I’m very tired. you probably heard that Russia destroyed the Kakhovka Dam to slow Ukraine’s counter offensive. here’s something I didn’t quite realize: since this February, the Russians operated the dam in juuuuust the right way so that as much water would build up as possible when the snow melted and spring showers started. and then they blew the whole thing up.
40,000 people may need to be evacuated. I don’t really have the energy to say anything else right now.
Hospitallers Medical Battalion: actual angels can confirm. they’re combat-zone medical services - you know how humanitarian groups like MFS and Red Cross have to pause operations due to the Russians fucking shooting at humanitarian zones? yeah, these guys don’t pause for bullets, they fucking walk into them and they bring out anyone they can.
Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation: you can choose from a number of various fundraiser projects here, if you’re feeling particularly picky. for those of you who balk at the idea of supporting anything military just please remember that things like vehicles and drones aren’t just for military use, they’re also for evacuation and finding the wounded and they’re fucking vital.
KSE Foundation: similar to the above, KSE has multiple projects you can choose from to donate to. looking at it right now, one of the projects with the lowest amounts of money raised thus far - despite being started in April - is Seeds for Ukraine, which will help Ukraine recover from the ecological devastation Russia has been wreaking (and with Ukraine, the countries that rely on Ukraine’s grain exports that Russia keeps trying to steal).
Come Back Alive: do these guys even need the introduction? they’re Come Back Alive. I’m kissing all of them.
United24: Zelenskyy’s brain child, and the official fundraising platform of Ukraine. Mark Hamill recommends the fundraisers for drones in particular.
UAnimals: Nova Kakhovka’s zoo got... pretty much completely swept away. all zoo residents except the birds have drowned. UAnimals has tried throughout the occupation to keep the animals safe, and they’ve been reporting on the status of the zoo. I don’t really know what to say except that I hope they’re able to save the pets and strays in the towns along the river.
You can find NGOs specific to evacuation efforts in this post; please signal boost it as well. I’ve listed them but am leaving the links for the op post.

Please consider donating to my friend’s gofundme, or at least sharing the link. Her grandparents, aunty, uncle and their two 3-year-old children are stuck in Port Sudan, they are facing death or worse and need urgent help to flee. I know everyone is worn out from all the horrific crimes being committed around the world right now but please, this is really important.

TikTok watermelon filter raises funds for Gaza humanitarian relief
Social media has proven to be an effective  platform for fundraising over the years. In the wake of the Oct. 7 Hamas attack, this capability has taken center stage on platforms such as TikTok. Within a concise two-minute timeframe, users have harnessed the power of TikTok to generate support for Gaza. Notably, on Nov. 6, augmented reality (AR) creator Jourdan Johnson introduced the ‘filter for…

If you're like me and have felt powerless to help in the last several weeks, please consider supporting World Central Kitchen. These brave folks are on the ground supplying food and clean water to those caught in the middle of all this horrible violence.
Here's a quick link to their Middle East relief donation page.

Samaritan’s Purse helps so many people every year and every year they make it their mission to bring the love of Christ to those suffering in hard situations. They’ve been helping Ukrainians with humanitarian relief by partnering with local Churches. They’ve been helping Turkish Citizens after the deadly Earthquake that recently happened. And of course, they’ve been helping Children in poverty stricken areas that can’t provide a future by bringing Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes to the right child at the right time.
I’m sharing this with everyone today to encourage people to help out in their mission to provide help, hope, and most importantly the love of Christ to these people who’re suffering.
Some areas I want to highlight that you can help out with that’re domestically based are:
Alaska Projects: Samaritan’s Purse staff and ministry partners aim to bring practical help and the Good News of Jesus Christ to native peoples in Alaska and the surrounding region.
U.S. Disaster Relief: Samaritan's Purse mobilizes and equips thousands of volunteers each year to provide emergency aid to U.S. victims of wildfires, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. In the aftermath of major storms, we often stay behind to rebuild houses for people with nowhere else to turn for help.
Hurricane Relief: Samaritan's Purse responds to the urgent needs of families devastated by the wind, rain, and storm surge of catastrophic hurricanes. Whether in the United States or abroad, we come alongside hurting people to bring emergency relief and practical help in the Name of Jesus Christ.
Some areas I want to highlight that’re more internationally based that you can help support are:
Bibles and Christian Literature:  For just $10, we can provide five New Testaments, three Bibles, or other Gospel materials to suffering people who long to learn more about the One True God who loves them.
Middle East Evangelism: Samaritan’s Purse supports relief and evangelism projects that build up the ministry of local churches and mission groups in Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, and surrounding nations.
Vocational Training: Learning a skill such as sewing, cooking, construction, auto mechanics, or some other trade can be life-changing, allowing vulnerable people ensnared in chronic poverty or at risk of exploitation to earn an income that can give them a new start at life.
Milk: A cup of milk is a delicious source of essential vitamins, protein, and calcium, which are vital to poor children fighting malnutrition. Sadly, milk is hard to come by for children living in poverty. That’s why Samaritan’s Purse provides milk and other nutritious items to many schools, orphanages, and hospitals in impoverished countries. Your $4 gift can provide nutrition for a week.

speaking of Haiti,
uuuhhh yall know that the situation is really, really bad there, right? like “the government is holed up in a handful of buildings because gangs control the capital and the country is about to be a failed state” bad. it’s “the Haitian government asked for other countries to literally invade it and restore order” bad. uuuhhhh here are some charities you can donate to.
Doctors Without Borders: you know who these people are and I say that with immense affection in my heart.
Hope for Haiti (!!!!!!) okay Charity Navigator gives these guys a full 100% what the fuck. I knew they were good but holy fuck they’ve been one of the top ten since 2010. they focus on supporting education, healthcare especially for women, clean water, and providing Haitians with grants and loans.
Haitian Health Foundation focuses on, uh, health. they have clinics and also make home visits for patients unable to travel, and they provide emergency transport and mobile health clinics as well. they do vaccinations, food, dental care and mental health care. if you want to focus on the healthcare side of things (other than DWB), these guys are great.
Fonkoze another Haitian-focused charity group, this one provides Haitian women with education, health services, and other resources to help them escape poverty. very very neat, also a great score on charity navigator.
Save the Children in Haiti: same organization that is very busy in Ukraine right now, it’s a charity that focuses on children. exactly what it says. they are wonderful though and I do love them.
UNICEF - Haiti: UNICEF doing what UNICEF does.

When things feel hopeless there are amazing people who try no matter what, such as the people who created Operation Olive Branch. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vtMLLOzuc6GpkFySyVtKQOY2j-Vvg0UsChMCFst_WLA/htmlview A place where fundraisers for people trying to escape Gaza are posted all in one place. I even know a few people who have fundraisers on that list. There are many people on that list who need help from those with serious health conditions to those trying to evacuate whole families. Every dollar means something and every share is greatly appreciated.
Fundraiser for my personal friend:

Herbert Hoover saved so many children's lives in war torn Europe, but popular history doesn't tell people about that.
That is very true. A lot of people don't know that part of Hoover's story. And he didn't just save children; he helped feed literally MILLIONS of people around the world during and after World War I.
Hoover was also one of the most effective Cabinet members in American history. He was Secretary of Commerce under President Harding and continued in that role throughout the Coolidge Administration following Harding's death in office. And while his title was Commerce Secretary, he was basically the troubleshooter for any major Executive Branch issue that needed efficient management for both President Harding and President Coolidge. He may have nominally been in charge of the Commerce Department, but he was basically Secretary of Everything. And he was extraordinarily successful in that role.
Honestly, if Hoover had never been elected President, he'd probably be remembered as one of the great figures of the 20th Century. Unfortunately for him, he became President just months before the 1929 stock market crash and was Chief Executive throughout the worst of the Great Depression. And despite all of his immense talents as an administrator and at mastering the logistics of government bureaucracy, he didn't have an inspirational bone in his body, and the country needed a good President and an inspirational leader who could shine a light to help find a way out of the Great Depression. Hoover was an engineer rather than a politician, and his dour, aloof personality was the worst possible fit for the times in which he served as President. When he was soundly defeated by Franklin D. Roosevelt in the 1932 election, a major reason was because the charismatic FDR was the anti-Hoover.
Much like Jimmy Carter, Hoover accomplished far more in his career outside of the Presidency than he did during his term of office. And it's unfortunate that he's not better remembered for his role as one of the greatest humanitarians America has ever produced.

thinking about steph & jay parallels.
you've heard it all but i'm thinking about robin jay (half) jokingly saying that his calling is to be a medic. i'm thinking about robin steph's righteous anger blended with the need for being seen, about her drive for vengeance.
i'm thinking about steph's "rebirth" as a volunteer in the medical field aiding in humanitarian relief efforts. i'm thinking about post-res jay's international murder spree as an assassin in training, about his righteous anger blended with the need for being seen, about his drive for vengeance.
