You know it sucks that I can't even feel good about my follower count anymore...
Like, I'd love to thank all the 400+ followers I received this week...but I can't....cause they're not real people :V

Umm did snoozing tumblr live not work for anybody else?? I re-toggled it (since it always SAYS it’s checked to snooze but it’s there at the bottom once a week anyway) and even exited the app and it’s still marked as snoozed but uhhh it’s not

Anyone else have issues where Tumblr won't let you edit posts after they've been published? I swear every single time, whether on desktop or mobile, it fails to work.

What the actual fuck did they do NOW??!!
WHY IS MY DASHBOARD LIKE THIS! IT’S FUCKING AWFUL
jesus christ
I mean I’m honestly hardly ever on here anyway, basically just get on for a little bit every now and then to keep my queue going, but fuck if this is how it’s gonna look???
it’s sounds childish, but it looks bad. it just simply looks fucking bad
it’s never been like this, even when changes have been made in the past, at least stuff was somewhat in the same general area
but now???
if I want to feel like I’m using twitter, I’LL GO ON FUCKING TWITTER
so i guess either waiting for staff to change it back, give us an OPTION at least, or for xkit to come out with a fix
until then...fuck man, I actually don’t know if I can just scroll on here rn

no listen i really like the addition of the fyp on this forsaken website (weeks late) but it's starting to upset me how certain tags keep being shown to me (aka things posted under them) even though i've never once interacted with that fandom and i don't care for it, and when i tell tumblr this post isn't for me - the same post or something else under the same tag/fandom will come up a short scroll late. like hey maybe don't give me a feature if it won't work??

The fact that if someone posts a link to a tumblr post in a reply I cannot navigate to it using the tumblr app highlights the reason I hate apps replacing websites.
There’s nowhere in the tumblr app to enter a URL—your only option is to search up a user name and then try to find the post manually
If you copy-paste the link to a web browser like Firefox you get a login-prompt doorslam as soon as you scroll, even if you’re logged into the app.
You cannot easily click on a button from the webpage to load the post in the app
Even copy-pasting the URL is a PITA because the iOS tumblr app doesn’t actually let you select a portion of the text of a reply, only copy the whole thing to the clipboard.
I really hate the way apps break basic interface functionality that’s been standard for decades across different web browsers, to deliver content that is fundamentally just a webpage. @staff please fix this very annoying UI issue at least

the only support center for trans people in the state of arkansas has been vandalized, and the vandals took the fucking pipes. the fucking PIPES. if you can donate anything, please do.
Cashapp: $Transcoins
Venmo: @intransitive
ActBlue (donation website): here
i cannot express how much intransitive really does for us. they are there for any trans person in arkansas. with all of the recent barrages against trans rights, they're needed more than ever.
on top of this, they're trying to help 8 trans asylum seekers with time sensitive immigration cases, and they deal with emergency situations for trans folks all over the state. hell, they even made a community garden and jail bonds. if you can give anything, please do.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ID: Instagram slides that say "We've been vandalized again. This is the 5th time, but the worst time. The pipes have been completely taken from the ground up. The center will be closed until further notice. Since 2022 we've faced multiple instances of vandalism, police harassment and threats against the center and staff. It's disheartening and frustrating to be hit again with vandalism to our pipes, forcing us to close the Center until the issue can be fixed. Help us boost this post! Cashapp: $Transcoins Venmo: @intransitive /end ID

ID: Instagram slides that say "Update on Pipes being vandalized again. We've used our line of credit to pay for repairs to the pipes. It's not ideal, but it's crucial for us to remain open so we can continue supporting our community. We'll continue figuring out ways to raise funds and security. We're incredibly thankful for the donations, the words of support, and the folks who have reached out ready to help.
To the folks asking why we don't go to the police: 1) We've experienced harassment from local law enforcement at the center. 2) We've experienced physical violence from local law enforcement during protests. 3) Trans people of color are 6x more likely to experience violence when interacting with police. 4) We are abolitionist.
We still need support on: 1) Fundraising to pay the line of credit for fixing the pipes. 2) Fundraising for a security system. 3) Support from trusted people with experience on surveillance and security.
Our voice and work will prevail. We hold our elected officials responsible for any harm done to our staff, the Center and Trans Arkansans. Our elected officials who have pushed anti-trans legislation, our Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her messages of hate against our community. Your discrimination of Trans Arkansans has consequences. May your constituents hold you accountable and push you out of office. /end ID

okay, i’m gonna say it:
i’m pretty sure staff dropped Dusties with a smaller gene pool to minimize errors, whether that be through “less genes = less mistakes = shorter cleanup” or they had less genes and therefor could pay more attention to the ones they dropped and so they dropped with less errors in general. pretty sure more will be coming soon (probably after the Aether expansion). but y’all forgot you wanted to complain about eight hundred gene errors, and decided to complain that they scaled back
a modern could not have that tail. or those claws. please stop with the “this could have been a modern—” well it’s not a modern, and it’s totally fine for staff to choose to make it an ancient. and also you’re annoying
i’m putting the term “brachycephalic” on the high shelf until y’all learn how to use it correctly
wasn’t everybody JUST crying about how too many dragons were fluffy? yeah? i’m fucking tired
“everything sucks lately” make your own website then. you’ll soon learn how expensive and time-consuming and exhausting and thankless it is. and how impossible it is to please everyone
some of you are so mean actually. “i’d rather wait five years for a modern than be given this slop” GO MAKE UR OWN DAMN SITE THEN SO THE NORMAL PEOPLE CAN CONTINUE HAVING FUN IN PEACE. “SLOP”???? DO YOU EVEN READ YOUR OWN WORDS
no you don’t have to love everything. but you could stop being an entitled ass at any time!
“no lore??” well. you shat all over the last couple lore drops and nitpicked a bunch of stuff (with only the Auraboa fiasco deserving of any of it, and y’all were still pissed as hell after it was fixed). and you also went and nitpicked the breed page for Dusties and kept hounding on it, again, even after it was fixed. so yeah. no fuckin lore for you
after today i literally would not be surprised if staff gave up on the site within the next year. the loud portions of the userbase are the rudest, most ungrateful, childish, and entitled humans i’ve seen outside of working at a fucking Starbucks, and guess what? i loved myself and quit working at Starbucks
thanks for dragging the day down, you bratty assholes

animated tumblr icon masterpost
(EDIT (7/10): it is no longer possible to have an animated icon if you did not have one previously. staff has admitted that this "feature" was added accidentally and that it's already been patched. i'll be removing any now-irrelevant segments from the intro and the FAQ. check the notes if you want to see earlier versions of this post)
two days ago, tumblr added the ability to have an animated icon by using an animated webp without giving out any official information on it (from what i can tell). i'm making this post to reduce the amount of questions i get about this. i'll be updating it with any new information i come across. if you have any questions after reading this post, feel free to ask
before i start, as of now, the web version of tumblr plays animated icons automatically which means icons with flashing lights/colors are a danger to people with photosensitivity. do not abuse this feature! remember to keep your icon safe for others by avoiding using any animated images with flashing lights/colors
also, please note that i do not use the tumblr app and i don't know how it works or how it differs from the web version. i use the desktop website as well as the website on my phone's browser (safari)
with that out of the way, here are some frequently asked questions:
7) if a blog has an animated icon, the animation only plays if i click on the icon. otherwise it's stuck on the first frame. why is this?
it's probably because of the platform you're using tumblr on. i use the web version and this doesn't happen to me, it just automatically plays on its own continuously. from what i can tell, this bug(?) only occurs on the tumblr app (depending on which device you use)
8) i use the app and i can't see anyone's animated icons, it's stuck on the first frame no matter what i do. how do i fix this?
check to see if you need to update the app
9) all the animated icons on the page suddenly froze up, what do i do?
try scrolling a little bit, that should unfreeze them. i don't know why this happens or why doing that fixes it 🫥
10) i had an animated icon and now it won't move. why did this happen and how do i fix this?
unfortunately i don't know why this happens, sorry. i could be wrong but from what i've seen i don't think you can fix it ☹️
11) i currently have an animated icon, if i upload a different animated webp image will it still work?
from what i've seen, no. if you want to keep your animated icon as it is, i'd suggest not changing it
12) i have an animated icon, if i edit my blog appearance (without changing the icon) will it mess up my icon?
if you edit your blog appearance via the desktop theme editor (https://www.tumblr.com/customize/yoururl), it should be fine

MASTERLIST | NEXT PART
Part: 1
Pairing: Jason Todd x Female Reader
Length: 1.0k
Warnings: none
In hopes of showing your family you are doing fine after your last heartbreaking relationship, you hire Jason to pose as your boyfriend for the holidays. This will be a multi-chapter fic so be on the lookout for more updates! :)
_________________________________________________
You didn't know why you were doing this. His apartment building was nicer than expected and the staff had been lovely to show you to his room once they had run a background check on your driver's license.
In all honesty, you had no idea why the whole thing surprised you. People in his line of work were real people too, and they must have some sort of protected living situation. But this was definitely over the top. You had expected some sort of apartment hidden in the back alley crawling with all kinds of creeps. It was Gotham after all.
Swallowing hard and double-checking your phone to make sure you had the right address you pressed the ridiculously expensive-looking doorbell whose camera had been focused on you since you first approached the door.
You prayed he was as cute as his description sounded online. Black hair, tan skin, green eyes, and muscles that had his customer satisfaction rate rising to the top of your suggestion box. Plus a man who lived alone and had such a classy place would be attractive. Not that he had to be attractive, he just had to be capable of helping you over the holidays.
You heard footsteps behind the door and fixed your hair one last time as he slid what you assumed were the security locks on the door. At the noise of what seemed to be the final lock, you contemplated turning around and running back to your comfy apartment to drown your sorrows in a pint of mint chocolate chip ice cream. But you couldn't as you had already told your family you would be bringing him and they already expressed their joy in getting to meet your handsome new friend.
You held your breath as the door opened. And then exhaled deeply when he smiled at you warmly which made all of your insides melt. He was, in fact, devilishly handsome. Tan skin. Pitch black hair with strands of white which blended in a way that made you want to run your fingers through it. Striking green eyes. Muscles that were very visible as his arms stretched the sleeves of the black shirt he wore.
"You look nice," he exclaimed, his eyes slowly moving up and down to look at the outfit you had put on this morning.
He held the door to his apartment open and welcomed you inside.
Still stunned into silence at his giant build, you stood silently looking at the outfit he currently had on.
"You uh... you look nice too."
Nice was a bland way to put it. He looked like a Greek god getting ready to have his portrait painted. He also most definitely worked out.
"Thank you, I aim to please."
"Oh, right."
"Well, I do believe if we are to stay true to the schedule you sent me that you might want to come inside."
He gestured for you to enter again, and you moved behind him as he closed the door. As he shut the door, he immediately went to grab a folder off of his kitchen counter and opened it up to reveal the paperwork you assumed contained a contract to sign. He was a professional escort after all.
After finding the one you needed to sign, he handed it over with a pen.
"This is just a physical copy of the contract you should have seen on my website. It's just a non-disclosure agreement to protect ourselves if anything were to happen."
Your hand shook as you took the papers from him and laid them out to sign.
"What do you mean if anything were to happen?"
He smiled. "Oh you know, basically if you fell madly in love with me and I had to break your heart that you wouldn't take legal action against me."
You paused for a moment before signing not wanting to tell him that a broken heart put you in this position to start with. You had no intention of falling in love any time soon.
Once signed you passed it back to watch him sign his name underneath yours.
Jason Todd
You smiled. "Jason?"
"Hm?"
"Do you want me to call you Jason or something else?"
"Sweetheart, you can call me whatever you want. We are supposed to be dating."
"Ok, how about Jay?"
"That's perfect." He said with another insides melting smile. You were going to have to get used to that.
"So how does this work exactly," you said, motioning between the two of you. "I mean what exactly is the story we are planning on telling my family?"
"It's all pretend sweetheart," he said, placing the papers back into the folder, "we can say whatever we want."
"Oh right."
He turned towards you again but this time a shy smile crept on his face. "I hate to ask this as we are just meeting for the first time but, do you happen to have the first cash payment on you?"
"Oh yes..."
You said as you reached into your purse to grab the envelope full of cash as requested on his website. The price had been way out of your pay grade but you needed the best of the best even if it meant living off of noodles and tap water for a month.
Handing it over he placed it on the table like it was nothing.
"Aren't you going to count it?" You said rather boldly.
"I trust you."
He offered you another charming smile but it didn't calm your nerves as you stared at the envelope, hoping that the money you provided was the correct amount. You didn't want to mess this up.
He cocked his head, studying your reaction, "Hey, relax."
He reached for your shoulders, running his arms gently along yours.
"Remember you hired me because I'm the best of the best and that means I'm not going to do anything even if you are a few dollars short. I'm here to take the lead and show your family just how amazing I am at being your boyfriend."
As if sensing your lingering doubt he grabbed your chin gently moving your face so you looked into his eyes.
"Trust me, okay?"
You nodded and felt your lips curve up into a tentative smile. Maybe this would work out for the best. Maybe for once in your life, everyone would wish they were you.

Hey Sam! I have a DAF-related question I think is probably pretty silly, And Yet.
I have several monthly donations set up with Charityvest, and several others set up directly with my credit card that predate the DAF. I'd like to have everything come out of the DAF to simplify my records -- I do itemize them on my taxes, so keeping track is important. But is it really okay to call up these small nonprofits to tell them "hey cancel my donations in your system, I want to make things more complicated for you so it's more convenient for me"??
Not silly at all! Although I doubt you're making it more complicated for them. It basically just means they're getting the money from a third party they don't pay for instead of one they do (the credit card processor that charges your card each month). They deal with changes and cancellations all the time, and if in future your changes and cancellations are going through Charityvest, then that frees up their staff who don't have to deal with that.
When I set up my DAF via Charityvest, I did have several monthly donations I was making. For me, the process was pretty simple -- I went to the donation page, found the "If you'd like to change your monthly donation, contact us" link, and reached out via email.
I had a boilerplate letter that gave my name and the address they should have on file, then said, "I'd like to cancel my recurring monthly donation through your website. I'm moving the donation to be administered by Charityvest; I'll still be giving on a monthly basis, but the gift will come through my DAF." If you have a name for it, tell them "The gifts will be attached to [name of DAF]; please feel free to note this in my record." Then I said thanks for all the work they do, and that as soon as they confirmed the donation was cancelled, I'd put the new donation into process. Got zero pushback, got several nice comments thanking me for being a donor. :) You can modify that into bullet points for a phone call pretty easily.
You do have to keep an eye on them because sometimes the cancellation doesn't go through -- just check your bank around the time the donations normally get made. I had one of the four I was giving to at the time fail to cancel, but when I reached out to ask them to fix it, they cancelled it promptly and offered to refund the donation (I said don't bother, it wasn't a huge donation to start with).
The only downside, to them, is that they no longer list you as a recurring donor on the back end, but that's extremely minor in the grand scheme of things, and anyone looking at your record will see your monthly gifts and that they're coming from a DAF and make the rational assumption that you're just giving monthly through a different vehicle.
Good luck! And thank you for giving :)

tips for making your business more accessible for autistic people :)
(Please keep in mind these points only cover accessibility for autism. Of course I believe that we should make all spaces as accessible for everyone as possible, but please make your own post if you wish to write about another disability to help keep this one to the point!)
Use LED lights instead of fluorescent lights. Hypersensitive autistic people can often see them flickering and/or hear them humming and it can be extremely overwhelming. Try to keep lighting even and the actual lights themselves away from eye level. Fix flickering lights as soon as possible. I've personally had panic attacks JUST from flickering lights.
Have a consistent, average room temperature. Making your business extra hot or extra cold can be really overstimulating.
Don't play music. Having loud music, or any music at all, can be really distracting and overwhelming. If you must play music, keep it quiet, but loud enough to hear the lyrics clearly. A distant, quiet, incomprehensible noise can be just as distracting as a really loud noise.
Train employees to be tolerant and understanding of non-verbal forms of communication. Even teaching basic, work-related sign language can be helpful! (For the autistic and deaf community!) Provide each counter/worker with a note pad and pen for just-in-case.
Ensure that each item only has one price tag. Having multiple, overlaying price tags can be extremely distracting.
Make price tags clear and direct. Often I notice that price tags will use abbreviations or shortened (or lengthened!) versions of the product name on the tag. This can be really confusing. Keeping it as close to the name on the product as possible is much more helpful. It could even be helpful to have a small photograph of the item on the tag.
Have automatic doors if possible. Many autistic people struggle with co-ordination and having an automatic door can be really helpful.
Avoid bright and distracting colours when possible. Bright colours (such as neon, or fire-truck red) can be extremely overwhelming for autistic people.
Make click + collect an option for your store. If you do this please ensure to keep it updated to keep house-bound people in the loop! Be sure to also not upcharge items simply for being click and collect.
If you make your own products, please try to ensure that packaging and usage is easy and accessible. Many autistic people struggle with fine motor-co-ordination, or have hypermobility, which can make opening packages and other items difficult.
Have hand sanitiser and sanitising wipes available for use.
Have benches or a seat in your store incase anyone gets tired/needs a rest before they continue shopping.
Have clear directions on purchase instructions. Many restaurants, for example, do not directly state if they take your order at your seat, or if you order at the counter. Having these things directly written on a sign, AND on your website, can be extremely helpful to autistic people. We often research stores/restaurants before going and having as many clear directions as possible on there would be a massive help.
Have a clear map in your store of where the nearest toilet and emergency exits are. Autistic people often have trouble asking strangers for help and having this information accessible at all times can be really helpful. Ideally you would have this at your door or your counter!
Keep aisles wide and clear. Autistic people can often have social anxiety/phobia and giving people extra room to browse can be helpful.
Avoid having any loud beeping or loud alarms in your store.
Put yellow tape on the edge of stairs/steps/changes in floor depth. Autistic people often miss stairs/get unbalanced more easily than neurotypicals.
Always have a member of staff present, but don't force greetings. Allow customers to come to you first. Forcing a greeting on an autistic person is usually a sure-fire way to get them to leave the store as quickly as possible. If you must do customer greetings, please keep them short and don't try to sell anything. We can get confused or forget what we were doing if we get too distracted.
Have your available forms of payment written directly at your door/counter.
Have a number limit of people in the store, and enforce a 1.5m distance rule. We are still in a pandemic, afterall.
Have clear signs for where different products are, and a guide for where to find more specific products. Autistic people can often see different connections for items and categories and we may get lost. (ie- when looking for spices we may think it could be in the international food aisle, or the cooking basics aisle).
If you can think of anymore autism-related accessibility points, please add them!
Final note: of course some spaces just aren't meant for autistic people, all the time. For example, a hypersensitive autistic person is highly unlikely to go to a club, because clubs always have loud music. Please consider the purpose of your store/business while thinking about accessibility. However I believe businesses like restaurants, clothes stores, chemists/pharmacies and supermarkets should all aim to be as accessible as possible.
