Like five characters can NOT catch a break in The Black Throne. Four of them come home after months of being on a recon mission. While the fifth is the kings right hand man (self explanatory, really). Then a sociopathic, gay, sassy demon who's in love with the king comes back from the "dead", ruins everything, sends those five characters to their (almost) death, and, when all seems to be improving, mf starts a war 🤦

Seriously, villains need to learn how to chill.

Death XIII

This was both very fun and a pain in the ass. I struggled with finging the right rendering style, ugh.

Anyway

There aren't a lot of hidden details, but there's some and I would like to talk about them. First: The bleeding hearts vine represents Vendetta, it's her flower like snowdrops and lily of the valley are Malices or sunflowers to Joseph. They're beautiful, resilient, and poisonous. I also used them in ATO's chapter headers. Second: The star bursts surrounding the edge represent her children, the smallest in the middle being the twins, Sok and Rayen, her youngest. The bottom left is Elias, top left Odovacar, top right Draga, and the bottom right is Inyene. The green also represents her "youngest child" Malice, which leads me to the third: The wolf is Malice who is always referred to as a mutt, but is also referred to as a wolf in TBT. He is what his mother made him yet is distinctly different than his siblings. Fourth: The hand holding Vendetta's head is also Malice. I think it's obvious as to why he's holding her head, but I won't say it 😉 Fifth: The spikes are her crown, tainted by Malice but not properly worn by either of them. Sixth: A detail in the rendering. Vendetta torn flesh is mottled.

Finally, I got the physical copies of these lovely, amazing, gorgeous, enjoyable, fantastic books!! I read Bioluminescence and Moth as ebook, but I prefer physical books over reading digital. It's easier on my eyes, and my brain has thing which assigns objectives to my devices. None of my devices are for reading and my brain says no to that. More importantly, they look so pretty on my shelf 😍💜🥰

I'm not the greatest at hyping myself up or building suspense/anticipation about what i do. In other (simpler) words, i suck at marketing. BUT, with my trilogy nearing its end, with book three in the beginning phases of its final draft, I believe it's time to share what the hell it's called. I'm tired of saying "book 3 this" and "book 3 that"! So, without further ado

WIP update for book three of The Black Throne trilogy except I don't know the specifics this time around haha.

I'm in the final stretch of chapters, so about five more. However, I'm nowhere near my word count goal, which means I've got lots to add during the first round of editing (my goal is around 160k).

The biggest theme for the entire book has been an every other chapter love-hate relationship, and I'm sick of it. My overall satisfaction with book 3 is low, and I'm concerned I won't be able to publish this year like I hoped. Not to mention finding beta's who've read book 1 and 2 or are willing to read them.

On a happier note, once I'm done writing draft 3, I will be revealing the title for this book!

"Right person, wrong time"

Nah. It was the right person and the right time but all good things must come to an end.

I wonder which is worse. The work of bittersweet fate. Or that the ending was already set in stone.

Get it? Cuz he's coyote beastman (half blood)? So, he's..... like a dog. Though, beastmen or not, I carry the whole dog/mutt thing throughout the series. Like, you follow orders like an obedient dog. Or, the most prominent, Malice has quite the lineage, so he's called mutt. Funny thing is, I didn't do it on purpose. It started as a half serious half joke from one of the characters towards Malice in book one (if he didn't say it himself) which unfolded into a whole motif that applies to multiple characters in different ways.

More importantly, the hand belongs to his lover Pich, a nonbinary, ace, sunshine fairy who wooed Lycn by smacking him when he was being an ass.

Did I make every book title in my trilogy not only have significance toward the book but to the series itself, and tie the chapter header art to overlapping themes and motifs throughout, and change the map to fit the books main location because of the lore behind it, and killed off a certain character so they could haunt every choice thereafter?
