When I felt lost and gone, these 3 Insights are what turned the tides!👇🏽 I felt unwanted, I felt unseen. I felt as if I do not matter and nothing I ever do ever will! Much of it comes from how I learned to see myself when I was child. Bullied in school. Never quick at learning. The only way to solve conflict was with aggression. I had few actual friends and felt I did not belong! ⚡️And here lies the crux: Nobody told me that having needs like wanting to belong or needing a feeling of emotional stability is not only OK but it is essential for my emotional development! 💡Insight I: How I view myself and the world around me depends on how much I understand my own needs and allow myself to care for them! 💡Insight II: How I care for my own needs shows directly how I interact with the people around me - Family, Friends and romantic partners! 💡Insight III: Asking myself, what I NEED is probably the most important question I can ask on any day! Why? Write this down: The more balanced your needs are served, the more effortless your life becomes. Or in other words, the more balanced you are in having your needs fulfilled, the more life force, energy so to say will be available to you! Think about this! 👉🏽You feel depressed sometimes? 👉🏽You feel tired and worn out? 👉🏽You work overtime and still feel you don't get to a point of lasting satisfaction? I know I only move as fast as I can when I see an achievable task with a promise of something shiny! 😄 Or.. Do you even know your own needs and how to take care of them⁉️ There are six fundamental needs that we are continuously looking to fulfil. They are like the expectations of our lungs for air: ⚡️Non negotiable! The first important step is to become conscious of each of them within ourselves! Are you aware of which need might be causing you to feel out of balance? In what areas of your life are you currently not taking responsibility to meet your own needs? Our emotions are always indicators to our needs and if they are being served: ✅When I am happy, a need has been served successfully. ❌When I am sad, frustrated or angry, there is a need, a part of myself not respected, violated, not being met! The first four needs are closely connected and when one is (over)served, we will likely move towards the other one again, and vice versa 🔁. 💡The last two needs are basic needs that live within us all and cellular compounds (plants, animals etc.) need to serve! They don’t counteract each other, on the contrary they compliment each other. Once we gain more clarity of which needs are currently taking the backseat, we can start to nourish them within and learn to communicate our needs in a healthy way with others. "You sure you don't want to settle down? Build a house and create stability for yourself and others?" Hm.. Why should I? I mean I love to create that stability for others, but not at the cost of my own authentic expression. And this inner desire to express, manifests currently in a way that looks like moving from place to place, eating lots of different foods, learning how to help increasing numbers of people to feel and express themselves authentically, getting challenged by Indonesian roosters and riding broken motorbikes through insane traffic jams. I have since learned that the quality of my life is measured by the authenticity by which I am living it and how well I take care of my needs and help others meet theirs. That conclusion did NOT just drop into my lap. I had to allow challenges into my life. Such as staying with an incredible women that sometimes triggers the sh*t out of me, but also holds me emotionally accountable and allows me to heal my childhood wounds without judging me for them.
