So i decided to repost the original sketches [plus one i thought was appropriate to put with these, since its got a butt i put it under the cut] and delete the cringe original post- since it didn't get any notes anyway- after cleaning them up/adding a block of color behind them [plus me toying with demon wwx's colors] so i hope you enjoy them!! More about the fic under the cut :D

“Clash of Immortals” / COI is an upcoming project I’m super excited about with Demon WWX and Angel LWJ. I use my own version of hell/heaven for this, allowing for lots of fun details and some creatures unique to my universe, including A-Yuan who is a “Garden of Eden” [not drawn yet].

Information i can share!

Demon WWX / Wei Wuxian - Demon type: A black-blue feathered “Captive” or “Fallen” - a type of demon caused by cutting an angel’s ascension short as they are being lifted into the heavens, caused by demons trying to prevent as many new angels from entering heaven as possible. This means originally he was supposed to become an angel, but his line was cut and he was dragged past hell’s gates, causing him to descend instead of ascend once he passed through the gate.

This leaves a nasty scar on his back from the hook used to pull him up [if ascended the hook will disappear harmlessly] and this is why they are also nicknamed "Hook Demons" as they will sometimes even go around with the hook still in their back, just filed down, because they are going through a vital area and can't be fully removed.

Angel LWJ / Lan Wangji - Nearly a white wing, shares a nearly identical wing color to LXC, His is white with minimal jade undertones; he has MANY piercings to compensate his abilities in order to prevent his body from tearing apart. He does however have a unique trait- two of his flight feathers [one on each side] are completely black [I will test this with his design so don't hold me to this]. After his descent heaven is a bit perplexed- they allow this type of movement but LWJ is a very important for heaven’s force of angels, as one of the most powerful.

Fun Facts ;]

When they see each other for the first time as angel/demon they bristle, [in my universe, angels and demons feel wrong when in each other's presence, even if they're very soft and sweet. It'd probably be a good mirror to how LWJ and WWX don't necessarily get along in the actual series when they first meet too.] but then it’s a cheery reunion- LWJ might be somewhat uncomfortable, but WWX tames the sensation more easily as he is nearly unrestrained in power.

Someone comes within 50 feet of A-Yuan and Wei Wuxian sends the person’s heart to their throat just by looking at them despite this being a bad habit he probably shouldn’t use around the "Garden of Eden."*

*original species invented which will be explained better in story, I don't wanna spoil too much

and then we have "BED" HABITS

WWX is aggressive as all hell with everyone else besides his kind [in hell anyway bc he doesn't like everyone's attitude] -not in an intimate way he wouldn't do anything with anyone else- but becomes tame with LWJ, it's like a switch gets flipped. LWJ is the growling demon in bed while WWX is the purring angel, despite their anatomy quite clearly showing otherwise; and let me tell u I love purring demons and growling angels

NO ONE believes him when LWJ says wwx isnt the aggressive one, thinking the demon is tainting their precious second jade despite wwx not having a choice about his demonhood. LWJ be like: we still husbands regardless of who's the more aggressive one anyway. Yes, I’ve just decided we’re still married no extra ceremony required.

DJTober 2023: A Monthly Fan Creation Challenge

Introducing, a new Fan Art/Fan Fiction Challenge for the Month of October 2023!

I always like monthly fanfiction and fan art challenges in certain months that create new work and get the creative flow going. So I decided I wanted to make my own challenge that anyone could join.

Information and Text version of Prompts under the cut:

So what is DJTober? It is a challenge where you can draw or write based on random songs and verses as the daily prompts. I picked the name because it was different and I think Songtober was already taken. You can either post fan art or write fanfic or create a gif or anything that you feel like creating! Will this be a thing? Who knows? Will I make a side blog for this? It depends. Either way, I'm going to try this challenge myself and share it with others.

A couple of things to note:

In order for me to see your work on your platform (either Tumblr or AO3), please use the tags: #DJTober and #DJTober2023.

You can write a one-shot or multiple chapters, one fandom or multiple, and dark/whump/NSFW are allowed as well. Just make sure to tag appropriately and be mindful of triggers/content warnings.

Having said that, I do not allow things like pedophilia or similar in the works. I will immediately remove it and/or take drastic measures if need be.

Your fic can either be inspired by the song itself or by the suggested verse in the picture, or a different lyric of your choice. You can even have someone say the lyric in a quote. Your fic does not have to be a songfic.

You do not have to go in order of the list and you can start as early or late as you want. Just be aware that the collection that is opened now will remain unmoderated until the end of the first week of November.

August 2023 Monthly Review

I'm trying to make a habit of writing a post to cover the events of the past month. Here is this one!

Gentle Reader

August has been a month of trial. I returned to campus to continue my undergrad degree, as well as wrote more than a dozen Monster Match commissions on Tumblr in an effort to cover the cost of one particularly expensive textbook for an art history class. I also drew and painted two large maps for my fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons campaign, which has made me really think about the use of maps as storytelling tools. 

WIP Updates

The nameless centaur x human novelette is continuing apace (see my last update about this project). I’m picking my way through the first draft and am about 1/3 of the way toward the finish line. Taji, the nonbinary human protagonist, has just beaten back a horde of ghosts through the power of song! …And Cimitrius, their centaur love interest, is definitely appreciative of that.

This story was inspired by the Nabatean episode of the Fall of Civilizations podcast (listen to it on YouTube or Spotify). I had initially struggled to make myself interested in a Western European-inspired medieval fantasy world, but found myself much more enthused when I relocated the plot and characters into something more inspired by the Classical-era Middle East and northern Africa.

The 1812 CYOA (choose your own adventure) trio of monster romance stories whose outcomes will be decided via Tumblr polls are still in the research phase. Truth be told, it’s only the gender neutral reader story that needs more research than a cursory glance through various online sources; I’m debating the addition of indigenous North American characters in that particular story, a matter which needs to be handled delicately. 

I don’t want to unintentionally fetishize or appropriate from those cultures (I would be creating some original characters who belong to the Seneca people of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy). I will never portray creatures from Native American folklore in my fantasy romance fiction, since I am white; that leads into cultural appropriation far too easily. These (human) characters would—as narrative tools—be meant to educate the reader about how the War of 1812 had a large part to do with white encroachment onto indigenous lands. I want to add some donation links to that story thread that lead to organizations helping preserve Iroquoian languages, but that will come at a much later stage of the writing process.

The prehistoric fantasy CYOA monster romance story is quickly taking shape. Because this is fantasy rather than anything strictly historical, I don’t need to do much research and so can write as the muse takes me. This is my first proper CYOA, and it’s a big one! There are three love interests that the reader-protagonist can choose from, as well as (because I have some background as a hobbyist TTRPG writer) four items of “starting equipment” that can help or hinder certain outcomes depending on how/if the reader-protagonist chooses to use them. 

I’m using Scapple, a mind-mapping software from Literature & Latte, to plan this CYOA and its network of branching story paths. So far I’ve finished about 1/6 of the story, and I’m really enjoying the creative challenge of writing a “true” CYOA (as opposed to only having to create the path decided via the votes on a Tumblr poll, as the 1812 CYOA will be); it’s very intricate and puzzle-like. I’d love to get into LitRPGs as well, but a cursory glance across the genre’s top picks on Kindle shows a very cis-male-dominated space that doesn’t really offer much to queer people like myself; I’m not sure I want to dip my toes into that particular pool. 

Currently Reading

I’m currently reading The Pixie’s Queen by S. J. Sanders. It’s a wild ride of a novella and I am here for it. No joke, the pixies produce glittery, gold precum; it’s absolutely mind-boggling and unexpected in the very best way. And we love a good polyamorous romance in this house! One moment I’m grinning at the absurdity of Orenda’s situation and the way she approaches problem-solving, the next moment I’m super concerned and all but biting my nails at the gravity of the male pixies’ predicament and how they might lose everything they’ve worked for as a hive. It’s definitely a fun romance!

I’m also currently reading Healing the Orc’s Heart by Lyonne Riley. Full disclosure, I obtained an ARC of this book after asking the author if I could have a free copy for review purposes. So far, I’m really loving it! The language barrier is really interesting to me, and I can’t wait to see more of the story unfold and find out what trouble our two protagonists will get into.

Storyteller’s Thoughts

As I mentioned in the introduction to this newsletter, I’ve been thinking about maps lately. Maps define things, whether by stating precisely where the border of an area is or even just attaching a name to a place. Sometimes this is good—few people want to be lost, after all—but other times it takes away from the mythic aura of a setting.

If you go back far enough, there are no maps and no ways of measuring distance. I’m thinking of the Planegea setting for D&D 5e, which (although it does have a map for the DM’s private use) explicitly states that landmarks move around and the world is constantly shifting due to its youthful, primordial nature. I’m also thinking of a quote from the 2003 movie Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl: “You’re off the edge of the map, mate. Here there be monsters.” 

Maps make the world small and approachable with their scales and compass roses and labels. They remove mystery and awe and replace them with “mere” geography. They’re tools of colonialism and imperialism—they dictate who the land belongs to, and the blank areas of real-world historical maps no doubt offered enticement to would-be conquistadors. So, does your world have an accompanying map? Do you as a writer want to have a map of your world—moreover, would it be appropriate for your world to have a map, and if so what kind of map would it be? Authors: How many WIPs can I sign up with?

As many as you want, but please try to be practical about how much you can get done during the creation period. If you think you can only get one fic done, that's okay! You don't have to go crazy. The purpose of the event is to finish a WIP, and if taking on more means finishing nothing, it's better to just take on one!

Additionally, if you sign up with multiple fics but realize you can't finish all of them after an artist has already claimed your fic, that will mean the artist isn't guaranteed a fic to create art for. So please be mindful of that when signing up.

Authors: How far along should my fic(s) be by each check-in?

This will greatly depend on where your WIP is at the start of the event and how much of the fic is left, but a good rule of thumb is:

Check-in #1: 35% Complete Check-in #2: 55% Complete Check-in #3: 75% Complete Check-in #4: 90%-100% Complete

This is more of a guide to help you keep on track, so don't worry if you veer off course a bit. You also want to consider having enough written by the time an artist has claimed your piece to give them a decent idea of the story and what they want to create for it.

Authors: How will posting work? Do I have to post the entire fic on the posting date?

The posting date you choose will be the date you start posting your fic. If your fic has multiples chapters, you can divide those up however you see fit, so long as the first chapter you post for the event is posted on the day chosen.

If you are posting a brand new fic, this means chapter one. If you are updating a WIP, this means whatever chapter following your last update before the event. Do not post chapters during the event, prior to your posting date.

Authors: Do I post the art in my fic?

Yup! Just place the art into the body of the text in the appropriate place in the story, and make sure to link to the artist's page in the author notes! A guide on how to include images in fics will be posted shortly before posting begins.

Authors: What if my WIP contains triggering content?

Triggering content is a natural part of media, be it art, television, movies, books, comics, whatever! In order to be mindful of everyone's comfort, when you sign up, you will be asked a series of questions including what triggers your fic does or will contain. This may change as you continue to write, but that's okay, just try to get as many triggers listed as you can so that when fic claiming begins, potential artists can see what to expect.

Authors: What happens if my artist drops? What if they ghost me?

Sometimes people drop out of events, and sometimes people go ghost. It's not ideal, but it does happen, and if that happens, a pinch-hitter will be assigned to you.

Hopefully your artist will be up front, but if you cannot get in touch with them after a week, please contact me and I will reach out to them. After two weeks of radio silence--from the first week you were unable to contact them to the end of the week I couldn't--you will be assigned a pinch-hitter.

In the event your artist drops but has finished a piece of art for your fic, please ensure you still have their permission to use the piece in your fic.

Authors: What if I can't get my fic done in time, but I still got a portion of it done during the event?

In the event you don't finish your WIP but you still got something done during the event, you may go ahead and add your fic to the event collection on Ao3 and post your fic.

The fic will be included in the honorable mentions section of the final event wrap.

I’ve been THINKING again, not of things too crazy that would send me down a spiral. But I am catching myself twisting reality by imaging a lot of scenarios and conducting myself like they are real. Its so easy for me to do and its not easy to get a grip back on reality. I guess I’ve learned the first step would be to re-recognize my thoughts as stories confined entirely to my head. They are only words, I imagine them orbiting around the surface of my brain but they can’t get out of my skull. They aren’t in the real world. Instead of focusing my attention inwards on them, I can make an effort to focus outward and start taking new information in.

I feel the need to expand my sexual life. I’m tired of trying to keep it to myself or being afraid to branch out. I desire to be sexually involved with others and it comes from a genuine place. I have urges and desires I want to express with the right people. The prerequisite to this would be to get closer with people in general because I don’t want to be fucking strangers. It’s already one of my primary goals to open up to and get closer with more people in general. Maybe down the line I can start exercising the sexual part. It would also be good to be more communicative with the people I already want to do it with but I always fear it will taint the relationship.

I’m tired of doing this thing where I meticulously list off everything that I did. My journal is starting to become a mindless routine when it’s supposed to encourage bringing out my true thoughts and feelings for me to explore and express. I still want to objectively list everything that happened but only deeply elaborate on things I actually cared about on a deeper level. 

Last night I woke up in such a sweat, it drenched my shirt enough to have to change it and that’s never happened before. I also woke up absolutely shivering but I don’t know if it was actually that cold or if it was just me. Other than that I got okay sleep. 

Breakfast was a sausage and cheese burger which usually messes up my tummy but I figure that’s because of all the fat content. So this morning I had a cup of rice alongside it and that seems to have done the trick, my tummy handled it fine. I’ve been watching Jonbams play his Minecraft Madpack 5 modpack and I’m excited for it to get a public release. I think I want to stream a hardcore run of it and play until I achieve a goal I will determine later. Something about hardcore Minecraft gets me tingly, I enjoy it a lot when I can share it with others. The only way I see I can do that is with streaming, even if I get no viewers. 

Stream went okay. I worked well on the commission and drew a little meme. We had some discussion about people’s unnerving kinks and how it ties into artistic expression and how free that should be. I’ve always wanted to promote full expression no matter what it is, I don’t want to judge anyone’s art even if it’s heinous or worrying. The level I believe in this doesn’t vibe with most people but I still stand by it, maybe not publicly though. 

I did most of my workout. I usually walk 3 miles but I stopped at 2.2, mostly because I was reminded of my night sweat and for some reason it made me uneasy to wonder if I could have some kind of underlying condition going on along with my increased hunger lately. This wasn’t a realistic fear but it got to me enough for me to want to cut my workout short. I also skipped cleaning but to be fair it is pretty clean in here already. 

In the shower I felt frisky and messaged my friend on Telegram before deleting it. I wanted to let her know how I was feeling and maybe get her permission to think about her which would also let her know I wanted to but I decided not to bother her while she was at work. I know she isn’t as sexually inclined as me in general and it’s hard to tell when it would be at all appropriate to say anything about it when I’m feeling something. 

Lunch took awhile to make/eat since it was rice a roni again, with chicken this time. So I got to my afternoon work a little late. The request went okay and I worked more on the latest fursona pic again. I was hoping I could finish it today but I went slower than I thought. 

At this point I was trying to figure out what I actually wanted to do just to have fun. I had a painful realization that I am still so lost as a person in that it’s like I have no interests. I mostly just work on my art and stick to routines but I rarely find something that is truly enriching to me or truly lets me let go and have fun. I played some TOTK to foster this which didn’t quite do it but I was trying. I also hung out in XQC’s server VC and spoke with a few foreign strangers for awhile. During this I also put more time into my new horse avatar. 

At dinner time I called my bestie and we chatted just a bit before she was shleepy and went to bed while I streamed Mother 3. 

I just wish I could figure out how to feel like myself more. Lately I’ve been stuck in routines and have clung close to my limiting beliefs. Beliefs like how I can’t succeed at certain things or can’t have certain things like a lot of close friends or something to take interest in. I guess this means I’ve been in my own head, maybe tomorrow I can try to identify specific thoughts that perpetuate these beliefs and defuse from them.

I don't do icons. I tried for a while, but it was just a pain and felt like it detracted from my experience.

I generally write a couple paragraphs, semi-literate to literate, and omniscient third-person. However, I'm fine with matching length for bigger posts. I don't really care if people match my length (to a reasonable degree; if I give you 3 paragraphs, please don't give me two sentences lol).

On NSFW: I'm open to PG-13 or occasionally even R-rated threads with established ships with writing partners I'm comfortable with. They'll always be put under a read more and tagged appropriately. My Raph is anywhere from 18 (default) to middle-aged depending on the verse.

On shipping: I ship chemistry. I have zero interest in in//c//est ships, period. I'm always open for all kinds of ships; they don't have to be romantic! I don't ship with minor characters or minor muns.

OC's: I fuckin' love them. My MC from my novel trilogy project is an OC I've had for well over a decade and I have a blog for her, too. If you wanna write your OC with my muse, let's go! I'm happy to ship with OC's, too.

Notes on My Take on My Muse

First and foremost: My muse is MY muse. If you don't like my interpretation, please just unfollow and go find one that better suits how you view the character.

My Raph is almost entirely pulled from the Bayverse movies, but I may take bits and pieces from other TMNT series/comics/etc., too.

Raph is gruff. "Cool but rude guy", remember? Please remember mun =/= muse. If he's being an ass to your muse, it isn't me, the mun, being an ass to you, the mun.

Notes on My Take on My Muse

First and foremost: My muse is MY muse. If you don't like my interpretation, please just unfollow and go find one that better suits how you view the character.

I view Toshinori as being demisexual/demiromantic bordering hella close to being ace. It's not that he's totally incapable of those feelings; it's that they're not really on his mind much and it'd take a special kinda person to make him start feeling them.

I don't, personally, ship him and Aizawa. I just don't see it between them, myself.
