barty crouch junior is twisted, but there is more to him.

i understand that it's appealing to turn barty into this rebellious, crazy, fucked-up version that he will later become. aren't we missing out on the chance to give barty some kind of character development that connects his later actions to what this character experiences and suffers? for me, it's much more interesting if barty isn't the fucked-up slytherin version of sirius, but deals differently with the challenges presented to him in childhood and adolescence in a way where he initially tries to live up to what his father presumably demands of him. doesn't it have much more potential if the friendship with evan and regulus influences and changes him, perhaps giving him power and influence? we have the chance to tell how barty becomes the death eater we later get to know (and who, in his twisted way and unlike many others, is brilliant). please, give this character a dimension or two

We always talk about how James thinks he is too much and Regulus thinks he’s not enough, but may I propose the opposite? James, who is constantly living for others, afraid that he isn’t good enough for them so he burns himself out trying to be energetic and positive, while there’s Regulus, who is afraid that talking about his emotions and feelings too much will scare people away and will make them realize how different he really is from the rest of them, so he shuts himself out.

Regulus has a fear of being too much, that’s why he is so closed off. James is afraid of not being enough, that’s why he puts himself out there

Evan stopped Barty in the doorway, “You're drunk. Stay somewhere else.”

Barty recoiled, “Excuse me?” 

“You need to go.”

“Don't tell me what to do.” He shot back.

“You know, maybe I’d be nicer if you weren’t drinking yourself to death.”

“Oh, fuck this. I'm leaving. I’ll be the good guy and turn the other cheek.”

“The good guy? You're always manipulating me!”

“Bullshit! I’m not the one kickin’ you out!”

“You just always need a reaction from me. Why? Does it get you off? Is that it? Is it some sick fantasy of yours?”

“Shut up!” Barty shouted.

Evan kept going, “Why me, huh? I'm the only one you do this to. Does making me angry turn you on? Did it finally click that you're just a pathetic, sadistic, closeted little-”

“SHUT THE FUCK UP!” Barty's words echoed in the silent room. He sighed, “You're right. I- I don't know how to... I'm in love with you, okay?” He blurted, "And I hurt you because it was easier than facing the truth."

It was a while before Evan managed to speak,

"You love me?" He whispered. Barty nodded,

"I always have."

Evan blew out a breath, “I love you too... Even though you’re a fucking maniac.”

Barty snorted, his eyes filled with tears, "Like you aren't just as crazy."

They jumped when a voice came from nowhere,

“Finally.” Regulus groaned, “I’ve been waiting for three years.”

“When the fuck did you get here?”

Regulus rolled his eyes, “I’ve been here all morning, nitwit. I’m still waiting for you idiots to kiss.”

Evan looked back to find Barty was already staring, he looked nervous. 

Evan didn’t hesitate, surging forward to kiss the absolute mess of a fucking man that he loved with all his heart.

Sure, they were toxic, maybe even a little insane. But somehow, they worked. And what kind of love isn’t a little crazy?

Walburga and Orion realistically never would’ve allowed for either child to live in the shadow of the other. A Black eclipsed by anyone, even another Black, would’ve been a disgrace.

You think they would’ve favoured Regulus if he’d been a weak, blushing and trembling kid hiding behind his brother? No, they simply excelled in different areas.

Sirius was all charm and charisma, knew when to laugh and smile, turned heads upon entering a room, left them wanting more — could’ve been the perfect heir had he only wanted it. Regulus was cold cunning and heartless manipulation, had people fearing and respecting him since he was 12 and loved it. He didn’t have to say a word, by 17 one look from him had people agreeing to anything. He was the perfect heir because he enjoyed the game.

The Blacks were power hungry maniacs, imagine how incredibly fucked Regulus had to be to be their favourite. How deranged did he have to be to be chosen by Voldemort at 16. This man treads the line of irredeemability with a smile

I feel like Evan is completely numb to emotions

no matter how much you irritate him, you won't make him mad

when you say something funny the most you can expect is for him to lift the corner of his mouth

when you tell him the most tragic, heartbreaking news, he will just stare at you with a blank look

he is a stoic, dangerously resembling a sociopath

but his emotions actually find an outlet... in Pandora

she has always been very emotional

but over time she noticed that sometimes she would get furious for no reason, or start crying uncontrollably, or be terrified...

thanks to their connection she always knew how Evan felt

and one day... she felt an incredible warmth enveloping her body, absolute bliss, as if she were a little lighter and could move with greater ease...

it was indescribably pleasant, and she knew the feeling well - she always felt this way in Xeno's presence

so she immediately ran to the dungeons to find out who Evan suddenly fell in love with

she rushed into the boys' dormitory and saw Evan fighting with Barty

Barty was straddling Evan and just happened to punch him in the face, splitting his lip. Blood began to ooze down his face, covering Barty's fist.
