men buy her drinks and would let them stick around, flirting with her. It always made you sick to your stomach to see it. That’s why you were standing in the corner of the bar, nursing a drink in your hand as you couldn’t take your eyes off Nami flirting with some random guy.
You took a deep breath and gulped down whatever was left in your drink. You barely registered the sound of someone sitting beside you in the booth. You only realized they were there when they spoke up, “Now that’s the look of a sad drunk.” It was Zoro. You barely even glanced over at him.
“I’m not drunk.”
“So you admit you’re sad?”
“… I didn’t say that,” You looked over at him to see that he was giving you an unbelieving look. He wasn’t going to push you to talk with him about it though. That’s not his style. He just drank down the better he had previously ordered. He didn’t have to do much to get you to talk. The alcohol and his quietness had broken you down, “I just don’t get it. She acts like she likes me back but doesn’t want to say she does when asked. I tell her that there’s nothing wrong with liking me or liking girls and then she forces herself to tolerate any man that comes in her direction. I just..,” You could feel yourself tearing up. “Why can’t it be me? Am I that bad?”
There was a moment of silence. Love was not Zoro’s forte, anyone could tell you that. He could tell you how to take down an opponent in seconds but you ask him a question about love? He would look at you like you’re stupid. Still, he tried his best, “It’s all her. There’s nothing you can do about it besides suck it up.” To anyone else, it would’ve sounded harsh. Over the time you’d spent together, you knew that this was his way of showing that he cared.
You grinned tearfully, “Thanks, Zoro,” He shrugged. You turned back to Nami to see that she was glancing at you. You felt like everything in the room froze. You sucked in a deep breath and stood up, “I think I’ve had enough drinks for tonight. I’m going back to the boat.”
“Don’t fall into the water,” He only said that because you were swaying slightly from the amount of drinks you had. You only waved him off, heading out of the bar and in the direction of the boat.
What you didn’t know was that you had someone following you. The only way you knew was when you heard a familiar voice call out to you, “Hey, are you okay?” You could tell it was Nami.
If you had been slightly more sober, you would’ve acted appropriately. You were not sober in the least. “Why would you care? I thought you didn’t like me like that.”
A sigh escaped Nami, “Are you still upset about that? That was months ago.”
“Yes, I’m still upset!” You swerved around to look at her. You had tears in your eyes and hurt was shown all over your face. “I have a right to be upset! I put my all into what I thought was something between us. You act like you feel the same. Then you pull the rug out from under me every time. Leaving me standing there feeling like a fucking idiot!”
“Listen, I’m sorry that you’re hurt,” Nami started. You scoffed at this, visibility rolling your eyes. “I didn’t mean to lead you on… I just don’t feel that way towards you.”
There was a moment of silence. You would think you were thinking about the correct thing to say. You weren’t. You were just trying to process the utter bullshit she was spewing at you. “No, you listen, Nami,” Nami was taken aback by your assertive tone. “I know that you feel some type of way about me. What it is, I honestly don’t know anymore because of how much you’ve deluded yourself into ignoring how you really feel.”
“Deluding myself?” Nami was starting to get upset now. “Why would I even do that? Be serious!”
“I am!” You exclaimed. “I have never been more serious than right now. You don’t feel comfortable about the fact that you like another girl so you are trying to force yourself to like whatever guy comes your way. I am done acting like you don’t know what you’re doing. Whatever you want to do is on you but the way you’re living right now is no way to live,” You sucked in a deep breath. You could feel the anger rising inside you. “I am done waiting for you to realize that you feel something toward me. You can go and be with whatever guy that throws themselves at you. Just know that one day, you’ll wake up and look back on everything we could’ve had, and I know that you’ll be beating yourself up over it. You’ll be laying in bed next to a man you forced yourself to be with, remembering this exact moment where I say this. I fucking told you so.” You walked away. You were done. You couldn’t do it anymore.
And you were right. Months and months in the future, Nami got together with Sanji. On the outside, the two were seemingly happy. They were together after the continuous pining from Sanji and the resistance of Nami. You were a bit bitter about it at first but forced yourself to move on. You wanted to be with someone who wouldn’t be ashamed to say they loved you and Nami wasn’t going to do that. She could do whatever she wanted.
Unfortunately, her decision led her to lie in bed beside a man she didn’t love. She could recall only one moment as she stared at the ceiling with tears in her eyes.
“I fucking told you so.”

"You Can Just Live."
.·:·.✧ ✦✧.·:·.
There are a lot of things you wish could be done differently. When you get older, you look back at your life and imagine all the things you could’ve done better. Maybe change things that were annoying or fix things that ruined something big for you. For some people, there are small things they wish they could go back and change. For example, maybe they wished they would’ve gone out one day to meet the love of their life sooner. Maybe they wanted to get a rock they found on the ground because the rock ended up having a jewel worth thousands inside.
Meanwhile, for other people, when they look back on their life, they see regrets, regrets, and more regrets. They see a million things they could’ve changed to set their life on a better course. They spend their nights wishing they could change that one thing that made everything go downhill. Maybe they put off paying a bill which caused them to be kicked out, leading to a life on the streets. Maybe they didn’t say goodbye to a loved one and that was the last time they saw them.
You were the latter. You wished that things could’ve been different for your life. The turn your life took was not bright and happy but darker. It all could’ve easily been avoided when you thought about it. You should’ve gone through with your initial plan of lying about being sick to your parents. You had a trip planned but that was canceled when you admitted that you were feeling ill. Your parents didn’t want to go on your trip if you were sick so they stayed. That ended up being the worst thing you could’ve done.
A commotion woke you up from outside your room. Your room was in the basement of the house. Your parents didn’t have enough money to get a home with an extra room. They offered to take the basement so you and your little brother could take the two bedrooms but you chose to take it instead. It was quite roomy and you were a natural collector. You could put your trinkets and treasures anywhere you wanted and would never run out of space. Picking the basement as your room ended up being your saving grace.
The commotion was hard to ignore but something inside you told you to wait. Something said not to go up to check it out yet. You needed to wait. So you did. Eventually, everything died down and you went up. The sight you were met with when you stared out the window was awful. Fire was set to buildings and the ones not set ablaze were destroyed. You had to rush out of your house to avoid being burned by the flames that overtook your treasured home. That was when you were met with an even worse sight when you stepped out of your house. Bodies of the villagers lay on the ground, unmoving. Among the bodies, you found the ones of your parents. Blood and ash covered their bodies and clothes. Tears overtook your eyes. You hated to even think about what may have happened to your brother. You couldn’t even try to look for him, fearing the worst.
What you were focused on was who did this to your home. You looked at the ground and saw huge footprints. You followed the footprints, sprinting to catch up to whoever did this. You don’t know what you were thinking back then. You were a child, a sick one. What good could you have done to the people who ruined your home and killed your family? Still, you ran as fast as your little feet could take you. You were led to the dock where you saw a ship with men on it sailing away. You could hear laughing and cheering from the boat. One thing stuck out to you, the men had fish-like features. One caught your attention, it was the captain. Anyone could tell by the kind of aura he emitted. You could even feel it from on the dock.
As you got older, you learned the name of your villager’s slaughterer. Arlong. He was a fearsome pirate captain who sailed the East Blue. No one wanted to mess with him. They were terrified by what he could do to them and their family. Everyone knew better than to get on his bad sight. Everyone except for you, that is.
You waited for the perfect moment. You needed to wait until he was weak enough for you to make your move. You were going to get revenge on your family and village murderer no matter what it took. You were willing to sacrifice your own life for it. You would give anything and be patient, waiting for the right moment to strike. That came years and years later.
When the news of Arlong’s fall hit you, you were shocked. You knew it would happen eventually but didn’t know it would happen so soon. You were expecting to wait until he was an old geezer on his deathbed to finally enact your revenge plot against him. But apparently, he and his crew were taken out by a pirate crew called the Strawhat pirates. It was a crew of only five members! That was surprising to hear. Either way, now that Arlong was knocked down, you could finally start your plan.
That’s when you headed to the ruins of Fishman Island. You overheard Arlong was still residing there, quietly trying to build back a crew after the Strawhats took out his other one. You were going to make sure everything went perfectly. You needed this to work. You walked into Arlong’s lair. It was still pretty beaten down from the fight that had transpired months ago. Some things had been rebuilt but it was still in progress.
Before you could get any further into Arlong Park, a fishman stopped you. He placed a hand on your shoulder, gripped it tightly, and stared down at you with an intimidating expression, “What are you doing here, human?”
Those words caused the others around you to stop. You knew that one of them had to be Arlong. You needed to make sure that you gave the right impression. You needed to catch his interest. You drilled holes into the eyes that tried to stab knives into yours, “I’ll answer that question when you become the person in charge. Now,” Your eyes scanned the crowd around you, “Who’s the leader of this sad little group?”
There was no direct answer given to you. Everyone just turned to look at the fishman who stood before the group. You had interrupted something from the looks of it. Despite this, Arlong hadn’t bitten your head off yet so that had to be a plus. He glared down at you (being much taller than you he had to), “What does a little guppy like you want from me?”
You raised an eyebrow at him, “Why do you assume I want something from you? Maybe I want to help you.” Laughs resonated from the men around you. They were laughing at you. They probably thought you were crazy or full of yourself. You liked to say that you were a bit of both. Who else would do something like this?
The fishman captain was amused himself, “And what can you do for someone like me?”
It was obvious to you that he would try to do something to get you to snap. He wanted a reason to go off on you. You needed to remain calm and keep yourself together. You stood with your back straight and made sure never to break eye contact with him, “I recently heard that you lost a little minion of yours and it resulted in… Well,” You gestured to the area around you, “This,” A sneer took over Arlong’s features. You were testing him now. You needed to dial it back a bit. “Either way, you have a position open,” Many positions actually but who was counting? “I am a person with many talents and, who knows? We might be able to help each other out.”
“What would a person with, “many talents,” need my help? Surely you can manage yourself,” He threw your words back at you.
Ignoring the slight flit of anger that resonated deep in your soul, you kept tact, “I want revenge on a powerful person. More powerful than even you maybe,” A scoff escaped from Arlong. He still had the ego to pretend that he was still powerful after he got his ass beat by a five-man crew compared to his much larger one. It was almost laughable. “So, what do you say? I scratch your back and you scratch mine,” Arlong didn’t seem convinced about the deal. You sweetened it up a little. “Taking down my guy could give you quite a bit of your credibility back. The guy I’m after is quite fearsome after all.” You were only a shell of who he used to be. That was what you were saying. Either way, this man caused your life to be hell. You were going to damn well make sure that he suffered.
And that was the start. The start of your life being part of Arlong’s crew. Things started easy. He was trying to gauge just how much help you could truly give. You’d spent all this time becoming better. There was no way you were going to disappoint.
You didn’t. You quickly found yourself becoming part of Arlong’s elite members. He started trusting you more. He gave you the more difficult jobs requiring him to trust in you and your abilities. You made sure not to disappoint. You couldn’t have everything falling apart now. It all had to go according to your plan. The plan to become someone Arlong trusted enough that he would never expect you to go behind his back and kill him. That was your original plan. As we know, things can have difficulty staying according to plan.
There was one job that he gave you which was going to prove to be much harder than needed. He called you to meet with him one day and he told you about his fight with Straw Hats. He told you about a girl named Nami who worked for him since she was a child until she betrayed him, running off with the Straw Hats. In your head, you commended the girl for being able to leave like she did. You didn’t give yourself much of a choice to leave. You needed to be part of his crew.
Your job was supposedly simple. You were supposed to infiltrate the Straw Hats and get on their good side. Whatever happened, you reported to him and didn’t act until he gave you orders. You believed it would be simple enough. Especially since he gave you the location of where they were supposed to be. He wanted you to do your own research and take everything from there. “Put your skills to use,” He told you.
And so you did. What you learned about the Straw Hats with your research is that their captain had a weakness when it came to interesting people. People who needed help. So you became someone that needed help because of an interesting situation.
Once you landed on the island they were docked on, you set out to try to catch a glimpse of them. It didn’t take long. They were quite the rowdy bunch of people. Their captain was causing a big ruckus in one of the restaurants on the island. Peaking in as best as you could without being seen, you could see the looks of annoyance that the crew were giving him. He was eating like a pig who’d been starved.
It didn’t seem like they were going anywhere for a while so you walked away. You needed to put everything in motion. You went down an alley and looked around to see if anyone was watching. It didn’t look like it. Good. You reached down and, with all your might, pulled at the fabric of your pants causing rips. You ripped the bottom of your shirt, exposing a bit of your stomach. You took the dirt from the ground and rubbed it on the exposed areas of your skin and a bit on your face. The next part hurt a bit as you purposely skinned your knee and elbow to make it more believable. Once you were sure you looked the part, you peeked out of the alley and waited.
The first glimpse you got of the Straw Hats leaving the restaurant. You put your plan into action. You ran like a bat out of hell, a look of terror on your face. You made sure to bump into one of the pirates and didn’t even look back to apologize. Surely, they would see that something was up. And they did. They followed after you and questioned you when they managed to catch up.
That was how you joined the Straw Hats. You spun some story about how a man killed your family and now was trying to kill you because you managed to live and knew his face. The Straw Hats took pity on you and their captain offered you a place on their crew. Their cook wanted to protect you from the evil man that was after you. You joined their ranks so easily that it was almost a shock to you. The only problem you had was a certain girl with orange hair. Nami. That’s what Arlong told you her name was. She was a little more skeptical of your story. You needed to find a way to get through her tough shell. The opportunity came naturally. A surprise but a welcome one nonetheless.
It was when you were having one of your moments. That’s what you called them at least. You always put up such a good front in front of other people, you even managed to convince yourself that you were fine. There was nothing wrong with you. You were a determined person who never let anyone get the best of them and you were someone who would never let anyone or anything drag you down. You never doubted a decision that you made in your life. You knew exactly what you were doing and were content with where you were in life.
That was one of the biggest lies you ever told yourself. You never had time to really unpack that until you were alone. When you did examine your life, your decisions, you as a person, you wanted to crawl into a hole and stay there, catatonic, dead to the world. You hated being aware of who you were as a person. You hated remembering the things that made you who you are. You hated wondering what could’ve been if things didn’t end the way they did.
You wanted your parents. You wanted your mother to tuck you in and sing you lullabies. You wanted your father to tell you one of his grand stories that you always doubted were true. You wanted your little brother to bother you and get on your nerves like he usually did. What would they think of you now? What would your parents think of their child? What would your brother think of his older sibling? Would they be happy?
A scoff escaped you. How could they be happy? The person you’ve become was far from the person you were. You might as well be a different person entirely. You’ve done things that distanced yourself from your parents' child. You’ve ruined lives just to ruin someone else’s eventually. You were trying to convince yourself you were still a good person when that was the furthest thing from the truth.
“What are you doing out here?” The sudden voice made you jump. Your head swerved around to see who the person was that spoke to you. “Whoa,” It was Nami. She held her hands up in surrender. “Sorry. Didn’t mean to freak you out.”
“It’s… Fine.” That’s all that you could manage to say.
Something about how you were now confused Nami. You were much different than how you usually were. You always acted so sure of yourself. You had this cheeky grin on your face 24/7 and like nothing ever bothered you. The person she saw in front of her was the opposite. This version of you looked terrified, depressed, and beaten down. For a moment, it was like she was staring at a younger version of herself.
“What’s wrong?” She found herself asking. You only shook your head, not wanting to answer. You were too tired to spin some kind of lie. You didn’t want to lie and say you were okay but you didn’t want to be truthful either. You didn’t truly know these people. They didn’t truly know you. They only knew a version of you that you forced onto them. Nami still pushed, “Come on. Whatever you want to say, I’ll listen. I won’t judge. There’s nothing wrong with sharing your feelings every once in a while.”
That was the first time that someone had asked you to be genuinely honest about your feelings in a long time. It was enough to make your eyes water a little. The sincerity in her voice had broken through your cold exterior and made its way into your heart, warming it like it hadn’t in a while. You locked eyes with her. If she saw the tears building up in your eyes, she chose not to say anything.
“I just…” The words started spilling out. “I wonder what I’m doing sometimes. I feel like I don’t even know myself anymore. I have become a version of myself that doesn’t even feel like it’s me. I look in the mirror and I see someone I don’t recognize. And it kills me,” You took a deep breath. You knew that you should probably stop. You didn’t want to get too personal. Who knew what Arlong wanted you to do to these people? You needed to remain detached. But you kept going. “I shouldn’t be here. I shouldn’t be who I am now. I shouldn’t… Be.”
There was a moment of silence. You almost wanted to hit yourself for being so vulnerable. Something about the way she spoke to you just made everything come flooding out. True to her word, Nami didn’t judge you, “You don’t have to be anything. You can just live. If you try living up to all the expectations you put on yourself, you’ll never be happy. If you want to recognize the person in the mirror, you need to look at it through the eyes of someone who survived, not the eyes of someone who lived.” That was the best advice that she could’ve given you. And you hated it.
The whole night was spent talking about everything and nothing. You felt yourself become more comfortable around Nami and you could tell that she felt the same. The both of you broke through the other’s exterior and got to know what lay underneath. Someone who had been hurt because of the past and needed someone to just listen and understand them. It was everything that you’d wanted since you started on your revenge quest.
Many more moments like that occurred between the two of you. You found yourself being drawn to Nami in a way you couldn’t understand at first. You always wanted to be around you. You wanted to hear everything she had to say. You could listen to her talk all day and still wouldn’t believe you’d heard her enough. You loved hearing her talk about mapping. You found it hilarious when Luffy messed with her and found yourself wanting to see that side of her more often. You didn’t have a label for these feelings at the moment but you didn’t mind. You didn’t have to label anything. You could just live.
Oh, you naive little thing. You really thought that you could just live? Come on, that’s laughable. You have a mission that you set out to do. Two actually. Had you forgotten? Get serious. These people aren’t your friends, they’re your targets. Just like Arlong is your target. You didn’t come here to be comfortable around targets, now did you? You wouldn’t want Arlong finding out about your failure at the mission already.
A ring of a snail phone was enough to remind you of it all. Making sure you were away from the others, you answered it. You were met with the familiar voice of Arlong, “How are things coming along with the Straw Hats?” There was something in his voice that set something off in your brain. You didn’t know what exactly it was.
“Everything’s going according to plan.”
“Good,” He sounded satisfied. There was still the slightest hint of something. It was starting to make you anxious. “Would you say that they trust you now?”
“Yes.” The answer was easy.
A beat later and Arlong went right to the point, “I have something I need you to do for me then,” You remained silent. You were a little worried about whatever he would be asking you to do. You knew it was a horrible idea to get so attached. Arlong took your silence as a sign you were listening, “For the next part of the plan, I want you to kill Nami.”
The very thought of it caused your heart to race. Your hands started to shake. You could feel yourself get dizzy. Your voice was shaky as you asked, “What?”
The uncertainty in your voice didn’t please the fishman, “Don’t tell me you got attached to those humans.”
“No!” You winced at how loudly you spoke. You glanced around to see if anyone had come running at the sound of you shouting. Thankfully, no one was in sight. You took a deep breath and spoke quietly into the snail phone. “I’m not attached. I just want to know why you want her to die. I mean, isn’t there a more amusing way of doing this? Like, what if you forced her back to work with you? What if you-”
“The last thing I need is my best crew member doubting me,” Arlong’s voice was a growl. You found yourself freezing up at the sound. “But it seems like you’ve never really trusted me, have you?” You were confused about what he meant. You were sure that you had played your part perfectly. Why did he think like this now? “Nothing to say? Someone surely had a lot to say when they came to find me. Didn’t you?”
You knew that he wasn’t talking to you at this moment. He was talking to someone else. Someone was there with him. Who was there? A familiar voice rang in your ears, “Y/N.” Your eyes widened. Your heart dropped to your feet. Tears came to your eyes. It was him. Your brother. B/N. There was no way. He was dead. You thought he was at least. He made it out alive too. He was with Arlong.
Arlong’s voice came from the snail phone once more, “This little boy came to find me, saying he was going to kill me for murdering his family,” A laugh resonated from him. “I was going to kill him when he mentioned a familiar name. The name of one of my best crew members. You wouldn’t know anything about that, would you?” You were speechless. You didn’t know what to say. Everything you worked so hard for in this plan fell apart. You didn’t even know if you were even upset about it anymore. Your brother was alive. But he was with the worst person he could possibly be around. “I’ll give you one chance. You kill Nami… Or I kill this little brat.” The snail phone hung up.
You were completely silent. You had nothing to say. You couldn’t react. You were frozen like someone had stopped a record from spinning in a record player. Your eyes were wide open. They would’ve dried out if your tears weren’t keeping them from becoming dry. You were staring off into space as your mind was completely blank. Finally, your knees lost all feeling and you fell to the floor. What a predicament you had gotten yourself in…
Honestly, you don’t know when you started moving. All you knew was that you now had a knife in your hand and you were standing in Nami’s room above her bed. This was the last thing you wanted to do. You had begun to care for Nami, no matter how much you tried to convince yourself you didn’t. But you also cared for your brother. Your little brother. The one you thought was dead but was trying to do the same thing as you. Get revenge on the person who wronged them. Now look where that led you.
With your grip tightened on the knife, you took a deep breath. Tears finally fell. You raised the knife and prepared to strike. You could feel a harsh pang in your heart and the shaking of your body as you started down at the woman in front of you. How cruel life was to you. You wished you didn’t have to do this. But what other choice did you have?
“Y/N?”

Hey I saw your Hozier song list asks and was hoping to request!
Either “Movement” or “No Plan” for an Usopp x reader story!
🙏🏼please and thank you💖
Hey! Thank you so much for requesting! I will be more than happy to write this request for you. I don't get a lot of Usopp requests so this was very nice to write. You can find my Flower Asks here, Hozier Asks here, and my Taylor Swift Asks here. You can find my masterlist here and my rules here. You can find my taglist here and you can request here! Movement: He'll always go where you go. Characters: Usopp, GN!Reader Pairings: Usopp x GN!Reader TW: None that I can think of!
Movement
.·:·.✧ ✦✧.·:·.
You’ve known Usopp since the both of you were younger. Your mothers knew each other and had been friends for years. You both basically grew up together. When Usopp’s mother became too sick to even move anymore, your mother took on the role of looking after the boy.
Growing up together like you did, it was obvious that you would become close. No one expected you to get as close as you did. Both your mothers thought that the two of you would want to have time for themselves but were surprised to see that wasn’t the case. You guys were always following each other around. Correction, Usopp was following you around.
Ever since the two of you were younger, Usopp was drawn to you in a way that he couldn’t explain. It was much different than how he was interested in the other kids in the village. He had this urge to be around you all the time. He followed you around like a lost puppy would follow around the one person who showed it kindness.
This feeling only intensified when you got older. Usopp felt giddy around you. He felt like he could run 10 consecutive laps and still have the energy to take on the world. Something inside him jumped and thundered just by being around you. He needed you just as much as you needed him, maybe even more.
When you walked into a room, Usopp noticed. It was hard not to. You were the most attractive person he had ever seen, not just in the physical sense. It was how you’re personality was. It was what made you even more interesting than everyone else. It was how you talked, the expressions you made, the way you carried yourself. It drew him in.
Everyone knew one thing about the two of you. Usopp would follow you everywhere and you would do the same. For someone who strayed away from danger, if he found out you were in the middle of it, he would suck it up and run into the brunt of it to be with you. He made himself forget about the possibilities of what could go wrong.
It wasn’t too hard to forget about everything else, to be honest. That’s the kind of effect you had on him. Just by being around him, you could make him forget everything. That eating worry that wouldn’t leave him alone? It was gone the moment you were around. The fear of getting badly hurt in a fight? Gone the moment he realized you were in the middle of the fight.
He would follow you to the ends of the earth without even a second thought.

hi there!! i feel like work song is definitely a sanji song and i can imagine the yearning between him and the reader
Hi! Sorry for such a late response, I lost motivation again 😭 Work Song definitely feels like a Sanji song! I was so excited to write this prompt. Work Song is my favorite Hozier song ever! I hope you like this! A heads up for the live-action One Piece fans, this is based on the anime plotline. It is based around Skypiea (I just finished that arc actually!). You can find my Flower Asks here, Hozier Asks here, and my Taylor Swift Asks here (I have added TTPD to it now!). You can find my masterlist here and my rules here. And you can request here! Work Song: You're the only thing that keeps him going. Characters: Sanji, GN!Reader Pairings: Sanji x GN!Reader TW: None that I can think of!
Work Song
.·:·.✧ ✦✧.·:·.
If there was one thing that everyone knew about Sanji, it was his love for cooking. Cooking was his safe place. You would always find him holed up in the kitchen, slaving away at whatever dish he was trying to make next that would blow the socks off anyone who tried it. It was the thing that he was good at. It was his passion. He cared about it more than anything in the whole world. But that wasn’t the only thing he cared about. There was something he cared about just as much or even more than cooking. That something was you.
Once Sanji met you, he had no idea how he went through life without you. It was like you suddenly became everything his world was. You were the air he breathed, the light to his cigarette, the heat to his stove, the ingredients to his cooking. You came into his life and became everything he could ever need. He found himself needing nothing else if he had you. You were everything to him. You were his reason for getting through the day.
He found himself thinking about you constantly. Your bright smile, your soft skin, your personality, your little jokes, your laugh. You overtook every single thought in his mind. There was not a single thing about you he didn’t love. You could tell him everything you hated about yourself and he would tell you every reason why he loved that part of you and more. You took him as he was. Sanji had no doubt made many mistakes in his past and, despite that, you still chose to love him like he did none of that. It was like you were from a dream. This man loved you like it was his passion. A passion that overtook even his passion for cooking. You were his main priority.
That’s why when he found out you were on Eneru’s ship with the god himself, all he could think about was getting you off that ship and as far away from the enemy as possible. He ignored his wounds from Eneru’s lightning, forced Usopp to get up and help him, and made sure that he used whatever resource he had necessary to save you. You were the only thing that he thought about. The only thought on his mind. The only safety he cared about was yours.
When he stayed behind to face off against Eneru by himself, he saw the look on your face as you fell off the ship with Usopp and the waver. He knew that you didn’t want to leave him there. He could hear your shouts at Usopp to let go of the waver and to go back up to the ship. But that was the last thing Sanji wanted you to do. He knew Usopp would do what Sanji wanted and keep you away from the fight.
And so, when he stared Eneru in the face again, he said one thing to him, “I don’t believe in God, you know. I doubt that I’d be going to any kind of heaven. But I don’t care because I have my own heaven, my own divine being. And that’s all I need.” Eneru had no idea what he was talking about. The god struck the man down with his lightning and as Sanji laid on the ground, burning and aching with the feeling of the lightning wreaking havoc through his body, there was one thought that was in his mind.
He knew he was going to make it out of this alive. Nothing could keep him away from you. If they buried him in the deepest grave man could possibly make, he would still find a way to claw his way out and drag himself back to your feet. That’s where he was supposed to be, where he needed to be. You were exactly where he was supposed to be.

hello! i saw your hozier inspired asks and i love the prompts, esp as ive been a hozier stan for a long time now and i really love OPLA and OP in general.
is it okay if i ask for Hozier's Movement with a pining! zoro, where he would quite literally follow and do whatever reader says to him, but at the same time does it in his own small ways as he is not used to it jdjejdhshahje
fluff too and reader reciprocates his feelings
Hi! I am happy that you love the prompts! I spent a lot of time trying to come up with ideas for all the songs so I appreciate hearing that you like them! Unfortunately, I am currently working on a request for Movement already but I would be more than happy to do a different prompt for you!

omg i love your hozier asks, can i have NFWMB with Nami please?
Hi! Thank you so much! I felt like I should add something along with the Taylor Swift asks and a lot of people like Hozier (me included) so I jumped right into it, LOL. But, yes, you absolutely can! I am so excited that you requested for Nami, she is literally my favorite character in the show! I hope you like this! It was much shorter than I was hoping, but I hope you don't mind! You can find my Flower Asks here, Hozier Asks here, and my Taylor Swift Asks here. You can find my masterlist here and my rules here. And you can request here! NFWMB: She doesn't like when anyone messes with you. Characters: Nami, GN!Reader Pairings: Nami x GN!Reader TW: None that I can think of!
NFWMB
.·:·.✧ ✦✧.·:·.
If there was one thing that Nami would say she was grateful for, it would be you.
You joined the crew at the same time that she and Zoro did (when they refused to call it a crew).
At first, Nami tried to ignore you as she did with Luffy and Zoro. She kept in her mind that she wouldn’t be staying long so there was no point in forming a connection with you or the others.
But, there was something about you that made it impossible for her to go on ignoring you.
She thought it might be because she thought you were naive. So naive that it was hard to ignore. You always saw the good in people, even in her. You were always helping people, giving the very best parts of you to people who didn’t deserve it. The best way to describe it would be that you were a saint or an angel. You helped people without expecting anything in return. You were so kind that it may as well have been naivety. That’s why she was so interested.
Of course, this wasn’t the truth at all but a girl could hope.
When she realized that she was letting herself get close to you, she tried to put distance. She beat herself up for letting herself be so casual around you. She had a mission that she couldn’t put aside for someone else. She wanted to free Coco Village and she had to deal with Arlong at the same time. There was no way she could deal with you as well.
While she was telling herself that she felt nothing for you, she would always be so fired up when it came to your well-being.
If anyone said something about you, looked at you the wrong way, or turned their head in your direction with the slightest bit of malice, she was at your side, staring them down and daring them to try something.
God help someone stupid enough to try to hurt you. As soon as someone laid their hands on you, that was the end of it. She took them down faster than they could’ve thought about what else they could do to you.
She said she didn’t care about you but she hated to see you hurt.
Nami said she didn’t care about you but would burn the world down if it meant you were safe.

You can find my masterlist here and my rules here. And you can request here! Angel of Small Death and the Codeine Scene: You're hooked on each other even if you're not good for each other. Angel of Small Death and the Codeine Scene
.·:·.✧ ✦✧.·:·.
There was one thing that you refused to ever do. All of your friends were very aware of what this thing is. It was very obvious to anyone that would ever meet you. You were very outspoken of your dislike of relationships, specifically romantic ones. You had seen too many failed relationships to actually try to get into one yourself. You wouldn’t put yourself through that.
The hatred started with your parents. Growing up, you never once saw them want to spend time together. They never said anything nice about each other. Every time they were around the other, it always led to some kind of argument. That was all you ever heard as a kid. The constant fighting of your parents, hearing them scream about how much they hate each other. It made you wonder how they even got together in the first place.
When you were older, you saw your friends in their relationships. They always seemed to choose the worst partners for themselves. They would come to you to complain about what their partner did that day that really upset them. Their partners would cheat on them with someone else, they would treat them like the dirt on the bottom of their feet, and would do even more if your friend let them.
Seeing all this only made you want to distance yourself from that kind of situation. But that seemed to change when you ended up meeting a man. You worked in a bar on your small island when a group of people came in. One ate the entire menu while the others looked slightly disgusted by the fact. They all seemed to be pretty used to it though.
One person in their group caught your eye. It was a blond man who was definitely easy on the eyes. You walked up to them to take their order. The blond man looked more than thrilled to see you walk to their table, “Now where have you been hiding all my life?” He took your hand and placed a gentle kiss on it. You tried to show that you weren’t interested but your face had a different reaction. Somewhere deep inside you, you liked it.
Events after that happened pretty quickly. You knew the man to be Sanji and he was part of a pirate crew called the Straw Hats. After being offered a place on the crew, you took it, wanting to escape your regular boring life. This opened up more opportunities for you to get close with the charming cook on the crew. After the constant pining and flirting, the two of you ended up together. Something you thought would never happen in a million years.
Unfortunately, what you feared was more of a reality than you hoped it would be. The two of you went through the usual honeymoon phase which slowly turned into something else entirely. You’d thought that once you and Sanji were in a relationship, he would stop flirting with other people. This was not what happened. He still kept up the flirting, even daring to do it in front of you. It pissed you off to see how easily he could disregard you like that.
This obviously led to many arguments. Some went exactly like what you would hear as a kid when you locked yourself in your room but could still hear the yelling through the thin walls.
“What was that?” You looked Sanji in his eyes. Your arms were crossed over your chest and it wasn’t hard to tell that you were upset.
A sigh escaped from Sanji, “Not this again.”
The first thing that you did was scoff. A disbelieving smile took over your features as you stared at him with false amusement, “‘Not this again?’ Are you kidding me? That’s all you have to say?”
Sanji turned to you with an expression that made you even more upset, “It was nothing.” The expression was one that said he was bored. He didn’t want to deal with this. He was the one that started this, he could damn well deal with the fallout.
That night ended in a screaming match. The next morning, it was like nothing even happened. This was constant until you finally decided you’d had enough. You ended things. You still remember how he reacted when things ended. He begged you not to leave. He said he wouldn’t flirt with random people anymore. He would spend more time with you. He would treat you like the royalty you are. But you wouldn’t have it. You were done. You didn’t want to do it anymore.
If that was so, how did you always end back up with him? You were drawn to him like a moth to a flame. No matter how many times you both are burnt by the other, you keep coming back. You would say that things were over but could be found trying to start it all over again. Your worlds were painted different hues and you were always going to be caught in the fallout of that, but you were stuck on each other.
“Never again,” You said, going in for a kiss.
Once he pulled away, Sanji locked eyes with you, “Never again.”
It would always happen. You were like a drug he never wanted to quit and it was the same for you. You were doomed to repeat this cycle. Nothing was going to separate the two of you unless it was death.

hi! i don’t know how asks work very well so i’m like eyeballing it here but if you could do too sweet with sanji that be so kind thanks 🙏
Hi! You're doing it perfectly fine, don't worry! Of course I can do Too Sweet with Sanji for you! This came across as more of a headcanon post to me so I hope you don't mind that. If so, message me and I can rewrite it. Either way, I hope you enjoy it! This is set for when Sanji was at the Baratie still. You can find my Flower Asks here, Hozier Asks here, and my Taylor Swift Asks here. You can find my masterlist here and my rules here. And you can request here! Too Sweet: The two of you are vastly different. It makes things a little difficult at times. Characters: Sanji, GN!Reader Pairings: Sanji x GN!Reader TW: None that I can think of!
Too Sweet
.·:·.✧ ✦✧.·:·.
Opposites attract is something you hear about relationships. This couldn’t be more right with you and Sanji.
The two of you were polar opposites in every sense of the phrase. He was very outgoing, flirty, charming, and what could be described as the life of the party. You were the opposite of that. You were very introverted, you couldn’t flirt to save your life, you were sure you were devoid of any charm, and you were the one to avoid a party. To say that this caused some challenges would be an understatement.
Sanji was the first one up in the morning to go to his shift at the Baratie and the last one to get in at night because of him staying longer to attend a party at the bar. You were the last one up, seeing as your shift started later, and the first one in since you didn’t really stick around once your job was over. The only time you really had to spend with the other was when you both had a day off.
You tried to do the things Sanji did. You tried to go to parties after work. You tried to meet more new people. You tried to do the whole outgoing thing but it just wasn’t what you were good at. At every party, you were in the corner of the boat, wanting to disappear while Sanji was off dancing or drinking his weight in alcohol. You had awkward conversations and it always made you feel like an idiot afterward for even trying.
And it was the same for Sanji. Sanji tried to stop staying out so late every once in a while to spend time at home with you. He tried to just have the day be you and him, no one else. No distractions. But he couldn’t do it either. It made him feel like he was being tied down. It made him antsy. He couldn’t sit inside all day. He needed to get out and interact with people. You didn’t.
This caused a few arguments here and there. You argued that he never stayed home enough and he argued that you never go out with him. It was an ongoing cycle that felt like it would never be solved. It rarely ever was solved. The conversation always ended with the two of you avoiding the topic and acting like it never happened.
It made people wonder how you were even together at times. What made you both, polar opposites, actually get together in the first place? The answer was simple.
You balanced each other out very well. You played to the others strengths and weaknesses. If you were lacking in one area, Sanji would fill that void so you could work more efficiently. It was the same for Sanji. Where he lacked, you provided the necessary support.
The only problem you had before this was at the start of the relationship. You were the type to want to move things slow. You wanted to truly know a person before you jumped into anything. Sanji had a hard time with this. Sure, he would wait for you for however long he needed to but he wondered when you would be ready because it felt like it would be forever until that day finally came. This problem slowly resolved itself over time. It just took time. Maybe this will too.
Either way, there were still times it was hard for you to function in the relationship because of the stark contrast in personalities. This stemmed from underlying issues.
Sanji felt like you didn’t need him at times. You were always so independent. You relied on yourself to the point you didn’t need help from anyone. You didn’t require human interaction to function. You could sit in your own silence and be comfortable with it. It felt like if he was removed from your life, you wouldn’t even notice.
Then there was you. While Sanji felt like you didn’t need him, you felt like you held him back and like you weren’t enough for him at times. You always got onto him about staying out late, something he enjoyed. You could tell it irritated him when you argued with him about it. You knew that he was doing something he enjoyed, but he was almost never home to spend time with you. It made you feel like he was more comfortable around complete strangers than his own partner. You felt like you didn’t give him enough.
It frustrated the two of you so much.
You felt like he was too sweet for you and he felt like he wasn’t savory enough for you.

Could i request a law x reader with too sweet? I’ve been obsessed with the song and it’s makes me think about law and relationships. Also sorry if I’m requesting this wrong it’s been a while since I’ve done this
I also hope you have a wonderful day!
You're requesting it right, don't worry! Unfortunately, I'm doing only requests based on the live action One Piece and not the anime. I'm not too far in the anime (just got to the Alabasta arc. I've been slacking with watching more 😭) so I haven't even met Law's character yet. But if you would still like to request for someone else, you are more than welcome to! Sorry for the inconvenience!

The request ideas for the people who love Hozier! Some of these can be platonic, while some are romantic. These are also vice versa (it could be about you doing something or about them). Quick note: I will not be including Cherry Wine in the Asks. While it is a good song (one of my favorites), it is a song about domestic violence and I don't want to take away from the true meaning of the song. The same goes for Nina Cried Power as that is a protest song and I don't want to take the meaning from that either. Rules can be found here. Asks are here. OPLA Masterlist is here. Flower asks ideas are here, Taylor Swift asks are here. 💔- Angst 💖- Fluff 💌- Personal fav.

You Are In Love
.·:·.✧ ✦✧.·:·.
If someone had told you that you would be in love with Zoro Roronoa, you would’ve told them that they were out of their mind. You didn’t like him in that way and you doubted that you ever would. To be frank, you hated him since you’d met him in the bar in Shells Town.
You’d grown up in Shells Town and, while it was boring, it was home. If there was one complaint that you had, it was that it was always so boring. Nothing fun ever happened, especially not with the Marines crawling around. You spent most of your days at the local bar in the middle of town. You worked there to support yourself since there was no one else to take care of you besides yourself.
It was a regular day like any other when he walked into the bar. He walked in carrying a upper part of a body in a bag. Blood could be seen drenching the bottom of the bag, dripping onto the floor on occasion. He then placed the bag on one of the stools at the bar. A sigh escaped you and you rolled your eyes. You already knew you would be the one cleaning that up.
As if that wasn’t the only thing to annoy you that day, he did something that annoyed you even more. A Marine came up to the bar and snapped his fingers at you to get your attention, “Hey. I want a beer. Now.” Ah, yes, the ever so demanding Marine wanted a beer. That was certainly the surprise of the year.
With a forced smile, you replied, “On it.”
That should’ve been the end of it. You were used to this kind of thing. If there was one thing Marines didn’t have, it was manners. You swore that they were too thick-headed to ever learn any manners. The lessons wouldn’t even be able to get past the layer of skin on their forehead. Of course you couldn’t say that out loud. So you smiled and kept your mouth shut unless it was to agree with whatever they said.
It didn’t seem like that was going to work this time because the guy with the green hair and body bag snapped his finger at the Marine, “Hey,” The Marine looked furious. His head whipped around to stare at him. “Yeah, you don’t like it either, huh? Treat her with respect.”
This only made things worse. The Marine continued to be angry and took it out on almost the whole bar. To top it all off, the green-haired man picked a fight with the son of Axe Hand Morgan and started a bar fight with all the Marines. Again, something that would result in you being the one to clean everything up. Sure, you appreciated the gesture of standing up for you, but you had the situation handled by just ignoring it. Now there was a full blown fight where you would have to deal with the repercussions later.
Somehow, you ended up being stuck with the man, who you found out was named Zoro, by being put on a pirate crew with him. During the fight at the bar, a Marine hadn’t gotten you even more frustrated so you took him down easily. That was the only time you interfered in the fight. A boy in a straw hat saw you easily take the Marine down and was impressed with your fighting style. He offered for you to join his crew. Wanting to get out of your boring town, you agreed. If you had known Zoro would be there, you would’ve turned down the offer. But now it was too late to do that.
You were now stuck in a close proximity to Zoro because of how small the boat was. He was always slacking off by taking naps. He always swung his swords around frigidly and didn’t care if he almost cut someone’s hand off. There was also the fact that he acted like he was so far above the rest of you. That’s how you interpreted it at least.
Eventually, you did start to become more understanding of each other. During your stay at Kaya’s mansion, you couldn’t sleep so you wandered around. Zoro happened to be doing the same thing much to your dismay. You were too tired to tell him to go away and too tired to leave yourself so you forced yourself to just be around him. You found yourself having a deep conversation with him that night. Granted, it was short because of everything that happened after, but it still felt significant to you.
That’s when you decided to lessen your hatred of him. Maybe he wasn’t as bad as you were making him out to be. You started being civil to him. Being civil slowly turned into being friends. Light hearted jokes started being shared between the two of you. You guys started to gravitate toward each other more. You started confiding in him about your worries. There would be these small touches that only the two of you noticed. You were surprised to find that you didn’t hate when his hand lightly brushed yours. It felt nice.
At one point during the crew’s sailing, you guys ended up on a fairly peaceful island. You arrived just in time for the annual festival and decided to stay to relax a little. It ended up with you going in groups. Nami, Luffy, and Usopp went to look around together while you and Zoro were left on your own. As alone as you could be, that is.
It was hard to consider yourselves truly alone when a bunch of random women tried to have Zoro come away with them. Each and every time, he would turn them down by asking you if you wanted to do what the woman was suggesting. It shocked you but you agreed since it was an out of the conversation with the woman.
The two of you spent the whole night together and ended up coming back to the hotel you and the crew were staying at late. You were too tired to go to your room since it was on the third floor so he offered for you to stay in his room. You were flustered at first and refused but he insisted. Once there, he let you take the bed and slept in the chair in the corner of the room. You felt bad but couldn’t convince him to take the bed. You spent the remainder of the night talking before you fell asleep.
You think that was when you started to consider Zoro your best friend. Though, it felt like there was something deeper there. You already knew what it was. You were just afraid to admit it. You had relationships before and those didn’t end well. You were afraid of the same thing happening if you ended up with Zoro… But when you were with him, it felt like those relationships didn’t matter anymore. He actually kept his promises unlike previous ones. He treated you much better than they did and you guys weren’t even together yet.
After Zoro got badly injured by Mihawk during their fight, you were losing your mind with worry. You barely left his side while he was unconscious. You were angry with him even more when he woke up but was glad that you and the others didn’t have to plan for a funeral for one of your best friends. You guys talked when he woke up and you let him know exactly how much he worried you.
That’s when he told you that he didn’t think you thought of him as your best friend. When you told him that he was, he looked you directly in the eyes and told you that you were his too. You saw something else in those eyes of his. He loved you just as much as you loved him.
If the picture of you that was taken at the festival that he has in his stuff said anything, it was exactly that.

I Think He Knows
.·:·.✧ ✦✧.·:·.
If there’s one thing you’ve always been sure of, it’s the fact that you are helplessly in love with Luffy.
You guys met when you were kids. You had been saved by Shanks' crew and he brought you to a village where you happened to meet someone Shanks knew. A kid your age named Luffy.
From the first time meeting, you knew there was a deeper feeling you felt for him. You were a kid at the time so you weren’t too sure what the feeling was exactly. All you knew was that you always wanted to be around him. You were basically his shadow. The two of you were inseparable.
When you were younger, everyone always thought what you felt for him was a puppy love crush. They had no idea what to think when you felt exactly the same way when you grew older.
You never felt like anybody really knew how you felt about him. It was much different from the way they described it. They said that you always felt like being around him. You didn’t feel that way, you needed to be around him.
He made you feel a way that no one else had ever made you feel. Your heart raced when you were around him, you felt like you had enough energy to power a city. Everything was perfect when you were with him.
People were always a little confused by your feelings toward him. When you would explain, they would say to confess to him. You always said no. At first, they thought it was because you were shy. But you were always to forward when it came to him. So why didn’t you ever confess?
The answer was pretty simple. You never confessed because you knew that he already knew how he felt about you.
He was always appreciative of your touches. He wanted to be around you just as much as you wanted to be around him. He would always sneak into your room at night so you could hang out and talk. He always begged for you to pay attention to him. He was just as obsessed with you as you were of him. You both always gravitated toward each other.
You never wanted to force anything, especially a relationship, with him. You wanted things to happen organically, naturally. If it’s meant to be, it will all work out.
You just hoped that he made some kind of move soon. You knew that you could easily be the best thing to happen to someone and, if you know you’re worth a lot, you wouldn’t want to wait forever for someone who doesn’t confess what they feel.
Knowing the two of you... You’re bound to get together soon.
