This week’s entry is based on the Colombian legend of ‘El Hombre Caiman’, from the Caribbean coast. There’s a cool statue of him!
See below the cut for further details about poor Bruno here :(
In the original tale, the man used potions to turn back and forth between an alligator and a man so that he could spy on women as they bathed >:(... and then got stuck when a friend spilled the potion that changed him back. But he still has a human face!
Here, someone got fed-up with Bruno and his prophecies, and cursed him into this form, using the two prophecy shards impaling him as the conduit for the curse. :( they also represent julieta & pepa, and the wounds aren’t healing :(
The emerald of his prophecies is slowly growing, and one day it will cover/consume him completely.
His powers are now the reverse of normal - instead of seeing normally, and having a vision one in a while, he’s now constantly having visions, and can only see normally if he ritualistically concentrates
the alligator isn’t a separate being - it’s all bruno baybeeeee
his human body can’t hold itself up very well, so most of the time he’s a bit floppy. this was illustrated but it didn’t fit very well lol
“why isn’t bruno wearing any clothes??? D:” 1. the main inspiration was having something fucked-up in a mouth, like that parasite that replaces a fish’s tongue, or the alien’s.... mouth... thing.... and 2. i wanted him to have the visual imagery of a tongue, but mainly 3. i didn’t think about clothes and forgot about them until it was too late oops
zero respect when people get all "oh nooooo i sure hope this post doesn't get a zillion noootes teehee, stop reblogging I can't have this be what people remember me for 🥺🤭" all coy and shit when the option to disable reblogs is right there. strangle that post in its crib to prove you're not a poser.
an ex-zionist jewish man recently went a bit viral on tiktok for sharing exactly how he sees zionism tie israel to the jewish identity and his personal experience with breaking away from it - I think it’s a really great watch.
He also made a follow up talking specifically about how he learned to humanise Palestinians, and a really integral part of it was his school, which would often bring in Palestinian speakers who’d share their perspective (here’s a link to it).
"I'll show you every day that choosing to live was worth it"
some of my favourite scenes from @hijinks-n-lowjinks' fic things i would miss from the other side . this fic tore my heart out fr but like in a good way and i wanted to pay it homage the only way i know how <3
