Jake the Comic Artist
Tumblr media
Case №478-23
Status: Open
Incident Date: November 25, 2006
Location: Dunwich Suburb, Brahams, 566 Starview Road
Suspect: Unknown (Codename "Jake the Comic Artist")
Weapon: Hockey stick
Officer on Scene: Detective Dane Murphy
CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE INCIDENT
At 2:37 A.M., a 911 call was received from Lakelyn J. Waverly, age 14. She reported that someone was breaking into the window of the house next door.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Dwight Riley, age 17, unconscious, as well as the deceased body of Cody Marshall.
The victim was found inside a running washing machine. His body displayed numerous bruises and contusions, multiple broken bones, and a crushed skull. Before being placed in the washing machine, Cody had been severely beaten with a long wooden object, possibly a hockey stick with metal reinforcements (as seen in surveillance footage from Overlott Plaza) or a baseball bat.
A piece of paper was found inside the victim’s mouth. Upon examination, it was revealed to be a comic strip drawn in the distinctive style of the known killer codenamed "Jake the Comic Artist". The strip depicted the main character (presumably Cody Marshall) being beaten with a hockey stick by a figure in an orange beanie, before being stuffed into a washing machine.
WITNESS STATEMENTS
Dwight Riley, 17 years old:
"They just asked me to babysit him. That’s it. Cody’s parents went out to see a movie, and my only job was to take care of that little brat. This is my fault. He died because of me."
"It all started with pets. Some psycho in our neighborhood began beating dogs and cats to death. We reported it to the police, but they just shrugged it off. So my friends and I decided to catch the bastard ourselves."
"We got some mutt from a shelter. We weren’t monsters, okay? Nothing was supposed to happen to the dog. We were supposed to catch that freak before anything bad happened."
"Days went by. The dog stayed with me—we named him Chips. I took care of him the best I could, but at night, we left him outside and kept watch."
"Then I started finding weird drawings in my house. That psycho was sneaking in and hiding them everywhere to mess with me! They were comics, and every single one showed me dying. Then it got worse—first, it was small bones. Then one day, I found a finger. I swear, it was Tatum Beauregard’s finger. She disappeared six months ago. I wanted to take it to the police, but the day I finally decided to, the finger just… vanished."
"Then came the nightmares. My parents started sending me to shrinks, stuffing me with pills. And then the Marshalls—our neighbors across the street—asked me to babysit their kid while they were away. I don’t usually do babysitting, but buying Chips hit my wallet hard, so I agreed."
"Everything was fine until midnight. I fed Cody, we watched some TV. He fell asleep, so I left him on the couch in the living room. Then I went to the kitchen and saw someone outside the window. It was a guy in an orange beanie—I think… I think it was pulled down over his face, but he had holes cut for the eyes. He was wearing a lilac hoodie and had something slung over his back… some kind of stick, maybe a hockey stick. He was just standing there, staring at the house. At first, I was scared, but he didn’t do anything, and then he was just… gone."
"I went to bed in the guest room Mr. and Mrs. Marshall set up for me, on the second floor. I woke up because someone was beating me. Then I guess I blacked out, and when I came to, the cops were already here."
Lakelyn Joelle Waverly, 14 years old:
"I just saw someone climb through the Marshalls’ window from my bedroom. I knew Dwight was babysitting Cody that night, so I called his cellphone right away, but he didn’t answer—probably already asleep. So I dialed 911 and reported the break-in."
"Why didn’t I babysit Cody instead of Dwight? Simple. The Marshalls asked me first, but I turned them down."
EVIDENCE ANALYSIS
The Drawing:
A comic strip was found inside Cody Marshall’s mouth. The drawing was detailed and precise. Since only eight minutes had passed between the 911 call and the officers’ arrival, there wasn’t enough time for the killer to draw something this intricate on the spot. This suggests the murder was premeditated, and the victim was chosen before the killer even entered the house.
The Signature:
A red graffiti signature was found on the washing machine, reading "Jake the Comic Artist". This matches the name previously linked to the Overlott Plaza Massacre.
Lack of Fingerprints:
The killer was meticulous in erasing evidence. No fingerprints (other than those of Dwight Riley, Cody, and Cody’s parents, Elijah and Mary-Doth Marshall) were found on the window, comic strips, or anywhere else at the scene.
According to witness Lakelyn J. Waverly, the suspect was not wearing gloves, meaning he deliberately wiped away his prints after committing the crime.
PROFILE OF THE SUSPECT
Based on the nature of the crime and eyewitness descriptions, it is believed that Cody Marshall was murdered by the serial killer known as "Jake the Comic Artist.
Suspect Description:
White male, approximately 19-22 years old
Slim build
Wears an orange beanie with eye holes, a lilac hoodie, and torn pants
Carries a hockey stick (used as a weapon)
This suspect is likely responsible for the murders of four workers at Overlott Plaza, who were also beaten to death, and each had a comic drawing in their mouths.
Unconfirmed reports suggest he may be linked to the disappearances of multiple pets in the Dunwich suburbs.
CONCLUSION
The identity and whereabouts of the killer remain unknown. Increased police patrols in the suburbs are recommended.
A recording of Cody Marshall’s 911 call has been attached to the case file.
Possible escalation to the Federal Bureau of Investigation under consideration.
