snow lands on top.
pairing: young!coriolanus snow x linnea lowtower warnings: fluff. jealous!coriolanus. allusions to sex. possessiveness. 18+ steam. content: linnea and coriolanus attend a gala in the capitol where she becomes the center of attention, and coriolanus is not pleased with it. feedback is appreciated 🤍
Galas were frequent occurrences in the Capitol. The wealthy and elite sought after ways to flaunt the money that burned their pockets like the arrogant creatures they were. Most of them being the parents of students who attended the Academy. The most recent Gala was to celebrate the Fetsus’ parents on their new partnership with the University. Coriolanus could see through the nonsense like glass cleaner. They bought their son’s way into college. Even a child could see through it.
Regardless, it allowed the students of the Academy to experience such luxury and nauseating arrogance firsthand. A clear example of what their lives were destined to be like. However, unlike them, Coriolanus’ future wasn’t set in stone. Still, he scrambled for food and clothing—speaking of, he hoped no one would notice that the suit he wore was crafted by Tigris’ slender fingers. It was beautiful, but he knew Capitol kids; they were attentive and worked overtime to find something wrong with the next person.
Coriolanus pushed his thoughts to the side as he entered the home. The Creeds had outdone themselves. Music played on overhead speakers as servers waltzed the marble floors carrying drinks and food upon their shoulders. A plate with a slice of chocolate cake caught his eye. In one corner, he saw a group of young women pointing at a girl for her choice of dress, and in another, a group of guys deciding which girl they were trying to take home. Coriolanus’ lip twitched.
Coriolanus prepared to walk toward his friends but was stopped by an arm linking itself with his. He looked to his left and his eyes met hers. She brought her lips to his ear to whisper, “You’ve got to learn how to manage your facial expressions.” His features softened and he smiled.
“I’ll let you teach me,” he said while leading them toward their classmates who were downing flukes of champagne like it was water. He wondered how they would make it to lecture in the morning.
“Coryo, Linnea! Did you get here at the same time?” Clemensia asked with a tilted head. Linnea removed her arm from his and shook her head. Coriolanus fought the urge to frown.
“I got here a few minutes ago. Grabbed him when I was walking by. Oh—“ Linnea grabbed a fluke of champagne from a waiter’s tray and downed it in seconds, which earned a few cheers from the group.
“You came right on time. Cause they—“ Livia pointed at a group of guys behind them. Coriolanus’ eyes followed her finger. Disgust settled within him. Another group of obnoxious Capitol boys who couldn’t tell East from West but managed to have almost every Academy girl on her knees. Except for Linnea, God, he prayed it was never Linnea. “They’ve been looking over here all night. Let’s go!”
Linnea had no time to protest before she was whisked away by Livia and Clemensia. Her eyes caught his and seemed to whisper an apology only he understood. A hand dropped on Coriolanus’ shoulder. Festus and Sejanus. “And then there were three.”
Coriolanus did not want to make it obvious that he sought Linnea like a hawk while she interacted with the group of men. It was a sickening sight to see. She seemed happy with them and he hated her. Her full, red lips were peeled back and her beautiful smile was on display. She even laughed at their jokes. It wasn’t a soft giggle, either. No, it was a laugh that bellowed deep from her being. What could those morons have said that was so funny? The icing on the cake was when one of them touched her waist. His nasty fingers danced along the small of her back like they belonged there. She flinched and pulled away. Coriolanus’ nostrils flared in distaste.
Linnea backed away from the man in attempts to keep his hands away from her, but, in a drunken haste, he proceed with his advances. Livia and Clemensia were in lala land with the jocks and hadn’t noticed. But, Coriolanus did. In the blink of an eye, he stood behind Linnea and pulled her back by her waist. His hand planted firmly on her hip, his thumb close to the seam of where her underwear sat beneath her dress. It was an act of of possession. She could feel his heavy breaths against the crown of her head. “Is there a problem?”
The handsy individual went by the name of Fabio. His parents were of the highest class in the Capitol and his reputation as an asshole proceeded him. Fabio jokingly raised his hands in faux surrender, muttered an apology, and walked away.
“Are you okay?” Coriolanus asked. Linnea turned in his arms and nodded. “I’m fine. I want to leave…my parents are gone for the weekend.”
Music to his ears. Linnea stepped aside to speak with Clemensia and Livia. “I’m not feeling well. Coriolanus will escort me home.” They bid their farewells and Linnea and Corniolanus exited the Creed home swiftly, escorted to a car by the valet service.
The ride to the Lowtower residence was tense. Coriolanus couldn’t stop replaying the interaction in his head. Had she really enjoyed their company? What so fucking funny, and how did that idiot think he could touch her? Nobody could touch her.
Linnea noticed his demeanor but chose not to acknowledge it until they entered her bedroom and the door closed with the lock of the door. Coriolanus unbuttoned his suit jacket and sat on the edge of her bed. His eyes were glued to her as she floated to her vanity, where she began plucking off her jewels one by one. Her dainty fingers pushed her locs away from her ears to unclamp her earrings. She slid off her bracelets one by one.
“Will you take my necklace off please?” She looked over her shoulder at her lover. He stood to his feet and grounded himself behind her. He moved her hair to the side and ran her finger along her shoulder blade. She shivered. His fingertips danced along her neck and the hairs there stood at attention. With one pluck, the necklace slid down the valley of her breasts and into the deep cup of her dress. It was beautiful—made by Capitol designers. A bright red gown covered in sparkles. A slit down the right side and a heart-shaped neckline that plunged just beneath her breasts.
“You looked beautiful tonight,” Coriolanus said lowly. His warm breath fanned her ear. Linnea’s breathing became heavy as she leaned into his embrace. He lowered his head to bring his lips to her neck. Brown and warm. Slowly, he unzipped the dress that covered all his eyes burned to see. It slipped down her waist and fell at her feet. The necklace landed on top.
“Thank you,” she managed to muster.
“It seems I wasn’t the only one who thought so, hm?”
“Coryo…” She had a feeling she knew where he was headed. “They were just being friendly.”
Coriolanus gave a dissatisfied chuckle. Friendly his ass. He was a guy, he knew how they operated. Fabio looked at his girl like he was ready to eat her alive! He wouldn’t stand for her it. And then when he touched her? It ignited a fire deep within his loins.
“Yeah…I didn’t like it. They’ve wanted you for a while, did you know that? Talk about you in the hallways, in the restrooms, wondering what it’d be like to have you pressed against them…to touch you…to hear you cry out…to take yet another thing away from me.” His thumb hooked in the band of her lace underwear and he pulled it back with a pop. Linnea cried out his name and gripped the edge of the vanity. “Take them off.”
Linnea stepped out of her underwear and kicked them to the side. Coriolanus drank in their reflection, drunk off the sight of her bare body on display. Her eyes were closed and her head rest on her shoulder, chest heaving in anticipation of his next move. He could smell her arousal as her body warmed.
“I can take you right here. Mark up that pretty little body of yours and let everyone know you’re mine…” His tongue grazed her neck and he bit it softly. Linnea moaned lowly. His hand cupped her chin and forced her to meet his cold eyes in the mirror. “And that Snow always lands on top.”

All of the girls you loved before
{Fandom: Grishaverse}
{Pairing: Jesper x reader (platonic)} {Jesper x Wylan}
Summary: Reader is an old fling of Jesper’s and joins the crows on a job. Wylan is not amused as the reader and Jesper flirt and his mean side makes an appearance. Just fluff. That’s it.
Tumblr media
“Every dead-end street led you straight to me
Now you're all I need, I'm so thankful for
All of the girls you loved before
But I love you more”
Tumblr media
• From the moment you joined the crows on their latest heist, you could tell that Jesper’s boyfriend, Wylan was not your biggest fan
• You hadn’t really been on jobs for some time, what with you trying to be a better person
• For her
•because she deserved that and much more
• partaking in criminal activity wasn’t the benchmark for being a good person but Kaz was a friend and the pay was just too good to pass up
• Seeing Jesper, one of your old friends was just the cherry on top
• Jesper and you had been friends and then something more before you two broke up and you fell in love with someone else
• “well, well, well, if it isn’t the infamous Y/N L/N” Jesper had smirked as he swung an arm around your shoulder
• “looking good, Fahey”
• and that comment had probably been when Wylan first started glaring at you, his eyes narrowed as you and Jesper joked around until you both got reprimanded by Kaz.
• It turns out Wylan tended to be quite mean when he was jealous, something that had surprised the rest of the crows
• “You talk quite a lot, did anyone ever tell you that?”
• “I don’t think now is the time to joke”
• You had found his jealousy amusing and Jesper seemed to share the thought as he looked at Wylan with heart eyes
• Kaz had paired you, Jesper and Wylan together to search the merchant’s study while he and Inej stole the dekappel from his living room.
• “my fantasy threesome” Jesper had smirked, “of people to work with” he hastily added as Wylan’s glare turned from you to him.
• You leaned down as you rummaged through the drawer of the merchant’s table, looking for anything valuable.
• “isn’t this so much fun?” Jesper asked aloud as he looked at himself in the mirror and posed with his guns.
• “just like old times, Jes” You smirked inwardly as you heard Wylan huff in annoyance.
• You made a victorious noise as you finally found something of value and pulled a pearl necklace out of the drawer, “look at this beauty”
• “you like pearls?” Wylan asked, his eyes trained on you judgmentally, “I think they are quite tacky”
• Jesper let out a disbelieving chuckle as he looked at his boyfriend
• You looked at Wylan with a raised eyebrow, amusement clear in your eyes, “I am more of an emerald person but Linnea adores pearls”
• “Linnea?”
• A small smile broke out on your lips as you touched the pearls of the necklace, “Linnea Opjer, my girlfriend”
• “Oh”
• “yes, Oh”
• safe to say, Wylan felt quite embarrassed by his previous behavior. Jesper chose that moment to join the conversation, “and how is she nowadays?”
• You chuckled fondly, thinking of your girlfriend as you clutched the pearl necklace in your hand “still smart as a whip and pretty as these pearls”
• “which are not tacky, by the way, at all” Wylan said hurriedly as you pocketed the necklace.
• “good to know” you smiled at him. You hoped Linnea liked the necklace. Maybe one day you’ll get her a pearl ring too, asking her to be yours, forever. But for now, the necklace would suffice.

A/N: Did I intentionally make Linnea, Nikolai’s half sister, reader’s girlfriend? Yes, yes I did. I could totally write some headcanons for her if y’all want. She’s Nikolai’s half sister, which means she’s already iconic.

Since it's summer let's have some headcanons:
Sorrel, Lin, Faline, Fallon and Ghislaine can tolerate the sun because they actually have melanin and are chill about the heat like, they just don’t go out when it’s bright outside? Just common sense things, really.
They also have the sense not to go out in the middle of the day and risk a heatstroke for no reason.
Edda and Briar morph into night creatures and exist only at night. When the sun is about to set is when they peak and they go to sleep when the sun is well up in the horizon.
Manon, Asterin, Thea and Imogen lack said melanin and suffer in the heat.
Well Asterin not so much because she actually doesn’t burn in the sun and instead gets this beautiful golden sheen to her skin??? Kinda unfair, really.
Kaya and Vesta just burn. Not ten minutes out in the sun and they're about to die but they always somehow need to be out during the day doing god knows what and end up burning while also risking a heatstroke.
If we're going by the lack of melanin the ones who really suffer are: Vesta, Manon, and Kaya because they're so pale they’re almost see-through.
Manon is smart enough to avoid going out during peak sun time, but that's also because she's a huge introvert and hates people.
Vesta and Kaya aren't.
Asterin loves to tan so she's out on the beach getting a nice golden color while trying not to burn (if she times it right she’s successful but any longer and it’s straight to burns)
Sorrel thinks she's an idiot but she's there with lots of chilled drinks and many bottles of sunscreen
Ghislaine wards off the awful heat by spending her time indoors reading. She can go out and have fun when the sun sets
She can see firsthand what happens when people try to brave the heat
It is always the same victims because they never learn
She really is done lecturing them and would let them suffer the consequences of their (idiotic) actions
Sorrel agrees with her
But Sorrel also makes sure they get plenty of water and stay down while their symptoms pass
They all really hate it though. They're used to cold temperatures and summer is not for them
Anything above 17C is too warm for them
If it gets above 25C they start dropping
Dorian tries to get Manon to join him at the beach but she gets out of it every time he tries
She doesn't really explain anything but one day Sorrel is fed up and tells him that she’ll just burn in the sun.
Dorian had a moment of realization and decided that the beach isn’t a good date idea. Sorrel remind him that going out during the day isn’t a good idea in general because have you seen how pale she is? You think the sun will be kind to her? You will kill her if you take her outside.
So indoors it is. Honestly Dorian finds it a good excuse to get Manon to stay over often. And she doesn’t really resist his “it’s already morning you can’t leave now,” and they just spend whole days together doing all kinds of things.
They still go out though, but it’s usually after 5 pm because the sun isn’t as vicious at around that time.
Dorian tans so beautifully though it’s not fair.
Summer is a time of hibernation for Manon though. She stays indoors under the cold AC because this is the only thing she can do during the the heat she knows she isn’t built for the hot weather. Like she’s powerful and doesn’t backdown from anything but she knows if she has a face off with the sun outside she’ll be taken out instantly.

The summer night was warm but the soft breath of the sea made it just right as the local village's carnival was just starting to pick up. The Buggy Pirates had landed earlier that day and were enjoying the festivities including their fearless leader Buggy himself more so now with a cotton candy haired woman on his arm. The Buggy pirates whispered among themselves, wondering who this woman was but they were all a bit to afraid to continue questioning their captain, after Mohiji got an earful from Buggy. "Captain Buggy sir, why are we going back to this island again? We were just here -does it have something to do with-" The pet tamer was immediately met with a look mix of anger and embarrassment from the head clown.
"Shut up you buffoon!" A floating hand charged Mohiji poking him square in the nose. "We came back to the island because my sources happened to have found out some important secrets for us."
"Sources sir? Is it that gir-"
"Silence!" And that was the end of it. As soon as the ship had reached the port of the small island, Buggy had given vague instructions for the crew to take it easy all the while keeping an eye on the ship and his treasure while he bounced off the boat, heading straight into town just as the carnival crew had been setting up for the carnival that night.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
So that brings things back to the night of the carnival where Captain Buggy had his arm hooked with the woman with cotton candy hair. The woman held his arm gently and sparkling blue eyes looked up at him, making the man blush brightly. "Now Buggy, I'm not keeping you from your duties am I?" her voice was soft and gentle when she questioned him.
Buggy looked down into the sky blue eyes of the woman beside him, a nervous grin spread across his face as he turned his head away and scoffed. "Of course not! Those bumbling fools can take care of things. I promised I would take you to this carnival and I am keeping that promise, Linnea." He turned to her slightly, shyly looking at her.
Linnea smiled, leaning her head on his arm, causing a shiver to run up his spine. "You shouldn't call your crew bumbling fools." she rubbed his hand again. "But thank you for coming out here with me tonight. It's just like when we first met." she laughed a bit, another blush ran up Buggy's features, "Well except now I get to enjoy the festivities instead of be a part of them."
Buggy hummed a response, taking in a big breath letting out slow, "Yeah~" his voice gave a little squeak, face crimson just thinking of when they first met: his arms around her, there faces so close, the spot light upon them-no... no need to get more flustered then he already was. He shook his head, clearing his throat, he needed to be cool-cool as a cucumber.
He glanced back at Linnea whose eyes were now roaming the carnival games, head lifted from his shoulder (much to his disappointment) Though he saw her eyes light up when they landed on a carnival game with rather cute pastel stuffies. "Oh Buggy, we should play some games, I think I want to try to win something for Fay. She would just love one of those little teddy bears." She pointed a delicate finger to a ring toss game where many little teddy bears and bunnies were displayed behind the counter.
Fay was Linnea's daughter from a previous relationship to which Buggy wish he had the pleasure of meeting so he could beat the man to a bloody pulp. Linnea had left the man and now it was just her and Fay, at least for now. Buggy wanted to change that...soon.
Buggy got out of his thoughts and nodded, a large smile on his face. "Linnea you know just as much as I do those games could be rigged. How about I just ," he detached his hand and moved its fingers. "Just make one or two of those prizes disappear." Linnea turned to him with a knowing look, and booped him on his red nose.
"Now Buggy, I want to win it fair and square...well as fair as I can. Maybe these ones wont be rigged?" Linnea murmured the last part to herself. Linnea, ever hopeful, wandered over to the game with Buggy shaking his head but trotting behind her but not before appreciating the view of her backside as it swayed slightly as she walked. He blushed furiously before shaking his head nearly off just as he joined at her side. Linnea placed some berry into the large man's hand who ran the carnival game. Buggy didn't like sinister grin the man was giving his Linnea, so Buggy gave them man a scowl, perhaps letting out a bit of a growl . The carnival man straightened up immediately. Linnea was completely oblivious. She picked up one of the colorful rings then moved her hand parallel to the bottles, she squinted-eyeing a bottle before tossing the ring. It clinked off the soda bottles and fell to the floor. She frowned and she attempted again, but failed. Buggy saw her eyebrows furrow: again she tried but she failed. Linnea was about to go to her purse to get more berry but Buggy stopped her with a gloved hand. She looked up at him curious, Buggy just gave her a cocky grin.
"Let me, you know I am quite the shot. I never fail to miss a target." he winked at her playfully causing her to snort, with a little blush.
"Buggy-"
The clown just chuckled and gave the man some berry before getting his own three rings. Buggy puffed out his chest, closed one of his eyes, stuck his tongue out causing more giggles from Linnea. He let his hand float before him,(the man nearly fainting behind the counter) bobbing up and down a bit before he then released the ring. Linnea watched the ring fly through the air before it landed perfectly around one of the farthest glass bottles.
The carnival man's mouth twitched, recovering himself from the sight of Buggy's hand detaching itself from his body he called out, "Winner! You may choose your prize." Buggy grinned at Linnea, she gave him a slow clap but she was smiling.
"What prize did you want for Fay?" the clown asked, his voice softer than usual. Linnea blushed again and pointed to the brown bear which the carnival man retrieved and handed it to the cotton candy girl. Linnea thanked the man timidly before turning to Buggy with a shy smile,
"Thank you Buggy, that was very sweet of you. Fay will love this."
The clown grinned puffing out his chest again, "Of course I'm sweet, I'm the sweetest clown around." Buggy waved his finger at her, "I told you I had a good aim and I have two rings left. How about another prize?"
Linnea opened her mouth to decline but Buggy was already tossing the rings, he landed both of them perfectly.
"Winner!" The carnival man shouted albeit this time a tad more weakly. Before the man could even ask what prize he wanted, Buggy with his detached hand snatched up a pink rabbit and a small plastic ring. The man was going to argue but Buggy shot him a look just as he handed Linnea the bunny plush, before pocketing the ring before she could see it.
"A prize for you, doll face." Buggy declared, that cocky grin still turning up his lips. Linnea took the pink rabbit stared at with wide eyes before holding it close to her chest. Her cerulean eyes looked up to Buggy with the most affectionate look. She took Buggy's hand and before he could utter a word she dragged him away from the game to a quieter part of the carnival. Buggy's face was pink, and that cocky grin he had on now turned into a nervous smile. "Linnea where are we going?"
She didn't answer at first just gave him a small shy smile, causing that shiver of excitement to run rampant in him one again. Buggy followed along after her until Linnea brought him down to the pier. The soft glow from the carnival their only light castes an array of colors on the dark water below. The young woman let go of his hand before she reached her arms around his neck and placed a kiss right on his lips. Buggy eyes widened but eagerly kissed her back, his gloved hands traveling down her back to bring her closer to himself.
The two broke the kiss after a moment, Buggy looked down at her speaking first, his voice a little squeaky, "Ah what was that kiss for? All I did was get you a silly old rabbit. Not that I'm complaining at all but-"
"It was your prize." she whispered shyly looking up at him, arms still around his neck. "I thought you might deserve one too."
Buggy was burning up now, his face was the color of his nose. "For-for what?" he stammered.
Linnea just smiled and kissed his nose, "For being so sweet, winning those prizes for me and Fay." She kissed his nose again, another noise escaped the clowns lips, "For taking me out tonight and well...spending time with me. I've missed you Buggy." Buggy gulped down something, a spare hand moved the collar of his shirt away from his neck.
"Ah well, it's nothing really." he stuttered looking away pushing back loose pieces of his sea blue hair.
"It's not nothing. I mean it, I really appreciate you Buggy." Buggy met her eyes and he just about melted into a puddle on the pier. Linnea's pink and blue hair danced around her face as she looked up at him with those pleading eyes. She wanted him to understand how much he meant to her. She was never good at speaking or trying to get her words across but she really did mean it. "Thank you Buggy." Linnea moved to hug him and Buggy just about jumped out of his skin. He shut down his nerves for the umpteenth time before hugging her back, awkwardly.
"Well you're welcome." His tone returning to that soft shy one. He gave her a little kiss on the top of her head. He wanted to say something more but he couldn't, not yet. Linnea hugged him tightly once more before they broke the hug now the two of them flustered and shy. There was an awkward silence for a moment:
"Um perhaps...would you like to go on the Farris wheel now?" Linnea asked timidly, hugging the stuffed bunny to her chest.
"Ye-yeah I would love to." Buggy answered once more putting out his arm to her. Linnea took his arm again and they both walked back to the bright lights of the carnival. She once again let her head rest against his arm, letting out a soft relaxed sigh. Buggy smiled softly at her. With his free hand he felt the plastic toy ring in his pocket, the last of the prizes he had won for her. He wanted to ask her-ask her that important life changing question he should have done it on the pier but..he was to nervous..but he would ask her. He would.

smoke, drink, break-up
pairing: young!coriolanus snow x black fem oc (linnea lowtower. warning: a few curse words. content: coriolanus lies to linnea about something major, resulting in a nasty disagreement. an: ngl, I don’t like this as much as I thought I would but it’s too late now lol. I thought of smoke, drink, breakup by mila j when I wrote this, so, that’s a loose connection to the title. hope y’all enjoy!
tags: @snowlandsontopp @babyzzlove @hlstead @rosewine-5 @unicornqueen05 @thegabbyh @neeville @fastlikealambo @urfavesim to keep your spot on the tag list, you are expected to interact!
The silence was deafening and the tension was thick enough to cut with a knife. He had never felt so small; not since his father was alive. It had been years since someone’s harsh gaze made him quiver, stammer over his words, and feel shame like a peasant in the presence of a king.
He wasn’t used to seeing her hard gaze. Her brown eyes were often full of love, adoration, and desire. Just for him. As they bore into his raging seas, he saw behind them flames of fire that he couldn’t quench. Out her ears blew steam and from her nostrils quick and shallow breaths.
Her lip twitched. The restraint was clear from a mile of way. Her fingers clenched around nothing. If she could wrap her hands around his neck and squeeze, she would. So tight until the vein in his temple became visible and the vessels in his eyes swole with fear.
“You lied to me.” Her words were sharper than the knife in front of her. It laid beside aggressively chopped vegetables—potatoes and broccoli spears. “Not only did you lie to me, but you lied about lying to me.” Her hands now gripped the sides of the counter.
“Baby—“ Linnea held her hand up. Coriolanus halted immediately.
“We had this conversation. When you became president, you’d end the Games. What did you do instead? You met with Gamemakers, teachers, politicians, and the freaking students at the Academy to tell them about the upcoming games!” Her voice was a lion’s roar—mighty and rumbling. “You promised that you’d end it. We agreed that there was no point in continuing to divide the Capitol and the Districts. What is wrong with you?”
How dense and unaware could she be, he thought. The Districts were no better in the present day than they were during the Games six years prior. Everyday, the Districts proved to be primitive, uncivilized places with inhabitants that lacked discipline.
“The people in the Districts need to learn that actions have consequences, Linnea. They’ve worsened over the years, and surely have worsened since our last conversation. Some things don’t need to be changed just because we think they do.” Coriolanus tried to be careful with his words. The last thing he wanted to do was anger her beyond repair, but it was too late.
She didn’t agree with his thought process. It was evident as her nose scrunched and her lips turned up. “I am District 11.”
Coriolanus scoffed. “No, you’re not. You’re nothing like those—“
“Those what?” Linnea challenged sharply. “Those people? Newsflash, I am not Capitol, Snow. I am District 11 and District 11 is me. I was one of the lucky ones. And if I had missed my mark, you know where I’d be? In that arena fighting for my life while people like you, those people, laugh, mock, and torture people born like me for fun, and because their feelings were hurt.”
Snow? How could she—“Linnea,” Coriolanus stepped toward her. She stepped back. “It goes deeper than that.”
And there it was. The volcano erupted and flames spewed from her pores. She smacked away the hand that cupped her waist and jolted a finger against his chest. “You are an insufferable human being, Coriolanus Snow. Insufferable, prideful, and a damn fool. Find someone else to keep you company.”
Linnea brushed passed him and swiped her coat off the hook near the door. Coriolanus’ footsteps were heavy as he stayed hot on her trail. She grabbed her purse and slung it over her shoulder. She’d be damned if she stayed with him.
“Linnea, where are you going?”
She didn’t turn back as she stated calmly, “Away from you.”
He never understood why people downed their sorrows in alcohol until the loneliness settled. Linnea hadn’t returned in a little over a day and it drove him mad. He knew where she was, he always did, but it didn’t make it any better.
The dismissed every call and message that was addressed to her. He hadn’t felt such a deep sense of rejection since his adolescence. He couldn’t go a day without speaking to her, but to know she could go without communicating with him with ease? It ate him alive.
Once she left, he took the time to ponder on what she said. Linnea was right—she was a District 11 citizen, and no marriage, no amount of money, and no prestigious education would erase that. And had her father not married a Capitol woman after her biological mother passed away, they’d still be in District 11. Attending a reaping, planting seeds in the group, or dead. God, he couldn’t imagine life without her.
Coriolanus knocked back the last of his drink and reached to pour another.
Insufferable. Prideful. Foolish. Had she truly meant that? Prideful, he could agree with. But insufferable and foolish? Unbelievable.
His eyes darted to the clock on the wall above his desk. 2:14 AM. He took another heavy swig of his drink. No sign of her return.
The home was eerily quiet when Linnea crossed the threshold a few hours later. Only the ticking of the clock was heard. She kicked her shoes off by the front door and padded toward the dining room. She threw her locs over her shoulder then winded her when her rings got caught in her hair. “Dammit. Coriolanus!”
Linnea stayed with her father and step mother for two days. She knew it wasn’t a wise decision to leave her husband without communicating with him, no matter how upset she was. Her father reminded her of that.
She wished she was more like him. More understanding and empathetic. He wasn’t pleased when she told him about the argument she and Coriolanus had, but he reminded her that they were of different groups—the elite and the working class. He saw things in a way she didn’t because that’s how he was always raised to see things. His view was narrow, and he needed someone (her) to help him expand it. So, she came home. To settle the tension and to talk to her husband.
“Coriolanus,” she repeated. She frowned when she entered the living room and found him on the couch, covered by her favorite throw blanket and a bottle of expensive alcohol on the coffee table. He was never the type to drink heavily. “Coryo.” Linnea tapped his shoulder. He stirred in his sleep like a child, but his eyes opened widely once her face became clear.
“You’re back,” was all he managed to say. Linnea nodded slowly. She nudged his side and he made room for her body. Her head rested against his chest and her was tossed over his. Coriolanus wrapped an arm around her waist and gave it a squeeze.
“Yeah,” she said lowly. “I’m sorry for leaving. I was just really upset and didn’t want to say anything else I’d regret later.”
Coriolanus hummed softly. “I’m sorry for not being competent. For not trying to see your point of view of things. I think when you’re in a certain headspace for so long, it’s engrained in you until you’re willing to unlearn it.
“The Games are unnerving. I don’t know what I’d do if things were different and you died in them. Your father would’ve been without a wife and a child…and I never would have gotten the chance to call you my wife…my friend. I am sorry, Linnea.”
There was a silence. So, he continued. “I’m not saying it will be easy, nor am I saying no punishment will occur for any act of treason or rebellion, but I’ll bring an end to the Games. Effective immediately.”
Her head shot up. “Are you being serious? Don’t lie to me, Coriolanus.” He nodded. Linnea smiled softly. “Thank you.”
His hand dropped from her waist to the swell of her bottom, which he squeezed softly. He leaned down and capture her lips with his own. She moaned softly as his tongue caressed her lips. Her mouth opened and he explored it with delight. Coriolanus smiled against her lips, “Thank me upstairs.”

Drunk
c/w: underage drinking, drunken teenagers
Slytherin wins their quidditch match against Ravenclaw and hosts a party down in the dungeons, everyone except the Gryffindors are invited. Snape doesn't care much for the party scene, but he ends up having to be a babysitter for his supposed "only" friend.
Tumblr media
Severus didn't mind the crowds, or the drinking, but he absolutely hated the hooting and hollering. He stood in the corner side eyeing everyone who was swaying and talking loudly. He was searching the faces in the crowd, house colors clashing together.
"Sev!"
Linnea stumbled, pushing past students and tripping over her own two feet. A lopsided grin stretched across her face casually. She reaches her hands out, making a grabby-motion. Her face was flushed, there was no doubt she was already drunk. As soon as she got to Severus she threw her arms around him, giggling.
"You made it! I thought you were never going to show up!"
He didn't shove her away, biting his tongue to keep from making a rude comment. Simply rolling his eyes and sighing.
"Of course I showed up."
"I was worried you were- were hiding from me again... You do that a lot."
"Come on, let's get you somewhere to sit down."
He guided her toward some chairs, his hand on her shoulder. Her legs were shaky as she moved, practically falling into the arm chair. Her legs tossed over the arm.
"Stay right here, I'll go get you some water."
"No!" Lienna grabbed his sleeve. "Don't leave. I hate being alone in big crowds."
He scoffed, but didn't move.
"That is very out of character for you."
"What do you mean?" She tilted her head, it lolled off the chair.
Severus coughed, clearing his throat.
"You're rather outgoing, very social. At times its seems as though you're too social."
"Aww! You think I'm social?"
"It's just an observation!"
"Well... I think you are really, really, really, really, really cute!"
"What-"
"Wait, wait- I thiiiink you would understand it better 'f I jus' said it with her face on."
"What are you talking about?"
Linnea sat quietly for a bit, trying to focus. Her hair suddenly turned orange, and her skin was peppered with freckles. She looked like Lily Evans.
"Oh god-"
Severus looked around before hoisting her up by her arm and dragging her off, walking quickly and ignoring the way she stumbled to try and keep up with him.
"Sev?" She tried to dig her heels into the ground, but her legs buckled, and she continued to stagger behind him.
"I'm not even going to get started on how morally wrong this is."
Severus let go of her wrist once they were out in the corridor, away from the crowd. His back was facing her, and he didn't want to look at her in this state. He knew she wasn't Lily and wasn't thinking straight, but it didn't stop how much it hurt.
"How are you doing this?"
"Wha- Oh! I'm a megaphone..."
That could have come out better.
"Wait, wait, wait. Megamortle- No- "
"Metamorphagus?" Severus answered for her.
"Yeah!"
"How on Earth did I not figure that out?" Severus muttered, mentally cursing himself.
She hung out with him all the time, and her hair just happened to change color with her emotions at certain times. To be honest, he just thought it was magical hair dye or something. They make all sorts of things now.
"You know, you're pretty smart. You're not just a potion master. You should have been a Ravenclaw."
She was saying nonsense because she was drunk.
"No, no, no, but I'm serious- Not Sirius- You get what I mean. I really really like you, but you like her." Her back slide down the wall, she cradled her head in her arms, legs against her chest.
"Can you- Can you please change back?" He still couldn't look at her, not like this.
"Why? I thought you- "
"I don't."
When Severus turned around again, he looked down at Linnea, curled up in a ball and leaning against the wall. She pulled at her hair to hide her face. Instead, she could have just willed it to do so, but that thought process needed to be there.
"You like Lily, and I'll never be Lily. I can't."
"You don't have to be." Severus sat down next to her. "I know emotions are high right now, but you don't have to be Lily."
For once, he allowed himself to be soft, comforting, and vulnerable. Linnea wasn't going to use it against him. She wasn't going to trick him or hurt him. She wasn't James or Sirius. She wasn't McGonagall. She was Linnea.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to like you. I didn't ask for this to happen. You just need a friend."
"I'm not mad- "
"I'm mad at myself." She cut him off.
"You're still my friend. Nothing has changed."
"But I hate myself for this!" Finally, he could hear her sobs; for a moment, they reminded him of himself.
Actually, this entire conversation reminded him of himself. When he pleaded for Lily to be his friend again, apologized for his feelings, and swore to lock them away and bury them in the deepest depths of his being, only she could smile at him again. Yeah, that went swell.
"Don't... Don't say that." Severus hesitated, wanting to reach out and put his hand on her shoulder.
"I'm disgusting and vile, and it's like I had an ulterior motive this entire time! I didn't, I swear! You just looked so lonely, and everyone was making fun of you- "
He wanted to punch himself for feeling so touched that she cared about him like this, but it was hurting her.
"Nothing has to happen. We're still friends. And we'll reach that point together if something does happen along the way."
He put his hand on her shoulder, and she shuttered. Her body shook with her sobs. Her arms wrapped tighter around her legs. Severus sat with her there in the corridor, a hand on her shoulder comfortingly. He wasn't much for comfort. It was so foreign to him. But for now, this would do.
