As I’ve recently gotten Netflix, I have an abundance of viewing pleasure at my nimble fingertips so expect more lovely and lengthy posts on this bog. Currently, I’m watching,

-House of Cards -Daredevil -Warehouse 13

Then I will start,

-Entourage -Orange Is The New Black -Sons of Anarchy (only need to finish it, I’ve been glued to this for a long time) -Anything I can possibly find from Marvel, so expect some Agent Carter fangirling

Best Book I’ve Read All Year- The Man Who Forgot His Wife, John O’Farrell

Funny and charming, this book is just a delight to read! It’s an easy read, the plot is very simple but with the style and characters used, it makes for a light hearted and memorable experience. I loved it!

A Charity You Should Give To This Year- (RED)

  For every free download of U2’s new song, the Bank of America will give $1 towards (RED), a charity for AIDS sufferers. They have a huge following at the moment (backed largely by the Dallas Buyers Club) with an awesome variety of items to buy that donate money to the charity. Every penny counts!

Film Character of the Year- Daniel Bruhl’s Niki Lauda

  Daniel Bruhl didn’t have an easy job playing the iconic race car driver who showed little emotion and suffered life threatening burns in a horrific car crash. And to make it even harder, it was all based on a true story! Rush was said to be one of the best films of 2013 and Daniel’s portrayal of the incredible character was highly admirable.

Book Character of the Year- Jay Gatsby, The Great Gatsby

  The Great Gatsby had a great year in 2013. The movie was greeted with high praise and so were the actors who played the characters. However, the outstanding character of the book had to be Jay Gatsby! He was brought to the attention of the general public all over again with the 2013 film, but nothing beats the original book. If you’re looking for a fascinating lead character, then Gatsby is your man!

Album of the Year- Jimmy Eat World-Damage

  Jimmy Eat World have an impressive back catalogue but their latest album, Damage, is some of their best work. With variety and substance, this album has songs that will make you weep, smile and want to fall in love. An effortless, minimal album that is easy on the ear and makes for a great listening experience.

Music News: Sleeping With Sirens guitarist Jesse Lawson has announced his departure from the group to focus on family and his next (as yet unnamed) musical venture.

Jesse Lawson has announced that he will be leaving Sleeping With Sirens to focus on his family and his new music adventures. Apparently there aren't any hard feelings between Jesse and the band but could Kellin's 'rockstar' attitude have a little bit to do with it? It's very possible- after his Twitter spat at Oli Sykes, the band have faced some criticism where Jesse was sucked into the mix with people saying that he writes all the lyrics and is the true talent. Or maybe he just needs a change of scenery music-wise! However, I wish him all the best

Anna Wintour (Editor of Vogue) has done what just about every teenager out there has wanted! Rules have been tightened for models trying to get onto the cover or inside any Vogue magazine worldwide by making sure that people with eating disorders cannot feature. With Vogue being one of the most popular fashion magazines in the world, this is a massive step in fashion and one no one will regret. Hopefully this will help self-image and other magazines will follow suite.

Underrated Actors

Daniel Bruhl is taking the film world by storm, winning over critics left, right and centre with his incredible acting and charm. Having starred in quite a few European favourites like And If We All Lived Together (Et si on vivait tous ensemble?) and Good Bye Lenin! and landing parts in some of the most highly anticipated films of the year - Rush (2013) and The Fifth Estate (2013) - suggests that Daniel would be a household name by now but yet he is still a talented European poster boy, on the cusp of worldwide greatness. However his real Blockbuster breakthrough came when he bagged a role in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds, where he played a Nazi War Hero who has a movie made of his great achievements and it is at the premiere of the film that Brad Pitt’s Nazi-killers decide to kill all the German high powers. 

2013 has been a good year for the Spanish-born German actor but 2014 is set to be even bigger as he is set to be part of the new film about the surroundings of the Amanda Knox murder trial, The Face Of An Angel. This incredibly talented actor has really proved himself this year and I think he is one to watch!
