The cons of being nonbinary during pride month is everyone is still seen, but you feel even more invisible and unworthy because everyone else gets the spotlight they deserve and because you don't associate with a gender, they assume you're okay with sitting this one out so you just exist with no recollection that you were just that a person until they go "she this" "she that". I just want to be seen for me being me.

I just want to feel like a person, and I don't and it isn't fair.

I call him my son, but my cat knows when I'm depressed to the point of not being able to do stuff for myself and will just hang out in my room, or lay on top of me. When I had food poisoning, he laid on me (something he never does, he lays next to me, or just in the room with me). He also knows when something is wrong with the house. My cousin had left his window open with the door open, and the screen was broken. So my adorable orange baby takes me to the window and says "mom, look, this is different!" I had to make sure all of the other cats were inside too, which they were. After my mom passed, my sister's boyfriend (who's moved in now and is super chill and cool) had a panic attack because that was a mother figure for him too, my cat was the one who sat with him through the night. He is so smart and sweet and just knows when you need a cat.

I recently had surgery, and at the time I came home, I had both my cat and one of my grandma's cats staying with me.

- Within hours of surgery, I wake up from a nap to my cat gently sniffing at my incisions with great alarm.

- I was not allowed to shower the first day after surgery, and the cats, seeing that The Large Cat is not observing its cleaning ritual, decided I must be gravely disabled and compensated by licking all the exposed skin on my arms, face, and legs.

- I currently have to sleep with a pillow over my abdomen because my cat insists on climbing on top of me and covering my incisions with her body while I sleep (which is very sweet but not exactly comfortable without the pillow). She also lays across me facing my bedroom door, presumably on guard for attackers who may try to harm me while I'm sleeping and injured.

That's love. 🐈‍⬛🐈❤️
