✉️ Seline Granger-Liao, you got mail!
The bouquet of wildflowers is left propped up against the door of the Granger-Liao house on the morning of the flower dance, long after the official flowergrams have been delivered.
The enclosed card reads:
🌷 Roses are red, 🌷
🪻 This poem is lame, 🌻
🌻 To dance by myself, 🪻
🌷Would be a real shame🌷
(Or, like, it would be fine, probably, but it would be more fun with you!)
(This is for Seline, by the way - sorry for the confusion if anyone else lives here!)
Danny has forgotten to sign his name.
seline stares down at the bouquet from where she stands, hands full, near the doorstop. she puts down the bags of groceries and picks up the note, assuming maudie had gotten an admirer somehow and seline was now tasked with the trying — and humiliating — task of delivering them to her. like some sort of delivery girl. she reads the note quickly, blushing furiously as her eyes fall on her name, and she bites her cheek to suppress a shocked gasp. but who? seline frowns for a moment, trying to study the penmanship for any sort of recognition. she puts it in her pocket and picks up the bouquet, determined to find out who is playing this awful prank on her. she walks through the door, groceries forgotten on the front porch.

Cuarbury incident? 👀
EHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHE YES!!!!
SO There's a lot of context and details about it here: https://icyheart-and-friends.tumblr.com/post/666809537499725824/icyheart-and-friends-yall-want-some-selin
But the general basic rundown of it is:
Ruru sent Selin to Cuarbury to meet up with an informant to get information on her mother. They were planned to meet up at Cuarbury's history museum!
However while waiting for said informant, Selin got an intense feeling and quickly went to investigate and found that his dad's skeleton was displayed as if it was attacking and destroyed a display of ruins of a holy ground! (Details of how that came to happen in the link above, but in basics it's not true and it's a story made up by the people that found his dad's skeleton pieces)
Selin started to have a really bad panic attack at the sight because 1) That's his fucking dad and that's the first time he's seen him since him and his mother left to do somethings when he was young (and they never came back bc they were killed) and 2) He *knows* that his dad wouldn't do something like that! On top of that his desire for worship/attention as a result of his god complex (caused by his home village treating him like a god as they raised him and he got older) making it worse, he was losing control over himself and his dragon form! In a museum full of people!
People surrounded him and ended up taking pictures and videos of it happening and since he was surrounded and couldn't find a way out it made said panic SO much worse!
A brave kid came forward and offered Selin their stuffed weighted dragon that they called Beanie to try to help calm him down bc it always calms them down, and it worked!
Kid got scolded by their parents bc that was dangerous and apologize to Selin, Selin apologizes back and apologizes to anyone still around. The family invite Selin to join them under the belief that he's new to the city.
They also let him stay with them for a little bit and he got his own Beanie made!
Tumblr media
It's a skunk dragon with googly eyes :> (skunks are his favorite animal)
Luckily Ruru has a special trick up her sleeve to help contain and delete/destroy any footage and photos of the incident, even if it happened to destroy some devices they were stored on! The informant met up with one of Ruru's other employees so she still got the information she needed as well!
But simply this incident could've gone VERY VERY VERY wrong! It would've been horrible if Selin wasn't able to calm down and it would've been horrible if the footage/photos did get out! Bc the display with his dad's skeleton paints dragons in a not great light and selin's panic would make them seem dangerous even by accident!
And fun fact! It was shortly after this incident that Crowbar joined Ruru's mob, was trained, and quickly started taking the out of city jobs (like going to Cuarbury) instead of Selin! And that's part of the reason Selin doesn't like Crowbar bc there's rumors Ruru is training him to become her new underboss and replace Selin! (Not exactly true but not exactly wrong)

Hello! feel free to skip this request if it makes you uncomfortable, but I just came up with what I think is a really funny concept. What if it is an Alastor x Reader (romantic or platonic) where the reader is watching a show like Euphoria, which has a lot of sex scenes and stuff. The reader isn't watching it for them, they just happen to be an important part of the show. Alastor walks in on the reader watching it and is just like 0-0.... and the reader is just like "I swear I can explain!!!"
Hmm... What if instead of a show, they were reading a book?

You were the book worm of the hotel.
Always with a different book every few weeks. So often that the Princess offered you to take care of the library in the hotel.
At first you declined, but then accepted it after realizing that no one really goes into the library. It would be quiet, peaceful, and you could take naps in there if needed.
Or that is what you thought at least.
.
It was a cold, foggy night.
The fog was so thick outside that a demon could barely see their hand in front of their face.
Alastor took a quick stroll around the hotel, the other residents having been asleep in their rooms hours ago. The Radio Demon hummed as he made sure all was well.
Only making a stop once he noticed a light coming from the library.
What demon could be awake at this hour?
He used his shadows to travel into the page scented room, quietly emerging behind the demon sitting on the couch, covered in a soft blanket and holding a book.
Still in the shadows, he went around to see the late night reader and cover of the book.
It was then he realized it was his companion, the soft spoken demon who always held a book wherever they went. Glancing down, he saw that the book in their hands had a picture of poisonous plants.
Poisons and Care.. Well, this sounds interesting~ He thought with a grin and moved to look over their shoulder.
They had flipped the page that they finished reading and leaned closer into the book, making him have to lean in as well.
He read..
"..on the desk. Hand gliding up her thigh, fingers edging their way under the seducing red garters on her plush skin. His other hand sliding up her stomach, gently caressing the side of her ribs as it got closer to her brea- "
The deer demon ripped himself away, feeling a blush come up on his cheeks. Hiding his face with his hand as he turned his back on the literature.
He didn't notice that he made such a racket, or that he got out of the shadows.
"Alastor?"
Glancing back, he can see them sitting up confused.
"What are you doing up so late?", they asked.
Moving his hand, he cleared his throat and fixed his suit.
"Forgive me.. I was just making sure that everything in the hotel was spick and span.", the deer said, still not making eye contact. "I'll let you go back to your...late night reading."
Noticing his odd demeanor, they glanced back and forth between him and the book, putting two and two together.
"Oh, oh my-!", they covered their mouth quickly before resting their hand back on the couch. "Um.. I don't know how much you read but this isn't just some smut filled thing.", they looked away. "This is..somewhat important to the plot and character development. Though it could just imply what happened.", they laughed nervously.
"I-", he cleared his throat again and straightened up. "I'll take your word for it."
His ears were pinned back as he made with way out of the room.
"Don't stay up too late dear.", Alastor said before bidding them a good night.
.
You waved as he left, staying still for a moment before sliding down from the couch and onto the floor with a groan, covering your face with the book.
I won't be able to look at him for at least two weeks..
Another noise of embarrassment left you.

This shit was a fucking acid trip, like most of the game.
Anyway, something that poked my brain was the Infirmary. For all this game's insanity, there were actually some decent roots planted for worldbuilding/ character development.
Tumblr media
It seems like the reason the cast ended up in Queen Bouncelia's domain is because they're treating the player as if they have 6 stars in GTA. Seline is no exception to this rule, and that seems to be her motivation for coming down to the lower floor, as she watched us leave in Chapter 3.
Toadster noted in his "Archives" that she was already hiding when brought in, and crying in her shell. She may have been antagonized by a bigger enemy- likely Kittysaurus or Tama/Chamataki (turtle chameleon thing), and she may have gone past the kingdom's walls for sanctuary. (That's just a loose theory, though.)
In any case, at some point she was frightened enough to shut down completely.
This could be some kind of anxiety attack, though there's no way to "diagnose" Seline at this point. Also interesting that Seline felt too afraid to even continue moving around on the lower floors. I think this is meant to speak to just how dangerous the lower floors are- if the giant ass snail is afraid, you should be, too.
Tumblr media
Next, Jumbo Josh. Toadster categorizes him as a "Green Gorilla", which in hindsight, weirdly makes a lot of sense.
Firstly, an adult silverback gorilla can bench up to 4,000 lbs (or at least, that's what google told me.) Not that we needed an explanation of why he was able to throw Stinger Flynn, but I can only assume that if we adjusted that number for his size...it probably checks out.
Second, the fact that he walks like a chiropractor's worst nightmare. It took me a second, but I FINALLY realized that his posture is meant to IMITATE A GORILLA. Like, look at this:
Tumblr media
DEFINITELY EXPLAINS WHY HE WALKS LIKE A HORSE IN GARRY'S MOD.
And thirdly, Josh's love for vegetables is also a gorilla trait. 85% of a gorilla's diet is leafy greens, with the remaining percentage basically amounting to termites and larvae.
Tumblr media
Not too much to say about the Fucked Up Birds, but still! Nice to see them finally displaying a flamingo behavior (AKA their sleeping posture) because they seemed to lean more heavily on ostrich behaviors in previous chapters.
Tumblr media
Toadster mentions in his archive for "The Teacher" that she keeps repeating the phrase "I can't be late" over and over to herself after being subdued.
He also notes that the bowling pins "calmed her down," which may not entirely be the case. In Chapter 3, in Banbaleena's "Classroom", each object had an assigned role like Cool Kid and Popular Kid. The bowling pins were meant to be the Bullies.
So Banbaleena is likely stuck in a prison of her own self-doubts right about now, which is doubly sad when considering her insistence in Chapter 3 that she was actually trying to be a good teacher. Either someone placed this idea in her head that she needs to strictly adhere to all these rules, or it's a stress she placed upon herself trying to fulfill her identity as a teacher.
Tumblr media
Stinger Flynn gets better as the story progresses. He seems to have an ego to the point where he sees himself as a savior that can't see the faults in his own plans. His initial "safest procedures" plan seemed so obvious to him, but it seems as if he measures success by efficiency rather than the cost of human lives. While he's smart, he's not immune to being wrong, though he has yet to learn this.
He also seems to suffer from some form of depression, or at least intense sadness, and we see this as he talks to Banban in the latest hallucination sequence. Makes sense- his intelligence would make him much more privy to all the horrible things happening around him. It seems as if his high intelligence comes at a high price.
Tumblr media
Last note- This might just be a case of recycling animations/rigs, but I think it's cute that Banban shares nearly the same emo pose as Banbaleena.

Another yapping session with MB yipeee!
nah in all seriousness i would like to talk about some things, now that my temper is gone.
we still remember the post on twt made by @/renhanasgf about Gato not being more inclusive, oorrrr that her poc character are ignored. (i wont talk about the real stuff from discord in this post since proofs are still gathered.)
well here i am! (sadly)
1.How many poc characters?
7 well known (or maybe more). who are those? well we'll start with Raven(tinr) or known as Selin as well, Chet Ichpujani(tinr/tpof), Strade(btd/tpof), Thomas(tpof), Jaqueline(tpof), Machete(tpof) and fucking Derek(tpof)
some of them dont have a full name (besides an alias) either because story wise it didnt mattered or because of their lore (Strade and Machete are criminals, doubt they would want a victim that escaped to expose their identity, no?) Also another detail, even some white characters do not have a last name, such as Sid(tinr), Dragon/Jace(tpof), Komodo/Mike(tpof), Chamomile(tpof), Richard(tpof) and probably some from 'Facility'.
their ethnicities are indeed unknown, either because it wouldnt really affect their story or it was avoided in case it could cause a conflict. dunno. about this i cant really talk a lot since her blogs are gone, thus i cannot dig into this matter anymore. although i believe having a hc on them is fine. ''- It is 100% okay to have ANY headcanons about my character!''-her website)
Raven was one of the well know character from Gato that is poc. her nationality is unknown due to the story (which i would recommend you to read tinr, pretty cool tbh). since her story goes deeper i would suggest you to also read her wiki (fanmade). sadly lots of stuff are now gone about her. still a lover character.
Strade. Strade is Strade. (kind of forgot what she said in the answer about his name but the wiki says ''Strade is not his actual birth name. It's similar to a placeholder name like John Doe. His birth name is unknown." still you can check out more here)
Chet Ichpujani is another character involved in tinr, a manager (i believe) at a semi-restaurant thing? in the end he offers to help Farz with his problem. pretty cool guy since he and Anthony Shore re-appeared in tpof. (picture below)
Tumblr media
Machete, ''Machete is the newest member of the desert group. He had to prove himself worthy by performing various criminal tasks to be allowed in. Despite his recent acceptance, the rest of the group remain wary of him. His quiet demeanor and decisive actions tend to unsettle the other members. He regrets everything he's done to be admitted into the group, but he chose to stop at nothing to get revenge for his sister. He feels as though he's completely lost his identity and humanity to his "purpose"." -wiki (also a small detail, he did everything to revenge his sister)
Tom/Thomas, ''Tom is a college student, taking a media development course centered around sound design. He took a few years off high school, kind of meandering through life without an aim for a while. However, he eventually found a passion for making music. Despite tons of research and hard work, he was never really able to get his brand off the ground, so he decided to head to college to get some formal education on the subject. Late one night, as he was about to head home, he was abducted by Komodo and Dragon.'' -wiki
Jaqueline, "Jaqueline is a young trades worker learning to paint houses. She takes pride in her work and also frequently goes to the gym. Her mother pesters her to get a higher education, but she loves her current career path. Due to the friction with her family over her job, she tends to choose to spend time with friends instead. She was violently abducted by Jack in broad daylight, unlucky to have no witnesses." -wiki
therefore, there's plenty of information, plus that lost from her blogs.
2.Model minority
must agree, her work from 2016 looked alike yet, in the last years she actually showed more bodies (like types)
here are some examples:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
also Strade's new model as well:
Tumblr media
quite diverse, is it not? i am aware i didnt show others as well but if you wish to (and i actually encourage to) you can view the rest here! Lawrence, Ren, Celia (or on pinterest!)
3. Conclusion
i still believe everyone can create whatever they wish, whatever character. the details are on their part. now i could understand Gato for being upset when someone doesnt draw their character as they are (such as changing the body type, skin colour, etc) but also cant blame those who feel like being ignored (trust me, had to survive the genshin fandom).
so the characters exist, thus i dont see the problem of not being inclusive (also, as she often said, you can hc her characters, thus i believe their ethnicities are free to chose for yourself)
that's it. as for the real deal (the discord stuff) i believe it's the best more proofs come. rn i dont see her as a racist artist, but that comment in spanish does sound in fact xenophobic... well, until more context is posted, we'll see
stay safe!

I'm in the fluffiest mood lately, so how about a no stakes sickfic. Movie night and the trip (Matt, Sel/Zaya) are home and decide to put on something like spiderverse or smth else, point being, either Isaiah or Matt gets super motion sick from it
Something fluffy it is. Thank you for the ask, Soup!!💙
Cinema sickness
The middle position was the best.
Matthew didn't notice when exactly they started to fight for it like that, but it was increasingly a place one of them got as special treat.
Like of course, when Isaiah was having his not so heart episodes that Seline still didn't know the cause of or when he was emotional. Then it wad Seline herself with a fever. She also usurped the spot most openly when she was well.
Matthew was a little too embarrassed to be that forward. Not when he was feeling fine.
They bought a camera projector they have been saving for a few months. Seline dreamed about the home cinema early on and Isaiah was such a movie buff, it was only to be expected.
Matthew found the cinema experience tiresome because of all the people, so their own private living room cinema because of the projector? Sounded fun. Though the cinema made for good people training.
"You guys didn't watch the second Spiderverse movie yet, right?" Seline said, taking control of the chromcast with her phone to put it on.
"I didn't see the first one either," Matthew grumbled as she climbed up between him and Isaiah who was scrolling through IMDb. He had a thing for ratings, while Seline loved comments and spoilers.
Matthew considered himself the only sane and commonly invested movie person. He liked to get surprised.
"The animation is out of this world. The first movie got an Oscar for it too, but they went overboard and beyond with the second. Each universe has a different animation style! It's the perfect movie for a cinema." Seline waved her phone in front of Matthew enthusiastically.
"Isn't animation for children?"
Isaiah and Seline both gave him scandalised looks. "In what hole did you live until now for such an outdated opinion?" Isaiah asked teasingly.
Matthew rolled his eyes. Didn't look like he would have a say today.
"I don't think you need the first one to understand," Seline said thoughtfully as she put the movie on. "They explain it pretty well, plus I can always explain things to you if you need it."
"You are still more of a fan of the first one, aren't you?" Isaiah said, bumping against her. They were sitting shoulder to shoulder, all three of them.
"I think the character development is simply better there? Also the relationships. The focus on bad mentor and a confused kid and different father figured...this one goes more into the romance storyline-"
"The focus just shifts from him to her's all-"
Matthew shook his head. "Alright, quit it. I want to see for myself."
The movie looked like a very expensive video game. The animation really was something else. Matthew understood quickly they would not be able to film stuff like this for real.
So many colours and so much quick movement. Their living room wall was basically flickering, going from one side of the colour spectrum to the next at rapid speed that had his head spinning.
How could there be so much happening on the screen? It was downright impossible to catch it all.
His eyes felt tired from it. It was all so fast and coupled with the music it was downright aggressive.
Matthew didn't notice when, but the left side of his head felt like someone held it in a vice grip. The more he watched and tried to make sense of what was happening, the more his left temple pounded in unison with his heart.
He found himself shaking his head to clear his vision, rubbing at the side of his face. He even tried closing one eye and then the other. But the images just kept coming and there was some kind of dramatic scene with spidermen all over the screen and damn, his head really hurt.
Seline was leaning her head against Isaiah's shoulder, her legs stretched out and touching them both. Her lap seemed very inviting.
Matt leaned to the side experimentally. He wanted to go slow and see how that would be taken, but the possibility of getting some cover from the screen was getting more irresistible by the second.
He slumped down into Seline's lap, twisting so his face was against her stomach. The lights were all over the living room, reaching even to the windows and the kitchen. No hiding from them.
Matthew closed his eyes, face buried in Seline's belly. He secured her from squirming with his arm over her torso, stretched out all the way to Isaiah's tight. If the other wolf wanted to protest or made any move of displeasure, Matt would quickly notice from that position.
His head hurt. Why just the left side of his face? It was tingling.
Everything was moving too much. The dizzying spinning sensation didn't quite go away, although he had his eyes squeezed shut and wasn't looking.
Not to mention he was starting to feel vaguely queasy, his dinner sloshing in his stomach angrily.
"Mattie, you aren't watching," Seline admonished softly. Her hand went into his hair though, petting it softly. He melted under her touch, grateful for a pleasant feeling to focus on.
Suddenly there was the incredible sound of the movie stopping.
"Matt? You tired?" Isaiah asked, shifting somewhere behind his head.
"Mhhhhhhhhmmmm." Was he that obvious? Suspicious? He wanted to stay huddled there in the softness, thanks.
Isaiah's hand landed on his arm. The older wolf reserved his touches for when Matthew felt sick. But they were so physically close these days, because of Seline of course, no other reason, Matthew kind of craved it, even when he didn't need it.
Or maybe it would count now. But he didn't want to ruin the celebratory mood by being a baby. It was a stupid children's movie, for God's sake.
"We can just call it a night, I think. Continuation tomorrow," Isaiah suggested, ever the peace keeper trying to accommodate everyone.
It sounded nice to not continue the movie in any case. But going to bed created a new set of problems.
Matthew would have to move.
Seline wiggled under his head. "You are heavy," she said playfully. She seemed more open to the gesture than Matthew expected. For no reason at all.
Matthew hummed non-committalally not sure how to explain or escape his predicament without losing his dinner. His stomach was churning angrily and his head was still pounding, sound or not.
Isaiah chucked. "You can sleep here for all I care, but at least let the lady get her PJs."
Matthew huffed at that, but opening his mouth wasn't a good idea. A little burp escaped, muffled against Seline's ribcage.
Seline's fingers in his hair stilled. "Mattie? You feeling alright?"
Did she notice that he got burpy when he was about to spew? He could just be full. Damn it all, the risks of living with people so closely.
Another burp, this time a little louder and wetter. Matthew pressed his face closer into Seline's shirt. It smelled of rain and ozone and grapefruit.
He felt both of their gazes on him without looking. They were probably mouthing something to each other at this point. He could picture it vividly.
The pain in his left temple spiked and he moaned quietly.
Seline's cold hand cupped his nape, stroking his neck up to his cheek where she could reach.
"...If I move, I'll hurl," he admitted finally, figuring he should inform her of the danger she was currently in.
The sigh came from Isaiah though, as the raven haired man moved gently away from the sofa into the direction of the kitchen.
"What's wrong? Is your belly upset?"
Jesus, that sounded childish when she said it like that. Not to mention that weird new Mattie nickname.
"Headhurtss," he manged to get through his gritted teeth, still entirely muffled against her stomach. It was quiet, churning only gently, like a purring cat.
"Has it been hurting for long?" She sounded amazingly calm considering he was lying across her lap. "You seemed fine to me," she said with puzzlement. He could imagine the way her forehead creased, a little wrinkle between her eyebrows as she thought back about the evening.
He opened his mouth the respond, but another burp rushed out instead. Pocket of air against her stomach. Saliva was flooding his mouth.
Matthew loosed his hold on her reluctantly, turning so he would be lying on her knees. He covered his eyes with his hands. "Ow."
Seline placed her hands on both sides of his face. "Where?" Her voice was impossibly soft.
He pushed her cool hand - how was it so cool? - against the left side of his forehead.
He felt more than saw two of her fingertips on his temple, making tiny circular movements against it. She bowled over him, her lips hovering over his ear. "How is this? Should I stop?"
"No, that's nice," he said, relaxing a little. The gentle pressure felt good against the pain, though his stomach was still roiling.
Isaiah came back then, the sofa dipping under his weight as he knelt on Matthew's other side. "I got a bowl if you need it."
"Not the nice popcorn bowl, come on," Seline complained, lifting her head.
"It's big and deep," Isaiah protested, sounding amused.
Matthew groaned at the banter. The headache was giving away a bit at the message, but the nausea rose steadily no matter what he did. He felt air in his throat and spit flooding his mouth. He didn't want to move away from Seline's fingers or the attention, but his stomach cramped angrily then.
It had him shooting up into general direction of up. Except he felt dizzy right away, swaying and moaning.
Isaiah grabbed his shoulder to steady him.
Matthew held his eyes shut against the spinning of the room, trusting him to have the bowl at the right place, cause he couldn't aim. His head exploded on his left side with the sensation and puke rocketed into his mouth.
He was right to trust him. The vomit made a splashing sound against the bowl without him even looking, Isaiah holding it under hid chin.
Seline's hands came to cup his forehead from behind. "You are okay, you are okay. Just get it up."
Matthew gave in to his body completely then, a little more voluntarily at the support. His senses were all over the place. He couldn't tell which was was up and down and his left side of the face as pounding and burning from warmth.
More waves of vomit came, easier to bring up now that he wasn't fighting it. When he thought he would catch a break, a loud burp brought in one more splash and then two more. His back arched, only Isaiah's hold on his shoulder keeping him upright. The sofa was moving like a water bed.
When he was finished, he spat the rest of the foul taste and slumped blindly back into Seline's lap. He wanted her nice scent and her cool hands and the little message against his temple that had a drilling machine against it.
"Better now?" she asked, her hands on his face just like he wanted, stroking his cheek and forehead.
"Mhhhhhhhhhmmmm." There was a relief from the nausea, but he was still afraid to open his eyes.
He could vaguely sense Isaiah's movements as he got rid of the bowl, returned to position it next to Matthew. Then circled around, fitting himself into the opening between Matthew's side and the sofa.
Matthew wasn't sure when vomiting because a group activity, or if he shouldn't apologise or feel embarrassed for making a fool of himself.
He sighed contendly as Seline went back to massaging his temple. Isaiah was rubbing his arm gently, as if to remind him he was there.
And who was Matthew to refuse the middle spot?

A long-awaited report out this week found that medical professionals in the UK who advocate for gender transition in children are misguided ideologues.
Written by British pediatrician Dr. Hilary Cass, The Cass Review, which is nearly 400 pages and took more than four years to compile, comes to the following conclusions:
Thousands of vulnerable young people were given life-altering treatments with “no good evidence on the long-term outcomes of interventions to manage gender-related distress.”
“It has been suggested that hormone treatment reduces the elevated risk of death by suicide in this population, but the evidence found did not support this conclusion.”
“Social justice” ideology is driving medical decision-making, and “the toxicity of the debate” has created an environment “where professionals are so afraid to openly discuss their views.”
Activists insist the science on this matter is settled, but Cass’s tone recalls a stern British nanny calmly explaining to unruly children how to get their room in order. She shows us that everything about this issue is unsettled, and unsettling. For instance, she notes that “social transition”—when very young children assume other gender identities—is an “active intervention” that may set youths on a path to medical transition. And it may even make gender dysphoria worse.
The review, commissioned by England’s National Health Service, comes after more than a decade of whistleblowing by clinicians at the country’s Gender Identity Development Services, or GIDS, which was established in 1989 (but mostly off the radar for its first 20 years, because few children and families sought its services).
These whistleblowers detailed how kids were fast-tracked to medication while a culture of fear grew around raising any concerns, even as demand for youth gender medicine exploded. Eventually, the NHS decommissioned GIDS and hired the neutral, no-nonsense Cass to detail what went wrong and what to do right moving forward.
Her report made the further damning conclusions:
Clinicians “are unable to reliably predict which children/young people will transition successfully and which might regret or detransition at a later date.”
A disproportionate number of patients were “birth registered females presenting in adolescence. . . . a different cohort from that looked at by earlier studies.”
Many parents feared their children had been medicalized by professionals who didn’t take other difficulties into account, “such as loss of a parent, traumatic illness, diagnosis of neurodiversity, and isolation or bullying in school.”
There is a lack of strong evidence to show that puberty blockers “may improve gender dysphoria or overall mental health.”
The majority of gender-dysphoric patients in early studies found that their symptoms desisted during puberty, with most coming out as gay or bisexual later.
Cass notes that “for most young people, a medical pathway will not be the best way to manage their gender-related distress.” She supports expanding the treatment to regional, holistic centers, essentially ending the specialist gender clinic model. That treatment should be based on unbiased psychological care, and robust and consistent evaluation tools must be developed so reliable evidence can finally be gathered.
This final report—and an interim one Cass issued in 2022—echoes what a number of Western nations, such as Finland and Sweden, have found when they reviewed their own youth gender services. It also underscores what we see in the United States: poor quality research, an unstudied population, and detransitioners traumatized by the treatment they received.
Today, red states are banning the medicalization of gender dysphoric youth, while some blue states have declared themselves medical sanctuaries for minors seeking transition. Medical associations—from the American Academy of Pediatrics to the American Psychological Association—continue to support the “affirmative” model criticized by Cass in her report.
In her review, Cass directly addresses the 9,000 young people who have moved through gender treatments via the NHS, stating bluntly: research “has let us all down, most importantly you.”
The U.S. needs to form a truly bipartisan commission that looks at the evidence regarding youth gender medicine. As things stand now, we will continue to be stuck in a perpetual culture war, with parents and distressed kids paying the price.

Important study published today investigating why some people develop #LongCovid
The most striking finding is a massive disconnect between the humoral (B-cell) and cellular immune (T-cell) response in Long COVID patients.
In summary, these two systems should work together to take care of the virus: the B-cells attach themselves to viral particles to block the virus from entering the cell, while the T-cells kill cells that get infected.
These two systems are coordinated in the recovered COVID patients but not in the Long COVID patients.
Half of the Long COVID patients who produced coronavirus-specific T-cells produced no antibodies to the virus.
Putting all the pieces together, Long Covid patients present a highly inflammatory state, probably driven by immune dysregulation.
With 3 ongoing big NIH-funded T-cell studies underway (Mark Davis at Stanford, Selin-Gill Harvard, Derya Unutmaz at Jackson labs), T-cells are potentially a big deal in ME/CFS. We need to remain optimistic about it!

quarterly book review: first quarter
since 2024 began, i have read about 4 books (5 if you count one started in december and finished in january) and i’m reviewing the books I’ve read through january & feburary. the reviews will be in chronological order and the ratings are from goodreads.
the idiot by elif batuman: 5 stars
elif batuman is a masterful writer. the way she is able to articulate selin’s thoughts and philosophies authentically whilst using dialogue to illustrate humor and critique of her thoughts, too. selin is an incredibly relatable character and her composition of her experiences resonate with me too, since we have similar lives and reactions. i also love the setting of harvard in the late 90s, referencing classic intellectualism adds to the introspection of selin and the perceived intelligence of those around her, or how she perceives intellect anyway. both the setting and the stream of consciousness makes up for the fact that the story doesn’t really have an innate plot to it until later on, the thoughts add the development.
jazz by toni morrison: 5 stars
the plot of this book is so enticing and the unknown narrator’s commentary contributes to a lot of the foreshadowing and storytelling aspects of the novel. the pov’s of the main characters joe, violet, dorcas, and later felice add to the overall narrative as opposed to takes away from it, which can happen. the social themes of race, gender, mental health, and the dynamics it creates really establishes this book in a way as a social commentary for black feminist literary criticism and sociological theory. the description of daily life and the characters actions really bring a magnetic quality to the scenes and development of the plot. the flashbacks are done really well too.
the bell jar by sylvia plath: 4 stars
sylvia plath has this way of saying exactly what people feel, a true gift of words. the fig tree metaphor in the beginning of the book is a sneak peek into to her writing style seen in her poetry and the unabridged journals. the middle to end portion is a little bit drawn out and plath should’ve utilized the setting of a new england college when esther returns from new york. it's status as an iconic work in the feminist literature space is taken into account when reading as you analyze every word on a page in hopes of figuring out how it got there.
the catcher in the rye by j.d salinger: 5 stars
holden caulfield is incredibly relatable and a sentiment to teenage angst and its place in a society. the character holden is worth the 5 stars because it portrays teen angst in a honest yet critical way that is hard to do as an adult writer.
sula by toni morrison: 4 stars
i consider sula and the bell jar to be literary kindred spirits. this book truly does speak to black feminist literary criticism and is considered an iconic piece in the feminist literature landscape despite it being a bit difficult to comprehend. the depictions of nel and sula as children was the best part of the story, since it shows the message of female friendship and camaraderie among women and how such bonds can be tested and broken by men and the patriarchy. sula is also an incredibly powerful piece in terms of mental health, and kind of provides a guide through the characters actions on how not to deal with it. overall, sula’s depictions of feminism, patriarchy, love and marriage, and mental health are a testament of the sociopolitical climate in black america in both morrison’s time and the present.

Do your OCs have canon sexualities? If so what are they?
Selin, Hussein, Johnny and Bo are unlabeled, they're pretty much free real estate (they've all been in a f/m relationship)
They're basically the embodiment of this meme
Tumblr media
Lucky doesn't rlly like labeling himself either but he's bi, AJ is gay, Carson is transhet, Zoe is also bi
There are other characters but they're still in development.

Open Starter @saltflatsstarters
With a scrunched nose Selin was watching the scene in front of her develop. A man was handing over a bouquet of flowers, the woman with her hands in front of her mouth out of surprise that this was happening, as if she could not believe that the man was finally giving her flowers. “You know, I will never understand the use of Valentine’s Day. If you can’t buy flowers for your partner on a normal day, why would you do it on a commercial day like today?” She asked the person standing next to her. Romance… Selin wasn’t sure if she was cut out for it. Or maybe she did not find the right person for it just yet. Who knows? “If you were ready to get flowers for your partner, please ignore me though.”

❤️ RED  HEART  —  what is/are your love language(s)? how do you use it/them to communicate your feelings about others?
seline is an avid gift-giver. she makes funky things and gives them out as thank yous, as hellos, as see you later, as anything really. she has a bit of an issue where she might give out more than she sells, but for the people in stardew valley, she thinks its worth it. they're all her family, no matter how they all feel about her. acts of service is also another one of her love languages. she will do small tasks to offload another persons stress any day of the week. her love languages is not communication. this may develop later as she does, but right now it's something she is awful at. physical touch is also low on the list, but mostly because she hasn't felt comfortable with many people.

Warnings? ⚠
⚠ you were demoted🎉 ⚠
Tumblr media
You hated working with other people.
Its always been like that since you had to deal with idiots in group projects.
There was always someone who screwed up, and instead of owning up to their mistakes they would blame it on someone else.
In this case, you.
You've been working for the C&A company for four years, doing your best to get a promotion and work on something exciting.
Of course nothing really goes as planned.
Someone had blamed you for their mess and you were demoted.
And the scary part of that is putting on the headset to help the development of the odd and unpredictable AI known as "CAINE."
The company didn't care much, as long as they had a test dummy.
You knew a worker that had recently put on a headset, but you didn't think you'd also end up in the same boat.
Maybe I'll see her there..
You watched someone turn on the computer and set everything up. Once they finished, they pulled out an office chair and gestured for you to take a seat.
Taking a deep breath, you went and sat down, putting on the headset.
"Connecting to CAINE, download at ten percent."
Maybe I'll end up somewhere completely different.
"Twenty-five percent."
What happens if something goes wrong? Who were those people with the blurry screens?
"Thirty-seven percent."
I hope there isn't anything too extreme.
"Fifty-four percent."
Who made CAINE anyway?
"One hundred percent."
That was the last thing you heard before everything went black.

Hey! I'm sorry if this has been asked and I might be wrong but for Wolfwater (Which looks really interesting) and I was wondering.. Why are the ROs so... skewed? Like, I'm a lesbian for example, if I want to only romance women I have 3 options of the 13. But if I straight I would have 5. On the flip side a gay man has access to 4 if we don't include the NBs, with Straight men getting 3 as well... I was just wondering your reasoning for this? No judgement, just curious. (is math even right??)
There are actually 5 just wlw options:
F/NB!Drew
Gliss
Seline
Bethany
Kel(who is genderfluid but AFAB)
-
And 5 options for straight men as well:
Lux
F/NB!Drew
Gliss
Seline
Kel
-
Kel is actually unique in the sense that the type of demon they are means that they can be whatever sex and whatever appearance they want. So if you want an AMAB Kel, they can do that, but naturally they are AFAB.
Otherwise the original 12 were broken down by gender:
4 women
4 men
4 enbys
Then I knew I wanted 2 straight characters and 2 gay characters, because I don't like when all the ROs are basically "MCsexual"
Bayle and Lux turned out to be straight
Bethany and Ezra turned out to be gay
I also knew I wanted at least one poly option, which was originally just Ezra and Aim, but then as I continued developing the characters Lukas and Mewse became a couple and Lukas became both an aromantic option and they became a poly.
So it was never something I directly tried to influence. It just kinda happened as the characters developed. When I start writing a character they always start out as a nonbinary pansexual, then as I develop them more I just kinda go with what the character decides. It's really hard to explain my autistic process 😔
I wanted to make sure no one felt like they were getting the short end of the stick. I've played a lot of IFs where there's only one female RO or where gay men seem to be accounted for by lesbians are forgotten. So I wanted it to feel fair without it feeling completely unnatural.
