I've been hooked on nomads recently so of course I just HAD to draw something

I know the series is pretty angsty right now, so here ya go!

the quartet (I don't know what comes after trio💀) riding on one of the turtles in the sea kingdom

I was admitedly very lazy with the outfit design and honestly I'm not even gonna try and hide the fact that that turtle was 100% traced💀

I wasn't in the mood to do ANOTHER study, which uh... probably explains a lot

Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

I can't get enough of crossovers, y'all!!! I just found it interesting that Verdant Wind!Claude von Riegan and Spawn!Astarion are similar in some aspects ie. initially being manipulative for their survival, but (in my opinion) end up as the best version of themselves when loved and supported by their respective games' player characters. Just had to draw the summary of their journey :3c

Allow me to let y'all know how embarassed I am. I planned to post the entire thing i.n one go when it was done—but I had never made anything comic like save for the Azula-Zuko thing and I didn't realise how hard it was going to be.

So... I fucked up my back over this the past weekend—(then went to a botanical garden wearing heels because I didn't have any other option and now my feet are wrecked too—honestly, why are heels even a thing. First and last time I'd wear them I swear. I'd rather walk barefoot)—and this has triggered a sort of... art burnout for me, eh?

So I thought I'll just go ahead and post it. I initially thought it'd be six pages—boy did I underestimate it!

And don't worry, I'll complete it.

I've already poured so much sweat and blood into it—the only way to go is to complete it now. Plus, I already have several uncoloured pages, yknow, lineart and all done. (Let's pretend I don't go from sketch to colour and actually skip the lineart).

It'd take a while though.

So...uh...to be continued?

P.S.: because I'm evil: [rubs hands excitedly] we'd wait together until it's finished.

anyways, whoo! 2023! compared to both 2022 and 2021, i gotta say, my art style took a hard swerve in some direction this year. i mean, look at that klavier from january and that butch kim from just this december! (granted, i heavily referenced the portrait of butch kim but still, i didn't use to paint! mama mia!)

drawing this one was so time-consuming and ambitious but boy, do i love the end result! i had fun doing the inks for this one but was it a lot! i usually color in lineart and render everything but i had to stop myself from doing it for this one bc man, i'll die asksks

this also has some of my favorite apollos i've drawn, definitely

also! the part about the lineart not being colored and no rendering ended up being a deliberate stylistic choice for this one bc i had like more freedom to do just shadows with inks without it looking too out of place.

A small fic where gn!reader is obsessed over Hobie's body ajjskekwoe

I literally have no motivation to make any of my ideas to a full fic, so have this small fic looking thing instead!

The AC was running through, the benches and locker ice cold. But you still felt like you were burning after your work out in the gym.

Hobie and you were now dressing up in your normal clothes next to each other. To be honest, y'all had a flirty friendship, nothing more. Most of the time it felt so romantic, but then reality hit about how Hobie is flirty with everyone.

You couldn't be bothered any time more, as you took off your shorts and switched to a pair of grey joggers and grabbed the black shirt with a small pink cat lineart on the right side of your chest. It was cute.

You looked over to Hobie, to see how he is doing and if he is fully dressed yet. The view was a sudden shock for you, you weren't complaining though.

He was in his boxer briefs. They were red with a black band. His skinny, kinda muscular legs showed, and when you looked up, you saw his, yet again skinny, but muscular and well-defined back. The lines were perfect, the muscles were showing so clearly, and it had no veins. His skin was smooth but had some small scars on them. His yet so skinny but well-formed arms added everything! God, the sweat was dropping down his back, forehead, and overall his body.

Which made it even hotter.

Wait, what the fuck?

Hot? Really bro.. This couldn't get anymore weirder. Flashing news, you are crushing on your fucking best friend. But to be honest, with that well trained back, everyone would fall for him.

Or would they?

"Caught ya' attention, didn't I?" Hobie straddled you out of your thoughts, with a followed low chuckle. He wasn't focused on you, but on his bag. Probably trying to find his crust punk pants.

Your ears went complete red and you looked away from him, focused to put, or should I say stuff, all your gym clothes into your bag. The inside of the locker had a mirror, so when you looked into it, you saw your cheeks being a slight pink. You slapped yourself to get some sense into you.

Dammit, why right the fuck now Mx. Brain?

"Uh, Y/N are you ok there?" a different voice spoke behind you. It was Gwen behind you, seeming seriously concerned.

"Uh, yeah, sorry for the noise", she nodded and focused on her business again. You exhaled slowly as you threw your bag over your shoulder and closed the locker, only to see hobie leaning onto a different one. Already fully dressed and ready to lead you home.

"Ready?"

"Yeah, let's go", you mumbled as you both head to the exit door of the gym.

Damn, you seriously need to confess soon or now.

Something happened since last time the two of them met, so LBMo is reasonably surprised to see Little Baby Man Mer's new form... or is this just an alternative dimension iteration of LBM (by @tourettesdog)? 🤔

Since I'm a serial procrastinator and I wanted to be sure the art pieces were at least decent/accurate, I was almost late (but thank CW that I did, because some of them had the wrong orca-pattern and I would have brought disgrace upon myself if I published anything not done right since orcas are one of my favorite animals).

My poor Mer-boy got yoinked temporalily into the past when he was still Danny (so even before the "normal" LBM-fication) and he's feeling reeeaaally distressed at the act of practically cannibalism that his past-self is committing...

Day 2+4+29: Wish/Starfish + Wander/Night + Fireworks/Bioluminescence

Wandering in the night, some interesting encounters are bound to happen...

Day 19+20: Iron/Pearl + Pitch AU/Abyss

LBMer found a his rightful Crown (of Fire) sunk into the depths of the ocean!

But since it was rusty and forgotten, what better way to restore it than ghostly mother pearl?

(Works like ghostly ice, but it's an exclusive power of LBMer.)

(The Crown got bigger than canon, but he smol!)

Day 26: Shoes/Camouflage

They say that imitation is one of the best form of flattery, but when you don't want to get caught by a certain dimensional hopper (and be mistaken for one of his foes), it's the best way to blend in!

(Octopi can camouflage in ways that make you think that magic is real...)

(Little Baby Terror unfortunately got caught in the same "accident" that LBM did, so they generally prefer to stick together-ish in case they need help.)

Day 16+22: Glowing Veins/Courtship + Song Lyrics/Songs

I couldn't help myself and sneaked in some Everlasting Trio for the soul.

After all, LBM (and therefore LBMer) is still Danny, even if he has new form(s) and instincts.

They do incarnate the "Would you still love me if I was a worm?", don't they?

(It feels such a Danny song to use, plus I checked how orcas court and while there's some posturing, they also sing! It felt only natural from there... >:3c)

Day 11: Mutation/Shell(s)

And finally: the answer!

LBM found this weird shell on the beach while they were on vacation, but when he checked it (read: nibbed it), it reacted and tooted a magical cloud that mutated our Little Baby Man into a Mer!

(The same fate happened to Dani/Little Baby Menace and Dan/Little Baby Terror, changing them into a Seahorse Mer and Octopus Mer respectively.

I've got a lineart done of them for another prompt, but I didn't manage in time to clean and color it yet, along with a couple of others... ( ≧Д≦) )

This has two versions because I couldn't decide which was better. @teacupsandstarlight suggested the first because of the transforming smoke around our boi, but since I saved both, I told myself: why not upload both?

For now, that's all! (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧

I still have some linearts to finish/digitalize/color, but at least I contributed to these two fantastic events, hope y'all enjoyed them and my works!

I thought I'd show you a bit of my thought process when I'm doing an illustration.

For drawings that are a bit more cartoon-ish, the very first I do is gather a TON of references of everything I think I might need. I'm not very good at drawing from memory, so having a reference at hand is very useful.

Then, I sketch a raw version of positions and such, and I like to color code the characters and the things that are IN FRONT, or BEHIND the characters, that way I can visualize the picture better and it really helps when you move on to the final lineart. It takes me a really long time to reach that stage tho', because I like to take my sweet ass time making sure the proportions are right and nothing is looking funky (there's always mistakes of course, but I think it's best to spot said problems BEFORE the final rendering. It saves a lot of time). Remember to flip the canvas every once in a while and look at your drawing from different distances!!

Once I think the sketch is fine, I like to put a solid color beneath the lines, that way I can tell if the pose makes sense and if it looks pretty. It's not really necessary but it also helps me understand my scene better and to do a mental list of the elements I'll need once I move on with the coloring.

I avoid sketching and inking on the same day, that way I can revisit my work later with a fresh eye, but that is up to you.

The coloring is an entirely different beast, so I'll save it for another post if it's of any interest for y'all. If there's any mistakes in my redaction please do not correct me, this is my second language and I have no respect for it whatsoever.

Remember to always warm up and stretch your wrists before drawing and to TAKE BREAKS every once in a while. This is important because 1) eyes ouchie, 2) the more you stare at a single piece, the more likely you are to over correct things, which is a waste of time and energy.

Sonic the Tarot Update #1

Hey y'all, long time no see!

Sorry for our silence! Our mod, TheCrystalRing, recently completed their last term at university, which was a major hindrance to Sonic the Tarot's production. But the drawing process has resumed, and we have some other updates to go over!

First, here are the lines of some Major Arcana cards! These are the Fool (Big the Cat + Froggy), Empress (Maria Robotnik), Hierophant (Espio the Chameleon), and Sun cards (Charmy Bee):

Certain effects, such as the water of Big's lake and Espio's invisibility, will not be present until rendering. To complement Sonic the Tarot's thick cartoony lineart, we plan to render similar to vintage American comics, such as with halftones and paper textures.

In terms of schedule, it is still nebulous since TheCrystalRing is the only artist. However, if we are accepted into the artist alley of Sonic Expo, Sonic the Tarot will definitely be available by November.

Finally, we'd like to address Amy Rose's Fortune Card Deck. Sonic the Tarot had been planned since before that announcement, and our production will continue. We believe our project can offer different elements than the official release, such as aesthetics and card assignments.

In conclusion for this update, thank you very much for your patience, and we hope to show more card previews soon!

Some Four love after the poll got them no votes at all LOL. May yet clean it up a bit more, but for now I wanted to share. Design for my own AU.

There's a reason for their variation in looks and all, which I'll put under the cut. It's not super vital to my AU because Four themself has no fucking clue why its doing that, but if you're curious about the reasoning go for it.

Yes, go ahead, make all the grey-ace jokes you want about Shadow, it's not why he's in grey but its true.

If y'all looked at his bio, you'd notice I stated he's intersex via genetic mosaicism. Well, if you look at the pics above that comes out in some designs. Obviously Four has no idea why the split had the effects it did, but their weird genetics get scrambled by the splitting and results in varying expression of albinism, gender and -- as will come up in another fic soon -- their epilepsy.

They all still mainly use he/him, and only sometimes they. In terms of Word of God with this AU, I'm not going to be more specific on them being multiple because its a complex condition that probably was heavily influenced by the situation with the Four Sword when they were only fourteen. This, too, is something Four honestly isn't fully sure of themself: did the sword do this, or was he always like that?

I'll leave it up to y'all to fill in the blanks, because -- on top of all of the above -- Four will not give a straight answer unless it's absolutely necessary. So enjoy?

it was really fun to get to draw classic hq after all this time - cool to see how he looks now in my style after like, a bajillion years. (fr tho at least 5 lol)

anger!! i like how his cape kinda looks like fire, its very dramatic. his nose also immediately starts bleeding, as part of his sort of regression into his past state....

lq being like 'oh jesus christ i thought we were done with nosebleeds', jokes on you asshole its always nosebleed oclock in lq land

this was going to be for a small aside of 'ok y'all don't be fuckin weird about this' to the audience as hes about to do a forehead press, but ultimately i figured they're kinda in their own world rn and idk how much lq remembers the audience is there

and then, of course:

i.... no joke, really really like how this one came out. drawing LQs profile has always been exceedingly difficult for me (there are some, uhm, faces out there on his blog that are.... bad lol. wack) but i feel like it finally clicked for me a bit? shrug

also i like how this is very much a visual metaphor for LQ where he was before, and now LQ where they are presently. also i like their little speech at the end, and at last the reveal of what tf lq was doing in the field.
