imagine dragon hybrid reader keeping all their removed scales in a box hidden on their person, cause, if the village sees any scales lying around, they'll freak, and obviously find reader out.
what do you think the adult yans would do if they found the box and reader.

Oh, the adults would be furious. Who DARED take the scales of their poor hatchling?! Who would make them feel ashamed of themself?! They'll set fire to their village because of this! They'll steal their sheep! They'll eat all of their fish! (They might not do all of that, but some of them are thinking about it-)
The platonic yans would feel upset, startled, and possibly nauseous over the fact Reader removed their own scales so no one would find out their secret. This only proves to them Reader needs them, needs to be in their flock, instead of among humans who would kill them for being a hybrid. They're hiding the box once they have it, either burying it somewhere or putting it in a special place where they store their hatchlings' shed scales and teeth and claws. After this, they're making sure Reader stops picking out their scales, instead they make sure to oil them and buff them, so they'll be strong and sturdy...
And Reader can only accept this new treatment, as they're too scared to argue over it, and they like that they don't have to rip their scales off every few weeks anymore...

Blood of the Dragon AU Reader could possibly be a stolen hatchling/baby/egg of one or more of the platonic yanderes...
Let's look at it this way:
Reader had to come from somewhere. They likely came from a hybrid/hybrid pair, or a human/hybrid pair. Reader would have either been an egg or a baby, likely stolen from a nest or who ended up in the hands of a Viking... The parent or parents would have been upset, tearing apart their nest and island and the entire area, hunting down any humans and sniffing out any clues to where their missing child went. Yet nothing comes up. The trail goes cold once it reaches the sea, and no matter how far they search or the islands they visit, there is no sign of Reader...
Reader ends up raised by a Viking who hid their traits, possibly the only one who showed Reader any bit of kindness. Yet they pass away, in a raid or due to an illness or an accident at sea, and it leaves Reader on their own, to be raised by the village. Reader grows up lonely, desperate to have any friends and always feeling like they're missing something. It doesn't matter what they do, or what they make, or any ideas they have, because no one gives them the time of day, no one listens to them or accepts them.
Reader kept their scales and wings and tails hidden, removing any wayward scales and filing down their claws. While their teeth are sharp, and more fang-like, they try not to talk too much, lest someone look closer and discover their secret. Reader isn't sure what hybrid they are, or of any dragon customs or gods or rituals. They love dragons, yet their village hates them, further ostracizing Reader from them.
When Reader finally thinks to shoot down a hybrid, they think they might finally fit in, or be accepted... Then their conscience kicks in, and Reader decides to leave them be at the last minute... Only for someone to bump into them, sending the crossbolt flying, hitting a hybrid and causing then to crash in the woods. Reader decides to go out there, and instead of killing the teen, removes the crossbolt and bandages their wound...
This leads to the teen hybrid seeing Reader's wings, realizing Reader is like them, and deciding this is their new friend/sibling. Grabbing Reader, they fly off, going back to the home of the hybrids...
