Mysterious Island
This is our first Ray Harryhausen film, but if you’ve ever heard us reference the man, the myth, the legend that is the OG stop-motion master, you’ll know we hold him in high regard. While this film shows his ability, it’s less fantastical than some of his others. You can listen to the whole episode here.

New Review and Upcoming Events
You know how much I enjoy reader reviews. This 5-star review just popped up on Goodreads for Reaper of the Harvest. “A gruesome story of small town comeuppance. Violent and gory, this book scratched that horror itch. Played with several tropes in a way that felt new and fun.” Always like to know readers are happy. If you’d like to give Reaper of the Harvest a whirl for this coming beach read…

Blast from the Past
We dug this film up from the video shelves of the early 90s. It was a staple for a lot of kids and features the same team of David Allen and Charles Band as our last episode. Without further ado, we bring you the prehistoric life of Prehysteria! You can listen to this episode here.

The Primevals
This film’s production is as or more interesting as the film itself. The final project of stop-motion legend David Allen; The Primevals was “lost” for almost 30 years before being released in 2023. Join us on this ride as we discuss the creatures, the film, and its storied history. You can listen here.

The Howling (1981)
We’ve never hidden the fact that we aren’t fans of The Howling 3: The Marsupials; the only movie that owes us popcorn. We decided to go back to the start of the franchise and see if 3 is a weak entry of if the entire franchise was just awful. You’ll need to join us to hear our verdict. You can listen here.

Knoxville wrap-up
Knoxville Book Festival was last weekend, and it was a great show. I got to meet alot of new readers, some new writer friends, and hang out with writer pals. Gathering with other creatives is always refreshing and a great way to recharge those creative juices. Next week, on April 16th, I’ll be discussing writing and publishing books at the New Georgia Public Library at 2:30. If you’re in the…

Godmonster of Indian Flats (1973)
This 1973 “film” is on par with our last review of the film Bog. We never find out why it’s called a Godmonster and based on this movie it seems to be an afterthought. This film made us the April fools for the year. You can listen to the misadventure here.

Bog
From 1979 comes this little known film that was shot in the Wisconsin area. You won’t find an actual bog in the film, or a marsh, or a swamp, but you will find a creature unlike anything else we’ve reviewed. You can listen to this latest episode here.

Tremors
This creature feature is a 1990 cult classic that launched a 7- film franchise and a single season TV show. Starring Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, Reba McEntire, and Michael Gross; Tremors takes us to lovely Perfection where we meet the iconic Graboids. You can listen to our latest episode here.

The Gorgon
It is rare that we get such a star-studded cast. Dr Frankenstein, Dracula, and Doctor Who all feature in this 1964 gem from UK powerhouse Hammer Studios. A regular of the films we review, Peter Cushing leads this cast alongside Christopher Lee, Patrick Troughton, and Barbara Shelley. An interesting mystery/possession story, but tune in to hear what we really think of it. You can listen here.

Mid Ga Lit Fest and where I'll be next
Last weekend, I attended the Middle GA Lit Fest. I have to tell you this 1-day show in Warner Robins was a blast. I got to see some of my writer friends, while also meeting a lot of great readers. To everyone who came out, it was a pleasure getting to meet you. For anyone, who couldn’t make it. I’m not done yet. I’ll be at ConNooga from 2/21-2/23, the Dalton-Whitfield County Library on 3/29, the…

Gargoyles, but not the one you think
In 1972, Stan Winston did makeup effects for a low budget made for TV movie. This movie was Gargoyles. It’s not Disney’s animated masterpiece from the 90s, but it’s definitely something special. You can hear our review here.

What do you think?
I recently was approached to create a themed recommendation list based on my novel Friedkin’s Curse for Shepherd.com. The topic that I chose was classic monsters in modern settings because Friedkin’s Curse has that, but it’s also something I enjoy reading. You can check out my recommendation list here. Shepherd.com is a project that the creator developed because of his own frustration with…

Split Second (1992)
Rutger Hauer and Kim Cattrall headline this 1992, straight to video, scifi action film. This film has a lot of opportunity and an interesting premise, but can it deliver on it? You can listen here to see what we think.
