2023 Reading List {#tywlife}
*Note for 2023: My goal this year is not to attempt to power through books as if I am binging a TV show and wanting to hear the complete story from A to B. Rather, I’d like to absorb the experiences and take good time to allow the learnings for me to be extracted and applied, processed and marinated upon, so that I can take those learnings into my own being (where applicable). With the churning…

2022 Reading List + Other Learning Notes {#tywlife}
This particular list includes a lot of documentaries and video content as well. Links have been included to the material. There is so SO much more, however. I've been consuming so much content in the past 2 years. I'm grateful more content has been made.
*New for 2022: I’ve started to track “unfinished”books as well. These are books I’ve decided not to continue reading for the sake of “completing” the task. It’s me realizing the book and ideas in it are not for me anymore. Perhaps at this particularly moment in my life. But I’m practicing listening to myself and learning to move on/let go when I’ve recognized and felt something that’s not…

2021 Reading List {#tywlife}
I've added some updates post-script with my latest reflections and thoughts on the books listed for this year! Enjoy :) Starting to get a bit sleepy over here, so please bear with me. I made it my priority to post my lists today - FINALL! So doing it!
Please ignore some of my typos and perhaps… half thoughts. These notes are mostly written for myself, so undoubtedly they are plastered with thoughts and ideas for, well, me! tyw = denotes personal thoughts, add-ons, or actions for myself. Skimming this list below, some new notes and thoughts. (Scroll to the bottom for my latest thoughts. Don’t want to distract from the post!) 2021 Reading…

2020 Reading List {#tywlife}
Hi friends/fellow blog readers! I'm backkk. I think. I've missed you a lot and hope to start writing a lot more again this coming year. It's time. 3 years away from writing here, but this time, I'm thinking of something a little different..TBC Love, tyw
Today, on this January 3, 2024 evening, is the day I finally publish my book lists! For the longest time, I’ve been tracking my books in a massive list over on this My Reading List page. (This is going to be my new home where you’ll be able to find my reading lists from across the years – so feel free to check them out! I’m beginning to learn & accept that I like being a curator of content –…

Good Bye, 2021
I’ll admit. 2020...and 2021 were pretty sh*tty years. Asterisks included, yes.
While my every day self would try to find every ounce of optimism about it, I’ll just say it here. It was shit. In SO MANY WAYS. For EVERY ONE. (Don’t kid yourself.)
I don’t know what it is though. But I have a good feeling about 2022. A REALLY GOOD feeling. And even if that means the housing market might burst soon. Or food prices are going to go up.
So I have 2020 and 2021 to thank for these awesome sentiments and feelings I have about 2022. And I apologize for swearing earlier.
It’s because of 2020 and 2021 that I got to build myself, sit with myself, sit with my feelings, and begin doing some things about it. I had friends who appeared in my life (whether old or new) and they just showed up. With tender loving arms WIDEEE open. That’s magic. There’s magic. And fuck, that’s beautiful.
Well, I said the “f-word”. Good job! And kicked off 2022 with it :D Perhaps I’ll say that’s how I know 2022 is GOING TO BE FUCKING AWESOME.
- Peace!

2020: A Sweet Year
2020: A Sweet Year
[This content below was shared along with a photo of some salted caramel I made on Instagram. Limited by a word count, I was forced to be succinct! Cheers!] This year, I failed a ton. And by that, I mean I fell so many times in all aspects of my life, I wasn’t sure when I’d actually leave the pavement, mud, my bed. And while cooking & baking was sometimes a refuge, it inevitably became a…

COVID-19 | A Collection of Digital Resources for Us
Dear friends,
I started getting nostalgic as I was drafting this post and went down a different route, so I’ve started from scratch. This time, I’ll get right to the point.
Below is a list of resources I’ve seen shared by friends: Free athletic classes online, yoga/meditation, virtual tours of cool museums/galleries around the world, and some performances now available.
By compiling them here, I…

Dear Tuesday
When we’re a child, all we want to do is grow up. Whatever that meant.
As adults, we pretend we know what is going on. In reality, there’s so much procrastination, so many lies, and so many moments filled with not knowing.
No one said we had to be perfect. And the definition of perfection is often not even defined for us. So what are we chasing - in this temporary world?
A dream? A self-fulfilling goal? For whom? At what expense?
The more exposure I get to corporations, the more I realize there’s so much of life left out of the 9-5. By life, I mean humanity. The lack of love and love for one another.
Where do we find such a love? How do we bring it into our 9-5, 5-9, and 9-9?
Design thinking? More like design hacking.
Humans, you boggle my mind with your inconsistent ways. Your rolling emotions. Your goals. Your beautiful abnormalities. Your desires. The way you look at one another. The way you treat each other. How you think one way and do another. Your motivations. The voices inside your heart and head.
Cool. I’m watching you.

[Podcast Notes] HBR Ideacast: The Making of a Manager – with Julie Zhuo, VP Product at Facebook
podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/hbr-ideacast/id152022135
Some takeaways:
– key skill for a manager is learning to work Through things WITH others
– a manager is not necessarily the smartest person in the room (and neither the longest tenured or has the most experience in your field)
– key role is to help others meet the goals they’ve / you’ve set together
– to be a good manager is to be brutally…
