Also even if you want to ignore the fact all cultures respect human remains in some way, like, that's a piece of potential evidence of criminal activity??? That you are withholding from law enforcement??? Regardless of your personal beliefs on how human remains should or should not be treated, random human bones you find should always be reported to authorities cause as OP *originally mentioned* if it's not super old (and unless you're an expert you will not know) then it's likely evidence of a crime. Turn that over to the police! Why would you want potentially incriminating evidence making you look like a murderer who keeps bones in your house!

He doesn't notice it at first. The way your eyes seem to follow him everywhere, and how your world narrows down to him when he walks into a room.

Those glacier blue eyes that somehow radiate the warmth of the sun, a laugh that shows pointed pearly whites, and a personality that could bring every wall down in a 10 mile radius like the very charges he plants himself (even the ones you'd built around your heart and the ones around someone else's).

Your heart races when he walks into your office and takes up the small couch like he owns the place, as if he belonged there from the start. Sometimes he leaves something of his behind, whether it be a stray hoodie or a sketch book, etc. Just for him to have a reason to come back, and you're starting to catch on. If he forgets and something of his goes missing (the black hoodie with his last name across the shoulders), he decides against questioning it. He stops disappearing after curfew and starts to stop by to fetch his things or just sit with you while catching up on paperwork (the office he spent his time in before just down the hall).

He's so easy to get along with, and on the rare occasion the 141 gets their time off, others think the same too. Stories with wild hooks and cheesy jokes mixed in, retellings of past ops and huge blasts of fire that you swore could be seen in the reflection of those pretty blue irises. A small crowd forms around him, and he looks good.

You sidle up next to him at the bar for another drink, and his arm appears around you like you're right where you belong--next to him. His head turns and it's a struggle to focus on what he's saying and not just the way his lips move around the words, the vibration of his voice you can feel as you're pressed into his side.

But he's sharp, and so are his canines that glint in the lowlight as that smile lights a fire underneath you.

What neither of you notice is the way the shadow in the corner of the room shifts minutely, trying to squash the ugly feeling in its chest as it sees you two together. Fist drawn up tight and out of view, and a hand on the empty glass at your table. It rises quiet and smooth like smoke to slip out the back once your hand dips into a pocket that is decidedly not your own.

but things start to get a little more intense, a heavy hand here, and rough grab there, til he’s manhandling you while you laugh and squeal for him to stop, slapping at his wandering hands.

then he’s got you under him, you’re both breathing a lil heavier than you were at the start. there may be some bruising tomorrow, but it’s nothing the two of you can’t handle.

you decide to be cheeky and pinch at him, til he’s laughing telling you to stop being annoying, frantically reaching for your hands.

he’s got one of your wrists in his hands, the other twisted in the front of your shirt. then his eyes are wandering, and his breath catches a lil.

the way you’re sprawled out beneath him, his hips slotted against yours. he’s hyperaware of the heat radiating off your body, the skin that peeks out where your shirt has ridden up.

and you’re still trying to catch your breath, not paying him any mind. meanwhile, he’s shaking a bit, pupils expanding, and suddenly you don’t look like his best friend anymore.

I hope you believe that you can still make a beautiful life for yourself even if you lost many years of it to grief, or darkness, depression, or a wound that wouldn't close.
