Mirror locking
Mirrors are a liminal space, similar to doors and windows. Where spirits and energies can pass through freely. It can be positive for a few witches as they use mirrors to scry or for spells that involve a mirror. For me, personally, I feel uncomfortable having an entryway for spirits to come and go as they please, so I lock them. The energies vary, it isn't always negative energies or spirits passing through, it can be neutral or positive ones as well. I researched and researched and mixed what I found into something that works well.
Give the mirrors in your room (can be big ones, vanity mirrors, even small pocket ones as well) a good clean. I usually clean it with Moon Water or water from the offering bowls in my shrine room.
For the big mirrors, get water (can be moon water, sun water, any water) or oil (oil with protective qualities. I also use a rose body oil sometimes) and draw with your finger a protective rune in the corner (I use the Ingwaz rune or the Algiz) While drawing I say: "No entity, spirit, or energy will pass through or come from this mirror. Nothing that wishes to harm me will come through."
for the smaller ones (vanity) In a post-it note I draw the symbol while telling out the same line as above. I paste the post-it on the back of the vanity and probably tape it there as well so it stays there.
For the pocket ones, I draw the symbol with water on the cover (if it closes like the flip phones) or the back and say the same shit.
It isn't necessary for you to lock mirrors if you don't want to, but if there are mirrors in your house that face other mirrors or doors or windows, then it would be wise to lock it. Most people I know, lock the mirrors just in case. Mirrors facing mirrors, mirrors facing doors, facing windows can cause more unwanted spirit/energy activity (negative or positive)

🌿Plant Spirit Devotional: 15 Day Exercise
Here's my concept for a method to facilitate bonding with a Plant Spirit or Herbal Ally over the course of a month. Obviously this practice takes far longer than a month to create a lasting bond with a plant spirit but hopefully this exercise helps provide some structure to the practice of bonding with a Herbal Ally. Feel free to use this outline yourself or modify it to your own needs.
15 days of Plant Spirit Devotion. Day 1: Introduction to the chosen plant. Day 2: The plants native habitat. Day 3: Cultivation, Foraging and Preparation. Day 4: Mundane properties (Culinary, Medicinal, Poisons etc). Day 5: Art inspired by / incorporating the chosen plant. Day 6: Magical correspondences. Day 7: Folk names and their origins. Day 8: Folklore and associated myths. Day 9: Deity / Spirit associations. Day 10: Plant's role in ritual: Cultural and Spiritual Significance. Day 11: Tarot / Oracle associations: Card spotlights. Day 12: Personal Sigil for the Plant Spirit. Day 13: Current Relationship with the Plant Spirit. Day 14: Personal goals when working with the Spirit. Day 15: Exercise conclusion, Take-aways and final overview.
My current plan with this exercise is to complete it each month for a different plant spirit / herbal ally, starting with Rosemary during February. Generally my plan is to spend the first half of the month bonding with the herb and researching it and the latter half of the month completing this exercise.

This Exercise was inspired by this post: link by @noctivague about a 15 day deity devotional. Thanks for the amazing idea!

Full Moon Rituals
Tonight, January 25th 2024, is the Wolf Moon and it's in Leo.
Full moons are a great time for releasing anything that's holding you back or doesn't serve you anymore.
Try doing a purging ritual, cleansing, self-love spell or tarot.
or take a bath, journal, meditate, go for a walk in the moonlight.
Don't forget to charge your crystals or herbs or make moon water by leaving them out to soak up some of the moon's power.

This is the exact midpoint between waxing and waning phases. the sun and moon are in conjunction.
Its the best time for:
Endeavors, planting sees, setting intentions, and coming up with new ideas
Waxing Moon
Begins immediately after the new moon until it is full. As the moon is growing, so should your magic.
Its the best time for:
Intention for attraction, love, abundance, success, expansion, creativity, taking action, development and growth

This is the peak of magic potency and is great for almost any kind of magic right before or on the full moon.
Its the best time for:
Psychic enhancement, charging, cleansing, and spells for attraction
Waning Moon
This is immediately after the full moon starts to decrease until the new moon.
Its the best time for:
Cleansing or releasing spells, introspection, undoing bindings, breaking bad habits, banishing, balance, success, wisdom and purification

Yule Decorating Chants and Ideas (tbc)
Tree Ornaments
State your purpose before beginning and keep it in your mind while working. give it a fitting enchantment that is appropriate to its purpose. for example, a good chant for a good health ornament would be:
Bring good health to mine and me as i will, so mote it be
An idea for a homemade ornament would be taking a container (preferably a sphere) and filling it with a spell (treat it as a spell jar) before tying it to the tree.
Tumblr media
^ not made by me. I did make some really pretty protection ones but i forgot to take photos
Garlands
can be used as a form of protection. chant while you work on them :
I string protection into thee as i work--so mote it be
Tumblr media
^ not made by me
Ideas for homemade Yule garland:
orange slices, evergreen, cinnamon sticks, cranberries, popcorn, acorns, sunflower seeds, bay leaves, pinecones
depending on what you use, you can hang it on your fence afterwards to feed birds or squirrels. Always check each ingredient first.
(if using popcorn only use plain air-popped (or unpopped) without toppings, only let birds eat cinnamon if it is ceylon and not cassia)

December 24 Ritual
Finnish people believe in spirits of the dead revisiting their homes today and light white candles on their graves to help them find their way.
to honor those who used to live in your home, light a white candle yourself and enchant it :
spirits, you are welcome here rejoin this home and have no fear we're glad to have you--you may stay until you need to fly away
The Celtic Tree Month of Beth starts today. This month is dedicated to the birch tree, symbolizing birth and purification.
start the day with a salt bath to spiritually purify:
salt of power, salt of might rid my life of what's not right release all negativity cleanse me now, salt. Blessed be

December 23 Ritual
Today is the last day of the Roman year where the Festival if Larentia and Lares are celebrated.
look back on important person events that happened over the last year and say goodbye:
With fondest memories, i let you go ride the changing winds that blow ill not forget the fun we had but i release all the things that made me sad i wish you well as you fly out Old Year, ill miss you-- theres no doubt
To get rid of dark spots in your life:
hold an amethyst in your hand and close your eyes, going within yourself.
examine any character traits or experience that you wish to leave your spirit and visualize it traveling to the amethyst.
ask your ancestors for help to clean any leftovers that might stick :
foremother and father, hear my plea of darkness, let my life be free pack away those things that hurt and clear out all the dust and dirt so that white light may shine in me as i will, so mote it be
