Connecting with others
Tumblr media
Connecting with people
Throughout my life I rarely fit into any kind of circle and I was always considered the black sheep of the family. On my moms side you have a bunch of ultra religious westernized working class immigrants, and on my dads side you have a bunch of inner city drug dealers, rapists, and murders. Now while I love them all, I just never personally fit in to any of their molds.
I am self loathing at times, I care about the well being of others, I am artistic, and am a huge geek with a fetish for Japanese culture. Due to the fact that my interests are outside of the normalities of an every day person of my stature, many people would often shun me for not being another clone or for having my own beliefs or approaches to life.
Things changed though as I got older and the world became more digital. As of late Ive learned that the best way I can connect with others would be through similar interests in video games and music(the only things in life I care about) and so here I am as I embark on a journey through the internet to connect with other likeminded individuals. The world is filled with beauty and I take personal pride in embracing and uncovering that beauty even when life can take a dark turn...
And yeah that’s about it, thanks for reading.

Opinions of DMC5
Tumblr media
Released: March 8, 2019
Publisher: Capcom
Since this game has released, its been a subject of debate among my nerd friends and myself. This is due to the lackluster Co op, and the length of the game itself. Now dont get me wrong, as a lover of classic Devil May Cry, I was very excited to see that they were going to be releasing a part 5 instead of a continuation of the revamped title that they released the last time around. So after getting my hands on it and playing it here and there for a few weeks, while juggling various aspects of a semi average adult life,  id say this game definitely deserves the praise its getting. The visual graphics are gorgeous, the animations and combat mechanics are solid, and the story was well put together. My only complaints (in addition to my friends’) is that there isn’t more content to sink my teeth in, but I think its just how over the recent years, I became conditioned to these huge open world titles with all this extra content and loot boxes being shoved down my throat. Regardless of this, If you are a fan of the series or just like action games in general, this game is definitely for you!

Japanese Role Playing Games: Modern art at its finest
Tumblr media
JRPG's are probably my most favorite genre in video gaming. This is because of the amount of love, many of these developers pour into their projects, despite their budgets which are usually significantly less than other triple A title genre such as the Call of dutys or Assassins Creeds. The JRPG genre introduced me to video gaming back in the late 90s. During this time, the genre was very lively, with many amazing titles realizing simultaneously such as final fantasy, Dragon quest, Grandia, wild arms, Pokemon, etc.
For me this genre instantly became special in my eyes through the way that the games ingeniously approached musical compositions, artwork , strategy, and story telling. Playing a JRPG is literally an intimate interaction  between you and the writers, composers, and artists, while assuming the role as some spiky haired main protagonist(s).
Fast forwarding to today, I feel like the genre is becoming over convoluted in some ways.
Nowadays there are thousands of JRPGs being released on a constant basis, and it feels that a majority are just cash grabs and the devs are only meeting contractual agreements instead of pouring their souls into the product. For this reason, whenever an amazing game in this genre comes out. I try to spread awareness and even share my experiences with my friends who aren't into the genre themselves. Regardless on what the future holds I believe this genre will forever hold a special place in my heart, unless they somehow come up with an even better version in the future(maybe VRJRPG lol).
(One final note:
The indie RPG scene’s power level is rapidly increasing these days. So if you're looking for games that are made with as much love as the classics but already beat all the classics, I suggest looking into some indie titles like 'Undertale', 'Star dew valley', and the soon to be released 'Knuckle Sandwich').

My first experience with “magic mushrooms”
Tumblr media
Around the time I was eighteen I dropped out of high school and moved into an apartment with my ex-girlfriend and her mom. At the time I was depressed and angry with the world because of the many hardships I faced throughout my inexperienced life Including: sexual and physical abuse, the death of friends and relatives, and much betrayal from people who I thought had loved me. Also, to say the least, things did not turn out too well for me and my girlfriend either (I found out from her mother that she was cheating on me with our landlord and my cousin). But even though it was mostly a bad experience, there was one event that happened in this apartment which has changed my perspective on life forever. This was my introduction to psychedelic drugs.
One day my best friend (Dwyne) frantically busted into our apartment with about two ounces of psilocybin (magic) mushrooms and asked me if I was ready to “escape the matrix”. Me being very brash at the time, I chowed down on about a quarter of these cashew tasting mushrooms and sat down with my buddy to play some good ole Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. As we intensely played for about a half hour, blow for blow, I noticed something strange beginning to happen. I was overcome by an unusual sense of euphoria and the warriors on the screen began to transcend the borders of the TV and started merging with the Living room walls. Suddenly it hit me, “holy fuck I am tripping balls!” I turned to look over to my buddy whose orange shirt was glowing so brightly that I could see a reflection shinning off his grinning face. I immediately scrambled out of my chair and ran for the hall way screaming “what the fuck did you do to me!?” That night I laughed, cried, watched people’s faces melt, and was consumed by an overwhelming feeling of satisfaction and empathy for the trials and tribulations that I had faced as well as the many people I have encountered throughout my life. I also realized that the world was a lot more beautiful than how my negative perspectives led me to view things. The night was wonderful and after becoming accustomed to what it felt like to trip, I realized that loved it, which led me to experimenting with other psychedelic drugs including LSD, Salvia, DMT, Ketamine, and MDMA.
Till this day, if not for the purpose of meditation or self-reflection, my favorite thing to do is to isolate myself and admire the beauty of video games or music while in a deep hallucination. I am personally not advocating drugs or anything, but I think everyone deserves to experience the love of a psychedelic trip at least one point or another in their lives.

A few rappers that are actually talented
Tumblr media
Rap is probably my favorite (but not the only) genre of music to listen to, and its not that I have anything against artists like BluFace, 21 Savage, or Lil pump
but I personally require a degree of substance in the artwork I choose to consume dammit! Therefore, I tend to stray away from most mainstream garbage(with a few exceptions here or there).
So if you like underground rap, old school hip hop, or are questioning if there IS any actual kind of substance left within this popular genre, here are a few artists and some of their songs that you may want to check out if you haven't already heard of them: . . Earl Sweatshirt -(a young rap prodigy)- . Recommended songs: 'Knight' (2013) 'Wind in my sails'(2016)'The mint' (2018) . Flow: Somewhat subdued and yet youthful sounding . Lyrics: Self loathing, highly introspective, Advanced tier rhyming structures . Beats: Uses alot of sampled beats from classic jazz and soul music (many of which he produced himself). . . . . Joey Bad@ss -(a very talented (B)east coast rapper)- . Recommended songs: '95 til infinity'(2013) 'Christ Conscious'(2014) 'Infinity888' (2018) . Flow: Aggressive, New York Legend inspired, Advanced tier rhyming structure . Lyrics: Very impacting, Spiritual, Deep subject matter . Beats: Ranges between mostly samples and experimental trap beats(club bangers) . . . .
Flat Bush Zombies (the psychedelic group of Eric the Architect, Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice) . Recommended songs: 'GNB' (2013),'Your favorite rap song',(2016), 'Leather symphony'(2018) . Flow:  (Varying between each member)[Aggressive, Gritty, Symphonic], New York- legend inspired, . Lyrics:  Intelligent, Spiritual, Uplifting, Introspective . Beats: ranges between various samples, experimental trap type beats (club bangers) . . . . MIKE (yep his name is just mike...) . Recommended songs: Pigeon feet(2016),Ghost in a shell (2016) Hell (2015) . Flow: Heavy handed, Unorthodox . Lyrics: Introspective, Highly spiritual, Intelligent . Beats: Samples, Very experimental . . . Ade Hakim/6 Press(a highly talented producer) . Recommended songs: World full of lies(2016), . Flow: Somewhat subded, Mellow, Unorthodox rhyme schemes . Lyrics: Spiritual, Uplifting, Introspective, . Beats: Self produced, Ranges between samples and experimental beats . . . .Bonus recommendation: . Chester Watson- 'Smog'(2017), . Jakk the rhymer- 'ODD'(2018)

Kingdom Hearts 3: a relatively fun Disney/Square Enix crossover
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Release date: Janurary 25,  2019
Publishers: Square Enix/ Disney Interactive Studios
I have been a fan of the series since I was a child, so I bought KH3 on the release date of course, but didn’t have a chance to play it much due to work, school, and everything. A few days ago, though, I finally beat the game and I was utterly amazed by the end game boss fights! The ending was so perfect and was everything I had hoped for in the years waiting for it. The game even gave me some closure in my personal disappointment of the seemingly incomplete battle system of FFXV (no offense to anybody). Now while this game in no way was a masterpiece, I believe it was a major step in the right direction. I believe this game deserves praise for its beautiful and fully voiced animated cut scenes throughout, and its improved combat system (even though we weren’t able to dual wield key blades this time around). As far as disappointments, I felt that the story pacing was a bit boring at times and they got rid of my beloved final fantasy characters. :’( Hopefully Square Enix takes a similar direction in the combat systems of the upcoming final fantasy remake.

Sekiro: shadows die twice, a game that I would order an authentic katana and perform ritual disembowelment to play right now
Tumblr media
Sekiro: Shadows Die twice
Publisher: From Software/Activison
Will be Released: March 22, 2019
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is the next big triple A title in line, set to be released by FromSoftware, on the above-mentioned release date. I have been extremely fucking excited for this game for many different reasons. I think most importantly to me, I really fucking love Japanese folk lore as well as the many different romanticized forms of artwork that center around this time period (Books, Manga, Artworks, retro video games). Another reason is that there aren’t too many great JRPGs that are centered on feudal japan, with many of them never being translated and brought over sees to the west, or some being so damn old they’re nearly unplayable.
[It is important to note that a game called Nioh was released a few years back which was based during this (Sengoku) time period and took its inspiration from Dank souls’ (A From software franchise) game play structure, focusing on a brutal difficulty curb, co-op, and good environmental design. I believe its high critical acclaim and amount of sales really proved that a modern video-game based on feudal japan can indeed provide a viable business investment if marketed in the west.]
Anyways, FromSoftware is also an amazing developer, so any thing is pretty much certified to be a masterpiece that their team bestows upon us. From what I’ve learned (doing my own half assed research) in the actual game, you play as an undead shinobi/ ninja whose hell bent on rescuing his adorable miracle-blood-lord-child... from a clan of warriors(The Ashina I believe...) and possibly cultists who have basically conquered a majority of the northern regions of japan (something like a fictionalized Oda Nobunaga). While on your path towards this young lord and glory you pretty much fight through hordes of demonic creatures and warriors who are loosely based on the mythical aspects of Japanese folk lore.
I was a bit worried when I heard that Activison was going to be within a 1000 mile radius of this game‘s development team but from what I’ve read they’re just mainly helping with the promotion and bug testing(PRAISE THE DEMON BUDDAH!). If it were up to them though, we’d be paying for goddamned samurai style hair-bun-loot boxes, but we can only hope not as the game has not yet been released. Hopefully this game gets the attention and respect it deserves when it finally does release,  and I’m sure it will bring in many more newcomers to the FromSoftware’s game franchises as well.

My friend’s theory on a popular artist’s subliminal cries for help
Tumblr media
“Ok so I think Earl might be rapping a lot about heroin addiction. So we should probably be pretty concerned even though this album is God tier. Theory below: . . . . . . In red water he says two concerning lines. 1."blood in the water I was walking in my sleep" when you shoot up you use water and draw blood into the syringe by pulling back thus making blood go in the water. Heroin is a downer and like walking in your sleep.
2. "I was playing with magic hide blessings in my sleeve" he could be hiding his track marks (scars from drug abuse using needles) on his arm with sleeves
3.He has a fucking song called veins
4.In Loosie he says "mainline underneath the skin of the grapevine, save time, serpent no need to hiss....." mainlining is slang for shooting up. And the phrase "heard it through the grapevine" I think Earl is the grapevine because he's speaking to us. Shooting up is the quickest route of any intoxicant "save time." and goes on talking about casualties.
I know lames will "haha" this and call it a reach. But Earl's wordplay is crazy and I don't want this to be another Mac Miller thing. Where after his death it becomes so obvious”(Dwyne, 2019).

Another classic Jrpg
Tumblr media
Suikoden
Released in North America: 1996
Publisher: Konami
The Suikoden series is great but the first one was the most impressionable on me, personally. When I first discovered this game, I was so set on building up my roster of the 108 stars of destiny, it was kind of like Pokémon silver only if Pokémon was centered around curbing an identity in a world of political corruption while learning to accept the death of fallen comrades, and oh yeah romanticized 14th century Chinese warfare in comparison to the slavery of telepathic rat demon gods(Pokémon). Anyways I got so into this game that I didn’t go out of the house for weeks so my friends would come over the house and party it up for me, I got was focused on building armories, bathtubs, and medieval elevator shafts to install my hidden base. This game was also bugged to hell which was downright hilarious and even charming at times, but I still recommend it to anyone who is a fan of classic RPGs (especially when Konomi goes bankrupt from fucking their precious fans in the butt and starts releasing HD remaster ports of all their classics).

One of my all time favorite Jrpgs
Tumblr media
Final Fantasy 7
Released in North America: 1997
Publisher: Square
Growing up as a 90s baby with my older sister whom is four years older than me, she introduced me to a lot of her hobbies as we were both military brats and therefore were constantly moving around a lot (a few times even out of the country). During this period, our parents bought us a PlayStation 1 and she bestowed upon me, enlightenment on the wonders of the RPG genre of video gaming.
Final fantasy 7 was my introduction to this genre, filled with heartwarming but bizarre scenarios, epileptic seizure inducing sensory stimuli, and an overabundance of divine summonings that would still make the average fortnite man child awe in amazement till this day. Though I was very young at the time I still remember some of the iconic aspects of this game which I swear to you, left an everlasting impression on the very essence of my soul. This was the games beautiful score, the charming dialogue between characters, and the wide variety of options and features that the battle system was comprised of. I admittedly didn’t understand the story as much as when I replayed it years later as an adult, but the music was so damned memorable even that my now divorced parents still recognize that fanfare theme after haven’t hearing it for over 15 years! I absolutely can’t wait to join Cloud and avalanche on their 4k adventures in the future remake, hopefully we get a release date before 2029!
