Steve Rogers and His Unhealthy Obsession with Bucky Barnes

Steve Rogers was many things.

Captain America. A national hero. A good friend.

But above all else—

Steve Rogers was a wife guy.

Except he wasn’t even married.

To be clear—Bucky wasn’t his husband.

They were just two idiots in love who refused to admit it and instead chose to ruin the lives of everyone around them.

And Bucky, despite all his grumbling and dramatic sighing, secretly loved every second of it.

INCIDENT #1: STEVE, A MENACE TO SOCIETY

The first time Sam realized how deeply Steve had committed to his role as Bucky’s personal hype man, they were all in the common room when Steve casually turned to Natasha and said:

“You know, Buck can kill someone in six different ways with a spoon.”

Bucky, mid-sip of coffee, nearly choked. “Steve—”

“And he never misses with a knife.” Steve beamed proudly. “Seriously, Nat, you’d be impressed. One time in the ‘40s—”

Natasha raised a brow. “Does he cook?”

Steve nodded. “Oh, yeah, and he’s really good at it. You should try his stew—”

“That’s not what I meant,” Natasha cut in.

Sam snorted. “Yeah, does he do anything that doesn’t involve stabbing?”

Steve turned to Bucky. “Do you?”

Bucky sighed into his coffee. “I breathe, Steve.”

“And beautifully, too.”

Bucky muttered a curse under his breath.

Steve, still smiling dreamily, added, “And he’s great at woodworking.”

Natasha leaned back. “Are you gonna tell us about how incredible his battle tactics are next?”

Steve gasped. “Oh my God, YES.”

Bucky groaned. “Oh my God, NO.”

INCIDENT #2: STEVE WILL THROW HANDS

It was a casual mission. A simple extraction.

Then some random HYDRA goon had the audacity to say, “The Winter Soldier? Wasn’t he just a brainwashed puppet?”

And Steve, who normally gave his speeches about “being the bigger man”, just decked the guy so hard he left a dent in the wall.

The whole room froze.

Bucky blinked. “Steve?”

Steve turned to him. “Yeah?”

Bucky pointed at the unconscious guy. “Did you just—”

Steve shrugged. “Yeah.”

Sam, who had witnessed everything, crossed his arms. “So, what, you just throw hands now?”

Steve nodded confidently. “If it’s for Bucky, absolutely.”

Natasha muttered, “This is embarrassing.”

Bucky, secretly pleased but refusing to show it, just sighed and said, “Steve, I literally do not care.”

Steve smiled. “I care enough for both of us.”

Bucky buried his face in his hands.

INCIDENT #3: STEVE CASUALLY DROPS GAY MARRIAGE INTO CONVERSATION FOR NO REASON

Bucky was minding his own business, sharpening his knife, when Steve just… said it.

“Hey, did you know gay marriage is legal in this century?”

Bucky froze mid-sharpening.

Slowly, he turned to Steve. “…And?”

Steve shrugged. “Just thought you should know.”

Bucky squinted. “…Why?”

Steve cleared his throat. “No reason.”

Bucky just stared at him. “Did you wake up today and decide, ‘Gee, I wonder if Bucky Barnes is up to date on modern marriage laws’?”

Steve looked suspiciously innocent. “I just thought it was interesting.”

Bucky leaned back, arms crossed. “Uh-huh. And this has nothing to do with you calling me your ‘murder husband’ to everyone we meet?”

Steve coughed. “Completely unrelated.”

Bucky didn’t blink. “Steve.”

Steve nodded. “Bucky.”

A long pause.

Then Bucky sighed. “Get out of my room.”

INCIDENT #4: “IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO BUCKY, I’M SUING”

During a mission briefing, Tony was explaining the team formations, and Steve—who was normally all about discipline—immediately interrupted.

“Wait, wait, wait. Where’s Bucky in this plan?”

Tony sighed. “Steve, he’s fine. He can handle himself.”

Steve crossed his arms. “That’s not what I asked.”

Tony rubbed his temples. “Steve—”

“Where. Is. Bucky?”

Everyone turned to look at Bucky, who was just sitting there, eating a protein bar.

He waved awkwardly. “Hi.”

Tony pinched the bridge of his nose. “He’s on his mission, Cap. You’re not even in the same sector.”

Steve scowled. “Then I object.”

Tony stared. “This isn’t a wedding.”

Steve pointed at Bucky. “Then put me with him.”

“For what reason?”

Steve, without hesitation: “Moral support.”

Bucky groaned. “Jesus Christ, Steve.”

Tony closed his laptop. “I’m done.”

Sam sighed, rubbing his face. “You two are so much.”

Steve turned to Bucky, softly. “You’ll be okay, though, right?”

Bucky muttered something under his breath but nodded.

Steve smiled, content.

Sam whispered, “I swear to God, someone needs to get Steve laid.”

Bucky, mid-bite of his protein bar, choked.

INCIDENT #5: “WOW. GROUNDBREAKING.”

Steve was pacing.

And not just regular pacing—he was pacing like a father-to-be in a hospital waiting room, hands on his hips, looking like he was about to deliver the most serious speech of his life.

Bucky, lounging on the couch, beer in hand, just watched him with the energy of a man witnessing a trainwreck in slow motion.

Steve stopped pacing. Took a deep breath. Turned to Bucky with determined blue eyes.

“I have feelings for you.”

Silence.

A long, obnoxiously long silence.

Bucky just blinked.

Then, in the flattest, most sarcastic tone possible, he said:

“Wow. Groundbreaking.”

Steve frowned. “Wait—what?”

Bucky took a slow sip of his beer. “You don’t say, Steve.”

Steve squinted. “Are you being sarcastic?”

Bucky set the beer down. “Me? Sarcastic? No, Stevie, I am just so shocked right now. Truly, this is the most unexpected thing I’ve ever heard.”

Steve sighed deeply. “Bucky—”

Bucky gestured wildly. “I mean, sure, you look at me like I’m the last donut in a police station, and yeah, you literally threw hands with a guy for talking shit about me, and maybe you once told Tony that if anything happens to me you’d ‘file a formal complaint with the universe’—”

Steve groaned. “It was a joke.”

Bucky pointed at him. “No, it was a declaration.”

Sam, passing by with a sandwich, paused mid-bite. “Wait, he said that?”

Bucky nodded. “Oh, he said that.”

Sam whistled. “That’s crazy.”

Steve pinched the bridge of his nose. “I regret saying anything.”

Bucky smirked. “Oh, no, don’t regret it now, sweetheart. You’ve been in love with me since the Roosevelt administration.”

Steve glared. “I hate you.”

Bucky patted his knee, grinning. “You love me.”

Sam shook his head, muttering, “I need new friends,” before walking away.

I cannot stop thinking about Captain America: Civil War because I think the storyline/plot is so well done, I cannot stop noticing little details but something about the final fight scene between Steve, Tony and Bucky is scratching my brain.

The whole premise of Civil War is that Steve and Tony have disagreed big time and have basically evoked a family divorce between the Avengers but something that contributes to the disagreement — which in my opinion both sides have very good reasons to be mad — is that Tony never really saw Steve as Steve Rogers he can only see him as Captain America.

We know that after going into the ice Howard would sing Captain America’s praises for the whole of Tony’s childhood which right from the start has created tension between them because Howard knew Captain America, we see glimpses of this in Avengers when he says to Steve, “you’re a laboratory experiment Rogers, everything special about you came out of a bottle”.

And obviously people knew Steve Rogers. He made friends with Sam Wilson and grew close with the other Avengers but none of them knew Steve pre-serum — not personally anyway — except Bucky. Bucky is the only one who knew Steve when he was still a skinny little kid from Brooklyn, before the war, before the serum, they grew up together. Peggy did also know pre-serum Steve but well she did die at the start of the film so it makes sense that Steve would be feeling extra protective of the one person who knows Steve Rogers.

So yes it was not a very good move for Steve to keep what he knew about Howard and Marias death from Tony but when Steve is trying to reason with Tony stating that Bucky is his friend and that’s why he can’t stop fighting or protecting him and Tony counters with “so was I” it is not comparable because Tony Stark since meeting him in person has only ever truly became friends with Captain America.

Steve was willing to give up the mantle of Captain America by dropping that shield and leaving it behind in the Siberia base if it meant saving the one person who has known and stuck with Steve for all his life because Staves dark side is entirely made up of Bucky Barnes and Tony who once said “I don’t trust anyone without a dark side” has finally seen it.

Do you guys think Regulus was ever playfully teasing James but then actually struck a nerve and so James just kind of sat there smiling awkwardly and Regulus was like. Uhm. Fuck.

And that’s how he started to realize that James wasn’t just some cocky pretty boy, and it was humanizing moments like that which took Regulus’s feelings towards James from a crush to actual love

Captain “I don’t want to go” Nash

I’m not entirely sure if this’ll make sense but i can’t handle the angst brought on from Tik Tok edits because they are breaking my heart.

These last two episodes of 9-1-1 have truly been masterpieces. These last two episodes have made me feel things I haven’t felt since the tsunami arc and there are so many layers that I have been unable to stop thinking about it in between my cries of grief.

Bobby Nash has been a character I have been fond of since I first started the series possibly 5ish years ago and he has only grown on me since, his backstory and how he ended up in LA, his relationship with Athena where they both get second chances to heal, the mentor role he fulfils as captain at the 118 ad don’t even get me started on his father/son relationship with Buck.

It is the fact that basically from the start of the quarantine and Chimney started to get sick, he knew that his time was limited he used all the power he had to make sure that his team — his family — got out of this situation safely and in his last moments told Buck to remember to stand by the team because they will all need him which is now dubbed in my head as the thing that sets Buck into crash out mode which we all know has been coming — I’m not even gonna think about the phone call to Eddie which is going to be happening.

His last moments with Athena have to be some of the most heartbreaking scenes of television I’ve seen in a while, they both met when they were at low points in their lives. Athena just coming out of a divorce and feeling like she should hide away and Bobby coming to LA after a tragic accident that has forced him to start over and hope that for every life he saves on the job he can somehow repay the damage he has done to others.

This man has accepted death after so long feeling undeserving of the life he is living accepts death — praying might I add — and leaves behind the people who have brought back a part of Bobby Nash’s soul that had been lost even if he doesn’t want to but Bobby would sacrifice the little piece of redemption he has gained over the last few years as long as his team is safe and his character will forever be someone I can appreciate.

Can we talk about Theo being able to calm Liam down because he's the only one who treats him like a fucking human being? Like, in all the scenes where Liam's losing it, no one tries to talk to him/distract him but everyone just looks at him or says "calm down, calm down, calm down". They all treat him like he's some kind of mad dog. And then Theo shows up and is like "you shouldn't kill him" and Liam is like "why?" and Theo is like "because we're going to need a fucking chainsaw, obviously". Theo is the first one to realize that his wolf only reacts to how his human is feeling and as a result tries to distract the human instead of stopping the wolf. Theo who is "barely even human" is the only one who recognizes Liam's humanity even when he's a "monster" and I want to fucking kill myself.

Okay but in my head both Jake and Bradley have physical touch as a love language but in different ways.

Bradley will unabashedly pull Jake into his arms after a hop if he so feels like it without a care in the world about whose eyes are watching. He loves being in Jake’s space wether that be sitting down and inch to close to him to that their shoulders brush or even dragging him over to the piano so that he doesn’t have to be sitting by himself.

Jake is more of reserved I think. Yes he has no problem being dragged around by Bradley whenever he wants, but I feel like after so many years of curating his ‘hangman’ persona around other people he would be as quick to initiate contact. He doesn’t want to come across as soft by showing affection to his boyfriend so he keeps his affection private, hugging Bradley from behind whenever he’s cooking breakfast for them both or playing with Bradley’s hair when they watch a movie.

thinking about Jake and Bradley just — hands in the back of each others pockets. arm slung around the other’s shoulder. Bradley passing by and shifting Jake by the waist. Shoulders touching whenever they’re sitting in a booth with their friends. Knees pressed against each other.

Jake untangling Bradley’s tags when they get a bit messed up. Bradley’s cold nose poking into Jake’s cheek when he comes in from picking up the mail. Bradley wiping a bit of shaving cream off of Jake’s chin that he missed.

They’re not hand holding people — except for when they’re driving for a long while and Jake reaches over to grab Bradley’s for a bit — but thinking about all the other tactile moments between them.

I feel like school and a lot of the students - maybe the ones who are more aware of regulus and James’ personalities or are in the same year as either of them - question how James got regulus to fall in love with him. To them the pairing doesn’t make sense.

The Gryffindors are worried that regulus has lured James into a trap and that he’s being meanly seduced Becuase Regulus to the other students is disconnected and sarcastic to no end and is often very insulting, all of them has witnessed him Potter himself on multiple occasions so they wonder how Regulus has attracted someone like James Becuase they don’t believe that he’s capable of being romantic.

The Slytherins share disbelieving looks and questioning glances Becuase all of them have born witness to some of the chaotic, ridiculous and often times bizarre things that James does on a daily basis and they question why someone will willingly attempt to keep up with the whirlwind that is James Potter.

Remus Lupin and Pandora Rosier just roll their eyes whenever the topic comes up Becuase they know the whole school hasn’t had to put up with the obscene amount of pining and admiration that goes on between the couple and are just relieved that they finally bucked up the courage to actually go out with each other Becuase James and Regulus are obsessed with each other.

Seeing Regulus Black, a proud Slytherin, wearing James Potters quidditch jersey at a match against Ravenclaw causes the majority of the school to stop and stare because how did the heir of the house of black manage to get the golden boy to fall for him

Taylor Swifts ‘Debut’ was released on the 24th of October in 2006, currently it is one of the two final albums in Swifts discography to be re-recorded as ( Taylors Version ).

The album reflects a young Taylor’s life at the time and is filled with unrequited love in a small town and the frustration of failed relationships from songs like ‘Picture to Burn’ and ‘Should’ve Said No’.

The album also talks about the insecurities which come with growing up not quite fitting in with the crowd, and the longing that comes with that to be noticed and not compared to anyone else along with knowing when to cut your losses and move on.

Compared to the recent albums that Taylor has produced ‘Debut has a wide eyed innocence about it. She is hopeful for the future and in my head the people who love this album are defiantly easy-going but you can often get lost in the background, feeling invisible and uncomfortable in their own skin because they have big dreams for what they want to do and accomplish and because of that they can feel isolated from other people, especially as growing up you find your like and dislikes and feel disconnected from the small town you’ve been confines to all your life.

My Review — “Me personally debut is not my favourite and is low ranking in the grand scheme of things, I do however fall into the popular song trap because ‘Should’ve Said No’ and ‘Our Song’ are non skips they are so wonderfully angry I love it.”

regulus is the clingiest while sleepy.

james is usually titled as the clingest boyfriend in the relationship, trapping reg in his arms at every opportunity he gets - which never fails to turn reg’s grumpy look into a playful eye roll paired with the tiniest shy smile. but, when regulus is sleepy, that’s a whole other story. his favorite activity is laying on the couch with james, his whole body on top of him in a mess of limbs. he’ll curl up like a kitten, simply existing while james watches some muggle comedy movie - occasionally letting out what regulus calls “obnoxiously loud” giggles. reg’s nose is buried in his boyfriends neck, which he takes advantage of when he feels extra cheeky by nibbling on it to get james’ attention when he’s too locked in on his movie and not paying attention to his gorgeous sweet baby. he will absolutely whine like a toddler if the other moves too much or tries to get up to get snack, his fingers gripping james’ sweater with a dead grip. all this just to turn bright red when prongs mumbles sweet things about him reminding him of a clingy kitten, followed by a sloppy kiss to reg’s forehead as to reassure him that he really loves his snuggly version.

i feel like we as a fandom do not talk enough about that scene in just lovers where sirius is showing Regulus the map but hasn't told him what it is and padfoot is just roasting him, wormtail is asking where he got it, moony tells him to return it to sirius, and then prongs is like 'mr prongs would like to add that although he is not the brightest star, he still outshines everyone here on earth' and sirius is just so confused

I know I say that canon Regulus wasn’t as evil as people make him out to be (and I stand by that) but honestly, at this point, whatever any version of Regulus does, I cannot bring myself to hate him or get mad at him. Even while I’m reading some fics, I’ll know objectively he’s in the wrong but … it’s Regulus. I support his rights and wrongs please don’t come at me !!

So, I’ve just rewatched Wicked yet again and I need it to be said that Fiyero is the most James Potter-coded character ever it’s hilarious because I could see him trying to flirt with Madame Pince trying to get out of trouble for standing and throwing books — which is only forgivable because it’s Jonathan Bailey.

Not only that but Elphaba tells him that he’s not as shallow and self-absorbed as he makes other people think and I feel like that is how fanfic often portrays James a lot, to other people he’s the rowdy and often time disruptive one but with his friends he’s such a charming mother hen.

And if you were to take away all the love triangle elements and only look at the characters, Lily Evan’s is Elphaba and Regulus Black is Glinda and I love it.

Lily knows what it is like to be discriminated against for something she physically cannot change and has to accept the fact that that characteristic is all people will see when they meet her ie being a muggle-born.

Meanwhile, Regulus I feel just has the Glinda vibe about him, maybe it’s because he grew up in a wealthy household or something else - I may need another rewatch to nail down the specifics - but Regulus has the manipulative prowess that Glinda is seen on multiple occasions to possess.

I have realised that Florence + The Machine and Jayvik make me feel the exact same feelings, they pair so well together. Both have the same chaotic, ethereal vibes to them that whenever an edit with them both come up I have to stop and give it the appreciation it deserves.

I’m obsessed with Arcane x Cosmic Love TikToks.

I also think that if Dog Days are Over played during Caitlyn’s speech at the end of season 2 then it would have the exact same vibes of the finale to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
