Every moment change is available around me.
I am ready to open to the weather.
When I rest, my bones fold up compact and my skin is like a fish.
When I open, I care for those that need relief from the hot sun or cool rain. It's time.
Underneath me are many footsteps. The people are gathered. From light -- a rainbow is revealed.
Spinning, playful expression. The air is electric with song, and bodies readying for collective movement.
In this periphery my offering is protection.
A step forward, another and another.
In front, behind, beside me -- we walk together.
---
A little poem I wrote in the Seeds of Stories workshop, facilitated by Elizabeth Hill and Lorrina Belluz during the Mindful Makers Collective spring season. Thank you Carol Kajorinne for bringing together folks!

On episode 11 of Yum-cha dai-ga - 飲茶大家 (let's have tea/dim-sum together) I explore a Cantonese phrase 心知肚明 sam1 zi1 tou5 ming4 (the heart knows, the stomach understands). The conversation starts with my parents. Then with curiosity and care, I invited people of differing levels of closeness and intimacy to respond.
You will hear from my parents, Carly Forbes, Céline Mundinger, Sheila Wilson, Lora Northway, Cornelius Beaver, and Ma-Nee Chacaby. Plus, the lil' baby with a big voice.
Stay tuned for a followup episode that continues to build on this prompt.

On episode 10 of Yum-cha dai-ga - 飲茶大家 (let's have tea/dim-sum together) I catch up with a lovely friend, Blake Evans, who moved to China during the pandemic. Though a twelve hour time-difference exists between us-- our chat feels luscious, expansive, and reflective about how we are in relation to our environment. We chat about practicing language, growth, queerness, and more.

Wishing you a happy nowruz, spring equinox, sugar moon.
Today marks one year of my podcast that's been in development for about the same number of years as this fortunate, lucky, number 8 episode drop! It features my mama.
Becoming a parent has been a big motivation to make this, do my own intergenerational healing work and invite you into the process of sharing who I am

Congrats to Lak Williams, Shaynah Twance, and all the folks who developed, produced, and hosted such carefully supported space that offers glimpse into the experiences of young people sharing their truths.

I have always loved putting together playlists and also receiving mixtapes. e.g. Cassette mixtapes and CDs.
Here are songs that will feel like winter solstice. marathon re-watching specials. listening with headphones until I fall asleep. delight and excitement. melancholy and hope. driving highway 11-17. the intimacy of getting my CDs signed by musicians at the Apollo. dancing like... forever.
