He hasn't said anything outright insulting or upsetting, but he treats reader so differently, like he's silently blaming reader for his own temper and mood. He doesn't even call them by their nickname/petname anymore, everything feels so distant now.

So in an attempt to yk, NOT give up on their relationship, reader decides to confront chuuya about this in a calm manner, but he blindly lashes out and reader is NOT having ANY of it… cue a petty back and forth between him and reader, and reader gets out of the house to cool off and meanwhile chuuya finally comes to his senses. He tries to reason with reader when they come back, but they end up doing exactly what chuuya did to them, dismissing him and not accepting any form of half-assed apology. and so,,,,,, chuuya tries to make it up to reader,,,, if ikwym :3c

Summary. Recently, Chuuya has been kinda distant lately, mostly due to his work. This also resulted into you mostly overthinking— what if he isn't at the office all the time just like says? With this thought at the back of your mind, you tried to make an effort to be nice and caring as possible, only for Chuuya to decline the food you make him, denying any help you offer and barely spending time, which made the thoughts even more scary. When you can't take it anymore, you snap, at first he didn't get what your problem was until he thought about your earlier attempts. Now driven with guilt, Chuuya wants to assure you're the most important thing to him and makes up for his actions in the process.

Some while later, Chuuya came to see you for a few minutes before returning to work. He tired hugging you but you rejected it. Confused, he looks at you before asking. "What's wrong, doll?", did he seriously just ask you that? After pushing away for the— what? The millionth time for his work? At this innocent question you snapped, well, not really but you were beyond pissed.

When Chuuya told you that he was probably busy for the next days, you understood, at first. Knowing Chuuya, he could make some time for you in between, right? He was your really loyal, sweet and loving boyfriend, caring was he too, of course Chuuya should be able to make atleast a little time. And to his credit, he did, at first. He took breaks in which he spent time with you, cooking your food with you, and also other activities you guys normally do. But with time, Chuuya got more and more work and spent less and less time with you. You also understood at first, and trying to be a good girlfriend, you tried to take some work off his back by doing some paperwork with him, only to deny you. Don't get Chuuya wrong, he appreciated it, but he'd rather do it himself. You understood, leaving him be, but then he started to work late, staying behind in the office. That's when you started to overthink a little. You really didn't want to let you thoughts get to you, Chuuya is loyal and so loving he would never, right? Why was he even staying so late in the first place? Was it because you constantly asked him to help to the point he wanted to work in the office at work? These thoughts would slowly consume you later on, and instead of speaking with Chuuya about it, you kept it to yourself, you didn't want to annoy him anyways. It's been 3 days later and he didn't even say a single word to you, just work, work, work. Were you even Chuuya's top priority at this point? You just let him distance himself, in hope of him noticing your presence. All this did was make the situation worse, to the point where you cried yourself to sleep at night feeling unwanted. Did Chuuya finally notice? No, his head is still drowned in paperwork. "Chuuya, do you have time right now?" — "No. Go do something else, doll, I still have work left." His tone had some harshness to it, a hint of annoyance too. But maybe it was because of the stress because of work. "I could help him maybe.", you told yourself, you don't want him to overwork himself, has he even eaten today? "Well, maybe I could help with the paper—" — "You can't, so please go. I still have a lot left." — "But I could—" — "Just go, I'm busy. I can't really talk with you 'cause you're gonna distract me." What a reason, but you can't let him push you away now, can you? "Chuuya, please, I just wanna help you—" — "Just leave me the hell alone and do something else. Look, I love you for trying, I don't need your help the only this you're doing right now is distracting me." "If you say so." Was all you said before leaving his home office without saying another word.

That was the last time you talked to him during these days, but today, was the day you finally snapped at him for pushing you away all these days. And for what did he push you away? For trying to be nice and take some shit off his back? "What's wrong?! What's wrong is that you pushed me away for— what? A week and a half?!", you explained with anger behind your voice, which Chuuya wasn't familiar with. "Doll, I didn't push you away—", before he could speak you went on. "Stop with the bullshit. Whenever I tried helping with anything you always denied me! You changed into Chuuya's shirt just like you have been these last several days for some missing closure, not forgetting your shorts before you sat on the bed to be on your phone. Not even five minutes later, the door creaked open, revealing Chuuya with a guilt driven face. "What?, you asked him once again. "Can we talk, please?", you just stared at him before nodding. He sat down on the bed, patting the space next to him, you moved to the edge of the bed to sit down next to him.

He's not exactly welcoming at first, straight up telling you of the atrocities he has committed while claiming that the only reason he hasn't destroyed you is because there's only so long that throwing a slug against a wall can keep one entertained.

He cannot fathom how you could be content to do nothing but drive around his complex day after day. He will flip you on your back like a turtle and leave you there for weeks on end.

As he gets accustomed to your presence he'll ask questions about the world beyond his complex as he is unable to move or see. Is it still a wasteland or has nature finally wiped out the last marks of human?

Honestly he probably doesn't even care, he just wants to give you something to do, living vicariously through your ability to see and traverse the world.

Hal 9000

You're likely a recent addition to the ship to assist Hal in tasks his lack of a body would prevent him from doing himself. A very symbiotic duo. Your wheels are even equipped with suction cups for low gravity situations!

To any human crew members it appears as if you don't communicate at all, functioning fully independently of each other. When in reality you're simply sending messages back and forth, enjoying your own private language.

Thankfully this means that Hal is happy to analyze any footage you have for the sorts of lip reading and facial expressions you can't process yourself. And in return he'll ask you to film angles and areas that his existing cameras don't reach.

Neither of you were really made to be companions, but you find a strange type of affection in your seamless coordination. It's like a dance for you two, where despite how you are two separate entities it appears as if you're one working in tandem.

I am happy to give Nino some love, but before we do, we need to talk about how badly canon has failed him. The reason we need to have that talk is that the love I'm going to give is far more headcanon-y than I usually go in these analysis posts. For most characters, I can give a strong canon-based argument for a core characterization. For Nino? Well, I am pulling this stuff from canon, but I wouldn't exactly label it a "strong" argument. There are even elements of my take on Nino that you could label "grasping at straws".

And I'm happy to own that! I delight in giving Nino all the love he deserves even if it doesn't perfectly match canon, but that means that my Nino is less me leaning into the best parts of canon and more me shifting through canon, grabbing a few shinny bits, and weaving them into something that you may not agree with because my vision for Nino is to elevate him to match Alya in terms of narrative importance because I want the team show season two promised me even if I have to make it myself!

And if you don't want that? Then that's fine! I'm not arguing that everyone should adopt this take. My version of Nino is about as close to an OC as I get when writing fanfic. So let's get into it and talk about why I had to do that. (Also note that I have nothing against OCs. It's just that, when it comes to my own writing, I try to reserve them for original fiction or for very minor roles that no canon character could fill. Totally a matter of personal preference and not some sort of judgement.)

The Many Ways that Canon has Done Nino Dirty

If we look at what is arguably the main group of friends - Alya, Marinette, Adrien, and Nino - then we can see a clear base concept for the first three. Alya is the plucky reporter. Marinette is the headstrong leader. Adrien is the sweet goofball. Nino is... Alya's boyfriend? Adrien's best friend? Chris' older brother?

This is the problem that I was referring to above. Alya, Adrien, and Marinette have clear roles that you could pick out by just watching Origins. Nino doesn't. He doesn't even speak in part one and part two gives him all of six lines. These lines establish him as a nice guy since they're all about him being kind to Adrien, but that's about it. Here's one of them as an example:

Miss Bustier: Agreste, Adrien? Nino: (quietly to Adrien) You say "present". Adrien: (jumps up with his hand raised) Uh, present!

This is a cute moment for sure, but when I look at it, I can't tell you who Nino is supposed to be other than a nice guy, which isn't much to go on. Nice guys can fit a lot of roles.

This isn't necessarily a flaw. Some characters have roles that are immediately obvious and some characters don't. This second class of character usually just has a more complex role that will be discovered and defined based on their actions as the story goes on. However, because Miraculous' writing is all over the place, Nino gets screwed. Instead of his actions defining his nebulous role, his actions make his role impossible to pin down! Here are a few examples:

Nino the Protector:

Season two was big on the idea that miraculous had to be suited to their holders. That's why Chloe kept getting the bee as we saw in Malediktator:

Marinette: I must choose someone who's not impressed by people in power. Who can help me trap Malediktator. Huh?! Of course! That's it. (reaches for the Miraculous of the Bee)

And why did Nino get the turtle in Anansi?

Marinette: I need a protective Miraculous. (gasps, and points at the Turtle Miraculous Master Fu is wearing) That's the one I need, Master! (Master Fu gasps) Uh, if it's okay with you. Master Fu: (smiles at Wayzz, who nods to him) Do you have someone in mind, Marinette?  Marinette: Actually, I think I found just the right person.

Okay, cool, we finally have a strong defining trait for Nino! He's a protector! Or, at least, he was here. Other episodes go directly against this role such as this nonsense from Illusion:

Nino: What's up is Ladybug and Cat Noir don't have us to help them anymore. Alya: (nervously) Um, um— uh— what do you mean, "us"? Nino: Well, us, you Rena Rouge, me Carapace! (Alya kicks his leg underneath the table) Ouch! What's the big deal? We can tell Marinette and Adrien we used to be superheroes.

This first issue with this episode is that we see Nino out his and Alya's secret identities without her permission even though the resistance did NOT require an identity reveal to be a thing. In other words, our supposed protector is taking a big risk for no reason. Then he goes and does this:

Nino: Hence my plan. We're gonna film an akumatization. Alya: And how are you, Comrade Ketchup, gonna be in the know when and where this akumatization takes place? Nino: Easy, Comrade Beurre Maître d'Hôtel. I'm gonna make it happen.

Which leads to the four friends antagonizing Gabriel even though Nino knows how complex Adrien and Gabriel's relationship is. A move that makes no sense for a supposed protector because Gabriel was far from their only option. Nino could have picked anyone, but he went with the riskiest candidate possible, exposing his best friend to a potentially massive backlash.

Nino also doesn't even try to contact Ladybug and Chat Noir prior to this insane plan, thereby putting the whole city at unnecessary risk! What kind of protector purposely causes an akuma without also coming up with mitigation strategies to minimize the resulting damage?

Everything Nino does in this episode should disqualify him from ever holding the turtle again or, at the very least, he should have to redeem himself before holding the turtle again. This is especially true since he never apologizes for anything he did in Illusion and this is just one example of the issue. It's actually kind of hard to find moments where Nino acts as a protector even though he holds the miraculous of Protection. So is he supposed to be a protector? Who knows!

Nino, The Empath:

That first example was long, so we'll pick two quicker ones to flesh this out. The first one is how Nino and Adrien's relationship is defined. In Origins and the New York Special Nino is written as a kind and sensitive guy who is acting as Adrien's guide to dating and other elements of the real world:

Nino: Yup. I love Adrien, but he's like a baby chick that's just started cracking out of his egg. He has a hard time understanding the signals people send him. Alya: What signals? Marinette isn't exactly sending them clearly. I mean, look! What is she doing with her arms? Telling him what to do in case of an emergency landing or something? Nino:(sighs) If only this trip could help Adrien finally come out of his shell.

But then you have episodes like Animan where Adrien is Nino's guide to dating:

Nino: Shhh! You know I'm no good with the ladies, especially this one all of a sudden. I mean, dude, do I go up to her and crack her a joke? Shoot her a compliment? Invite her to the zoo? Play it serious? Adrien: Nino, you're way over-thinking this. "Invite her to the zoo", you serious? Nino: Well, they have this really cool new exhibit there. Adrien: Listen, just be yourself, man.

And episodes like Illusion (discussed above) and Psycomedian (see below) where Adrien is deeply uncomfortable and Nino doesn't notice:

Nino: See, dude? I told you! Hilarious, right? Adrien: Uh... (laughs nervously) Right! Really funny, Nino. Nino: I gotta show you his other sketches. It's insane that you don't know Harry Clown! (laughs)

Which might work if these episodes were about Nino learning a lesson, but they're not. Nino learns nothing, so is he generally in tune with others or is he kind of oblivious to other peoples' feelings? And why did Nino ever think that Adrien was a good source of romantic advice if he also thinks that Adrien is "a baby chick"? Pick a lane people!

Nino's Hobbies

Our final source of confusion is trying to define what Nino even enjoys doing. Horrificator and Queen Banana have him playing around as an amature film maker, but we also see him acting as an amature DJ with the wiki even claiming that he's the head of the school's radio station. So which of these things is his passion? Movies or music?

To be clear, I think it's fine to have multiple passions, but this is a story. You want to keep your characters' non-story-relevant hobbies kind of simple, especially when the character in question is a relatively minor side character who rarely gets much screen time. It's why Alix is only really into roller skating and why Nathaniel is only really into art. You don't want them to be more complex than that.

Even the main characters get this "keep it simple" treatment with Marinette only really being into fashion and Alya only really being into her blog. The girls don't need two demanding passions that would eat up all of their free time, but that's what Nino gets! Film and music are both incredibly demanding passions and it's hard to balance a character who is into both who is also an active superhero. That's a lot for one dude to do well!

I've actually seen fics that cast Nino as wanting to be a director and fics that make him want to be a professional DJ because canon really isn't clear about this pretty basic aspect of his character, but you do need to pick a lane when writing anything that gives Nino a career and so people seem to pick a passion at random.

My Version of Nino

By now, we're hopefully in agreement that canon has made a mess of Nino's character to the point where it's near impossible to say "this is who Nino is supposed to be." However, if you want to write Nino, then you do kind of have to pick a characterization to go with, so here's what I've come up with. Feel free to embrace it or reject it, but know that you will pry my version of Nino out of my cold dead hands because I utterly adore him.

Since Nino is Carapace, I base everything about him around the concept of "protect and defend" because he needs to feel like he deserves his heroic alter ego. I do not want to make canon's mistake of giving him a miraculous that massively contradicts his writing. Especially when that writing makes him feel interchangeable with other characters. At this point, no one from canon screams "turtle miraculous" unless you want to give it to Adrien since he's Ladybug's defender.

I also designed Nino around Alya and Adrien as those will arguably be his most important relationships. He should feel like a perfect fit for boyfriend and best friend respectively. I also took Marinette into consideration because he's going to be part of her team/friend group, so he should work with her, too.

What all that means is that I basically said "okay, this is where Nino is supposed to fit in the story and this is the dumpster fire that canon gave us, how do I pull pieces from the fire and paste them together to make a character that fits who Nino should have been?"

To really get into my version of Nino, I'd almost have to give you a fic to read, but that's way too much for a Tumblr post, so let's keep this high-level and just look at some of my notes on Nino from my lore Bible:

Nino is a major audiophile. He loves listening to music and watching movies/TV shows to study how they play with sound. He wants to be an audio engineer when he's older, but he also has a general passion for all things music and film. He’ll listen to any genre and watch almost any movie or show. He loves to take charge of the music at events so that the music really fits the crowd (and so it sounds good). It isn’t unheard of for him to go see an unknown band or an odd indie film on his own. This will become a major bonding point for Nino and Adrien because of the influence of Adrien's mother. Nino has seen all of Emilie's films and loves them. It will also bond him and Alya as his knowledge of film making will allow him to help her learn the art of filming now that she's doing complex things like actions shots and editing together multiple recordings.

Nino is generally pretty laid back and likes to hear people out. His reaction to confrontation is to try to calm everyone down so that they can get to the heart of the issue. He wants everyone to get along, but he's also not going to let someone take the blame when they shouldn't. Nino protects the innocent.

Nino is incredibly protective of the people he loves. If someone he cares about is in danger, his peaceful nature goes straight out the window. He’s the kind of person who would happily take a bullet for his friends and family. This will lead to him following Alya around once the hero stuff starts because he wants to keep her safe. Never let Alya go out alone if Nino is around or even just aware that a fight is happening. Alya thinks "scoop" and Nino thinks "my Alya sense is tingling." He's NOT there to stop her from doing what she loves, he's just there to be her spotter who lets her focus on filming while he watches for danger, though that will initially be a struggle for him. Treat this as his audition/training for Carapace where he learns to balance protective instincts with getting the job done so that he's ready to perfectly take on his miraculous.

When Nino’s folks split up, his mother insisted that the kids should go to therapy to help process things. They had individual and family counseling. Nino was actually pretty cool with the divorce as he’d seen it coming, but his brother was really affected by it, so Nino spent his time working on ways to help Chris (and being told that he was a brother, not a parent, but he still wanted to help). He learned a lot from going through it and it’s why he’s so good at dealing with emotional issues. He’s also good at not taking those burdens on himself. He wants to help, but knows that it's your battle. Marinette often looks to Nino for guidance on emotional issues because she knows that she's terrible at navigating them. She has given him full permission to stop her when she's too focused on solutions over support. All of the friends will help Adrien figure out social situations, but Nino will be the main guide as he's the one with the strongest skills in that area. Plus Adrien makes Nino's protective big brother instincts go crazy.

Nino’s a bit of a loner by choice. He has "weird" hobbies that easily lend themselves to being done alone and he doesn't have any interest in "forcing" his hobbies on someone who doesn't actually enjoy them, so he spends a lot of time by himself and rarely invites others to share in his interests. He only does that when he thinks that they'll actually enjoy what he's sharing. He doesn’t mind this, but he’s also a very welcoming individual who doesn’t like to see people left out, so he’ll come out of his shell when he sees someone who needs a friend. This usually leads to him making friends who soon become closer with others, but still view him as a casual friend. He’s cool with that. He's just happy that they found their people. Adrien will be the first friend who really stays Nino’s due to an understanding of Nino’s “weird” hobbies. After all, Adrien’s the son of an actress. He’s used to weird indie films and discussions of cinematography. I'd even say that he revels in it and realizes that he has missed it desperately since his mom got too sick to do that kind of thing. Basically, Nino will fill a spot in Adrien's heart that Adrien didn't even know was empty. Adrien can listen to Nino talk about cinematography for hours and never get bored. Before Adrien, no one knew that Nino was this talkative!

Hey there, I wondered if Tears ever gets insecure about his arm, scars or possibly even his height. Like I find his height absolutely perfect and adorable but he is smaller than most other people and it might bother him?

So I've been wondering how he acts when insecure and what would be a good way to comfort him. I would just hold him and try to convince him of all the good qualities he has. As well as petting through his hair. Making him feel loved and secure. And honestly an extraordinary arm isn't that bad, it doesn't affect who he is after all.

I wonder if that would help or he'd need some other form of comfort. Or maybe to be left alone. Anything from an answer to hc's to a short story or even deletion is fine! If you even have time and are willing that is!

✦ This is the easiest of his insecurities to deal with, as it only really tends to show itself when his phantom pains act up. 

✦ he’s long used to having lost his arm by the point that you meet, having had to figure out a replacement for when Rauru’s arm faded after his second quest was over.

✦ despite that though he still isn’t used to the ricocheting pain he gets once every so often, less now than when he was first still drowned in gloom but still just as debilitating. 

✦ He just needs to taken away from other people and shown affection, reassured that his is a benefit rather than something people only pity him for. 

✦ it’s all he really needs in those moments of vulnerability, when he can feel the flesh being shredded from his none existent bone. 

“Wouldn't it be better if there was some way to just have my arm go back to how it should be? That way I wouldn’t be such a burden when he decides to haunt me again.” “Sherbert whatever do you mean? You aren’t a burden for this, why even consider it?” “The whole group has had to come to a stop just because of this stupid pain and I know you’ve seen time getting pissed off with me for the things I can do with it.” “Time’s just an old man who’s worried about your safety, he means no harm with it. Wars got the rest to come to a stop for the same reason, not because you’re a burden, but because we care for you.” “But If my arm wasn’-” “Your arm is part of who you are. ✦ another way to help him through these patches is more to do with also indulging his love for learning about your home, or well more to the point - stickers. Giving him ones with meaning and that he thinks are pretty help him to work his confidence back. Because it wouldn't be possible without his arm!

✦ This comes out even rarer than his doubts about his arm, and only due to a very specific scenario and that’s if you’re talking about Earth's beauty standards - how taller people are often seen as more attractive.

✦ If you aren’t quick to say otherwise he’s going to assume that’s what you think too, it’s going to do a real number on his self esteem - because the thing is, he never really cares about what other people think about him, it simply doesn’t even register as something he should be worried about before he met you outside of the memory issue but that’s a whole other thing 

✦ this is the first time that something that REALLY has never been an issue for him becomes a big problem, if you aren’t aware of why he’s feeling like this then the sudden shift will come as a surprise. As he starts to avoid you and tear up whenever you see him before leaving. The rest of the chain mention that they’ve seen him tinkering with things but no one has seen exactly what it is.  

✦ the reason it came up was possibly from another member of the chains jealousy of how close the two of you were before this, or simply another villager trying to get you to go with them ‘because why wouldn’ t you want a tall handsome guy? 

✦ the sooner you can catch on and comfort him the better, as it’ll give it less time to get stuck in his head that you aren’t comforting him because it’s true, and it’s harder to tell himself that it isn’t while you’re pretty much confirming it

✦ but when you finally do get through to him that you don’t care about his height? That you aren’t secretly judging him for being so short? He’ll have a little moment where he breaks down, he’s been avoiding you for so long… and for what? All that time with you he’s missed over such a ridiculous reason will haunt him for at least a few days.

✦ he'll be impossibly clingy and almost showy after the fact, to the point where other people start getting concerned about how close he's getting - but it's not like he's hurt anyone else over it yet but if the villager who planted the idea in his head ever appears again then, well who would blame him..?

✦ This is a bit more of a unique one, because it isn’t something he’s had to put all that much thought into before, it’s just never come up, but when he hears how some of the others talk about relationships he starts to have doubts about himself. 

✦ He simply doesn’t feel things that the others have described and the things that he has felt happened so much slower than how they said it did for them. He simply can’t help but question if there was- is something wrong with him. 

✦ He only started to fall when he was good friends with you, not the instant connection that he heard that time had with malon, or twi with midna. He doesn’t want you the person who he loves more than his own life to be with someone who he’s starting to think as so broken. If he can’t feel love ‘right’ then how could he hope to treat you right? 

✦ If he learns about this being normal, about the fact that other people share the same things as him, that he has flags that can use to show off his identity? It’s the biggest relief that he’s felt since meeting someone who treated him like a person. 

✦ once he’s gotten it through his head that he’s not broken, and that he doesn’t need to be worried about not being enough for you. You accept him for what he is and aren’t trying to make him change. It’s something he very very rarely gets to experience, and it definitely helps him feel even closer to you in the end 

✦ some of the biggest comfort he gets is you just accepting him and letting his feelings progress at his natural rate, it’s one of the best things he could have hoped for.

Bruce falls to his knees and... and hugs him. Is so GRATEFUL. Shaking like a leaf and clinging like he might disappear. Had been braced like he thought Tim would snarl and fight him.

Tim just hugs him back. Pretend not to notice the wet, seeping into his shoulder.

And it totally helps! Batman feels more in control. Knows where he is. Is calmer. It even saves his life a few times. But? Technology gets better and fights get harder. He gets thrown into a wall. Crunch!

Immediate emergency surgery to get the old tracker out. In pieces. Tim nearly gets poisoned too. But NOT having the tracker in? Bruce's anxiety shoots through the roof. He locks himself in his lab. Comes out looking unhinged. Better tracker. Limited bio feedback.

Sure. Okay. Whatever helps, Bruce.

But then? Alien bullshit. They go to deep space. Out of range. Bruce FREAKS. It starts becoming A Thing. Better range. Harder to break. Smaller. Smarter. More compatible. On and on and on. And? Bruce has started leaning on him more.

Tim GETS the Mission. The need to plan for plans within plans. The odd hours and late nights. He's seen Bruce at his WORST. Is his partner.

Is... starting to notice boys.

Develop NEEDS he didn't have before.

Things that Bruce can't control or follow him in. Or at least, is not SUPPOSED too. The anxiety is unbearable. Every punk a vessel for STDs and supervilliany. Plotting to stab Tim or get him pregnant and blackmail him. Alien face eating parasites. League plants. Alternate reality future assassins!

He can't bear it.

But he can't ignore that it perfectly VALID for Tim to have NEEDS.

But... but Tim is HIS. He NEEDS Tim. These distractions are unacceptable and frankly? A problem to be fixed. And really, he KNOWS why Tim is (in his own awkward, charming way) searching out these boys. The potential to "fool around". Feel good. Orgasm.

There was a device patented recently by Wayne Medical. He can vastly improve it with alien tech. Make it unhackable.

Tim doesn't need those boys. Tim has him. The mission. And besides, this is BETTER. Cleaner. Tim likes clean! And THIS way, he can have... can HELP, Tim without crossing that line. It's not like he's TOUCHING anything, like this. So it's better.

This time he put both devices in, instead of just the tracker. It takes a bit longer to heal, since one connects to several nerves. But that just means No Dates and more time with Bruce. Which is nice. Waits for Tim to heal up.

He fingers the innocuous little black clicker. Makes sure to watch on the security feed. Don't want to catch him somewhere precarious, he justifies. And as Tim enters his room, closes the door, he let's his thumb rest on the button. Click.

Watches as Tim jolts, cries out at the new sensation, his legs shaking and then giving out beneath him. Leaving him to ride out the aftershocks on the floor, utterly confused. Bruce drinks in every sound and expression. Clicks again, just to be sure.

Again Tim buckles, a plaintive whine wretched out of him. Brain unable to tell him WHERE on his body the pleasure is coming from, only that it is happening. Legs pressing together, trying to rock and tease, ANY stimulus so things might make sense.

Adorable.

He really does want to tease him. Make him feel so good, he's left brainless and drooling. Bruce decides he was right. This IS cleaner. Better. No disgusting, handsy boys panting and grunting, as they rutt against Tim like animals desperate for their own release. Not a care in the world for Tim's pleasure or duties. Just Bruce.

And he can take care of his Robin. Watch over him. He presses the button again, just to watch his boy spasm in pleasure. It's not WRONG if he doesn't TOUCH Tim. He's just helping. Providing!

And that's what he'll tell himself. Every time Robin gets a reward for doing a good job. Click. Or gets a good grade in class. Click. Or comes to spend time with Bruce instead of those icky, icky DATES. Click.

It's not conditioning! It's REWARDS.

Tim LOVES spending time with him! (Click.) And, of course, he realizes that needs evolve. Not everything can be solved by his clicker. So that's what toys are for. Harnesses and fucking machines. Intimidating at first (Click.) but Tim is very brave and has many needs. They help.

And if Bruce supervises? To make sure he doesn't get hurt? It's purely out of concern! They discuss cases. The days events. Why Tim does NOT need to EVER date and is happy he has such a good Dad. A good partner.

Nikolai is a classic blanket thief, but he doesn't steal the blankets for himself. He steals them for Fyodor, groggily making sure that Fedya is nice and tucked in so that he doesn't get cold during the night. This usually means that Sigma gets cold at night, and the only way to guarantee he'll get any sort of blanket coverage is to sleep in between Nikolai and Fyodor. Fyodor mentions that this arrangement was likely Nikolai's goal all along, but Nikolai refuses to comment on the matter.

Separately, all three of them are perfectly capable of cooking or baking without causing any sort of catastrophe. And together, Fyodor and Sigma work rather well together in the kitchen. The moment Nikolai enters the mix, all hell breaks loose. Not because Nikolai is bad at cooking. On the contrary, he's quite skilled in the kitchen, particularly at baking, but he can't resist causing problems when it's all three of them. After all, Fyodor and Sigma just look so cute when they're irritated at him, so how can he resist?

Nikolai never stops moving. He's always dancing or swaying or using his hands to fiddle with something. He's better at controlling himself when he's cuddling with Fyodor, who tends to prefer stillness when he's relaxing. With Sigma, Nikolai is always playing with his hands or pulling him into his lap or even braiding his hair. And when he is ready to settle down, it's that much easier to snuggle up with Fyodor once he already has Sigma in his clutches.

But when Nikolai's not in the mood to cuddle, Fyodor is quick to steal Sigma for his own gains. He's always cold, and Sigma's always hungry for affection. Even wrapped up in a blanket burrito, Fyodor is the most comfortable when he has Sigma close to steal his body heat to cozy up with <3

Sigma always keeps a small first-aid kit nearby. Nikolai tends to be destructive, both to himself and to their home, so he likes to be ready for whenever Nikolai inevitably hurts himself. He also keeps an eye on Fyodor, whose habit of biting through the skin of his fingers worries Sigma more than he would ever admit. Fyodor gets a little annoyed; why waste a band-aid when he'll likely need another one within the hour? But he finds Sigma's determination cute, so he lets himself be fussed over from time to time.

Sigma lived a sheltered, lonely childhood, so Nikolai makes it his goal to fill their daily lives with enough excitement to make up for it. This includes celebrating everything. He has a calendar, and it's difficult to find a week where every day isn't circled for one reason or another. From the smallest of anniversaries ("Look, Sigma! Six months ago today, you left the water running and flooded the kitchen!" "Why the hell are we celebrating that!?") to foreign holidays that they've never heard of ("Happy Fourth of July!" "Put the fireworks down, Kolya!"), Nikolai is determined to make a big deal out of it all. Sigma goes to Fyodor for help, expecting him to be the voice of reason capable of convincing Nikolai to stop. When he learns that Fyodor is the one providing Nikolai with the names of all of these random holidays, Sigma's not sure why anything surprises him anymore.

I LOVE THIS IDEA!!! like i didn't enjoy questwatch as much as i thought i would tbh but including hanzo and shimadacest in the story just made it so interesting LOL

i think genji would give hanzo so much work just because he knows hanzo wouldn't punish him, it would be hilarious. and the shit genji and tracer would get up to, to queen emily and hanzo's dismay? blizz should've gone with that angle XDDD

Hanzo is but a child when they meet

The King has a nasty habit of taking in unruly children whose parents can’t or won’t care for, and training them to be knights. Genji comes in a scoop of scrawny 8-year-olds about three years after Hanzo himself is handed over by his father, except that Genji’s parents don’t try to get rid of him like Hanzo’s dad did; no, Genji's father was a knight himself and died in the long running war, and his mother, or so the gossip goes, died of heartache upon hearing the news.

At this point Hanzo has made himself a bit of a top dog among the other kids. He’s only 12, but there’s already so many ugly feelings inside him that he pushes and pushes on the training grounds, until when he goes to bed at night he just blanks out. Wakes up the next day and does it all over again. The kids fear him; the knights who train them, love him.

So when Genji arrives full of toothy smiles and snarky responses, they clash. He gets under Hanzo’s skin fast and he enjoys doing it – revels in the looks of wonder the other kids save for him, because he’s the only one who stands up to Hanzo.

It takes less than a week for Hanzo to lash out at him during training. Adults have to step in and push them apart before he beats the younger boy to a pulp. He gets weeks of cleaning duties for punishment and hates Genji even more.

But time does its thing; they learn to get along if only to avoid problems. Hanzo finds that Genji is fun to be around and as they grow older, when he realizes that boys are more than just stinky and prone to fight, he sees beauty in Genji’s smile and a similar desire in the hands that search for him after nightfall.

Genji is his first kiss when he’s 17 and shaking with cold and anxiety.

But they’re not alone, that night. There’s a knight doing safety rounds and he sees them hidden in the forest. It’s nothing more than kissing, but he takes them in and punishment comes hard enough to drive them apart. Hanzo is made knight early and sent to war on the far eastern front; Genji stays to finish his training.

The war is long, merciless, horrifying. Hanzo learns that while boys might enjoy a little spar, men are more destructive than any monster he’s ever encountered. He’s forced to forget Genji because he knows he might never see him again; just hopes they can end this carnage before the younger man is sent to fight alongside him and either has to watch the other die.

Years later, when he returns victorious in spite of everything, one of the few survivors, the King is dead to old age and Queen Emily, a much more benevolent creature than her father, is ruling. Her hand is kind and her smile is easy, and she crowns Hanzo Royal Guard Captain for his merits in the war.

He doesn’t think he deserves it, but when he stands before the crowd and sees the proud joy in Genji’s eyes, he forgets all the horrors and all the time passed fades away, and they’re kids hiding in the woods to experiment love for the first time all over again.

They run off that night to that same place, and Genji tells him they were going to make me Captain if the war never ended when it did and Hanzo says he’s sorry, that he deserves it more than Hanzo does, and Genji laughs and tells him thank you, I didn’t want it, you were born for this.

Hanzo cries when they make love for the first time because he’d forgotten, for years and years, what good feelings were like.

It doesn’t take long for the word to spread out, that the Captain takes one of his knights to bed every night, that this was the whole reason they got separated in their youth. Queen Emily calls them to a private meeting one cold afternoon and Hanzo wants so bad to hold Genji’s hand, he’s terrified that they’ll never make it out of here alive, but they kneel before her with pride and resilience, and she sighs.

Before he died my father told me a story about the two of you, she says gravely. About why he arranged to send you away. It wasn’t because of your love… You should know my father, albeit harsh and strict, had no problem with men like you, or… Women like me.

The Queen seems to blush, bowing her head gently to glance at her own personal guard, a lively brunette who’s far too quick on her feet for anyone’s good, Hanzo has learned since his return.

And the soft tone of this conversation finally clicks. He chances a quick look in Genji’s direction and finds a knowing smirk.

However, she resumes a minute later, the truth is that… Well… Though you weren’t raised together, my father told me you two are actually related. It was a matter of forbidden love between your darling mother, Captain, and your heroic father, Knight Genji. Now, we have no way of knowing how much of this is true, but… You understand his reticence to allow a romantic relationship to bloom between you. Here I am no one to stop love when it’s so clearly written before my eyes. But I thought you deserved to know.

Her words fall flat at Hanzo’s feet; they might be half-brothers, he thinks, but as the Queen herself said, they weren’t raised as such. He feels no fraternal affection towards the man beside him. And life and war have thrown so many horrors towards him that he wants to grab the good and the love while he has them.

Genji as well doesn’t seem at all unnerved by the news. Instead, later that night when they retire to Hanzo’s sleeping quarters, he claims love to his big brother and laughs when Hanzo blushes, and things seem to be just fine.

So in the years that follow, the kingdom of Overland becomes a place where people like Hanzo, Genji, Queen Emily and Tracer, the knight, go to find peace and acceptance. They don’t start new wars and the knights fight to protect the Queen and the goodness that she sows. Hanzo still assists training squires and Genji becomes his right arm on the field.

And together, they’re unstoppable.

I also think that C/rowley's serpent nature would make him more susceptible to get sick on certain times of the year! Ain't that lovely?

About A/zira, I think he is one to admit when he gets sick, he probably calls C/rowley to tell him to move their plans to another day (yk like a responsable husband NKDNSJF), and every single time, his demon will come to the bookshop to take care of him!

Also YES A/zira prefers handkerchiefs over tissues, it suits him. And C/rowley would be the opposite lol

I also do think both would be hesitant to take meds, they would be like "ugh but I'm a(n) angel/demon, I'm sure I can heal on my own" and then get a really bad fever and accept their fate lmao

C/rowley is ABSOLUTELY allergic to christmas shit and you can't take that away from me (mostly the tree and some candles btw I want him to have a nice xmas after all NKDSJF)

I also do think spending so much time with yelling at plants would cause him to have a disagreement with one of them and get fucked by pollen. So I think that how most of his plant allergies work, expect by the flower one. I think he would be allergic to Angel Tears (type of flower) because..... wouldn't it be funny?

Something similar goes for A/zira, I think he would not have as much problems with plants because he's nice, but he would be allergic to Devil Flowers (type of flower) because WOULDN'T IT BE FUNNY?

For the unusual allergy, of course, both for of them it would be either holy or cursed things. They would have a visceral reaction to be near or touch/smell them, this purely makes sense. Also the whole "Bless you" and "Damn/Fuck you" situation 😭 this counts!

On the same note, the dog allergy for A/zira would be more directed to the hell-hounds because they're..... helly? This is self-explanatory i'm out NKJFDKJ

Same as before, I don't think meds would work a lot with them because their corporations work a bit differently than regular human bodies, but yada-yada you get this part.

In both of their cases I suppose they developed them when they went to earth, before that... I don't think angel were allergic to anything... I don't even think there were allergens in heaven 🕴 anyway

Also, both would be slightly allergic to dust, but C/rowley would be more sensitive to it, in my opinion >:3c I thought of this because we see him sniffle in two specific situations, outside (on cold or cloudy weather) and in the bookshop. So this is very ironic and I love it!

Oh! and C/rowley being sensitive to light is entirely my own thing, I just think it suits the snz aesthetic I have for him in my brain JFDNKJF

I love the idea of C/rowley being ashamed of sneezing, because it CAN cause him to involuntarily turn into his snake form. So he tries to keep them in. I also think he would have like- little airy stifles in a way, like if you've hear a snake sneeze you know what I mean LOL So I like to think he has soft sneezes, the kind that barely have a sound to them, polite and quiet, but he makes a whole deal out of it <33 and because he tries to keep them quiet and discrete, he doesn't really bother covering, he just- kind of turns his head to the side and lets them out 🥺💖

A/zira on the other hand, would be the complete opposite. He would have loud sneezes with long build-ups. He would be very expressive about them, form the pre-sneeze face to the little "Sorry I have to-" calls when he has to sneeze. He also probably loves the relief they give him, and also likes the silly little thing humans have grown to say whenever someone sneezes, he like the little nice attention! And ofc he has to be old-fashioned about it and use a hankie <33

🦄 - Characters’ Physical Appearance

Let’s start with Yugi:

I feel like Yugi would have piercings because why not? He loves dressing edgy to begin with, so having piercings means more jewelry to cover his body in.

Wears all black most of the time, but dresses in professional clothes (like his DSOD fits) when he has to run errands or he’s working. I think he’d wear platforms to add some height and tease Atem about being shorter than him now.

Chains and leather everywhere, a phase he doesn’t grow out of from high school. There are some days where he just goes out in pure bondage because it makes him happy. He’s embraced this unique side of him, and he’s okay with being the odd one out. Wears eyeliner, but he’s jealous of Atem’s natural ability to apply it onto himself.

Depending on if that pink part of his hair is natural or not, I like the thought of him dyeing it different colors (I mainly have this headcanon for modern AUs, but it can work for canon too). At one point, he does it full rainbow, but swears to never do it again because it’s too complicated to separate each color in his hair.

Atem time!

I love the thought of him having curly hair. Whether it’s 3C or 4C matters none to me, it’s just great in general. Let this man have curly hair 🙏

I believe Atem would also get some piercings here and there. Maybe not as many as Yugi, but definitely a good amount so he can decorate his body as he pleases. He loves to match his jewelry, and occasionally will have matching earrings or necklaces with Yugi.

I like him wearing clothes that are loose and flow nicely because it’s reminiscent of what he wore back in ancient Egypt. It’s also another feeling of freedom to him, not being constrained by tight fitting clothes like Yugi wears. Sometimes he’ll wear darker outfits when he’s in the mood, but most of the time, he and Yugi are like Yin and Yang, complete opposites (fashion wise).

Naturally good at his eyeliner/kohl, something he remembers from his past. Whenever Yugi gets frustrated with it, he offers to do it for him (insert that one drawing meme of sitting on someone while doing their makeup).

And, of course, he intermingles silver and gold jewelry to match both Yugi’s choker that he was given and the cartouche Anzu gave him.

🐅 - Characterization: Character habits, personality, etc.

For Jou! Ahh, yay, I never get to talk about him, but I have some headcanons for him in my brain ^^

In the beginning of the manga/show, we all know Jou is a bully that picks on Yugi. However, he learns about friendship and how to be a good friend. He’s there for all of his friends whenever they’re going through a tough time, and he supports them to the best of his abilities.

He prefers to be independent, and he doesn’t like offloading his problems onto his friends (hypocrite). He’d rather deal with them by himself than let everyone know what’s going on in his personal life. He swears to never drink alcohol because he despises the behavior/bad habits of his father. He smokes sometimes to relieve himself of stress, but he gradually stops when he finds dueling as another means of escape from reality.

He goes to Yugi’s house a lot to play video games, teaches Atem certain customs he’s not familiar with, walks with Honda sometimes, accompanies Anzu when she needs a shopping buddy (even though he hates it), and takes his sister out on the town.

He’s protective over everyone and always throws himself in danger to avoid them getting hurt or involved. He never wants to see his friends in a bad situation, and he’ll do everything in his power to get them out of it. He aspires to follow in Atem’s footsteps after everything Atem has done for him. He sees him step down from the plate after being resurrected and decides to take his place for him when it comes to defending everyone.

We all know he has his flirtatious, naughty attitude, but when it truly comes to dating someone, you know he’s gonna take good care of whoever it is. Good boyfriend and good brother.

In the past, you would’ve never caught Jou doing anything out of the norm. He would’ve laughed in your face about it and called you a loser. Now, he doesn’t care. He sees how freeing it is for both Yugi and Atem to be who they want and dress how they want. If Shizuka wants to paint his nails for her own enjoyment, then he’ll gladly let her do it and not care if he keeps it on when he goes out in public. It made her happy, and frankly, he doesn’t care what other people think (though he was embarrassed and flustered about it when he first started stepping out of his comfort zone).

Igor grew up in the deepest parts of the deep sea. It’s cold and dark, with barely any light. The place is filled to the brim with dangerous sea creatures, angler fish being one of them, which is what Igor is. His parents dotted on him as their only kid and made sure he’s happy no matter what. And he was, up until his mother got sick and sent to the hospital.

After that the Igor and his father started to grow further away. But his dad made sure to see him at least once a day and make sure he’s alright. One day when he was 10 he decided to leave on his own without his father  knowledge. While out he got into a fight and managed to loose some of his fin. It took his father hours to find him.

After that Igor was told that he won’t be able to swim for a while, maybe ever. But of course he managed to anyways. His mother returned when he was 13 and things were semi Normal.

And even though Igor managed to get into nrc at 16, he didn’t join until he was 17 because of his missing leg. It took him a while but he managed to be able to walk with his new amputee leg and his parents rented a place on the same island as the school so he can see him more often and make sure he’s ok.

i answered for emeros, athenath, wyndrelis, talari, maxim, casirus, and syranel!

future: What's the worst possible future for your OC? Are they taking steps to avoid that outcome? Are they even aware it's a possibility?

athenath - it's hard to explain how it would wind up, but if we're talking worst of all worst possible futures? the trio is going to meet the dark brotherhood at some point, and however that goes is still up in the air, but if we want to talk about possibilities, the worst outcome for him would be to lose himself as Listener to the Night Mother. a complete inversion of their devotion to Mara, and the isolation of self that would come from it. athenath is a good person at heart, but they don't believe it, and if they allowed himself to be entirely isolated into the role of Listener and lose touch with everyone around them, SOLELY focusing on their duties as an assassin? they'd lose everything, in a way. they're not aware this is even on the table, if he lets it be.

emeros - emeros is not an angry person, to be honest, but if he loses himself in something he's currently seeking throughout the story… i'm not going to spoil too much, but vengeance is an obsessive weed, and he's got to have the power to pluck it where it stands and burn the roots. he's more than capable of that, but there's going to come a point where he's not even certain he could if he wanted to. worst possible outcome is becoming someone he can no longer look in the mirror, someone he doesn't even know, and losing his connections to his friends through this. he's very aware this is a possibility, and he's going to fight it tooth and nail if he can.

wyndrelis - trying not to spoil too much (as it's both a plot point in the future of CotS and his backstory fic, "Bone of my Bone"), but if wyndrelis returned to a path he used to walk when he was in the College of Whispers, then there would be a very real possibility his own talents would be his undoing and complete destruction. he used to have a mentor who saw insane talent in him, and worked with him constantly and diligently. this mentor is the reason wyndrelis started down a path that could have destroyed him. power-seeking is a big problem for him, and he's aware this is a possibility, and shudders to think what would happen if the temptation to go back arose again.

midnight: What keeps your OC up at night? Do they have nightmares? Fears? Anxieties? What do they do in the small hours of the morning when they should be sleeping?

maxim - his home was in the city of winterhold, before the great collapse. all his friends, his family, his loved ones, all gone in the blink of an eye while he was away in dawnstar doing business as a bookseller. he does have nightmares about it, mostly about the "what ifs", what if he hadn't gone out the days before? what if he'd stayed home and done business locally? would he have been in the sea with them? would he have never become a scholar at winterhold, never a professor? when he cant sleep, he makes tea with a calming potion and sits by a window, drinking it slowly and trying to remind himself of the present moment.

casirus - his life as a former vigilant of stendarr still haunts him. he still keeps his amulet close. it means nothing to him anymore. he doesn't have nightmares, but he does lay awake thinking about his time there, what he did, the things he's responsible for. hunting down people for their beliefs, tormenting them for worshipping daedric princes, was he no better than the thalmor that prowl in pursuit of talos worshippers? he has a lot on his mind, and he tries to not let it eat him up. when he can't sleep, or when he wakes up and can't fall back to sleep, he'll grab his lute and head outside to the courtyard and spend time just strumming, returning to the basics, easy things he knows and won't take much thought. it keeps him grounded.

talari - guilt, mostly. she thinks that she should have been stronger, should have stayed with the Synod when the great war was starting, when they were gearing up to fight with the imperial battle mages against the aldmeri dominion. she left because her family had been loyal to the dominion for many years, and she didn't have the courage, in her mind, to fight her family. so, she often ponders the "what ifs" of this. sometimes, if she and deroth duskmire (a dominion defector) are awake at the same time on nights like these, they'll sit together in silence and read, or just talk a little, a sort of understanding with the other without words being needed.

mistake: What's the worst mistake your OC ever made? What led to them making it? Have they been able to fix it? How have they moved on?

athenath - i can't spoil it just yet, but there's a reason that athenath became a devotee to the goddess of compassion. she's the only one that he felt could give them absolution.

syranel - becoming a justiciar. he doesn't know its a mistake yet. he was already a low-ranking soldier for the dominion for many years (mostly just doing paperwork or guard duty) and when his talents were finally recognized and he could become a justiciar, he took it without thinking of the effect it would have. he's lost someone very, very close to him due to this decision, and while he thinks that this person was in the wrong, he'll come to realize one day that it was quite the opposite.

wyndrelis - he didn't check the enchantments properly on a staff one time, and it cost someone their life. he'll never really be able to fix it, but he's doing his best to move forward.

secret: What's one secret your OC never wants anyone to know about them?

athenath - he never wants anyone to see them for who they really are: some grieving, scared kid who had to grow up too fast. a lot of their fear comes out as having a temper.

emeros - that he thinks he's a coward, incapable of ever really making amends for some of the greatest mistakes (and in his mind, acts of cowardice or ignorance) of his life.

wyndrelis - he'd give anything for no one to know it was him who caused the clocktower fire in his home town, and he never, ever wants to tell anyone about it.
