MUSLIM AID PROVIDING ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FOR WOMEN
The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, "Your Heaven lies under the feet of your mother" (Ahmad, Nasai) In light of ‪#‎InternationalWomensDay‬ and ‪#‎MothersDay‬ this month, we look at how Muslim Aid are providing economic development for women At Muslim Aid, we have always maintained that one of the best forms of aid is to provide self-dependency. This can be achieved in many ways. Education is one; learning tradecraft is another. After 20 years of active charity work in over 70 countries, we can safely say that making people self-reliant, and self-dependent is one of the best things you can do for them. In fact, doing so is not only a good thing; in many cases, it is a dire necessity to sustain life in certain regions, especially amongst women. We approach each aid campaign with the undying hope to make communities stand on their feet and enable them to start earning for themselves. In today’s post, we will talk about how Muslim Aid contributes to economic empowerment and development of women in some of the world’s most affected regions. The idea is to offer a glimpse of the work we do. There is more to aid than food rations and warm blankets. We touch people’s lives on a much deeper level, enabling them to value it and make the most of it. Micro-finance We come across many different people who are struggling to make ends meet, including mothers, wives and widows. Many are fully aware of their situation and know what must be done in order to make things better. What they lack are the finances to makes changes in their life. Muslim Aid provides struggling people with interest free loans. These loans are also collateral free, and their primary purpose is to pace the way for their stable future. The loan recipients in turn can open a small business or buy certain tools they need to take up new job opportunities or work for themselves. Whether they need a sewing machine to start making a living as a tailor, or a few agriculture tools to become a gardener, the micro-finance loan from Muslim Aid gets them started on the path to success. Training and Tradecraft For some communities, it is a matter of teaching them the tools of the trade. Providing economic support goes beyond financial donations. In many cases, we train the locals with some easy to adopt skills that they can take up as professions. This includes providing women training in agriculture, poultry, handicrafts, garment product, dairy production, and even small business management. These are opportunities that are there for the taking. We provide women with the training and the confidence so that they can take up such jobs and start changing their lives. What We Have Done So Far Muslim Aid has worked very hard in promoting economic empowerment and prosperity among developing nations. We certainly have the numbers to show for it. Over 71,000 people including thousands of women have benefited from Muslim Aid’s micro-finance programme in Asia. These people belong to different countries, ranging from Bangladesh and Pakistan to Somalia and Cambodia. More than £5.5m has been invested in income generation strategies in these regions. We will continue to bring change in people’s lives and provide them with the tools they need to rebuild their life and with it, a bright future. Become a part of this change. Participate in Muslim Aid campaigns today. www.muslimaid.org

WHY EDUCATION IS SO IMPORTANT FOR REFUGEE CHILDREN
Children always have it worst when it comes disasters, be it natural or man-made. Take the four year long Syria Crisis, for example. According to UNICEF USA, almost six and a half million Syrian children have been affected by the conflict that has left scores of people dead, and many more displaced from their homes. Almost three million people are no longer in school, and one million are living as refugees in neighboring countries. It’s statistics like these that prompted Muslim Aid to conduct a massive relief aid campaign in the region. Our child sponsorship program has been able to provide shelter for these children with clothes to keep them warm, and books to keep them hopeful. Why Education is so Important for Refugee Children Hope is a very strong human emotion that ultimately leads people to do great things. In such dreadful times, it must be ensured that these children do not lose hope of a better tomorrow, and the best way to do that is through education. In today’s post, we will highlight why it is so important that these children should be given sufficient opportunities to learn and get an education. We will also talk about why this is the best form of aid for them. Education is the Key to Being Truly Independent A book is the key to being truly free and independent. An education will provide children with the tools they need to succeed in life. It will also teach them good values that they can not only adopt, but also preach to others when they get on their feet. Uneducated children have no skill set. They end up living the refugee life forever. Books provide them with an alternate solution to do something with their life and make themselves matter. Don’t Become Part of the Statistic We mentioned earlier how almost three million children have no access to schools. These innocent lives are at risk of being lost forever if they are not given proper care. An educated mind looks for a solution and makes one. An uneducated mind will only take what is offered and accept it. Children who don’t get educated or trained with tradecraft, mainly stay refugee for the rest of their life; therefore becoming nothing more than a statistic. An education will ensure that doesn’t happen. In fact, it can have a positive impact and curb it down. Opportunity to Become Leaders of their Community So many children who received child sponsorship have gone on to become leaders in their communities. They have witnessed the brutalities of war, hunger, and poverty first hand; yet they emerged successfully. They have shared their story with others and helped them do the same. These children will flourish to become successful men and women who in turn will do their part in promoting good education and healthy living. Child sponsorship goes farther than any aid packet. A food ration will enable a child to see tomorrow. An education, on the other hand, will pave the way for the next ten years. Make a donation to Muslim Aid’s relief aid campaign today!

HOW MUSLIM AID TV IS HELPING IN RELIEF AID WORK
Technology has been instrumental in improving lives and lifestyles. The internet, for example, has been particularly crucial in doing so over the last few decades. It has revolutionised industries, created new disciplines and niches and even refined and redefined certain processes completely. New tools and technologies have led to innovations and concepts. YouTube, once regarded as a seasonal trend and harmless luxury, is now a vital form of communication today. It is an indispensable tool used to interact, inspire, exchange ideas and talk about important events. Muslim Aid has been using YouTube as a means of communication and interaction with our supporters and donors. We have utilised this indispensable tool to improve our relief aid processes and charity work. Our Channel on YouTube, known as MuslimAidUK, currently has over 700 subscribers and is growing fast. Muslim Aid uses this YouTube channel for a multitude of purposes; all geared towards creating a better tomorrow for the thousands of people who are in need of help. Here is how Muslim Aid is making a change. Creating Awareness Since the majority of our work revolves around relief aid campaigns and charity work, campaign awareness is a vital part of our business model. People need to be informed of campaign progress and videos are a great way to do just that. In addition to current campaigns, we also talk about other potential relief aid regions where the situation requires immediate attention. Any sudden or unforeseeable events like natural disasters that take their toll on human life must be discussed, and the needs of the people affected by it should be addressed. A good example of that is the floods in Pakistan and the Typhoon in the Philippines that left hundreds of thousands of people homeless. Running Telethons Campaigns like Syria Relief Aid and Gaza Emergency Appeal are a year-round project. Unexpected disasters like the ones mentioned above need aid as fast as possible. Digital Media and Television is an ideal way to provide funding for such campaigns. We host telethons on TV; where we collect pledges from callers, and we also put it on YouTube so the online community can get involved. Interacting with People www.muslimaid.org believes in carrying out relief aid work both internationally as well as locally. Our Warm Hearts Campaign is featured on our YouTube page. Campaigns like this allow us to interact with our friends, donors and supporters online as well as interact with struggling communities in the United Kingdom. We have a large number of international sponsors and supporters as well and our Video Channel serves as a great place for them to catch up on what we are doing and even share their own thoughts about relief aid. We urge our viewers to check out Muslim Aid’s YouTube channel. Subscribe to it too. You will learn about the latest developments and the challenges people in different parts of the world are facing. You will also get the opportunity to volunteer and get involved in some local events that Muslim Aid hosts all year long such as seminars, fundraisers, and community gatherings. Get involved with the Muslim Aid family and do your part in changing people’s lives.
