but after your deployment, you are the one to arrange where the 141 meet up. it's a little ritual you guys have developed to stay connected in between missions, one that makes your friendship seem a bit more real. sometimes the only thing that keeps your eyes open and heart pumping. and since you're an absolute fucking menace, you ask if you can meet around the heart of london- and then drag them all into the nearest bubble tea store you can.

price... doesn't end up liking it. takes a total of two sips, nearly chokes on the pearls, and then sets the cup down. he claims he's been around long enough to know that this- like many other foods, is probably some 'trendy millennial bullshit that'll disappear in a solid few', but that doesn't help ease the insane side eye that he gets from the cashier.

but to your surprise, ghost seems somewhat okay with it. his face doesnt really change (from what you can tell- his mouth is still hidden due to some face mask he put on), but he seems neutral, relaxed, even. he mutters something along the lines of how it isn't too bad, but it doesn't beat a cuppa- to which you chose to ignore, and how he'll probably just stick to having an earl grey in the mornings. but a few months later, you catch him at the same boba store, and you cant help but giggle to yourself.

soap fucking inhales the drink. its genuinely concerning, to say the very least. he seems to like.. unhinge his jaw like some kind of snake, and then inhales the whole drink in what you think is a millisecond. and since he's the only scotsman on the team- thinks the whole 'tea n biscuits' ritual his colleagues have is utter stupidity, so not only does he now FREQUENTLY drink boba because he likes it- he also drinks out of utter spite.

gaz is the only one with a seemingly respectable opinion about boba, unfortunately. he's had it before, multiple times- it appeals to his sweet tooth and is the occasional treat after long missions. but unlike you, gaz does not value peace, and seems to keep egging soap on in chugging unreasonable amounts of the drink. (and he doesnt mention it, as he does not want to face the same punishment as you did, but he thinks that bubble tea is sometimes, just sometimes better than his cuppa.)

knife torture in a creepy basement perhabs? maybe a shady mercenary has captured a hero on a supervillain's behalf but wants to have some fun with the hero before they give them up

“I’ve been told that you’re not very easy to capture,” the mercenary said. Their collection of knives was impressive and the hero was, simply put, getting ready for the torture.

They had survived a lot of similiar sessions. Guns, knives, water, fire — by now, the hero could slip into a state of simply enduring it all. No panic, no screaming. Their entire energy was spent on survival and usually, they got away with it just fine.

“Not because of you, but your little guard dog...” The mercenary looked at them intensely and suddenly the hero realised this was about to get more complicated. “Kinda dangerous. Making it that obvious.”

The hero smiled dryly, feeling dread fill their stomach.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Oh, please. Do you think I’m that dumb?” The mercenary pressed a knife against their thigh and slowly, the sharp end dug into the hero’s skin, splitting layers of skin until it reached muscle. Until it reached bone.

The tears came quickly and the hero’s pathetic moans filled the basement. Their hands were bound behind their back, so they tried not to move at all. The wound would only get bigger.

“Christ,” they hissed, almost shouted. “Fuck—”

There was so much blood. The hero had forgotten how much they could bleed.

“Frankly, I don’t care about your little romance, the only feeling I have for it is somewhere between disgust and annoyance. I mean, who the fuck even cares?” They pressed the knife deeper into the hero’s thigh and scraped their femur terribly. The hero swallowed a scream, tried to maintain their composure but their tears wouldn’t stop and neither did the wheezing.

“What do you want?” the hero asked. For the first time, they were terrified. The mercenary knew about the villain. What if they had caught them? What if the villain was enduring this too right now? The hero couldn’t stomach that.

“Oh, you know…just wanna have some fun. I’m actually retired. Don’t get to do a lot of field work.” They pulled out the knife and the hero gasped in pain, praying that the villain was alright. Maybe the mercenary was simply toying with them? Surely, the villain was clever enough to get away from them. “Ah, shit. I guess you need that so you don’t bleed out? Hmmm. My bad.”

They jammed the knife back into the hero’s thigh, slightly above the first wound.

“Ouch, sorry. Not really good at aiming.” The mercenary shrugged. “Happens. Anyway. Your little lover? Do you think they’ll save you from all this drama?”

“God, please stop.” The hero struggled in their restraints, desperate to escape. They didn’t know what was worse: the knife? Or the psychological toying?

“Do you think anyone is gonna find you? I can tell you already, it’s not that easy. I’m no amateur.”

“You’ll kill me,” the hero whispered. “I’m gonna die here, I’m gonna bleed out, oh God…”

“You’re not the brightest, are you?” the mercenary asked. Again, they pulled out the knife and the hero’s thigh felt scorchingly hot. They didn’t want to know what kind of scars would be left on their thigh after this, how they’d explain it to the villain. “I need you alive. Blood loss is just helping me a little. Makes you dizzy, makes you sleepy. Makes you weak, just like the supervillain wants you.”

“You’ve made a pact with the devil,” the hero said. They leaned their head against the wall, tears still streaming down their face. The villain…they would save them, wouldn’t they?

“Very poetic.” They traced lines down the hero’s thigh, the knife digging into their skin every now and then. “But I don’t care that much about the money. I’m just curious if your lover will show up? People tend to think our lives should revolve around love. So, how much does your dear villain actually love you? Will they show up? Will they save you?”

They laughed and it almost sounded gentle.

“Let’s break all that trust you have in them, hm? At the end of the day, man eats himself. You’re terribly and very sadly, on your own. Just like the rest of us.” They whispered the last words. For the third time, they pressed their knife back into the hero.

The hours passed. And the villain never showed up.

I actually think that China views his beauty as more of a curse than blessing? Because of all the unwanted attention it gets him and the entitlement that some countries act like they have to his body, time, and labor, to the point where even if he refuses to do something on reasonable grounds they would act like he's being a total bitch.

That's interesting honestly I haven't thought about it like that before! I can only rlly see it for the early modern to modern era tho, wrt gender dynamics and China's own place in the world. Back when he was so powerful he was seen as divine, beauty among scholarly men was celebrated and admired, I've always thought he would be pretty comfortable in his beauty - beautiful scholarly men in China itself would be respected and among fellow countries, he's still one of the most powerful, even faraway traders who fall in love can only try to make him smile before getting dismissed if they get annoying. If anything I wonder if he'd be more irritated by how courtly officials might treat him, other countries are ants to him, 天朝, but courtly officials who are overly infatuated w him and act like perverts and are constantly around him would be annoying 🤧

Of course, there are eras where he's not the most powerful and at that point, it'd definitely be a curse, he gets conquered every once in a while by groups specifically dedicated to conquering him after all. I imagine the Qing dynasty was one of those cursed times jfkldghf

I do think it makes sense in modern day, he's clearly pushed around by the rest of the allies in canon (side note: why is does tvtropes do a better job on China and allies relations than the wiki omg he gets so bullied and harassed and treated like a maid by them and it's literally never brought up on the wiki) and expanding that, imo many western countries these days are also uncomfortably entitled to him, even as he grows more stable. On an individual basis as well, in modern-day his pretty face probably gets him a lot more bad attention than in the past 😶

Valentino is a lot stronger than he looks. He is capable of lifting and carrying those around him with ease, and he has a nasty habit of breaking things (or people) that aren't complying with his desires.

He might be able to fight someone with a stronger skillset if only because he cheats and mostly uses long-distance weapons. He stays out of the way and has a small but steady supply of angelic weapons. He is unafraid to get hurt, however, in the moment and will make stupid decisions about it if left to his own devices.

Mammon is very deadly when he wants to be. For the most part he comes off fairly dopey and like a massive crybaby, but a lot of that is what he does to manipulate people (Ozzie, mostly). He absolutely can and will kill if it gets his goals achieved, and he's been known to literally work people to death.

if they're comfortable with eachother again then yeah, macaque would jump to reassure wukong and also threaten murder (it's not illegal if you dont get caught). if they're still awkward and/or at odds, no way in hell macaque's going to make that first step. he'd just sit and watch and try to take in what he's seeing

i wrote a little blurb about sam and haley a while back, but to expand a bit more on how i picture their dynamic, i think haley and her family were the first people sam would've met after moving to the valley. and imagine being haley, almost 14 years old, and finding out that the new kid who lives next door is this dorky boy your age who absolutely does not stop talking and is practically bouncing off the walls with energy - she was like, immediately no. sam, on the other hand, found himself naturally gravitating towards her like he does all people who are a little mean to him (yes he needs therapy, no he's not going any time soon). some tiny voice in the back of his underdeveloped brain was just like, she can't fucking stand me? challenge accepted, and so he committed himself to being so ridiculously friendly and charming until he was finally able to get a smile out of her. and sure, she'll deny that they're friends to everyone else in town, but she also has this inexplicable fondness for him and sam insists to anyone who argues otherwise that she's a good person, deep down beneath all the sass, he swears. (also, in my headcanon they definitely fooled around a couple times in high school. haley made him swear on tony hawk not to tell anyone, ever.) as for emily, she's a bit older than sam and his peers, so he's always kind of seen her as the cool older sister he never had growing up. she taught him how to sew patches onto his clothes and brings him "natural" hangover cures the mornings after she sees him drinking at the saloon. sometimes, he'll run melodies by her on his guitar to get her input on them and she always has something insightful to say, even if she doesn't entirely "get" music composition. tldr; he likes them. he really does.
