Operation Yuurei pt.2
“....The city was a juxtaposition of nightmares and dreams; a place where the line between reality and imagination was so blurred, you drifted throughout the pocket of space as nothing more than a mere whisper, a ghost of both the past and future in the present.”

It was coldness,
a sadness, of sorts,
a bittersweet melancholy
that reverberated throughout the air––
a voice of serene silence
that paused life itself momentarily
a beauty once witnessed,
never to be forgotten

Longing
“...The desert wind rustled, kicking up a small splattering of sand dust into his eyes and nose. He tried to take in the scenery of his home, a snapshot of this moment in time––a glittering sea of red sand dunes lapping against the edges of the weather-worn paint coating the columns of the pagoda, the fortress of the Namuu mountains looming in the distance––all stained a golden coral glow from rays of the rising sun. This, this was home.”

Summer Chills
a sigh,
a breath,
an exhale––
peaceful silence
a serene beauty of existence

I fear these cherished memories of fleeting moments–– the me of the now–– will slowly fade away piece by piece until it is as if it was nothing more than a cherished dream, a wild fantasy

And in that instance nothing on Moirai–– no dunes, no sounds, no experiences felt real–– but merely a mirage–– did he even exist?

Flicker
Every single one of us
we are all
broken
but
isn’t that how/the light reaches within?
In this digital painting of my character Asuraa, I wanted to create a strong silhouette in front of flickering lights and fog, with a rainy atmosphere and diluted colors. I wanted showcase her standing on the edge of an old battle field, littered with weapons; with her standing triumphant amidst the weak fallen. Her character is misguided and is for the most part, an antagonist. However, I wanted to still show that people are not just ‘good’ or ‘bad’, but instead live in a gray area of in between. People might not be whom you expect them to be upon first glance.

Komorebi
Komorebi––‘sunlight filtering through trees.’ I loved the mental imagery this word conveyed in my head, and I wanted to transcribe those flashes of glowing rays into a digital painting.

Kaleidoscope
When creating this digital painting, one goal I had in mind was to try new techniques––such as the glowing portal rim––and also trying to make the shading as realistic as possible. After studying various reference photos of how lighting reflects and interacts with human skin and their surroundings, I came up with this piece of Suigetsu. I also wanted to keep the color scheme bright and vibrant, leaning towards more of a playful atmosphere.
