Why Maud Pie is Autistic

In honor of Autism Acceptance Month, I wanted to write a piece about one of my favorite autistic characters, Maud Pie.

For those of you who don't know, Maud Pie is Pinkie Pie's older sister from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Now while there hasn't been any official confirmation that this character is autistic, there's actually a lot of hints that she is throughout her time on the show. Heck, in her first episode there's a ton of hints this is the case.

First off is that Maud tends to take a lot of things literally, not getting certain phrases and metaphors. Which is a trait common amongst autistic people (trust me, I know).

Maud is also shown having certain behaviors or reactions to things that others perceive as a joke, much to her confusion (again, something I'm familiar with).

There are also a few scenes in the show where Maud is seen fidgeting with her pet rock Boulder (or other rocks she finds). Often Autistic people fidget as a way to deal with strong emotions like stress, anxiety, or just boredom.

Probably the biggest hint towards Maud being autistic is that she has a special interest. Autistic people have special interests that they will hyper focus on. In Maud Pie's case, it's obviously rocks. She knows nearly every single fact about rocks, she writes poetry about rocks (they're all about rocks), and would go on to college to study geology, where she would, in the show's terms; "get a rocktorate in rock science."

There's also the fact that Maud is stated by Pinkie and shown to be very honest, like many autistic people she tells the truth even when saying said truth can be seen as rude.

I should note that while the rest of the mane six had a bit of trouble clicking with Maud the first time they met her they eventually got a better understanding of her and Maud herself would become more sociable as the series continued forming friendships with various other characters.

Personally I think one of the biggest hints that Maud is autistic comes from Issue 29 of My Little Pony: Friends Forever comic series from IDW. Now I know some people will probably interject "Hey! The comics aren't canon!" and to that I'm gonna reply to that with what official MLP artist Andy Price once stated "[the comics] are considered continuity until the show contradicts them." I don't recall anything from the show stating that this story didn't happen, so it's still part of the canon!

Anyways, in this story Rarity meets up with Maud at a "Geological and Gemological" convention where they find out that a large cave system with gems has recently been discovered under the Crystal Mountain Range and that the first pony to explore the caves will receive full credit for the discovery. Rarity brings up the idea of Maud going to the caverns, though it doesn't appear that Maud is that excited.

It is at this point another pony named Buried Treasure who is Maud's rival enters the picture, claiming she will get to the cave first to claim the credit for the discovery.

As Rarity and Maud go on their journey to get to the caverns, Rarity tries to get Maud to be more emotive and passionate, but it doesn't appear to be working.

Later on just as they're about to get close to the caves, Buried Treasure ends up burning a bridge they need to cross (torch and all) which appears to put a stop to their adventure. Rarity states how this doesn't seem to be a big loss as Maud doesn't appear to be upset, and is about to write in her diary, only to accidentally open Maud's diary instead. Maud insists that Rarity should read it, which leads us to the big reveal.

It turns out that Maud does have feelings, she gets emotional about a ton of stuff, she just isn't able to show it physically, but she's able to via writing. This is something I relate to big time. I don't have as much trouble expressing my emotions as Maud does, but at the same time, I often have difficulty expressing my full thoughts and more complex feelings via talking, though in my own head or when I write them out, I suddenly feel a whole lot more comfortable and I'm more easily able to get them out (it's one reason why this essay is a blog post and not a video).

(By the way, in case you're wondering, they do end up getting to the gem caverns first. Maud does this by breaking a hole in the wall. She's very strong.)

Going onto another subject, in 2023 Lauren Faust (the creator of Friendship is Magic) confirmed on Twitter that she created Pinkie Pie with the idea that she would be neurodivergent (more specifically ADHD).

Now while ADHD isn't the same as Autism, the two are often linked, as many people who are diagnosed with one will often be diagnosed with the other. So it's very likely that Pinkie Pie has autism as well. She does have several autistic traits, like misunderstanding more complex things, having a special interest in parties to where she can memorize everyone's birthday amongst several other party related facts, heck, even her occasional bouncing and wiggling around could be seen as a kind of stimming (possible essay for later: "Is Pinkie Sense a form of stimming that can predict the future").

Now there may be a few of you that may say, "But WaggToon, Maud and Pinkie can't both have autism, they're completely different. It doesn't make sense!" To which I say, "Yes it does" because there's more than just one kind of autism. Autism can effect people differently, some people might have difficulty with loud noises, others don't, some people like to follow a specific routine, others like to be more unpredictable, some people are more introverted and quiet, other's are a lot more extroverted and love to be loud and crazy (do those last two sound familiar?).

Maud and Pinkie might not be the only autistic representation here, over the years I've seen several arguments from fans stating that certain characters could be part of the spectrum. Twilight Sparkle because she likes to follow the rules, Starlight Glimmer because she has a special interest in kites, Rainbow Dash because she has trouble paying attention, amongst several others! I could be here all day going over why multiple characters could be considered to be autistic. That's one reason why My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has such a huge autistic following, because we see ourselves in these characters.

I'm probably closer to a Pinkie Pie than I am a Maud Pie, but I still remember when I first saw Maud in her debut episode, there was just something about her that made me go "Ah yes, this is me. I feel seen."

How friendly were Sirius and Remus? (1971 - 1981)

(Part 1, maybe...?) With so much fan work set in the 1970s - and Wolfstar in general being popular - it's easy to forget/misremember little details. So… I wanted to scrounge up those little details to form a reading of their relationship I feel confident in. (Some quotes have bold - my emphasis. Emphasizing makes me happy.) (3800 words approx.)

"But apart from my transformations, I was happier than I had ever been in my life. For the first time ever, I had friends, three great friends. Sirius Black... Peter Pettigrew... and, of course, your father, Harry -- James Potter." (PoA ch18)

Remus thought the world of his friends - and still does. For the first time ever, he had friends. He had (and has) no frame of reference of what being 'friends' meant - so he was lucky they were so good.

James and Sirius in particular were amazing - the height of cool. Not him, though. He was never quite like them.

Lupin looked sideways at Sirius and then said, “Look, Harry, what you’ve got to understand is that your father and Sirius were the best in the school at whatever they did — everyone thought they were the height of cool — if they sometimes got a bit carried away —” (OotP ch28)

This is something Harry just can’t get - because he could never think like that. 'Why does ‘cool’ mean they are allowed to be horrible…?' To Remus it seemed to have made sense: If you're top of the pecking order you have some right to treat others the way you want.

We get to see how Remus ignored their behaviour:

Lupin and Wormtail remained sitting: Lupin was still staring down at his book, though his eyes were not moving and a faint frown line had appeared between his eyebrows. (OotP ch28)

As an adult, he questions if he ever had the 'guts' to stand up to them. Sirius… doesn’t instill much confidence:

“Did I ever tell you to lay off Snape?” he said. “Did I ever have the guts to tell you I thought you were out of order?” “Yeah, well,” said Sirius, “you made us feel ashamed of ourselves sometimes.... That was something....” (OotP ch29)

Over multiple years they never felt bad enough to stop - even just for Remus' sake...? He felt he could tell his friends off a little - but never enough to have them actually stop. He couldn't put his foot down that hard-!

This matters to Remus. His memories of ignoring his guilt trouble him. He failed Severus, and Dumbledore - by being a thoughtless, irresponsible coward... and is disgusted by being that way:

“A thought that still haunts me," said Lupin heavily. "And there were near misses, many of them. We laughed about them afterwards. We were young, thoughtless -- carried away with our own cleverness." I sometimes felt guilty about betraying Dumbledore's trust, of course... he had admitted me to Hogwarts when no other headmaster would have done so, and he had no idea I was breaking the rules he had set down for my own and others' safety. […] But I always managed to forget my guilty feelings every time we sat down to plan our next month's adventure. And I haven't changed..." Lupin's face had hardened, and there was self-disgust in his voice. "All this year, I have been battling with myself, wondering whether I should tell Dumbledore that Sirius was an Animagus. But I didn't do it. Why? Because I was too cowardly. It would have meant admitting that I'd betrayed his trust while I was at school, admitting that I'd led others along with me... and Dumbledore's trust has meant everything to me. (PoA ch18)

Interesting how he starts out by saying ‘we’ - then piles the blame exclusively onto himself. His choices are ultimately his fault - but he spares no words of blame for James, Sirius or Peter, as if they did nothing wrong in his eyes. It’s all on him, apparently - he 'lead them astray'... somehow.

When Remus asks Sirius if he could help him with his revision, Sirius blows him off: (I’ll never get over how selfishly rude this is, wow)

"We’ve still got Transfiguration, if you’re bored you could test me.... Here.” He held out his book. Sirius snorted. “I don’t need to look at that rubbish, I know it all.” (OotP ch28)

While James and Peter talk about his Lycanthropy a little too loosely for his liking, despite his protests - Sirius outright wishes it was the Full Moon because he is bored:

“How thick are you, Wormtail?” said James impatiently. “You run round with a werewolf once a month —” “Keep your voice down,” implored Lupin. [...] “I’m bored,” said Sirius. “Wish it was full moon.” “You might,” said Lupin darkly from behind his book. (OotP ch28)

They do have one positive interaction, but it’s still focused on Remus' Lycanthropy:

“Did you like question ten, Moony?” asked Sirius as they emerged into the entrance hall. “Loved it,” said Lupin briskly. “ ‘Give five signs that identify the werewolf.’ Excellent question.” (OotP ch28)

This is... uncomfortable.

It suggests an uneven friendship. An unhealthy power dynamic.

Remus, with his precarious life situation and deep self-loathing, is enamored with the fact James and Sirius (the most popular kids and 50% of his bedroom) are interested in him… even if most of their interactions are based around interest in his condition. Not his wants, needs and feelings. They are flippant with those.

He doesn't risk pushing them too far. He doesn't want to speak to them too strongly. What if he pushes them away...?

We see them treat him like a toy. A point of interest. They may genuinely like him, but he is not on their level. He doesn't ask them to care more about respecting him because he feels lucky to have anything at all.

There is also the angle that they have dirt on him. A slip of the tongue and he is ruined. Honestly, they can make his life hell even without outing him as a werewolf: Remus isn't popular. If James and Sirius turn their back on him (say, if he defends Severus too hard) they can bully him into the ground - like they do to Severus.

Would they...? Gut feeling says no... but then again: The way they treat Peter is horrific. They preen on his attention but verbally abuse him. He is doing exactly what they want and yet they treat him like garbage for it:

Wormtail was the only one who didn’t laugh. “I got the snout shape, the pupils of the eyes, and the tufted tail,” he said anxiously, “but I couldn’t think what else —” “How thick are you, Wormtail?” said James impatiently. […] Wormtail was watching him with his mouth open. Every time James made a particularly difficult catch, Wormtail gasped and applauded. After five minutes of this, Harry wondered why James didn’t tell Wormtail to get a grip on himself, but James seemed to be enjoying the attention. Harry noticed his father had a habit of rumpling up his hair as though to make sure it did not get too tidy, and also that he kept looking over at the girls by the water’s edge. “Put that away, will you?” said Sirius finally, as James made a fine catch and Wormtail let out a cheer. “Before Wormtail wets himself from excitement.”Wormtail turned slightly pink but James grinned. “If it bothers you,” he said, stuffing the Snitch back in his pocket. Harry had the distinct impression that Sirius was the only one for whom James would have stopped showing off. (OotP ch28)

The way others saw their friendship is... oof…

"Pettigrew... that fat little boy who was always tagging around after them at Hogwarts?" said Madam Rosmerta. "Hero-worshipped Black and Potter," said Professor McGonagall. (PoA ch10)

That would be bad enough, finding ways to pick at Remus' 'faults' and belittle him. Bringing the potential for rumors of Lycanthropy into that…? The power they have over him is immense.

And so, the prank:

He speaks of it severely as an adult, though in softened, understated ‘British Gentleman’-y language:

He has his reasons... you see, Sirius here played a trick on him which nearly killed him, a trick which involved me --" Black made a derisive noise. "It served him right," he sneered. "Sneaking around, trying to find out what we were up to... hoping he could get us expelled...."(PoA ch18)

‘Trick’ is used twice - an exaggerated downplay, a paralipsis. He draws focus to it, enough that Sirius cuts him off to relieve the slight tension and brush it away. Remus is emphasizing it as something bad without saying it outright - Sirius scoffs at that insinuation, insisting it was justified.

(That might seem like I’m over-explaining something obvious, but more often than not I see people misinterpreting this tone of dialogue, eg.‘Remus said it was just a ‘trick’ so it obviously didn’t really matter to him’ - despite it being said… like this.)

It isn’t just a ‘trick’, or else it wouldn’t have used him. It wouldn’t have been deadly. James wouldn’t have had to intercept it ‘at great risk to his life’:

Well, of course, Snape tried it -- if he'd got as far as this house, he'd have met a fully grown werewolf -- but your father, who'd heard what Sirius had done, went after Snape and pulled him back, at great risk to his life... Snape glimpsed me, though, at the end of the tunnel. (PoA ch18)

Whether that retelling of events is fully accurate or not Remus takes it seriously. He is commending James for considering it serious enough to step in - while Sirius is admonished for not. Later - he compares Harry’s acceptance of him more to James:

“But you are normal!” said Harry fiercely. “You’ve just got a — a problem —” Lupin burst out laughing. “Sometimes you remind me a lot of James. He called it my ‘furry little problem’ in company. Many people were under the impression that I owned a badly behaved rabbit.” (HBP ch16)

…He seems to put James on a higher pedestal than Sirius, is what I’m saying. James, like Harry, separates ‘Remus’ from his ‘problem’. Humanizing him. Remus isn’t just 'a werewolf', 'different' - he is a man who struggles with something difficult.

The way he describes Sirius' decision is once again gentleman-ish exaggerated downplay:

Sirius thought it would be -- er -- amusing, to tell Snape all he had to do was prod the knot on the tree trunk with a long stick, and he'd be able to get in after me. (PoA ch18)

Note how he uses the same language to describe their relationship with Snape, which we know was extreme and important to Remus:

"We were in the same year, you know, and we -- er -- didn't like each other very much. He especially disliked James. Jealous, I think, of James's talent on the Quidditch field... (PoA ch18)

Remus doesn't think any of this is amusing. But he is so grateful to their acceptance that he swallows his complaints and softens his wording to not rock the boat. (Also - him describing Snapes ‘accident’, for further example of his exaggerated downplay:)

"That was the final straw for Severus. I think the loss of the Order of Merlin hit him hard. So he -- er -- accidentally let slip that I am a werewolf this morning at breakfast." (PoA ch22)

He cant bring himself to outright blame them for anything. Even as an adult he defends them. And, when he does complain, he speaks gently - language softened to not sound as much like the harsh criticism it is.

Neither James or Sirius were as interested in Remus as eachother, however. Remus and Peter were usually left out. Following around, being teased and brushed off... It isn't as often that they all are adventuring together:

It was, as Harry had anticipated, useless, boring work, punctuated (as Snape had clearly planned) with the regular jolt in the stomach that meant he had just read his father or Sirius’s names, usually coupled together in various petty misdeeds, occasionally accompanied by those of Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew. (HBP ch24)

But there was at least once a month where they all had fun together:

"And they didn't desert me at all. Instead, they did something for me that would make my transformations not only bearable, but the best times of my life. They became Animagi." [...] Under their influence, I became less dangerous. My body was still wolfish, but my mind seemed to become less so while I was with them." [...] well, highly exciting possibilities were open to us now that we could all transform. Soon we were leaving the Shrieking Shack and roaming the school grounds and the village by night. Sirius and James transformed into such large animals, they were able to keep a werewolf in check. I doubt whether any Hogwarts students ever found out more about the Hogwarts grounds and Hogsmeade than we did... [...] "And there were near misses, many of them. We laughed about them afterwards. We were young, thoughtless -- carried away with our own cleverness." (PoA ch18)

It’s no real surprise he describes their risky, guilty-pleasure Full Moon excursions as the best time of his life: He could feel worth something even as a ‘monster’. Though between Full Moons he isn’t as appreciated, his bad nights became something celebrated rather than hated, isolated, judged.

Even though he feels guilty betraying Dumbledore (who has done kind things for him, things that prioritize his well-being and happiness - but offer little personal comfort) he can't resist the feeling of being wanted and accepted even at his worst. The ultimate temptation for an outcast.

The call of temptation, the promise of belonging, pulling him in... His backbone too weak to hold him firmly to his morals - because the loss of joy seems irreversible for him. We see this trained behaviour repeat through his life. (Not standing up for Severus, forgiving the prank, lying to Dumbledore, accepting being a teacher, poor treatment of Severus, warmth but emotional distance from Harry, pulling emotional focus on himself in the shack rather than the kids or Sirius or Peter, on-and-off romantic/sexual engagement with Tonks without locking in...)

Why do I say it is 'trained'…?

Because before his friends, the only people he knew were his parents and Dumbledore. His parents loved him, raised him, tried to find help for him and protected him. Dumbledore showed up when they thought he would never be able to go to Hogwarts - to offer him a place there. He altered the school grounds and Hogsmeade just to support him:

"I was a very small boy when I received the bite. My parents tried everything, but in those days there was no cure. […] It seemed impossible that I would be able to come to Hogwarts. Other parents weren't likely to want their children exposed to me. "But then Dumbledore became Headmaster, and he was sympathetic. He said that as long as we took certain precautions, there was no reason I shouldn't come to school...." Lupin sighed, and looked directly at Harry. "I told you, months ago, that the Whomping Willow was planted the year I came to Hogwarts. The truth is that it was planted because I came to Hogwarts. This house" -- Lupin looked miserably around the room, -- "the tunnel that leads to it -- they were built for my use. Once a month, I was smuggled out of the castle, into this place, to transform. The tree was placed at the tunnel mouth to stop anyone coming across me while I was dangerous." (PoA ch18)

Their affection was not conditional on him holding his tongue and ignoring guilt. While a cruel world that forced him to hide may have helped plant a seed of the issues he has - it was his friends that would have rooted it. His friends - rare, unbelievably precious, offering warmth - are powerful, openly cruel and easy to disappoint in ways adults aren’t.

We see later how uncertain he feels when given genuine acceptance. He doesn't know what to make of it. Unpracticed. Conditional/incomplete acceptance is more trustworthy, familiar. He twists lovely things to suit this cognitive dissonance:

+ Harry's refusal to label him primarily as 'werewolf' rather than 'man'... He is just naive - its cute he feels that way. + Tonks' love... She is mistaken, affectionate with someone entirely inappropriate for her - too poor, too old, etc. + Dumbledore's continued trust and support, despite everything... He is an overly good man, seeing the best in people. Him and the Order... Remus can be useful to them. Transactional.

That’s getting a little off-topic - this is supposed to be about Remus and Sirius' relationship. Basically I'm saying Remus thinks this way for a reason - and Sirius has done nothing to dissuade it, while being it's most obvious perpetrator.

From the information we are given, I think it's clear that Sirius and Remus were not particularly close at Hogwarts. They may have been the weakest 'pair' within the Marauders:

+ Sirius and James are tight af, everyone agrees. + Peter follows both Sirius and James even when they are cruel to him as their cheerleader. + Peter and Remus are the ones 'left behind', 'the other two' + Remus thinks especially highly of James for specific things. Remus and Sirius...? "He -- er -- thought it'd be amusing to use me for a little trick. One that almost got Severus and James killed. But you need to understand, Harry - he was cool, popular... it’s easier to get carried away when everyone else is looking up at you - and you down on them."

They have ONE positive interaction as kids. Even that is arguable.

As young adults, after Hogwarts - it gets worse:

Remus never mentions Lily in the books. Ever. She mentions him once: “He’s ill,” said Lily. “They say he’s ill—” (DH ch33) (She didn't know herself, but others - likely the marauders - told her that.) Never as an adult. Not even in the letter she sent Sirius, where she chatted about Peter, Bathilda, Dumbledore - and how the McKinnons' death sucked. (DH10) Sirius was close to Lily - while Remus was not around. Not included. Not even mentioned.

Sirius thought Remus was the spy:

"Not if he thought I was the spy, Peter," said Lupin. "I assume that's why you didn't tell me, Sirius?" he said casually over Pettigrews head. "Forgive me, Remus," said Black. (PoA ch19)

Whether James or Lily agreed with that idea - they agreed, at least, to trust Peter more. Remus wasn’t told about the Secret Keeper situation, which Sirius had planned…

"... why hasn't he shown himself before now? Unless" -- Lupin's eyes suddenly widened, as though he was seeing something beyond Black, something none of the rest could see, "-- unless he was the one... unless you switched... without telling me?" (PoA ch17)

…and thus couldn't have been visiting James, Lily and Harry at all.

"An immensely complex spell," he said squeakily, "involving the magical concealment of a secret inside a single, living soul. The information is hidden inside the chosen person, or Secret-Keeper, and is henceforth impossible to find -- unless, of course, the Secret-Keeper chooses to divulge it. As long as the Secret-Keeper refused to speak, You-Know-Who could search the village where Lily and James were staying for years and never find them, not even if he had his nose pressed against their sitting room window!" (PoA ch10)

While James, Lily, Sirius and Peter (and Bathilda apparently) were tight - Remus was excluded.

I know the general perception is that the Marauders group was Sirius, James, Remus - and Peter was 'the other one'...

...But I think Remus was actually 'the other one'.

That's the dynamic after they left. I doubt it was a sudden shift.

James, Sirius and Peter all worked to become Animagi together. They are the ones shepherding him together, their minds intact as animals hanging out while Remus is only slightly there mentally.

Remus isn't always enthusiastic about how they play. He makes them feel guilty sometimes - can be a bit of a buzzkill. Too busy doing his work to have fun, in ways Sirius finds dull.

Peter is all in on everything. He's right behind them, egging them on, cheering for them - and he takes every insult on the chin, like a punching bag. Good vibes, good times. Peter is an ego boost.

And who do other people talk about when reminiscing...? James, Sirius - and Peter, tagging along behind. No mention of Remus despite the fact they are working with him that year. He would be fresh on their minds, the memories rekindled.

“Pettigrew... that fat little boy who was always tagging around after them at Hogwarts?" said Madam Rosmerta. "Hero-worshipped Black and Potter," said Professor McGonagall. "Never quite in their league, talent-wise. I was often rather sharp with him. You can imagine how I -how I regret that now..." She sounded as though she had a sudden head cold. (PoA ch10)

So - I don't think Remus was as close to them as Peter was, who kept worming his way in. I think Sirius was the most uninterested in Remus - even if they still got along in general.

How did Sirius think of Remus? He didn't see anything wrong with potentially spreading rumors about Remus being under the Willow; pointing someone in the direction of discovering him... putting both of them in danger. Rather than protecting Remus' marginalized identity, or simple supporting him like a friend - he played with him. Disregarded his feelings. Found it easy to cut him out.

Three great friends... I think maybe Remus doesn't have very healthy ideas of what being a friend is.

How do you feel about Maps?

I’m just a little nervous to share them because it ties into shipping…

But since someone in the comments asked...

Okay, so, before, during, and/or after Damian's crush on Amythest (link to that full story below) he was going to West-Reeve School and had a group of friends there, including Jon Kent (jus kidding, Jon had a friend group, and Damian just happened to be in it, lol). One of these friends was Mia, aka Maps. Now, like a lot of characters, I haven't gotten around to really truly reading up on Maps as much as I want, so there are a lot of details I'm missing from this story, but what I have so far is:

Maps was always getting caught up in adventures, intentionally or accidentally. She's a bit rambunctious, and very intelligent. For example, she wound up stumbling into a serious criminal case that Damian and Bruce were working on at the time, and she was completely oblivious (like, she was focused on this other thing at the time). Damian was with her during their trip into Metropolis' version of Crime Alley, so he had to protect her from (idk, scarecrow? riddler? whoever, I haven't gotten that far) all while trying to make sure she doesn't notice that he's doing all this karate and parkour and bending over backwards to keep the villains from hurting her. lol. BUT, actually, one day she does notice. One day she puts two and two together and realises that Damian is Robin. She doesn't confront him, though. She actually doesn't tell anyone. Quite frankly, she's a little starstruck at the idea of her classmate being ROBIN, and she doesn't know what to do with that information. She decides to simply keep his secret, for his sake. Imagine if the whole school found out, or worse, Gotham's criminals. But so, to sum up, Dami and Maps are good friends, nothing more.

Eventually, Damian gets kicked out of West-Reeve and starts going to Gotham Academy. Which means he and Maps part ways.

We are now in the depths of high school. I know. Ew. During this time, Damian meets and begins dating Nika, aka Flatline. They have a very exciting, very fun relationship, forged in the heat of youthful passion! Aka, it's cute. But, as time goes on, some of their flaws start cropping up. Like the fact that Damian is beginning to understand what a terrible thing death and killing are, while Nika is actively fascinated by death--drawn to it. She also looks up to Damian's mom for her awesome assassin skills. Also, it begins to become clear that while they do like one another and have fun together, there's not much more to it than that. Nika and Damian both have a hard time communicating their feelings, but after a year of being together, Damian is beginning to want to take the next step, and... Nika isn't.

Valentine's Day. Damian and Nika's first. All of Damian's bat-sibs have been in his ear about how to plan the perfect date--where to go, what to eat, what to wear--they will not shut up about it. In the end, he goes to the trouble of planning out an elaborate date and feels rather proud of himself. He waits at the table for Nika to arrive--since they had agreed to meet at the restaurant--but... she doesn't show. He waits a little longer... he texts her... she still doesn't come and doesn't text. And now he's starting to just feel depressed. He put in a lot of hard work, and she's ghosting him? Why? She's never done that before. It begins to rain outside.

While he's sitting alone at the table, who should approach him but Maps herself, a little older now, and a little more mature. She and her parents are in town for some business stuff her dad's doing and when she spots Damian--out of the manor, alone in the restaurant--she just has to stop and say 'hi.' Well, she ends up saying a lot more than just 'hi.' Damian is happy to see an old friend, and they start talking... and talking some more... there in the cozy restaurant while the rain patters against the windows. Damian is smiling. And laughing. She is too. Then Damian offers to walk Maps home, and they talk a little longer, not wanting the night to end. It's only when they're waving goodbye, and Damian watches that big smile spread across her face and feels his cheeks growing warm that he gets this sinking feeling.

He goes to Dick's house at once, seeking council. It doesn't matter that it's midnight and he's got a baby now, Damian needs to know what just happened and what to do about it. So, tired but sympathetic, Dick lets him in and they talk about the events of the evening. Dick reaffirms what Maps said, "Maybe there's a good reason why Nika didn't show" and that there's no reason to panic. Just take this one day at a time. Nothing truly bad or irreversable has happened yet.

So Damian goes and finds Nika, asking why she flaked on their date, and she says it was an honest mistake. Something (plot) related came up and she forgot to tell Damian that she wouldn't be available anymore. Whoops. So crisis averted. Damian convinces himself that the night with Maps was just two old friends catching up--his relationship with Flatline is fine--and there's nothing to worry about.

Just kidding.

Nika has a few more little incidents after this, like flaking again, or showing up when she wasn't expected (often at inconvenient times) Damian keeps getting frustrated with her, not just because of her seemingly immature behaviour, but also (as stated before) there doesn't seem to be anything truly substancial holding the relationship together besides some rather surface-level things, and Nika is intentionally trying to keep it that way. Eventually, they have a fight where Damian confronts her on this. He just wants to know the real her, he doesn't want just a "fun" relationship. Nika, however, still feels like she isn't ready, and she deflects. She falls back on old habits, she ignores, she retaliates, she tries to make things stay the way they were before, but Damian has outgrown that.

The fight ends bad. They try to make up after, but they have another fight a while later... and then, in a twist, it's Nika who breaks off the relationship. Maybe they could have worked, but... not right now.

When Maps shows up again, it's not as a rebound, don't worry. She shows up as a friend. She's there to console Damian, nothing more. She feels partially responsible for all of this, actually, and regrets any part she played in it, but Damian assures her that this was a long time coming and wasn't her fault. During her visits, they end up talking more, completely just by chance. No pressure, no elaborate dates, just two friends talking. Once Damian is moving on and getting back into his old groove, (aka a brief timeskip) he decides to call up Maps and asks if she would like to hangout.

Not sure how fast I want things to move, or what kinds of challenges they will face as a couple, all I know is... Maps is a serious contender for the title of Mrs. Damian Wayne. I'll leave it at that.

Hi there! I had an idea for either series!ENA or BBQ!ENA interacting with a reader who's like a therapist or something. Like Ena says something kinda messed up and reader's like "no, that's not normal. Are you ok?" Both these girls need so much therapy, or at least a friend. I think reader becoming protective of Ena would be cute. Reader getting mad at the other entities for being mean to Ena without any real reason (that they know of). If you can't/don't want to do this for any reason, that's OK! Take your time and put yourself first!

Even though Ena (in Power of Potluck) talked to the Therapist, got rid of Mask, and tried to find joy in the little moments--he believes that someone should still keep an eye on her.

That's where you come in, befriending her just to see how she's been handling life in general ever since her session.

Mask hasn't returned, but right off the bat she looks troubled as you explain who sent you and why, although you reassure her it's normal for your boss to request that you checked up on his past patients.

During your talks, her happier side has no complaints really, always grateful to have a new friend. But she does admit to being bothered by her sad side--mainly the effects it had on people she knew.

She's constantly apologizing for her emotions getting "out of hand", even in front of you, and tries burying that sadness--but she gets a wakeup call after you explain how that can do more harm than good.

Eventually, you build enough trust with Ena that she'll willingly turn into her sadder form, and remain in that state long enough for you to make meaningful progress with her.

You notice her tendencies to jump to nonsensical negative conclusions/inaccurate perceptions of herself.....and of course, she has a lot of crying fits/glitches that you gotta help her cope with.

"I-I don't know, I just feel..stupid and worthless sometimes..a-and everyone around me agwees.."

"You believe everybody thinks of you that way? Can you give me an example?"

"W-Well..this one guy asked me for diwections yesterday, a-and...and I couldn't help him!"

"So...he called you those things as an insult?"

"No, h-he thanked me for twying and w-was polite. But I know that's what he weally wanted to say!! Because I'm too stupid and worthless to give anyone diwections!!"

"How do you know for sure he was thinking that?"

"......I....I-I don't know, actually.."

You've gotten better at redirecting her negative thinking, and making her realize that a lot of her assumptions are kinda silly...

Least to say, she feel better coming to you for advice.

Some days she wants to ramble about her day with Moony or what she saw in the sky. Other times, she just needs a hug and a shoulder to cry on. And you're more than willing to offer those at any time.

Outside of your work, you've tagged along in her many adventures, seeing for yourself how rude other entities act towards her---and knowing so many languages helps you easily back sass those who insult her.

They always assume you can't understand them...until you leave them (and Ena) shocked when you suddenly speak their same language.

As soon as she was done dealing with the Boss, she finally took time off of work to get some much-needed counseling.

Fortunately, you were a friend she met during one of her assignments who happened to be pursuing psychology, travelling far and wide to study the minds of everyone you've met.

You suggested that she gave therapy with you a try and, holy hell...you were in for a surprise.

She was willing to pay you in chocolates, fatty catties, etc. for your services....which was perfect compensation considering you may need therapy for yourself.

Salesperson yaps about the most recent absurd/rude thing an entity did or said to her...while pretending like it's just another day in the workweek, looking confused when you point out how that's not normal at all.

Meanie, on the other hand, is a different beast. And is honestly the half you're more worried about.

Since she represents the typical fatigued worker who's trapped in their job and feels like they can't afford to have any fun or luxuries without suffering for it.....she vents a lot, and her opening up about it is like her chipping through a brick wall.

Her anxiety over even mentioning the things that bother her is enough to make vines creep onto her body.

And one time, her broken green form showed up at your doorstep, which was terrifying at first glance....but then you recognized that she desperately needed your help--and you let her in, consoling her until she was able to restabilize and explain what led to that state.

Luckily that's the only time you've ever seen that form, and the vines on her body have grown smaller and weaker to the point where they were barely visible.

It quickly becomes apparent to you that Ena is struggling with some form of PTSD, as though she was a soldier trying to find her place in regular society again--returning from a war that you had no idea even occurred.

You've been trying to uncover the mystery of what she's done in the past...and if that was connected to why so many people seemed to hate her.

Regardless of the reason, though, you hoped to remain her friend and that she'd keep visiting you as often as she needed.

TWSB SIDE STORIES COVER IS OUT!!!!!

The TWSB side stories, "외전: 후월담", are officially coming out on January 1st at 9PM (South Korean time)!!! It'll be released on all its official platforms (such as MUNPIA and RIDIBOOKS)

Currently, there are multiple events for TWSB happening on Ridibooks (which is my personal preference on where to read it, since it's easier to use), including the first 200 chapters being free to read, as well as the return of the daily ticket unlock! More details can be found on the event page!

Anyhow, look at my kids...... OUSGHSHHHHHH HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE 🥹🥹🥹🫶🫂💕🔥🌷🌊

One thing I particularly love is that Yeseo is wearing the deep and vivid purple which only the Pope can use, while simultaneously wearing very distinctly Riesterian clothing. Both Yeseo and friends were very firm in him not belonging to the Vatican/Neutral Zone, and despite the tradition of the Pope candidates requiring to renounce their nationality and reside in the Neutral Zone, Riester—but Cédric and Aurélie ESPECIALLY—makes it very clear that Yeseo is, above all else, a citizen of the Riester Empire.

Cloaked in the colours of the Pope he might be, but the Riesterian clothing he wears is very indicative of where his allegiances and heart lay. Riester is his second home and where he belongs!!!!! He might be Pope, but nothing will take precedent over the bonds he made that tie him to Riester 🥹 Not to mention the fact that Cédric is already proposing to make Yeseo a new palace/villa near the portal to his home in South Korea, 1) so that Yese wouldn't have to reside in the traditional Pope's residence which is the Temple of Borders where Yeseo and friends have many unpleasant and tragic memories, and 2) so that........ Cédric..... this guy...... can pull a Romero Riester and have a portal installed in the basement of Romero Palace that leads directly to Yeseo's home near the border. (He's really just like his great-grandfather....... Riester Imperial men are such simps LMAO)

Yeseo can directly and immediately travel between the Riester Palace, his new Neutral Zone residence (sponsored by Cédric himself) and the portal that leads to the Jung Family home. All without having to waste any time, and all that would allow for Yeseo and friends to meet each other very very easily, and even for them to pick Yeseo up from his world when done with weekday work at the office 🥹 IT'S SO TOUCHING IDK OUGGJVDGHHH

Cédric and Ga-in are both wearing clothing borrowed from the Jung siblings, too, haha—most definitely Hyunseo(previously, Cédric has had trouble wearing Yeseo's shirt)(TO SMALL) and Eunseo respectively! I kinda love that ChriCed are wearing modern clothes while Yeseo is wearing Riesterian clothing, because in a way it truly symbolizes how both Korean and Riester have now both become Yeseo's homes, and where Yeseo's homes are, ChriCed will also be there, or welcomed there......

I genuinely have no clue what to expect from the side stories, but I have some potential ideas:

More elaboration on the link between QPB and Choi Seonah (Jung siblings' mom)

CYC adventures in modern-day South Korea!!!

Cédric finally proposing to Yeseo and Yeseo not immediately dying or rejecting Cédric......... (LMAO third time's the charm Cédric I believe in you 😭😭) and by extension, CYC officially becoming Religious and Political partners!!!

Cerise and Lynn?? 👀 perhaps as adults, or we get to see them growing up. But I think it would be massively interesting if we get their future selves interacting with present-time CYC (I imagine this would happen in some way with the help of the sword of Durandal which had the ability to cut through time and space!!!!!) I wanna see the grown-up kids interact with the younger versions of their parents "older siblings".... 🥹

Hello! No drawing today, just general answer. This is my first large publication. =)

Some people like my Superman/Batman Animated Series Kon AU and wish to learn more. Here I will include my ideas.

The beginning of Superboy's life is basic. Cadmus clones a young Superman that they can control and Kon is born in their laboratory.

Kon breaks out before the cloning process is complete, resulting in him being troubled, having poor eyesight and limited vision. He is confused and needs constant guidance.

He is not a pervert, nor is he heavily attracted to women like he was in the original version. I skipped that part to include him in the animated series universe. However, even if he doesn't do that, he's still bad. He uses his powers to steal from people, and citizens confuse him with Superman (a similar case with Sonic Adventure 2). Due to this, Superman's reputation is ruined constantly.

Kon steals items he thinks are pretty (his jacket and glasses were taken from a clothing store). He is only a few months old so his knowledge is limited. He doesn't know stealing is wrong..

Superman eventually learns of this and instead of blaming him, Superman becomes his mentor. Although Kon always somehow messes things up. Superman likes him regardless.

Superboy will also appear on BTAS alongside Robin. I can think of a reason, but I haven't thought of one yet. When they reunite, they clearly don't get along at first. Superboy is too absent-minded and Robin takes everything seriously. It takes a long time for them to become friends. Also, Superboy's limited vision leads him to believe that Robin's blurry silhouette is a girl and that Batman is a giant cat who has somehow learned to speak. Fortunately, Superman is with him and reveals that this is not the case. After all, Superboy thinks it makes sense.

I'd like to turn my idea into a fan-made comic issue, but it's still too early. I'm busy with life. I'll be making more joke drawings over time until I'm free and able to explore the AU better. I also like to apologize for my mistakes in my writing. Again, this is not my language and errors are being made. & Thanks for 2000 follows too! That's a big number and makes me happy knowing people like my joke creations. Thank you ;)!!

Rivulet Anthro AU Info Sheet

With The Watcher coming out, my interest in Rainworld was revitalized; so I decided to maybe share some of the details of all of the Anthro designs I came up with but never really got to write down. If my motivation continues, there should things like this for each character, but I started off with Rivulet cause they’re pretty fun to draw (Excuse the horrible formatting)

Rivulet’s Personality / General facts below the cut!

Rivulet spends majority of their time being either aloof or hyperactive, although it’s mostly the latter. Their 5 yard stare makes it easy to assume they’re not paying attention or are daydreaming, but I like to think they’re actually very observant, and that like their physical speed, they process things a lot faster than their peers, the world just moves slower to them. They’re actually very intelligent when they choose to be, just most of the time prefer the chaotic energy of not really thinking before doing things. They use the bands on their arms and legs to encourage themselves to balance, since these bands are weighted, it means they’re effectively nerfing themselves in order to improve.

Rivulet’s Relationships with other characters

SpearMaster

SpearMaster and Rivulet are pretty close, since Riv makes a good listener, SM and Riv enjoy having insightful conversations about each others issues or opinions. Rivulet often shows their more intelligent and reasonable side when pairing alone with SM, and it helps get things off of his chest since he knows Hunter is sick.

Gourmand

Gourmand and Rivulet are in a relationship, so they’re naturally really close. Rivulet loves helping Gourmand with whatever task Gourmand has in mind, since Rivulet just loves helping her. Rivulet mostly helps with cooking, delivering Gourmand any ingredient they request in a (mostly) reasonable time frame. Rivulet usually hyper focuses on Gourmand whenever they’re together, admiring her, and taking up majority of Rivulet’s attention. When Rivulet and Gourmand aren’t doing chores, it’s usually spent chilling, or with Gourmand trying to convince Rivulet out of a totally not stupid and dangerous idea.

Artificer

Artificer and Rivulet are a chaotic duo, both well versed in combat, and receptive to having fun in the most dangerous ways possible. Rivulet’s hyperactivity gets put on hyperdrive whenever they’re with Arti, and they spend their time together doing ridiculous things like getting drunk, high, blowing things up, riding lizards, ect. They’re homies basically.

Saint

Rivulet and Saint are less close, but Saint knows Rivulet is fairly insightful, so occasionally, they just hang out and talk about stuff. Nothing too complicated though. They’re also good at working together when it comes to problem solving, since they’re both pretty resourceful.

Monk / Survivor

Rivulet sometimes babysits Survivor and Monk, usually occupying their time teaching them cool tricks or telling them about the places they traveled. Or just, chilling.

Inv / Enot

Rivulet treats Inv as kind of a younger sibling, playfully bullying them, and dragging them along on their adventures. Usually getting Inv into trouble, that Riv (Mostly) saves them from.

Hunter

Hunter and Rivulet aren’t close, but they’re friends. Rivulet interacts with Hunter mostly indirectly, like delivering ingredients for his medicine. But occasionally Riv will act directly, helping Hunter get things; Riv limits contact since they fear they might bother him.

im having a fucking field day out here.

so in case anyone reading this is unaware, campyfire recently dropped these:

there is a LOT to unpack here. i am losing it over the namedrop but i would mainly like to focus on psychoanalyzing kyoko because. i mean this is her letter, plus in context it wasnt really meant to be read by anyone other than herself, so its likely that shes being pretty damn genuine here. which means i get to look at it and read into it and convince myself even further that she is!!! not okay!!!!!!

“we” is likely referring to the rest of her family, so theyre probably alive and present. which is good because i would actually kill someone if she lost her sister and had literally no one else. i really hope they gave her some support at some point because it seems like she really needs it

becoming an adventurer is a lot. leaving home and letting go of your old life is a lot. and kyoko did that because it was something her sister liked to do, because it made her look strong and brave and she wanted to be like her. she mustve really, really looked up to her :(((

…I was scared at first, but talking with them made me happy… really happy.

ok hold up. she was scared??? while she does seem scared for them, shes never appeared to be scared of them, so… why? maybe its because they just come off as intimidating to everyone? it could be like how several npcs in the manor thought they looked off. but that was after she first met them, plus they were definitely a doing a lot better back when they only had one sword. i personally think this might be hinting at some kind of attachment and/or vulnerability issues? idk it REALLY seems like shes got some shit going on, especially because of how she lets you vent about your problems but immediately changes the subject once she mentions hers in her manor dialogue. still not normal about that btw.

Things are weighing down on them though, I didn’t want to trouble them…

shes clearly worried about being a burden to player while theyve got so much going on. even though she has literally let them vent to her. while she ALSO had some shit going on. dont get me wrong, i get why she'd think that way, player IS visibly going through it and they dont need more things to worry about. but it would probably be worth it to at least ask if theyd be ok with listening to her talk about everything. theyre her friend, and theyve got quite a few things in common. they would understand.

I shouldn't give up. I know you're out there, so I'm going to be just like you and never stop trying.

the thing about having a loved one go missing is that anything could have happened to them. there so many horrible ways for calypso to have gone out, especially since kyoko has ZERO IDEA where she could have gone. and yet, she chooses to believe that shes still out there somewhere, because she knows her sister, and she knows that shes stronger than that. and she wouldnt leave her.

also consider: calypso's an adventurer. it would be normal to not hear from her for a while. so imagine how long it took for her family to even realize something was wrong. calypso has been gone for a very long time.

im glad kyoko's at least coping somehow... still think she should open up a bit, but its better than nothing. i really want her to get the support she needs, because shes clearly going through a lot, despite how cheerful she might appear. also i wanna know more about calypso, it seems like she was super cool.

anyways kyoko is the best and most well written block tales character. thank you for coming to my ted talk

HERE IT IS!! THE LONG-AWAITED RRCU MASTERPOST!!!

WHAT is the RRCU, exactly?

The Rise Rabbit Cinematic Universe is a series of derivative fanworks featuring original characters inspired by Stan Sakai's Usagi Yojimbo comics and the spinoff show Samurai Rabbit, with lore and events set in the canonical world of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It was created by myself (@aversiteespabilas) and @rhinocio, together with my best friend Iggy (@r3xcorvus) contributing with their own characters and plot and acting as writing consultant for the rabbits. If you know Stan Sakai's characters, you may find some things familiar, but ultimately, these are completely original characters with original storylines. It started with Rhin and I playing with the concept of our distinct versions of Rise!Usagi being estranged family, and it's now become a rich world of stories and characters that we really feel is worth sharing. Enjoy the ride!

Is this a Rise AU (Alternative Universe)?

Technically, no. RRCU stories are written on the assumption that everything that happens on the ROTTMNT canon does happen exactly as is. We're not working with alternate dimensions either, as the Usagi family are yokai, just like any other in the Hidden City. This is rather a Rise spin-off, focusing on original characters, how the yokai world or Ikai works, and our take on Hidden Japan. It's not an alternate universe, the rabbits are just busy doing their own stuff. However, we do have different alternative timelines or AUs within the RRCU. I'll get to that.

Are they like, dragon riders?

They are, thank you for noticing! I take great pride in that idea 'cause it's allowed me to do a lot of cool stuff. In the RRCU, tokage are large winged lizards, and the characters can ride them! Yuki's best friend Spot is also a loyal flying mount who carries him to adventure.

What's with the amount of rabbits? Seriously, there are SO many.

Well, this is about the Usagi Family. Several generations of them, in fact. We have a wide array of characters we write about or draw artwork for, young and old, living and deceased. At its core, the RRCU is about family, overcoming generational trauma, dealing with your heritage, and reconnecting with those you love.

Okay, but who is dating Leonardo Ninjaturtle, exactly?

Sometimes a rabbit. Sometimes a different rabbit. Sometimes, not a rabbit. Bottom line: It's not about Leo, though he does cameo and romantically feature in some of the fics. When we started merging our concepts of Usagi, Rhin and I already had plenty of canonical work written that featured Leo getting romantically involved with our respective Usagis. As a result of that, we decided each of us would take care of a different timeline or AU based mostly on who Leo is dating. Most of the time, in my own work, Leonardo will be dating Yuki. In Rhin's work, Leonardo might be dating Yusuke (in Rise's apocalyptic future) or perhaps a loveable human named Juan. Or perhaps nobody in particular.

Why are there fics in spanish in the Yuki Usagi (ROTTMNT) ao3 tag? Why do Yuki-focused fics reference stuff that hasn't been published before?

That is because I am spanish, and because before my fic journey, Yuki's story was developed in private (spanish) roleplay. That is why in Yuki's fics, I am assuming Leo and him are already friends, but in Run O' The Mill Rabbit I did my best to retroactively explain the events that led to their friendship regardless.

He's the young heir to the Usagi Family, and that comes with a massive amount of pressure that he's always been able to take in stride, in spite of his hearing disability. With unwavering confidence, commitment to Bushido, and a penchant for silliness, Yuki is always ready to take on any challenge. As an Usagi, though, his greatest challenge may actually be admitting when he's having real trouble, and letting others help him instead.

He's the Usagi Family's long-lost son, Tetsuya's 20-years-younger brother, and Yuki's forgotten uncle. After struggling to meet his samurai family's very strict expectations throughout his childhood, he travelled to America in search of purpose, and accidentally got Mariko pregnant instead. Since then, he's been forced to cut ties with the Usagi and has become radio silent. Weighed down by his shame and used to constantly running away, his only anchors are his son Jotaro and his very dear friends Mariko and Kenichi; yet, he still refuses to truly face the people he loves.

He's Yuki's father and Yusuke's 20-years-older brother. As the Usagi Family Head, his duty has always been preserving the family's dwindling reputation, ensuring traditions and protocol are followed, and being in charge of absolute perfection. However, this mindset has historically not made his family... like him very much, as hard as that is to believe. After his wife's passing and both his little brother and son running off to America, his loneliness has led to regrettable events that are forcing him to accept that he might not be all that perfect himself, either.

She was Tetsuya's first wife and Yuki's mother, before her unfortunate death in the line of duty. She was the lightheartedness and sweetness to Tetsuya's inflexible demeanor, and Tetsuya was a safety line for her more impulsive and daring traits. She had affinity for a very powerful mystic sword that her son Yuki inherited.

She's a hare, and Tetsuya's second wife. A ninja and skilled assassin sent to kill the Usagi Family Head, who eventually decided none of that ninja stuff was worth it anyway. She is supremely chill about everything, in ways the Usagi are still getting used to.

He's Tetsuya and Toshiko's son, which makes him Yuki's baby brother, and a hare-rabbit hybrid yokai. We are sure he will not grow into a troublemaker or anything.

He's Yusuke's very american best friend (though he himself would prefer a different appellative), Mariko's husband, and the dad who stepped up. His love for his own pack is fierce to a fault, so his distaste for the Usagi and everything they stand for often feels more personal than warranted.

She's Kenichi's wife, Jota's mom, and formerly (though she herself would prefer it were currently) Yusuke's date. Also coming from a high-standing family that kept clipping her wings, Mari's gone with a totally different coping mechanism from Yusuke's, and has adopted the Fun, Cool Mom label for herself. She will not be made to choose who she's allowed to love, or how intensely. Not anymore.

He's Yusuke, Mariko, and Kenichi's wonderful son, and he was named Jotaro first, okay? Tetsuya just never even knew it. Although his parents have done their best to keep him away from their own complicated family issues, Jota has become a very emotionally intelligent and mature child regardless, and gets frustrated when they insist on babying him.

She's Keiko's older sister, and Yuki's beloved aunt. Multifaceted, a bit eccentric, and the family's first polyglot, she's constantly learning new skills, and will support and encourage openness of mind in the Usagi as well, though she's not interested in courtly life at all. She was the one to teach Yuki english, and they also learned japanese sign language together, which has led to the two of them having a very deep connection. He often asks and accepts help from her in a way he's never had with anyone, not even his own parents.

He's a young eagle yokai raised under Bishop's orders and yokai fear-mongering. He would eventually become Mikey's best friend, and, as he unlearns his misguided beliefs and opens up to others, he occasionally stumbles upon the Usagi, who are keen to adopt angry street rats like him.

Why read this one?: This is probably the best introduction to the RRCU if you're already a fan of Rise and want to see an interesting take on teen Usagi. It features a bunch of familiar secondary characters and settings from Rise.

Famed samurai Usagi Tetsuya's wife just passed, and he is left to live alone with a teenaged boy and the guilt of their estranged family. As the eldest daughter of her clan of assassins, Toshiko is expected to succeed her mother and earn her place as mistress of the clan. However, she must first complete one last mission: kill the head of the Usagi family.

Setting: Hidden Tokyo, spanning from the time leading to the Shredder's awakening to some time after the ROTTMNT movie canon.

Usagi Yusuke is the second son of Hidden Tokyo's Usagi Clan. He is a mediocre, masterless samurai-in-training. He is also, abruptly, a father. The last of those, according to his elder brother, is a shameful thing. The last of those, in Yusuke's opinion, makes the former unimportant. He will do what he must to provide for his son, even if that means moving half a world away and cutting ties with his family entirely. Of course, just because he has loved and let go does not mean his nephew has the same intention.

They’ve got an established back and forth, and they've been using it for years: Leonardo’s the Rebel Leader who teases like he means something, Usagi’s the Bodyguard who humours him, and nothing they say ever goes anywhere.

Mer AU Headcanons 1/2

As I mentioned in our chat, your mer headcanons inspired me and led me to come up with some ideas of my own. I hope you like them. Feel free to build on them or discard them, I’m not planning to write a fic from this.

I headcanon that Gale is like a siren - he lures pirates and ships he finds threatening to perilous waters and causes shipwrecks. This is because pirates often try to poach on his community and he wants to protect his people and their treasures and homes.

Appearance wise, Gale has shoulder-length hair, his tail is blue, and he loves wearing jewelry. He usually wears a necklace, bracelets and a waist chain. All gold and expensive (he collected them from shipwrecks). Sirens in this AU can shift into human form at will.

One day, one of his friends gets caught in the net of a poacher pirate ship and Gale tries to rescue them while they're still in the water. He manages to cut his friend out of the net, but he gets injured and caught instead.

The pirates pull him on deck and taunt, laugh and pick on him. They take his jewelry too. It seems like things might get out of hand but pirate Bucky steps in and convinces the others to leave Gale alone. He even gets him some treatment for his wound.

But Gale just bides his time. Once it's dark enough and he’s alone, tied up, he shifts into human form and uses the extra mobility his legs provide to get out of his binds.

Meanwhile, Bucky gambles with the other pirates and wins Gale's jewelry on cards. He decides he wants to see what he can from Gale for the gold, intends to get Gale's consent to touch his tail.

Except, when he gets there, all he finds is a naked man already halfway out of the rope binding. He and Gale have a stare off, then Gale proceeds with his escape plan and gets out of the ropes. He asks Bucky why he's not calling the others. Bucky shrugs, says something about curiosity and a craving for adventure instead of gold. Then tells Gale he has his jewelry. Gale tells him to keep it, then escapes back into the water.

The other pirates notice and start to pursue him. Bucky is immediately in trouble because they suspect he let Gale go. But it doesn't matter anyway, because Gale's leading them to their end.

Gale who perches on the outskirts of a jagged rock cove, beckons pirates in with a slender finger and iridescent tail, lures them until they're just reaching out for him and then he jumps in the water, but by then it's too late for the pirates to turn around and they're doomed to crash, and Gale swims into the aftermath to steal all of their jewelry and precious gems

Bucky being absolutely floored by how beautiful Gale is when they capture him, pale skin draped in gold jewels with the most beautiful tail he's ever seen, damn consider that boy smitten, and when he wins back all of Gale's jewelry and finds him in naked human form in the cellar he hates to admit that all he can think about is what Gale's salty skin must taste like

Gale lashes out at him, lunges for him but John manages to pin him to the ground, straddling his naked form and feeling his cheeks warm at the compromising position, but Gale's all angry and teeth and tries to wrangle out of John's hold but John's still able to hold him, "I'm trying to help you!" he shouts and it makes Gale pause, stop struggling as he notices John's hands full of his jewels

"why do you want to help me? you let them capture me," Gale hisses

"because I don't give a fuck about the jewels or the riches, I've never seen a mermaid in my life, and I guess that's why I wanted to do this in the first place. For the adventure, to see things I've never seen before... not for the money, not at all," John confesses and Gale can feel his heart start to warm

and so he lets John distract the crew while Gale escapes, diving off the edge of the boat and into the dangerous cove where they found him, can't help but turn back and think about John, think about what he's done for him, and realizes how much trouble John must be in

Shows That Deserve a Second Chance!

Hi! How y'all doing? Okay, time to get to the nitty gritty this is just my opinion on shows that deserve a second chance!

As we all know by now it doesn't matter if a show is popular or big the fandom is a show will get cancelled for no (and incredibly stupid) reason or never got to make it on the TV screen at all!

Due to Tumblr's limitation on pictures, I'll just do a select few series based on: never aired, messed up by the network but still had an ending, & messed up by the network.

Also, no show is in any particular order I just put them in randomly and if there are more shows that have been unjustly cancel/ never aired please be free to add some to the post.

This is purely for fun and if there is a show you like that got cancelled you may add it to the list.

Let's Begin:

First, are the shows that never aired but had amazing pilots.

1.The Modifiers

The Modifiers was created by Lynne Naylor & Chris Reccardi who pitched the idea to Nickelodeon.

The series is set in 1960's mod style/ steampunk/ magical girl/retrofuturism world focused on Agent Xero and her sidekick Mole who work for a secret agency known as The Modifiers in their quest to stop the evil Baron Vain and his rat sidekick named Rat (no, really, he's a rat named Rat). In the series Agent Xero disguises herself as Lacey Shadows to go undercover and foil Baron Vain plans, the twist of Rat knows that Agent Xero and Lacey Shadows are one in the same and tries to expose them.

Seeing how the modifiers had the same reteo style as My Life As A Teenage Robot, The Mighty B, and Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi (owned by Cartoon Network), it would've made a great addition to the line up plus another girl boss series!

Despite the positive feedback and petitions the show has not been picked up and Chris Reccardi tragically passed away 2019 due to a heart attack, leaving ownership to Lynne Naylor.

2.Carmen Got Expelled

Carmen Got Expelled was created by Jorge R. Gutierrez and was pitched to Disney Television Animation.

The series follows a young girl named Carmen who was expelled from her last school from defending her classmates from a group of bullies. While it looks like Carmen will face punishment (for actually doing the right thing and being a good person), good - karma steps in the form of The Baron who enrolls Carmen in his private academy. Sadly, Headmistress Gnarly and her niece Yvonne try to do everything in their power to get Carmen in trouble and get her expelled for good. Luckily, Carmen has her friends Bing, Ozzy, and Johnny (*coughCRUSHcough*) to get her out of trouble!

The reason the show wasn't picked was because the network didn't think it would do well with audience and wanted Carmen's race to be changed and be a girl who loves rules. WOW, REALLY?!? I think if Jorge pitched the idea to Nickelodeon, it might have worked since his show El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera was already on that channel and would've made a good crossover.

After being rejected, Jorge worked on The Book of Life film that also was rejected for a while only to become a- SUCCESS!

3. The Kitty Bobo Show

The Kitty Bobo Show was created by Kevin Kaliher & Meaghan Dunn and was pitched to Cartoon Network during their 2001 Big Pick competition where the viewers picked who would win. The winner became the classic show Codename: Kids Next Door!

The series focused on Kitty Bobo an anthropomorphic cat living in a big city along with other anthropomorphic animals and had it continued would've explored more of Kitty Bobo, his adoptive parents who are dogs, and his friends. In the pilot 'Cellphones' the plot was of Kitty Bobo trying to look cool and impress everyone with his new (now dated) cellphone.

The show is now a cult classic and had many petitions to become an actual show. Apparently, the creators want to continue the pilot from this Instagram post. If it does happen, I think it would work best teens/young adults on Adult Swim.

4.Princess Academy

Princess Academy was created by Olivier Ciappa and David Kawena and was pitched to Disney. It was supposed to be an animated short that was also a musical not just featuring the famous Disney Princesses, but also many other female leads at a boarding school. Sadly, the project was canceled due to Disney getting rid of its 2-D animation department (another bad decision).

This is just an educated guess, but from the concept art a little girl got accept into the Princess Academy and got to interact with her favorite characters and at the end of the short more students would arrive and meet their favorite leading ladies.

Seeing how big the Disney Princess fandom is, I'm surprised this was passed up. I mean HELLO! You got all the Disney Princesses and the other female leads in one place, I think this would've been a success!

5. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit the Series

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit the Series was planned to premier on Disney+ and had many announcements and people excited for the return of Oswald, only to be disappointed (AGAIN!) when news hit they weren't doing the show.

After, all poor Oswald has gone through: Walt losing custody over him in divorce court, abandoned, and forgotten; give the poor guy a break and let him have his show!

Despite all that Oswald has made cameos in Mickey Mouse shorts, The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse, Once Upon A Studio, and his own short. There's still hope he'll join his brother again soon.

6. Epic Mickey 3

After, the return of Oswald and success of Epic Mickey, there were plans for an Epic Mickey 3, but sadly never came.

This would've helped Oswald's popularity and maybe make Epic Mickey into a TV/movie series featuring the two brothers, but at this time that's wishful thinking.

7. Milky Way and the Galaxy Girls

Created by Lauren Faust pitched to Hasbro.

The series would focus on eleven girls who are the personifications of planets. The pilot was about Milky Way accidently releasing the evil Black Hole and would meet the other girls to help fight. Sadly, it was passed over in favor of the popular My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Lauren had ragdolls and a (now out of print) book released in hopes of making it a series, she even has some concept art on her Deviantart page.

Over time Lauren redesigned the girls so hopes and wishes that it becomes a series!

8. Toil and Trouble

Created by Lauren Faust pitched to Netflix.

Lauren tried to pitch the series Toil and Trouble freaturing an orphan witch named Toil and her cat Trouble as they try to learn magic and save the witch world.

When, production for the project began Netflix decided to stop the show before it began.

SERIOUSLY, HOW DARE WHOEVER DECIDED TO CAN THIS SHOW DENY THE QUEEN HER RIGHT TO CREATE!

This so would've made a hit especially since Laurn worked on: The Powerpuff Girls, MLP:FIM, Kid Cosmic, Wander Over Yonder, and etc! But, not to worry y'all Lauren still has the rights and will most likely have it produced by someone else (hopefully)!

9. Me and My Shadow

Me And My Shadow created by Maya Forbes & Wallace Wolodarsky and pitched to Dreamworks.

Me And My Shadow follows Daniel (human) and Dan (shadow) as they two work together to stop an evil shadow from staring an uprising against shadows and humans. Along the way Dan help Daniel gain some confidence and form a friendship.

THIS FILM HAD SO MUCH POTENTIAL!

It merged 2D & 3D animation, had an amazing story, a good cast of characters; what more could you want?

Sadly, it was passed over by other films and despite protest and a petition Dreamworks refused to budge.

Not only would this film bring back Dreamworks animation department and could've been a rise for 2D animation to come back!

10. Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical

Bye Bye Bunny would be about Bugs Bunny tired of being in the spotlight and wanting the life of a regular bunny. This becomes Daffy's big break to step out of Bug's shadow and become a star only to be kidnapped by an obsessive fan of his (talk about irony). Bugs and the others go on an epic quest to save Daffy with hijanks, adventure, and heartfelt moments.

Sadly, the project was canceled which is a huge crime. The story was the perfect star wants to leave the spotlight, we could've seen more of Bugs and Daffy's friendship, and the song 'Why Do I Gotta Be Bugs Bunny' was just so heart wrenching beautiful. This would've been great to release during Warner Bros. 100 Anniversary and give the Looney Tunes franchise some more attention.

2. Shows messed up by the network but still had an ending

The Owl House

The Owl House created by Dana and aired on Disney.

The Owl House followed the story of Luz a teenage girl who has a love all things weird and magically gets sent to a 'normal' camp after one of her antics get her in trouble. But as fate intervened Luz stumbles upon the Boiling Isles and meets Eda the Owl Lady, King the king of demons, and Hooty the Owl House. To fulfill her dreams of becoming a witch Luz becomes Eda apprentice and explores the mysterious of the Boiling Isles.

The Owl House was a huge hit with fans and the LGBTQ community, and it bites that it was cancelled/shortened during season three. Dana had more ideas for season 3 for example: a beach episode, info on Hooty (don't lie we all want to know what Hooty is), and etc.

The reason the Owl House was canceled was because Disney exs didn't think it fit into their brand... What fit? They threw away a precious gemstone in the trash when they made that decision.

Dana Terrace, whatever your next project is I know it will be a success.

2. Ducktales (2017)

Ducktales (2017) created by Matt Youngberg & Francisco Angones and aired on Disney.

Ducktales follows Huey, Dewey, Louie, their friend Webby, uncle Donald, and great uncle Scrooge, as they go on epic adventures, find rare items & hidden worlds, and a long-lost family secret.

Ducktales had a great start and a huge fanbase, but sadly it wasn't getting the ratings Disney wanted, switching channels, and bad marketing.

I really wish this show continued and had each character have their own season, but it did have a good ending.

3. Danny Phantom

Danny Phantom created by Butch Hartman and aired on Nickelodeon.

Danny Phantom follows the story of Danny Fenton who gained ghosts powers after a freak accident. With his best friends Tucker and Sam, Danny uses his powers to protect everyone against evil ghosts, humans, and the horrors of high school. To make matters worse Danny has to keep his ghost identity a secret from his parents who are ghost hunters!

Despite the show's popularity it didn't reach the same goal as Fairly Oddparents or Spongebob (or so I'm told). Despite that Danny Phantom had an ending, but it was kinda a divide in the fandom.

It was said had the series continued: we'd find out more about the Ghost Zone, more characters, and most importantly: Danielle would've been adoptive by the Fentons!

4. The Amazing World of Gumball

The Amazing World of Gumball created by Ben Bocquelet and aired on Cartoon Network.

The Amazing World of Gumball follows the story of Gumball as he gets into random shenanigans in his town of Elmore along with his best friend/adoptive brother Darwin, and little sister Anais.

The show has been praised for its mixed media animation, humor, and storytelling. The last episode ended in a cliffhanger leaving many fans unsatisfied.

There were plans for a movie that Ben said would resolve the cliffhanger only for it to be shelved (along with other shows/movies) due to the HBO (HB -NO). I tried to find more information, but the only other information I found was that it 'might' still be in production and be bought by a different network. Again, I'm playing by ear.

5. Wander Over Yonder

Wander Over Yonder was created by Craig McCracken and aired on Disney.

Wander Over Yonder follows the story of a friendly alien nomad named Wander with his best friend and stead Sylvia travel all over the galaxy going from planet to planet. While on their journey they run into Lord Hater who wants to take over the galaxy.

Disney ended WOY after season 2 and there were plans for a season 3 and would've been the final season.

Craig had plans to expand the story that didn't happened (maybe even travel to Earth?); after WOY cancellation Craig went to work on Kid Cosmic for Netflix.

6. Samurai Jack

Samurai Jack was created by Genndy Tartakovsky and aired on Cartoon Network.

Samauri Jack follows the story of a Samauri named Jack and his battle with the evil demon Aku. Before Jack can defeat Aku with his sword Aku uses his powers and sends Jack into the future where Aku is the ruler. Jack travels through many lands in his search to find a way to the past, fix the future, and defeat Aku!

The only problem with the final episode was it took - 13 YEARS - to finish! Adult Swim revived the series in 2017 giving the fans a satisfying ending.

Everyone originally thought that season four that ended in 2004 would end in a cliffhanger. I guess that if it did end around the early 2000's the ending would be different since Genndy and the crew would've had other ideas. I'm happy that the series had the ending it had, but let's be honest do we really want to wait so long for a proper ending?

3. Shows messed up by the network

Infinity Train

Infinity Train was created by Owen Dennis and aired on Cartoon Network.

Infinity Train was at first a mini-series that focused on Tulip a young girl who's dealing with the divorce of her parents decides to run away from home to escape her home life. Tulip ends up on the mysterious Infinity Train and meets a robotic creature known as One-One and a strange green glowing number on her hands. Knowing the longer she's on the train the more danger she's in Tulip, One-One, and Atticus the King of Corginia, travel throughout the train to find The Conductor and send Tulip on. Afterwards we see different passengers travel the train going through different types of traumas and learning to heal.

Despite Owen having a total of eight books ( book five being Ameila's backstory), a passenger being traumatized by the train only to return on it, and even a Christmas special, Infinity Train went to HBO Max streaming service, was canceled after book 4 because execs decided it wasn't fit for kids and became one of many victims of the 2022 HBO Purge.

After much protest from the TV/FILM community Infinity Train books 1 & 2 can now be purchased on DVD (not giving up on the other books) and downloaded from online stores.

Once again, a great show canceled and destroyed by corporate greed!

2.Ever After High

Ever After High was created by Mattel books by Shannon Hale & Suzanne Selfors.

Ever After High focus on the teenage sons & daughters (and non-binary) of legendary fairy tales. The children are sent to Ever After High School to learn how to follow the same steps as their parents. But Raven Queen the daughter of the Evil Queen, isn't evil and doesn't want to follow in her mother's footsteps. On the other hand, Apple White the daughter of Snow White wants to follow in her mother's footsteps and be the perfect queen. This divides the school into two separate parties: the Royals (those who want to follow their predetermined destinies) and the Rebels (those who want to rewrite their stories) and causes a shift in the fairy tale world.

Being a toy line Ever After High relied on their doll sells to fuel the books and web series. After Disney's Descendants release Mattel knew they couldn't compete, ending the Royal/Rebel debate too early, and cheaper doll lines the series was canceled.

There were plans for more dolls, books, and sadly characters that have been seen since the beginning never got dolls.

In my honest opinion they shouldn't have ended the Royal/Rebel debate in Way Too Wonderland, that's more of a final season kinda thing and it's hard to come up with more stories after jumping the shark like that.

3.Star Darlings

Star Darlings was created by Shana Muldoon Zappa and Ahmet Zappa.

Star Darlings was a book and miniseries focused on twelve Starling girls (humanoid creatures who live on Starland) who attend the prodigies Starling Academy to learn to grant wishlings (humans) wishes only to find out they are the legendary Star Darlings destined to save their world and Wish World (Earth) from negative energy!

Honestly Star Darlings was a victim of bad advertising and Disney no giving it enough attention. The books had so much information on the characters, lore, and etc. while the cartoon only had shorts and was on random times. The cartoon had an ending, but the books were left on a cliffhanger.

4. Super Best Friends Forever/ DC Super Hero Girls (2019)

Created by Lauren Frost and aired on Cartoon Network.

I'm listing this as a two-parter.

Super Best Friends Forever was a series of shorts featuring Batgirl, Wonder Girl, and Supergirl, three superhero teens fighting crime and getting into hilarious hi-jinks.

Lauren was denied turning SBFF into a series due to marketing.

In 2019 Lauren would later do the second installment of DC Super Hero Girls another group of superhero girls who battle the evils of high school and Metropolis.

Many fans argued which version is superior.

To be honest I wish Donna wasn't replaced with Diana, Diana and Zatanna weren't de-aged along with a bunch of other adult characters, the adult heroes were mentors to the girls, could've added more teen heroes that still haven't made their TV debut, not make the guys jerks/useless, and the setting wasn't just in Metropolis. But that's just my two cents.

5. RWBY & Camp Camp

RWBY created by Monty Oum & Camp Camp created by Miles Luna and Jordan Cwierz both aired on Rooster Teeth.

RWBY story is about the four members of Team RWBY (Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang) who attend Beacon Academy to become huntsmen and huntswomen to protect the world from evil creatures known as Grimm, but as the series progresses, we learn more about the characters, lore, and world of Remnant.

Camp Camp focuses on campers (Max, Nikki, and Neil) & camp counselors (David and Gwen) who attend a shady & dysfunctional run-down camp known as, Camp Campbell. Instead of a traditional camp like space camp, sports camp, or adventure camp, Camp Campbell combines them all to save cost and avoid being sued.

While I was at school my art teacher told the class that a famous artist had died from an allergic reaction, but she neglected to tell who the artist was. Later on, I found out about RWBY and Camp Camp and while digging into the shows' history/ creators I realized Monty Oum was the artist my teacher was talking about.

Due to Rooster Teeth shutting down both series futures are in the air. I was lucky enough to meet Michael and Lindsey Jones the voice actors from RWBY and Camp Camp & a cool Oscar cosplayer LINK. I overheard him asking them when the next season for each show would come out, both replied that "I can't promise anything.", and that scared me a little. I really hope new seasons come out soon since I would hate for both series to go.

6. Invader Zim

Invader Zim created by Jhonen Vasquez and aired on Nickelodeon.

Invader Zim focused on an Invader named Zim of the Irken Empire who wants to impress his leaders, The Tallest, after failing Operation Impending DOOM 1 after he destroyed his own planet. The Tallest give him a snipe hunt by sending him to the planet Earth. On Earth Zim disguises as a normal *HA* human boy and his SIR unit named Gir as an adorable green dog as they collect info on the planet to conquer it. Unfortunately, Zim forms a rivalry with a junior paranormal investigator named Dib who tries to prove to everyone that Zim is an evil alien.

The show was very popular at the time even having merchandise still being produced to this day. The reason for the shows cancellation was due to low rating and high costs even though there were many unaired episodes.

In 2015 Invader Zim continued as a comic book series and in 2019 Netflix aired Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus. Invader Zim doesn't really have a true ending, so I guess either the comic book ending or Enter the Florpus could count as an ending, maybe?

7. Dead End: Paranormal Park

Dead End: Paranormal Park was created by Hamish Steele and aired on Netflix.

Dead End first appeared in a Cartoon Hangover short in 2014 and later became the book series in 2018.

Book and TV show follow the story of Barney, Norma, Pugsley, and Courtney who work at Phoenix Parks a haunted theme park where they battle demons, find out the mystery behind the park owner Paulina Phoenix, and maybe stop the apocalypse!

Dead End: Paranormal Park was not renewed by Netflix due to budget cuts (really, I mean really?) and Hamish planned to have the third season air on a different streaming network. While the cartoon ended with a cliffhanger the book series had an ending.

8. Detentionaire

Detentionaire was created by Daniel Bryan Franklin & Charles Johnston and aired on Teleton.

Detentionaire follows the story of Lee Ping who has pulled off the most epic prank in A. Nigma High history, but there's just one tiny problem - Lee didn't do it! Framed for a prank he didn't commit Lee has to spend a year in detention (and grounded), determined to find out who pranked him and why Lee teams up with Biffy another detentionaire and his friends to get down to what's going on and darker secrets at A. Nigma High.

Due to low ratings and not too much viewership the show ended on a cliffhanger.

I came across Detentionaire while watching Ruby Gloom on YouTube (I live in the US so there were no channels featuring the shows) lucky for me it was in the middle of season one when it was still on air and I got to watch the series (when uploaded to Youtube).

9. Sym- Bionic Titan/ Unicorn: Warriors Eternal

Sym- Bionic Titan/ Unicorn: Warriors Eternal created by Genndy Tartakovsky and aired on Cartoon Network.

I'm listing this as a two-parter too.

Sym-Bionic Titan focuses on Princess Ilana, Soldier Lance, and Advance Robot Octus who had to flee their home planet Galaluna when the evil General Modula. General Modula sends out monsters to kill Princess Ilana and destroy the royal Galaluna bloodline once and for all! When, the three combine they form Sym-Bionic Titan to battle the monsters. The three blend into Earth culture by pretending to be a family, owning a home, and going to high school to draw suspicion off them. On top of that two government parties are investigating them and their relationship to the Titan. As the three protect their new home they are trying to find a way to return to Galaluna.

I'll be honest I'm not a huge sci-fi fan, but I did enjoy the series during its run. The story and art style were amazing as well.

The reason Sym-Bionic Titan was cancelled was because it was unable to secure a toy license. Oh please, there's a bunch of shows without a toy line and they ran/ or still running. The series ended with a 'ray of hope ending' after production Genndy left Cartoon Network and began working on other projects.

Only to return in the form of Unicorn: Warriors Eternal which focus on four individuals who are the reincarnations of past warriors sent to fight an ancient evil from plaguing the world.

The series had a good old timey animation art style with the steampunk aesthetic. Sadly, it like its sibling series ended on a cliffhanger.

10. Justice League Action

Justice League Action created by Sam Register, Butch Lukic, Alan Burnett, and Jim Krieg.

Justice League Action focused on the Justice League a team of superheroes protect the world from supervillains. Each episode featured a different set of heroes defeating their foe and giving everyone extra screentime.

Justice League Action had a special when it first came out only to get bad timeslots and was never renewed.

10. Teen Titans

Teen Titans was created by Glen Murakami & David Slack and aired on Cartoon Network.

The series focused on five superhero teens known as the Teen Titans who battle evil villains both in their home of Jump City and the Earth. Their biggest threat being Slade (Deathstroke in the comics) a mysterious man bent on conquering Jump City & destroying the Teen Titans,

Teen Titans was one of Cartoon Network's successful cartoons with high praise from critics and fans it's a mystery why the show was canceled. Once fans found out that Teen Titans was threatened to be canceled there were protests to see it not happened. The reasons for the cancellation ranged from low ratings, decline in toy sales, wanting to work on other shows, and etc. I believe the show was cancelled was because the execs could (JERKS!).

There have been spin-offs of the series such as the 'Titans in Tokyo' film to act as "the ending" of the series, DC nation Teen Titans shorts, and (the infamous) Teen Titans Go series that has had many specials, a movie, and is still on air.

The things I wish that could happen in the show are: Wonder Girl was a member of the team to even the gender out (I hate that even to this day shows only have 1 or 2 girls on a team), the second season Terra still appeared but it was Wonder Girl's season (to give Terra more screen time and make the betrayal hurt more) than third would be Terra's and every season would go on as normal, Starfire having a season, and the finale season focused on everyone! But that's just my two cents.

There have been rumors of season six (maybe) happening. I mean Samurai Jack and Invader Zim came back after their cancellations. If Teen Titans were to return, it would be on Adult Swim.

To be honest the reason I made this post is because I want to pursue a career in writing, animation, and voice acting.

After the news of HBO's purge and many others, I had a major panic attack because if one greedy person could make the call to erase years and dreams of hard work no matter how popular the shows are or well known the creators are what chance did I have?

I have auditioned for many things only to be in 'always the bridesmaid never the bride' position so it gets heartbreaking after a while. But, with indie works such as The Amazing Digital Circus, Murder Drones, Spooky Month, The Art of Murder, and Puzzle & Sling: Boredom Killers getting recognized and receiving high praise it kinda gives me a spark of hope despite everything.

why you should ship diana prince (wonder woman) with hal jordan (green lantern)

i got into the ship for a silly reason: hal would want to fly diana’s invisible jet. i think it would be a dream come true for hal. and seeing how hal likes to share his passion for flying through planes… he’d love to share it with diana

looking deeper into the ship and their characters, i think they’d bring some intriguing realizations to the other. hal was spectre at 1 point, and he adorned a female form as part of his “female self” that “everyone has.” seeing no one else has had a “female side” to them or at least shown it… i think hal is lying to herself and his niece and she is transfem

with hal historically having trouble fitting into heteronormative structures (avoiding carol’s marriage proposals by creating a monster to terrorize the city instead) i think her being transfem only ADDS to that narrative. the issue is, because of toxic masculinity, he struggles to get out of those hegemonic structures. diana’s existence however, goes against these structures. be it living on themayscira, raised by a single mom, or more. it’s why she was so controversial

with how she was raised, i think she’d push hal into fighting these heteronormative structures more and give the courage. plus, hal jordan is a liar. he lies to himself, he lies to others, he lies a lot because he’s a really secretive person. put against diana, symbol of truth and justice… it creates an interesting dichotomy. with each other, they’d push the other to be more honest or more secretive—because sometimes you need to be secretive to protect the ones you love

diana is a symbol of truth and justice, what the world should be. hal is what the world is. she’s a demigod born with powers while hal is a normal human that only becomes powerful with his alien technology ring. it’s an intriguing contrast, and i think that should be explored more.

i think they’re also interesting because hal has a lot of missions out of earth, in space, because he’s a green lantern. he wants to get out from his home and struggles to stay in one place bc he loves adventure. in the same way, diana leaves themayscra to go to earth and help the women there. while wonder woman is tethered to earth, hal goes to space and beyond. both have to have diplomatic roles to some degree (with wonder woman being involved in human affairs vs hal being involved in intergalatic). they share that in common

they also have strong relationships with their mothers. i am ignoring geoff johns interpretation of hal’s mother bc i dont fw him. i like the idea of him having a supportive mother, especially amid his father’s abuse. meanwhile diana loves her mom <3 #peak tbh. also hal’s mom is jewish and he’s shown to connect to his mother’s background alot more (his father died at a young age but. still. i have a feeling he’d still identity with his jewish heritage more than catholism)

there’s alot of reasons why i ship this but. here’s some. honestly im fine with them even being just friends i just want them to interact w/ the other. hope you enjoy :)

night at the museum (j.p x fem!reader)

hi !!! this is my first pic post so please don't bully me.

pairing: james potter x reader

synopsis: your good friend james invites you to go on an "unauthorized" trip to the museum with your friends.

you knew James Potter. everyone did.

only, you had the ‘wonderful privilege’ (as he liked to call it) of being his friend. this duty of yours involved watching quidditch games you didn’t particularly care about all that much (with Remus as decent company), struggling to pay attention in class because all this kid does is talk, and, as you’ve found yourself now, going on adventures through the city outside Hogwarts.

when James first started apparating off the Hogwarts campus with Sirius, you had told him he was an idiot and that he was going to get in trouble. after the fifth or sixth time, you became intrigued. even Remus and Peter had begun accompanying them, which meant that it wasn’t entirely the wreckless free-for-all that usually followed Sirius and James around. James hadn’t ever actually invited you to go with, but he hadn’t invited Lily, Marlene, or Mary either, so maybe it was just a guy thing. regardless, you started (not so subtly) asking James about what kind of stuff they did when they went out.

“and why are you suddenly so interested?” James chuckles quietly from beside you in potions. you were supposed to be taking notes, but you had stopped listening a while ago.

“you guys always come back so talkative and happy, i was just wondering what you got up to.” you feign being nonchalant, looking up at the chalkboard for the first time in 10 minutes and scribbling something down in your notebook. you can’t let him know that he’s been the more academically productive person between the two of you.

“i mean, usually we just go to bars. we followed Remus to a few bookstores one time. Sirius found an antique shop he liked, bought a jacket there once,” he whispers back, still taking notes, “why? jealous you haven’t been invited?” he taunts, a shit-eating grin on his face.

“no. i was just curious.” you roll your eyes, but it’s no use. he knows you’re interested.

“what happened to ‘you’re going to get caught, James’ or ‘this is such a stupid idea, i can’t believe Remus is going along with it’?” he mocks in his best (worst) impression of you. you scoff in annoyance.

“nevermind, sorry i asked.” you raise your hands slightly in surrender.

“we were actually going to go this weekend. Lily said there’s a cool museum out there and Remus seemed excited. wanna go?” he finally looks in your direction, raising his eyebrows with a smirk. you can’t help the smile that creeps onto your face.

“sure. but only if the other girls are invited. i don’t want to have to babysit.” you can’t let his ego get too high, knowing you wanted to go with him. he mutters back, something between a ‘mhm’ and ‘yeah right’. the rest of the lecture goes by in silence and you can finally focus, except for the incessant thump on the leg of your chair as James swings his feet (an annoying habit you’ve grown to ignore).

by the time the weekend rolls around, the museum was all you, Lily, and Remus could talk about. apparently, it opened in the early 1600s and has roughly 20,000 paintings (statistics that Lily had found in some library book). you were more excited to get out of the stuffy castle, the fall air not quite making it through the stone walls.

James insisted upon leaving the castle at 7:00 a.m., claiming that’s the best time to apparate without McGonagall seeing you. James and Remus were at the meeting spot at 7 sharp, with you, Lily, Marlene, and Mary arriving shortly after, and Sirius and Peter getting there at 7:10. the feeling of apparating never improved. it felt as if every molecule of your being was shrunk down and shoved forwards simultaneously. even though you’re apparating by holding onto James (you have yet to learn how to on your own), you’re still terrified of getting splinched. no matter how many times he assures you it won’t happen.

you appear a few blocks away from the museum, all a part of James’ plan supposedly. as the group walks, James slows to walk beside you.

“pretty cool, huh?” that cocky grin on his face taunting a silent ‘i told you so’. he earns a gentle shove, but there’s nothing fake about your excitement. you hadn’t spent a lot of time outside of Hogwarts during the actual school year, and the fall season is certainly not disappointing. despite the early hour, there are people walking on the sidewalks in scarves and boots. some carry a warm drink in hand, and James can hardly miss the way your excitement peaks at the sight of a dog and their owner passing by. it feels more magical than the school grounds ever did.

“it’s incredible.” you reply genuinely. you can’t even think of a banter-ish comment to respond with. James swings an arm around your shoulders casually as the group is about to cross the street towards the steps of the museum.

“just you wait.” he whispers in your ear and you smile wide.

one thing you hadn’t expected from a Muggle museum was security. Wizarding museums didn’t need any, all the protective measures were covered with magic-blocking spells and tracking enchantments on every person and work of art in the building. but this museum had metal detectors and security guards the moment you walked in. even though security gave the group a long look (an even longer one at Sirius), you were able to get through without any problems. once your day passes were bought, you were off.

Lilly drags the group to go see a painting about Romeo and Juliet she had read about. it took one gross comment from Sirius about the ‘nakedness’ of Juliet before Marlene grabbed the collar of his jacket and dragged him off into another section. museum guidebook in hand, Mary leads the group to a section of landscape paintings by some artist named Francis Lynch.

“says here he completed nearly a hundred works before his untimely death in 1825 when he was bludgeoned to death by his wife...” Peter reads from over Mary’s shoulder, “cheery.”

“she probably went crazy from all the paint fumes in the house.” James snorts from beside you, earning an elbow to the ribs.

“hey! this one looks just like you, Prongs!” you exclaim to James, pointing at another painting of a doe in a meadow.

“if this is your way of telling me i’m majestic and a natural beauty, then compliment taken.”

“you wish.”

you wander off, loosely following the group through the giant rooms. you stop in front of a huge painting called Orpheus and Eurydice. it depicts Orpheus reaching for a glowing Eurydice as she’s pulled back down to Hades.

“remind me how this myth goes again?” a voice asks from behind you. you turn to see James, staring up at the painting with the same look of amazement you had been showcasing a few moments prior.

“Orpheus travels to the underworld to beg Hades to let his soulmate, Eurydice, leave and return to life. Hades agrees, but only if Orpheus can lead her out without turning around to make sure she is still following.” you explain. you had always been interested in greek mythology, and James is often nosy about what you’re reading.

“and Orpheus turns around.” he adds, “i don’t understand, though. why would Hades give Orpheus a challenge he so easily could have completed? you know, if he wasn’t a loser.” you snort.

“i don’t know. i think it’s the perfect impossible challenge. Hades knew he wouldn’t have bee able to do it if it was him and Persephone. plus, if Orpheus didn’t love her enough to turn around, he wouldn’t have loved her enough to go to Hades in the first place.” you’re both silent for a moment.

“would you? turn around, i mean. if it was the love of your life.” James air quotes that last part.

“i don’t know. would you?” you turn to face him.

“i don’t know.” he responds simply. you both pause for a moment to stare up at the painting that outdates you both by centuries. you slowly shift your gaze to the boy next to you. his hair is messy from him constantly trying to fix it everytime a girl his age walks by. his Gryffindor sweater sleeves are pulled down over his hands slightly due to the low temperature in the museum. his glasses are still slightly tilted on his face from his most recent prank that pissed off the Slytherin Quidditch captain, who then punched him in the face. Pomfrey was able to fix his nose up just fine while his messed up glasses rested in his pocket. Magic could only fix them so much, so now they fit his face all weird (you still think it’s endearing). you eventually realize that you’re staring and decide you need a change of scenery.

“come on, lets go see the sculptures. i need to see something not two-dimensional.” you grab James’ hand and take off towards a staircase going upward. you practically skip up the stairs before James has to tell you to slow down. still walking hand in hand, arms swinging obnoxiously, you two peruse through the sculptures. some are abstract, and you can see James trying to figure them out, his head tilting to the side with his tongue sticking out slightly before giving up and moving to the next. you can hear Marlene and Lily yelling at Sirius for something in the room next to you, so you head in there. turns out he had tried using a transfiguration spell on a ceramic tiger. Remus, Mary, and Peter weren’t far away, assessing some sculpture made from wood and nails. you drop James’ hand and skip over to Lily, throwing your arms around her shoulders from behind.

“how goes it?” you ask, casting an amused glance at Sirius, whose wand has been confiscated by Marlene.

“other than Sirius trying to cause a mauling in the museum and Peter nearly knocking over a multi-million dollar vase, pretty okay.” she responds, “i got to see the Ophelia painting i was interested in.” she adds excitedly.

“i showed Moony a painting of a wolf-looking creature and he was not amused.” Mary adds from her spot at the wood sculpture.

“can we just visit the gift shop already?” Sirius whines. at this point, you all had been walking around for the better part of an hour and to be totally honest, the gift shop had been at the back of your mind the whole time. after a chorus of enthusiastic agreement from everyone, Mary leads the group to the bottom floor where the shop is (she won’t let anyone else use her map). once in the gift shop, everyone disperses. Peter goes looking for the station where he can fill up a little velvet bag with tumbled rocks. Marlene finds an umbrella with the pattern of a famous painting on it. Lily and Mary find t-shirts with the name of the museum on the front and a painting on the back. Remus finds a pin to put on his bag and a set of museum postcards. Sirius gets a stuffed animal dinosaur with a museum branded backpack on it. Last but not least, you and James get matching green dad hats with the museum name embroidered on the front.

flaunting the new merch, James leads the group (with you on his back) out the doors and back into the autumn air. Mary convinces a random woman to take a group picture of you all in front of the museum on her new camera. she excitedly hands the camera to Peter to take a picture of her and Lily in their matching t-shirts before taking it back and taking a picture of you and James with your hats. despite your protests, James won’t put you back down, but insists upon giving you a piggy-back ride all the way to the café he wanted to hit up before he left.

he finally sets you down as you all enter the café. the orders are as follows: James gets one hot black coffee, Lily gets a chai latte, Marlene gets an iced green tea, Mary gets a hot earl gray tea, Peter gets an iced coffee, you get an iced matcha, and Sirius insists he isn’t thirsty but orders a chocolate chip muffin. drinks (and muffin) in hand, everyone wanders down the sidewalk towards the bookstore Remus likes which happens to be next to the antique shop Sirius enjoys. everyone splits up, Remus, you, James, and Lily entering the bookshop and the rest following Sirius. Remus and Lily disappear into the classics section while you wander towards fiction and fantasy. James follows you through the shelves, picking up random books and scanning over the synopsis before putting them back. you decide against getting anything and head outside while James checks in on Remus. eventually, James joins you and you both wait outside for everyone else to be done.

tired from all your adventures, everyone decides to apparate back to Hogwarts (Remus a few books heavier). the evening ends with everyone sat in the common room talking around the fireplace, James next to you with your legs slung over his lap as you lay against the arm of the couch.

“was that worth whatever punishment you might’ve gotten for going?” James teases to you, knowing damn well how much fun you had.

“shut up.” you retort back, not able to hide the smile on your face. James shifts a bit on the couch to grab something from Remus’ bag on the floor.

“oh yeah, got this for you,” he says casually as he hands you a hardcover book. it’s a book on the Orpheus and Eurydice myth. “figured you could figure out for yourself whether you’d turn around or not.” James’ smirk is unmistakable in the firelight. you’re not sure whether the heated feeling in your face is from the fire or from James. you flash him an appreciative smile.

“careful Prongs, someone might think you actually listen to me when i talk.” you half joke, looking over the book’s front pages.
