Newt and Thomas are both raised princes of kingdoms with long running bad blood; the mountain region and the coastal realm. An arranged marriage is meant to put an end to the animosity, only the treaty is a lie - both parties secretly wanting access to the other's kingdom. It might have brought both of them crashing down, but neither Thomas or Newt expected to actually fall in love, and now they have a choice to make. The war they've been raised to fight, or each other and perhaps a better world.

This was done for @fandoms-princess who asked for a royalty au and I wanted to do an edit for this but also wanted to flesh out a storyline for it so it had some direction. The idea of warring kingdoms sort of came together after the quote wouldn't leave me alone and I really enjoyed building off of that. (This is another one that has the bare bones of a fic percolating away as a 'hopefully one day' thing).

After not writing a lot over the summer (other than for my German gays) I finally sat down and finished some wips I've been sitting on for way too long so if you miss Newtmas as much as I do, here are new fics for you to read: loss of my life [general audiences] Thomas made it to Safe Haven, Newt didn't. Yeah, it's as sad as it sounds.

This Place Is Ours [general ausiences] Thomas never knew true friendship before Newt. Most of his days he spent lost in his head, quiet and alone, while the world around him just felt too loud and too fast. But then Newt came along like some kind of whirlwind—blond hair always messy, and a smile that shook Thomas' world in the best way possible. (because Newtmas and Bridge to Terabithia aren't gut-wrenching enough on their own, I had to combine them. Thanks to @kestis-advent and @fandoms-princess for bringing it up in the Glade)

And since we're already talking about sad, I finally finished that second chapter of one of my all-time favourites: THE LONELIEST [explicit] Sometimes when someone dies, their soul may latch onto a beloved object from their life, becoming inseparably linked to it. Just as a human's existence is defined by their heartbeat, the spirit's existence becomes tied to this object. or: you know how sometimes you masturbate about your dead best friend and accidentally summon his ghost? (i read this prompt under a steddie fic and thought this might be fun for newtmas too... spoiler, this wasn't fun, this was sad)

I am also months too late but I can finally contribute to @mazerunner-rarepairs with my first Teresa/Thomas/Newt fic: Every Night Has Its Dawn [explicit] And Thomas—Tommy—was blue, a steady and reliable force, like the endless sky above or the rhythmic consistency of waves breaking on the shore. Newt had always been yellow, consumed by cowardice and jealousy. But together, they were green. Green like life, like hope, like the memories they clung to in a world so full of loss. As for what Teresa brought into the mix? Newt couldn’t quite tell yet. (This was quite challenging to me as Newtmas has my whole heart and I never really could imagine Teresa ending up with Thomas as long as Newt is around but I really wanted to explore their dynamic and I actually like how this turned out?)

Then I also finished I Kissed A Girl (And I Liked It) which I originally started for @themazewomen over a year ago, dedicated to Sonyarrriet, and uploaded my first ever Minally fic When You Call (I Answer)

Last but not least, I updated another all-time favourite: A Newt Hope [explicit] Thomas is a Rebel captured by the Empire and Newt Skywalker and Min Solo come for his rescue while not bothering to answer any of Thomas questions. I'd love to read from you in my comments and hear all your thoughts 💛 until then I will go and try to finish more wips before @mazerunnersecretsanta season starts, taking me over completely.

It is officially after midnight in Eastern Standard Time which means Brinho Week is over! Wow!

Thanks again to everyone who participated in my little event. This was a fun exercise and creative excuse for me (and hopefully you all) to create some needed Brinho content. We are a small but mighty ship. All hail.

That being said, it is quite unlikely that this event will run again so it is even more so appreciated to everyone who made content. And if anyone ends up posting something that was initially inspired by one of the prompts, I’ll share it here.

If you’re looking for other Maze Runner events, check out @tmr-cultures, a year-long event celebrating native cultures and languages, and @themazewomen, running until July 31st with a bingo board for WLW creations. Later in the year will likely be @bloody-inspired-halloween, and @mazerunnersecretsanta is certainly going to run as well.

I got some really fun wishes from @ohbluesky and doing a bit of a murder mystery concept was so different and enjoyable to work on. Layers upon layers went into this, not to mention the use of several apps and internet searches to bring it all together and it was all a blast. (Plus I still have a partially formed fic idea I may someday get to).

These traumatized kids wouldn't let anyone else in the group out of their sights so everyone's got to pile into the same room while recovering from Maze injuries. "Lovers, Actually" written for my dear friend @go-catch-a-chickn ❤ Thomas has always liked looking at Newt; he's got this effortless attractiveness to him, he looks good without trying too hard, and maybe Thomas would envy him for it if it wasn't for this strange pull in his chest he always feels in the other’s presence. Everything about Newt is familiar and yet Thomas never tires of looking at him. He knows exactly what it is that he's feeling, has known it for a while now, and he also knows that these are not exactly feelings appropriate to have about your best friend. You'd think they’d eventually wear off since Thomas never allows himself to delve deeper into them, but Newt's effect on him is impossible to evade. He can't undo what he found in Newt and yet he could never pursue it, because he’s too scared of jeopardising a friendship that means so much more to him than he's ready to admit.

Young Royals Secret Santa 2021

Inspired heavily by the lovely @mazerunnersecretsanta, we have decided to run a Young Royals one! We want to thank them for allowing us to do this, and also give them a lot of credit - like, a lot - for the logistics of how to run a Secret Santa. (If you read this, then know we definitely couldn’t have done this without you, as dramatic as that sounds.) We have found it a really lovely way to get creators involved and inspired with prompts and other people within the fandom, and it’s open to creators of any level!

Also, every Young Royals fan is bound to experience an entirely new wave of complete and utter crushing despair over Christmas, we all know it. So what better way to put a nice little plaster over that completely annihilated heart, than a Secret Santa!

We will reblog and update this post as we go along. As this is our first time doing this, we’re still working things out, so we hope all of you can also be understanding that we don’t have the experience of running one of these before!

How It Works (A Quick Overview)

You fill out this sign-up form for the event and submit 3 prompts, along with other contact information and personal preferences about the gift you will create and the gift you will receive. We will assign you based upon these preferences. There are options to also be a Beta Reader (reading over someone else work to correct mistakes) and a Pitch Hitter (stepping in for a Gifter if they are unable to complete their Gift) on the form. Once the sign-up deadline has been reached, we will assign you as a ‘Giftee’ to another person - the Gifter. We will also assign someone else to you!

As this is a Secret Santa, everyone who signs up is both a Giftee and a Gifter - you have a prompt of yours brought to life, and bring to life someone else’s! 

When you receive the 3 prompts from your Giftee, you may choose 1 prompt - or more if you can incorporate more than 1 - out of them to make your creation.

For Fanfiction Writers: Send us your fic, and we will send it back to you after it is beta-read. An ao3 Collection will be set up closer to the time where you will post your fic during the week. Your names will remain anonymous until the reveal.

For everyone else: Send us your creation via email or Google Drive by the deadline, and we will post them on this blog over the span of a week, naming the lovely Giftee. 

Once the week is over, we shall reveal the Gifter of each of the creations (for some of that good ol’ suspense.)

After this, feel free to post your own creation on any of your own sites to be enjoyed by many more people!

You can also sign-up to be a only a Beta Reader and/or a Pitch Hitter. If you wish to only be a Beta Reader and/or Pitch Hitter, then fill out this form. 

Rules

You must be 15+ to enter. Age restrictions suck, we know. But considering the actual show is a 17+ (though let’s be real, people younger than that have watched it), this is the best we can do and the lowest we can reasonably make it. 

Meet the Deadlines! We understand life can get in the way, and we’ve tried to give people enough time to make their creations even with a few set-backs. 

Tell us if you cannot meet the Deadlines. Giving us a heads-up will be great for our planning, and also mean we can be more accommodating! We’ll work something out with you if you need help to meet a deadline, or need a little extra time.

And tell us if you cannot finish a Gift! If you are unable to finish making your gift due to unforeseen circumstances, then let us know and we can have a Pitch Hitter step in to take the prompt(s). We don’t want anyone going without a gift!

Do not post your work until after 5th January. It’s your own creation, we understand! There’s definitely a want to get it out into the world as soon as you’re finished with it. But in order for the surprise to work, we ask that you keep your alias under wraps until the reveal. Everyone loves a good bit of suspense, right?

Timeline and Deadlines

All Deadlines are based on the CET timezone (if this is our only way to honor the Swedes, then so be it.)

11th Sep - 30th Sep - sign-ups and prompt submission.

1st Oct - 6th Oct - you will be assigned a Giftee’s 3 prompts to. Choose 1 (or more if you can incorporate more) to base your creation off of.

7th Oct - 13th Dec - you have this time to create your lovely gift!

14th Dec - submit your creation to us by this date via email or Google Drive. (This allows us to sort through everything and have fics beta read. If fic writers finish their gift and are able to submit their fic before this date, then go for it!)

24th Dec - 30th Dec - posting of all your creations will commence, naming the lovely Giftee, but keeping the Gifter anonymous.

5th Jan - The Big Reveals! Who was the wonderful soul who gave you the gift?

6th Jan and onwards - feel free to share your own work wherever you want for plenty of other people to enjoy! If you want to tag it with #yrss2021 when you do, then that would be great for people to find other works in the fest!

Hiiii welcome back anon!!!!!!!!!! I’m so happy to see the maze runner fandom coming alive again?!?! Honestly this is such a heartwarming experience I.... 🥺 Anyways, i dont really have a fic rec, sorry! It’s been a while since I actually read tmr fics and I really miss it????

But I remember Jamie - aka the wonderful @00250 - having a very well organized fic recs page with lots of fics so you can check that one out! 

Also, @mazerunnersecretsanta blog will start posting secret santa gifts from the 25th so you can expect to find lots of new and wonderful fics over there, too! 

If my followers know of any other tmr fic recs or if you guys have fics recommendations pls send them through!
