Aside from maybe an eye rig and other misc details on the back, I think I am pretty much done with this character!
Initial rigging chicanery was scary but hey it worked out alright!
oc LORE: So, this "golem," automaton, whatever, is actually one among many others who tend to the garden and other facilities on the Heartbase. They (as I'm currently writing) don't have an assigned gender, but I'd like to hear ideas for names. "Charlie" is one I really like.

So after finding no tutorials or threads on the subject and like eight combined hours of throwing random constraints at the wall, I finally figured out how to do IK telescopic arms with pose-ability comparable (ish) to bendy bones.
..I still have a bit of work to do on this character, texturing the legs, adding now limb system to the torso and neck, fixing a few ickys here and there, but overall I'm really pleased with the results they're so cool/fun to play with I'm pretty happy with it.

Overall like how they're turning out, not totally set on color scheme yet. I want the arms to be able to telescope out but not sure how to do that with IK bendy arms.

Design has pulls from many inspirations, such as Hollow Bastion (Kingdom Hearts,) Laputa (Castle in the Sky,) Rosalina's Observatory (Super Mario Galaxy,) and Wonka's chocolate factory (Wonka Film 1971.)
I don't think I showed this off before so, here there be a model of da sword which my avatar will use in various animation / dev videos.
I think there was a joke in here somewhere about a pen utilizing the might of a sword ..or was it vise versa..? Anyway, it's simple in it's design but I love the asymmetry of the silhouette (..also a nod to the keyblade.)
As is tradition I do not have a name set for this device.. "Heartmarker" is what I'm rolling with rn, open to suggestions.
I also spent a good amount of time messing around with different sprite expressions. I tried to retain the spirit and limitations of the original 16bit sprites, but with a newfound injection of vibrancy to his character. He feels so much better personified with these new expressions, but I guess we'll see how they stick.
Based on posts I made on threads/instagram the people seem set on "Bill Board" as his name, so I thought I'd make it official and give him a cute little a nametag! I still might change it later if yall come up with / prefer a better one. (I'm partial to "Vieward" as one alternative.)
just turned 26, have no idea what i'm doing with my life, and then valentine's day shows up to remind me i am alone. haha. Here's a chibi Lance I drew to encapsulate my current mental state.
A peek at an OC for the RPG I'll definitely totally make some day. I am still not sure on what his name should be, (as is the case with basically all my characters.) For now I'm calling him "Gaelus," but idk if it really fits. Will see. -Let me know if you have any suggestions. And hey if you want to read a quick character bio on this guy, here ya go:
~ Growing up in a society centric to flight proved discouraging for a bird born with one wing. In childhood he would cross paths with an inventor, and together the two worked to create a prosthetic arm.
..As he grew older, he took an occupation as a mercenary as a means to prove his resolve; whether to himself, or society. -He despises the notion of people looking down on him as they did in his youth, so he carries himself with a palpable sense of fortitude that could brave any storm. The dangers of mercenary work do not frighten him but are nevertheless nothing to be trifled with, ..and so early on he had his hand further modified so that it also functions as a gun. Yes, he has a gun for a hand.
Currently troubleshooting my HEAVILY revised toon shader for blender eevee. It's not perfect, certain elements I still can't get to behave EXACTLY how I want for every given scenario, ..but overall, I'm very happy with the progress and versatility made thus far. Animation demonstrating it's various effects will come ..eventually. ..Hopefully. Stay tuned for more updates.
Thought I'd start posting some older animations/renders I made waaay back. This was an animation/shader test part of a Mario fan pilot thingy I started around 2015/2016 before giving up on it to pursue more feasible/original projects.
I believe this and the bobomb buddy were some of the first characters I ever modeled, rigged, and animated in blender, as they were a fairly simple challenge when broken down to their base components. I'd really like to come back and revisit them with my current artstyle in the future.
..A render test tangential to a larger animation project. I tried to replicate an Arcane sort of style, though honestly I think I still have a bit of work left to do on it. Ignore the eyes moving about in the background they are not important.
