neo i clicked on ur link to With the Light and binge read like half the series for the past 4 hours. PLEASE tell me ur thoughts abt this series im in love with it !!! the framing of hikaru's issues as inherently blameless is amazing to see, and the focus on letting hikaru enjoy what he likes and letting him choose/listening to all the ways he communicates made me so happy. the way sachiko firmly refuses to let people be ableist or mistreat hikaru is so refreshing, and her patience and intentional care and observation ends up encouraging other people to stand up for themselves and build a lovely community of support and acceptance. i especially liked the incisive way they address people's condescending attempts at caring (the parents' talking down to sachiko, the teacher offering to make the races have no winners, etc). im so glad u posted abt this, i definitely never would have found it otherwise, and i would Love to hear ur thoughts ^_^
Dude!!!! I am so glad that you had read this series and enjoyed it, I'm SO thrilled that I finally was able to find a site where I could recommend it to people! I could spend hours talking about every single minute detail of this series that I love -- if I tried to talk about it here, I'd probably break the text box lmao. I keep trying to break it down to broad strokes and failing, I love the characters, I love the narrative, I love the educational aspects and the way it handles all these different topics and the fact that throughout the series, the thing that always comes through the loudest to me is a deep felt love of Autistic people and the Hope that one day the world as a whole will change to accept us as we are.
Tumblr media
Hikaru isn't the POV character, but this series never falls into the mistake of forgetting that he is a character. There's no Symbolic Representation here (see Jessie Gender's video on this topic for more on that); Hikaru isn't just a walking DSM checklist of autistic traits -- he is a full person with likes, dislikes, interests, friendships, and even with his autistic traits, they're unique and specific to him instead of a broad attempt to make him carry the whole of the spectrum on his shoulders. (That's one of many aspects where I think the choice of narrative really works for the series -- having one family move through a variety of different schools, services, and organizations means that there's ample opportunity to introduce a wide range of characters that can highlight different traits, behaviors, and points on the spectrum without it being overly pointed or confusing).
And the series is always sympathetic to his perspective; we never really get into Hikaru's head, but the characters and the narrative still absolutely ooze an empathy for his experiences throughout the series. The characters often talk about not only the stress of having autistic children, but the stress of being an autistic child. They talk about sensory experiences as being overwhelming and painful, they identify the struggle to identify your surroundings as scary, discuss how frustrating it must feel to not be able to express yourself effectively. Sometimes it's speculative -- although they do also sometimes talk about having read things that actually autistic people have written about being autistic, but the core empathy is always present. Even when discussing something frustrating or dangerous (a mother talking about how her daughter sometimes tries to run into the street because she likes the white painted lines on the road), they still often take the time to consider and empathize with their children's point of view ("If the whole world was confusing and overwhelming, then it must be a relief to find something to look at that always stays the same").
Tumblr media
and YEAH i love the way this series handles communication. Again, the narrative works in its favor on this topic, because Hikaru doesn't have to be someone who uses a shit tonne of different communication methods; they found what works for him and stick with it, but can also talk to other parents/educators about all the options that exist out there. The series goes into depth about a lot of different methods of communication, all of which are celebrated and accepted - deliberate use of direct speech, more abstract use of verbal speech, PECs cards, AAC technology, written directives and lists people can point to, type to talk, nonverbal gestures, body language, etc.
Tumblr media
But to me, the most important conversation about communication is a moment when Hikaru's elementary school teacher Aoki is talking about another autistic student in his class. He is talking to the children's mothers, and pulls up his sleeve to reveal an injury on his arm from where Miyu bit him -- "Whenever I see this, I realize that I'm not communicating with Miyu-chan in a way she understands". Not only is Miyu "Allowed" to bite without being punished, but the biting itself is not dismissed as an aberrant "bad behavior" that needs correction, but is correctly identified as a method of communication that the allistic adults around her need to listen to. Miyu cannot talk and she's too little to read or write, she can only communicate her frustrations in the few, limited options available to her -- until she's able to learn how to express herself in more effective ways, it's important for the people around her to pay attention and actively listen to the ways through which she can express herself -- including in strange or "inconvenient" ways, such as biting.
Tumblr media
And the very deliberate ways they teach Hikaru how to communicate is also Super fucking important. It's really significant to me that the first things Sachiko wants to work with Hikaru on are 1.) How to express needs/wants and 2.) How to tell her "No". For the series to correctly identify that the ability to tell someone "No" is not only a right, but an absolutely vital life skill is SO significant. Not only does Sachiko accept the idea that Hikaru will tell her no, she takes deliberate steps to teach him how to do so. The series goes into depth on how Sachiko (and Hikaru's other caregivers/educators) help teach him how to correct them when they screw up, how to ask for things he needs and reject things he doesn't, how to set his own boundaries and communicate his needs and dislikes -- no matter what that communication looks like.
Tumblr media
I love that the series and the characters' main focus is never on getting Hikaru to "fit in" to society, but to figure out how to live a life that works for him, that allows him to be as independent as possible, no matter what other people think about how it looks for him. Another really important moment in the series for me is when Hikaru's grandmother is saying that the progress he's made since he was a small child isn't good enough, and when she asks "What happens to children like him?" Sachiko is absolutely stalwart when she says "He'll grow up, and become a young man with autism" and DUDE i love that so much. Not a single hint of the notion that he'll either be infantilized forever or somehow grow out of his autism, it fully embraces the fact that he'll be an autistic adult and remains adamant that that's a good thing!!!
Tumblr media
Again, I could talk about this forever. I love that the series always empathizes with Hikaru's meltdowns and never just dismisses them as "tantrums", and when other characters talk about meltdown prevention, it's never in terms of "Well, we need to figure out how to force Hikaru to get used to X", it's always in terms of "I should have realized he was reaching a breaking point before things got that bad; we need to help Hikaru learn tools to calm down and make sure he knows how to establish boundaries and leave situations that aren't good for him". With the right adults, Hikaru is always able to leave an overwhelming situation and not return until he has decided he's calm enough to try again - no one pushes him to recover faster than he's ready to. I think there's one scene in the entire series when two adults who don't know what they're doing try to restrain Hikaru during a meltdown, and every other time Hikaru reaches that point, the other characters make sure to give him ample space to calm down without overwhelming him further.
Tumblr media
I love the ways this series handles ableism in all of its forms. It addresses ableism that comes from ignorance, from malice, and from places that are "well-meant" in really educational and helpful ways. I love love love the way the series normalizes disability when explaining it to children -- there's a few moments throughout the series where other kids mock Hikaru, but the adults handle it so wonderfully. The "Hikaru struggles to talk the same way you struggle to run a marathon" explanations do so much to make disability just a normal thing, instead of some awful secret that you're never allowed to address directly. I think it's really wonderful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think this post is getting too long, tumblr is getting mad at me lol. There's still so much I'd love to talk about: I love how the author includes so many lovingly illustrated panels of Hikaru stimming, I love that his family is allowed to be frustrated without that frustration ever coming across in a way that demonizes Hikaru, I love the relationship that he has with his younger sister, I love all of the friendships that he's made and maintained since he was a toddler, I love the "It takes a village" approach that really highlights the significance of having a good support system, and I love all the different people that come together to help teach Hikaru and make sure that his dignity and independence are always prioritized. I love the little details of Hikaru's character like the way that he's really good at identifying/taking care of plants, and his love of dolphins, and the way he repeats the things his friends say to him to hold onto the thoughts after they go home/back to class. I even love how some of the teachers that Hikaru has in school aren't always great at their jobs (I actually think the Gunji-sensei arc is one of my favorites in the whole series), and I love all the side characters that the series introduces us to, and the care that the author has when educating readers about autism and all the different aids/accommodations that can make life easier and less frustrating/painful.
UGH I really do love this series so much, I'd happily keep talking about it and answering questions about it for forever! If my ramblings have encouraged anyone else to give the series a shot, I'll leave you with this: the first two chapters are the hardest to get through because Sachiko and Hikaru are extremely isolated and Sachiko does not understand what Autism is yet -- if you're hesitant about it, you can skip to chapter three where things start to look up a little more sharply and start there instead, and please continue to read through the rest of the series. It's truly one of my favorite autism medias of all time <3

Just saw someone call AO3 a "cp-website" and I'm gonna just-
Tumblr media
Like I know every time the Archive has a fundraiser some people will crawl out of the woodworks and spout bullcrap, but geez-
If you don't like AO3, fine, that's your opinion. But don't call it a "cp-website", nor demonize people who donate to their fundraiser, from which a large part of the funds goes to KEEPING THE SERVERS AND HAVING PROPER LEGAL PROTECTION.
You know one of the main reasons why AO3 was created? Because in the "old days", if someone didn't like the fact that you, I dunno, wrote some wholesome gay fic online, they could report it and you might just lose your whole fic without warning, because think of the children, right? And to really put icing on the cake, your account might be deleted too. 🙃
Or, like I experienced, it won't just be one or three reports that get your fic taken down. Critics United for example was a group of these ~lovely~ people who would go on people's fics and suggest (harass) the author on how to change their fic to be "improved upon" (aka sanitize the fuck out of it so there is no trace of what they saw as gross/bad/wrong/cringe/sinful/etc.). If they didn't manage to harass you into deleting, they'd just mass report you.
I got literal death and rape threats for writing a Spamano version of Beauty and the Beast, told I was a criminal and that my parents should've killed me in my crib.
ALL OVER A STUPID LITTLE SELFINDULGENT FIC.
They even went so far as to track my username down from Fanfiction.net to Wattpad, and only once I got it on AO3 was the story able stay up because they had no way of harassing or reporting me like they could before, because I could easily turn my comments off to "registered users only" or even to "moderate comments." and that scared them off.
This was in 2016 by the way. Not even a decade ago. Now I could even block people if I want on AO3, so it gets harder to harass me, even if I did care.
But like yes, I agree on the fact that fics with cp are allowed on the site is rather gross. I would never write nor read it. But you know what helps with this?
AO3 HAS THIS TAGGING SYSTEM IN WHICH YOU CAN TAG AND FILTER OUT THE THINGS YOU DON'T LIKE, SUCH AS FICS WITH THE UNDERAGE WARNING :D
And guess what? It works great! I never have to see fics with cp in it, because I filter my fics. And even if I see that I accidentally clicked on a fic like that? I click out of the page and move the fuck on.
People on AO3 can and have written the most repulsive shit known to man, but more often than not, it's tagged with big warnings in the description. I have read cringy and horrifying fics that still made me nauseous to think back on, that have changed how I look at certain characters. And guess what?
THEY STILL DESERVE TO EXIST AND BE READ BY OTHERS.
Besides, there is a very fine line as to what some people define concepts like cp. Like I define it as minors being forced/manipulated into sexual situations, while others might look at an adult anime character who looks like a little kid and say that they shouldn't be sexualized. We are both correct in our own digital space there.
I don't like "shota/lolita" nsfw stuff, others do, and so I am just letting those people be and I avoid that content. Same with scat, or watersports, or cnc. Avoid, click away, goodbye. I don't demand that all "they look young but they're actually an adult!" types of media should be banned, nor that people who enjoy (reading about) sex with bodily fluids should be publically shamed, or that people who consentually enjoy the dark fantasty of being forced should be treated like an actual rapist.
And that's really what this is about. Don't like it, don't read/look at it. This whole "but they are allowing xyz and I don't like that!!" argument is basically becoming the same right-wing argument as "but I see xyz as wrong/bad/a sin and therefor nobody should be allowed to enjoy it."
If AO3 were to be forced to ban one thing, like people dealing with their childhood SA by writing a fic about it, who is to say they won't be forced to ban something like CNC next? What about kink? Queerness? Because that is the road a lot of right-wing people want you antis to take.
It's a main reason AO3 has fundraisers. For the servers to stay up. For legal support when a company claims fanfic is bad. For times that those things might get more expensive to maintain.
And because AO3 is of the few websites that allow everyone, especially queer people, to make art and have that art be protected from those that wish to destroy anything they do not like. And yes, that protection includes protecting work made by "bad" people.
So chill, skip over that fic you don't want to see, don't donate to or interact with AO3 if you don't want to, and maybe touch some grass? That would be great.
Rant over uwu

Make Them Sparkle
(fanfic, oneshot)
Summary:
If Raphael had any say in this, Magnus would not be allowed to give mundanes writing advice. Ever.
Magnus prided himself on being a person who went with, and adapted to the ever changing times.
He had witnessed many immortals who got stuck in particular time periods. Be it refusing to adopt new fashion trends, or remaining stagnant in certain behaviors or mindsets that had been common at one point in history. Bemoaning how things ‘used to be so much better back in the day’. People who needed to anchor themselves in the past, in order to face the present and future.
Not Magnus, though. While he treasured many of the memories made during his long existence, he had always been the type to look forward, instead of back.
He had seen and embraced the progress humanity made, philosophically, technologically, and socially.
And, while the road of progression hadn’t always been a smooth one and weathered its fair share of hiccups along the way, Magnus certainly appreciated the fruits of this particular labor.
(And not only mundanes, but the shadow world, too, had come a long way from what it had once been. Magnus would never not be proud of the part his dearest Alexander and his friends and family had played in that development.)
Anyway, being a "modern" warlock, and having personally supported some of the various technological marvels of the world they now lived in, Magnus had a deep appreciation for the internet.
A way for so many people from so many different places and stages of life to come together, to connect and share with each other, was truly remarkable.
There was almost nothing that the internet didn’t have, unless it connected to matters of the shadow world, but even that was slowly changing.
From funny videos and beautiful music, to shops and art and so much more.
Websites tailored to specific hobbies or tastes. Sites to find employment, or living accomodations. Those that gave the user an opportunity to make friends, or find love.
And, of course, so called help-forums. Professionally or community run sites, spanning various topics all around offering advice when someone needed it.
Like one particular writing forum for aspiring authors, which Magnus had found himself in one sunny afternoon, as he had been browsing aimlessly to waste some time.
One of the requests had caught his eye especially.
‘Please help me bring fresh wind into old supernatural lore!’
Clicking on the request and reading further, Magnus had learned that the hopeful author was trying to write a teen love story with vampires and werewolves, revolving around a highschool mundane girl and her vampiric love interest, as well as a werewolf contender.
Magnus had snorted, thinking the idea hardly original, and had almost clicked away again, but one sentence had stood out.
‘Vampire love stories are a dime a dozen, I’m well aware of that. But while plot and circumstances often change around the different narratives, the lore and rules behind the vampires rarely do. It’s always a thirst and need for blood, a weakness to religious artifacts, and an inability to bear sunlight. That last one especially, I wish to change for my story, as I feel that describing a whole world that most humans are unaware of, and plays mostly in the dark, is terribly restrictive. But I also think that just waving any effect the sun might have on a vampire away, is a missed opportunity for exploring alternative plot points. Which is why I’m asking for any kind of inspiration or thoughts any of you might be willing to share.’
So Magnus had read on as the author had described their world and characters in a little more detail.
And upon learning of the broody, dark haired, stubborn, kind and compassionate main vampire character, Magnus couldn’t help it when his brain had made the comparison between a fictional character, and his very own favorite broody, dark haired, stubborn, kind and compassionate vampire.
And as he was thinking of his dear little Raphael, the vampire he had taken under his wing decades ago and practically raised (even though Raphael had been 24 and fully adult by mundane standards when he had been turned), Magnus hadn’t been able to curb his more mischievous impulses.
Clicking on the answering function to the thread, he had snickered heavily as he typed out just three words.
‘Make them sparkle!’
Who would have thought that, just a few years later, this little bit of innocent fun he had had, would come back to interrupt his sexy make out session with his precious shadowhunter boyfriend?
“Magnus!” The door slammed open and shut in barely more than a second, as an incensed Raphael stormed into the loft.
A lifetime of training and battle ready instincts had Alec lift Magnus off his lap and behind him in just one move (which was so fucking hot, if not for their unplanned intruder, Magnus would have climbed his boyfriend like a tree), as his other hand seemlessly went down to quickly retrieve the throwing knife strapped to his lower leg.
The defensive maneuver was aborted as soon as Alec registered who had just barged into the apartment, and instead the tall man slumped back into the couch (careful not to crush his boyfriend) with a deep, slightly annoyed, sigh.
Raphael though reacted to neither the knife that had almost been thrown at him, nor the glare the shadowhunter was giving him right then.
Instead, he held up the book he had in hand and snarled in Magnus' direction. “What the fuck is this?!”
Magnus blinked, still trying to sort through the haze of his newly ignited arousal after Alexander’s display of strength and speed, and the clearly agitated mood Raphael seemed to be in.
“It’s called a book, my dear. It holds in its pages the wonder of the written word and thus the power to create wonderful and fascinating tales for all to share.”
If anything, that answer made Raphael look even more mutinous. Which was just rude, if anyone were to ask Magnus.
“I know what a book is!”
Magnus huffed, finally straightening himself out of the mess of limbs he had been from Alexander’s manhandling him to safety (And they would have a talk about that later. As hot as that had been, Magnus couldn’t have his Alexander trying to shield him while facing a threat on his own.)
“Then why did you ask?”
Raphael could apparently not be bothered to explain, and instead just chucked the book at him. Once again shadowhunter reflexes trumped Magnus' own, and Alec snatched the book out of the air before it could hit the warlock.
He scrunched up his nose a little (which was adorably cute in Magnus’ humble opinion and he quickly leant forward a bit to peck Alec on the cheek) as he read the title. “Twilight?”
It made Magnus smirk. “Oh, I think I have heard of this. A supernatural teen romance novel, if I remember Biscuit’s words correctly. I must be honest, my dear boy, I didn’t think this would be your type of thing.”
But the vampire just crossed his arms over his chest. “Open it up to the introduction.”
A little puzzled, but also curious, Alec and Magnus did just that. It appeared to be just your ordinary preface to any book.
‘I thank everyone who has supported me through this, bla bla bla, I’m incredibly honored and grateful for this opportunity to share bla bla bla, I hope this tale will find a way into your heart bla bla bla.’
Really; pretty standard as far as the warlock was concerned. Until they reached the last section on the introductory page, and it slowly dawned on Magnus just why Raphael looked as if he had been forced to listen to Simon ramble about a deep introspection on why Spider-Man was the best Marvel superhero ever.
Oh.
‘I would like to give special thanks to someone I unfortunately have never met personally, but whose input has definitely helped to inspire me to spice things up a bit. So this is to you, The_Magnificent_Bane. I “made them sparkle”!’
“Oh.”
“Oh?” Raphael thundered. “That’s all you have to say to this? You told this woman to make her vampires sparkle in the sunlight like some demented disco ball! We don’t sparkle! The only sparkly crazy person around here is you! Do you have any idea what the stupid flea balls are going to say when they learn of this? Are you laughing? Stop laughing! There is going to be so many glitter jokes in my future now thanks to you! I’m never gonna hear the end of this! Magnus! Stop laughing!”
Magnus stopped laughing. Eventually.

Seriously, backing all these Niet posts.
If you have to be repeatedly told to stop acting out by your own staff, multiple times over the course of several years, because you have repeatedly been passive aggressive and inflammatory towards your own userbase, you have a problem. The amount of times that another mod has had to come in like "we have spoken to Niet about his tone in these posts and don't agree with him," is honestly embarrassing. It's at that point that you should be able to realize you need to change something about yourself. Once is a mistake; a bad day, misunderstood tone, whatever. Multiple times spanning years with no change in behavior is a lack of personal responsibility and respect for others.
Niet, you run a site targeted at children.
There is a reason the rules are aimed to make the site child-friendly. A site owner that talks down to people, is passive aggressive, cannot take criticism in a healthy manner, etc. Should not be the one interacting with kids, who are often going to disagree with choices for silly reasons, want things without considering the consequences, and not understand things.
People can't come to you about their opinions because when they do, they get condescending replies on public forums, spoken down to like they're brainless, and completely ignored because despite the fact that the users are the ones keeping the site afloat by playing, what you want is always more important and you know better than the people it would affect the most. (But hint: if people aren't having fun, they aren't going to keep playing. It has never been just about the "longevity" of the game, which keeps being brought up as an excuse to make things harder for new players. A game that is stretched out for the sake of being stretched out is boring, and people aren't going to want to play it.)
And if that's how people are treated in public (humiliated, essentially) when they criticize your decisions, nobody is going to want to speak to you about it in private. That's for damn sure.
Criticism isn't toxicity. People saying they will leave the game if things change for the worse is not guilt tripping or emotional manipulation. It is part of running a fucking website and being responsible for the happiness of your users. If they're not happy, they will leave. That's business. Either grow up and learn to deal with criticism in a healthy manner instead of doubling down and insulting others, or get someone who knows what they're getting into when running a website to run it.
I'm going to leave this as the last post of the night and hope Niet checks this blog upon waking. Maybe he will actually read it and take it to heart. Because man, that would be nice.

Hope’s Meadow (Inc) *Mirror’s Edge*
I LIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE! hiya everyone E here! still kicking and alive.
So this chapter is exceedingly late. I got busy during December and honestly a lot of people who i don't normally see came by to visit and such. I did write actually but those were personal gifts to my friends involving their own ocs and worlds and all that jazz and I didn't feel right posting them because they're not mine. So yeah i was writing i promise I just can't share them. But I'm here now.
I get it. It's a lot right now and I want you to know it's okay. It'll be okay. Even if it doesn't feel that way. Just take it a step at a time, have fun when you can and enjoy the little things. Step away and lose yourself in a story. Doesn't have to be mine but I would appreciate it. haha be safe, take care of yourself and your loved ones. Wear a mask. I know. And for those of us departing here, have a great day!
Summary: It's time to get to work and Casey is eager to get on the trail. First stop, after breakfast of course, is to visit the local cemetery and hopefully get the information out of some spirits. In the meantime a few more lessons about the other side wouldn't hurt especially if Casey wants to survive.
-----
“So.” Casey asked eagerly as he placed their order on the table before them “Verdict?”
Yorrick shot the young man working the cash register a disinterested glance before hungrily picking up her breakfast bagel “My-something was way cuter.”
Turns out Casey was both right and wrong: This trendy fast food coffee shop HAD once upon a time been a sandwich shop. Evidently it was recently bought by A Taste Of Faire, some sort of medieval themed coffee...thing. Honestly Casey wasn’t sure what to make of it and he was too hungry to care.
Casey took his own breakfast in hand“Hope’s Meadow is around corner. We’ll finish up and head over.”
Yorrick was too enraptured by her meal to give any meaningful answer beyond a nod.
Casey chuckled before taking a bite himself.
The two ate in a surprisingly comfortable silence, a quiet that was both peaceful and oddly relaxing.
“I have a question.” Casey finally spoke after a few minutes of consuming his burrito “Do all you-know-whats look like bed sheets?”
Yorrick titled her head sideways “Youknowwhats? What’s that?”
Casey’s gaze shifted to Kal. The ghostly companion floated openly in public, his translucent form bobbing up and down in the sun.
“Umm….” He gestured with his eyes.
“The window?” Yorrick turned her head, unsure what she was looking at.
“N-no. Umm….your friend.” Casey patiently clarified.
Yorrick stared blankly at him
Casey pursued his lips, unsure how to further ask Yorrick about her ghostly friend.
“Oh!” Realization struck as Yorrick’s ghostly greens went wide “You mean Kal?” she motioned to him with her thumb.
Casey could feel his ears burn as he felt the pointedly stares of the other customers at Yorrick’s outburst.
Yorrick remained oblivious “I wouldn’t know I’ve always been able to see them as they were. They look like people to me. I guess it’s the closest concept your brain can perceive their form to be.”
Casey bristled at the idea “Wait but I know about death. I experienced it when my grandma died. I’m pretty sure I would know what a ghost looks.”
“I blame all those cartoons. Bed sheets are simpler to draw. Easier to remember.”
“But I’ve been to funerals.” Casey frowned “I’ve mourned, I’ve grieved. How can I not see ghosts?”
Yorrick chewed her food slowly “Well yeah but have you talked about death? Really come to terms with what it means to die?”
An uncomfortable tingle ran down Casey’s spine as the idea began to swirl in his thoughts. Fear and uneasy prickled at him and he struggled to keep his face indifferent.
“See?” Yorrick pointed with her half-eaten sandwich “You haven’t accepted it.”
“I….”
Yorrick interrupted “I get it. It’s not a very fun thing to talk about. The mere mention of death kills any conversation.”
There was a pause before her lips broke into a smile.
“Haha death kills any conversation.”
And with that the Gravekeeper of Souls descended into a fit of giggles.
Casey opened his mouth to speak but no words came out. There was a strange mixture of embarrassment and shame burning in him. He was sure she didn’t mean it like that but he felt somehow she was making fun of him, laughing at a joke only she understood.
“Oh that was so lame.” she wiped a tear from her eye.
“Yorrick…”
She stopped and eyed Casey carefully.
“Oh I’m sorry.” Yorrick sheepishly smiled “I didn’t mean to make you so uncomfortable. It was a funny joke! To me at least.”
Casey gave a strained smile “Oh it was. I was just wondering.”
“About?”
“What you said before the joke.”
“What I said.” She tapped her chin thoughtfully “What I said. Before the. Oh! About your inability to see ghosts and how that ties in with your lack of acceptance about dying.”
Conspiratorial whispers from the customers but Casey did his best to ignore it.
Yorrick straightened up “It’s a normal thing. Nothing to be ashamed of.”
“I’m not.” Casey began but Yorrick clicked her tongue in disagreement.
“I am not making fun of you. It’s perfectly natural for you, me, anyone not to want their story to end. The unknown is the scariest fear in all existence and what’s scarier than the great unknown that awaits us all after we leave our mortal coils?”
Yorrick gave a reassuring smile “It’s okay not want to talk about the end. But that’s what I mean. I could see how awkward it made you feel, the uncomfortable thoughts that came just mentioning the word.”
Casey shifted in embarrassment.
“And I don’t think less of you for it.” Yorrick patted his shoulder “Because we’re all fighting for every extra second. And we should! Fight death tooth and nail. But with acceptance comes perception. Because spirits are entwined closely and tightly tied with death. You cannot remove one from the other.”
“So.” Casey began to realize what she meant “Because I don’t want to talk or think about it, my brain shuts out anything tied to it and that’s why I can’t see ghosts? Is that right?”
Yorrick gave a quick nod “Bueno! Estrella de oro para ti!”
“Umm excuse me?”
“Estrella.” Yorrick repeated, snapping her fingers in hopes of remembering the word “Estrella. You know. Es-tre-lla….Es-tre. Star! Gold star for you!”
“Oh okay.” Casey chuckled “I didn’t realize you knew Spanish though I’m guessing you know a lot of languages given how much you travel huh?”
Yorrick grinned proudly “Another gold star! Ghosts tend to stay stuck in their ways so to speak. And physically really. While they are capable of learning and adapting to their current…existence and settings, most just don’t and thus I need to learn how to communicate with them. Which means learning as many languages as I can.”
Casey nodded approvingly “That’s cool. Are you ready?"
Yorrick gave a salute, rising to full height with walking stick in one hand and the chain holding her tombstone in the other.
-----
Hope’s Meadow (Inc.) was the newest of the cemeteries that were inside the city proper and the only one to be blessed by a good-aligned cleric. Widow’s Weep up north was blessed by a cleric who followed the goddess of murder and Sunset Plains was covered by a cleric of chance. Casey wasn’t really sure who blessed Hope’s Meadow but he had a sneaking suspicion it was Doctor Carmichael.
Divinity and divine magic were interchangeable between the terms divine and holy. It had less to do with alignment or morals and more tapping into the positive or negative force of the gods. Every single paladin and cleric of any god could call upon the power and magic of their deity and have it considered divine. Casey was just as capable as any evil aligned cleric of drawing upon negative energy to harm others as a cleric of death was to draw up positive energy to heal or help others.
Honestly the only difference between the various paladins and clerics is the tenets of their god, a guideline to further their deities influence and power in this plane of reality. As a cleric of the Hearth, Casey believed in tending to the home, protecting others and caring for them as if they were family. There were many ways to act in the gods will but it was still a pretty rigid path. A goddess of murder tended to want murder done in her name, whether innocent or guilt-ridden blood did not matter to her. Casey’s god believed in devoting one’s self to others.
There were many benefits of course especially the free spellcasting. Clerics and Paladins didn’t know magic, not really. Instead their god of choice would guide their hand, providing them with the proper gestures and words to speak their magic into the world. No shortcuting powerful spells though. One still needed magical muscle to perform the higher levels of magic and the only way to build it up was to cast, cast, cast.
Blessing cemeteries was much about safety as it was a civic duty. Hallowed, blessed grounds prevent fae from entering and turning the place into their own personal playground. Shockingly, fae were pretty irreverent about everything.
It also prevented necromancers from raising an army of skeletons and zombies, a favorite pastime of theirs.
Most importantly, however, was the preservation of souls. Spirits were very valuable in all forms but especially in many dark spells. Blessing the ground not only prevents unsavory forces and creatures from wandering in but also offered a safe haven for any wayward spiritual beings. Even evil gods and goddesses agree that it would not be good for anyone if spirits were used to fuel terrible, dangerous unnatural magic.
It was still early so very few people were out and about here. Casey wasn’t exactly sure what Yorrick was up to but he figured it was better that less prying eyes were around to see it. Finn warned him the Council still hadn’t figured out what exactly the Veil blanketed or what it did not.
Yorrick stood in the middle of the walkway, her gaze fixated seemingly on some far horizon only she could see. She took a deep breath in before tapping her finger once against the top of her rusty lantern.
There wasn’t a muted thud like Casey was expecting but rather a single chime of a bell, a beautiful sound that vibrated the air itself with an ancient power. He could feel it wash over him, sending a chill down his spine and making his hairs stand on end.
The chime faded slowly but its effect was noticeable: The air was still but cold with a thick tension that had not been there a moment before. Hushed, hurried whispers echoed all around him while a fog rolled in from nowhere. A deep instinctive fear uncoiled itself in the pit of his stomach and the sudden urge to run far away from this place began to claw at his resolve.
Yorrick was unaffected. In fact she leaned closer, head tilted to one side as if listening to someone. She nodded a few times before murmuring something in return to the whispers.
It could’ve been his imagination but for a brief moment it sounded like the fog let out a sigh of relief and thinned ever so slightly.
------
It went on like this for an hour: Yorrick listened to the whispering of the invisible force and would speak in return. Sometimes it was a quick conversation, a few words back and forth. Other times it felt more like a heated debate as Yorrick spoke with a firm edge as if scolding to a fuming child. Once Yorrick only muttered a single word and a harsh breeze would pick up out of nowhere and vanished just as quickly.
Whatever Yorrick was doing did not consistently affect the mysterious fog that surrounded them. Mostly after each discussion (or scolding) the mist dissipated a bit. A few times, to him at least, it looked like nothing had changed.
“Yorrick?” Casey gently nudged her shoulder to get her attention.
Yorrick whirled around, clearly surprised “Oh Casey! Hi there. Sorry I didn’t really explain all” she gestured to thin air “This. I’m not used to people actually coming with me to work. Or watching me work. Or staying to watch me work.”
“That’s okay.” Casey reassured her gently “I take it you’re helping spirits move on?”
“Or updating them on the current year, events.” Yorrick added in “Or offering to pass along messages to their living loved ones.”
“The one with the breeze?”
Yorrick’s face turned deadly serious “Troublemaker. Well not anymore. Did you want to go do something else? I might be a while. Major city’s cemetery tends to have a large spiritual population and I don’t want you to sit around bored out of your mind.”
“Actually as I am a cleric I was thinking I could help you with all this. It is one of my duties though admittedly.” he looked around, unsure where to look “It is a little lacking and I might have trouble helping what I can’t see.”
“Don’t worry Casey I gotcha!”
Yorrick reached into her pocket, pulling a matchbox out. She struck the matchstick against the rough grooves of the box and lit the lantern. Orange flame burned a ghostly green within the lantern and crackled with a warm heat.
The light from the lantern washed over the fog and what was once cold frigid air became people. Different people and races surrounded them in a loose circle. Some floated midair lazily. Others had their feet planted firmly on the ground as they did when they breathed. Some were chasing each other in play, waiting impatiently for their turn. Translucent, pale spirits of various ages and walks of life. Normal people no different than anyone else Casey passed by every day.
Well except the giant knight that towered over everyone.
Casey knew his eyes went wide in shock and his mouth was agape though it was hard to blame him. This spirit wasn’t like the others: It was much more solid. While the others wore differing articles of clothing from across the ages, this spirit donned full armor, a sleek white shade that gleamed as bright as the sun. It was easily 8 feet tall with a shield half its size at the ready. Firmly planted in the grass was the hilt of an impossibly massive sword that Casey couldn’t ever hope to even budge. Two pure white wings held the spirit aloft The symbol of a scale emblazoned on its chest told Casey that Doctor Carmichael did not bless this place.
“Cleric of Justice.” Casey mumbled in awe “Okay. Eden maybe?”
Yorrick carefully pushed his shoulder “System shock buddy?”
“Yeah. The spirits I was expecting but.” He pointed to the massive armored spirit “Should’ve expected an angel and an archangel no less.”
“The gods do not mess when it comes to the spiritual world.” Yorrick stated matter of fact.
Casey took a deep breath in “Well we’re still alive. That’s good. C-can I get to work?”
Yorrick said nothing. Instead she gestured to the still shell shocked cleric and proceeded to speak with the next spirit in line.
A young man floated up to Casey and waited patiently. Upon realizing this, Casey shook focused on the task at hand.
“Y-yes?” Casey asked shakily, trying to ignore the massive archangel hovering overhead “How can I help you?”
"Hola senor! Mi nombre es…”
“Yorrrrrick! A little help!”
-----
One “English only” sign and a few hours later, Casey felt accomplished despite the fact he was unsure either of them had gotten any information about the crisis at hand.
He listened to the spirits, their questions and concerns. Their hopes and fears. Regrets and dreams long since passed. He offered comfort to them and prayed to the Hearth for them. Even cast the odd simple spell from time to time, a small blessing. He wasn’t very good at it if he was being honest but the spirits at the very least seemed to appreciate his efforts.
Some vanished just as they had done with Yorrick. The Gravekeeper explained that these spirits had chosen to move on with the next stage of their existence but could return if called. Some stayed, relived at Casey’s words but only floating off to wander the cemetery. Yorrick told him these spirits usually still had some sort of business left here, often waiting for their loved ones so they could move on together though some just liked Earth too much to leave. Still, informing them of current events was a good way to keep them calm and not lashing out in confusion.
He didn’t get any troublemakers thankfully though it seemed Yorrick did. She was ontop of it though, banishing the spirits with a single word before moving onto the next waiting in the wings. During their break Yorrick informed him that she simply forced them to move on. Unlike choosing to move on, however, it wasn’t permanent and they could easily return though it was difficult for any spirit. She did mention she could’ve made it a permanent eviction with the proper spells and rituals but these were normal people’s spirits and those extreme measures were saved for extreme cases.
Casey was curious on how exactly spirits were called back to this reality but luckily a family had saved Yorrick from explaining it.
It was a mother and her adult son visiting their father and husband. They brought him flowers and spent a few minutes cleaning his plaque. Casey wasn’t sure when he appeared but he did: an older fellow, translucent and ghostly like the others. They spoke of news and changes in their life with tears and grief in their eyes and while they couldn’t see him, he heard them. The old ghost cheered when told of good news and groaned at misfortune. He held them tight when the bad times came up and beamed with pride at their accomplishments. Perhaps some part of them could feel him because while they grieved, they felt more at peace. They hoped he was well and promised to visit soon. They left and so did the old ghost.
“Love.” Yorrick smiled softly at the family.
Casey smiled “Too powerful a force to be bound to a single memory.”
“He still sees them by the way.” Yorrick clarified “Watches over them from the other side. Most spirits don’t usually get enough strength to affect our lives but that one. Stubborn as a bull.”
“They still remember him at home.” Casey added in, piecing everything together “Their love keeps his memory alive.”
“And that allows him to watch over them. Even visit them there too.” Yorrick finished
Casey nodded in agreement but fell into silent contemplation.
There were still quite a few spirits wandering around but those were ones who had chosen to stay for the time being. It was nice and quiet, a peaceful calm filled the cemetery.
Casey decided to bite the bullet “Any leads on our end of the world event?”
Yorrick remained silent, her eyes searching for someone in particular but not finding them.
Casey was about to ask who she was looking for when he found a curious pair of eyes staring directly at him.
It was the spirit of a young boy, 6 maybe 8 years of age. It was hard to tell. There markings around his eyes and chin, messy lines and uneven patterns of tribal tattoos like the child had attempted to emulate some warrior’s markings. He had round chubby cheeks, seemingly never getting rid of his baby fat. He had a mess of black curly hair and he was an average frame for a boy his age. His bare arms had more messy tattoos running down them.
“Yorrick.” he nudged the distracted Gravekeeper “I think we got one more customer.”
Yorrick snapped her head in the direction Casey gestured, her eyes going wide with excitement as she bellowed at the top of her lungs “KAL!”
“Kal!?” Casey choked out, completely caught off guard by this revelation.
Kal did not move from his spot behind a headstone. He simply flickered out of existence and reappeared before them before Casey could even blink.
“How did he….?”
“Don’t let his appearance fool you Casey. He’s thousands of years old.”
Casey gulped upon realizing the implications of that statement.
Yorrick, completely obvious to Casey’s surprise, turned to her ghostly partner “Kal, what did you find out?”
Kal said nothing.
“The museum?” Yorrick tilted her head curiously “Are you sure?”
More silence.
Yorrick pursed her lips thoughtfully “Well that will be tricky but we’ve worked with worse!” She leapt to her feet, hoisting the tombstone onto her back with little effort “Come on Casey! We’re robbing museum!”
“That’s nice.” Casey groaned, struggling to resist the syrupy urge to sit back down “You know if Kal is thousands of years old, he must be insanely...wait. Did you say rob a museum?”
“Yep! Hurry up we’re burning daylight!”
And with a mad sprint, Yorrick waved goodbye to the spirits as she raced outside the cemetery gates.
Casey suddenly felt his legs turn to jelly.
“Sure. Just rob a museum. No pressure.” He mumbled to himself as he uneasily wobbled after Yorrick.

So to overall cover last weeks shenanigans and to cover the basics of what transpired, I’ll attempt to cover the things that are known and what is suspected. What’s said here is only by by what I’m aware of, and if anything claimed by the user was true they essentially may have made outrageous claims to twist the truth and garner more aid by lying. It is clear this user is still lurking around, and likely will pop back up in time but you get the idea. This post will be long so there will be a readmore. If you need to see evidence, it can be found within the tag itself or by searching around. This is meant to be informative, and up to the reader to decide upon the truth of what the situation was. It is by no means created to harass the user themself, or bother them in the future. Rather, it’s simply to tell what happened.
fairyfungirl was the average user who made aid posts, not something too uncommon on site and surely nothing that would make anyone wary of her. Generally speaking, aid posts are a common sight and people can decide if they wish to help people who ask for aid in raising funds for certain tragedies they faced or are facing. But unfortunately, as it came to be known, this user had a certain tactic going on that was less then favorable.
This will likely be my last post concerning the entire ordeal, until further things come forth I think we’ve had all we can for now.
Tl;dr: A story that had a stolen photo, constantly sending messages that often harassed people, and claims that seemed wildly unbelievable. Many users had experience with fairyfungirl, many who also had sent aid before things came to light.
Basically, fairyfungirl was mass messaging people who shared the aid post to ask them for funds. Generally, not all random messages are from people who want aid! Just don’t send tons of messages out all at once to people who shared your post. However, this user was doing just that and was also..Harassing people in these messages. By that I mean multiple messages send nearly constantly, occasionally blaming the receiver for anything bad that happened or guilting them because they didn’t help or declined helping.
But it didn’t stop there, either. fairyfungirl would also continually message those who had already helped, repeatedly asking for more money and being inconsistent in how much was needed to be covered. Understand that having a general idea of how much you need is required, and having an amount that’s constantly changing per message is going to bring some suspicion espically if it’s constantly getting higher after the initial amount sent. But then there was the reasons for needing aid that soon fell under suspicion too.
While I won’t go into too much detail due to the situation that was in the aid post, the relevant details was a child who had passed away and funds were needed to pay for burial. While this didn’t seem out of the ordinary, it’s the oddity that the story was almost constantly changing from this to many other things. But what started the investigation was when it was found out a photo being used as a mourning photo was stolen from somewhere else and was not the user in question.
It was then that outrageous claims began to be formed, like stating the user stating they ‘knew it was bad to steal the photo’ but it was ‘done out of desperation’ even though stealing photos from someone else doesn’t look all that well when aid is needed. Messages were still sent out to people, and remained nearly constant to likely a daily basis even if someone had politely declined to aid. The user denied doing what was stated, but several users have came forward to prove the mentioned claims.
In the end, there may have been some truths to the story and the user themself. But these truths were obscured by many other things, and actions that made it difficult to figure out what really was going on. Even now, no one can be certain where the facts remain. But perhaps, in the future, more will be found out.

HEYYY ITS ME MYSTERIOUS ANON WHO PROVIDED THE ESSAYS WORTH OF VSCEST SMUT CONTENT AND.
1. OTHER ANON, I SAW THAT TWITTER ART AND I *THINK* YOU'RE THE ARTIST AND JUST KNOW I ALMOST ACTUALLY CRIED (/POS) UPON SEEING IT. I DIDNT BUT I DID SCREAM INTO MY PILLOW FOR REAL THO WHEN I SAW THE YONJI ONE. I ACTUALLY GASPED IRL OUT OF JOY LIKE YOU HAVE NO IDEA
ahem. apologies for yelling!!! but 2. op please do NOT delete ur twitter post (unless You want to, ofc) of my writing!! it made me so very happy to see that you liked my stuff sm that you went thru the effort of putting it on another site- like that is SO heartwarming and kind tf?? 🥺💗❤💙🖤💚
BUT happy yelling aside, im here to do my job and provide more content for ye. of many flavors, actually!! but ill start w this one and then probably continue my insane vscest ramblings in other asks lmao. if you don't vibe with this Mashup of characters then feel free to ignore this :]] <3<3
so. tumblr user baashu. i saw that you were in a ronami mood on Bird App. so. hear me out, maybe. robin, nami, and reiju all have a sleepover (emphasis on the Sleep part, but no one other than those 3 has to know that ;]) on the sunny!! reijus visiting, as she does
and sanji, hearing about this so-called sleepover through the grapevine, decides he's going to be a good nakama and little brother and surprise them with their favorite snacks and drinks!! sleepovers are always better with good provisions, especially for ones that go all night long
however. sanji was not expecting to open that door (yes it was unlocked for plot purposes and he didnt knock because he had like 7 different plates in his hands let me HAVE this) and see his 3 favorite girls going down on one another.
that boys cigarette fell STRAIGHT out his mouth- a tiny noise escaping him as all 3 girls heads snapped to look at him. he was ready to bolt SO fast, throwing the food he made as gently as he could onto a nearby counter and saying sorry about 40 times per second. he wasnt even halfway out the door before an array of arms sprouting from the floor dragged his ass towards the bed
you KNOW those girls are (lovingly, teasingly) bullying him the whole time, calling him sweetly degredating names. yet they refused to do more than that- not allowing him to touch/participate and yet refusing to let him leave the room
nami calling him a pervert, talking about how for every minute he's in there he gets 5% more debt added to what he already owes her (reijus head was between her thighs as she said all this, btw). robins flirtatiously scolding him about bad manners, leaning over to run her fingers across his cheek and neck as namis head layed on her naked lap. and reijus mouth was too busy to comment, but every once in a while she let out a giggle of agreement when one of her other two partners said something that really made blood drip out of sanjis nose
and once pretty boy was all hot and heavy, the only reason he was locked in place being the disconnected arms restricting his movements? they all take their sweet, sweet time in pleasing him.
AND HES NOT FUCKING COMPLAINING LMAO. this idiot got not one, not two, but THREE hot women to dom him, somehow, by just showing up at the right time. he's taking everything they put him through in stride, whether that be sudden overstimulation or tortuously slow edging, he's loving All Of It
they go the rest of the night until the sun is halfway up, the only reason they let him go being because if they didnt, luffy would come barging in, asking when and why breakfast hadnt been made
and so sanji walks out with an exhausted sense of satisfaction, rumpled close, weak knees, and a dopey smile on his face as he thinks about what to make that day to thank his lovely ladies for this equally as lovely gift
...or i should say he *limps* out, actually. what. you think all of of those girls didn't peg that man until he was screaming???
HAHAH OKOK IM DONE IM DONE I HOPE THIS WAS ALRIGHT AND NOT OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE??? you says you ship allsan so. i hold this rarepair of mine up for you to look at with big eyes and shakey hands lmao
ANYWAYS i need to go write like. actual vscest now that i can post on ao3 someday. uh. see you oshdafafafafwy??? <3<3
AS SOON AS YOU PUT ROBIN NAMI AND REIJU IN THE SAME SENTENCE I KNEW THIS WOULD BE GOOD
THEY'RE LIKE THE OFFICIAL BULLYING SANJI SQUAD FOR ME! And sure reiju might go soft on him because reasons, but she has no problem teasing him and calling him sweet names. She can just let the harder stuff for robin and nami while she busies herself with their bodies instead
And imagining all of robin's arms and hands sprouting everywhere and completely pinning sanji down?? It's so good and so hot, so effortless for her and so effective. Not that sanji really needs to restrained, only look from nami and he'd be motionless, but it's just the fact that robin wants to do it and she knows sanji will melt and let them do whatever they want with him afterwards
I can totally picture nami playing hot and cold with him, one second praising him for being a good boy, on the other calling him a pervert, then saying he's so good to them, so attentive, then saying he's crossed a line and he should've knocked, such a bad, naughty boy that he is
Sanji's lucky he didn't need a blood transfusion after all that. But I mean, reiju was right there, he would've been fine and it would've been worth it
Also I just have to mention how sweet it was of sanji to think about getting them snacks 😭 I think he deserves all the praises just for that

hello tumblr : open rants about grieving myself as a twitter user
i joined twitter in november 2019, around the same time i developed agency and autonomous thoughts. a girl from my school had suggested i try it out, and like everyone, i did not understand the concept; and like everyone, i came back to it a few weeks later, and it became an integral part of my life ever since.
i don’t exactly know whether twitter altered my brain chemistry, or if i had a brain chemistry that was initially compatible with twitter and pursued its own path to exhaustion. i have always been a very talkative person; my parents would plan an hour at the end of the day just to listen to me talk about my day in extensive detail. i never, ever, ever shut up. and that simultaneously must’ve been the reason why i joined twitter AND the reason i started writing : if i don’t have friends i can talk to my day in extensive detail about, i can tell the entire world.
i haven’t been able to leave twitter since i started. it wasn’t even that i tried : i defined myself by being a twitter user (by the way, how horribly hilarious to define yourself by being a “user” of something and insist it isn’t a drug). the one time i tried to leave, i came back after a month, not because i experienced withdrawal, but simply because i decided i didn’t like using instagram as my main social media. i told myself, and others, when they asked why i was so inintelligible :
i am a twitter.
(twitter as in twitter account, or twitter as in ‘one who tweets’ ? i don’t know myself. i’d like to keep that ambiguity. i’ve been intertwined with the accounts i’ve had, my usernames have been enmeshed in me the same way a family name. “hi, i’m Cassandre, known as chi3ur on twitter.com, “oui chieur avec un trois” [originally in French])
i think it would be intellectually dishonest, though, to deny that twitter has changed the way i think. it has given a parasocial flavor to almost all my relationships, including ones with people i know in real life. it has made my humor and sometimes my everyday babbling absolutely incomprehensible to people who didn’t have “the reference”, but it made me feel like i was a part of something. it was an identity marker; something that as someone who has been excluded from most if not all large groups of people, i could brandish and say “look! look! i’m a real person too!”.
i haven’t always had a good relationship with the people on twitter. i have been harassed, doxxed, threatened, i’ve had to leave my hometown for a few months because of how bad it got. yet, i never had an issue with the platform itself. it always found its way back to me, and i eventually managed to curate an experience that was so euphorizing to me.
as i am writing this, the “twitter ship” is currently sinking. like musicians on the titanic, my most prized followed accounts, and often friends, are providing this one last part of entertainment before the app/site completely shuts down. it is rumoured to give out during the night, and by tomorrow morning, i may wake up and find my tidbits of personal history from the past year or so has been wiped out from existence (yes, i did request an archive, i hope it isn’t too late to do so).
i saw it coming.
i read it in the early signs, like a religious person would try and predict the Apocalypse : i followed software updates as though i knew anything about programming, read stories of the employees upon employees fired, and once i started mourning this website, it got me thinking :
who am i if not a twitter ?
my brain chemistry that i mentioned being compatible with twitter, moreso than the incessant rambling, was precisely that i felt compelled to share my every thought with the world. over the years, it got to a point where my first, jolt-like reaction, when i experienced a well-worded or articulate thought, was to tweet it. minor event happened during the day ? tweet it. overwhelming realization about who i am as a person ? tweet it. witty play on words, or, as i’d say, “banger”? tweet it. the muscle that required me to think was inextricably intertwined with the routine that went “open twitter, compose tweet, write down thought, tweet”.
over the past few days, i have been finding myself more and more reminiscent of who i was in my past lives, that is to say, any year prior to 2020. i listen to music from when i was in middle school. i dream about dating someone almost exactly like my first ever partner. but what scares me the most is that i’ve started to unravel the layers and layers of irony, sarcasm, rizz, memes, that i’ve coated myself and my feelings in to survive them. and now that all of this is tumbling (lol) down, i find that the thought to tweet instinct is, in fact, not that natural to who i am as a person. i find in me the child who spoke with an unnaturally elaborate language that i’d learnt in books, who used proper punctuation and prided myself on being able to carry long-winded reasonings.
is it that child that is sitting here today, in my very adult apartment that i rent with my very adult money earnt at my very adult job, typing for the first time in a long time a text that is longer than 240 characters ?
i prided myself for so long in being able to kill my inner child. but i find with both ecstasy and horror that they are very much still alive, that the person i prided myself in inventing from scratch was actually an articulate jumble of pieces i picked from others and from myself, and now the headquarters of twitter are closing and my mask is falling off, the app is slowing down, and i am more and more cringe, but i know that this makes me feel good in a way that is much deeper than the surface-level personality i assembled the past three years, and if i need to know anything about myself, it is this :
i am not a twitter.

Hi! I was wondering if you could explain to me (if you know) the difference between a mage and a cleric as El and Will are referred to as them in the show? :)
I am not an expert, but I have looked it up once.
If I remember right, a cleric derives most of their power by making a pact with a deity of some kind.
A mage I think is someone born talented in magic...?
And wizard is someone who studies magic endlessly to become powerful?
And a warlock... dunno.
BUT LET'S LOOK UP WHAT IT ACTUALLY SAYS
CLERIC : Clerics are intermediaries between the mortal world and the distant planes of the gods. As varied as the gods they serve, clerics strive to embody the handiwork of their deities. No ordinary priest, a cleric is imbued with divine magic.
In a round about way, you could think of Will as a cleric in season 2 as he got possessed by the Mind Flayer, did its bidding, and acted as a link between the real world and the Upside Down. But I'm pretty sure clerics are willing servants of the gods, not forced into it like a blood pact.
MAGE : Doesn't appear to exist, but Sorcerer does. Sorcerers carry a magical birthright conferred upon them by an exotic bloodline, some otherworldly influence, or exposure to unknown cosmic forces. One can’t study sorcery as one learns a language, any more than one can learn to live a legendary life. No one chooses sorcery; the power chooses the sorcerer.
I DO see it listed as a monster though? Here is its description : Mages spend their lives in the study and practice of magic. Good-aligned mages offer counsel to nobles and others in power, while evil mages dwell in isolated sites to perform unspeakable experiments without interference.
Somewhat fits El's description for sure, the sorcerer I mean. I think Mike made it up. Either way, the defining trait of a sorcerer seems to be that magic comes "naturally" to them.
WIZARD : Wizards are supreme magic-users, defined and united as a class by the spells they cast. Drawing on the subtle weave of magic that permeates the cosmos, wizards cast spells of explosive fire, arcing lightning, subtle deception, and brute-force mind control. Their magic conjures monsters from other planes of existence, glimpses the future, or turns slain foes into zombies. Their mightiest spells change one substance into another, call meteors down from the sky, or open portals to other worlds.
This is the class of Will the Wise and Vecna. The defining trait of a wizard I think is the fact that they study a LOT. They're like the old guys who live in a high tower and do nothing but read all day.
WARLOCK : Warlocks are seekers of the knowledge that lies hidden in the fabric of the multiverse. Through pacts made with mysterious beings of supernatural power, warlocks unlock magical effects both subtle and spectacular. Drawing on the ancient knowledge of beings such as fey nobles, demons, devils, hags, and alien entities of the Far Realm, warlocks piece together arcane secrets to bolster their own power. A warlock is defined by a pact with an otherworldly being. Sometimes the relationship between warlock and patron is like that of a cleric and a deity, though the beings that serve as patrons for warlocks are not gods.
This fits Will a whole lot now doesn't it? But I don't believe warlocks existed at the time Stranger Things is taking place.
Looking at the available list of classes back then :
Tumblr media
Both El and Will the Wise fall under "Magic User" rather than wizard or mage.
In 1989, 2nd edition would come out which included more classes like wizard and mage. I see now that mage was a subclass of wizard apparently.
Tumblr media
In this edition, the mage became an all-purpose wizard who could cast any wizardly spell, including many only available to illusionists in the first edition, like color spray and chromatic orb. The wizard spell list was unified, and illusionists became one of many specialist wizard types who focussed on a specific "school" of magic. The other specialists were abjurers, conjurers, diviners, enchanters, invokers, necromancers and transmuters. As a trade-off for various bonuses with magic from their chosen school, specialists became unable to cast spells from one or more "opposition" schools. Aside from school restrictions, all wizards could cast spells from up to 9th level, assuming they had the required intelligence.
So there we have it. The experts can correct me if I got anything wrong. It seems a mage and a wizard are actually the same thing with slight differences. At the time Stranger Things takes place, both Will the Wise and El are technically wizards or "magic users" as is Vecna.

How to Earn from Google AdSense?
There are nearly 20-30 billion webpages on Google and from them 200 million are active websites. Many people don’t just do it for time pass but to do something different and to earn. If someone wants to earn from their websites there are many ways such as: -
Google AdSense.
Monetize your website through affiliate (sell related products) marketing on your website.
Use your website as your own portfolio (to get work).
These are some ways to earn from your websites.
But we will talk about Google AdSense today.
What is Google AdSense?
Google AdSense is a program that allows website owners to place ads on their site and earn money when visitors click on the ads. The program is free to join, and anyone with a website can sign up. Once you're approved, you can choose how you want your ads to look and where you want them to appear on your site. When someone clicks on one of your ads, you'll earn money from Google.
How does Google AdSense works?
Ads are displayed based on the content of the website they are being shown on. This means that if a website is about gardening, the ads displayed will be related to gardening. Google AdSense uses a complex algorithm to match ads to websites, and this ensures that the ads are relevant to the viewers. Website owners earn money every time someone clicks on one of their ads. The amount of money earned depends on how much the advertiser pays per click. Generally, advertisers pay more for clicks from countries with a higher cost of living, as they are more likely to result in a sale or lead. Google AdSense is a great way for website owners to make money without having to sell advertising space directly. It is also a good way for advertisers to reach relevant audiences at a low cost.
Criteria to sign up in AdSense: -
1. You need to be more than 18-year-old.
2. Your website must have original and high-quality content.
3. You shouldn’t have any illegal activity on your websites.
4. Your website should free from any malware, phishing and should be user-friendly.
5. You should have the access of HTML codes of website.
6. Your website should be free from any offensive, hateful content.
How much time does it take to get approved from AdSense: -
Steps: -
First you have to send an application request. Then you will receive a verification code which you will have to paste in your website’s section. This helps Google to verify that you are the owner of the website.
Usually, it takes only 24 to 48 hours to get approved from AdSense but if your website doesn’t follow the criteria, it may take time or request can be disapproved.
After you are verified and approved you will receive the code of the ad that you have to paste on your section of website.
Google already analyzed your website and its traffic.
Therefore, it will show the ads accordingly to your content.
How much can we earn from AdSense?
It depends on a few factors, such as the traffic your site receives, the location of your visitors, and the types of ads that are displayed. Generally speaking, however, you can expect to earn around $0.10-$0.20 per 1000 page views from AdSense. You can earn up to $0.30 to $5 per 1000 clicks on the ads shown on your site. This can change according to your niche and traffic on your website. So, if your website gets 1000 page views per day, you could potentially earn $50-$60 per month from AdSense. Of course, this is just an estimate - some bloggers earn much more than this, while others earn less.
The amount you can earn per click depends on the country where the visitor is coming from, the type of ad, and other factors. This means that if you have 100 visitors to your site who click on ads, you could earn $50. This is just an estimation; it depends upon various different factors.
How the payment policy of Google AdSense works: -
Google AdSense payment works like this: -
1. Google is approached by an advertiser to show add on different websites signed in with Google AdSense.
2. Advertiser pays a fixed amount to Google AdSense when someone clicks on their ads shown on different websites.
3. From this amount received to Google by the advertiser, some percentage is given to the website, on which the ads are shown.
Google AdSense pays you on the basis of clicks on your website. It gives you a share from the percentage of revenue generated from the clicks. You can get up to 51% to 68% of the revenue per click on ad.
But AdSense puts a condition on the website. The website owner on which the ads are shown starts earning when its revenue is more than $100. If you’re earning less than $100 in the current month then Google AdSense will send you the amount in the month when you have earned more than $100.
Different types of ads shown on AdSense: -
1. Fixed-sized ads: -
Fixed-sized ad units are ads that are a specific size, such as 300x250 pixels or 728x90 pixels. These ad units will always display at the same size, regardless of the device or screen size that they are being viewed on. This can be beneficial if you have specific spaces on your website that you want to fill with ads of a certain size.
However, it is important to note that using fixed-sized ad units can be less effective on mobile devices, as they may not fit properly on smaller screens. In these cases, responsive ad units may be a better choice. Responsive ad units automatically adjust their size to fit the available space on the device they are being viewed on, making them more user-friendly on mobile devices.
2. Sticky ads: -
Sticky ads can be useful for website owners because they allow the ad to remain visible to users even as they scroll down the page, increasing the chances that the user will see and interact with the ad. However, sticky ads can also be annoying for users because they may obstruct the content of the webpage or make it difficult to navigate.
There are a few different ways that sticky ads can be implemented on a webpage. One way is to use a JavaScript library or plugin that adds the sticky ad functionality to the site. Another way is to use CSS and HTML to create a fixed position element on the page that contains the ad.
Google AdSense has guidelines for the use of sticky ads, which include recommendations on the size and placement of the ad, as well as the frequency with which it should be displayed to users. Website owners who are interested in using sticky ads should carefully review these guidelines to ensure that they are in compliance with AdSense policies.
3. In-feed Ads: -
In-feed ads are a type of ad that is displayed within the content feed of a website or app. These ads are typically integrated into the content in a way that makes them appear to be a natural part of the feed, rather than a separate element. In-feed ads can be used on a variety of types of websites and apps, including social media platforms, news sites, and e-commerce sites. To create an in-feed ad through AdSense, website owners can use the AdSense ad code to insert the ad into the appropriate location in their content feed. The ad code can be customized to specify the size and appearance of the ad, as well as the type of ad that should be displayed (e.g., text, image, or video).
It's important to note that Google has guidelines for the use of in-feed ads, which include recommendations on the placement and frequency of the ads, as well as the types of content that they can be displayed with.
Founder of Google AdSense: -
Paul Buchheit, who were the founder of Gmail, got an idea of running ads on Gmail. This was the foundation idea for Google to create Google AdSense. This idea was further nurtured and shaped by Google employees. Susan Wojcicki who is the current CEO of YouTube, she was helped by Sergey Brin to adapt this reformative idea into existence with the creation of Google AdSense.
The person behind Google AdSense, Susan Wojcicki: -
She was born in Santa Clara County. California on July 5, 1968. Her mother was Esther Wojcicki, an American Journalist and her father, Stanley Wojcicki was a Polish Physics professor in Stanford University.
Susan Diane Wojcicki is the current CEO of YouTube, and she has been an important member of Google from its early stages, when it was set up in a garage by its founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Her parents, Esther and Stanley Wojcicki, were the owners of the house in whose garage Google was set up. Her family saw the potential in Google. In 1999, Susan Wojcicki became the first marketing manager of Google and later the chief of Google’s advertisement business and currently, the CEO of its worldwide famous video platform YouTube.
Before becoming the marketing manager of Google in 1999, she worked in Intel Corporation in Santa Clara, California in the marketing department. She also had been a marketing advisor at Bain & Company and R.B Webber & Company.
In Google, she was member of initial viral marketing programs and ha a crucial role in designing Google’s world-famous logo with designer Ruth Kedar. She was co-developed and launched Google Image Search feature with the help of engineer Huican Zhu. She also led the project when Google Doodles was launched.

Do you use any other 🥝 rms of social media? Just wondering how long you have been on Tumblr and if this is your primary choice for social media, why? What does Tumblr give you that other places do not?
Short answer: For me, Tumblr seems to be the platform that is the least inconvenient.
All social media sites seem to have some sort of baggage, particularly in the way each one handles its own policies for sure, but also in a number of different aspects as well. Facebook: Oakdale Grove has a Page [here] where I post photos and ritual event listings. Despite Facebook being a bustling megalopolis, my page doesn’t see that much traffic. In fact as of today it has 620 follows since 2012. I really dislike the feature of “invite John Doe to like your page,” it’s just smarmy. Facebook buries or removes all the best features to the point that I just post less and less so that I don’t have to deal with the hassle. I lost a lot of trust in Facebook in the 2014 News Feed Experiment, and I decreased my activity there in general thereafter. I also deleted the Facebook and Messenger apps from my phone because of feature creep and my custom settings getting reset with each update.
Instagram: I’ve never wanted an Instagram page. Pretty much all social media sites compress uploaded image files to take up less server space, but Instagram seems to downscale photos the most aggressively. Aside from that it’s really just not my thing. Every now and then I consider just signing up and getting started, but whenever I do, someone somewhere on the internet is griping about what they hate about Instagram, and it's always something different. It just reminds me of why I don't want to go near it.
Pinterest: Is Pinterest even a social media platform? It either needs to just go away or at least not be indexed by search engines. Do a search for "why I hate Pinterest" and the millions of search results are pretty much how I feel about the site. It’s basically imagery that lacks meaningful context.
Twitter: Microblogging is fun and effective for very short bits of information without being in your face (like TikTok). Among social media platforms, this is where I have my smallest following. Nevertheless, some people have found Oakdale Grove through this platform alone, so I keep using it.
Tumblr media
Google Plus: Well it’s dead and gone, but it never was a social media powerhouse. I had a Plus page on druidry but pretty much abandoned it in under a year.
YouTube: This was once quite a social media haven. It was never perfect, but YouTube has fallen from grace repeatedly. Until 2011 or so, you could add users as friends, messaging was also easier then, and you also once had the power to delete subscribers that you didn’t want, including dead accounts. These days you can only block users you don’t like, but they can still subscribe to you. There’s also the latest YouTube policy enforcement fiasco which demonstrates that they are permitting hate speech to continue. I have several videos partially edited, but have just no drive to complete them.
TikTok: OMG this is a plague upon us all! I have friends who try to send me TikTok videos. Half of the time the thumbnail does not match up with the video that actually starts playing. And for some reason TikTok seems universally loud. It's social media ADHD on meth. As far as I can tell there is no way to mute videos, and no playback control other than pause. If a video doesn't loop, it loads and plays the next one, and I just want to take some ibuprofen for it. I managed to block TikTok in my computer's web browser and deleted the app from my phone months ago, so I can live in peace until someone starts streaming it in public. To be honest, I was really looking forward to the failed TikTok ban a few years ago.
Tumblr:
Overall, I really like the things you can do on the site. That said, Tumblr really shot themselves in the foot in December 2018. Tumblr had ample opportunity to purge just the porn bots, Nazis, and pedophiles, yet they haphazardly went after the whole NSFW community. A lot of regular Tumblr users left in protest after that, too. I’m still getting followed, liked, and reblogged by porn bots, and I have them to thank for reaching 1600 followers over the past few months. Bots aside, ultimately I feel that I do get a better response here than on other platforms.
As it pertains to Druidry, I created my blog on Tumblr in 2015 because of the lack of representation of druidry. The Witchblr community is huge here in my opinion, but there is far more gaming content in terms of the search tag Druid. The search results churn up almost exclusively role playing content such as D&D, World of Warcraft, and related fan art. That’s nice for the gaming community, but they have a disproportionate monopoly of content under the #Druid tag. Druidry and Druidism yield more relevant search results in terms of spirituality and paganism, but spiritual druidry is still not that well represented here. We are a fraction of a fraction.
Tumblr is also most popular among Millennials and Generation Z. The demographics of druidry are shifting, but I’ve heard (by hearsay) that most people tend to find druidry in their 40s or later, and that many of them didn’t even know it existed beforehand. As a mostly typical Millennial myself, and as someone who dove into druidry back at age 20, Tumblr seemed like a good place to set up a blog where I could help other young adults discover druidry, too. There have been plenty of times where older practitioners of druidry have said “I wish I would have found druidism sooner” or something to that effect.
So that’s part of why I’m here, to help others gain in Awareness, and to help them discover something potentially meaningful while they’re still in their prime.

10 Tips for Successful Web Application Development
Web applications have become a necessary component of our life in the current digital era.
The foundation of all internet enterprises are web applications, which include social networking sites and e-commerce platforms.
Making a good one takes careful planning, paying attention to details, and doing things the right way. In this blog, we'll share ten important tips to help you make awesome web apps.
Define Your Goals and Target Audience:
It is essential that you define exact objectives and goals for your web application prior to beginning development. Which issue are you attempting to resolve? Who is the intended audience for you? Comprehending these essential elements will direct your decision-making procedure and guarantee that your application fulfills the requirements of your target audience.
2. Choose the Right Technology Stack
The web application's speed, capacity, and reliability will be greatly impacted by the technology stack you select. Take into account elements like databases, hosting environments, frameworks, and programming languages that complement your development team's experience, budget, and project requirements.
Tumblr media
3. Give User Experience (UX) top priority
The success of any web application is contingent upon the quality of its user experience (UX). Devote time and resources to creating an aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly interface that works seamlessly on a range of platforms and devices. To continuously hone and improve the UX, do usability testing and collect input from actual users.
4. Use safe coding techniques
From the beginning of the construction of your web application, security should be your first priority. Embrace secure coding techniques including output encoding, strong authentication, and authorization systems. To safeguard your application and its users, keep abreast of the most recent security threats and vulnerabilities. Then, put the necessary remedies in place.
5. Performance-Based Optimization
User engagement and happiness can be greatly impacted by subpar performance. Use techniques to improve the performance of your online application, such as caching, resource minification, content delivery networks (CDNs), and server-side code and database query optimization.
6. Adopt Agile Development
Agile development approaches, like Scrum and Kanban, encourage teamwork, adaptability, and the iterative delivery of functional products. Throughout the development cycle, you may include user feedback, adapt swiftly to changing requirements, and constantly enhance your web application by using an agile strategy.
7. Put automated testing into practice
To make sure your web application is reliable and of high quality, automated testing is necessary. To find and address defects early on and minimize the time and expense associated with maintenance and updates, incorporate unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing into your development process.
8. Make Use of Collaboration and Version Control Tools
Git and other version control systems facilitate collaborative development by enabling several developers to work simultaneously on the same codebase. Code management procedures and effective teamwork guarantee seamless integration, simple rollbacks, and an efficient development process.
9. CI/CD, or continuous integration and deployment
Build, test, and deployment procedures are all automated by CI/CD pipelines, guaranteeing a smooth and effective release cycle. You may speed up the delivery of new features and updates to your online application and decrease human error by integrating continuous integration and continuous delivery, or CI/CD.
10. Keep an eye on and maintain
It is essential to keep an eye on your web application's security, performance, and usage trends once it is released. Put monitoring procedures and technologies in place to quickly detect and resolve any problems. Maintain and update your program on a regular basis to add new features, fix errors, and adjust to evolving specifications and user demands.

I think one of my formative moments when I was a mid-teen was +Watching an out-and-out self-proclaimed non-contact pedophile on DeviantArt. I read his journals and his interactions with other users and was like, huh, this guy's just a guy with some unfortunate mental wiring.
Can't knock that, I'm just some genderless thing with different but still also unfortunate (you can't exactly skullfuck or be skullfucked by someone without one party dying irl now can you - and snuff is, well, murder, so) mental wiring!
Like I do not recommend minors following in my footsteps, my internet forays were wild as a child (I was on a furry personals site long before I reached the age of majority lol - to my credit they didn't have an 18+ rule until like, long after I was an adult, and now the site doesn't even exist anymore - but man some of the people I met there had zero uhh, filter, even once I told them my age (shout out to the plushophile who upon learning I was 15 at the time still talked about the sexual aspects of plushophilia + informed me at least once after he was done fucking his Sonic toy - for the record I don't hold it against the guy, I participated in the conversation with full awareness)) but yeah. Formative moments!

Good morning from Charlottesville, Virginia! ☕️

Another week, gone. We’re picking up the grandkids this morning so I’ll have to get this put together quickly this morning. Sorry, grandpa duty calls! 👴🏼
I’m finishing this off in the car as we go to get them. 🤣

“Leave the World Behind,” which is based on a 2020 novel by American author Rumaan Alam and produced by among others Barrack and Michelle Obama, is nothing less than a modern-day version of Alfred Hitchcock’s unforgettable 1963 hit “The Birds.”
I watched this last night and I really liked it. If you have Netflix check it out.

Once upon a time — way back in, like, 2004 or something — I used to turn my nose up at sites that served an RSS feed with only an excerpt. It felt, I think I would have said, like a sleazy way to drive clicks. (“Information wants to be free!” etc. 🙄) Twenty years on I still read a ton from RSS feeds, but I found recently that I’m starting to thaw on that position quite a bit.
Ashur, what happened to the curmudgeon in you? 😃
As a developer of a feed reader I get request to display the full article and it’s what I prefer so I don’t have to visit the website. That’s a feature on the feature list for Stream. One of these days.

Poor Castro has languished and definitely doesn’t have the geek recognition Overcast does. I’d imagine that’s why it’s the number one podcast player in John’s stats.
As far as UI preferences and paradigm go, Castro fits me better.
I’d love to be able to buy it from Tiny and keep working on it. I’ve already shared my opinion on the matter.

The Comixology app, the mobile incarnation of the digital comics platform owned by Amazon since 2014, has finally shuffled off this mortal coil.

While four teams are celebrating the opportunity to play for a national title on the field, undefeated ACC champion Florida State is on the outside, becoming the first unbeaten Power 5 conference winner to ever miss out on the College Football Playoff.

Apple TV+ today shared the first images from “Constellation,” a new eight-part, conspiracy-based psychological thriller drama starring Noomi Rapace (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” “You Won’t Be Alone”) and Emmy Award nominee Jonathan Banks (“Breaking Bad,” “Better Call Saul”).
So, yeah, I’m looking forward to this! Anything with Noomi Rapace in it is good in my book.
