Loving lies incorrect quotes
Tumblr media
Masterlist Prologue - - - Part 7
So... I realized that my characters in my story don't have many moments. I can't write all the moments i would like to so i made something like behind the scenes for you, so you can connect with these characters. And for fun all of these are canon in my story.
It was only a little idea and I hope you will enjoy these <3
Tumblr media
Maya and Lydia
Tumblr media
Maya: You're ignoring all your problems. Lydia: I know. Maya: You also know it's an unhealthy coping mechanism? Lydia: I'm ignoring that fact as well. Maya:
Lydia: You know me, Maya, I don’t take any shit. You know what I say to my haters? Maya: What? Lydia: I say: “Please don’t hate me, I’m really nice.”
Maya: Can you keep a secret? Lydia: Do you know anything about my love life? Maya: No, I don't. Good point.
Maya: I’ve become a bread crumb dealer to four crows at the black lake. They pay me with a bit of everything. Like shiny things, fabric, or pens. But recently they paid me with a 20 dollar bill they found somewhere. So I decided to buy them some more expensive bread. They loved it. So they understand what to do. Give me money. I’ve probably racked up about 200 dollars at this point. Is it morally wrong though, I mean. They’re the ones who steal the money from others. Or perhaps they just have a big pile laying somewhere. Should I keep on doing this? Lydia: You sound like the start of a Batman villain.
Maya: Caffeine no longer keeps me awake while class, so instead I have every morning Lydia saying ‘we need to talk after class.’ It gives me the right amount of adrenaline and fear I need to keep going.
Tumblr media
Seraph and Sirius
Tumblr media
Seraph : Are you alright with constructive criticism? I don't want to sound mean. Sirius: No, go ahead. I want to hear it. Seraph : You two suck together. Sirius: That's not constructive criticism.
Seraph : Quick! You must come with me! Your in great danger! Sirius: Why?! Seraph : Because I’ll kill you if you don’t.
Seraph: Is this mistletoe? Sirius: Uh, no, no, that is basil. Seraph: Too bad cause if it was mistletoe I was gonna kiss you. Sirius: Yeah, no, it’s still basil.
Tumblr media
Seraph and Leander
Tumblr media
Seraph: Why is it so hard for you to believe me?! Leander: … Seraph: Oh, right. The lying.
Leander: Come to think of it… You’ve always been nice to me. Leander: I mean, you listen to all my problems- Seraph: No, Leander I just simply stand here while you talk, there’s a big difference.
Leander: Why are you like this?? Seraph: I used too much "No More Tears" shampoo as a kid and I haven't felt a single emotion since.
Leander: So we're gathered here today for a very special reason and I think you'll all agree with me here. Leander: And if you don't well then fuck you. Leander: I'm looking at you, Seraph, you jealous mop.
Seraph: Wait you like me? For my personality? Leander: I know, I was surprised too.
Seraph: Dammit, Leander, you ruined everything between me and Sirius! Leander: You’re welcome.
Tumblr media
Seraph and (y/n)
Tumblr media
Seraph: Whisky, can I speak to you for a minute? In private. (Y/n): Ooh, someone's in trouble. It's me. I don't know why I did that.
Seraph: Deep down, I'm sure I was always pretty okay with you. (Y/n): Thanks, Seraph! Seraph: It wasn't a compliment, numbnuts.
Seraph: You’re overthinking this. (Y/n): You don’t know the appropriate level of thinking, Seraph. What if I’m underthinking?
Tumblr media
Lydia and friends
Tumblr media
Lydia: My heart is guarded but like… very poorly. The kind of guards that would let 3 kids in a trench coat into an R rated movie.
Lydia: The only straight I am is a straight-up badass.
Lydia: How late were you up last night? Luis & Luke, in tandem: Me? Lydia: No, not you two. You stay up late all the time. Lydia, (thinking Maya was on a date) to Maya: You.
Luis: What's worse than a heartbreak? Lydia: Stepping on a cat's tail and not being able to explain that you're sorry.
Luis: Hey, what are you reading? Luke: This is my magic book where any ink spilled shows a scripture of the future, however it bears a curse making it broken, and as such in order to make any scripture appears, I have to do it myself. Luis: Impressive! I must have it for myself! Maya: So it’s just a Notebook? Luke: It’s just a Notebook.
Luis: Something tells me Lydia's going to be a bit more unhinged today... Lydia, holding a lit match and a bag of cheetos: Leave me be, Maya isn't home to stop me, I'm going feral.
Luis: For most of human history, vehicles had automatic collision avoidance and could even take you home if you were asleep or drunk. But then we got rid of the horse. Luke: You complete moron. You stupid fucking idiot. "Cars would be better if they could bite and shit" – that was you just now, dumbass. Luke: "Wouldn't it be cool if cars could piss? Wouldn't it be cool if cars could fuck?" Fuck off. Maya: It would be cool if cars could fuck. Lydia: We... We still have horses.
Tumblr media
Sirius and Leander
Tumblr media
Sirius : Why can’t we all just get along? Leander: Because most of us are assholes, Sirius.
Sirius: Sorry I'm late, I was doing stuff. Leander: YOU PUSHED ME DOWN THE FUCKING STAIRS!
Leander: Let’s not Sirius this into a worse situation than it already is. Sirius: Did you just use my name as a verb?
Leander, to Sirius: You wanna fight? All right, let’s take this outside. The stars are so bright tonight and the moon looks so nice. Here, hold my hand—

Slytherin friend group
Tumblr media
Damien: Remember that time you dared me to lick a swingset? Phina: No, I said "Damien, don't lick that swingset" and you said "Don't tell me what to do" and licked the swingset.
Damien: I'm so happy, I could kiss you! Phina : Um…Neat. later Phina , lying face down on their bed: I said "Neat," Leander. Who the fuck says neat these days? It's not neat to say neat but I said it anyways because I'm fucking stupid. Leander, reading a book: Don't beat yourself up too much, Phina . Everyone gets nervous sometimes. Remember what I did when Seraph kissed me at the lake? Phina : Didn't you thank her? Leander: closes the book and looks at the ceiling I fucking thanked her.
Seraph: Does anyone know how to relax? Asking for a friend.
Seraph: Cassie, where’s your report card? Cassie: My friends stole it from me at school, so now I don’t have it anymore. Seraph: Do you think I’m stupid enough to believe that lie? Cassie: What lie? Seraph: That you have friends.
Seraph: I think we can all agree I’m the ten amongst these threes.
Seraph: I am literally evil incarnate. Seraph: I’m not actually, I just enjoy being evil. Seraph: Which I think actually makes it even more evil because I’m making a conscious effort.
Phina: Seraph has no idea I’m high. Seraph: You’re high? Phina: Oh, I’m sorry. Phina, leaning over to Cassie: Seraph has no idea I’m high.
Seraph: When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what the hell am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Seraph lemons! Do you know who I am? I'm the person who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!
Leander: Someone take me to art museums and make out with me. Damien: But they said not to touch the masterpieces. Leander: Well somebody's got to pin the artwork to the wall. Seraph, on a walkie talkie: This is Seraph, those idiots are fucking around in the East wing again.
Damien, putting his hands over Phina's eyes: Guess who! Phina: It's either Damien or the cold, clammy hands of death. Damien, putting hishands away: It's Damien! Phina: Dammit.
Leander: I’m gonna die alone. Cassie: Leander, you’re not gonna die alone. Leander: Seraph, was my safety net, okay? She and Sirius got together and now I have to get a snake. Damien: Uh-huh. Why is that? Leander: If I’m gonna be an old lonely person, I’m gonna need a thing, you know? A hook. Like that guy in the subway who eats his own face. Leander: So I figured I’ll be “Crazy Man With A Snake”, you know? Crazy snake man. Leander: Then I’ll get more snakes, call them my babies. Kids won’t walk past my place, they will run! RUN AWAY FROM CRAZY SNAKE MAN!
Damien, in a horrible German accent: Bill Nye is on break, I'm Bill Nein. Seraph: Can I go to the bathroom? Damien, in the same horrible German accent: Nein!
Damien: Am I right, Leander? Leander: I’m almost certain you’re not, but to be fair, I wasn’t listening.
Phina: Hey, Seraph, are you free on Friday? Like around eight? Seraph: Yeah. Phina: And you, Leander? Leander: Umm… yes? Phina: Great! Because I'm not. You two go out without me. Enjoy your date! Leander: Did she just-
Tumblr media
Bonus:
Lydia, pointing at seraph: I hate her. Maya: I don't like her either but why do you hate her? Lydia: She is in every single chapter. Even the short ones! I just have one long conversation with the protagonist. Just one in which I tell her secrets we share! Maya: You have what. Lydia: You don't? Leander: At least you have conversations with the protagonist! I only have one in which I destroy her self-esteem and get in a fight with Sirius! Damien: Please don't complain about that. Luke: At least you had more than two sentences. Phina: I had literally no conversation with the protagonist. I only made fun of them. I only interact with Seraph and Cassie. Leander: At least I have many interactions with Seraph. Phina: Fuck you. Cassie: Wait you guys said something?Phina: Shut up. Cassie: Sorry. Seraph: What are you talking about? Lydia: Nothing. Seraph: Are the side characters fighting? Maya: Please, piss off. Seraph, laughing: I'm so relieved I'm not a side character. Luis: Well I was in two stories just saying. Seraph: Fuck you. Laughing in the distance. Sirius: Amateurs.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the first game of this Quidditch season! And for the start, we have the most heated game of all! The golden heroes against the silver antihero! The big lion against the sly snake! Ladies and gentlemen, we are watching Gryffindor against Slytherin!" Loud cheering.
"The Gryffindor who played the moderator this time really had no taste. I mean 'sly snake'? 'Silver antihero'? Between the lines, he's saying we're the bad guys! What a jerk…" whispered Cassie. I tried to listen to her, but I couldn't.
I could only focus on what I was seeing right now. A little Black, glaring at his brother's 'girlfriend.' She stared back at him in disbelief.
How could I have overlooked all of this?
Ohhh, Sirius. You little jerk. You despicable, vile, loudmouthed, disgusting, scheming-
"Now that everyone is on the field, we should start soon! Our dear players must move on their brooms and rise into the air. Are you ready?"
Regulus Black knows his brother well. Even when I was with Sirius, he knew when our relationship was just a pastime. He was never mad at me. At least not that I knew of.
"One!"
He knows much more about me and my friends than I want. Sometimes he scares me.
"Two!"
Sirius and he have quite a few conflicts. They almost never agree. And even when I was with Sirius, they argued about it. But not about whiskey.
"Three!"
Why not? Because Regulus didn't know Sirius liked whiskey. Why didn't he know?
"Go!"
Because it's not real. Holy crap, Sirius.
"There, our heroes rise into the air and battle for the balls! Gryffindor's Seeker James Potter searches the field from high above for the Snitch! Will he find it? Probably not, as the game has just begun!"
~~~
"Come on, it's not that bad! I'll take a glass, and you take the bottle, okay?"
She looked at me with wide eyes. It was just whiskey, after all. Why was she making such a big deal out of it? I smiled at her, hoping she would finally drown herself in the drink.
Carefully, she took the bottle and looked at me uncertainly. "Seraph, are you sure nothing will happen?"
I shook my head, laughing. "What could possibly go wrong, you silly? Maybe you'll feel a bit off for a moment, but so what? You'll have done it, and the experience counts, right!"
She stared at the bottle for a long time. Eventually, Damien whistled loudly. "Come on, or I'll take the bottle!"
He was a repulsive guy, way too loud, with too little empathy in his small brain. Leander, sitting next to him, looked at him frustrated and shook his head.
His hair shimmered in the light, and his eyes had that deep brown color I wanted to disappear into. His lips looked so gentle…
An uneasy feeling spread within me, and I took my glass and downed it in one gulp.
"Seraph!" the girl in the yellow uniform looked at me in shock. "Are you okay?"
My head seemed to spin. The face of this ugly girl spun right before my eyes as if it would never go away. I wanted to hit her. Push her away. I wanted to take the bottle and beat her to death with it-
"Of course!" I snapped at her. "And now, hurry up! If you don't have the guts anymore, it's okay, but say it so we don't have to drag this out unnecessarily!"
She flinched and stared back at the bottle.Her lips trembled and something shimmered in her eyes. I felt something like triumph when I saw her fingers turn white from the firm grip on the bottle. "I told you." Phina said after a while. "She's just too scared-"
With one gulp, she opened the bottle and drank. She paused occasionally and then continued. Until. The. Bottle. Was. Empty.
"Damn, she did it!" Damien laughed loudly, probably at my friend's stupidity. He couldn't stop laughing.
"Stop laughing, you jerk," grumbled Leander, looking almost concerned at her. The look in his eyes disgusted me and I wanted to push her out of there. Had he looked at me like that once? No, there was no need to worry about me. Somehow it still made me angry. I don't know why, but I wanted to hit him. I wanted to pull her out of here and never bring her near my friends again.
My little friend swayed and desperately grabbed onto me for support. "Oh my God, she's gone! I can't take it anymore!" Damien laughed even louder. His laughter rang shrill in my head, like a warning. Get out of here.
"Seraff, where are you? What elshe do I hashe to do?" she mumbled the words incompletely and swayed in my arms. Why was I even holding her?
"Let go of me," I snapped at her and pulled away. Her dirty hands seemed much worse than usual. Her eyes were glazed, and it dawned on me that she probably wouldn't remember this tomorrow. "Go to your house. Now."
Confused, she looked at me, as if nothing in her head was functioning. Slowly swaying, she moved toward the exit. I didn't watch her as she left the room.
"Come back tomorrow, 'Whisky'!" Damien shouted after her. "Dude, shut up!" Leander gave him a little slap on the head, but Damien just laughed.
"Why? The name 'Whisky' fits, right?" I wanted to kill him with my gaze. My head throbbed. I didn't know what was happening to me, but something in me sought satisfaction. Phina looked at me approvingly and nodded. Her smile revealed how much she was enjoying the situation. She looked at me with half-open eyes and that stupid smile, I could puke.
"Or don't you think so, Leander?" I challenged him. Agree with me. Now. Come on. Stop hesitating. You're always on my side, what's wrong? Agree with me. Please—
"Well, yes… But—" he looked away and fell silent. Something in me tightened at this 'but.'
"What 'but'?" I asked with a sugary voice. Come on. Say it already. What do you hate so much about me right now? What? Say it. Say it to my face. I want to hear why you're looking at me like that.
"Cassie also collapsed because of the alcohol. What if your friend collapses on the way to her house now?" he scratched his neck and didn't look at me.
Damien groaned loudly. "Oh, who cares. Then she'll miss the test tomorrow, no big deal."
Leander ignored my glances. He stared into the fire. I wanted to push him into it. He should finally say what I did wrong! What did I do?
"Phina, let's go to sleep." I stood up and finally turned away from this guy who frustrated me so much. "We have an important test tomorrow."
She looked at me bored. Then she looked back at Damien, and I saw out of the corner of my eye how they seemed to silently discuss me.
"Come on!" I said now with a firmer voice and went to the girls' dormitories.
"I'm coming already…" said a very annoyed Phina. I wanted to strangle her.
Phina followed me, and we closed the door to the girls' dormitories behind us. But I stayed for a second before closing the door.
"You guys are such assholes." Black. "Be quiet, kid. It's none of your business." Damien. "You should be expelled from school." Regulus Coward Black. "Where are you going?" Leander. "Somebody has to take her to the Hufflepuff house." Two doors slammed in response.
~~
Late it was that evening when I left the Slytherin common room to search for the intoxicated girl. I didn't know her personally, but I somehow felt connected to her. She had been in our Slytherin common room on several occasions.
I saw it all. Seraph, who always dragged her along, or rather, the one who always followed her. Damien, who mocked her. Leander, who felt pity for her but was too captivated by Seraph to do anything. And Phina, who didn't care about anything as long as there was some drama.
It was disgusting to watch them.
I walked through the corridors of the grand castle, wondering how far she had gotten. But certainly not far, because it was dark, and she had a massive amount of alcohol in her system.
Holding my wand high with the Lumos spell, I hoped not to be discovered by teachers as I heard labored breathing. I scanned my surroundings, but there was no one. No corners, no closets to hide in. Yet, I heard that breathing. What the hell?
Soft steps echoed through the corridor as I turned around, trying to find the origin. Was I going mad here?
I turned around and saw a silhouette at the corner of the corridor and was about to run towards it when—
"Regulus, what are you doing here?"
Sirius.
Startled, I turned to my brother, who looked at me inquiringly.
"How did you—? You—Just a moment ago, there was no one there!" I looked at him suspiciously as he gave me a feigned look of confusion.
"What are you talking about, Regulus? I just came from the Gryffindor tower," he said, grinning crookedly. "What are you doing out so late on a full moon?"
"I could ask you the same thing." His gaze hardened a bit. "Besides, it's none of your business."
I turned back to the silhouette, but it had disappeared. Sighing, I continued, disappointed that my slightly older brother was following me.
"Well, I think I have a right to know what my little brother is up to at this late hour," he murmured as he walked behind me. "My little brother wandering around in the middle of the night… What if something happens to you—"
"Shut up, Sirius," I snapped at him, hoping he would lose interest. I looked around, but 'Whisky' was nowhere to be seen.
"Or…" Sirius grinned now. "You're looking for something." He looked at me triumphantly. "I can help—"
"I said, 'shut up, Sirius!'" I listened carefully to the steps, and it seemed like I could faintly hear them.
"What's actually going on with you? Lately, you hardly talk to me! I'm really worried about you, Regulus. Has something happened?" his voice behind me became somewhat harsh. "Did your parents say something?"
"No, they didn't." Lie. "I just find you insufferable lately." Truth. Recently, he basks in his popularity, constantly putting himself in the spotlight and enjoying the attention, with many girls chasing him like little dogs.
I hated how he acted with his 'friends.' Their 'jokes' were just disgusting. I couldn't understand the senseless joy in it. But how could I.
"Hey, what do you mean-"
"Shush!" I signaled for him to shut up. It was very quiet, but you could hear it. A muffled sob.
"Do you hear that too? That-" I couldn't hold back anymore; I punched Sirius lightly to make him understand he should be quiet. "Hey-!"
Very quietly, I took step after step towards the crying. I was almost at the corner of the corridor when-
"What are you doing here anyway?" A. Much. Too. Loud. Sirius.
The crying immediately fell silent. Now it was dead silent. I flipped my brother the middle finger before turning the corner. An empty corridor awaited me. But unlike just now, there was a small cupboard here. A suffocating little cupboard.
Sirius followed me, but before he could say anything, I knocked on the cupboard. "What are you doing there?" he asked, but I ignored him.
"Hello?" I inquired.
Silence.
I knocked again, but this time slower. "Everything okay in there?"
Silence.
"Do you think someone's in there?" Sirius stood behind me with crossed arms, as if I were the dumbest person in the world. He probably never had to hide in school before.
"Sirius, for the last time, please shut up!" I couldn't hear him anymore. "No one asked you to follow me!"
Sirius just shrugged. "As a big brother, it's my duty to annoy you. Besides, I have to be there when you get yourself into trouble."
"That's funny coming from you. As if you've ever fulfilled your duties as a big brother." He was really getting on my nerves.
"Hey, I've made a real effort in the last 2 years to annoy you properly! Nothing that makes you uncomfortable or anything…" He briefly looked out at the shining moon. "But I also had to take care of other things. But I'm trying!"
"Oh yes, you're really busy not doing your homework and annoying other students with your jokes that sometimes go too far!" He infuriated me. How he stood there as if he understood something. As if someone like him understood how I feel and why I don't want anything to do with him.
He is the one who is leaving me alone.
"Okay, Regulus, I have the feeling that you, how should I put it, are angry. Mainly, that's probably due to the absence of your humor, but that can be fixed, don't worry." He came closer. "Next time, you can join us in Hogsmeade. If you want, we can also come up with a prank together!"
"I don't want to participate in one of your bad jokes, really! I'd rather have detention with Professor Binns, and that says something." His smile disappeared. He looked at me almost desperate. For the first time tonight, he said nothing. And that's why I heard it.
"Pffff-"
Laughter.
Sirius pushed me aside, went to the small cupboard, and pulled out his wand. With a slightly tense voice, he said, "Alohomora!" and with a very exaggerated aggressive jerk, he opened the cupboard.
A laughing girl, seemingly out of her mind, looked out at us. Sirius still pointed his wand at her when she -
"AHHHHH!!!" she screamed and blinked against the presumably very bright light. "DON'T EAT ME!"
"Did you hear all that-; Wait, what?" Sirius lowered his wand in confusion and looked at the girl bewildered.
She looked at him as if he were the devil; he had apparently scared her. But his confused look was priceless. I had to chuckle slightly, I admit it. Sirius glared at me and now completely put away his wand.
"Who are you, what are you doing here, and why are you hiding from us, and why in a cupboard???" With each question, he got closer to her, and eventually, his head was half in the cupboard. "Let her breathe; she really doesn't need your breath in her nose." I grinned at him this time and took full advantage of his confusion.
The girl laughed again. Sirius backed off from her and looked at her almost scared. "I don't have bad breath! Or do I?" She laughed even more but shook her head. He grinned at her oddly. "Come on, that wasn't so funny?"
Somehow, I wanted to puke at the sight of the two. "Just let her out already." He looked at me with a raised eyebrow. But then he grinned at the girl in the cupboard again. "I'm sorry. Here, let me help you out." He held out his hand to her. She looked as if she were thinking about it, like only a drunk person could.
"No, thanksh. I can manashe on my own getting out of here; after all, I manashed to get in. Besidez, I don't trusht you yet! It could be that you actually want to zell me to Professor Shlughorn so he can make a potion out of me!" She slipped out of the cupboard and sat swaying on the floor.
Sirius looked dumbfounded at her. He looked between me and her. Eventually, he looked at me utterly bewildered, and I had to laugh. She seemed not to understand him and shook her head. "You think I'm weird, don't you? No, you're jusht not direct enough; what do you want from me?"
"Me? I haven't done anything! What's your problem, anyway?" Sirius still looked at her confused, but he also started to look really worn out. "Seraph said that every good-looking guy who comes to me just wants to take advantage of me! So, what do you want?" The girl glared at him, and now she also looked at me. Slowly she began to speak normally. "And how did you know where I was hiding-"
"Wait, wait, who is Seraph? And more importantly, you find me good-looking?" Sirius tilted his head and grinned at her. I felt increasingly nauseated. "You can go now." I raised my voice again, eager to take her back to her house.
"No, you're right! Where did you know she was?" He looked at me confused. I sighed loudly. "We heard her footsteps, and the cupboard was the only option where she could hide."
"I mean, why did you go out in the middle of the night and look for her?" He looked at me skeptically.
"How did you come out of nowhere? You can't fool me; you suddenly appeared out of nowhere behind me! How?" Now I looked at him with narrowed eyes.
"You just imagined that."
"Then you imagined that I knew where she was. I was just taking a walk and happened to find her."
The girl looked between us and chuckled again.
"What?" we asked simultaneously.
"Sorry." she fell silent and looked at the ground. She stood up, swaying, and tried to walk away but didn't get very far due to the swaying.
"Hey, hey, hey, we must take you back to your house; where do you want to go so late?" Sirius stood up and went to her. I sighed but nodded. "For once he's right; you shouldn't go alone."
But then she took Sirius' hand and pulled him behind her. "Hey, don't you think it's a bit too early for hand-holding?" Sirius asked with that disgusting tone. Confused, she stared at him; alcohol must have taken her mind for flirting. "Where do you want to go? The Hufflepuff common room is in the other direction." I said and pointed her in the right direction.
Uncomprehendingly, she stared at me. "But we have to go to the hospital wing first." She just pointed in the other direction. "And it's over there."
Sirius laughed softly. "Maybe you really belong in the hospital wing, but I don't think you want to be caught there because of alcohol consumption, believe me."
"Not because of me. You're injured." She said to him, looking at him questioningly.
"What are you talking about?" I asked since I didn't notice any injury on Sirius. "His arm. He has a wound there. That's why his uniform is so messy." She shrugged and tapped on Sirius' right arm. He flinched in response to this touch.
Sirius looked at me, attempting to appear confused. "I think we should take her away quickly before she collapses from the alcohol."
"You're much more likely to collapse." She said, smiling at him. "Come on, you don't have to act so tough. Just let yourself be taken to the hospital wing." Again, she walked off, pulling Sirius along with her.
"Is that true? Where did you get that wound?"
"You're not really interested anyway. Anything related to me doesn't really matter for you." Sirius muttered. "You're just on our parents' side anyway."
I glared at him. "Now you're just talking nonsense to wallow in self-pity again."
"Hey, no more arguing! He's injured; that's more important now!" 'Whisky' looked at both of us angrily. Sirius looked at her almost guilty. "Sorry," he said, but she just shook her head. "Apologize to him, not me. He was just worried."
Sirius turned to me. "I'm sorry, Regulus." She nodded at him and now looked at me expectantly. I sighed loudly but finally gave in. "Sorry, Sirius."
Acknowledging, she nodded at both of us. "Good, now let's-" But then she blushed. She looked at Sirius for a long moment and then at her hand that was holding Sirius' hand. Startled, she let go of his hand and looked at him in confusion. "Are you Sirius Black?"
"Would that be a problem for you?" he asked, looking at me questioningly. I just shrugged.
"No, of course not," she whispered softly, putting some distance between Sirius and her. "You can tell the truth; no one would blame you. I would understand it very well!" I said, grinning at Sirius, who just looked annoyed at me.
"Who are you, anyway? Do I know you?" he asked, looking at her hesitantly. But she just shook her head. "No, don't worry, of course not. I'm nothing without Seraph, so it doesn't matter anyway-"
"Who the hell is Seraph? You mentioned her twice, and again, she doesn't seem very likable to me," Sirius said. I laughed at that. "A bitch. She's a bitch. But an interesting one."
Sirius looked at me confused. "Aha." He turned back to her. "Why are you drunk wandering around the castle in the middle of the night?"
"Seraph," I just said, and that explained everything. Sirius apparently didn't understand this simple explanation. He now looked accusingly at me. "So, you did know why she's here and went looking for her!"
"It's not that important now; you need to go to the hospital wing!" a very confused Hufflepuff said. "You're injured!"
"And you need to go to your bed!" Sirius looked at her just as accusingly. "You've apparently drunk yourself to passing out! Probably because you haven't gotten over your friend or something, right? Well, let me give you a tip, drinking doesn't help at all!"
She looked at him somewhat frightened. "That's not how it was… I just did it for Seraph, that-"
"Seraph really seems to be a bitch," Sirius said. I nodded. "Yeah, she's perfect for you," I added.
"Hey!"
"He's right."
Both of us looked at her confused. She looked down. Sirius laughed nervously. "Hey, I didn't mean to be mean or anything-"
She looked at him in shock. "No, no, that's not what I mean! I just mean… she's so nice and beautiful and funny and -" she took a deep breath. And then breathed out again. "She's amazing. And she really just wants to help me."
Sirius looked at me confused. This time I looked just as confused back. "What the hell do you mean-"
"You know what? We should really take you to the hospital wing now!" she quickly changed the subject and went back swaying towards the hospital wing. I followed her, gesturing for Sirius to follow. She probably wouldn't go back to her house until Sirius was treated.
"Hey, what's your name?" Sirius looked at her curiously. She looked at him confused. "(Y/n)"
We stood in front of the hospital wing. When Sirius turned to her again. "Well, (Y/n), firstly, your laughter is really cute, and secondly, I already like you more than Seraph." With that, he disappeared behind the door.
A very confused (Y/n) stood next to me. But upon closer inspection, she seemed to be blushing. Wait, what?!
"Uh… I should probably go to my dorm, right?" she looked at me hesitantly. I just couldn't imagine someone like her… No, that was just wrong.
"Yeah, let's go. I'll take you." I finally said. Awkwardly, we walked down the corridor while my mind was racing.
"What year are you, by the way?" she asked eventually, smiling at me crookedly. Her way too innocent face was killing me.
"Third. Are you in love with my brother?"
Silence.
"How, what, why do you think that???" She looked at me with a red face.
I looked at her for a long time, but I had to sigh. "I don't care about that, but I just want to warn you. My brother is not really known for serious and lasting relationships."
She looked at me for a long time. Then she smiled one of those sad smiles and looked ahead. "I know. It's not like I think I could ever be in a relationship with him."
We walked in silence for a while. Outside, the full moon was slowly going down while the sun seemed to be rising. "That's not what I meant. I just want to tell you that you have to love yourself first. And you have to finally let go of Seraph. By now, you must see that yourself."
We stood in front of the Hufflepuff entrance as she looked at me hurt. "You can go now."
I looked at her for a long time. "Otherwise, you'll always remain 'Whisky'."
I saw her tears and left.
~~~
In the end, I don't know what happened that night. Whisky couldn't remember herself, probably because of the alcohol. I only found her exhausted outside the Hufflepuff house the next day. She didn't come in, must have forgotten the password. We had a test that day.
Everything seemed normal with her, but she was a bit wobbly on her feet. At some point Sirius Black came to her and asked if she was feeling better. At that moment, I was confused as to why he was even talking to someone like her.
"She's fine!"
And then she pukes on her test. Since then, teachers have been looking more at students who look like they have been drinking.
And now this boy, who looked after her that evening, had this mad look in his eyes as he went up into the sky.

I literally flew through the corridors. My heart was racing, my legs felt light, and for the first time, my head didn't seem to throb. The sun shone brightly and seemed to smile at me. I smiled back and enjoyed the beautiful weather.
Suddenly, I bumped into someone.
I looked ahead and saw a boy from Slytherin, who looked at me with big, inquisitive eyes. Where did I know those eyes from?
"Sorry, did I hurt you?"
He still looked at me with that gaze. Eventually, he shook his head. "As if someone like you could hurt me."
What?
He already pushed me aside and was about to leave after saying that, but I didn't let him go so easily.
"What do you mean?"
He looked away and shook his head again. "Forget it, Whisky."
"What… How do you know-"
"Everyone knows you by now, and you should know why." I felt small under those eyes. How they followed me. How they assessed me. How familiar they seemed.
"How do you know 'Whisky'?"
His eyes widened at that. He looked at me for a long time, as if he were just coming up with his answer.
"I'm (y/n)."
Then he looked away. I tried to catch his gaze, but I couldn't. Finally, he turned around.
"I only know Whisky, who always chases after everyone and now pretends to be with Sirius Black. Not (y/n)."
Then he walked away.
"Hey, wait! You can't just-"
"I have to go to the Quidditch field. Leave me alone."
And before I could say anything else, he was gone. My confusion slowly turned into panic as I realized what that fifth-year just said.
Pretends.
Who the hell was this boy with blavk hair and those familiar eyes? And how did he know?
~~~
"Why did you talk to Leander? And about what?" Cassie looked at me appraisingly. It seemed she and Phina didn't catch everything Leander had said in the common room. Lucky.
"I just warned him not to pick a fight with Sirius. We all know how that ends. He'll end up in the hospital wing again," I said, gathering my things and placing them on our dresser.
Our rooms were far from the other houses. It wasn't always pleasant to climb the entire way up. And who came up with the idea to place Slytherin in the basement? Whisky still always came down to wait for me.
"So what? Let him end up in the hospital wing; it's more fun for us! Otherwise, everything here is sooo boring… Since Whis-"
"Our team should win, not start a brawl," I interrupted Phina before she said something that would infuriate me. I understood her desire for something new all the time and the amusement of drama. But I didn't want any drama with Leander and Sirius at the moment.
"That's strange, though," Cassie began, leaning forward with a sly grin. "Since when does our untouchable Seraph care about our Quidditch team? Usually, you only went for Whisky. Or are you hoping to see her there?"
I shook my head laughing, as always. Don't reveal too much; otherwise, it loses its value. "Yes, sure, Cassie." Give nothing away, or it loses its value. "You have a vivid imagination in your sweet little head."
Hidden revenge hurts the most. And I know what it looks like. But when I look at Whisky, I don't see that hidden revenge. I see guilt feelings, as if she genuinely cares about me. Yes, as if that little snake somehow cares about me in her new perfect world!
Cassie didn't say anything more and looked away. Sometimes, she reminded me so terribly of Whisky that I wanted to hit her.
"Come on, Phina, let's go upstairs already."
And sometimes, she was so unlike Whisky that I wanted to strangle her.
"Can you wait for a damn moment for me? It's not that hard, is it?"
Both looked at me silently as I sighed and finished tying my hair into a ponytail. I stood up and examined myself in the mirror. "Not great, but it'll have to do."
Then I turned to the little mice, waiting for my next move. "Wasn't that difficult, was it?"
Phina looked like she wanted to say something, but Cassie gave her a look that made her hesitate. I didn't want to wait for their game, so I started walking. They followed me as always.
Take it away from them, and they'll want it again.
~~~
One foot in front of the other. Right. Left. Right. Left. Right. Left. Right-
"(Y/n)! There you are, we've been looking for you!" Maya and Lydia approached me. I was on my way to my room to contemplate this encounter.
"Come on, let's go to the game together; it's starting soon. And you definitely shouldn't miss it!" Lydia looked at me with a meaningful look while Maya took a moment to understand her hints.
"Yeah, you're right."
I joined them and walked towards the field with them, trying not to show anything. I kept the encounter with the boy to myself for now.
"Would it be okay if we meet up with Luis and Luke? They don't know you yet and would like to get to know you. They're nice guys, even if Luke can be a bit rough, he's still nice." Maya explained, looking at me expectantly.
I wasn't good with new people, but if they wanted to get to know me, it would be impolite to simply say no. So, I nodded with a smile, and we headed to the spectator stands.
On one side, there were mostly green robes, with a few yellow or blue ones. Slytherin was very serious when it came to the game against Gryffindor. The same could be said for those sitting on the other side.
As we approached the stands, I could already see two boys my age in Ravenclaw robes from a distance. They both had black hair and seemed to be twins, although you could distinguish them easily. One had a very serious expression and a scar on his face, while the other looked more relaxed, but something seemed to be on his mind.
Maya waved to them, and Lydia ran towards the one with a smile on her face, hugging him. He seemed surprised at first but hugged her back.
"Feeling better?" she asked him, and he smiled a sad smile. He nodded slightly but very uncertainly, and Maya scrutinized him with concern.
The somewhat grim one cleared his throat and turned to me. Instead of saying anything, he nodded his head towards me and looked at his brother pleadingly. The brother quickly caught on and let go of Lydia.
"Hey, sorry, this must be weird for you. Everything's fine, don't worry. You're (Y/n), right? I'm Luis, and this is Luke." He smiled at me, and I nodded back. "Nice to finally meet you. We've heard about you from everywhere."
I looked away shyly and didn't know what to say. I didn't have to say anything, as Luke spoke up. "We need to find a seat soon. Otherwise, Slytherin will take them all."
"And where should we sit?" I asked, looking at the others.
Luke looked at me in disbelief. "To Gryffindor? On your friend's side? Where do you want to go?"
I looked at the Slytherin side where I usually sat and was startled by his question. "I- It's just a habit, sorry."
Luis laughed softly, not mocking but friendly. "You were a Slytherin fan? How did you even end up with Sirius?" He looked at me for a long time, and my heart stopped. "But he also dated Seraph, so it seems he puts Quidditch aside in his relationships."
"Now let's go!" said Lydia, who seemed to want to get me to the spectator level as quickly as possible. Luis laughed, and Luke just grinned at me slightly as we walked in.
The field seemed huge every time I saw it. The preparation seemed to be over, and the players were in their team tents. We found seats near the front but not too close so that we could have a good view of the field.
It took a long time for all the spectators to sit down, and the murmurs subsided. I looked into the spectator rows around us and saw people I had known since childhood suddenly very close. Some even smiled at me, although we had never spoken.
Eventually, it was time. The players were called and summoned to their positions. It didn't take long until I saw Sirius, but it seemed like an eternity before our eyes met.
When he saw me, he pointed at me and smiled. As if to say, I'm winning for you. I blushed slightly and smiled back at him. Eventually, I couldn't look into those eyes anymore and looked away.
Into other familiar eyes. Wide-open eyes that looked at me in shock. Seraph was sitting across from me. I felt uncomfortable as she looked down and then back at me. But she wasn't looking at Sirius.
The Slytherin players gathered, and the last player was called to his position. The boy I had encountered. The one who glared at me from below. The one who seraph looked at in disbelief.
"And Regulus Black, as Seeker, to his position!"
Regulus.

I don't know if any of you noticed but I love writing original characters into the universe I write for <33
I love combining series and letting those characters debut. I want to create an own story with those characters and I would love it if other people liked my imagination. For me that's fanfiction.
I love complexity and character analysis. That's why I write.
Why do you read? Do you like complexity?
(even if I don't write very much right now I'm in my exam phase sryyy)

Prologue - - - Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
Tumblr media
The atmosphere in the room was calm. After everything that had already happened today, I was incredibly excited about what Sirius wanted to show me. Maybe, just maybe, he actually liked me after all.
"Whisky, how are you?"
The voice was eerily calm, almost serene. Her eyes didn't look at me the way they used to. They didn't scrutinize me anymore. She stood before me with a drink in her hand, which she probably had to get for herself for the first time.
"I'm doing well, Seraph."
She smiled. Her face was relaxed, and it was actually quite nice. But I could see that it didn't reach her eyes. That's how she looked at the teachers when she had to talk her way out of something.
"I believe you. I'm still quite amazed by you, I admit it." She chuckled softly.
"I never expected that from you."
It was almost as if I heard Sirius' voice. As if I heard him saying to me as he did earlier today: Don't listen to them.
Why couldn't I just do that?
"What do you mean?"
The smile that followed sent a cold shiver down my spine.
"Your little charade with Sirius."
.
Now, everything was over.
~~~
"Hey are you ready to be blown away?!" Sirius smile was shining brightly but I couldn't look him in the eyes. It was to much. I almost forgot... How this overwhelming guilt felt.
His hand reached out for mine but it all felt so wrong... So played.
"Sirius-"
"I promise you, you will absolutely love it! My friends helped me, even though Remus was complaining... But it was all worth it!"
I regretted every single decision I made, as I saw his smile fell as i pulled my hand away.
The silence was overwhelming and the pressure his gaze held unbearable. He took a step back and only then I realized how close he was before.
"Is... Something wrong?"
I couldn't quite place the feeling I was feeling. Guilt could try to describe it but it was much worse.
"I.. Was just thinking and I thought that maybe..."
He almost took a step to come closer but he kept his distance as he watched me stutter.
"Did I do something wrong?"
"What?! No, no you didn't do anything wrong! I was just thinking that maybe we should stop with this fake dating stuff..."
Silence.
I heard the little screams from the party. I heard the exciting bubbling of the lake. I heard the drunk singing from the common room.
And still.
It was still so damn quiet.
Why aren't you saying anything? Why are you just standing there? Why do you keep this distance to me? Why-
"What did this snake say to you?"
His voice was sharp nothing compared to his excited voice before.
"What-?"
Now he took a step towards me and for the first time of this whole act, of this week he was intimidating.
"What in the GODDAMM HELL did she say to you this time?! Did she say of how bad of a boyfriend I was? Did she talk about the times I didn't give her my full attention? Did she talk about how all of this is just an act for me to make her jealous?"
"I- what are you saying?"
He held me in my place and almost stared me down.
"Y/n, be honest with me, okay?"
I couldn't say no to those eyes. I nodded slowly almost frightened if I didn't.
"Seraph talked to you, didn't she?"
You're a horrible liar, you know?
"Why do you think that?"
He chuckled and his grip became more stiff. Why was this so scary? Why was he so scary?
"Do you think I am dumb?" Sirius eyes were cold. They reminded me of the evening my hair lost it's natural color. How he stared seraph down.
"I know the girl I dated. She wasn't just your friend, you know, I was in a RELATIONSHIP with this little devil!" He was almost forcing me to look at him.
"I know her smile when she wants something from me. I know the face she makes when she isn't satisfied with the people around her. And I know how she thinks she is in power of everyone. She likes to mess with others especially for revenge."
"But that's not-"
"And I know the girl I am dating right now."
Dating?
"Do you really think I don't know you? I know how you act when you want something but you are scared to ask. I know when you think you don't deserve to be with anyone around you. And I know how you shut everything down, when you are with seraph.
I have seen that for YEARS. "
"Sirius, you know me for like a week! You don't know..."
"I HAVE KNOWN YOU FOR YEARS, GODDAMMIT!"
I didn't know what to say so I just shut my mouth. His grip on my loosened. He laughed bitterly.
"Do you really think I never remembered you beside Seraph? We talked lots of times, hell we even had to work in a transformation project together!"
"I didn't think you would..." Remember that.
"Tell me, darling..."
He let me go and looked me in my eyes. And I saw something glittering in those eyes.
"Why do you believe her words more than my actions?"
She didn't even see the pile of roses that were hiding behind the boy with the black hair.
Character Analysis: Seraph
Tumblr media
You know what makes me the happiest person in the world???
When people Analyse my stories :DD
Or more importantly for meee... My characters. So I am going to start a little bit...
From my series: Loving lies / also on Ao3 under MyPeace.
Prologue - - - Part 3
Tumblr media
Seraph:
-Ohhhh... Where do I start?
-She is one of my gems, I am sure. Because you can't seem to hate her even though you don't know much of her.
-Toxicity all over the place. She is a walking red flag and she knows it. But sometimes she wants to prove to herself that she's the victim. In reality she is even poisoning herself with the lies.
-Lack of real emotions. She is an actor. Trying to fool herself to believe she is a good person. But why? ;)
-Wanting to be better. Especially better than 'Whisky'. She is annoyed at the emotions whisky has. She wants to be better, prettier, smarter and better liked than 'whisky'.
-Jealousy. She is a really jealous girl. She wants to be the happiest, most excited, smartest and coolest person in the room. (Why did she even date Sirius? With him in the room that's impossible..)
-But is she really just bad? I don't want to create a character that's just that. I want her to be a real character with personality. Because she is in reality just a coward.
~~~
But I don't want to spoiler anything. Let me know what you think of this concept and if you want to analyze yourself, do so! Even if this isn't going to reach many...

Shadows of Desires
Tumblr media
Summary: One evening that changed everything.
Warnings: self-pity, cheating, toxic relationship, !seraphs memories pov!
Sooo... This is just a sneak peak of what COULD come next. I was sick the last two weeks and couldn't really find myself to write that's why this is so little content sorry.wc: 0.7k
Prologue - - Part 3
Tumblr media
I sat in the dimly lit corner of the common Gryffindor room, my fingers tracing the edge of my parchment absentmindedly as I stared into the dancing flames in the fireplace. The room was alive with the chatter of Gryffindors, celebrating their latest victory on the Quidditch field. But I felt detached, distant from the euphoria that surrounded me.
Sirius, my boyfriend, was at the center of the jubilation, his charismatic smile drawing everyone's attention. He had just scored the winning goal for their team, and the adoration he received from his housemates was undeniable. But I couldn't help the bitter taste that welled up in my mouth as I watched him.
He was always the center of attention, always in the spotlight. And while everyone adored him, I felt like I was slowly fading into the shadows. Our relationship had become a mere formality, an extension of his popularity.
That evening, I was mad at him. Mad at how he seemed to forget about me once the applause and cheers began. I wanted to feel special, to feel wanted, I wanted to feel excitement and love like her for him, but all I got were fleeting moments of his attention.
Leander, on the other hand, sat a few feet away, his eyes occasionally flickering in my direction. He was different from Sirius, quieter and more reserved. There was a depth to him, an air of mystery that intrigued me. I couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to be the center of someone's universe, even if just for a moment.
As the evening wore on, I found myself glancing at Leander more frequently, our eyes locking in silent conversation. There was something magnetic about the way he looked at me, something that drew me closer to him like a moth to a flame.
I excused myself from the celebration, telling Sirius I needed some fresh air. He barely acknowledged my departure, engrossed in his own world of accolades and admiration. I didn't care; I needed a break from it all.
Outside, the crisp night air stung my cheeks as I wandered to a secluded spot by the lake. Leander found me there, his steps hesitant but purposeful. He didn't say a word, just sat down beside me, his presence comforting in its silence.
"You left him and he didn't follow."
We sat there, side by side, staring out at the tranquil waters. The moon cast a soft glow on his face, accentuating the contours of his features. And in that moment, I realized that I craved the attention he gave me, the way he made me feel seen.
"And you did?" I wanted to tease him but he ignored my tone.
"I would always follow you." his eyes stared in mine and in this exact moment I let my guard down.
Our lips met in a hesitant kiss, a spark of desire igniting within me. It was wrong, I knew that, but it felt so right in that moment. Leander's fingers brushed against my cheek, his touch electrifying as our kisses deepened.
I didn't feel guilty. I felt alive, desired, something I hadn't felt in a long time. Leander hesitated at first, his conscience wrestling with his desire, but eventually, he gave in to the undeniable chemistry between us.
But as the evening wore on and our stolen moments continued, I couldn't help but wonder if I was making a mistake. I was still mad at Sirius, but I knew that two wrongs didn't make a right.
Then, as we shared one last lingering kiss, I saw him. Sirius stood in the shadows, his eyes fixed on us, a mixture of hurt and anger in his gaze. I couldn't read his mind, but I knew he had seen everything.
Leander pulled away, a hint of regret in his eyes, and I felt a pang of guilt. But when I looked at Sirius, I couldn't bring myself to feel remorse. Instead, I felt a strange sense of satisfaction, like I had shown him that I wasn't self-explanatory.
Sirius turned and walked away, disappearing into the darkness. I knew that our relationship was forever changed, but in that moment, I didn't care. For the first time in a long time, I had felt something real, something that made me feel alive.
The little girl in me cheered, but didn't realize that I lost him.

Prologue Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
Tumblr media
As we entered the Great Hall for lunch, I could feel the tension still lingering in the air. Sirius was walking beside me, his steps purposeful but his expression stern. The incident with Leander had left him seething, and it was evident in the way he clenched his jaw and the occasional glares he shot in the direction of the Slytherin table.
I glanced at him from the corner of my eye, unsure of how to address the situation. It was clear that he was trying to maintain composure, but the anger was simmering just beneath the surface. I knew he wasn't upset with me, but I couldn't shake off the uneasiness.
As we settled at the Gryffindor table, I tried to focus on my plate of food, but the tension was palpable. Sirius seemed lost in his thoughts, and I felt like an intruder in his world of frustration. The conversations around us were a mere buzz, distant and unimportant compared to the storm within.
Then, a soft nudge against my shoulder brought my attention back to reality. I turned to see Sirius looking at me, his expression slightly softened. He offered me a small, reassuring smile. "Sorry about earlier. I didn't mean for things to get that heated."
I managed a weak smile in return. "It's alright, Sirius. I understand why you were upset."
He nodded, his gaze lingering on me for a moment before he turned his attention back to his food. Despite his attempt to make amends, I could sense the turmoil still swirling within him. It was as if he was battling his emotions, struggling to find a balance between his protective instincts and his desire not to cause further stress.
As I ate my meal, I couldn't help but steal glances at him. He was so beautiful. How could anyone be so beautiful?
He was putting on a facade of nonchalance, but his clenched fists and furrowed brows betrayed his true feelings. I wished there was something I could do to ease his anger, to let him know that I appreciated his concern.
Meanwhile, a little bit right from us, I noticed Lydia and Maya engrossed in a hushed conversation. Lydia's animated gestures and Maya's attentive nods suggested that they were deep in thought about something. I wondered what they were discussing, but my focus was quickly pulled back to Sirius when he spoke again.
"Are you nervous about the game?" he asked, his tone softer now.
I shook my head, grateful for the change of topic. "Not really. I mean, you are the one playing, so I don't really feel the pressure here. But, I'm excited to watch you play."
He smirked playfully. "Planning to cheer for me?"
I rolled my eyes, trying to lighten the mood. "Maybe I'll just shout 'Sirius Black, you're not as cool as you think!'"
He chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Oh, you wound me."
We shared a genuine laugh, and for a moment, the tension seemed to lift. It was as if we had managed to carve out a small bubble of normalcy in the midst of the chaos. As lunch continued, our conversation flowed more easily, and I found myself forgetting the unease that had gripped me earlier.
Unbeknownst to us, Lydia and Maya were observing our interaction from afar, their heads close together as they exchanged whispered thoughts. Maya nodded at something Lydia said, and they seemed to be sharing some sort of silent agreement.
Later, as we made our way out of the Great Hall, I caught a glimpse of Lydia's mischievous smile. She winked at me, and I couldn't help but wonder what they were plotting.
As we went on, I couldn't help but look after them. I wondered if they would talk about their feelings, or if they would just ignore what was so obviously there.
"Oh, shit!" Sirius looked at me with an apologetic frown. "I already have to go, because James wants to go over the planning we did. Hope you can forgive me."
I smiled at him. He looked so apologetic like a little puppy that disappointed someone. "Don't worry, I understand. Go you have a game to win!"
He smiled at me and ran up to the field, while I watched him go. Without him, the halls felt empty and at the same time overwhelming full.
I already wanted to leave to the library, because we still had time till the game, when I saw Sirius ran up to me.
He was panting heavily and red like a tomato as he stood before me, like he just played the quidditch game of his life.
"What's wrong? Did you forget something?" I felt like I was missing something here, as he took my hands and smiled at me with a red face.
"Yeah, I forgot something very important." He hold my hands tightly and looked me in the eyes. Something plagued his mind and I so desperately wanted to know what. But it remained a secret behind those beautiful eyes.
"What did you-"
"Wish me luck." he suddenly said. His eyes were avoiding mine and suddenly found the ground very interesting. "Please?"
"You don't need luck," I replied softly, my voice filled with faith in him.
He chuckled, his fingers briefly intertwining with mine. "Maybe, but a little extra never hurts."
I chuckled at that. His eyes found mine and sucked me into them again. His right hand let go of mine and wandered off to my cheek. As he hold me captive in his warm touch, he seemed to beg for something.
"Good l-"
Then, in that moment, when I least expected it, he closed the gap between us, his lips capturing mine in a kiss. It was an innocent little peck, like he didn't want to do anything wrong. Time seemed to stand still as our lips molded together, and the world faded away. All that mattered was the sensation of his mouth moving against mine, the taste of his lips, and the rapid beat of my heart, which seemed to run a marathon.
He stroked my cheek while softly breaking the kiss. I missed the contact, but was at the same time overwhelmed by the thing that just happened.
He gazed into my eyes, a fire burning within them. "For luck," he whispered, his voice husky.
My cheeks flushed, and I nodded, my voice equally breathless. "For luck."
We stood like that, with intertwined fingers and gazing at each others eyes, for a minute or two, as he cleared his throat.
"I should go."
"Yeah, you should."
But neither of us wanted to let go of each other, our fingers still intertwined. But after one more minute he let go and smiled at me, with this unreadable expression that so often visited his face.
"I will see you after the game right?" he asked and smiled brightly, as I nodded.
"Then see you later, darling."
I looked after him and couldn't control the smile that was slowly creeping on my red face.
You don't need luck, you idiot. I know that you will win. I saw it with my own eyes.

~1974 Third year. ~
The little girls eyes were shining as she watched. 'Was this fake?' she wondered as her eyes followed his broom. His flying hair in the wind, his bright smile as he beat the ball at one of his opponents and lastly his promising eyes. All of it was beautiful.
The seeker in red should have been the main attraction for the audience, but his best friend was like a shooting star for her. Bright, fast and so out of reach. Hoping he would grant her a wish, she looked at him with a wish written in her eyes.
As she wished for once to be noticed, the girl in green next to her followed her gaze. The girl was angry that her house was losing and she was even more pissed that she was here with her.
This naive girl in yellow, which didn't belong here between the people in green. This clingy parasite with this annoying expression. That begging look not to be abandoned, that made the girl in green reconsider.
Why did she even bring her?
Why was she even friends with her?
The girl in the warm colors of the sun, looked at the star of the field, again with this annoying expression. And the girl in green next to her was jealous as she realized how beautiful the emotions behind this gaze were. 'How can you feel this kind of emotions?'
As their eyes were focused on the star, his best friend's eyes caught the golden ball and his broom was racing towards it. The other seeker slowly realized why the boy was suddenly flying so fast and tried to follow just as fast. But he realized that it was no use. The feeling that he already lost was creeping in and he became even slower.
Then a ball hit him from above and threw him off his broom. The beater Sirius black took the chance to cover his mate. He dodged the ball himself and hit it right towards the green seeker.
"And James Potter caught the snitch!!!"
The Gryffindor audience burst into cheers, while the slytherins were glaring at them. The other beater in green was looking at the boy with the name black and wanted so bad to be better. "Next time you hit him leander." his teammates said, but they knew just like him that that was very unlikely.
The green side of the field was full of anger towards those red prideful bunch of kids, that were so obviously the favorites of hogwarts.
Only two girls seemed to be out of place.
They didn't cheer and they didn't get mad. They were both watching the boy in red and wished.
Yellow to be visible. Green to be yellow.
~~
I smiled, as I thought about the memories. The first game he played and the first I watched. I know that he doesn't need a Goodluck kiss.
I kissed you out of pure desire for you.
~~~
Meanwhile in the slytherin common room
"You are such an idiot, Leander, seriously. You don't stand a chance against Sirius, why did you search a fight with him?"
I shook my head at his silliness. How can someone be so impulsive?
"I just had a little 'talk' with your whisky. How could I have guessed that he would be so angry?" the brown haired boy looked away from me and seemed to pout.
A cold feeling went down my spine. I tried to shake it off, but it came right back. What was wrong with me? Why was I so cold?
"Hey, is something wrong, seraph?" Leander looked at me with worry in his eyes and came closer to me. "You looked like something plagued your mind?"
He seemed to want to stroke my cheek with his hand, but I dodged him. "It's nothing of your concern." I stated, and his hand dropped like a stone. He seemed embarrassed and looked at the ground.
"Sorry."
'Your whisky' he said. Like I owned her. Maybe I did, but not anymore. She is off and has new friends now. Every time I see them, I feel like I missed something in my life. Like I got all of this wrong. Like I got her completely wrong. Like I regretted what I did. What I still do.
Those feelings that she has. This joy that she feels, when she is with her friends. This excitement when she sees Sirius. I never felt any of that.
Why was I so bored of those people around me? Why couldn't I be excited for the things that I had? Why does she have this explosive feelings for Sirius, while I can't make myself feel even excitement?
"I wish I could say i'm surprised, but I'm really not. And that's the thing I most regret, seraph. We were never really meant to be." his eyes bore through mine. Ice-cold. "I think you know that as well."
"Do you miss her?" Leanders soft voice snapped me back to reality. His eyes were gentle, with this strange smile. It wasn't threatening, but I could never really interpret it and it made me crazy.
"Who, whisky?" I tried to laugh the cold feeling away. "Oh, please, why would I miss this parasite? I abandoned her in the first place, sweet Leander." I smiled my usual smile. The i don't care smile that made me feel better of myself. I need to feel better about myself.
He looked at me with that strange smile again. Like he knew me better than I know myself. But he really doesn't.
"You know what I think?"
I narrowed my eyes. "I don't really care."
But he didn't stop, like he didn't hear me. "I think you're starting to realize that you really care about her and you've lost her. I'm not saying she doesn't deserve it, she's a snake, but I think you're not so sure anymore and you miss her."
"You don't know anything!" But he did not let himself be stopped.
"You're not as untouchable as you think, 'sweet' seraph. In fact, you're still a little girl who whines when she doesn't get what she wants."
"Shut up!" I was screaming.
"That's why you ran after Sirius like a lost puppy. You just can't stand that he doesn't like you anymore."
"You have no idea, Leander! You have no idea how I feel!" Or what I don't feel. "So don't act like you really understand me."
He was quiet on that. But then he looked at me in such an intense way that Sirius never did. And my heart skipped a beat. Why? "Why did you make out with me if you love him so much? Why did you cheat with me if you miss him so much now?"
His gaze held me and there was a fire in them. The evening in which I let myself drown in self-pity came back, even though I tried so hard to forget it. Eventually, though, I managed to turn away. "You need to get to the quidditch field. It's getting late."
There was tension in the air at that, until he finally stood up. He grabbed his things he needed and went to the door, of the slytherin common room. Before he opened it, he looked at me.
"A little whining girl in green."
And then he left.
Prologue Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
Tumblr media
I rushed down the halls trying to ignore the stares, but failing miserably. I was getting overwhelmed by the attention. How did I shut it all down? How did I ignore seraphs deathstare?
Her words were clouding my mind. I felt guilty towards Sirius because I left him alone in the library, but I was just so scared. I was scared that this fake relationship will fuck me up. That it's all just a game. Because for me it's so much more.
"He's just passing the time with you."
Every minute I spend with Sirius I want to make it 2 more. But I don't know if he feels the same. The fear that I am pretending more into his actions is following me.
"You're so naive, whisky. You just think to much about it." the little girl felt embarrassed as her best friend told her the hurtful truth. "But don't worry. I will help you fit in."
And I did fit in. I went with her to the meetings with her slytherin friends and didn't stand out. I kept quiet and just did what she wanted. But I neber felt like an equal. I was just decoration to make them look better. But that wasn't important right now.
It was late afternoon, so there were still many people outside. However, I went to our dorm to avoid them. I ran up the stairs to our room and finally stood in front of the door. I sighed and wanted to go in, but then I heard it.
Crying.
Carefully, I pushed down the handle and entered. The crying stopped. "Who's there?" Lydia's voice trembled.
"It's me," I whispered and walked slowly towards her. She looked surprised and turned away. "Did something happen? Why aren't you with Sirius?"
"We finished earlier," I said and sat down next to her on the bed. "That's not important now. What's wrong?"
She still looked into the distance. "Nothing," she said. Her eyes were red and swollen. Yes, that definitely didn't look like nothing. We were silent for a while, and I didn't know what to say.
"Where is Maya?" I finally asked to lighten the mood. But it seemed to have the opposite effect as she hunched even more.
At first, she didn't say anything, but eventually, she answered, "She's on a date."
"Oh." I was confused. Why hadn't Maya said anything about it? "She didn't say anything about it."
Lydia snorted and looked at me with a sad smile. "No, she probably wanted to keep it a secret. I saw her with Luke today; he's from Ravenclaw, and we're good friends. But apparently, I didn't know how good of friends they were because I saw them together in Hogsmeade today."
Her voice was trembling again, and I slowly took her into my arms. "Maybe you misunderstood something?" I tried to help her.
"Yeah, maybe…" she mumbled into my shoulder and hugged me back slowly. She was shaking and i heard a small muffled sob.
"Do you like him?" I asked her. Somehow, she reminded me of myself when Seraph started dating Sirius. The devastation after you realize that you will never have a chance. I'll probably never forget that feeling.
She was quiet for a moment. Then she gently pulled away from my shoulder and looked into my eyes. Her red swollen eyes were trying hard to not let another tear escape, but that seemed impossible. She seemed to struggle to maintain her composure. Then she took a deep breath. "I like Maya."
"Oh, Lydia…" She looked into my eyes, and I could see new tears forming. Then she cried, not holding back. She buried her head in my shoulder again and sobbed while I stroked her back.
"For how long?" I asked her gently, and she sobbed again. "Since the third year." she whispered. "And she's been going on dates with other guys. It's just hopeless." Another sob escaped from her.
"Have you talked to her about it?" I asked her, and she laughed briefly without joy.
"About what? Hi, I'm actually completely in love with you, and I hope you like me too, even though I know you actually like boys!" she snorted, and I felt her cry even harder.
"I'm just so afraid that she doesn't love me as I love her. I don't even know why I am bothering you with it, we don't know each other that well... " she whispered to me, and I felt the words deep in my bones.
"I'm here for you, okay? I'll listen to you." I whispered to her. It felt wrong to give her advice when I couldn't really understand her situation. I wanted to show her that she could talk to me, that was the best thing I could do. "We are friends, right?"
"From today on, we're all friends, okay??"
I felt a little smile from her, but it quickly faltered from another sob.
"I know I should get over it, but I can't. I can't forget her; I can't even be mad at her. It's not even her fault!" another sob. "That's the curse of Hufflepuffs. We stay even when the other person is long gone."
~~
Eventually, she fell asleep from exhaustion. I had put her in bed, covered her up, and left some water beside her so that she had something to drink when she woke up since she had lost so much water.
I thought about her words for a long time. She couldn't let go of her feelings for Maya because she was trapped in a complex sense of loyalty to her. I felt guilty. How could I not have noticed her suffering all these years?
She must have cried alone here many times before. How did I never notice that?
Because I was with Seraph. I was always out with her or doing things for her in the library. Was it really always like that? Was I really so blind?
Lydia probably hadn't gotten used to the fact that I would be spending more time here now. Or she had expected me to spend more time with Sirius.
Slowly, the door opened, and a tired Maya looked at me. She was holding something, but as she saw me, she quickly hid her it behind her back. "Oh, hi (y/n)!" she said, almost nervously.
She looked behind me, and when she didn't see anyone, she looked at me with tension. "Is Lydia still awake?"
I shook my head and looked at her questioningly. "Why?"
She first looked at me assessingly. Then she sighed and stopped hiding what was in her hands. It was a small yellow teddy bear.
"I was looking for a birthday present for her and bought it today. I don't want her to find out, that's why I didn't tell you, sorry." She carefully passed by me and hid the bear in a box under her bed.
"That's why you were in Hogsmeade today with Luke?" I asked and immediately regretted it. Lydia had confided in me about the situation under distress, I shouldn't tell Maya anything about it.
Maya looked at me questioningly. "How do you know that?"
"I… saw you guys going." I finally said and hoped my lie would come off convincingly.
It didn't.
"Okay… But yes, that's why I went with Luke. We searched also for a present for his brother Luis. He got heartbroken and even though he is stubborn to say that he is happy for her, he is really suffering. But Luke also wanted to help me pick out the gift since Lydia had apparently told him what she wished for."
Maya tiptoed over to Lydia's bed and looked at her for a while. "Why didn't you just tell me?" she whispered so softly that I could hardly hear it. She looked at Lydia for a long time. She wiped a little hair strand out of Lydia's face. She seemed almost... Debilitated.
As she turned to me, she quickly hid that impression behind a mask and smiled. "Let's look together tomorrow at what you want to give her. Let's sleep now before we wake the dorm up even more."
And I went to bed feeling very confused.
~~
I woke up very early from loimpresud noise coming from outside. I looked out the window and saw brooms flying and balls swirling around. The training for the game must have already started. Today, classes were canceled to fully enjoy the match.
"Do you see him from here?"
Lydia was sitting awake on her bed. The cup I had placed here was empty. Maya was fast asleep.
"No?" I knew she was talking about Sirius, but I didn't understand why she was asking me.
She gave me a crooked smile. She would have giggled softly, but she still seemed exhausted. "Then you'll have to go out."
"What? Why?" I was confused.
"You like him. He likes you. So go out and cheer for him so he can play for you!" she said and stood up. She went to the mirror and combed her hair.
"I don't know if…"
She still looked at me with a smile. "What don't you know?"
"I don't know if he wants to see me now." I confessed finally, and she looked at me puzzled.
"Did you guys fight?" "No…" "Then why wouldn't he want to see you? You're together, aren't you?" Now she looked at me with concern.
I looked away and didn't know what to say. Somehow I was ashamed of worrying. I was ashamed of even ending up in this situation. I hadn't even wanted to make Seraph mad, but I couldn't resist Sirius's smile.
I was ashamed of my feelings.
"You're scared. What are you scared of?" Lydia's voice was soft.
I stayed silent and looked at the flowers on my table. Their shine was much fainter than yesterday morning. Was that just my imagination?
"You know… you don't have to tell me anything if you feel uncomfortable. I just want to say that you can talk to me as well as I talked to you yesterday."
She got up and sat down next to me on the bed. Maya was still sleeping. "I trust you. I would also hope that you trust me. Of course, I can't force that, it takes time. But I hope you know that I value you and would never exploit anything you say here. You're my friend, little mouse. I'm not Seraph."
She smiled encouragingly at me now.
"She wasn't on a date." I whispered back. I somehow felt guilty and wanted to help both of them. I didn't want to see miscommunication between them.
Lydia's shoulders relaxed, and it seemed like a huge weight had been lifted off them. But then she shook her head.
"That's not important right now. It's about you, not me. How do you feel?"
Inside me, a little girl cried as her best friend told her she had no chance with her crush. The little girl believed her. Still believes her.
"I'm unsure. I'm afraid of getting false hopes. That everything I'm doing right now is a mistake and she's right."
"He's just passing the time with you." The little girl burst into tears again because of the words of her former best friend.
Lydia looked at me with concern and put a hand on my shoulder. "What false hopes? He's with you." she whispered to me encouragingly, and tears welled up.
Her eyes widened as she saw the tears. "What's wrong?"
"It's not like that…" I tried to calm myself down, as it was pathetic how much of a fuss I was making.
But Lydia just gently stroked my back.
"We're not really together." I finally confessed, and then the tears flowed. All the emotions I kept with myself seemed to flow out of me.
"What? What do you mean?" Lydia was confused, looking at me as if I had said the Earth was square.
"He wanted to pretend to be with me to make Seraph angry. And to divert attention from my hair and the prank." I paused between the statements to catch my breath.
Lydia stayed silent for a moment. Then she hugged me.
We sat there for a while, and eventually she broke the silence. "Go to him. Because I believe he really likes you. He hasn't looked at Seraph or given her any attention in ages. I don't think it's about her anymore."
I looked at her skeptically, and she smiled at me. "Plus, you didn't see how he looked at you yesterday. That can't all be fake. Unless he is a proffer actor."
I let go of her and gave her an uncertain smile. "He's also nice and understanding towards me, I just don't think he likes me that way…"
"If you don't hurry up, the practice will be over! Come on, go to him. How would you know if you don't even try?" we stared at each other for a while.
Finally, I stood up and prepared to go out. Lydia looked at me questioningly before I left.
"Can I explain this to Maya? Otherwise, we won't tell anyone, I promise!" she said, and I smiled. I nodded, and as I walked out, a warmth spread within me. I wasn't alone. I could entrust my feelings to them.
I trusted them.
~~
I walked through the corridors of the castle and felt tons lighter. It felt good to be able to tell friends how I felt. Seraph had never cared about that.
The corridors were empty since it was still very early. The only ones awake were probably outside watching the players warm up.
Excitement slowly rose within me. Maybe Sirius would really be happy to see me. I looked forward to watching them and wishing them luck before they played this afternoon.
I went outside, and you could already see the large Quidditch field from a distance. I approached the spectator stands. There were a few people from Gryffindor in the stands as well. I approached the stands when suddenly someone behind me laughed.
I wanted to just keep going, but I stopped when I heard the voice behind me.
"Ahhh, Whisky! I haven't seen you with us in a long time." I turned around and saw Leander grinning at me. The Slytherin boy and his best friend Damien were on the Slytherin Quidditch team.
"Why did you bring her? I thought it would only be us..." the boy in green told her best friend. But the little girl was used to this words. She was used to not being wanted.
He was standing with his broom and uniform. The team was on the other side from the Gryffindor people and seemed to be waiting to start practicing themselves.
"You should be in Slytherin right now. Especially since you're acting like a snake!" Leander continued grinning at me, and Damien burst out laughing. "Yeah, I have no idea how you ended up in Hufflepuff! Loyalty isn't a word I associate with you."
I wanted to keep going, but Leander shook his head behind me. "You're a real slut, you know that? Seraph took you in, and how did you thank her? You betrayed her." His voice was venomous.
Damien grinned at me. "Yeah, I mean abandon your friends to be with a boy that is so obviously a self obsessed asshole is really a move. If you needed dick that hard you could have just asked me!"
I felt ashamed and disgusted, but anger was rising within me. "Last time I checked, Leander wanted her to get over Sirius so badly?"
Damien stopped laughing and became quiet. I turned to Leander. "I thought you wanted her to finally stop chasing after him? I thought you wanted her to turn to you, why are you so angry?" I didn't know where these words were coming from, but it felt good to defend myself.
Leander looked at me with narrowed eyes. He approached menacingly, and I wanted to step back, but I stayed in place. "Listen to me carefully…" he whispered as he stood right in front of me. "Just because you're with Mister Playboy doesn't mean you're better than before. You're still the same embarrassing Whisky who can't do anything for herself. Soon you'll come crawling to Seraph and beg her for forgiveness. And she'll have to clean up your mess like always."
He stood dangerously close, and I tried to back away, but he grabbed my arms and held me tightly. "You're just incapable of doing things yourself. Not one decision was made by yourself."
"What's going on down there?" a shout came from above.
"Hey, man, let her go, she's not worth it." Damien tried to convince Leander, but he continued to hold me tightly. His grip was so tight that my arms hurt. I wanted to scream and everything inside of me was alarming me, but my voice didn't spoke up.
"And I thought you would appreciate her. You know, I liked you. You were good to Seraph. I didn't expect such disgusting behavior from YOU." he continued talking.
I tried to free myself from his grasp, but he tightened his hold, and his fingernails broke the surface of my skin.
"Let me go!" I finally shouted. For the first time, my voice did what it was supposed to.
Then he pushed me hard against the wall of the stands. My head hit hard, and it throbbed.
"Here, I let you go."
I tried to get up and run away, but my head hurt terribly. I looked at Leander, who was giving me an disgusted look. Then he was lifted into the air. In an instant, Sirius rushed down on his broom and seemed ready to pounce on him, but was a moment to late.
"LEANDER!" Damien reached out to him but couldn't reach him in time.
Leander looked around frantically and screamed. I looked for the person responsible and saw someone on the stands with a raised wand.
"Marlene, you bitch!" Leander shouted at her, but Marlene just looked at him critically.
"Be glad I brought you to safety." she said.
Sirius in front of me looked like he could kill someone. But then he turned to me and looked at me with concern. "Are you okay?" he sat down in front of me and examined my face and arms.
He saw the blood streaks on my arms and looked furious. "It's all right, it doesn't hurt. My head is already feeling much better." I tried to reassure him, but he shook his head.
"Now Selwyn, you have really messed up!" he turned to his broom, but Marlene held him and looked at him critically. She had let Leander fall to the ground. He seemed to be in pain, but nothing serious.
"You won't start a fight before the game, Black. We need you for the game."
Sirius glared at her. "I'm glad you think that, but I couldn't care less about the game right now."
Instead of running away, Leander came in our direction. "Come on, Black!" he shouted from a distance. He had a look that could rival Sirius'. He was searching for a fight with Sirius like he wanted one for ages.
"Sirius, it doesn't matter. I provoked him too." I said, trying to calm him down, but he didn't calm down in the least.
"If you're too scared, then listen to your slut! I could always beat you up!" Leander spread his arms wide.
Sirius seemed to shake of anger. "He didn't call you that." he said through clenched teeth.
Leander smiled at him. "But isn't that what she is?"
Sirius wanted to rush at him, but James, who had been flying in the air until then, landed in front of him. "Don't let him provoke you, mate." he said to him, but Sirius didn't listen to him.
He tried to push past him, but James held him back.
"Let me through." Sirius hissed, but James shook his head. "Sirius, I'm not going to lose you right before the game. After the game, you can beat him up, and I'll be happy to help, but please be patient!"
"What? No!" I cried to them, but they didn't listen to me. I felt terribly helpless as I watched them. I was fine, so why was Sirius so angry? I had never seen that murderous look on him before.
Finally, Sirius turned around. "You're lucky, Selwyn. I'll finish you off in the game."
"I can't wait, Black." this one hissed back.
James clapped loudly afterward, signaling the other Gryffindor players to listen to him. "Guys, we're clearing the field now anyway so Slytherin can prepare to be demolished."
The Slytherin team glared at them until they finally got ready to start practicing.
The Gryffindor team went to the locker room, but Sirius approached me before that. As he was standing before me, he seemed to struggle to find the right words.
He was still looking in the direction of the slytherin team and his eyes were narrowed. He took my arms and gently pulled me with him. When they were out of sight he looked at me with this look that made me feel safe. He was still full of anger, I saw that in his eyes, but it soothed me that this anger wasn't directed at me.
"Will you wait for me?"
I just nodded, and he even managed to smile at me.
I didn't even get a chance to watch him play.
After Sirius went into locker room Marlene approached me and seemed delighted to see me. "When Selwyn bothers you again tell me, okay? I can deal with him." she said with a completely different attitude than the one on the field.
I remembered her words in the bathroom and managed to smile back. "Thank you."
She grinned at that. "That also applies for black. Just say if he gets annoying." She winked at me and went to the other Gryffindor girls that were going back to their dorms. The girls that were standing there smiled at me and I didn't feel judged for once.
I had to smile when they walked away, towards the castle.
~~
While I was alone I looked around and took in the nature. The wind blew through the grass and made it dance in waves. The trees rustled and seemed to sing a beautiful melody. The great lake, which wasn't so far away, was babbling. They all seemed excited for the game that was coming up.
Or was that just my interpretation?
"Can I come with you?" The little girl asked her new best friend. This one didn't seemed to be very happy about it. "Why do you want to watch it? It's not even your house?" The naive girl smiled. "I want to cheer with you!"
I tried to shake the memory away but it didn't really get out of my mind. My excitement for the game wavered and my mind rotated around seraph. Why were her words always on my mind?
"Are you coming or not? If you are so scared than perhaps you should find new friends you can be boring with!"
I heard voices that seemed to be from little girls. I looked around for them and eventually found them on the wide green field of grass. There were two girls, seemingly first graders. One was from Gryffindor the other from ravenclaw. The voice was coming from the girl with the red tie and her face was frowning.
"I'm just... Not sure if that would really be worth it. The forest isn't really inviting and when it comes out we would be in massive trouble!" the other girl was shaking and she had to take a couple of breaths between her words.
"You are just a coward!" the other girl glared at her. "I'm not being friends with a whiny coward!" then she turned around.
The others girls eyes widened and there was something glimmering in them. "No, don't leave, please!!"
Slowly I approached them. Something about them triggered something inside of me. I wanted to do something. I wanted to help the ravenclaw girl that was gripping her rope for dear help.
"Is something wrong here?" I asked to make myself noticed. Four big eyes looked at me. Two were glaring the other two were desperate.
"Come on do it! If you drink the whole bottle, you can finally be accepted as an equal in the group!" But the girl was scared to drink a whole bottle of whiskey. "But I don't know if I manage that much alcohol." Her friend rolled the eyes. "Well, if you are such a stuck up, then I guess I have to find a new best friend." The little girl was scared and did drink the whole bottle in front of the slytherin students.
And she vomited on her test the next day.
"No, there is nothing wrong." the Gryffindor girl said and smiled at me. The ravenclaw looked at the ground and was still shaking.
"Is everything okay with you?" I asked the little girl that tried to hide from my gaze.
"She is great!" the other girl said.
"Are you okay?" the boy with the black hair asked the little girl. He probably didn't know her but it meant so much to her. But like always her friend answered instead of ber. "She is great!"
One hour later she was carried to the hospital wing because of very high blood alcohol levels.
"I didn't ask you, I asked her." I said to the girl with the red tie. I looked at the little girl before me and smiled softly at her. "You are right the forest is dangerous. You shouldn't go."
The Gryffindor girl looked at me furious. "Don't you know it's rude to eavesdrop?!" she yelled at me.
"Don't you know it's called the forbidden forest because it's forbidden to go in?"I asked back and her face went red. She looked at her friend and stomped her foot on the floor.
"This is all your fault! I hate you!" she screamed and ran away in direction castle.
The little girl before me looked after her and quivered. In her eyes was something glistening and water flowed down her cheeks.
"It's not your fault."
Big eyes catched mine and looked uncertain. A hiccup escaped her and she tried to muffle it with her hands. After a while she said something.
"But it feels like I am always ruining her fun."
I sat down on my knees in front of her to be on one level with her. I wiped her tears away and gave her a small knowing smile.
"You know what friendship is?" I asked and she looked at me questioning.
"When you can do anything with each other." she said after a while and her sobs became calmer.
"Not quite. Friendship is not that you have to do everything she wants. Friendship is when you can trust each other with everything and don't have to pretend. Friendship is when you understand and accept each other's feelings. If this understanding is not there, then you are not really friends."
She looked at me with wide eyey.
"Your feelings matter just as much as hers. And if she doesn't understand those then she isn't your real friend."
She began to cry again and hugged me. I was taken back a moment but then hugged her back.
"What's your name?" I asked her.
"Nera." she softly said.
"Well nera, I am (y/n). If you need help with anything you can always come to me, okay? I am here for you."
She smiled at me and nodded. Her cheeks started to dry and her eyes didn't shine because of the tears anymore.
"Thank you, (y/n)." she shyly said and waved at me as she walked in direction castle. I looked after her and smiled to myself.
A whistle came from behind me. I turned to Sirius who smiled at me. "You should be a prefect, love. You handled that so well."
I laughed softly. "I wouldn't go that far. I just helped the little girl a bit."
He came closer to me and I could feel his warmth as he stood before me. I noticed his wet hair and the one earring he wore. He shaked his head. "You were amazing, love. Not just helping, you comforted her. You have taken care of her. That's one of the tasks of a prefect, love."
I softly smiled at him and for a second I let myself admire him. His eyes and their depth. His hair and their shine. His lips.
"We should go to lunch now, love. I am almost certain you haven't eaten enough today." he teased me and tapped on my nose.
"You have to eat enough too! You have a big game before you." I teased back and he softly laughed. He took my hand and we went to lunch.
The little girl was called whisky after that. At first she didn't mind, but after a while it became like a reminder of that evening. Now she hates the name.
Prologue Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
Tumblr media
"You can go now." Madam Pomfrey looked at me critically. "And take care of yourself."
I nodded and gathered my things. I hid the flowers among my belongings and sneaked back to our common room. There were only a few people there as it was evening. But those who were there cast curious glances at me.
"If the whole school thought there was something between us, would you be ashamed?"
Part of me wanted to hide, while the other seemed to be flying. I was excited and scared at the same time. These feelings could only be triggered by Sirius, and that scares me.
I rushed up to our room with my things. The other girls were awake and looked at me surprised. Lydia seemed to recover first. "You're feeling better! I'm so glad; you really scared us."
I had to smile crookedly. "I'm sorry."
I unpacked my things and sorted them back in. Lydia and Maya just watched me. Eventually, Maya broke the silence. "Hey, I can't stand it anymore, what happened? You have to tell us!"
She sat on her bed and looked at me with an expectant smile. I don't know exactly why, but that somehow made me happy. Seraph had never asked about me or shown any interest in what was going on with me.
Without her, I almost felt lighter. Was it wrong to think that?
"It's complicated; I'm still overwhelmed by everything that happened," I said finally. I had now finished putting everything away, and the flowers were smiling at me.
When Lydia saw them, she squealed, "Are those from Sirius?" Her voice was very high-pitched.
I nodded. "Does one of you have a vase? Or a cup, that would work too."
Eagerly, Lydia rummaged on her bedside table and finally gave me a cup. I thanked her and filled the cup with water, placing the flowers inside. I put them on my nightstand, and they looked radiant.
"Are you two a couple?" Maya asked with a smile on her face.
Shit.
If I say now that we're a couple, it feels like I'm lying. But if I claim the opposite, then the truth about Sirius will come out in the next few days.
"Wasn't Seraph with him until three months ago?" Lydia asked, and my feelings of guilt returned and plagued me.
"Yes, Seraph was with him," I finally said, staring at the flowers.
Lydia said nothing for a while. Then she cautiously asked, "What does she think of him and you?"
I tensed unknowingly, and the flowers seemed to lose some of their shine. "She's angry. She made it clear to me this afternoon that she wants nothing to do with me."
Maya sighed. "Honestly, I'm glad you have nothing to do with her anymore," she said.
I looked at her surprised. "Why?"
She looked nervously away. "Well, she always dragged you around with her and kept us away from you."
My eyes widened. "Did she?"
Lydia laughed nervously. "Yes, she constantly made it clear that you belonged to her, and we shouldn't take you away from her."
That didn't sound like the words she threw at me.
Maya shook her head and looked at me with a sad smile. "And when she saw you with Sirius, last Christmas, she immediately went after him. Even though she had no interest in him before. I'm glad you're with him now and not letting her hold you back."
Did she know I had a crush on him? Had she always known that I liked him and still said all those things? Had she known all those years I admired him from afar, and yet she talked about me to him? Did she still flirt with him? Did she still come crying to me when he broke up with her, expecting me to take her side?
"Hey, are you okay?" Maya looked at me concerned. I just nodded and smiled at her.
"Can I still have breakfast with you tomorrow?" I asked eventually. Maya just smiled at me.
"No, you can't. You have to!" she said. "We have to look after you so you don't end up in the hospital again!"
Lydia giggled excitedly and hugged me. "I'm so glad you're feeling better! From today on, we're all friends, okay??" she asked, looking excitedly into my eyes.
I smiled and nodded. Then she hugged me again and squealed with excitement. Maya and I laughed along.
This was one of the most beautiful evenings I had ever had.
~~
"(Y/n), wake up, we need to go to breakfast!" Maya called before disappearing into the bathroom. I turned to the other side of the bed, trying to fall back asleep. I almost succeeded, but then a pillow hit me.
"Don't fall asleep again! Come on." Lydia called from the other side of the room. I sighed and sat up. I rubbed my eyes and searched for my things to get ready.
When Maya came out of the bathroom, I quickly slipped in and got ready. I looked in the mirror, and even the green hair didn't bother me that much.
When I came out, Maya and Lydia were already waiting for me. I smiled at them, and we went to the Great Hall together. I was so happy that even the looks from others didn't bother me. Until I saw her gaze.
Seraph looked at me as if I were a disgusting insect daring to buzz around. She wrinkled her nose and rolled her eyes. Suddenly, I felt insecure. But Maya pulled me along to our place.
We sat down at the table. Maya sat next to Lydia, and I sat across from them.
"To be honest, I have no desire for Professor Binns' class," Maya sighed loudly. But then she looked at me with a curious grin. "I'd much rather hear what's going on with you and Sirius."
I laughed nervously, hoping it was just a joke, but she kept looking at me that way. Eventually, I sighed. "It's complicated," I said finally. To be honest, I didn't know what to say. I didn't know how he wanted to pretend we were together.
Lydia giggled. "I don't know what you mean; he seems totally into you. I mean, he's staring at you right now!"
My eyes widened. "Is he?" I asked and turned around slowly. And sure enough, Sirius was looking into my eyes, smiling at me while James was telling him something. I smiled back cautiously and turned back around.
Maya looked at me expectantly. I quickly lowered my head to my breakfast and ate something. Then she sighed. "What do you have as the first class today?" she asked finally.
"Transfiguration. It's not bad; we worked well last time and already solved the assignment," I replied, trying to collect myself.
Lydia clapped excitedly. "I have Transfiguration too! You have to explain it to me, please, please!"
I laughed. "Don't worry, we can sit down together and look at it again."
Suddenly, both of them became quiet and looked behind me. Then they grinned at each other and lowered their gaze to their food.
"What's -"
"Darling, how are you?" Sirius asked and sat down next to me. He smiled at me warmly. My gaze wandered first to him, then to his friends. James was just grinning, while Remus continued to eat. Peter was also looking at us, and they weren't the only ones.
I saw glances directed at us from almost everywhere. I laughed nervously and suddenly felt very tense. "I'm good," I finally said in a softer voice.
Sirius didn't let the audience show at all. He just smiled and brushed a green strand of hair from my face. "I'm glad. Do you have time after school today?"
I could barely get words out and just nodded. He grinned even wider as if I had saved his day. "We can go over the material you missed yesterday. Does that sound good?"
I smiled back at him unsurely. "Yes, that sounds great." I thought he would then leave, but he stayed and looked at me critically for a moment. "How much have you eaten today?" he asked, almost like my mother.
I laughed at that. "I've eaten a lot already; I have witnesses!" I said, forgetting the others who were watching us.
Sirius looked over at my friends and grinned at them. "Take care of her, okay?" he said playfully, and Maya and Lydia just nodded and grinned.
"Hey, it happened once, it doesn't happen all the time!" I said, but Sirius turned away from me now.
"You can only say that when you don't end up in the hospital wing again this month, love," he said, and I could hear his grin. Lydia wiggled her eyebrows at me, and I had to laugh.
When I was finished, I took my things and wanted to go to Transfiguration, but then Sirius took my things and smiled at me. "Let's go, love," he said and turned around to leave.
"I was actually going with Lydia," I started, but Lydia shook her head and made frantic hand movements.
"What's wrong?" Sirius asked, looking at me inquisitively. I shook my head and smiled at him. "You don't have to carry my things, you know?"
He looked at me critically. "Darling, maybe I don't have to, but I want to! Is it so hard to believe that I want to help my girlfriend?"
Maya grinned at me, and Lydia's mouth was open in astonishment. I suddenly felt way too hot and light at the same time.
"Come on, let's go," he took my hand and held both my and his things pressed against himself with the other hand; I don't know how he managed that. Warmth flowed through my hand and slowly spread through my body.
We walked through the corridors, and when we were alone, I wanted to take my things back, but he held them up so high that I couldn't reach them.
"Forget it, I'll go through with this completely now! What kind of boyfriend would I be if I gave you your things back the moment we're alone? I can give you the answer: a bad one!" he said with a smug grin.
I blushed against my will. "But you're not really-"
He suddenly looked at me with a look that made me immediately regret what I was about to say.
"You know, when we're not in front of others, then you're not really-" he interrupted me with a quick kiss on the cheek, silencing me.
He smiled at me, almost nervously. "What if someone sees us when we thought we were alone? No, if that happens, then I'll take care of everything, you can count on that."
Before I could say anything in response, we were in front of the Transfiguration room, surrounded by people. He put my things on my table and winked at me before going to his seat.
James finally sat down next to me with an amused grin on his face. I rolled my eyes, but I couldn't help but smile.
"So…" he began. "How did it happen?" He looked at me expectantly, which made me laugh nervously.
"Why don't you ask Sirius?"
James just rolled his eyes. "He never wants to say anything about it."
I smiled at him briefly. "Then I probably shouldn't either."
Before James could ask more questions, the lesson began.
~~
The hours flew by, and after each class, Sirius would take my things and carry them to the next one.
At first, I tried to convince him that he didn't have to do that, but he remained stubborn, so I eventually gave up. I didn't understand why it was so important to him. Carrying my things wouldn't make any difference in how others perceived us. He was only doing it for show, not because he wanted to.
But I wished so much that he genuinely wanted to do it. Was that wrong?
Was it wrong that it somehow made me happy? I liked the feeling of someone doing something for me because they wanted to. Did that make me a toxic person?
After the last class, Lydia approached me before Sirius could. She looked around for him first and saw him engaged in a conversation. Then she smiled widely at me.
"You're going to the library later to study with him, right?" she asked me, and I nodded.
"If you ever have some free time with him, could we study Transfiguration together? I'm really bad at it," she pouted slightly and looked at me with pleading eyes.
I chuckled. "Of course, we can do that. I should have some time tomorrow."
She looked at me with a questioning gaze. "Don't you think he might have plans with you tomorrow and want to do something together? Because it's not that urgent for me, I can ask someone else."
I looked at her in confusion. "Why would he want to do something with me tomorrow?"
She looked at me as if I had lost my mind. "Tomorrow is his Quidditch match, hello?"
"After the game, he probably wants to celebrate with his friends, right? I don't want to interfere with that," I replied, feeling somewhat uncertain. I thought he would want to spend time with his teammates after the match, not with me.
"How would you interfere with that? You would just join the celebration, right? Why do you think that?" Lydia said with a puzzled expression.
Every time I asked Seraph if I could join her at the Quidditch celebration, she always told me that I would only be a bother. And even now, I believed her more than myself.
"I don't know, somehow I feel like I would just be a nuisance there," I said cautiously, but Lydia gasped in shock.
"You would never… Wait, did he tell you that? If so, that's super toxic—"
"No, no, he didn't. He didn't have to say anything. We haven't talked about it," I reassured her, but before she could say anything else, someone cleared their throat behind us.
We turned to see Sirius, who was looking at me with that indistinguishable expression again.
"Can we talk for a moment?" he asked me, but it sounded more like a desperate demand.
I simply nodded and wondered how much he had heard and if I had said anything wrong. He took my hand and began pulling me with him, and Lydia held my other hand.
"Don't get any wrong ideas, Black," she said, trying to sound serious and threatening, but her slightly raised corners of the mouth betrayed her. Then she let us go.
~~
Sirius almost dragged me through the castle until we eventually went outside. He led me to the Black Lake, where he finally sat down. I cautiously sat next to him.
He stared out at the lake, still wearing that intense expression. Eventually, I couldn't stand the silence and asked him, "What's wrong?"
He glanced at me briefly, then looked back at the lake. He picked up a small stone and threw it into the water. It skipped four times.
"I wonder what you think of me."
"What do you mean?" I asked cautiously.
He threw another stone. This one skipped five times. "Sometimes, you say things that sound like I'm not voluntarily with you. Sometimes, you look at me as if you expect me to take advantage of you. You have this look as if you don't trust me."
"Please, Whisky, as if he ever really wants to have anything to do with you! He was a jerk to you from the moment we first met; you just don't interest him!"
I could still hear Seraph's laughter distinctly.
I looked at him and wanted to reassure him, but I couldn't find the words. He looked at me, and his gaze was so intense that it took my breath away.
"Is it so hard to believe that I enjoy being with you?" he whispered, so softly that I could barely hear it.
"No, it's not," I tried to reassure him. He looked back at the lake.
We didn't believe each other.
He chuckled softly and closed his eyes. "You have that look again," he whispered.
We remained silent for a while, simply listening to the sound of the lake. We sat there for a while, and at some point, I felt his gaze on me.
I turned to him and saw that he was looking at my green hair. He raised his hand but stopped midway. Then he looked into my eyes. "I'm sorry that the prank hit you. Does it bother you a lot?" he asked, looking at me with big eyes.
"I do want my old hair back, yes," I said, looking back at the lake.
"Why?" he asked, still looking at me.
I laughed at the question. "Have you seen me? I look terrible with it." Even worse than usual.
He was quiet for a moment. I looked back at him, and his gaze softened. Suddenly, he pulled me towards him and enveloped me in his arms. His warm arms gently wrapped around my body and stroked my back.
"I find you beautiful, with or without green hair. Besides, it looks great on you, love. I think we need to take you to an eye doctor," he whispered in my ear.
I felt myself blush and buried my face further in his arms. It felt like my body was on fire. How could Sirius trigger these feelings in me?
"Let's go to the library; we still need to study yesterday's material," he whispered to me after we had been in that position for a while.
I pulled away from him and nodded to him. He smiled and took my hand again, setting off another fireworks of emotions within me.
~~
"You don't need me at all!" said Sirius dramatically after we finished with Defense Against the Dark Arts as well. I laughed and handed him his notes.
He watched me as I wrote down my own notes and marked the important things. Eventually, he got up. "I'm going to grab one of the spell books real quick to explain Charms better to you, okay?" he said, and I gave him a thumbs up while continuing to write.
I packed up my Defense Against the Dark Arts stuff and took out my Charms materials when I saw her.
Seraph was sitting in the other corner of the room, smiling at me, sending a cold shiver down my spine. The other Slytherin girls sitting at her table were the ones who were also at the party. They were her roommates.
Slowly, Seraph got up and approached me. I lowered my gaze again, hoping she would walk past me. But she stopped in front of me.
"He's helping you catch up with the material, right?" she said, and I heard the grin in her voice.
I looked up at her, wondering how I had never noticed the coldness in her eyes before.
"He probably just went off to fetch one of the books that could help you, right?"
I lowered my head again and looked at my notes.
"Can I tell you something? He did the exact same thing with me. He probably invited you to his Quidditch celebration, just like he did with me. He's just using you as a replacement, can you believe it?"
I tried to tune her out, but I couldn't.
"Oh, Whisky, you're so blind. Why don't you ever listen to me?" Her voice was gentle, and a part of me let her words in.
"He's just passing the time with you." With that, she turned around and walked back to her friends, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
When Sirius came back, I couldn't look him in the eyes. He returned with a book, which he proudly presented to me.
"I was a bit unsure at first, but with this book, I can easily explain the spell to you-"
I felt sick as Seraph's words replayed in my head. "Can we do the rest tomorrow? I'm feeling quite exhausted," I said to quickly get away from here.
He looked somewhat disappointed but then nodded. "Sure, but take the book with you and read Chapter 4 about Household Charms. It should help." He handed me the book.
"Thanks, Sirius," I said, putting the book away safely. I wanted to get up and leave, but he suddenly reached for my hand.
"Will you come to the match tomorrow?" he asked, looking vulnerable all of a sudden.
I smiled weakly at him. "Yes, I'll be cheering for you. Slytherin shouldn't beat you guys."
He nodded briefly but didn't let go of me. "And would you celebrate the game with me afterward?"
I nodded in response, feeling something warm inside. But as he smiled back at me, Seraph's words came rushing back.
"He's just passing the time with you."
I pulled my hands out of his and quickly left the library. He didn't follow me.
"You had that look again," the older Black whispered as he watched her leave.
Prologue part 1
Tumblr media
"Did you see that? He just winked at me! I told you there's still something between us!" Seraph whispered in my ear. It seemed like he winked at m-… But she was probably right; I shouldn't think narcissistically.
Three months ago, she and Sirius broke up because he saw her apparently fooling around with another boy. She insisted that he meant everything to her and the other boy meant nothing, but he didn't listen.
In the past few weeks, tension had been building up between them. Seraph saw it as a sign that he couldn't be without her. I don't know what he was thinking; I don't know him well.
But I wish I did.
"Whisky? Are you listening to me?" Seraph brought me back to the present.
"Yes, sorry. I just remembered something."
She looked at me skeptically. "What is it?"
'Hey, what's your name?' His voice echoed in my ears. It sounded so beautiful. 'I'm-' 'Whisky, where are you?' Seraph searched for me. 'Always the same with this girl…' she whispered, but I heard it anyway. But she surely didn't mean it that way. 'Whisky?' he asked with a grin that, with anyone else, would have seemed like he was making fun of them. But with Sirius, it just looked charming.
'Ah, there you are!' Seraph came over to us before I could say anything. She glanced at me briefly, then at Sirius. Then she smiled at me. 'Come, Whisky, you must be tired; after all, we have a test tomorrow, and you wanted to go to bed early.' I still don't know why she said that back then; I never said I wanted that.
She turned to Sirius. 'She's a real nerd.' She laughed loudly, but I didn't understand what was so funny. 'You know, once when she didn't get enough sleep before a test, she vomited on her exam paper! That's why she had to retake the test under difficult conditions. She was embarrassed for weeks.'
Why was she telling him that? I was still ashamed.
Sirius grinned at me even wider. 'Then I won't stop you, little Whisky. You can go to sleep before you vomit again tomorrow.' He laughed, and she laughed with him. I eventually left without her; she had probably forgotten that she came for me, after all.
"I just remembered your first encounter with Sirius." My first encounter with him.
She smiled. "Yes, I remember it well too. We clicked right away." While I couldn't get a word out.
"That's why I'm shocked that he's resisting reconciliation now! We were such a beautiful couple!"
Yes, they were. Better than I could ever have been with him.
"He'll surely come to you soon and listen to you," I reassured her.
She smiled at me even more brightly. "Thanks, Whisky, you're the best!"
The bell rang. The next class was about to start.
"I'll head to Potions now. See you later." She quickly gathered her things and was about to leave, but then she turned around.
"Wait, Whisky, I have a small favor to ask. Could you help me with the Defense Against the Dark Arts homework? I got detention with Slughorn and don't have time to do it anymore."
I nodded to her as she turned away.
"Thanks!" she called out as she rushed to the next class.
Sometimes it felt like she couldn't wait to get away from me.
~
I had Transfiguration class with Professor McGonagall. During these classes, the Marauders, including Sirius, were also present. I sat next to James, who, for reasons I won't mention, was seated away from Sirius.
At first, I thought maybe he would hate me because of the whole Seraph and Sirius situation, but he was surprisingly nice to me. He always worked with me in partner activities and didn't leave me to do everything alone.
Today, he smiled at me as we started working. "Okay, my favorite Hufflepuff, what do you think today?"
"Well, I think we need to transform the chair into a crocodile," I replied sarcastically. He laughed at that.
"No, that's not what I meant. I wanted to ask if you're coming to the party tonight?"
Party? Usually, Seraph would tell me about it, but this time, she hadn't mentioned a word.
"Actually, I had plans for tonight…" "Oh, come on, you have to come! Something big is going to happen at the party tonight, believe me. You need to see it!" he boasted. I chuckled at that.
"I'll ask Seraph," I said finally. He looked at me strangely.
"Why do you have to ask her? That self absorbed Slytherin already knows about the party and will be there; we already know that."
We. He wasn't just talking about himself; everyone knew she would be at the party. Sirius knew she would be at the party. Everyone except me.
"Don't talk about her like that. She's very nice, you know?" I defended her. Yes, she was nothing but nice to me. She was the first friend I found here.
But he just laughed. "Nice? Come on, 'Whisky,' she uses everyone around her! Sirius has seen it up close, and I'm sure you know it too."
"I told you to stop talking about her like that!" I snapped at him. He looked surprised, but he didn't say anything more. I hated that his words were making me doubt myself. Seraph was my best friend. If I couldn't trust her, then who could I trust?
James cleared his throat shortly after. "Will you still come? We'd love to have you there."
We.
"I'll consider it. I would like to come too." I finally said.
He gave me another smile, and we continued working.
~
"Why didn't you tell me about the party?" Why did you tell me you had detention when you were actually going to a party?
Seraph looked surprised. "Well, the last time at one of the parties, you left early. I thought you would feel uncomfortable."
I left early because you and Sirius were making fun of me. Because you ruined any chance I might have had with him.
"I'd like to go with you."
She looked briefly disappointed. Almost angry that I said that. But then she smiled again. "If you want to. Let's go together tonight."
Relief washed over me. That was Seraph, my friend. Why was I thinking all these things about her? Do you really don't know?
~
"Do you really want to wear that? I mean, I don't mind, it just looks a bit weird. It accentuates that you've gained weight, don't you think?" Seraph explained without stopping.
I suddenly felt uncomfortable. I had wanted to wear a dress, but now all I saw was myself looking like a duck in it.
"It somehow doesn't suit you, right? I mean, there are other things that look better on you! Like…" she paused painfully long.
Finally, she just said, "Forget it." I ended up just putting on a big sweater and loosely fitting pants.
"What do you think of this?" Seraph came out of the bathroom with a beautiful dress. It accentuated all her curves, and the color suited her black hair and blue eyes perfectly.
I smiled at her, even though something inside me tightened. "You look great."
She smiled back at me. "Could you help me with the makeup?"
Of course, I helped her.
She didn't even ask if I wanted to wear makeup too. Maybe it wouldn't help me anyway.
"So! Finally done," Seraph said, looking into the mirror once more. "It's not my best work, but whatever."
She looked like a goddess next to me. She was perfect, oh so perfect. How much I wished…
No, I'm being unreasonable.
She turned to me and smiled. "Shall we go then?"
She didn't even think that maybe I'd get ready too. I have to follow her lead.
I nodded and smiled. "Sure. You look wonderful."
She laughed. "Be careful not to fall in love with me!"
I forced myself to laugh along with her.
No worries, that won't happen anytime soon.
Then we went to the party.
~~
It was loud. Many people were there, pushing and squeezing together. Seraph seemed to thrive in this environment. She just rushed into the crowd without waiting for me.
But I was used to it, and I managed to keep up with her anyway.
She danced on the dance floor, laughing and singing along with the others. She danced with the people there, and the lights illuminated them all perfectly. She moved through the sea of lights like the sun amidst the planets.
I didn't even bother trying to dance; I knew I was terrible at it. Seraph moved so naturally, while I just felt awkward.
So I stood outside the dance floor and watched her. Without her, I felt somewhat lost. Although I actually liked being here, without her, everything felt so new. She was always the one pulling me along everywhere. Without her, I was on my own.
I shook my head. I wanted to be here! So I should make the most of it.
I sat at the bar where I had a good view of the dance floor. That way, Seraph could easily find me too. I ordered a drink and looked around. There were really a lot of people there, almost too many for my taste, but it was still okay.
"Hey, it's good to see you here," I heard the voice I never expected would talk to me.
Sirius sat next to me as if I were a close acquaintance, and it was the most natural thing in the world.
I glanced at him briefly, then looked away. "I think you've got the wrong person."
I felt his gaze on me, and his voice sounded amused. "Why do you think I'm in the wrong place?"
I gave in and looked at him. "Do you know who I am?"
He laughed and stared at me for a while. When I looked at him inquiringly, his smile disappeared, and he looked puzzled. "Damn, you're serious. 'Whisky' , did you forget? We talked last Christmas. Besides, we have many classes together, and my friends and I literally invited you. You're not as invisible as you think," he said, looking bewildered.
His words overwhelmed me. I always thought I went unnoticed when Seraph was in the same room. Everyone immediately talked to her. There was nothing wrong with that, when she was seraph and i were me.
Suddenly, I felt uncomfortable under Sirius' gaze. If he knew who I was, why was he talking to me? Did he want to ask about Seraph?
Yes, that must be it. He wants to ask me how to get along better with Seraph.
"Hey, are you still there?" he suddenly asked. I nodded briefly and took a sip of my drink.
I stared straight ahead. I couldn't meet his gaze again. There was something intense in his eyes, and it made me nervous.
"Do you like it here?" he continued undeterred. Despite me not contributing much to the conversation, he was making an effort.
"Yes, it's pleasant," I replied, wanting to say more, but only thoughts about Seraph came to mind, and I didn't want to mention her first to him.
I could hear the smile in his voice. "I'm glad. We put in a lot of effort. Today is meant to be perfect."
I couldn't help but wonder what he meant by that. Was he finally going to reconcile with her?
"Sirius!!!" I heard her shout. She ran towards us, no, towards him, trying to hug him, but he dodged her. Eventually he couldn't dodge her longer and she clung on him like a koala bear.
Speak of the devil.
"Seraphine, could you please let go of me?" Sirius' eyes were narrowed as he looked at Seraph, who was pouting.
"Full name? What happened to Sera? You're so cold, Siri!" she said but eventually let him go.
Sirius rolled his eyes in annoyance. "I wonder where that comes from."
She just shook her head in response. "Come on, Sirius, you can stop pretending to hate me. You know it was nothing serious with him!"
He snorted and wrinkled his nose. "I know it wasn't serious. You were making out with three other guys that week, and those are just the ones I know of."
She did what??
Seraph glanced briefly at me, as if she just noticed I was there, then looked back at Sirius. "You broke my heart! You can't blame me for wanting to have some fun!"
"I don't know how much 'fun' you've had during our relationship, and honestly, I don't want to know." Sirius finally said, then he turned to me.
"Where were we? Oh yes, preparing for the party! Yes, we had a lot of fun, and I'm glad you're enjoying it. Have you danced yet?"
Before I could answer, Seraph spoke for me. "Oh, please, Whisky and dancing? Come on, stop pretending you're actually interested in her; it won't make me jealous!"
He didn't even turn around; he just looked into my eyes. "Did I talk to you, Seraphine? No, I didn't. And unlike you, I don't talk to people just to use them, so shut up!"
I felt out of place and wanted to leave when he asked again, "Have you danced yet?"
After Seraph's words, I felt embarrassed to shake my head, but saying it out loud would only make it more awkward.
He smiled gently, as if Seraph wasn't standing angry behind him. "Would you like to dance with me?"
He extended his hand towards me, and I could hear Seraph sharply inhale. "Sirius, you're acting ridiculous, don't you realize? I mean, why are you asking her when I'm right here-"
"CAN'T YOU SEE THAT I REALLY WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU??" he angrily yelled at her.
She fell silent after that. I saw something glimmer in her eyes, and I immediately felt guilty.
"I hate you!" she shouted before rushing off to the restroom.
He sighed, almost relieved, and turned back to me. "Would you?" he asked, with that smile again. And there came my problem. I wanted to. And it felt like I was the worst person in the world for it.
Tears welled up in me as I thought of Seraph, probably crying her eyes out.
Sirius' gaze was still focused on me, but I had already made up my mind.
"Sorry, I have to go through, can you move aside?" I asked him without looking at him.
I could feel his disappointment as he stepped aside and let me go after Seraph.
I quickly ran after her to the girls' restroom, so I wouldn't change my mind.
~
Inside, it smelled, and the air was stuffy.
Seraph stood in front of the mirror, reapplying her lipstick. She didn't turn to look at me and just kept going. "There you are. I thought I had lost my best friend to that wannabe Casanova."
She wasn't crying. She was fine. "I thought you were -" I started, but she just laughed.
"Those crocodile tears I pulled out? They were just for show."
She inspected her eyes and sighed in annoyance. "But now I have to redo my eyeliner! Well, hopefully, he feels guilty now and comes begging for my forgiveness!"
"I thought you weren't feeling well. I thought you needed my help!" I was bewildered. Was all that just for show?
She didn't even look at me. "Come on, Whisky, it's not a big deal. I'm just trying to get back together with my ex-boyfriend; after all, he broke my heart!"
She now did her other eye. "And he's just as terrible. I mean, asking you to dance in front of me? He's trying to use you against me, that bastard! You should be much more upset about it!"
"I don't think -"
She burst out laughing. "Please, Whisky, as if he ever really wants to have anything to do with you! He was a jerk to you from the moment we first met; you just don't interest him!"
That hurt. Even though I should already know that. But hearing it from her hurt more than it should. Tears welled up in me, and I tried to turn away so she wouldn't notice, but she already did.
She sighed loudly and finally turned around. "Whisky, please don't cry again. I don't mean it in a mean way; I'm just being realistic."
I nodded vigorously, so she would stop talking and I could calm down. But then, a sob escaped me.
She came from behind me and hugged me. "I just want to protect you. He will only take advantage of you. I don't want to see you hurt, especially not because of him. Isn't one broken heart because of Sirius enough?"
I nodded and hugged her back. After a while, she gently pushed me. "Come on, that's enough crying now; you'll ruin my dress."
I quickly let go of her and went to the sink to wash my face.
Then she took my arm. "Come on, we can leave. By now, he should feel guilty enough."
I just nodded and followed her, as always.
~~
Seraph walked with her head held high through the crowd, ignoring the people around her. She tried to act as hurt as possible, to make it 'not so easy for Sirius' – her words, not mine.
I tried to hide behind her and shrink myself. I looked down and followed her fast steps.
It was a weird situation that I couldn't handle. I hoped Sirius wouldn't approach me again.
Seraph headed for the bar, but on the exact opposite side from where we were before.
"I really need a drink," she whispered to me. I just nodded and followed her to the bar.
Instead of the guy who was serving drinks before, James and Peter were there now, apparently discussing something. Peter looked concerned, but James was just smiling and shaking his head.
Seraph went to the bar and raised her hand, demanding attention. "Bartender!" she called as if they were her slaves. Although she knew James and Peter well as they were friends with Sirius, she didn't let it show.
James came over to us, while Peter looked worried in our direction. I wondered what that was supposed to mean.
"What can I get for our snake?" James asked with a sugary voice and a fake smile.
Seraph didn't even flinch. "Your humor is still in the basement, Potter."
"I think it's yours that's in the basement, considering you took that as a joke. I was quite serious." he retorted.
Seraph looked challengingly into his eyes. "I just want a simple lemonade, but if that's too difficult for your little brain, you can also make me a cocktail, as you seem to know them by heart with how much you drink!" With that, she turned around and went to the dance floor.
I probably had to bring her the drink.
James grumbled. "Inflated bit-, what do you want, Huffle?" he asked me finally.
I pointed to the first drink on the menu and kept an eye out for her, so I wouldn't lose her.
Seraph danced energetically with the crowd. She laughed with a few Slytherin girls who were her roommates.
It makes me sad that we are in different houses, but on the other hand, I'm glad that we are still good friends.
Yet, an uneasy feeling arises within me when she laughs with these girls. It always feels like they are looking down on me.
"Here are your drinks." James placed two drinks on the counter. One was a lemonade, the other a fancy fruit and sugar drink that I didn't recognize. Oh God.
"Thanks." I said and waved to seraph to come and get her drink. Normally, I would go to her, but it wouldn't be a good idea to run around with my drink.
Seraph was engrossed in her conversation with them, so she didn't notice me. Then, one of the girls smiled at me, but it wasn't a friendly smile. She laughed and said something to seraph. She laughed in response and slowly came over to me.
"She always leaves you alone," I heard James' voice behind me. I ignored him and smiled at seraph, handing her the drink.
She looked at my drink for a long moment. Then she looked at me skeptically. "Do you really want to drink that? It has a lot of sugar and calories, and you already had a piece of cake today. So it's your decision. But I'd trade with you; the lemonade has not that much sugar in it."
My stomach suddenly felt strange, and I felt even more uncomfortable in my skin.
I just nodded and handed her my drink, while she gave me hers.
"Thanks," I said before she took a big sip from my drink, no, from her drink.
"No problem, I just want to help you," she said finally. "I'll go over to Cassie and Phina for a moment, okay?" she said before going to the other girls.
I felt terribly abandoned. And I know it's childish, but it hurt that she didn't even ask if I wanted to come too.
I finished my lemonade and turned to the bar.
But then, I saw James' pale face.
And then, everyone around me fell silent.
I looked around, and all eyes were on me. Then I heard laughter around me and saw amused looks.
The laughter grew louder until everyone was laughing.
"Hey, are you sure you're not in Slytherin?" a boy asked with a smile before bursting into loud laughter.
I looked at my reflection in the glasses, which reflected my new neon green hair.
I slowly went to the restroom, until I eventually ran away. I swung the door to the restroom open and suddenly got drenched in water.
A bucket full of water had fell on me, from on the door and the laughter behind me grew louder.
I quickly closed the door behind me to muffle the laughter. I locked myself in the restroom and stared at my neon green hair, which hadn't lost any intensity despite the water.
Tears welled up in me as I looked at my ugly appearance, and I hoped seraph would come soon.
I waited.
And waited.
But she didn't come to check on me.
After a while that felt incredibly long, I heard footsteps going into one of the other restroom stalls. I tried to be as quiet as possible, suppressing my sobbing and breathing softly.
I heard the flush and footsteps going to the sink.
"Hey, do you need help?" The female voice was unfamiliar. At first, I thought she might be talking to someone else, but then she came to my stall.
"It's not as bad as you think, really. It actually looks pretty." she said.
"Yeah, sure. I have eyes, I know how bad it looks, you know?" I whispered back. I was very quiet, but she seemed to have heard me.
"I'm serious. Really."
There was silence. "Aren't you going to come out?" the girl asked.
"No." I whispered, and at the end, it turned into a sob.
"I'm Marlene. What's your name?"
She was kind to me, but I wasn't really in a condition to answer properly. As her footsteps moved away slightly, panic surged within me.
"I'm (y/n)." I finally said in a firmer voice.
"Okay, (y/n), you can always come to me and my friends if someone bothers you, okay?" Her voice turned serious, and it held a promise.
"Okay." I replied. "Thank you."
I could hear the smile in her voice. "Always happy to help."
Then she left.
~
I was alone for a long time. I had already given up hope that my friend would come and check on me, so I hid, hoping that eventually, there would be no one left outside.
But eventually, I heard voices approaching the restroom. They stood outside the girls' restroom door and seemed to be arguing. And then, I recognized them.
"Omg, I just don't understand you! Your best friend is in there, and you're out here laughing as if nothing happened!" Sirius scolded my friend.
Seraph just groaned annoyed. "And here I thought you were following me to apologize."
Sirius took a sharp breath. "Are you even listening to me? (Y/n) was just humiliated in front of everyone, why don't you go in and see her?"
Seraph's voice grew louder. "Just because something stupid happened to her, and she's hiding in the restroom, doesn't mean I should let it ruin my fun too. Fuck, if we hadn't swapped drinks on a whim, I'd have the green hair, right? I can be thankful for that; that would've been the worst!"
Tears welled up in me again.
Sirius' voice also grew louder. "Is it always just about you? Wait, I know it is, I've been with you long enough. You're one of the most selfish and narcissistic people I know! There's your reason why I don't want anything to do with you!"
Seraph laughed loudly in response. "Now I'm the bad one? Oh please, Sirius, don't make a fool of yourself! I think we both know why her hair is now this disgusting green. You and your friends wanted to dye my hair because you know how much I care about it!"
Her voice grew slightly softer. "Your actions have consequences, Sirius. You know you're to blame for her crying her eyes out in there."
Then it was silent. I heard my breath and my heart beating for a while. Than there was a loud clapping sound. It was sounding like a slap.
"Are you going to check on her now?" Sirius said much calmer than before. Seraph had slapped him.
"You know what, Sirius? Fuck you, seriously! Instead of apologizing to me for this prank, I'm now supposed to clean up your mess!" Seraph yelled at him.
"She has the green hair, not you. She's your friend; I don't think she wants to see me. Besides, it's the girls' restroom." Sirius said, almost accusatory.
"That's your problem. I don't have to cling to my friends all the time like a parasite; I'm allowed to have some fun too!" Then I heard her running away.
She didn't have fun with me? Was I just a clingy parasite to her?
I heard Sirius sigh. Then I heard his footsteps fading away, and I had never felt so alone.
I stayed in the girls' restroom for a long time. I was ashamed to come out. Eventually, when I couldn't hear anyone anymore, I sneaked away in the shadows of the darkness, heading to the Hufflepuff common room.
From there, I went to my shared room with other girls. They were already asleep; I must have spent quite a long time in the restroom. My eyes burned from all the tears that had been shed, and my hair seemed to glow in the darkness.
I tiptoed into my bed and pulled the blanket over my head to hide my hair. I was afraid to face the school. But now it was the weekend. I could continue hiding here for a while.
~~
"(y/n)? Are you there?" Lydia, one of my roommates, asked. She seemed nice, but since I was always with Seraph, we had never really talked. Until now.
"Yes?" I whispered back. I was afraid she might see my ugliness, afraid she would laugh at me too.
"Don't you want to have breakfast?" Her voice was gentle, with a hint of concern.
"No, I'm not really hungry," I replied, not moving an inch under my blanket.
"Okay, we'll go then."
"Mhm…" I hummed and waited until everyone had left. Then, I slowly got up and went to the small bathroom. I locked the door and looked in the mirror.
Unchanged.
If my tears hadn't run out from last night, I would have burst into tears again.
I washed my face and brushed my teeth. Then I stepped into the shower. I scrubbed and scrubbed my hair, but the color wouldn't fade away.
I spent a lot of time in the shower. At some point, I just let the water pour down on me, drowning my thoughts. My skin turned red, and I sank to the shower floor.
I was simply exhausted.
Eventually, I turned off the water and just sat there, too exhausted and scared to come out.
Knocking woke me from my slumber. I had fallen asleep on the floor.
"(y/n)? Are you in there?"
I tried to answer, but my voice wouldn't obey me. I layed helplessly on the floor, attempting to say something, but nothing came out.
"(y/n)? Hey, what's wrong?"
I tried to sit up, but I felt dizzy. I leaned against the wall and finally managed to say something. "Nothing, I'm fine."
There was a brief silence. "Have you eaten anything?"
"Yes," I lied, not wanting her to worry unnecessarily.
"But you weren't at dinner. Black asked about you," she said.
Dinner? How long had I been lying here on the floor? Sirius asked about me?
"I'll come out soon," I said, attempting to get up. But suddenly everything spun, and my stomach churned. I looked down at the sink, and before I realized what was happening, I vomited.
"OMG, ARE YOU VOMITING? DON'T SAY YOU'RE FINE!" Lydia suddenly shouted from outside. I vomited again, and in the end, my legs gave out. I collapsed under the sink, new tears streaming down my face.
"(Y/N), LET ME IN!" Lydia continued to scream. She was panicking.
"Don't worry. It's over," I whispered weakly. "I'm okay now, I just felt nauseous."
"Are you sure?" Lydia asked in a calmer but still concerned tone.
"Yes, I'll be out soon."
I waited until they were asleep, then I tiptoed to my bed in the darkness. Once again, I hid under my blanket, hoping I would never be seen again.
~~
When I woke up again, it was early. The others were still asleep. I didn't move and just waited to fall asleep again. I could hardly feel my legs, and my stomach churned.
Under the blanket, it was stifling, and after a while, breathing became painful. But I didn't want to uncover myself because then my hair would be visible.
I was scared. I could only hide today. Tomorrow, at the latest, I had to be there for the first class. The thought sent a cold shiver down my spine.
Would Seraph help me? No, actually, I didn't want to think about her. It would only remind me of her words in front of the bathroom. Just like Sirius and his friends.
Eventually, I gave up and sneaked into the bathroom. There was no trace of what happened yesterday. I washed my face and brushed my teeth again, looking into the mirror.
No matter how I looked at myself, the neon green hair always caught my eye. This color simply didn't suit me and didn't look good on me. Seraph would definitely rock it.
"I think we both know why her hair is now this disgusting green. You and your friends wanted to dye my hair because you know how much I care about it!"
But she wouldn't want to. And she doesn't have to.
I crept back into my bed and pulled the blanket over my head again. I had fresh oxygen now. Slowly but surely, I fell asleep again.
I was awakened by the movements of the others. They were getting ready for their weekend. I wished so much to be someone else and just enjoy my weekend. But with my hair, I wouldn't go anywhere.
"(y/n)? Are you still alive?" Maya asked ironically. I had never spoken to her, just like Lydia. "Yes, don't worry," I whispered back.
"Do you want to have breakfast with us today?" Maya asked. I had never had breakfast with them. We only saw each other in the room.
"Nice of you, but I'm not hungry." I felt sick and felt like a corpse.
"Hey, you didn't have breakfast yesterday either. Are you sure you don't want anything today?" Maya asked, and I answered with a soft yes.
She was silent for a while. But then she said in a new serious tone, "But you'll come with us tomorrow! And you will have breakfast, okay?"
I wanted to trust her, but I was so afraid that the same thing could happen as at the party. That they would all laugh at me. Still, I gave her my agreement and waited until they were out.
Then I slowly got out of my bed and got dressed. At first, I wanted to read, but the letters blurred before my eyes, and my head hurt terribly.
I locked myself in the bathroom again so that no one could see me when they came into our room. The others were nice, but I just didn't want anyone to see me.
I combed my hair, hoping that they would lose some color, but then I gave up. There was nothing to be done; my hair was green. I had to accept it.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. I became as quiet as possible, so no one would think someone was inside. The others weren't here, so the person would leave soon. It definitely wasn't Seraph.
"Whisky? Hey, I come in slowly, okay?"
Sirius. Of all the people here, Sirius was here to check on me.
He had done it. He and his friends. James, whom I trusted. Whom I worked with. Sirius, who wanted to defend me in front of Seraph, had humiliated me in front of everyone. And now he wanted to check on me? It had to be a bad joke.
"Are you in the bathroom? Am I disturbing?" he asked, sounding almost nervous.
"Yes." I just wanted him to go away.
He laughed nervously. "I'll wait here in the room for you, okay?"
NO, NO, NO! Anything but that!
"How did you even get in here?" I finally asked to get him to leave. But he answered quite normally and didn't seem to be ashamed of being in a girls' room.
"Your roommates gave me the password, and coming to the girls' sleeping quarters was no problem."
I fell silent and sat back down on the bathroom floor. If I stayed in here long enough, he would eventually leave and give up.
After a while of silence, he said something again. "Hey, is everything okay with you? What are you doing in there for so long?"
Since I had no answer to the second question, I just ignored it. "I'm fine," I said simply, hoping it would be enough.
He sighed. Apparently, it wasn't enough. "Whisky, I can understand that you don't want to see me, but I've been worried. You didn't even eat yesterday, and Lydia said you vomited."
"Don't call me that."
His voice changed from concerned to surprised. "What?"
"Don't call me Whisky!" I said louder. I couldn't stand hearing that nickname right now, especially from him.
There was silence for a while, but then Sirius laughed softly. "Okay, darling, if that's what you want. But actually, I'm here to bring you some food."
What?
"I'm not hungry," I said softly. I heard him sigh in response.
"Darling, you didn't eat yesterday; you have to eat something. Come out, please." His voice sounded almost pleading. Something in me weakened at that tone, and the anger towards him faded away.
But not the shame.
"You can leave it outside the door, and I'll eat it later," I said to make a compromise.
"But then I won't know if you really ate it!" he said now, desperation in his voice.
"I promise you I'll eat it," I said then. I could only hope that my word was enough for him.
"But I also wanted to check on you, see how you're doing," his voice became softer.
"I already said I'm fine."
Now his voice was so soft that I could barely hear it. "But I actually wanted to see you."
The anger from before suddenly rushed back, and I felt like some special animal at the zoo. "Sirius, if you came here to make fun of me, you can leave quickly," I said, my voice cold.
"No, I don't mean it that way. I didn't come to see your hair but to see you. Please, come out. Please!" Now he was really pleading.
I was afraid to meet his gaze, afraid that he had to hold back his laughter.
But something in me gave in, and my trembling legs moved towards the door. Slowly, I unlocked it. Then I waited for a moment to catch my breath before pressing down the door handle.
Sirius was sitting on my bed, looking down at the floor. I slowly walked towards him. Then I stopped and didn't know what to do next.
Then he looked up at me, meeting my eyes with that concern, but also with something I couldn't decipher. I had never seen such a look before.
"Come, darling, have something to eat," he whispered to me, pointing to the spot next to him, where he had brought some food.
I sat down slowly next to him, keeping a visible distance. Then I took the cutlery he had brought and tried to focus on the food. But it was difficult with Sirius Black sitting next to you, looking at you with that expression.
I took a bite and chewed. Then I swallowed, and for a moment, everything was fine. The next moment, I rushed to the bathroom and vomited.
"Damn it, darling, you look terrible! Why didn't you say anything? You need to go to the infirmary!" Sirius stood behind me, pulling my hair out of the way. He stroked my back and continued whispering to me. "Come on, I'll take you there."
Then everything went black.
~~
I saw white. The ceiling was white and seemed so far away. I wasn't in my bed. I was in the infirmary. Alone.
I slowly sat up, which demanded a lot of energy from me. I was separated from the others by a curtain around my bed, which relieved me.
But why was I here? What happened? What time was it?
I looked at the small nightstand next to me, where a little bouquet of flowers lay. There was a card attached to it.
'I don't know if you want to see me, but I hope you get better very soon! And take better care of yourself!
Sirius.'
The card was small but nice, and somehow it meant a lot to me.
Suddenly, the curtain was pulled aside, and Madam Pomfrey stood in front of me. She looked at me critically and shook her head. "Well, at least you're awake. But I've never seen anything like this! What were you thinking?"
"What?" I was confused. I didn't purposely faint; I couldn't control that.
"Well, not eating anything and drinking so little! Your circulation, especially your stomach, completely collapsed, which led to vomiting and fainting. Now your stomach is irritated, and you'll have to eat soup for a while." She placed some things on my nightstand, probably tablets.
"And I've never seen Sirius so panicked, and I see him here often. About every month to be exact, but this is different. Don't scare your boyfriend like that!"
I felt heat rising inside me and tried to suppress it. That was wrong; he was seraph's ex. But hadn't I already liked him before?
"I'm not his… I mean, he's not my-"
She furrowed her brow. "Not? He wouldn't leave your side and literally carried you in here. I thought you two were… well, maybe that will happen later. For now, you should focus on your health. You should've done that a long time ago!"
I only vaguely registered what she said. Sirius brought me here? Carried me here? THROUGH THE WHOLE CASTLE??
And I thought my hair would make me stand out, but now everything is ruined. I could already smell the rumors and suddenly had a terrible fear of leaving here. I used to never stand out next to seraph. But now? Now, I had attention, only the bad kind.
"What time is it?" I asked to distract myself.
"It's 6 PM on Monday. I'll bring you your dinner, and you'll eat it, young lady! You won't leave here until the day after tomorrow when your circulation is fully recovered." She said with a threatening tone. I nodded and started eating. I had slept for almost an entire day, and yet, I was still tired.
Somehow, I managed to finish the soup and almost immediately fell asleep again.
~~
I woke up to footsteps. Steps coming towards my bed. I became more nervous as they got closer. Then the curtains were pulled aside, and Seraph stood in front of me.
When her gaze met mine, she frowned. Her eyes fell on my hair, and I felt terribly small. Then she looked into my eyes. Her gaze was cold. No smile, no encouragement.
"Well, well, our little attention seeker is here." She spat the words out and looked at me as if I had committed the greatest crime.
"What do you mean?" I asked, even though I knew it would make her angry. But I couldn't apologize for something I didn't know.
Her eyes narrowed dangerously. "Oh, please, all this playing the victim is disgusting. All for the attention of a boy! And my ex, no less! You're truly a snake!"
"What are you talking about?"
"Don't pretend to be innocent! You're a little parasite who always clings to others and seeks their attention! I'm sick of you! And you wonder why I didn't tell you about the party? Simply because I'm ashamed of you! I hate being seen with you, and yet I put up with it! And how do you thank me? You try to go after my boyfriend! I don't regret giving you that potion! At least with that hair, there's something special about you, apart from your best friend!"
Every word stabbed my heart and tore it apart a little more. Every word seemed to drive her further into a rage. "You purposely gave me the potion drink? You knew about the prank?" I whispered with tears in my eyes.
"Well…" She laughed briefly. "It wasn't hard to figure out that something was in the drink. And I thought, why not let you try it. Don't worry; you weren't a bigger laughingstock than usual."
"I don't know what's gotten into you, but I never tried to take Sirius away from you or whatever you think!" I couldn't believe what was happening here.
"Oh, don't worry, I know you wouldn't have a chance with him anyway. He's only with you because he feels guilty and wants to annoy me. But we both know he's not interested in you." She mocked me.
"What's your problem?" I finally asked. "What have I done to you?"
She stomped aggressively. Then she looked into my eyes and came to my bed. Before she could say anything, her gaze fell on the flowers. I wanted to put them away, but she already grabbed the card.
"You've always attached yourself to me and hoped to get something from me. You waited until you could steal everything from me!" And then she ran away.
I stared after her and cried. I cried for a long time. Even though I knew none of the things she said were true, a part of me believed her. I had always been with her; maybe I really was too much. Perhaps I deserved all of this. Maybe I really was a snake.
"Love?"
Sirius.
I tried to wipe away my tears as quickly as possible and compose myself.
"I heard you woke up yesterday. Couldn't you have done that when I was here? I waited here yesterday until evening."
He was at my bedside now. "You really scared me."
He sat on the chair next to my nightstand, right beside me. I looked away so he wouldn't see my tear-streaked face.
"You waited for me to wake up?" It didn't feel right, not after the conversation with Seraph.
"Yes, of course. I was worried." Then there was silence. Seraph hadn't been worried. Seraph didn't even ask if I was feeling better.
"Wouldn't you have wanted me here when you woke up?" he asked, his voice suddenly vulnerable.
"What? Of course, I would have wanted you here?!" I said nervously.
He chuckled softly. "Are you saying you want me here with you?" His voice was playful.
I blushed. "What do you want from me?" I asked. I didn't know how to handle Sirius. I just didn't know what he wanted from me.
"Just the truth, darling, just the truth. Now tell me," he turned my face to him so he could look at me. "why were you crying?"
His hand remained on my cheek. "It's stupid." I whispered, trying to change the subject. But he shook his head. "It's not stupid if it made you cry. Please be honest with me, love. What hurt you so much?"
I had to look away to avoid his gaze. "Seraph was just here. She said some things, and I" I didn't know why I was telling him this; I barely knew him. But there was something about Sirius that made me open up to him.
"What kind of crap did she spew this time?" Sirius's voice became tense and almost aggressive.
I looked into his eyes. Despite his tone, they were warm, soft, and kind. Yet, because of him, I had these hair now. Because of him, I was humiliated in front of everyone. Seraph's words echoed in my head. What if he was only here to make her angry?
"It's nothing important. But she doesn't want anything to do with me anymore." I said finally, looking away.
"She doesn't want anything to do with you? She should be grateful you put up with her for so long!" He said, annoyed. "Probably because of me, right? Because I brought you here yesterday?"
I couldn't look him in the eyes. "She thinks that…" I couldn't say it, but I didn't have to.
"I know what she thought."
We sat there in silence, and I felt terrible. What was I without Seraph? She had always been my friend, always decided what I should do.
But part of me was angry. Angry that she was playing with me like this. Angry that I could let myself be so influenced by her.
"Would it bother you?" Sirius suddenly asked.
"What?" I asked back.
He looked into my eyes. "If she thought we were together?"
My heart started racing, and I tried to look away, but I couldn't. His eyes seemed to hypnotize me.
"If the whole school thought there was something between us, would you be ashamed?" he continued.
"I don't know-" I was speechless; how could I answer that?
He laughed softly. "Do you not want to make Seraph really angry?"
Not really. But when I realized what he was talking about, my heart
continued to weaken.
"We can give her ego a little blow," he said with that irresistible Sirius Black smile.
"Sirius, I don't know…"
"Besides, it would take the focus off the prank, you know?" he said softly. His enthusiasm suddenly wavered. "And if it's too much for you, we can always stop! Let's just pretend to be together for 1-2 months or something."
1-2 months with him? Actually, I wanted to spend more time with him, get to know him. But doing this would only make Seraph angry. Seraph would think she was right.
In a moment of weakness, I nodded. "Okay."
He smiled at me. "Then starting tomorrow, we'll be a couple, darling."
