They had opposite schedules. They texted more than they even spoke. Things always felt awkward. Not because they wanted it to be this way, but because they didn’t know where to go next.

But, Buck needed a place to stay, and Tommy said yes.

(Part 2)

Buck sat on Eddie’s steps, the sun creating a glare on his phone as he stared at the screen, finger hovering over the send button.

He didn’t feel like he would ever find some place to call home, but he felt like he could always call on Tommy. And yet, that fear of rejection creeping up on him made his hand shake as he held his phone.

Buck eventually forced his finger down on the send button, heart rate accelerating when the word Delivered appeared beneath the message.

He could feel his stomach twisting and turning in knots when Tommy started bubbling him.

Then he stopped. Why did he stop. Oh no. Why did he—

Buck sighed in relief when he finally received a reply.

The spare room… Buck couldn’t explain the complex feelings this brought on. They weren’t back together. Nor did they even talk about how much it hurt when Tommy left the first time, or how badly Buck screwed things up the second time.

But, Buck needed a place to stay, and Tommy said yes.

I need a fanfic where everyday after four am training, Jamie sends a “Roy-cast” to the team chat letting them know Roy’s general mood for the day and what he predicts practice is going to look like for the day.

When Roy takes over as gaffer, he stops the private training with Jamie to avoid accusations of favoritism. Within two weeks the team beg him to start back up again because:

1) him and Jamie are sniping at each other again and while it’s not loan season bad, it’s making everyone anxious and clearly the two of them need that time together to get it out of their system everyday, and more importantly,

2) they need the Roy-cast back because it’s fucking with everyone’s breakfast choices and now Will doesn’t know when to have extra towels ready or to make a larger batch of sport drink.

its genuinely fascinating that some people want to pretend like theres not a problem in fandom/media of a massive preference for male characters. like objectively its not good, thats why theres been such a push for well written fully realized female characters in media nowadays, i mean you look back the amount of shows/movies with (almost) entirely male casts is kind of stunning. a single token female character whos idk killed for the male protags story. representation matters, just bc its just "women" doesnt mean writing stories about women doesnt matter.

Middle-aged Steve, Eddie, Robin, and Nancy definitely have a group chat once Apple introduces it. They actually love it because it makes it way easier to stay in touch while Robin and Nancy travel.

Steve and Eddie's three daughters are usually the main topic of conversation.

As is the case one morning in October 2013:

Steve: Which one of you got my children to call froot loops gay cheerios

His text is accompanied by a video taken in their kitchen that starts with Steve, behind the camera, asking, “Wait - what did you guys want for breakfast?”. Robbie and Hazel giggle from their seats at the counter as they respond, “Gay cheerios, please,“ and “yeah, gay cheerios.”

Steve's long sigh is cut off when the video ends.

Nancy: Not me.

Steve: I know

Eddie: definitely not me

Eddie: Apple Jacks are way gayer than froot loops

Robin: ???

Robin: in what world are Apple Jacks gayer than Froot Loops?

(Part 1)

Buck hadn’t set foot in Tommy’s house in months, but when he opened the door, it seemed like it hadn’t changed at all, at first glance.

The house still had a warmth to it that you could feel upon entering. The smell of sandalwood wafted into his nose, just as he remembered. The stubborn light switch in the entryway still needed two clicks before it would turn on.

And that same pair of shoes Tommy told Buck he was planning to toss forever ago still remained by the door.

Everything around him was rapidly changing, but he felt a sense of comfort in knowing at least Tommy’s house remained the same.

Some things were different, though. Small things. Tommy had new books on his coffee table and a lot less food in the fridge than usual.

Buck considered shopping.

Buck let out a heavy sigh, damning himself for almost falling into old habits again. He had to fight the urge to send the usual heart emoji with his message.

Tommy’s “like” reaction to his message was a vicious reminder that nothing was the same.
