Bottom line: Robin is out living her best life while Sunday is in the back somehow having the most insane week of his life. I have no other notes for her here except that she is happy, and successful, and is Sunday’s last remaining brain cell. She and Misha are having some fun Aunt/Nephew bonding times while Galladay are accidentally-on-purpose committing multiple war crimes.

No, we don’t have time to unpack 2.2 and all its trauma, we cope with modern AU :)

Ming clinging so desperately to this need for Joe to be alive so he can make up for hurting him and so lonely that it's tearing him to shreds and how all he wants from Joe 2.0 as a stand in is what he had with Joe, a safe place to sleep and someone who makes breakfast and someone who's going to come home to him, someone who can come home when the lights are on and to the smell of food. Ming wants to be a home and he's waiting for Joe to come home but two years of waiting and trying to wait and trying to change doesn't work if you don't understand the faulty premise of your entire life and now Ming is shaken to the care to realize that Tong was the stand in all along, that Tong was never the person he loved no matter what he thought and it was Joe all along, Joe all the way back and all the way down and now he has even more at stake, even pain, even more that is screaming to the very center of everything he has ever had that knows he is wrong and broken and there is nowhere for him to go.

Joe is a dead man in a new body given a chance at a life that he's discovering is empty because, at the end of his life, he was empty and there is so much agony and so much pain and so much loss and he is lost, he was lost, he went over a cliff and now here is trying to live his old life without being himself, without ever able to be in his old life, a stand in within a life that is no longer his but is right next to where he was before. Joe is empty and he keeps finding a reason to keep living through the barest of hopes and reasons and he loves Ming and hates that he loves him but that ending, that sudden realization that Ming did and does love him... oh, absolutely heartbreaking because Joe isn't himself anymore and he cannot go back to being himself and it is just... oh, devastation.
