I think an underlooked part of what shaped jin’s mindset was how even back in Torna, he was considered “property”. He and Lora spent their whole lives avoiding the authorities of Torna because they believed would straight up execute Lora to get Jin back, and no one ever denies it. and this has seemingly been a fear since Lora was a child. Jin had to hide his face everywhere he went. Maybe Torna wouldn’t have been cruel enough to execute a child, especially since the king seemed decent(?) enough, if not a bit distant. But the fact it was even a fear at all for Lora since she was so young is just awful to think about.
According to his past self’s journals, Jin and his old driver fought in a war of independence for Torna, perhaps what made him a hero to begin with. and because he’s a war hero for deeds he doesn’t even remember, the kingdom considers him owned by them. Which is on the nose in two different ways ngl. Both in how the Blades are seen and a wider metaphor of soldiers/state. idk it’s just very sad to think about

OK since the day's nearly over and it's all I've been thinking about since the mv dropped, here's my simplified updated opinion on what Kotoko's murder is:
Kotoko kills red-haired guy (not milgram victim), saves Lucky.
She goes to court and is judged innocent due to self defence, she and Lucky grow closer.
Lucky retracts her statement that Kotoko saved her (family threatened/bribed by red-haired guy's father?), Kotoko finds out via news article.
Kotoko is very much pissed off by this ("Useless weaklings should just shut up and let me protect them")
Kotoko goes on the hunt of a new bad guy, Lucky somehow knows this and waits for her, Kotoko completely gives her the cold shoulder.
Lucky runs after her, accidentally gets involved in the hunt Kotoko is on. Kotoko kicks her out of the way, underestimates her strength and accidentally kills her

Reddit guys often act like Post-Evilification Nishiki is some kind of independent masculine icon compared to the way he was in Yakuza: 0 but the truth is that Patriarch Nishiki is. Lmao. He is infinitely more fragile and pathetic than he ever was in the eighties. All the energy he puts into concealing his weaknesses is subtracted from his ability to control them - which makes him a good leader for a gang of brutal thugs, but as a private person it strips him of all his strengths, and what’s left is neurotic and bloodthirsty and unstable and 100% charmless when parlaying with others on equal footing instead of barking orders at men who are terrified of him. He’s much wealthier while simultaneously being down at least fifteen percent in body fat, all his features razor-sharp, almost like he’s starving. He tries to convince people he’s on top of everything but you just know he isn’t getting any sleep. He’s a blatant contradiction, so desperate to inject a sense of value into the power he’s chasing but so uninterested in denying just how ragingly miserable the pursuit is making him. When Yumi reminds him he won’t be happy even if he has the money, he freaks out and demands that she acknowledge what he’s “achieved” - it’s about his worth, not his happiness, and the latter is an afterthought without the foundation of the former. He’s never been more dangerous or more hard to love and it’s eating him, wearing him away, all the people who once held him up transformed into names on a list of his failures. I am shoving him in a washing machine and turning on the spin cycle as we speak.

Done with the funeral 👍
It was rough at first, & there were a few Strange moments (like seeing my ex step family for the first time in like 8 years), but... in the end, it was actually kind of nice? I cried 3 times total, two during the service, but Thankfully not during when I spoke.
Which. That was actually not that bad. I ended up just reading what I wrote last night/this morning, which is usually not my presentation style, but I didn't have time to practice it lol.
I made people cry, though. Several people shared that with me. One person told me that I should be a writer, and I was like "Well, Good News about That!" I hadn't thought about the fact that my experience with writing would make a good eulogy, but apparently it did!
We played Linkin Park's Shadow of the Day at the end, since Linkin Park is something we grew up listening to because of him. And I'm just always gonna have that memory of it, now.
Yeah.

i think dany HAS to go north bc we have to see the dragons failing there… and it would lame if she didn't 😭
aksjdj yeah okay so i definitely get why george is struggling bc the sheer amount of MILES dany has to cover is insane. i know there’s like 2500 pages in 7 point font left minimum here but there’s also a lot of people in this story so even if he kills a lot of them in the next book, he still has to kill all of these people that takes TIME 😭😭
bc yeah she’s gotta get through vaes dothrak somehow and we KNOW she’s making a few pit stops along the way back to Meereen and then to Westeros. i do think there’s going to be some saved time bc like i’ve said before: that story she had in the show where she’s going back and forth with jon and fighting in the reach and crownlands and westerlands is just Not happening that way with her. the same way that cersei blowing up the sept that conveniently had like 80% of her opps in it was likely them just dealing with like 6 storylines at once and Whatever Cersei Does is going to work a little differently, Dany is not doing all of that lmao some of that is going to Aegon, some of that is going to Victarion, and Euron, and Cersei is probably doing some other shit too, so when she DOES probably land, she’s not gonna be as busy as she was in the show - mostly bc like, a lot of them are probably dead by the time she gets there aksjdjd. so like, i think there’s a high chance she DOES go north only to find her dragons refuse to pass over the wall or what’s left of the wall.
i certainly have like, my conspiracies or whatever about the order of events, but i think everyone definitely gets that part of what’s fucjing with george is just like, the sheer amount of PIECES on the board in the way before he can get to ados and the climax and dany getting to the fucking continent is one of them aksjdjd

(🦋) Taisho Era Secret: Nezuko and the Tokito Twins
Nezuko was near the Tokito home when Amane visited the twins, as extra security for the wife of the leader of the Corps. She stayed nearby to ensure the twins would be safe, and it saved Yuichirou's life.
While Muichirou dealt with the demon, which was happening well before Nezuko arrived, Nezuko came into the house to a bleeding and wounded Yuichirou. It took some work, but she managed to cauterize what remained of his arm and gave him the necessary medical care while sending word to Amane of the attack.
Muichirou cried at the sight of his brother still alive, and wouldn't let him go for a week after the incident. After the two boys recovered, they began training to become Demon Slayers.
Nezuko became something of a big sister to the twins, taking care of them and visiting them often(if they didn't visit her). She can tend to fuss a lot over them, but neither of them are complaining. Nezuko falls naturally into a big sister role, and Yuichirou is grateful for the help in wrangling his younger twin.

Wip of Luthien for an art class, it's been way too long since I've properly drawn her.
Can't decide if I should give her short hair (easier, my typical post-Beren design) or commit to my vague ideas of timeline and try to draw it long. Also even though her tunic thing is purely for the sake of approximating something like her normal outfit while showing off her lovely limbs that I worked so hard to draw, I spent way too much time figuring out how it could be constructed in one piece
I don't think I've drawn her hands since deciding on what they look like before, but she has Long Creepy Talons and two thumbs and I love them. I am also succumbing to my rule of cool and am going to try giving her a tail.
