Ok ok ok so feel free to ignore if this doesn't make your brain go brrrr like it is doing to mine right now, and I realize this fits zero even tangentially canon timelines, but I was reading another post about Leia and suddenly couldn't stop imagining a little Princess Leia causing chaos aboard the Executor or in Imperial Center or w/e and Vader and 2224 chasing after her trying to deal with the situation and utterly failing. Also maybe at the end she and Vader are just screaming at each other, arms akimbo, threatening to murder each other, and 2224 just blinks, wide-eyed, has a terrible thought, and then goes, Nope, not my division! I just- had this whole Loathsome Coworkers scenario appear fully formed in my brain and had to share.

Y/n is really good with combat and stuff, so they're aloud to go in missions and everything, but maybe they have a rough time on one and come back hurt so Poe has to take care of them?? (making sure they eat, changing their bandages, trying to get them to rest so they can heal despite how stubborn they are, etc.)

You and Poe always had this sort of, ‘If you do it, I’ll do it’ mentality that not only got the two of you into trouble, but life threatening situations on occasion.

Being one of the youngest resistance fighters who was taken in by General Leia Organa herself, it was often easy to escape the lectures and rants that accompanied the mischief.

Because Leia treated you both as her own children, it was a given that you would often act like siblings- whose bickering never seemed to end- but were also partners in crime.

From stealing jets, to painting a rude instructors room a bright neon color, the two of you felt as if you could do anything together and get away with it while laughing your asses off.

Perhaps all of that was why you found yourself in that situation, the feeling of being unstoppable becoming too overpowering. Your young mind not knowing any better. Not like Poe, who was actually the adult, and should have known and taught you better about.

There was a chance that this was partly his fault- Leia would think so, anyway. On numerous occasions, he had gotten himself into some dangerous situations that left way too much room for doubt about whether he would get out of it or not. And now, you had done the same thing, and weren’t even the slightest bit worried.

You had watched countless times from base as Poe easily slipped away from death's grasp after backing himself into a situation that called for it. And now, you felt like you could do so too.

The two of you were partners in crime, after all. You did everything together. So if he could get out of it, then you could too.

There had to be at least seven troopers surrounding you, each with blasters pointed at your chest.

This should be a piece of cake.

Despite the circumstances, a smirk grew on your face. Poe has faced far worse than this, clearly it was nothing you couldn’t handle.

You, along with Poe and a few other resistance fighters, had been handpicked by the general herself for this mission. The objective was to sneak into an imperial base unnoticed, grab a hard drive containing information about the empire's latest plans, and slip out without making a sound.

Simple enough. Until it wasn’t.

You, being young, were purposeful for many reasons. Being able to get into small spaces that the others couldn’t, hiding with ease in almost any place.

However, that also meant that you stuck out like a sore thumb when trying to sneak back out amongst a group of adults. Something all of you had been too caught up with other plans to notice.

And now, even though you were cornered, you were going to be fine.

Wait.

This wasn’t like other situations. You weren’t able to wield the force and you didn’t have a lightsaber like Rey. You didn’t even have a deflector shield like Poe often did.

Sure, you were very skilled when it came to combat, but you doubted the troopers were about to put down their blasters for a good old fashioned fist fight.

Realization of just how doomed you were crossed your features when it was far too late.

“Y/n!”

A voice tore through the chaos of the battle. Poe.

The trooper standing closest to you finally pulled the trigger.

The last thing you remembered seeing was Poe, fighting like hell to get to you from all the way across the hanger, a look of nothing but pure distress and desperation on his face.

Slowly, you began stirring.

The first thing you noticed was a steady beeping in a place that seemed too far away to reach. You could only hear it through a clouded, muffling the sound.

You had to practically swim through it to reach the source of the noise, and when it finally became clear, you were able to crack your eyes open.

It took you a second to try to adjust to the bright lights beaming down at you, but when you did, you began to take in your surroundings.

You were in a stark white room that you recognized to be one of the medical spaces, and you were laying on your back on one of the beds. Poe was just to your right, sitting in a chair with his arms resting on his knees and fingers laced behind his head.

Under different circumstances, if you couldn’t see the dark bags under his eyes and the disheveled state of his hair, you would have laughed at how ridiculous and out of place he looked in the imperial clothes he had used for the mission, ones that were at least a size too big for him.

“Poe?” Your voice was scratchy.

His head snapped up immediately and a sigh of relief fell from his lips, “Hey,” He breathed out, jumping up and standing over you, eyes worriedly scanning over your body, “How are you feeling?”

“Fine,” You tried to pull yourself into a sitting position, only to be gently stopped and pushed back down onto the mattress.

“Don’t,” His voice was slightly strained, “Just lay down. You’ll hurt yourself.”

A frown pulled on your lips. This was so unlike Poe, the man you knew to live on the edge. Not to worry about a silly little injury, “I’m fine.” There was some slight agitation in your tone now.

“You got shot in the shoulder,” He gently lead you back down again, though his voice was clipped, “You’re definitely not fine.”

You furrowed your eyebrows and gave him an incredulous look, “What has gotten into you? I’m fine. Nothing we can’t handle.”

Poe's eyebrows shot up, “We? You’re the one who got shot.”

A shrug of your shoulders, “Well, yeah, but you’ve dealt with worse.”

His face dropped, “What? You think that just because I can handle something like that, you can too?”

Now, you were beyond confused, “Of course. Why couldn’t I?”

“Oh, maker,” He breathed out in horror, dropping back into his seat and rubbing his hands down his face.

“What’s the matter? What’s wrong?” You asked, worry seeping into your voice.

“N/n,” His eyes shone as he looked up at you, “I’m a grown adult, you’re a teenager.”

Your eyebrows furrowed, “Yeah. So?”

“So, of course you can’t handle the same things I can. You’re still just a kid.”

“What the hell are you talking about?” Suddenly defensive, “We can do anything that the other can. We’ve always been like that.”

He shook his head helplessly, “I had no idea you thought like that,” It was as if he was talking to himself, but you could hear it too, “If I had known… What was I thinking? Always running around and goofing off with you as if I was a kid? Of course you’ll get confused, you know I’m older, but you somehow think we’re the same.”

His words were beginning to sting your heart, “What are you talking about?”

“N/n,” He said softly, getting out of the chair and crouching down beside you, gently taking your hand in his, “I’m so sorry you were ever under the assumption that just because I do something stupid and somehow get away with my life, doesn’t mean you can too. I would never want you to risk your life that way just because I could do it.”

“So what? We shouldn’t be hanging out? We shouldn’t be having fun?” Tears had begun to well in your eyes as you whispered out the words.

“That’s not what I’m saying.” He shook his head, “I love you, I really do, you’re my best friend. You just shouldn’t try to be like me.” A small, playful smile lit up his face as he tried to ease the tension, “Besides, you know I’m an idiot.”

You let out a watery chuckle, “Yeah, you are.”

Poe smiled, “So, this means you won’t put yourself in danger anymore just because you think I can do it?”

The nod of your head was enough to make him sag in relief, “Good, now come on, I’m gonna go tell Leia you’re up. She wants to give you an earful about putting yourself into dangerous situations.”

idk if you have anons or anything but man I'm really anoning you a lot my b, I'm just having epiphany after epiphany over here feyre and rhysand under the mountain has similar energy to leia and jabba the hutt game of thrones has a lot of gross shit some even similar to this but i don't think its so romanticized(?), its not meant to be sexy, its meant to be as it is rereading acotar again with a new understanding and feeling icky cuz the first time i read that was in 6th grade around when it first came out i think, and i think it may have been negatively impacted how i view relationships w men... yikes

I love the Leia and Jabba the Hut comparison. For me, Feysand in general had the exact same vibe as Juliette Ferrars and Aaron Warner from Shatter Me. I DNFed Shatter Me the moment I realized that prick was endgame. I can't remember which book exactly I realized this at, but it was when I realized Aaron could completely deactivate Juliette's touch that allowed me to figure it out, plus the suggestiveness sprinkled into Juliette's fucking abuse by Aaron (kind of like feysand utm). I DNFed ACOTAR the first time around after that wedding scene in ACOMAF because I knew Rhysand was endgame. I came back to it a few years later because I wanted to read Crescent City and someone told me to read ACOTAR before Crescent City so I told myself to finish it and be a critic. But ACOMAF was so hard to get through, oh my god... And it personally made me super uncomfortable because the abuse paired with the trauma dumping and gaslighting on Rhysand's part reminded me a little too much of my own father. I didn't even realize this was why I hated the idea so much until my boyfriend opened my eyes to how fucking horrible my father is. Please don't feel bad about sending asks, I love to talk as long as you're not attacking me!

I am a bit older than the average tumblr person. As a small child I saw Star Wars when it was a first run movie in the theaters. The beginning where Leia's tiny ship flashed by and the Star Destroyer took a minute to pass was mindblowing.

I am a certified SCUBA instructor, although I haven't been teaching status in a long time. I once punched a (very small) shark in the face with a video camera when it tried to have a go at me.

In no way, shape or form am I an important person, but I have a weird collection of people I have at most two degrees of separation from (as in I have at minimum had a conversation with someone who has had a conversation with that person). "Alright, here we are," Eric narrated as he pulled the family mini-van into the parking lot of Leia's elementary school. They all piled out of the car and watched the other students and their families heading towards the school's gymnasium, most of them lugging instrument cases.

Leia clutched the handle of her clarinet case tightly. Were her fingers sweating? She didn't know they could do that.

"Maplewood Elementary's star performer has arrived," Eric continued in a sing-song voice. He tapped the back of Leia's head affectionately. "C'mon, we better get in there. Gotta get front row seats." He was wearing a camera around his neck, and Leia eyed it wearily.

Eric gestured to Leia's grandparents, and they smiled at her brightly and started to follow him towards the school. But Leia felt like she was glued to the spot. Her feet wouldn't move. Only her mom noticed.

"Yeah, you guys go ahead. Save a row of seats," Donna stepped forward. She touched Leia's arm. "Give us one minute, okay?"

"Okay," Eric hesitated for only a moment, his eyes flicking between Donna and Leia uncertainly. "But don't be too long. Show starts at 6!"

Donna put her hand up in acknowledgement and they all headed for the gymnasium door, leaving mother and daughter alone in silence.

"You okay?"

Her mom's words unleashed an unexpected torrent of vulnerable emotions, and to her horror, Leia started to cry.

"N-no," she choked on her sob, and Donna immediately embraced her. "I'm s-so n-nervous, Mom!"

"Oh, Le-Le." Donna sighed, and pressed a reassuring kiss to to her daughter's temple. "It's okay." Leia continued to cry, shaking harder now, and Donna hugged her tighter. "I'm right here baby. It's okay," she whispered.

"W-what if I m-mess up?" Leia gasped through her tears, clutching onto her mother tightly. "I have a s-solo, Mom. E-everybody's gonna be looking at me."

"Then you mess up," Donna shrugged. "That's alright." She pulled back slightly and braced her hands against Leia's shoulders. "Honey, it's a 6th grade band concert. No one is expecting perfection from you." She raised her eyebrows imploringly. "Okay?"

"B-but - "

"But you know what?" Donna smiled at her. "I doubt you'll mess up. Because you have practiced this thing day in and day out for three months. I bet you know it in your sleep." She chuckled. "I know it in my sleep."

Leia flashed a smile briefly, but Donna could tell she was still worried. She chewed her lip, mulling over a question. Finally, she spit it out. "Mom, do I - do I have to do this?"

"Leia. I'm never gonna make you do something you don't really want to do."

Leia breathed out a sigh of relief. She met her mom's eyes, grateful. "I just - I don't want to let you guys down," she said softly, her eyes filling up with tears.

"Le-Le," Donna grabbed her hands. Her own eyes were getting wet. "You won't. You can't. Your dad and I are proud of you always, kiddo. He’d be in the first row with that camera whether you’re first chair or the last chair." She bit her lip. "I just don't want you to let yourself down by missing out on this opportunity." Now she squeezed Leia's hands affectionately. "You've worked so hard for this, honey. Earning first chair this year, all your practice - I just - " she cleared the lump in her throat. "Don't let yourself down, Leia."

The little girl nodded, a determined edge in her eyes for the first time. She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand, undainty, and then straightened her blouse.

oh my god please tell me more about practical effects i LOVE practical effects

hi anon i owe you my life. here’s some stuff i learned from the industrial light and magic docuseries i jusf finished watching & also the george lucas bio i finished recently (i recommend both to ppl who care abt star wars history or the docuseries if u care abt effects)

1. in order to do the shots they wanted for star wars they had to invent a camera that could do the things they needed. it’s called a motion control camera & they needed it so they could make composite shots. basically rhe camera needed to be able to follow the same exact path multiple times so they could film multiple elements. this took a shitton of time and money bc they had to invent it and then learn how to use it. and they did do it! but george lucas was pissed w how long it took & fired the guy who had invented the camera

2. i was really fascinated by the use of matte paintings for star wars...first of all one of the main people doing matte paintings was harrison ellenshaw, son of peter ellenshaw, who famously did the matte paintings for mary poppins. but like when obi wan is trying to turn the tractor beam switch off and he's over a bottomless pit in the death star, that background is a matte painting! they're really well done like i wouldnt have guessed

3. a lot of the less important/central models are just repurposed hobbyist models. like wwii planes and tanks and shit. they'd buy them in bulk and then break them apart and repurpose them for whatever

4. the death star trenches were like. they made these big rubber molds of all these different pieces that they had to then cut up and put in random patterns so it wouldnt LOOK like it came from the same like handful of molds, right. and it was everyone's least favorite thing to construct.

5. when lucas showed the rough cut of star wars to all his filmmaker buddies they were mostly like. hey, this is shit. but there was one effect, where 3po and r2 leave leia's ship in an escape pod. and they put like, mica powder on the model, so it would look like the escape hatch like sparked and fuses blew, basically. and THAT scene, people liked bc it looked cool and ppl who were filmmakers knew that that had to have been some like smart effect.

i absolutely cannot stop thinking about dream asking hob if he's his kept man and like... i don't think hob would ever want to go live in the dreaming, not really, and i don't think dream would ever ask him to. but i DO think that, you know, technology being what it is, maybe an immortal might want to fully disappear for a few years between identities. just to be safe, you understand. and if that immortal spent those few years warming a king's bed...

Suna nodded, "I have a jacket with me, though," he said as he pulled the jacket that was hanging on his waist.

You chuckled with his consideration, a warm hand tugging your heart, "It's fine, Suna, really. I told you, I'm not cold-"

"It's not for you?" Suna looked at you, a confused look at his face while he wore the sleeves of his jacket in the process.

Your jaw dropped as you stare at your boyfriend zipping his jacket, heaving a contented sigh with the slight comfort his stupid jacket brings.
