As a long-time Dragon Age fan, I'm gratefully disappointed by Veilguard. But the most diabolical thing they did that completely threw me off the rails was wiping out the world we had built up through the previous three games.

No world import was one thing, but disregarding the last 3 games and only telling the fate of the world through a letter? That's ridiculous. I already disliked Veilguard for a plethora of reasons, but this is just absolutely baffling.

Let's not mention the secret shadow organization that was controlling everything from far away. Like please.

I truly hope Bioware won't do another Dragon Age game, they already destroyed what they could.

Did people forget to have fun while shipping characters? Does a ship have to be 100% canon for it to exist? The answer is NO.

I'm talking about this because I've been seeing people commenting under a lot of Jayvik videos/fanarts on platforms saying "actually they aren't lovers, they are brothers", "um, this is brotherly love". Like my friend, are you new to fandom space and culture? Why are you fighting with your life trying to change my opinion about a ship?

You can come into my house, present me with a 445-slide presentation with every single small detail from the show on why YOU think that it's platonic or brotherly, and I will sit on my couch and still write and read my little Jayvik fanfiction, like the twentieth Jayvik fanart, and edit because I enjoy the ship.

Newer people to fandoms are so adamant about trying to prove their point, when just because something isn't 100% canon doesn't mean it has no right to exist. Have fun people! Learn to deviate from canon, it's delightful.

P.S.: I'm being generous here and believe that these people aren't just homophobes who get the shivers whenever they see an mlm ship, canon or fanon.

I'm finally back.! My pc was DEAD, and then I got back into my Baldur's Gate 3 gameplay and suddenly forgot time was a thing. Ooopsie. Anyway, I also finished watching Arcane and I plan to do some posts about it, going into characters and plot BUT I'm also thinking about making some youtube video, reviewing, character analysis, plot exploration etc. Would anyone be interested in it?

On the other hand, an update on my WIP. I have the whole Act 1 planned out, I just need to write it, wish me luck sjsjsj. Also I might feel the process of creating my characters, from moodboard to drawing.

A very firm yet gentle reminder that you don't need to buy the expensive and fancy courses of your favourite authors to be able to write a book. You don't need to buy the fifth book about story structure. You don't need scrivener or notion or any kind of fancy site to keep your ideas organized.

You don't need to feel bad if you want to buy these but can't afford it.

You can be a writer with a simple Word document, journal and a pen and sticky notes.

If you want to buy them, do as you please. But this is just a reminder that these things are not required to become a writer.

CHARACTER DESIGN WIP

Spent way too long trying to color those eyes, but I absolutely love how they turned out.

I want writers to understand that if your character, for example, doesn't care about anyone but themselves, they won't start caring for someone the second they meet them. That's NOT true to the character's personality and throws away their agency because it's not what the character would do but what the author wants them to do.

Let your character's personality and traits be explored, and let them slowly understand that their philosophy is flawed and needs to change. Then, they can start caring for others and seeing others more than a nuance.

The thing about writing is that it's not pretty, it's not aesthetically pleasing. Sure, you can snap a photo of your journal, your coffee, or your music, but behind all these photos, writing is hard. It's full of doubting, jealousy, and guilt. There are days when I love writing, I love my story, and my characters, and there are days when I absolutely despise it and want to delete everything. Writing is hard, but that's the beauty in it, because in the end, hopefully, we will create something beautiful that will touch people's hearts, make them think, and perhaps they will see the world in a different light.

So, please, don't give up on your writing. You may be going through an I hate this day, but soon an I love it day will follow. Cherish it, and keep writing.

A word of advice, write fanfiction. Surprisingly, they do help. You can practice outlining with them, editing, and even exploring themes or stories that you can't with your current project or want to implement in your book but don't know how.

Characters who are always right and never make mistakes are boring. Let your characters fuck up, let them make mistakes, let them be wrong, let them be the bad guy in someone else's eyes.

Not everyone needs to love your character, that's where conflict comes from. Do they hate them because they were a shitty friend, perhaps a bad customer? Who knows, the important thing is that your character can't live their life constantly being the good guy, the always right guy, the never fucked up anything in their life guy.

When you let your character make mistakes, you have the chance to show how they react. Is their first response trying to make it right, or are they running away? It tells so much about them, much more than oh they just always guess everything perfectly.

Even smart people make mistakes, your character should too.

Let them be guilty, let their shame be known. Let them try again and again to make it right, and if they fail again, let them crumble.

There are so many interesting opportunities in showing the “uglier” side of a character, where they aren't perfect or right all the time, because then we can see under the surface, the darker parts that most people try to conceal. You can then craft a story of growth from these shadowy parts, bring them to light, and let your character learn from them, so the next time they can make a better decision.

WIP Announcement

I'm happy to announce my current work in progress, currently named as AND WE SHALL REMAIN.

It's a dark fantasy standalone story, set in a faraway magical land, where we follow the protagonist Silvi kor Ysver on her journey to redemption and finding herself.
