sorry for the lack of contact and content, July hasn't been nearly as nice to me as June (also i'm sick so no updates for a week)

still finding little bits of story for my AU though

edit: I had a dream where BTR was building something for a project, and I was the manager or something?? Idk it didn't make much sense. I'm still sick

edit 2: I'm still freaking sick ughhhh but looking at my notes on the AU (half of them are just plain sappy lol) makes me smile so that's what's getting me through this

edit 3: I'm mostly better but I have a cough that won't go away entirely, and it hurts so it escalates itself into coughing fits. But it's August and my brain has decided that's good so my mood has improved! :D

I just want to thank the BTR fandom for existing. 💛

I've had my happiest month in years and am currently on the edge between tearing up and sobbing my heart out because of a fic, and it's all so wonderful and amazing, and I can't explain how much this fandom has affected me or even the exact emotions it makes me feel, but please know you are all part of a positive change in my life that I really needed, and I love you all. /positive+platonic

season one headcanons!!

growing up, james’s dad only ever would play rock and metal music and james actually really likes it as well as pop

carlos thinks that being attracted to all genders is the default

camille has autism and that’s why she’s able to connect so well to her roles

logan uses he/they pronouns and also has autism

kendall learned how to sew after ripping his hockey uniform

gustavo is in the closet and that’s why he struggles with writing real, emotional love songs

• As a rock and metal fan myself, I feel like James has recognized some of the useful vocal techniques it employs, as well as learning to avoid the more harmful methods. I mean come on, the way he sang "life will never be the same" and his parts in The City Is Ours were so not just pop! (Also, his dad's disdain for pop and boybands is what caused him to flub during the audition for Gustavo, because he's not used to seeing such an unimpressed/negative response to his singing, to him, except from his rock & roll father. He's pretty much the only person James gets anything like stage fright around.)

• 100% (Carlos would definitely say "If you're, hot, you're hot!" if someone asked about his sexuality, and probably be confused when they ask if that means he likes guys, too. Like, were they not listening?)

• I've never thought about this, but it actually makes a lot of sense! (This is probably a bit rambly, but-) She puts so much into her method acting, like setting up the rigging for her "flying witch" bit, like she knows she needs to put everything she's got into the roles, even if she doesn't get the parts. (And maybe that's why she doesn't get some of them - because they can't handle her being her given character all the time. She's kind of ✨extra✨ and the people holding the auditions can see that, and not the somewhat-chill girl underneath it.) I don't even know if that's connected to this, but her dedication is pretty impressive, other than the slapping people.

• I can't explain how happy the pronouns one made me, it just feels so right. He totally is autistic, of course! Seeing "Logan uses he/they pronouns" really made me smile, though. 🥰 I've already adopted using them in my head. lol

• I don't have much to say about this one but yes. (I wonder if he tried to keep it a secret from Katie so he wouldn't have to make clothes for her toys, or if he learned how to make some as a surprise for her.)

• I can also kind of see Gustavo being on the aromantic spectrum, actually - still closeted - and not knowing it, so he just kind of, uses what others do and say as inspiration, and follows the hereronormative expectation of "boys sing about girls". He didn't exactly get to socialize with others his age and discover anything but what was expected of him when he was a kid, after all.

When "Count On You" comes on (in my BTR Spotify playlist), I keep imagining James and Kendall singing "Count On You" as a duet, and keep having to blink and remember Jordin is singing. (Which is hilarious because I keep singing her parts with her notes.) And it's not even necessarily romantic, despite the song obviously having been intended to be romantic. But it makes me feel like the guys could have done more duets with the other two in the background, in different combos, because they have different dynamics and it would just be fun to hear them explore that in their music.

It is Wednesday night here, so my birthday is just over 24 hours away. Yay! ✨ And then, ArtFight.

My birthday is on Friday (June 30th), and then Canada Day + HKSAR Establishment Day, and then Sunday, then my cousin's birthday, then US Independence day, and then my friend's birthday on July 21st, but we usually celebrate Canada Day with dinner together as like a joint birthday thing. (It's funny because we're American.)

also! I had a dream three nights ago and literally all I remember from it is that Kendall had a ponytail, and dang, it has reappeared in one dream and several daydreams since then. It was just Kendall, but like someone had photoshopped a ponytail behind his head. I can't shake it.

Maybe there was something about spies?? Idk my dreams are always super random but BTR has made more appearances in them recently than any media I've ever been into in my entire life, it's absolutely wild how fast it attached itself to my brain.

I love world-building for my AUs of things <3 so I'll put factoids in this reblog! Try checking back once a week if you want more!

Factoid 1: Gustavo doesn't go to Minnesota like in canon because he finds The Windmills earlier on in his search for talent, which puts him in Griffin's good graces because they can do pretty much any kind of music he wants them to and they'll make him money - pop, classical, children's audiobooks, Tibetan throat singing. Extra points for not breaking stuff all the time.
