Comedian Matt Rife responds to Netflix special outrage by linking to'special needs helmets'

Matt Rife's new Netflix stand-up comedy special, "Natural Selection," has been panned after clips of him joking about domestic violence went viral on Monday.

Rife, who has been a comedian for over a decade and has been on MTV's "Wild 'n Out," responded to his critics generally on Monday afternoon in his Instagram story.

"If you've ever been offended by a joke I've told — here's a link to my official apology," he wrote in an email. The link in his Instagram story takes you to a medical website that offers special-needs helmets.

Rife's representatives did not respond to several requests for comment.

"Natural Selection," which aired on Netflix on Wednesday, addresses issues such as social media trolls, spirituality, and having children.
