Alright! So… I wanted to start up a new Tumblr blog. Sorta looks like this place is gaining more traffic, especially since Twitter is going tits up what with Elongated Muskrat implementing ridiculous rules, like that whole post view limit for unverified users and verified users and all that jazz?

BlueSky had to take a pause on sending out those invite emails for early access, PillowFort is trying to step up and make their own app and Instagram is… I believe doing a copycat of Twitter?

COMMUNITY EVENT

THE DEATH OF DEOXYS

Deoxys crumbled to the ground-- the strike so loud, so loathing that it shook the very foundations of the little home. Sprawled like a limp puppet, Deoxys had to come to terms that the day had finally arrived like he always dreaded. He couldn’t run anymore. 

Dioxys stood above him, fists tightened so harshly that, had he normal skin, it would have torn from the sheer force. Despite the fact that Deo had answered correctly.. and truthfully.., the answer ended his calm demeanor. The rage he tried to let simmer bubbled out of him as his Psychic Well vibrated the ground around the duo. How dare Deoxys. 

“It’s funny, don’t you think?” Dioxys started as he took several steps toward the prone virus, “If your friends were to stumble upon me.., they would think me a monster. Who would dare hurt the small alien? What wrong had he ever done? Deo only ever helped people, didn’t he?” Dioxys asked mockingly, “If our tale was read from any other perspective, you would be the monster. Not me.”

Above the prone alien, Dioxys raised his foot and brought it down with an impact that shattered the ground below Deoxys-- though his shell managed to hold together against the stomp. Dioxys scoffed. “Yet, you left me behind those empty walls.” The intruder twitched. His emotions came to the forefront. 

With a step back, Dioxys issued a command:

Deoxys laid there in this puddle of nightmares. He deserved this. He didn’t fight back, and he accepted this. Deoxys knew it was the right thing to do.

Dioxys, however, was uncontent. The damage was superficial. He had hoped physically hurting Deo would have made him feel better, but it only caused him to get more upset. “Why, Deo? WHY?” The intruder screamed before landing a kick that sent the orange virus across the room. 

With a crash through the wall, Deoxys crumpled into the next room over. He was so disorientated that he wasn’t even sure which room it was. 

“I..,” Dioxys stepped into the new room, fists rested by his sides, “Why do you continue this? Why do you do this to me, Deo? You won’t let me rest-- you won’t let me exist. You haunt my nightmares, and you get to be happy? Make it make sense, Deo.” Deoxys glanced up, and he saw that the intruder stood above him with a gaze down. Deoxys looked away. “I don’t know what to say, D’.”

“No, you sure don’t,” Dioxys said with a sigh as he kneeled down into a squat, “Listen.., I think there’s only one way to truly go about this. After everything you’ve done.., you owe me this. Finish this for me. Destroy your own orb,” he said lowly, “Die, Deo. Do that for me.”

This is a vent post.

I saw this post about wanting to bring back the energy and vibes and community that was in the 2016 era of the UTMV community. And at first I was elated. I joined the fandom in 2017 and I look back fondly on the community I found myself in. Lots of fanfic comments. Lots of RP Roleplays. Lots of Askblog activity and in-character answers and all these wonderful things.

Yes, there were toxic and mean things too. There always are. But I never really found myself in any of it. I only remember the fun and the joy.

And I initially reblogged that post excitedly responding to it. And I went to the blog to see if they posted anything else good.

And I saw their DNI. "Proship DNI".

Their pinned post literally said to me "hey disclaimer just so you know 'i dont support harassment', but if you (also) dont support harassment, if you enjoy shipping, if you think censorship is bad, then don't talk to me because I think youre a terrible person and deserve being harassed."

And they wonder why the 2016 era of UTMV died.

I would have loved to interact. I would have loved to gush about AUs and fanworks and art. But that person left a big sign saying they think I deserve hate for enjoying fiction and that they dont want to talk to me.

Like. Bro. That is kinda the reason youre not getting 2016 UTMV back. You dont wanna associate with "nasty proship" people. Who uh. sorta made UTMV. UTMV (and lets face it, fandom in general) was built on the backs of Proshippers. (although that is sort of an anachronistic statement -- the idea of "proshipping" is new because it was the default, expected political stance. it wasnt "proship vs anti", it was "everyone (aka proship) vs trolls and haters (aka anti)") Then a bunch of haters started being nasty to frans and papyra and fontcest shippers, and puritanical rhetoric ripped apart what was left of the fandom after art theft and the tumblr purge drove the artists away.

The fandom isnt going to knit itself back together unless we foster a community mindset, which we can only do if we all agree to ship-and-let-ship. Block and mute tags you dont like, learn to recognize when an AU isnt for you, and dont play in tags you dont actually like.

But like, just because I like the color Green doesnt mean I cant appreciate Blue or Red. You can hate Green all you want but alienating Green likers is just going to make it harder to live in a society where nobody is making you like Green.

I dunno I just feel like its not fair to ask for a community effort and simultaneously condemn the very people who would have been part of your community for not being good enough for you. It's mean spirited. It's rude. It's cruel.

I want 2017 UTMV back. I would be more than happy to get to see 2016 UTMV with my own eyes. But it isnt coming back, because it takes people to make a community and nobody wants to make a community welcoming and safe.

this was formerly a sort of all-purpose OC blog for ask games, reposts, the like, however I've since repurposed it as an askblog for specifically my RW OCs! im going to choose to ignore the image you sent with this . anyway I'm just gonna put a bunch of thoughts I have about it here because they make me ill and upset (also I have an askblog for this au [@kitch3nsink])

-Vince and Rody's relationship in this au is sooooo fucked up . They absolutely hate eachother . They kill and hurt eachother . They hate themselves . They like eachother . Love even . They talk to each other a lot . They care about each other . They're stuck with eachother . They have nobody else . Who are they supposed to talk to? Anyone else will forget at the end of the week when everything resets . What's the point of doing anything when there's no end result ? The only thing they have to be careful with is their conversations , and most of the time they couldn't give less of a shit . They argue and always come back because what else are they supposed to do . It's scary and terrible but fantastic at the same time they're so bad for eachother . It's kind of like New Darling by Maretu except they hate eachother a lot sometimes

-Keep thinking of this one scene that I want to write eventually (<- maybe . don't hold me to that) that would take place in an earlier loop where Rody has a massive breakdown in Vince's bedroom after the dinner party where he asks if Vince could like . not kill Manon somehow so she could be alive this time . Vince says no because he killed her before all of this started . They end up arguing because Rody isn't doing so good and thinks that Vince is lying about it . Ends up saying smth like "I wish she were here instead of you" . That fucks Vince up and they don't talk for a bit but eventually come back to eachother because human longing for relationships etc but Rody never apologizes for it which causes problems

-The loop resets at the end of the week OR if one of them dies, just whichever once comes first so hypothetically one of them could just be vibing and then suddenly everything restarts and they have something to talk about . Totally don't have a couple scenarios planned out for this occourance . Anyway the first time it happens Rody's confused as hell because it wasn't the end of the week yet and Vince pretends to not know anything but is acting weird which causes you guessed it : ✨️problems✨��� ! And then the next time it happens Vince is the one who gets randomly resetted on and nothing has to be said

Marcus: Well, now that the mood is lightened, I'll describe what we're doing here. You see, Umbreon, Espeon, and Keldeo were fiddling around with some Magnagate stuff with the help of Hoopa, and by combining Entercards with a hoop portal, they were able to peek at a world without Pokemon. That's still the strangest thing to me. Even in the so-called human world, we still had Pokemon; they just weren't dominant like they are here.

Solace: The researchers...decided to establish communication with this...weird world, and since all four of us were once humans, we were volunteered to be the ones to communicate. I don't completely understand...this "tumblr" thing, but I think there's a way for you to ask us questions, and so we'll do our best to reply...and tell you about our world.

Céline: You can ask our friends questions too, if you want, but they probably won't be as active here as we are.

Aster: Now, I suppose we should introduce ourselves! The four of us are known to the Pokemon world as the Four Human Heroes, because we were all humans that were turned into Pokemon, and we all saved the world. I'm Aster, and I'm originally from the human world, specifically the Hoenn region, which is the best one. I'm also dead! Well, I died as a human, that is. Then my spirit became a Skitty, I met my partner, Charizard — well, he was Charmander then — and we got Rayquaza to blow up an incoming meteor that was causing all sorts of natural disasters. Not sure how a meteor can cause forest fires, but whatever.

Solace: I...am Solace, hailing from a future that didn't come. After an...accident — actually an attack — while crossing time, I was turned into a Cyndaquil. I joined Treecko, who's now called Sceptile, to form an exploration team, and together, we put the Time Gears into Temporal Tower...and stopped the planet's paralysis before it could begin.

Marcus: I'm Marcus! Unlike the other two, I can visit the human world whenever I want, and I can remember my past with perfect clarity. I'm from Unova, and I was selected by the Voice of Life to become an Axew, destroy the Bittercold, and save the Pokemon world. I couldn't have gotten this far without my partner, Dewott, and all my teammates back in Pokemon Paradise.

Céline: I'm Céline, and I lived in Kalos a long, long time ago. I was summoned to the Pokemon world to fight Dark Matter, but while Mew and I managed to destroy its physical form, we knew it would come back one day. In the present day, I came back as a young Chikorita, and Mew was reincarnated as my best friend Fennekin! This time, we managed to defeat Dark Matter for good — not by destroying it, but by accepting it. As of now, Fennekin and I are still working hard in the Expedition Society — much better than having to go to school!

Gengar: Kekeke! I'm here too!

Aster: Nobody invited you, Gengar.

having thoughts of my new guy so take info on cliff before i inevitably make him an askblog.... bullet points for formatting because i know my rants tend to be clumped :3

first of all; his full name is cliffton myers

gen 1 phoney, hes roughly 50-60 years old (in other words i dont wanna pick an exact age yet)

his spine was almost completely crushed in his springlock failure, it had to be replaced with metal to keep him functioning when he was turned into a phone guy

his tail is also rather thick and heavy, its a bit of a pain for him to deal with sometimes and he prefers to keep it dragging behind him

in actual terms of being a gen 1 phone, hes about as bad as steven and harry (meaning he remembers nothing from his past life, let alone his own name)

his past was a good one before he was killed, he was great with kids and was even a teacher before he worked at fazbenders

hes incredibly patient and even that persisted through his coding, which makes him a bit more laidback than other gen 1s

he had a wife and daughter of his own before he was killed, his wife now lives by herself and his daughter is now a fully grown adult with her own family

he knows theres something missing in his memory, hes seen the company files about how gen 1s are coded to not remember who they were before they died and hes well aware thats the case with himself

he has a very slight southern accent that shines through with certain words, but he talks more proper than folksy

I don't know what an Alpha is, but it sounds powerful, and you seem leagues taller than me so, Aura wants to go dance, and after Cyrus finishes that mask for you, he'll probably go dancing with Atzin. 2. AH. REMNANT AKANE. She is 100% the most badly treaten/written by the fandom and it never stops being disappointing tbh. Both her canon and fanon portrayal are sexist and racist respectively, and it's tiring to see so little interesting ideas for her. Even ignoring the shitty implications of making Akane a beast/treated like a beast, it doesn't make sense for her character???

When I'm writing/coming up with remnant ideas, the two big questions for me are: 'How happy are they?' And: 'What is causing them despair here?" Because to me, the point of the remnants is creating despair-- both for themselves and for the world. This means corrupting their own pleasures, hurting themselves in the worst ways imaginable, and usually hurting others too. For example, Ibuki cutting out her vocal cords because she gets so much joy from singing and talking, or Gundham killing animals because he cares so much about them.

But uh. Since when has Akane had any sort of struggle about being called/treated like a beast??? Why would this bring her despair? Akane doesn't really give a fuck about what others think of her, and she'd be far more hurt by being weak than being a beast. If anything, Nekomaru, Sonia or Gundham all make more sense for that sort of role, since Nekomaru would be using his strength to hurt instead of help, Sonia would be devolving from her role as the perfect princess, and Gundham is the one heavily associated with animals.

I do agree with the very popular fanon concept that remnant Akane has severe problems with food-- since that's supported both by canon specifying one of the remnants starved themself, and her primary joy/fear in life being tied to food. Her limiting her own food in one way or another makes sense for her character. I also think her being a fighter does have evidence as well-- (even ignoring the anime which i hate)-- since she is one of the most battle hungry classmates, and challenges her enemy (Monokuma) to a fight in the game.

However, I also think you could make her NOT a fighter for this same reason, since not getting to fight the 'enemy' would cause her despair, and make her feel weak. Honestly I think food, weakness and strength are the concepts people should be exploring for remnant Akane, with maybe a bit of denying herself things for flavor. This opens up a surprising amount of possibilities for remnant Akane ideas! For example:

Akane could simply starve herself, she could have bulimia--(you can taste the food but you can't keep it), weigh herself down a la Rock Lee, chain herself to someone else as dead weight (see my fic lol), hurt people she's meant to be protecting (siblings, nekomaru, etc), prioritize another's survival over her own (maybe someone she dislikes for extra flavor. servant's new bodyguard!), remove at least one arm or leg to fuck up movement, blind herself so she can't as easily defend herself, force herself to take gymnastics more seriously than anything else, give others food but deny it to herself (like working at TT's restaurent wheeee), cut out her tongue so she can't taste anything, let Mikan hook her up to an IV to eat instead of food---

Basically the list of possibilities go on and on lmao. And wow!! Being treated like a beast or becoming a beast isn't even a factor!! Wild how that works!! Anyway this isn't even mentioning the remnant Akane I write on my askblog, who has gone through several writing revisions in my head as time went on. When I answer more asks with her eventually, there's gonna be different vibes lol, cause I've decided she's one of the more unhappy remnants.

To quote my other Akane remnant post, after Junko dies and Akane realises she's distraught because of how attached she got to Junko: "Akane becomes determined to never get attached or become weak again, and stops eating. She avoids Nekomaru out of repressed guilt on how badly she's treating her body. She also kills a lot of people she used to care about as a way of cutting ties Whoops." To elaborate, I think she killed most of her siblings, and then basically decided to isolate herself and slowly wither away from starvation-- (though she would refuse to admit this is a suicidal urge, and would instead say she's just trying to prove her mental and physical strength)

This is when she stumbles upon Teruteru in the alley of his brand new restaurant, and strikes a deal with him. She'll work with him temporarily in order to cause herself more of a struggle-- surrounded by food she refuses to eat, in exchange for helping him run his restaurant. This does end up kick-starting a friendship though, as both of them do some epic projecting. Honestly this is reminding me I need to brainstorm more stuff about their early remnant dynamic lmao. Cue her working at his restaurant, slowly starving to death!

Anyway TL/DR, I think beast Akane is super weird and gross as a concept, and has basically no thought put into it. If I had to rank remnants who make sense for that role she is WAY further down on the list than people seem to think. I also think food, strength/weakness and survival are the concepts people should be focused on playing with, as well as her relationships to those she cares about.

God, I look away from this blog for *five seconds* and suddenly three different arcs have started, two more have finished, and I'm completely lost. What's going on? I think I need a recap.

(( Ok, this is a better resume for the new people and the ones that need some help.

Arcs that just finished but still important to the plot:

Manny's return: first arc. Steve (Key Man) brings Manny back from Clayhill. He's been missing for 2 days after the production of the series. Roy is angry with him and says that Manny wasn't his son anymore

A Big Realization: Roy finds out what happened during the production and what Tony did to Manny. He gets angry with all of them and now he starts taking care of his son. After that, Tony started to not answer as he used to.

First Happy Christmas: Manny has a new friend (Ben) and they share their first Christmas. Roy invites two old talking objects that used to live with the family (Penny and Tori). At the end of the day, Roy receives an email from an unknowed person but he actually knows who is.

Arc that is important for now:

Shrignold's lost: Shrig and Larry broke up after a fight in Valentine's day, Malcolm died and he is starting to have hearing problems (probably becoming deaf soon).

Colin's Valentine: Colin is in love, what do you want me to say lol.

Richard and Roy: Introducing Richard.

Crowns and Revelations

There's a small story I came up with in 2021 and was even planning on illustrating the whole thing, but it lacks details world-wise so I'm dumping it now as it is. It revolves around the AU where Klogg was sentenced to living on the Pin Island (check out my askblog posts that are based on the same idea!) and involves several of my OCs, one of them driving the whole plot. The whole idea was more of a character development process, not something lore-filled, so yeah that's what to expect here.

This post contains info about the story and the characters involved, as well as some illustrations - only 10 per post, sadly, because I have much more. Well. Let's dive in!

OCs

Keep in mind that this story only includes OCs created by me, so stuff like 'this detail is unique for him' takes place cuz it's unique among my characters, so on - the fandom is so vast and creative on OCs behalf, nothing is truly unique nowadays.

Maleeh and Shuffle (far left, left) were created next to each other and are almost complete opposites; while Maleeh is mostly a normal Neverhoodian (a cheerful easygoing pal just eager to have fun), Shuffle acts unnaturally serious all thanks to the shoulder patches he got upon creation. He considers them a sign from above that he needs to stay by Hoborg's side all the time and provide any support he requires - all because he's the only Hoodian with the patches detail. He's distant compared to other Neverhoodians but he's mostly neutral or positive towards them, although not really invested in the whole 'having fun' thing; the only Hoodian he really loathes is Klogg - cuz Hoborg hasn't given up on him but in Shuffle's opinion it's just a waste of time and mental stability. Sly (middle) is also supposed to be a part of this OC trio but he comes from Maleeh's side, and Maleeh does his best to ensure Sly doesn't hinder Shuffle's progress anyhow; Sly is the 'little seed' cuz he was the last one to be created and his seed had the least Klay left - so he's a bit smaller than other Hoodians.

Alto and Glenn (right and far right) played a lesser but also important role in the plot; Glenn is the local equivalent of Da Vinci with his insane inventions that are impossible to recreate in Neverhood but that doesn't stop him from trying. And Alto is the Hoodian that was created after him and is just happy to vibe along, though he doesn't really understand Glenn's complicated talk.

Plot summary

It's been four years since Neverhood was successfully populated and Klogg got sentenced to living on the Pin Island. Throughout all those years he'd been visited every other day by Hoodians, sometimes Willie Trombone and even Hoborg himself, bringing food, news and stuff to occupy himself with. Hoborg's tactics consisted of tryng to teach Klogg what he'd missed thus fixing his mistake of giving an uneducated child freedom of will; it sort of works because Klogg's attitude dies down a bit, changing towards a rather passively waiting one. He's still a power-seeking little misbehaving shit tbh but at least he had a lot of time to process his wishes and environment - now he's waiting for a second chance to gain what he deserves. Nevertheless Hoborg is happy with the progress they've made.

Slowly but steadily, they even come to an understanding with Hoborg to a point of the latter no longer leaving his crown to a trustee upon visiting the Island (or giving it to Shuffle who often accompanied him). It came so far that in a talk that once occured, Hoborg even admitted that if he ever had to leave his crown to someone permanently (in case he dies or suffers grave injuries anyhow, which is unlikely in the Neverhood but still possible, right?) - he'd choose Klogg as a successor. After both Shuffle and Klogg recovered from shock dealt by these words, he explained that he'd like the crown owner to be a creator and most Hoodians are not - except for maybe Glenn but they've discussed it and he refused.

The topic died quickly but, as you'd expect, Klogg wouldn't forget something as loud as this promise, and it resurfaced a while later when Hoborg decided to take another trip for the Klay mountain (yay Hall of Records lore). This time he decides to take a companion along and Shuffle eagerly agrees - there's nothing else for him to do, anyway. Klogg is rightfully unhappy about this idea cuz the crown he was promised is leaving somewhere for unknown period of time, but there's little he can do anyway. So the duo leaves, and the Neverhood is peaceful again for another four whole years... until Klogg wakes up one day in cold sweat, sensing clearly that someone else has put on the crown.

Here's also something worth mentioning - the crown headcanons:

all creatures who's ever worn the same crown can feel its presence subconsciously - like a beacon;

all creatures who's ever worn the same crown can feel it being put on by someone (but not being taken off its current owner) - it feels roughly like being thunderstruck, a sudden realization;

the creature who is the last to wear the crown can feel the intentions of someone who holds the crown at the moment; it's not really mind reading, more like a subconscious awareness, and if that other creature actually puts on the crown - it becomes closest to their mind and intentions so reading them becomes easier as well. The best example I can give from canon is Hoborg actually sensing Klogg's intention to put on the crown, not just take it away, when he stole it from the creator.

So where are we? Klogg's dead sure that the crown is no longer safe - that means something happened to Hoborg as well, and with that he tries to talk the Hoodians into letting him explore space and find their creator (and his idiot companion, too). They're not so eager to believe Klogg's words about sensing the crown's location, about him also feeling it being put on by someone else, etc etc, and the biggest red flag is him claiming that Hoborg promised him the crown himself (and there's no one to prove it cuz both witnesses are gone from the Neverhood). Some Hoodians suggest that Shuffle could be the one taking advantage of the crown, and Maleeh with Sly defend him fiercely, saying that Shuffle would rather die defending the crown and the creator rather than lay his hands on them.

Then Glenn steps in and announces he can help Klogg on this noble quest - he can assist in building a spaceship that'll bring him to final destination way faster, seeing as it's been four years since Hoborg left and he may be quite a distance away now. But Glenn puts forward a simple arrangement: he helps with the ship, and Klogg brings back their creator safe and well. That's a dangerous thing to bargain upon, but ultimately they make a deal. Despite Glenn's intentions to help build a ship, in fact he's almost finished building one - he's just letting Klogg use it once it's ready, and Klogg takes interest and actively helps finish buiding the structure; seeing how he's not weaseling out of anything and not even trying to kill anyone while being out of the Pin Island, Hoodians ultimately decide he's honest in his intentions. The only fly in the ointment is Klaymen announcing his wish to join Klogg on the ride, claiming that Hoborg wanted him to accompany Klogg if a situation like this ever happens. Sure thing, Klogg ain't happy about that, but Glenn advises him to take Klaymen along cuz they could take turns in piloting the ship and get there twice as fast, maintaining the course. For Klogg himself it's gonna feel like watching over a kid whose parents left for theatre or something because unlike Hoborg, Klaymen wasn't really trying to talk to his predecessor that much and they're still pretty much strangers to each other.

Here's where the Badly Written Lore Part kicks in! Yeah, I've only got basic thoughts about how the boys boldly went through space, the two major events occuring when they ran low on fuel and had to land on a planet. During their first landing, they saved the planet from a local hostile creature and when local people asked them to literally sign their sanctuary as a thanks, Klaymen agrees and Klogg later reprimands him saying 'you just gonna follow everyone's order of good will? ah yes, you did so with Hoborg and look where you are now'. Nevertheless, it gives Klay a treat in form of a ray shooting weapon which he stores in his chest for later use. And during their second landing they landed right in the middle of a military conflict; their arrival was viewed as a sign and the generals asked the aliens what should they do. Klogg sure as hell advised them to attack and they did so - and they won, making him another high general among their own, and while it was honoring and scratched the itch, Klogg wasn't planning on staying on some weird planet when there's a crown waiting for him, so one night he talked Klaymen into deserting and stealing back their ship along with some more fuel. He miscalculated the amount though and they had to throw out some fuel in order to ever take off, almost losing Klogg as well - they barely took off with him hanging off the entry hatch.

Overall the boys spend six months in travels and it helped them learn more about each other than those four years of calm and leisure. Klaymen was still a weird silent straightforward guy, not really talking much, but it was still better somehow; the most impactful conversation they've had was about Klay's intentions while holding the crown at the end of canon game (with Klogg offering him a choice). Klogg would've mentioned that, when it happened, he felt that Klaymen hesitated and didn't choose Hoborg's side at first (the third crown headcanon comes in play here). Klay answered simply that he was really heartbroken over his friend's death and wanted to put on the crown to fix it and revive him, but then he remembered that Hoborg's experience must be fuller and that he's the rightful owner of the crown after all. The very fact of Klaymen wanting to own the crown not for power, but for saving someone surprised Klogg to a certain degree.

All in all, the beacon in Klogg's head finally starts feeling heavier and clearer, and they land on a planet that is supposedly the source of crown calling. The planet looks quite similar to Neverhood but also retains some parts of the planets they've passed by and even stopped at during their journey; even local creatures look similar to Hoodians, although smaller in size and different in color. It's also that Bad At Lore Building part here, but overall the locals believe there's some creating force behind their world, although no one has ever seen it or them and some don't even believe in its/their existence. The beacon leads Klogg underground into some sort of facility, and right on the first floor an audio message greets them in a familiar voice - it's Shuffle, sounding a little battered but alive and asking to let him out of some trap he's led himself into. He explains that he doesn't remember what happened but he appears to have locked himself in for some reason, and the only way through is to solve some puzzles. Klaymen is content with that but Klogg enters his usual bickering with Shuffle, changing the overall mood very quickly.

The further they go, the worse Klogg's behavior becomes - not just because of Shuffle leading the way and helping with puzzles, it's mostly for the beacon signal getting stronger with every step. Before on the ship, he told Klaymen that wearing the crown filled some cavity inside of him, and while off the head of its current owner (if it's not Klogg himself), it itches his mind and urges him to come find it and put back on, to take it back and own it again. The closer to the crown, the more unbearable he gets; and sadly Shuffle isn't giving off good vibes as well, not answering questions and mostly telling it off as 'you'll find out soon'. So they reach the last room where Shuffle is supposed to be locked and Klogg notices how the beacon calls him downstairs, not behind the doors; they enter the room anyway and see Shuffle face away, staring into a window. Klogg calls him out on being a coward and prompts him to turn around.

Klogg is immediately enraged, realizing that those Hoodians who suggested Shuffle to be the cause of trouble were actually right; their relationship wasn't very nice to begin with and now all formalities and pretty faces are gone - Klogg engages him into a fight. To his surprise Shuffle overpowers him very quickly and drags him to the window he just stood at, holding him high above ground. Klaymen has a chance to use his hidden gun and he takes it; his choice is to either wait until Shuffle chokes Klogg to death or to shoot and give Klogg at least some chance of surviving if there's some ground under him - so he shoots. Shuffle obviously lets go of Klogg but manages to pull out a couple of small cardlike objects and hand them over to Klaymen before dying.

Soon enough, Klogg comes to his senses and climbs back up to the same room, and together with Klaymen they listen to a recording left by Shuffle - judging by his voice, he was already corrupted by that time. He's telling the whole story that happened to him and Hoborg in their travels: they've been attacked by wild beasts on this very planet and he managed to carry Hoborg away and to conceal their place deep within underground caves. Shuffle's wounds were bearable but Hoborg was very close to death and he kept trying to find any possible way to heal his creator, all to no avail - on the fifth day he returned from his searches and found Hoborg unconscious and fully unresponsive. Shuffle remembered that putting on the creator's crown on someone else was supposed to freeze him, to put him into a deep comatose-like sleep and probably stop his ongoing decay as well; he knew full well it's going to change him forever, but for Hoborg he was willing to do anything - and he did.

He was correct about 'freezing' part - it did stop Hoborg from dying, but it was also the only positive thing about putting on the crown for Shuffle. Right after it settled in, he immediately lost all other thoughts he had and seemingly 'entered a creator mode' - he transformed the whole land around them into a new world, and even created a race similar to his own. The crown made him create against his will, and it took him almost a month to come to his senses and remember why he put on the crown in the first place. So he retreated underground, sealed himself and Hoborg off and waited desperately for someone to come down and help him out of this situation. His best shot would be Klaymen because, well, that's Klaymen, he's a cool guy and strangely effective at solving problems; at the end of his speech, Shuffle apologizes again for having to live through this but also thanks the listener for putting him out of misery. Klogg listens through all this with a lot of scepticism but Klaymen seems to believe Shuffle and lets the record finish - it tells them the code to one final room downstairs, under the platform Klogg fell onto a while earlier. They enter the room together, too, and see what they've been chasing for so long already.

This crown is real, Klogg confirms, having the beacon reasonating at its fullest. They realize Shuffle was indeed not lying, that Hoborg was injured and that Shuffle never needed the crown at all - he locked it away with the creator in hopes for someone to find them; untouched by all that, Klogg simply takes the crown he 'deserved' but doesn't put it on right away - he mutters something about Shuffle's talks on how the crown made him create things against his will and that he wants to leave this planet first, maybe it's just anomalous. But before they leave the room, Klogg takes out Klaymen's blaster that he picked up earlier and shoots comatosed Hoborg without any resistance - Klay doesn't even have time to react. Klogg explains that it's the least they can do for him now; there's no way they could help their creator in this condition, and the journey for the crown is over - so be it. The last thing Klay does before leaving is to drag Shuffle's body downstairs, put it near Hoborg and to destroy the code panel for the room doors, effectively locking their bodies out forever. They don't say anything suspicious to the natives and just set the course back home, not really caring what's going to happen to this planet now.

They don't talk a lot on the way back. Both also kinda dread the moment of coming back to Neverhood because Hoodians are waiting for Hoborg to come back and certainly not for Klogg with his crown. As they see, though, him putting it on, they start resenting about how he's trampling on the bones of their creator, but what they don't expect is that the first ever thing he does as the crown owner is... to revive Shuffle of all people. Corrupted, yeah, from his latest state, but it's still him occupying the body. The second thing Klogg does is... yeah, take a wild guess - he revives Hoborg too. And this is when Klaymen realizes why exactly Klogg had to shoot their creator back there - to give him another chance at home, but still... why?

When I wrote a document about this whole thing back in April'21, I left myself a trailing off note saying 'I'll probably figure it out' and guess what, I haven't. I guess my thoughts originally were going around 'Klogg went through MORE character development and is now even less of an asshole, who could've thought'; I just like thinking that experience really gave him more to think about and to develop himself past the 'I just seek power cuz I like power' model.

There was also something headcanonish Sly's author came up with (Sly isn't my OC, he was created by @victavare, give her art some love btw) - and it's about using additional clay to change one's appearance if you're a creator (handling a crown, in this case), and Hoborg would've talked Klogg into giving Shuffle his old appearance by shaping him back to a pre-corrupted form. But yeah, that's like... post-canon or something, though still neat-o!

Finally making a pinned post for this! Anyway welcome to Sweeney Todd askblog! I created this because of my love for the musical back in 2019 so yeah, activity is based on my interest and time which can be very unpredictable.

Trigger Warnings for this blog: Mentions of Suicide and Rape. Grooming and Pedophilia. (Potential) Murder and Cannibalism.

So what is this about! Basically it's the plot of Sweeney Todd the musical: Benjamin Barker after being wrongfully imprisoned for 15 years comes back to London to the news that the man who imprisoned him drove his wife to suicide and gained custody of his daughter. He swears revenge and Mrs. Lovett his neighbor decides to help him. Hiding his identity with his new name Sweeney Todd.

However this is where you come in! You may ask the characters questions about whatever you want (though I may not answer all) and additionally you may influence the characters actions and choices to differ from their canon counterpart. This can be as small as a suggestion on what they can do or deciding whether a character lives or dies.

So the askblog will have phases! A Down time phase where I'll answer everything I can and a Plot time where the plot breaks in and the asks will be limited to what is happening. In the plot phase things will continue as canon without input, unless you've changed something fundamental in the character.
