A Change in Attitude Ch 6
Ch 1 , Ch 2 , Ch 3 , Ch 4 , Ch 5 Pairing: Fem!Harry / Draco Malfoy Word Count: 650 A/N: A lil shorter than the last few, and I don’t particularly care for this one... Hopefully it’s not too terrible. Enjoy!
It was late that night when Hari and Hermione finally retired to bed, Ron having left a couple hours earlier. The fourth year girls’ dormitory was quiet when they entered, Lavender and Pavarti already asleep. Hari grabbed a modest nightgown that was a dark green in color, and went into the bathroom to change while Hermione changed in the main room. She brushed her hair quickly, and twisted it into a simple braid, before opening the door so that Hermione could brush her teeth as well.
“Malfoy has been rather calm lately, don’t you think?” Hermione asked as she put a small amount of toothpaste on her brush. Hari nodded her head, her mouth too full of foam to be able to respond. “I think that maybe he wants to be friends with you.”
Hari’s brilliant green eyes widened, and she looked over Hermione before spitting into the sink. “Hermione, that’s ridiculous,” she stated as she rinsed her brush off. “He has spent the better part of the last four years making every interaction between us as miserable as possible. Why would he want to be friends now?”
Hermione rolled her eyes, not knowing just how her intelligent friend could be so dense sometimes. She spit out the foam in her mouth, making sure to fully rinse her brush. Dentists as parents cause you to be extra cautious when it comes to your teeth. “Hari… Maybe, and this is just a maybe, so don’t take it out on me if you don’t like it, but maybe he likes you.” Immediately, there was a light smack on Hermione’s arm.
“Hermione, don’t even joke about that. That’s just…” Hari shivered. “Gross. And obviously not what’s happening. He’s probably just trying to stay out of trouble for once, and get his class work done on time.”
They were leaning against the counter in the bathroom with the door just barely cracked. Hari hopped up, then started swinging her feet, something that Hermione knew she did when she was uncomfortable.
“That might be it, but why would he ask you to study together outside of class? He could just avoid you even more to continue staying out of trouble.”
Hari rolled her eyes. “It’s just a matter of convenience, Hermione. Like what you and Blaise are doing. We have the same plant, so we might as well just research it together to make it go faster.”
Hermione just shook her head slightly, but decided to give up for the time being. “Okay, Hari. I’ll drop it. I just wanted you to know my suspicions. I didn’t want to make you feel weird, or anything.”
Hari’s eyes dropped from the floor, before darting back to her friend’s face. She slid off of the counter, and moved to embrace Hermione, getting a whiff of the conditioner that she had used that morning. “I know, ‘Mione. Thanks.” She pulled away and smiled. “Now, let’s get to bed. I’m absolutely beat, and I’d rather not have my face fall into my cauldron during potions.”
They headed back into the main room, and Hari quickly snuggled into the fluffy and warm comforter. She gave her pillows a few good smacks to soften it, then exhaled loudly as she settled in.
What if Malfoy did like her?
An utterly ridiculous thought, since he had been tormenting her for years, but she guessed that it could happen. She just didn’t know how to feel about it. On the one hand, it was nice to not fight with someone constantly in half of her classes, but on the other, it just felt wrong.
Whatever, Hari thought to herself. It’s time to sleep. So sleep.
And within a few minutes, Hari’s eyes were shut and her breathing had evened. And if anyone accused her of having a dream involving a person with silvery blonde hair, well… She would argue against that having happened.

A Change in Attitude Ch 5
Ch 1 , Ch 2 , Ch 3 , Ch 4 ,  Pairing: Fem!Harry/Draco Malfoy Word Count: 1516 A/N: As I promised, Draco is here! Yayyyy! I hope y’all enjoy. Btw there’s a lot of magical-plant talk today.
The entire break was spent in the library, pouring over the books that Hari had deemed possibly helpful. Two more of the books turned out to be close to useless, reading more like a fantasy novel than a history of the tournament, so Hari sent those back as well. Too quickly, however, the hour and a half passed them by, and they hurriedly packed up their things, books charmed to be near-weightless, and rushed to the greenhouses.
By the time they reached greenhouse two, nearly all of the other students were already in the humid warmth of the building. A few of the Slytherin students, Malfoy included, stared at the trio, who were still shedding their outer robes and putting on aprons.
Professor Sprout still had yet to show, as did Neville.
Hari looked around, trying to figure out what they would be doing today. While she didn’t have the natural talent with plants that Neville did, Herbology was somewhat similar to gardening, which she had always taken a silent comfort from.
Very soon, Neville and Professor Sprout entered the greenhouse, carrying many large boxes. They set them on the large table that divided the Slytherin and Gryffindor students, and Neville moved to stand by his housemates.
Professor Sprout addressed the class, waving her wand to distribute the plants. “Today, we will be tending to Surrexerunt, the magical version of what plant?”
Hermione raised her hand, and Sprout nodded to her. “Surrexerunt is the magical equivalent to a rose, and its properties depend upon the color of its petals.”
“Very good, Ms. Granger. Five points to Gryffindor. Now, for today, we will be pairing up with people that I have chosen for you, just to see if you can work well with people that you generally don’t work with in this course. So, find the plant with your name on it, and wait for further instructions.”
A few of the students groaned at the prospect of working with people not in their house, but Hari was fine with it, since generally Ron didn’t do much of the work. She walked up to the table, looking for her name, and quickly found it at the end of the table furthest from the exit. Her partner was Malfoy. Lovely.
“Hi, Potter. Looks like we’re partners.”
She turned to look at him, nodding her head. “Yep. We should just try and get our work done, okay?”
He smirked at her, and she thought that he was going to make the next three hours hell. “Sure thing, Potter. No need to make friends, but no need to burn the greenhouse down, Like Finnegan and Bullstrode are no doubt going to do.”
Hari looked over at her explosion-prone friend, and saw that his partner was an already annoyed-looking Millicent Bullstrode.
“They better not, otherwise we’re going to lose time to finish whatever it is Sprout is going to have us do.” She continued looking to see her other friends’ partners, and saw that Hermione was speaking quietly with Zabini, and Ron was standing in silence with Goyle.
“That would not be good, considering that you and your friends seem to have a hard time completing the tasks on time anyways,” Malfoy said teasingly.
“That is not my fault, I’ll have you know. Ron is just… Easily distracted,” Hari replied, giving a small smile.
This won’t be so bad. He’s being rather… Civil today. Hopefully it continues.
“Oh yes, I’ve seen the wa-”
“Alright, everyone, eyes front!” Sprout interrupted him, drawing their eyes to her. “So, Surrexerunt are rather temperamental plants, but if you use a gentle hand, they should give you no trouble. You will be tending the same plant for the next few weeks, with the same partner, and will be writing an essay on the properties of Surrexerunt and the differences that the coloring you have gives it. We will talk more about that later. But, for now, I would like you to pull on your light gloves, and start nipping off the thorns that have begun growing.”
Malfoy pulled his gloves on, while Hari grabbed the smallest pair of shears that were available to them.
“Potter, you’re going to need larger shears than that. You won’t be able to cut anything off with those.”
Hari shook her head, and started in on slowly removing the small thorns growing from the stem of the plant. “You can’t just remove the thorn all at once, otherwise the plant will shoot a slightly acidic fluid at you, which will only get more acidic the more thorns you cut off.” She gently stroked the plant around the area that she was currently trimming, which calmed the plant enough to allow her to trim it further.
“Where did you learn that?” Malfoy asked, genuinely curious. After all, Hari had never shown much expanded knowledge besides what they covered in classes, and this was a not as well known plant.
“I stumbled across a tome in the library explaining the differences between the magical and non-magical version of plants. It was rather interesting,” Hari replied as she pulled away from the plant, dropping the thorn that she had removed onto the small dish that Sprout had provided. She looked at Malfoy, who looked intrigued. “I could find it again for you, if you’d like,” She offered, then moved to trim another thorn.
“That would be nice.” Malfoy removed his gloves, and leaned onto the table. “So, why are you stroking the plant as you do this?” He asked with curiosity.
“Sprout said to use a gentle hand, so I figured that meant to calm the plant as we remove the dangerous growths. It would be painful if it were a human, and plants have some sort of sentience, so calming them makes sense, and also reduces the likelihood that the plant will attack.”
Malfoy nodded his head, obviously agreeing. Hari had already removed another thorn, her confidence having grown at dealing with this particular plant. He reached for another pair of the small shears, and moved in to remove a thorn. He slowly trimmed a small amount of the thorn, stroking the area around thorn, just as Hari had.
Within the hour, the two of them had removed all of the thorns that had grown from their plant. Hari took out her textbook, opening up to the page that described Surrexerunt, then pulled out her muggle notebook and pen.
Malfoy eyed the unfamiliar items warily, which Hari noticed.
She flipped open her spiral notebook, showing while not pointing it out that the paper was lined and much more convenient than rolls of parchment, and titled the page with ‘Surrexerunt notes.’
“Okay, so our plant has lilac petals, so we’ll need to know what that means…” Hari began, rattling off possible notes that they needed to take, while Malfoy listened to her and writing a few of the topics down in her notebook as well.
They spent the rest of the class making small notes from what could be found in the textbook, but knew that they would have to find a more detailed book if Sprout wanted more than twelve inches for the essay.
Before they knew it, Sprout was announcing that the essay was to be between 15 and 20 inches, and include the differences between a normal, white Surrexerunt, and their specific color, as well as the change made when the plant has its thorns removed.
“So, Potter, since we need the same information, we may as well meet in the library to do the research together,” Malfoy suggested, surprising Hari. While today had gone smoothly, she hadn’t thought that Malfoy would be willing to do research together.
“I suppose we could,” She agreed slowly. “Meet at Pince’s desk at 7 tomorrow evening?”
“Sure. I’ll see you there, Potter,” He said, turning to leave when Zabini called to him.
Hari frowned, still somewhat confused by what had just happened.
“Hey, Hari, how was class with Malfoy?” Hermione asked, bringing Hari her outer robes from where she had originally left them.
“It was… Surprisingly pleasant, I guess? I mean, we’re meeting tomorrow to do research in the library,” She said as they moved towards Ron, who had been standing and staring down at the table since class ended.
“That’s good. Blaise and I will be doing the same, except tomorrow morning. We both want to get a head start on the essay, since Snape will no doubt give us one tomorrow as well.” Hermione seemed rather happy, finally having someone as a partner who cares enough about schoolwork to go to the library in the morning. “Ron?” She asked, noticing that he hadn’t moved an inch.
“That was the worst class I have ever had.”
Hari quirked an eyebrow, thinking of a time when he had caused his cauldron to explode. “How so?”
“Goyle is… Somewhat intelligent!” He said, completely outraged.
“Honestly, Ronald, of course he is. He is a person, after all,” Hermione said as she pushed him out of the greenhouse and into the chill that signaled the beginning of winter.
Notes: Surrexerunt is Latin for ‘rose,’ or so google translate tells me. Don’t sue me if it’s wrong lol.

A Change in Attitude Ch 4
Ch 1 , Ch 2 , Ch 3 Pairing: Fem!Harry/Draco Malfoy Word Count: 985 A/N: Sooo, I promise that Draco will show up again in the next chapter... This one is just like. Idk not about that lol. Enjoy!
Hari barely managed to stay awake through history, but Ron wasn’t as lucky.
“Come on, ‘Mione, let me borrow them?”
“Ron, seriously, if you want to pass History of Magic, you have to at least attempt to stay awake. I swear.”
Hari snickered at their bickering, and led the two of them to the library. They quieted once they passed the threshold, but continued talking. Hari dropped her bookbag into a chair, then left to search out Madame Pince.
They really need to make a better layout in here. You could get lost in here for days.
She finally reached Pince’s desk, which was surrounded by stacks of books that had seen better days. She knocked on the smooth, faded wood, knowing that speaking would be ill advised.
Madame Pince emerged from her office, looking harried. Her shoulders immediately dropped at the sight of Hari. “Ah, Hari. It’s lovely seeing you,” she began, her voice soft. “What are you looking for today?”
“I’m hoping that you’ll have something on charms that can make words unintelligible unless you have the counter-charm, and maybe a few books on past Triwizard tournaments?”
“Of course, dear. It will be a few minutes for me to find them, feel free to mend a few books if you’d like.” Hari smiled, then approached one of the stacks of weathered books.
Since second year, Hari had been coming to the library on occasion, and had started a strange sort of relationship with the generally sour librarian. After the first month of Hari haunting the shelves, Pince had approached her, asking why she had been alone so much. That had been just after everyone thought her a would-be murderer and heir of Slytherin.
Eventually, Hari had begun quietly chatting with Madame Pince, helping her mend the books that had either been damaged by students or their age. She even gave Hari access to the restricted section so long as she showed Pince the books that she was checking out, as to save the young twelve year old too much mental scarring.
Hari considered them to be sort-of friends. Madame Pince was actually a rather lovely woman, who cared deeply about the education of the students, but the fact that so many students over the year had simply used the library as a place to whine about their studies had turned her bitter. As such, she hardly spoke to any of the students, considering them to be just another student uninterested in knowledge. Hari felt rather bad for her, since being a keeper of knowledge used to be such an honored position.
Hari picked up a dusty tome, one whose title was unknown due to the cracking along the spine, as well as the front cover. She pulled out her wand and murmured the charm that would re-bind the spine. The book in her hand was titled Healing through the Ages. Hari then used a charm that cast a faint yellow light over the cover of the book, causing it to mend back together and become darkened again. On the cover were various herbs that were common in healing potions and rituals. It would probably be an interesting read if she decided to learn more about healing charms.
She set the book on top of Pince’s desk, then moved to the next. She repeated the process, and saw that this book was called Rituals for Samhain. This book would most likely be withdrawn from the library or placed in the restricted section now that it was readable once more.
“Hari, there are quite a few books on the tournament, so I chose a selection of them. As for the charm type you were looking for, I only found two books that could be related to it.” Pince had around fifteen books floating behind her, which landed on her desk in three neat piles. “The two here,” she pointed to two books, “are the ones related to the charm you were inquiring after. And the rest of them are about the tournament. I separated them into two piles, based upon what they focus on. These,” she pointed to the smaller stack, “focus on the rules of the tournament, while these are more on specific tournaments themselves.”
Hari smiled, then cast a levitation charm on all three stacks of books. “Thank you very much, Madame Pince. I’ll make sure to return any books that I don’t check out.”
Pince gave a slight nod, then turned her attention to the two books Hari had restored.
Hari walked back to where she had left her friends, who were still quietly arguing, even if they had moved on to the subject of their most recently assigned potions essay. She carefully set the books down on the table, and pulled a notebook out of her bag.
Hari had ruled out seven of the books on the Triwizard tournaments, and sent them back to their places with a quick wave of her hand. The remaining five seemed to be somewhat useful to her, with one being an in-depth rulebook, and the other four going into detail on the specific tasks that had been used in the past. She had been doing this for at least twenty minutes, when finally, finally, Hermione and Ron acknowledged her return to the table.
“Oh, Hari, you’re back.” Hermione looked at the books that were left on the table, not believing that Hari would get so few for such important research. “Why aren’t there more books here?”
“Because not everyone needs the entire library to research something…” Ron muttered.
Hari ignored him, choosing to answer Hermione. “I had more, but they were useless to what we’re looking for. Only two of them are related to what we came here for, the rest are on the tournament itself.”
Hermione still looked a little conflicted, but figured that Hari knew what she needed. “Well, let’s get to work.”

A Change in Attitude Ch 3
Ch 1 , Ch 2
Pairing: Draco Malfoy/ Fem! Harry Potter Word Count: 1077 A/N: Ayyyeee I’m back with another chapter. Fancy, I know. So this one has some spells in it that aren’t really well known, so I put them in some notes that will follow after the chapter. I got the spells from Michael Gonzalez’s book ‘The Unofficial Harry Potter Spellbook: Wizard in Training’. I got it off of amazon for like $10, and I have to say that I highly recommend it cause it’s cool af. But yeah! I hope you enjoy, even if there’s 0 Hari/Draco interaction lol. At some point they’ll talk again I guess :)
The duels were interesting, to say the least. The Slytherin students were for the most part far more skilled in the ways of dueling, and it showed in the length of duels. Seamus went down fairly quickly against Daphne, although he did manage to singe her hair a bit.
Moody didn’t stick to the Gryffindor vs. Slytherin rivalry, and pitted those in the same house against each other a fair number of times. Hermione and Ron were actually paired together, and Hermione unsurprisingly took Ron down quickly.
Hari was one of the last to be paired up, with only Malfoy, Nott, and Neville left.
“Nott, Potter, you’re up,” Moody barked, and the two of them hurried to take their positions. “Bow, and take the three steps back,” he instructed. “Begin!”
“Stupefy!” Hari said, sending the jet of red light towards Nott, sidestepping the ‘silencio’ that he sent at her. She kept her feet moving, knowing that if she stayed in place she would have to use more power to maintain a shield charm. Nott had erected a shield, and it evaporated Hari’s spell when it came into contact with it. “Relashio,” was Hari’s next spell that she sent, standing a few steps away from the edge of the wall where the Slytherin students were standing.
Nott dodged that spell, and quickly sent both a ‘petrificus totalus,’ and a whispered spell that looked similar to the jelly-leg-jinx, in Hari’s opinion. Hari moved, able to evade the first spell, but sent up a shield charm, and sent an ‘orbis’ to Nott’s feet, ‘lumos solem’ to the area above his eyes, and quietly uttered “Expelliarmus,” catching Nott’s wand as it flew towards her.
She muttered the counter-spell to cancel the sunlight, and walked towards Nott to return his wand. Nott nodded at her, acknowledging her victory.
“Well done, Potter. Using sunlight to distract your opponent. That is why constant vigilance is so important, students!” Hari blushed, and walked back to the Gryffindor line, where Hermione quietly congratulated her.
“Alright, and lastly we have Longbottom and Malfoy. Get in your places.”
Immediately when they began, Malfoy sent a tickling charm towards Neville, and a bombarda to his feet. Neville used a shield to block the charm, but the slivers of stone cut into his skin, causing small trickles of blood to fall from his face and arms. Neville sent a sticking charm to Malfoy, but was disarmed almost immediately after.
“Well done, Mr. Malfoy. Attacking ones surroundings will distract them, especially if it is with an explosion.” Moody looked around at all of the students, some of them injured and some of them not, but none were too severely hurt. “All injured students will report to the hospital wing, and the rest are released from class. Good work everyone, and remember. CONSTANT VIGILANCE!” Moody finished, shouting his catch-phrase.
The students grabbed their bags and hustled out of the room, a little under half heading towards the hospital wing, the rest heading to their next classes.
“Well, that was a rather interesting lesson, don’t you think?” Hermione asked.
“Definitely,” Ron said. “Even if I did let you beat me, it was bloody cool to see how everyone fights.”
Hari nodded. “It’s pretty nice to see how different all of our backgrounds are, and what kinds of spells we know. Like, the Slytherins seem to have more training in dueling and combat magic, while the Gryffindors are more protection and distraction based.” Hari paused, thinking about what spells had been used. “It is weird, though, that the Slytherin students didn’t really use any dark magic, considering that they’re known for using it…”
Hermione glanced at her, a little surprised that Hari had caught that. “I know. Maybe they were trying to keep the fight a little cleaner, with less injuries?”
Ron scoffed at that. “The Slytherins wouldn’t care if they caused more injuries, they probably just didn’t want to get in trouble because Moody hates dark wizards so much.”
Hari frowned, not able to bring herself to believe that. “I don’t know, Ron. I feel like they don’t truly want to injure us. There are plenty of dark spells that don’t hurt people much. Maybe they’re just trying to stay on better terms with us by using more of the types of spells that we know and know how to defend ourselves against.” Hermione nodded her head at that, finding it more believable.
“Even if I’ve had some bad experiences with certain Slytherins, it’s not as if they’re all evil. Especially considering that we’re all just here to learn,” Hermione said.
The three of them headed to History of Magic, trailing a bit behind the other Gryffindors that were heading there as well. Everyone drifted in reluctantly, even the Ravenclaw students, settling into their seats as Binns drifted into the classroom and began droning on about the Third Goblin War, which he had already covered five times at least over their school career.
Hari’s earlier fatigue swept over her as she listened to Binns’ monotone voice, and began thinking about how the Slytherin students hadn’t used much, if any, dark magic. Nott had used a shield charm that was at least gray, if not dark. Crabbe had used a dark jinx to confuse Lavender, which had apparently only caused her to see double vision of Crabbe, which she had claimed would haunt her until she died. And Zabini had used a dark bone-breaking curse, but it had made a clean fracture rather than shattering Goyle’s wand-arm.
None of the dark spells used had been any worse than the light ones. Bombarda could have made a person explode if targeted directly at them, lumos solem could possibly blind a person if powered to an extreme, and stupefy could give someone a concussion if they fell and hit their head I the wrong way.
Honestly, Hari thought that the Slytherin students were simply using more of what was considered acceptable, especially to those like Ron who thought that dark magic was evil and not to be used. Not to mention that most students didn’t know how to counter many dark spells, even if it would be more helpful for them to know in the long run. It was, after all, Defence Against the Dark Arts. Yet they mainly learned how to defend themselves against light spells.
Strange.
Hari’s head was getting dangerously close to her desk, when Hermione smacked her arm to jolt her awake.
Notes: Relashion – A spell that makes a person or object release what they are holding or binding. Orbis – a spell that sucks the target into the ground Lumos solem – creates a ray of light as bright as the sun

A Change in Attitude Ch 2
Ch 1
Pairing: Draco / Fem!Harry Word Count: 993 A/N: Sooo, not much (read: ANY) interaction between Hari and Draco. And some changes to the canon. Ron didn’t go MIA as a friend to Hari after her name was pulled, and Hari is more academically inclined in this, because I feel like she would be closer to Hermione in the fascination with Magic and everything about it. Anyways, I hope you enjoy!
Hari managed to drag herself downstairs to the Great Hall, fully dressed and only half awake. Once they had returned to the castle, Hermione and Ron had kept her up by trying to think of ways that the egg could be utilized as a clue. And as a result, Hari’s face nearly fell into her eggs ten minutes into breakfast.
“Hari!” Hermione exclaimed, rushing over to her, causing Hari to startle awake. Ron was behind her, moving more slowly since he didn’t suffer from being a morning person like Hermione. “What are you doing down here so early? Ron and I couldn’t find you in the common room, and you weren’t in bed.”
“I’m sorry, ‘Mione,” Hari said sleepily, her eyes closing again as she relaxed. Ron sat down across from her, piling scrambled eggs, sausages, and bacon onto his plate.
Hermione sat down next to her, and poured two cups of coffee and added a liberal amount of cream to both. “Drink up, Hari. You can’t be falling asleep in class.” Hari followed the instructions, and quickly chugged the caffeinated drink, then poured another. History of Magic would put her to sleep anyways, but any other classes and she would never hear the end of it from Hermione.
Ron was plowing his way through breakfast while Hermione went over their schedule for the day. Ever since Hari’s name had come out of the goblet, she had taken it upon herself to organize Hari’s day for maximum study and practice time. Hermione would wholeheartedly sacrifice her friend’s comfort and sleep schedule in order to keep her from dying in a tournament that she no doubt was forced to participate in.
“So we have double Defence first today, then History of Magic and a break before double Herbology. I think that we should use the break to research some in the library about possible charms that could be used to make a message indecipherable unless you know a charm to reverse it. I know there are a few that I’ve heard of, but I’m sure there are more that are taught at other schools.”
“’Mione, why can’t you do it since you know what you’re looking for already?” Ron asked, sipping on some pumpkin juice. Hermione sighed across from him, used to his laziness by this point.
“Ronald, if I were able to go through the number of books that the charms are mentioned in within an hour break, I would do it alone. However, as fast a reader I may be, that is simply not possible, so I need both your and Hari’s help.”
Ron groaned, but didn’t argue with her on it. If Hermione wanted help in research, she would get it, especially with Hari on her side. Personally, Hari didn’t mind the idea of spending an hour inside of the library, away from the prying eyes of the other students.
Hari was slowly eating her eggs that she had gotten earlier, sipping coffee between each bite and beginning to wake up. Hermione and Ron had started bickering about his lack of motivation to finish homework early, and continued the conversation all the way to the Defence classroom. Hari tuned them out, thinking about what they might be learning today.
In the classes that they’d had with Moody, they had observed and taken notes on the Unforgivables, learning shielding charms and what they would and would not block, a few stunning charms, and various spells to detect poisons. All in all, Moody’s lessons were unpredictable but interesting all the same.
They walked into the room, which was no longer set up like a normal classroom, the desks having been stacked up and pushed to the side. Many of the Slytherin students had already arrived, and a few Gryffindor students were there, but most tended to show up at the last second.
Moody was nowhere to be seen, but an occasional loud clang could be heard from the office attached to the classroom. All of the students, regardless of which house they were in, were quiet, sticking to opposite sides of the room to stay out of trouble. Moody’s all-seeing-eye would no doubt see any misconduct.
Just as Seamus flew into the classroom, the door slammed shut behind him as Moody walked down from his office, carrying a rug of some sorts. Once he reached the bottom of the stairs, he levitated the rug so that it spread out between the two lines of students, nearly reaching the walls of the classroom.
“Today,” Moody began, his voice gruffer than normal, “We will be staging mock duels. The only spells off limits are those that have been declared illegal by the ministry, or will irreparably harm your dueling partner. The duel will only end when one person is no longer able to cast spells, or declares themselves to be too weak to continue.”
Quiet conversations started, people excited to finally get to practice spells in a less controlled environment.
“We will be taking the week to do a tournament. Whoever wins a duel will advance to the next round. I have already made the pairings, so do not think that you will be choosing your partners.” He looked specifically at Lavender and Pavarti, who had been quietly giggling about how they hoped to be paired up against Nott or Zabini, who they had decided were cute enough to duel.
“The overall winner of the competition will be awarded the ability to skip one assignment at any point during this year. This does not include tests.” He paused, letting his words sink into the students. “Does everyone understand the rules?” He asked, his electric blue eye darting around the room.
The students answered him, “Yes, professor.” Moody pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket, unfolded it and enlarged it, then attached it to the wall. It was the tournament schedule.
“Very well. First up are Seamus Finnegan and Daphne Greengrass. Take your places.”

A Change in Attitude Ch 1
This is a piece that I might turn into a series? But it takes place in the fourth year, after the first task has already happened. Just kinda random so idk. Fandom: Harry Potter Pairing: Fem!Harry/Draco Word Count: 609
Edit: This is now called ‘A Change in Attitude’. Whoop whoooop, and this is chapter 1. Yay!
It was a crisp Saturday morning, which meant that it was time to visit Hogsmeade. Hari, Ron and Hermione had bundled up in their winter gear and had headed out into the chill to visit the homey village. They had chosen to leave later than normal, so that Hari would only have to endure a small amount of criticism in light of the tournament.
That choice was what led the Golden Trio down to Hogsmeade at the same time as Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle.
Bloody fantastic, now we’re going to have to live with Malfoy badgering us the entire walk down,” Ron muttered to Hari.
“Hopefully they decide to be civil so that we can enjoy today,” Hermione added, then ushered Hari and Ron to walk faster, pushing them ahead of the Slytherin group. Hari thought it was odd when Malfoy didn’t say anything, but Crabbe and Goyle both shot insults at the three of them.
Soon enough, Hari was greeted by the sugary warmth of Honeydukes, and started wandering through the dwindling groups of students to find some simple chocolate that she had been craving all week.
The students that had been in the area before her had quickly left, whispering in not-so-hushed voices, obviously talking about Hari and her attention-seeking nature. Hari didn’t mind it though, happier to be left to browse for her sweets.
That is until someone whispered in her ear.
“What’re you looking for, Potter?”
Hari spun around, and was faced with the smirking face of one Draco Malfoy. “What the bloody hell, Malfoy?!” She asked, completely bewildered by him.
“I’m just curious what you’re going to buy. Most people linger on the more… Interesting products,” He said, acting as though he hadn’t just violated her personal space. At her disbelieving look, he added, “I’m just trying to be friendly, Potter.”
Hari rolled her eyes, not believing his words and assuming that he’s attempting to mess with her. “Well, I’ll have you know that I prefer to enjoy my sweets rather than suffer through them.”
“Hence the chocolate?” He asked. Hari simply nodded, then picked up a two dark chocolate bars, one plain and the other with orange. She pushed past him, and bought her choices, ignoring the look from the cashier, then left Honeydukes to grab a table at the Three Broomsticks.
She claimed a table more quickly than she had expected to, and was glad to be sat in the corner where she would not be as easily seen. She settled in, ordering a butterbeer when a waitress came by.
As she sipped the warm drink, she thought about how Malfoy had been acting recently. He had been rather neutral lately, not antagonizing her as the rest of the school had been, although not being openly friendly either. Which she was glad for. A friendly Malfoy would be a sign that the world as she knew it was coming to a close.
After only a few minutes, Hermione and Ron rejoined Hari, drawing her out of her thoughts. They ordered butterbeers as well, and Hermione started up a conversation about the second task, reminding Harry that she still had to figure out what the egg clue meant, as obviously a bunch of horrid screaming was not the clue that would help her prepare.
At one point Ron suggested that maybe Hari would have to face off with a banshee.
Even with the warmth of the butterbeer and the tavern, Hari had a chill creeping in over her. Hermione noticed her slight shiver and almost immediately suggested that they go back to the castle, as it had grown rather late while they pondered.

A lil fluffish piece
Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing: Tomarry , Tom/Harry , Tom/Fem!Harry
Word count: 285
Hari was pacing back in forth in the lounge, hardly aware of the warmth emanating from the flames in the fireplace. She was lost in her thoughts, unable to calm her body as her mind raced as well.
She only stopped when Tom’s arms wrapped around her, effectively stilling her.
“What’s wrong, Hari?” He asked softly, turning her in his arms so that she faced him. Her worry was written plain across her face, although her eyes held a small glimmer of hope.
Instead of speaking, Hari simply buried her face in Tom’s chest, her hands grasping at his silken shirt as tears started pooling in her eyes.
Tom sighed, worried for his Hari. While they hadn’t always been on the same side, they were now, and she had quickly wormed his way into his otherwise stone cold heart. He led her towards the couch closest to them, and sat first, pulling Hari onto his lap. As her arms wrapped around his neck, his right hand started stroking her hair.
They sat like that for a time, Hari’s tears silently dampening Tom’s shirt. Once she had calmed sufficiently, she lifted her head to look into Tom’s eyes.
“Are you ready to talk now?” Tom asked in a low, soothing voice. She nodded her head. “Alright. So, darling, what happened to make you so distraught?”
“I’m not distraught… Just… Worried,” Hari started, her voice sounding raw from earlier.
“What worried you, then?”
“It’s hard to explain. Hermione came over today, since I’ve been sick recently.” Tom nodded at this, aware of how sensitive Hari’s stomach had been lately. “And when we started talking, well…” She paused, not sure how to continue.
“Well?” Tom prodded.
“I’m pregnant.”
