So. There's a NieR gacha. I've talked about it now and again on here.

In contrast to other games in the NieR series, which were in narrative structure reasonably traditional action-RPGs, following a small group of characters... NieR: Re[in]carnation is something a bit more like an anthology of short stories, all eventually tied together in an elaborate frame.

Over the course of the story, you are led to explore a vast collection of memories inside something called the Cage, a huge Ico-like stone structure full of gorgeous, moody environments...

...intermittently diving into the most dramatic moments of an impressively varied collection of characters, each portrayed in a cutout theatre style. They're a diverse bunch! Robot cowboys. Mountain climbers. AIs both kind and ruthless. Dark wizard yuri. Arabian Nights pastiche. Chuuni soldier boys. Elegant assassins, living weapons, disposable clones. Some are fantasy, some science fiction; some weave together and others sit apart.

And as you play further, you can unlock further stories, in various forms. All sorts of illustrations, all sorts of prose. The framing stories - the story of the girl Fio and the monster Levania who stole her body, the story of the violently estranged siblings Yuzuki and Hina, the story of the mysterious nature of the Cage, of its collapse, and the desperate bid to escape - all are very rich. The final chapters, where the characters are all finally brought together, are fantastic.

Not to mention - everything is voice acted, and generally very well (in Japanese at any rate, the English is more of a mixed bag). All is accompanied by a huge amount of gorgeous music by Keiichi Okabe et al., wrapping you in that mysterious, layered atmosphere. The UI design is magnificent. On an aesthetic level at least, there is a great deal to recommend here.

However.

As a game, NieR Reincarnation sadly left a lot to be desired. The gameplay is intensely repetitive, the strategy more to do with unlocking the right characters and grinding to level them up. Understandably, a lot of people bounced off it.

And now it's coming to an end.

In just a couple of days, the final chapter of NieR Reincarnation will be released. A month later, the game servers will be shut down for good! Perhaps, years in the future, they will release some kind of remake - but we can't count on it.

But don't imagine you can just jump in and experience it all right now. A great deal of material - the Dark Memories, the Recollections of Dusk - is gated behind a considerable investment of time and a strong team. There's a lot of events you'll simply have missed.

However... I have, perhaps unwisely, sunk the time into unlocking most of what can be unlocked in this game. I think it would be a shame not to get to experience them, and I love getting to share NieR games. These stories take some wild turns, and I think it would be a blast to watch together.

So here's the plan! Starting this weekend, and going on for as long as necessary over the next week, I'll be streaming the entire story of NieR Reincarnation on my twitch. Main story, character stories, EX stories: the whole lot, arranged for narrative flow. All the fun spicy parts and none of the grind, and you get to enjoy it with friends.

If you've been here for previous NieR game streams... well, I hope you had as great a time as I did. I fucking love NieR. For the other games, I would dig into the side material, read out fan translations of the stories, and do everything I can to give you the complete experience of the game. Here, there's not so much in the way of side material, but the game contains a lot on its own - and I want to share it all, the gut-punch parts and the goofy ones alike, because it all adds up.

Think of it kinda like an Animation Night if you want! An anthology series to enjoy together, just like the Animator Expo.

The first stream will begin on Saturday, 6pm UK time. I'll be making recordings and writing a guide to the story of the game too - but there's something special about watching something together, so I'd really love to see you there ^^

Oo okay! This is gonna be long because I did all of them.

My Hero Academia - I adore Dabi’s Dance first and foremost, then all the flashbacks to his childhood in Season 6, Episode 17. Third, I loved Aizawa and Mic’s conversation with Kurogiri in the Villain Academia arc, and one of the scenes that’s stuck with me the most in MHA is when Aizawa says ‘don’t apologise for being alive’ to All Might, I think around the Christmas Episode? That would be fourth. Finally, the scene where Toga uses Ochaco’s quirk in the villain academia. Those aren’t in order at all but they’re the things that come to mind

Jujutsu Kaisen - the scene in the end of season 1 where Megumi uses Domain Expansion for the first time after remembering advice Gojo and Sukuna gave him was really cool. And the scene where middle school Megumi is sitting on a pile of bullies he just beat up as second. Third, the end of the hidden inventory arc where Gojo’s asleep having dream flashbacks of meeting little Megumi, then he wakes up and grown up Megumi is the first thing he sees. In the same episode, the scene where Geto is giving a speech to his cult and kills a dude on stage is so uncomfortable and kinda disorienting, but so cool, so that’s fourth. The scene at the end of the JJK 0 movie with Gojo talking to deathbed Geto is my fifth.

Blue Exorcist - the scene were Rin is reading the letter in the Impure King arc and he’s just like ‘…interesting…’ and they’re like ‘what does it say’ and he just goes, ‘I can’t read it’. Second, the scene way at the beginning of it when Rin is yelling about how Shiro isn’t even his real father and then Shiro slaps him. Third, the moment where Amaimon was opening and closing Rin’s sword and his flames were just going on and off was funny. Fourth, when Rin talks to Kuro about Shiro’s death and gets him as a familiar. Fifth, Kamiki being the only reasonable one after they found out Rin was the son of Satan and saying she doesn’t really care. I don’t know when any of these things happened but it’s all in season one and two

Hell Girl - Ai Enma singing the song her cousin used to sing with her while she’s making the pebble tower is probably my favourite moment in the show, it’s near the end of season one. That’s my first. Second is in the Bride Doll episode when Ren is watching Inori get tortured by her mother-in-law and says ‘women are scary..’ to which Honne Onna responds ‘have you only just figured that out?’. Third, the scene where Ai talks to Nina in episode 17 and gets her to remember she isn’t actually Nina. Fourth, any scene where Tsugumi says she doesn’t think Hell Girl is completely in the wrong, much to Hajime’s dismay. And fifth, the flashbacks to Ai and Sentarou.

Your Name - the scene where Mitsuha reads that Taki wrote ‘I love you’ on her hand and starts crying because she can’t use that to remember his name. The scene with Taki in Mistuha’s body where her grandmother asks him if he’s dreaming and he starts crying. The bit when Taki goes in person to see Mitsuha and finds out that the comet killed everyone three years ago. I don’t know when it happened but I swear there’s a scene where Taki refers to Yostuha as his sister and I found it incredibly cute. Finally, the scene where Mistuha yells ‘please make me a cute Tokyo boy in my next life!’

Weathering With You - Hodaka saying the McDonald’s burger is the best meal he’s ever had. Second, Hina telling Hodaka she’s disappearing, then cuddling, and him waking up with her gone and Nagi having had the same dream as him. The entire part of the movie where Hodaka is running from police and doing crazy shit to get away from them. Of course fourth is ‘Who cares if we never see the sun again?! I want you more than any blue sky!’ And fifth would have to be Nagi, Hina and Hodaka in the hotel just having the times of their lives as a found family

A Silent Voice - the scene where Shoya’s mum stops Shoko’s mum from fighting with Ueno. Yuzuru’s conversation with her grandma right before the grandma dies. The scene with everyone at the bridge where Shoya calls everyone else out on their bs. Shoya saving Shoko when she tried to kill herself. Shoko when she tried to confess her love to Shoya.

Uchui hijacked the security and cameras, and the agents were chased away from the surveillance room anyway. So they couldn't have used the technology to find us.

Which means the only way they could have known exactly where we were...is by GUESSING. But Shirogane doesn't have the capacity to make such accurate analytical predictions.

But YOU do...And we know it wasn't the Enoshima AI because we already took care of yet, but Celeste found and attacked us anyway. And remembering that Kanata Inori and Kanade Otonokoji were revived by Zetsubou...

I've been thinking about an AU where the Warriors of Hope are teenagers and in a "classic" DR killing game alongside a bunch of OCs. My main thought: Protag!Kotoko x Best Friend Who Is Actually The Mastermind!Monaca. Yuritastic if I do say so myself

Toxic shoujo ai, the rarest of content out there, can, we enough love and care, do a Pokemon evolution into toxic yuri. Nature is beautiful

Personally, I think teen Kotoko would be a fantastic "rival" character rather than a protagonist. They could have a Sakura-Hina style relationship until all of a sudden they don't, with the protagonist slowly discovering that Kotoko's abrasiveness is in part because Monaca is manipulating her, until the surviving group is finally faced with the reality of Monaca as the mastermind. And then Kotoko goes from kissing Monaca to kissing the protag! A win/win really.

Meet the vaylantz

The vaylantz are based of tactic games like fire emblem and board games like chess or checkers. They are partially based on amiibos or the toys to life games example skylanders. The Human Vaylantz are have kanji that contain the words for the four directions.

Meet Shinonome

Shinonome means daybreak or dawn in Japanese. Her name contains the Kanji for East. She has a talent in sewing clothes. The weapon she hold is a staff where she can channel elemental magic. The staff has an affinity for water. The staff has those sticks that can channel elemental energy like a mint gun. The staff also has a laser form in the middle. She can summon bubble shields to protect her allies. Shinonome has a budding friendship with Nini who has seen Miss Hina and both are interested in giving makeovers. She is the youngest out of the human vaylantz.

Meet Nazuki

His name contains the Kanji for South. His name means Southern moon. He is a ninja. He is the older brother to Shinonome. He has the ability to disappear like a ghost blink in front of him and he is gone. He has those elemental seals on him. The unique thing is that he has a weapon that is not tied to an element. He has access to lightning but he can change to them depending on the enemy. He has a twin brother Saion. He is considered the most evil out of the vaylantz cause he is the embodyment of the meme "murder is okay." He is very loyal to his family. He is an over protective brother. He is the type of brother who says break my sister's heart and you will never be found. He is allergic to pictures and only the human vaylantz have seen him without his mask. The seals on his belt work similarly to delusions but it's tied to the weapon instead of the person.

Meet Saion

His name contains the Kanji for West. His name means West Garden or Park. Saion is an escape artist. He has the ability to escape with cardboard cutout of himself as the only thing left of him. His weapon has the ability to shoot arrows that have mini tornadoes around them. Those tornado spin fast enough to cut through steel. He has a love of gardening. He is described to be similar to Thoma but the difference is he was trained like hanzo from overwatch without the yakuza ties and has a more sass in his words. To sum his entire personality, Houseband who has the skills of Jon Wick with a bow instead of a gun.

Meet hojo

His name contains the Kanji for for North. He is the father of the three. He is the patriarch of the group. He has a blade that can cut through an entire stone pillar and melt it with the blade. He has a liver made of titanium steel. To get him drunk you need a years sale of all the wine from mondstand. He was rescued the his son's from an illegal group who trained assassins. He is the kind of father who if you came out to him, he would make this joke "Hello gay, I am dad." He would not care what you wanna be as long as it isn't anything dangerous but he would still tell you no sex before 18. Shinonome was abandoned as a baby so Hojo took care of her. To sum up his personality imagine Itto as a dad but much smarter with Itto's lack of social awareness.

Meet the Robo Vaylantz. They are all named after the aristocratic male titles. They work as the defense of their homeland. They also work as detectives of their land and they are the equivalent of the police.

Meet Buster Baron, He is the youngest out of the Robots. He is a scout and very fast. This Ai is described as a bit hard headed but he listens to the his higher ranking members.

Meet Voltage Viscount.

Has the ability to make plasma weapons think those Halo blades when he fights. He is the first line of battle who has a bit of range. He has a very sassy personality and swears like a fisherman.

Meet Mad Marquess

Marquess is a walking tank with laser weapons. He has a personality I can only describe as send in the nuke. He is a walking destruction weapon but he is generally asleep most of the time but as long as the other robots are not in significant danger he won't be active at all. He has a personality closest to Sara.

Meet Dominator Duke.

Duke is the leader of the group. Duke has a training regiment that is described to be so hard that most humans would die trying to do it. If you want to imagine it and you know Scathach from Fate, it is functionally the same training regiment. He is also has functionally a plasma cutter as a sword that is also a laser.

When times are rough Duke unleashes his actual form Vaylantz Genesis Grand Duke. What he does is combine the weapons of the other robots. Grand Duke has the power to fight deep beyond head to head.

The reason of why the I chose the Vaylantz is cause the theming to opposing sides representing Inazuma's story. The leaders had a parallel with Itto and Sara. Hojo is a relaxed leader while Duke is a strict leader. They also match the appearance aesthetic of Inazuma.

Currently there is an on going bet between who would win the main island or Watatsumi Island the loser gets to choose these people Ei or Yae vs Kokomi and Gorou. The loser has to do one command of winners. The bet is who is the stronger island.

in the world of YTTD, a death game takes place, where the participants must solve puzzles and determine who among them deserves to die.

the game is run by an organization called ASU-NARO, which poses as a nice medical company on the surface (and also seems to run some orphanages) but is secretly connected to shady businesses and apparently performs inhumane experiments. the organization has kept a close eye on the participants for years, perfecting artificial intelligences and dolls (perfect visual replicas, only lacking blood) of them. this is useful in the case of the dummies, aka participants who died in their first trial puzzles before they could meet the others, and were "revived" using dolls and AIs of them.

in order to lure the participants into the game, they are offered a form that is said to grant a wish of theirs if they sign it. they are told they are signing the "asunaro vow" — "who i want to be today, tomorrow i will be." in reality, they are signing a form that says they will devote their life to the organization.

pretty much all of the characters show up at some point, some more frequently than others. these main 4 paras all work at ASU-NARO. in this paracosm, they are an extremely close found family :> and they are very unethical. tee hee

SOU HIYORI / MIDORI | 24 | he/him

one of the ugliest color schemes in the game <3 he is called midori in the paracosm, as it is his default name when he gets renamed by the player. his role at ASU-NARO is to recruit the participants into the game.

midori is an extremely sadistic and cruel man, often finding it funny when others are in distress, and deliberately plays with the participants' minds to harm them. he is also not above physically harming himself, and much of his body has been replaced with doll parts. the only thing he fears is his own death. however, he is extremely protective of his family, and loves them genuinely, but puts on a more obsessive facade about it for the participants in order to mess with their minds more.

EMIRI HARAI / SUE MILEY | 25 | she/her

emiri is a researcher that, in canon, had ASU-NARO recruite her by driving her fiancé insane. in this paracosm, she works for them willingly, with her fiancé blissfully unaware. her fiancé is one of the participants in the game, named shunsuke hayasaka (link to his wiki). he is a more minor para, but that does not change how incredibly important he is to her even when he's not around. (this is actually because of a theory i have that i wrote down here :)) when disguised as a doll, aka a floor master, her name is sue miley, the laughing doll.

she is a bit hotheaded, and is often at odds with midori, who is more cheerful and snarky. with her loved ones (especially her fiancé) she is more sweet and excitable, and getting it pointed out by the others embarrasses her.

MICHIRU NAMIDA / TIA SAFALIN | 24 | she/her

michiru is a researcher that came to work at ASU-NARO because her old workplace treated her poorly. when disguised as a doll, her name is tia safalin, the crying doll.

she works with the participant dolls and AIs the most. although her work is pretty unethical, she gets very upset when called a "mad scientist" because she genuinely believes in her work. although she does not cry as much as her alternate role implies, she often looks miserable. according to midori, "if you put a puppy in her arms, she would act as if it had died there!"

HINA / HINAKO MISHUKU | 14 | she/her

hina was abandoned as a child and lived in ASU-NARO's orphanages until she was 13, when the organization as a whole decided to adopt her because of her maturity (she has an "adult-like personality") and possible usefulness. in the death game, she is disguised as hinako mishuku, one of the dummies, and is the only dummy who is a real human.

she secretly doesn't care much for ASU-NARO, and was a bit disappointed when she was adopted by an organization rather than a real family. she pretends to not care about the other three, but it's a sort of unspoken understanding that it's a facade. she's the baby of the family and they love her and she loves them. she has a sort of april ludgate vibe.

Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School Review!

Hello, everyone! It was probably long overdue for someone who posts so much in this fandom, but here's my review for Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak Academy!

Well... where to start, right? I mean, there's much to be said, so let's begin by introducing DR3. By the way, if you read this review, I'll assume you've played the first two games in the series, as well as the spin-off. The anime won't be spoiled, but these games will be.

Now, this anime is split into two arcs: Future Arc and Despair Arc. The former takes place right after the events of Goodbye Despair, while the second takes place before Trigger Happy Havoc. They're twelve and eleven episodes long, respectively.

Of course, this is Danganronpa, so you'll be dealing with a mix of high-stakes game, horror, psychology, but with a touch of comedy (and even some slice of life). Beware the fanservice in Despair Arc, too.

Ironically, I disagree with most people when it comes to my favorite of the two arcs. Many reviews will tell you that Despair Arc is better than Future Arc, but I personally do not agree with this. Not that I think that Despair Arc is overrated, but I believe that Future Arc (for all its flaws) is severely underrated.

Future Arc follows the surviving cast of THH, with some brand-new characters thrown into the mix. Well, you might know that I love most of the THH cast, and I really think they got a chance to shine again in this arc. I personally think Makoto's development was done well, and Kyoko is still the best girl. Hina also gets a major role and makes the best of it! The new characters aren't all amazing, but I'd say half of them are at least good. As a Naegiri shipper, this arc is also very important to me (and for more than one reason...).

This arc's main strength, in my opinion, is in its atmosphere. It feels claustrophobic at times, but not necessarily in a bad way. The tension can be felt, and honestly, the few fights out there are pretty good! They made the correct decision in changing things up from the games to make it work in anime format, and some new dynamics are honestly very interesting!

Now, it's not perfect, either. To be honest, it should have been much better, but for what it is, it's very good. The writing could have been less shaky, some plot twists made to be more predictable, and the development of a few characters could have been better. Yet, I believe this arc was more than solid.

Despair Arc focuses on the life at Hope's Peak High School of the DR2 cast. Some tidbits were revealed in the game, and the full story is detailed in this arc. It goes over how they were turned into Remnants of Despair, how AI Chiaki came to be, how Izuru Kamukura was born, how Junko took over Hope's Peak... I don't love the DR2 cast as much as the THH one, but they were written well, and the couple new characters were good. However, I cannot be angry enough at how they wrote Mukuro. Poor girl got the short end of the stick, and honestly, the way they wrote her is pretty disgusting.

This arc focuses a lot more on character dynamics. It's done relatively well, but more importantly, it makes sense (which isn't always the case in Danganronpa...). However, this side of the anime feels rushed to me, to put it kindly. It should have been twice as long to reach its full potential. Still, the story is pretty good, and if you're not made too uncomfortable by horror and fanservice, you should enjoy it.

Overall, this arc is good. As mentioned before, I don't think it's as good as Future Arc, but it does the job of telling the story it's supposed to tell. It does answer some really important questions, which is perhaps the most important part.

And we're... not done, actually! This anime has a third arc (although it's not really an arc, since it's only one episode...): Hope Arc! It basically connects both arcs (and both casts) in one grand finale. It's a pretty good ending to the Hope's Peak saga, to be honest. Not perfect by any means, but at least it concludes everything well. Some people don't really enjoy the final twist (and I personally don't like how it was written), but honestly... I'm pretty happy it happened, haha.

To summarize, this anime is good. It's not as much of an adventure as the games, but it's still more than solid, especially if you like the Danganronpa universe. The way it's designed so that you have to watch one episode of Future Arc then one of Despair Arc is honestly super clever. It shows how the overarching writing is still really good. Of course, this anime has weaknesses (which others won't fail to insist upon), but it's worth watching, especially if you're looking for some answers to the questions the games left unanswered...

Annunciata un’altra parte del cast, assieme agli interpreti delle sigle.

Pubblicato da Aniplex un secondo trailer di “BISQUE DOLL” (in originale Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo suru e internazionalmente My Dress-Up Darling), la serie animata tratta dalla commedia romantica firmata da Shinichi Fukuda, attualmente in lavorazione presso lo studio CLOVERWORKS (Horimiya, Shadows House).

In sottofondo al video è possibile ascoltare un breve estratto sia della sigla di testa "Sansan Days", ad opera del gruppo j-pop Spira Spica, sia della sigla di coda "Koi no Yukue", cantata dalla TikToker e cosplayer Akari Akase. 

Assieme al promo è stata svelata anche una nuova locandina della serie, che inizierà ad essere trasmessa sulle televisioni giapponesi a partire dall’8 gennaio 2022.

Wakana Gojou è un liceale, molto introverso e timido, che evita di aprirsi ai suoi coetanei per paura che scoprano la sua passione per le bambole giapponesi e la sua incredibile bravura nella sartoria. Un giorno però la sua maestria con ago e filo viene scoperta da Kitagawa, una bellissima e socievole gyaru con una passione altrettanto insospettabile: il cosplay! Nasce così un'amicizia atipica, creativa e molto… movimentata!

Il character design e la supervisione del comparto animazini sono invece affidati a Kazumasa Ishida (direttore d’animazione in Kiznaiver e Saekano the Movie: Finale). Infine, le musiche per la colonna sonora sono composte da Takeshi Nakatsuka (Magical Girl Ore, Brothers Conflict).

The boy is fine. He just has some light bruises and a damaged nerve in his neck, but...that should heal.

The girl is in a much worse state, but...her condition has stabilized. Luckily, I’ve got just the thing for her.

*Four pulls a bottle of liquid out from her bag and places it down on the table next to the bed where Kaede lies.

Believe it or not, rub this one her arm, and it’ll heal in no time. It won’t even leave any scars.

Just...put a cast on it while it’s healing.

*Kyoko leaves the injured to Four and goes back over to the others, who surround Maya, trying to comfort her.

Shuichi, Kaede and I encountered, Kuripa, Maya and Agent 404 in a factory. They were trying to download some information for their plan to assassinate Zen Katagiri. As soon as Kaede heard that, she snatched the hard drive that they were downloading the information into. This led to an altercation, and...then this.

Kuripa chose to not hold back

*Komaru stands up.

Kuripa Kurafto is a MONSTER, and we are all in grave danger.

I love Maya more than I could ever fear anyone in the world. We need to remove ourselves from this situation before she becomes even more mentally damaged.

mmmsjyxd i do not like chiaki at all... she is honestly the only character i hate in danganronpa ngl, and i dont understand the hype, i tired to see what people saw in her but i just cant get into nanami-love-train. in the game she is quite boring and like people really love to say that maki's "do you wanna die?" or nekomaru shit jokes are annoying and repetitive but are we gonna talk about how many times chiaki finished her sentence with "...i think.."??? also yea she is useful in class trials but not in a fun way? like a lot of characters accuse or say incorrect stuff during discussions but that just makes it more organic, or maybe there are characters who help you understand during the class trial, teasing to the correct answer but never out right saying It until the player gets it. and that's great! but chiaki dose none of that, from what i have seen. she looks like one of those tips that you click on and help you on those iq apps (idk if that made sense) a lot of people say "well she is an ai! she dosent have to have personality!!" ...monomi Is an ai too? and has a personality? junko in sdr2 is an ai too and hAS A PERSONALITY!! WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE ON. DID WE PLAY ALL HE SAME GAME?? the fact that chiaki dosent have a personality its because even when she was alive she didnt have one, in the anime she is just more sAsSy (she is not at all but ok) also it dosent make sense how everyone missed her and idolized her in the anime??? she legit did nothing. she dosent even have a backstory wich is just??? what??? like no hard feelings people who like chiaki but why. there are a few more things i would say but i dont really have the energy RN.

like i said before i despise chiaki and what i maybe despise even more Is hina/nami.

like excluding the fact that i am a firm beliver that hajime dosent have even an ounce of attraction to women, its just. so random, their in game relationship dosent make sense not only because well uh duh, she is an ai, but also bc they kind of... didnt care for eachother until chapter four/five-ish?? like yea they tolerated eachother but there isnt a real development to their relationship, just at a certian point, randomly, they are love interests?? for why and for what. the anime really shoved them down my and everyones troath and It was SO ANNOYING. it taked so much screentime away for actual good plot points, also when izuru cried for her i laughed and cringed at the same time.

but being a little more serious i dont think their relationship would last long, i dont think they could ever understand eachother, the romantic interactions they had did not feel genuine, and like being more superficial now but WHERE IS THE FLAVOR, WHAT IS THE DYNAMIC. Mastermind! Chihiro Fujisaki - The Sixth Trial

This wasn’t exactly an old request, just a suggestion to write whatever I felt like. And I love mastermind AUs so fucking much, please, flood my inbox asking about them, I just wanna talk about our lord and savior mastermind chihiro - Mod Akane

“And that would mean..” Makoto begins, the realization striking him as he turns to Chihiro, staring fearfully back at him. “Y-You’re the mastermind, Chihiro!” 

There’s doubt in his voice. He doesn’t want to believe it. His friend, who’d opened up to him, who shares his deepest secrets, in his most vulnerable state… he’d orchestrated all of this? From the outside, he looked like he would burst into tears if he killed a bee. Suppose that’s the trick behind it…

“C-Chihiro..? I-It was you..?” Asahina stutters, looking at him horrified.

“I-I-” Chihiro begins to stutter. He looks like he’s on the verge of bursting into tears. No one in the courtroom believes this claim, how could they? But the evidence was stacked against him.. 

It’s before anyone can argue that Chihiro snaps into an entirely new persona, and the tears are gone. “Yep! That’s me! I’m the mastermind!” 

Everyone takes a step back. Chihiro’s face contorted in a way no one had ever imagined. In an instant, his entire personality changed. His tears evaporated into thin air and despair seemed to wash over his face, seeping down to his very core as his eyes lost all sign of true emotion.

“Gosh, you’re so smart, Makoto!” Chihiro says, clapping his hands like a child. “I can’t believe you found me out!” 

“No. There’s simply no way this is possible.” Byakuya interrupts, crossing his arms. “Chihiro, stop playing games. There’s no way you are the mastermind.”

“Oh no, I really am!” Chihiro smiles. With a snap of his fingers, Monokuma shut down, almost like he was playing dead where he stood on the ground. Chihiro left his podium and approached the robot, standing next to it and humming while he examined it.

..And then, in a sudden instant, he slammed his foot into the robot, kicking it as hard as he could. Monokuma flew into a distant wall, shattering into a million black and white pieces as Chihiro didn’t even blink. Everyone in the courtroom drew back, even Byakuya and Kirigri, unable to hide their shock.

“H-Holy shit!” Yashuiro screams in fear as Chihiro turns back towards the circle of survivors. The room begins to fill with smoke, making most people cough and wave it away from their faces. In a second, it clears, revealing Chihiro in a new outfit, with a Monokuma-esq color palette to boot.

“Da-dun-dun! That’s right, the mastermind all along was Chihiro Fujisaki!” He smiles wildly, throwing his arms out in a grand gesture. Standing between Asahina and Yashuiro at his new podium, he seems so small, but he’s so.. Terrifying. The sudden switch in personalities shook everyone to the very core.

“This doesn’t make sense..” Kirigiri mutters. “How could you control Monokuma and almost never leave our sight?” 

Chihiro backs up until he’s sat on top of the ‘throne’ Monokuma used to always sit on top of. He crosses his legs and leans back, getting comfortable in his seat above everyone else. “Pfffffffft! He’s an AI, come on Kirigiri, aren’t you smarter than this?” Chihiro mocks Kirigiri. “I’ve been living under your noses as the Ultimate Programmer, Monokuma wasn’t even my best work!” 

“That doesn’t make sense. His movements and conversations with us.. They’re nothing like any AI I’ve ever seen.” Byakuya argues.

“Clean your glasses, Byakuya! Didn’t you see Alter Ego?” Chihiro poses the question as he sits up and leans over the arm of his chair towards Byakuya. “They’re all easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy!~ I’ve got an iron grip on the technology production from here to Towa City!”

“Speaking of Alter Ego..” Kirgiri interrupts, halting Byakuya’s personal slander. “What was the point of presenting him to us?” 

Chihiro lets out a giggle. “Yeaah, Alter Ego was a bit of a mistake on my part! You weren’t supposed to find it. But since you did I thought it wouldn’t hurt to spin you in the wrong direction a bit!” 

“And his execution?”

“Oh, that was Monokuma’s decision! Spur of the moment thing. I didn’t really mind, it was collateral damage!” Chihiro shrugs. “Collateral damage.. Kinda like Mondo and Kiyotaka!” He smiles, and as he watches everyone in the room come to a full stop before looking at Chihiro with disgust.

“C-Collateral d-damage..?” Makoto stutters. “T-Those were our friends, Chihiro! What the.. What the hell!? They were your friends!”

“Huh, were they?” Chihiro asks sarcastically, tapping a finger to his chin. “Huh. If they were, I just used them!” 

“Y-You what…?” Asahina stutters.

“I used them! I mean, Mondo and Taka were like a package deal! I needed Mondo to make me stronger, and Taka only played by my rules! Let me tell you, it was s-”

“S-Shut up!” Makoto interrupts Chihiro, who perks up, interested in his sudden boldness. “W-We still need to talk about what happened in the last trial!”

“Oooh, you mean where I killed Sakura and framed Toko ‘cus I got bored? What’s there to talk about?” Chihiro asks, excited. “...Aha, did I let that slip?” 

“R-Repeat that.” Asahina suddenly becomes cold, her fists balled tight at her sides. 

“I’m sure you heard me, Asahina!” Chihiro smiles, standing from his throne and once again approaching the podium. “I killed Sakua and framed Toko!”

Asahina begins to breathe heavy, doing  everything in her power to contain her anger as Chihiro continues to talk. “I mean, really, do you think Toko could actually kill Sakura? I don’t even think her wacky double-personality could’ve taken her down! So I worked a bit of magic, aaand..!”

“SHUT THE HELL UP!” Asahina screams, slamming her hands on her podium. “Y-You- You bastard! What the fuck is wrong with you Chihiro?!” She screams, turning and grabbing him by the collar, dragging him close to her face, so close that his feet barely grazed the ground. “I- You fucking killed her! Y-You killed Sakura! I-I- I loved her, you...you..!”

Chihiro doesn’t even look phased as Asahina spits venom in his face. “Hey, Hina! You remember what happened to Junko? Right?” He grins sadistically as the fear begins to strike Asahina, who drops him and takes a step back. 

There’s a familiar whirring noise, and out of nowhere there's a spear that shoots from the middle of the room towards Asahina, almost identical to what happened to Junko. Asahina flinches and draws back violently, forcing the spear to only grace her cheek before slamming into the wall behind her. She opens her eyes, breathing heavy with fear as she held her hand to her cheek. “O-Oh my god..”  

“Gah, I missed!” Chihiro pouts. “I need to get better at shooting games.” 

“G-Games?! Y-You could’ve killed me!” Asahina yells, still holding a hand to her cheek. 

“That’s the fun in it!” Chihiro grins. Once upon a time, this was a wide, innocent grin. Now, it was nothing but evil. Full of despair and agony. And that’s probably exactly what Chihiro wanted. 

Makoto could only wonder- what could possibly push this poor boy to the breaking point..?

If you looked close enough, the answer was laid out in plain sight. 

“Well!” Chihiro claps his hands. “What is there to talk about now? Surely the trial won’t come to a close so easily!” Chihiro scans the room, taking in every facial expression of pure disgust and pain around him. 

“Why..? Why did you do all this?” Makoto asks, basically gripping his podium for dear life. He couldn’t just take all of this in easily. One of his best friends, through this entire hellhole, a person he’d protected with his fucking life and would follow into battle blindly… he was the mastermind? Chihiro, a boy who no one would suspect, he was pulling the strings, he’d orchestrated every death, he’d warped Hope’s Peak into a place of despair..? 

He recalls the moment in the bathhouse when he told Kirigiri: “I’d follow you into battle if I had to!” 

And her response.. “Not such a wise choice, is it?”

Chihiro’s face falls. “Do you know what it’s like, Makoto..?” His tone changes, it’s low and unlike anything anyone had heard from Chihiro before. “To be bullied, every single day, pummeled into the fucking dirt?!” Despair overwhelms his entire face, but he starts to laugh.. “Every.. Goddamn day! Until the point where you.. Hahaa.. You’ve gotta change your whole identity, just to be safe!”  

“Chihiro.. I-” Yasuhiro looks like he’s about to set a hand on his shoulder. Forgetting for just a moment that this was a boy who’d killed his friends, and possibly even thousands, just remembering that once upon a time they were friends.  

Chihiro smacks his hand away with alarming strength, still laughing all as tears gather in his eyes. “NO!” He screams, almost like it was a reflex. “I don’t need.. Ahahaha.. I don’t need anyone’s help anymore! That despair..it only.. It only made me stronger! AhahaAHAHAHA! A-And I- I’ve basked this entire world in despair!” Chihiro hugs himself, breaking into boisterous, manic laughter. 

“What do you mean, the entire world?” Byakuya asks, seemingly unphased by Chihiro’s manic breakdown. Of course, Byakuya wasn’t ever ‘friends’ with the boy… though part of him couldn’t help but reflect on the.. Choice words he’d used against him before. 

Chihiro doesn’t even stop laughing. “Oh, ah..ahaha! I forgot all about that! While you were all locked up in here, the entire world has plunged into despair!” He claps his hands twice, before throwing his arms out wide, gesturing towards the monitors on every corner of the room. The monitors flicker, then turn on, showing a repeating news broadcast.

The broadcast was simple, a repetitive broadcast of a red sky overtop of war and destruction, all with the face of Monokuma plastered all over.  It shakes everyone in the room to the core, except for Chihiro, who gleefully watches his handiwork as he wipes his tears away. “Isn’t it lovely!? Everything destroyed.. Right down to your very bloodlines!”

“No. I simply won’t believe this.” Byakuya starts again. “This is foolish. A highschool boy couldn’t just take down the world.”

“Ahaha, I didn’t work alone, silly Byakuya!” Chihiro grins. “Despair spreads like a plague! And that plague even took down your precious Togami family!” 

“Wh-What..?” Fear seems to take over  Byakuya, if only for a split second. “Th-The Togami family doesn’t just lay down and die! Who the hell backs you!?”

Chihiro laughs. “Despair, dummy! How many times do I gotta repeat myself!?” The words send Byakuya down a spiral, even without evidence.. The very thought shook him to the core.

“H-Hey!” Makoto argues. “This can’t be true! Last I remember, the world was just fine! We’ve been here a month, tops, there’s no way you could’ve done this in all that time!” 

“Weren’t we already over this?” Chihiro asks. “You lost your memories! If I whack ya hard enough, you might get ‘em back! But we’ve all been cooped up, shielded from the outside world! And now you’ve spent your days trying to crawl out of this home we all built together! Isn’t that just a tad hypocritical?” 

“W-Wait, you mean..?” Asahina catches what Chihiro means first- the world had crumbled, and they’d all been here for two years, and then they… 

“W-What was the point of all of this!?” Makoto asks, cutting off any other thought processes about how they’d been gone for two whole years. 

“Huh? Well, I kept you alive, hijacked the airwaves, and displayed you murdering each other for the world to see because I wanted to spread despair to the last dying shreds of hope in the world!” Chihiro explains casually. “I mean, I’ve laid this all out in plain sight for you.” 

“W-” Byakuya begins to speak.

Chihiro interrupts. “Yeah, yeah, be quiet, we’ve had enough of you. Now!” He claps his hands together, excited. “Since this is a trial, I give you one last vote. You can vote for despair- vote to give me the punishment I deserve- or, vote for hope, and stay here for the rest of your golden days!”

“L-Let me get this straight..” Asahina starts. “If we just vote for hope, none of us die..?” 

Chihiro hums. “Well, I suppose, but.. That doesn’t sound as fun! So how about this: vote for hope, and I’ll only execute one of you! The rest of you get to live out the rest of your lives with moi.” He folds his hands under his chin, in an oh-so familiar way. Was he mocking Celeste..? 

“W-Who’ll get executed..?” Yasuhiro stutters.

“Hm..” Chihiro hums as he looks around the room. He starts pointing from person to person. “Eenie.. Meanie… minie… you!” He lands on Makoto, who exhibits a fearful look in return.

“Y-You’ll execute me…?” Makoto stutters, fearful. Somewhere inside him, this felt familiar. 

“Well of course! You seem to be the obvious answer.” Chihiro smiles gleefully, as if he didn’t just imply that with ease he would slaughter his friend. “Why, you used to be my closest friend! You.. were the first person I trusted! What better despair than for you to die at my own hands?” 

Makoto takes a deep breath as he turns to his friends, full of despair and pain. Their hands hovering over their levers, obvious that they would seem.. Almost willing to put Makoto’s life on the line. He looks back at Chihiro, with a devilish grin paired with despair-filled eyes. He starts to laugh, like a loud symphony, bouncing off the walls and into everyone’s ears in an inescapable manner. He laughs so hard he almost starts crying once more, laughing so much it hurt.

Laughing like someone who’d been torn up inside and out and loved every fucking minute of it.
