I'm absolutely stoked to take you on a little journey deep into the heart of our latest creation – a dice set inspired by the ferocious beauty of a volcano's wrath. 🌋

Let's embark on this tale of craftsmanship and elemental passion:

An Idea is Born

We scoured through a mountain of volcanic eruption videos and photos, and even though I've never ventured to an actual volcano, these materials made us believe that a volcano holds an infinite inner strength. It's much like most of us, right? Perhaps we haven't had our momentous eruption yet, but that inner flame and the dreams of our childhood are still burning bright, aren't they?

Molding the Myth

After poring over a volcano's worth of materials, my colleague and I have chiseled out the base molds for our dice set, each with the distinctive pattern only Mother Nature could etch. Varied as the layers of the earth, these textures stretch from peak to base, a hallmark of the great outdoors on a miniature scale.

But don't let the rugged exterior fool you. Like fitting square pegs in round holes, we've ensured that these designs hold the same density as the resin they'll marry, because in the world of D&D, balance isn't just a virtue; it's the name of the game.

Igniting the Palette

After a dozen splattered trials, we finally got the hang of bringing our volcanic dice to life – and let me tell you, it's as delicate as defusing a bomb with a feather.

You see, my hands became a living canvas, often speckled more than a Jackson Pollock knockoff. While painting, one overly enthusiastic stroke and the pigment would go rogue, flooding into canyons we never meant to explore.

Sure, real lava doesn’t play by the rules – it flows where it pleases – but here in the URWizards’ workshop, every stream of molten color is plotted like it’s got a GPS tracker on it.

But we nailed it! Each fiery path now sits exactly where we wanted, a testament to our ‘control the chaos’ mantra. The end result? Dice that look so hot, they could melt your face off – in a good way, I promise! That night, I was so jazzed up, sleep didn’t stand a chance.

Casting the Core

The last hurrah in our dice-making shindig is the resin pour – sounds easy-peasy, right? But hold onto your hats, because we're not just making dice; we're birthing miniature volcanoes here. We're going for that ‘just erupted’ vibe, aiming to bottle up that smoky after-party glow that lingers like the best kind of rumor. The goal? To have that smoggy dance, twirling up with the magma like it's auditioning for a spot in the air ballet. 🌋✨

I have never in my life watched a Hallmark Christmas movie and yet I am full of tropey Hallmark Original Movie Christmas fic plots:

Happily single late-30’s reader is tired of being hassled by their family on when they’ll get married, when they’ll have kids, etc. and complains at work about having to go home for the holidays. Out of nowhere, their handsome younger co-worker Ace volunteers (a little too enthusiastically) to join them for Christmas weekend and pretend to be their perfect boyfriend. Ace plays the part a little too well over the long weekend and dear reader might be finding themselves falling for real.

Independent bookstore owner reader is getting ready for the busy holiday season, but also finds themselves embroiled in a battle to keep the store open when big-chain bookstore CEO Crocodile demands to buy the location. It’s a battle between two hard-headed people who won’t stop until they get what they want, but perhaps they each have something to learn from each other, and they may even fall in love a little along the way. (Yes I know this is sort of like the plot of You’ve Got Mail but it’s different because I said so.)

Small-town bakery owner reader gets one last big order for Christmas week that they just couldn’t turn down, but oh no! They just sent all their employees home for the holidays because they already stopped taking orders! As reader laments their situation over a cup of coffee at the local diner, the waiter, Sanji, jokes that he’s a pretty good baker with nothing else to do, and would love to help. What sort of sparks will fly as reader and Sanji spend a weekend alone together in the kitchen? (Also yes, this is sort of like WCI but again it’s different because I said so.)

Rating Hayden Christensen movies Part 1

Thank you to @quinnsstars for the original post. I actually reblogged and added thoughts/ratings to her post but I just wanna put it in the tag in case anyone else might appreciate the ridiculous ratings and reviews lmao

Me and @jillybean1217 as we have now watched the following Hayden Christensen movies (as I’ve read in HC’s tag here on Tumblr, it’s not a Hayden flick if there’s not Tears or Tits or Both so that’s one of the Rating Categories):

Tears or Tits: Both!

I’m always going to be partial to a long on top but shaved on the sides haircut on a handsome man. Hayden is a Crusader Knight named Jacob while Nicholas Cage is a Knight named Gallain.

Hayden is so amazing in fights: super graceful in both hand to hand combat and with any type of sword. Jacob does lean towards Legolas levels of skill in this which isn’t terribly believable as he’s human, on opium (which he sticks in his mouth like it’s chewing tobacco??), and more often than not just this side of mortally wounded 😄 Yet he persists and looks so good whilst doing it. Covered in blood is a look I didn’t know i was into either, ha. The only minus for me with him was his accent went from British to Irish to Scottish, with Canadian slipping through kind of consistently.

Tears or Tits: Tears cuz he goes through physical pain and tits out cuz he bathes / has to be patched up when hurt.

Nick Cage is being Nick Cage in this so if that’s entertaining for you, you’ll be entertained when Nick pops up. Unfortunately I just remained puzzled about Crusader Knights in ancient China. Don’t think it falls under white savior though cuz dude was just trying to be on opium lol

I understand if this 1980s Tom Selleck mustachioed vibe is for someone, but it is not for me. Hayden also made a choice to make his character Don Piper - based on a real person - Colonel Sanders level Southern…which was WILD cuz we get a clip of the real pastor preaching at the end of the movie and he doesn’t have an accent, like, at all.

We have referred to this as a Jesus movie as it’s produced by a company specifically making religious movies, and Christianity might as well have top billing. I’m sure the message could be for someone, just not for me.

The dramatization of the story also was too illogical and wild for me. Tell me when State Police would tell a man to go ahead and pray for a victim and then allow this random person to walk into an accident scene, climb into a mangled car and then LAY HIS HAND ON THE CORPSE to pray for the person?!? Don was also portrayed as very selfish and almost childish cuz he couldn’t understand why God had let him into heaven only to bring him back to a lot of pain and suffering. His parents, his kids, and his wife provided no inspiration for him to get his attitude together and I found myself actively disliking him.

Tears or Tits: Tears, usually of pain, and some wild noises that out of context? I could appreciate 🤐

I love (and miss) rom coms which is what this is so I was down. I am such a sucker and a sap, I’ll watch the same plot 72 different ways (i watch all the Hallmark autumn movies every year). This is in no way original which doesn’t have to be a bad thing but this could have been done better. Tropes include: childhood friends to enemies, fck boi/sleep with everyone, rival families, leaving small neighborhood and return, 1-on-1 competition with each other.

Leo Campoli (how he’s introduced at a local fest) / Leo Campo (how the character is credited at the end of the flick) is adorable. I’m just confused by his - and everyone’s - New York accents? Cuz the film takes place in Little Italy in TORONTO CANADA! I guess everyone thought “Italian accent” somehow was equivalent to New York accent which was disappointing.

Despite being the neighborhood bicycle, Leo is sweet, helpful and thoughtful. Super adorable. And i like his dark hair, makes his eyes pop. It’s just funny that they obviously did reshoots or shot at some point after the original shoot cuz his hair is distracting in its difference

And I just love this one of him "dancing"

Unfortunately Emma Roberts plays the other romantic lead and I don’t like her as a person (mean girl and transphobe). I also found her character unlikable in her “I’m better than my home” attitude, as well as just found her devoid of charisma or charm. If I’m not rooting for both leads in a rom com, it’s not a great movie for me.

6. What do you need to write?

Non negotiable: Music that’s making my brain go brrrrrrr at the moment. For this fic, I listened to Last Christmas by Wham! over 200 times and — more embarrassingly — Watch Me Work from the goddamn trolls movie ((I was in an energetic slump))

12. Was there a scene you wanted to include but didn’t?

Yes!! Originally I was going to actually write their first date, aka ice skating in New York. I ended up scrapping that idea in favor of having more emotional vulnerability in their other scenes (bingo, tree shopping), because the progression felt more natural. Once I added more meat to those scenes, the date felt redundant and slow.

I also planned on having grandma Leclerc tell them to “stop flirting and just go on a date or whatever young folk do these days” during the tree decorating scene, but alas. It wasn’t meant to be.

20. What is something you wish more people noticed?

Honestly, this fic was designed to be very “brain off, heart open”, so there wasn’t any sort of deep symbolism I really wanted people to catch. The thing I’m glad people caught on to was the fact that — unlike a real hallmark piece — there was no misunderstanding/miscommunication plot line.

That was entirely on purpose! It felt totally contradictory to the characterization I had for Max (earnest, blunt, no secrets) and Charles (would have common sense beat into him by grandma). So I deleted that option from the jump lol

My thoughts on part one of the 2023 Christmas holiday event.

Okay so first off I have to talk about the sprite outfits. They are split into 2 types; Santa's (??) (The brothers) and reindeer (everyone else). Personally I think all the 'Santa' ones are kinda meh, prob cause some of the brothers colours are not holiday colours. The reindeer ones are adorable and fit the holiday spirit great, except Luke's. Luke's is just kinda lacking, they could have taken him out of his beret just this once. Solomon's is my favorite! It looks so comfy.

It felt like there was alot going on with this event so I probably missed some things.

Event starts off with the announcement of a holiday decorating competition to win the Krampus Star which grants a single wish. Probably my least favorite Christmas activity to do in a group lol but it's a good premise.

This turned into a hallmark movie real quick 🤣

Collecting things with everyone was kinda cute. An adorable momment between Lucifer and Beel that solidified my HC that Lucifer can't say no to picking up Beel tho hes too heavy xD Also liked that Mammon got to show a bit of his responsible older brother side! <3

The spell takes over everyone and Raphael is told to break up the fights for some reason tho he has a short fuse himself.

Then somehow everyone decides not to fight and it works?? Christmas spirit??

I was basically shaking in my boots at learning Diavolo absorbing the DDS's power was the only plan and if it goes bad the Devildom would be left without a ruler for some time. Like this is SERIOUS serious! (And also makes the plot super intresting :0)

So glad they included a conversation between Diavolo and Lucifer (tho it would have been better if I wasen't there). Diavolo gave Lucifer the new start he and his brothers needed and I know if something happened to Diavolo, Lucifer would blame himself. This conversation was needed so he could know where he stood in relation to the problem/solution if I'm making any sense.

I think I'm gonna piss myself (sorry for the crude language lol)! THANK YOU BUT GIVE IT TO BARBATOS NOT ME.

Okay, I went fictional characters with this because I just don't really get obsessed with RL people outside of like a 5 year period between 2005-2010 where I followed select actors around to other shows. Also, there's only three ladies who I can confirm fit both 'obsessed' and 'ever of all time', so I've trudged through my entire childhood for every fictional lady who's helped shape my personality to round out the list.

In Chronological Order (to me not by air date):

Margaret Houlihan (M*A*S*H) -- Oh MASH reruns on the Hallmark channel, my beloved 💚 Now, I'm primarily talking about the juicy middle seasons after Potter took over command and Loretta Swit was able to wrestle some better storylines for Margaret, but there's some gems in the early years too. I've been drawn back to MASH three times as an adult and each time I get sucked deeper and deeper into both the real life history of the Korean War and the fictional character of Margaret. Do I have a thousand and one headcanons for how she handles life after the war? Yes. Am I obsessed with whatever platonic/sexual relationship she's got going on with Hawkeye? Yes. Have I plotted out what her D&D character might look like? YEP! She's a paladin :P I also believe if you examined her character through a queer lens, you'd find a trans man rather than a queer woman, but your mileage may vary.

AndrAIa (ReBoot) -- Yeah, yeah, yeah it's a cartoon, but bb 11 year old me was absolutely OBSESSED with this show, and AndrAIa was a big part of that. Look at her little capital AI in her name! 😭 25 years before corporate greed ruined the acronym, that AI was adorable!! And very clever given that she was an NPC game sprite who decided to leave her game and live as a real sprite. Her whole existence and vibe was very formative for me. I love her.

Harley Davidson Cooper (Guiding Light) -- Yes, her full name is absolutely necessary, even if no one ever used it. So, I was SUUUCH a CBS soap girlie back around 2000-2002, and I've been very nostalgic for it in the last few years. As the World Turns was my primary soap, so I figured one of my regular blorbos like Rose or Katie or Romana would be the one I miss most. But then Harley's actress Beth Ehlers popped up during my Law & Order SVU watch and I LOST MY MIND!!!!! Her face and voice instantly filled my soul with joy! So Harley gets the trophy. Even if she didn't have any stand out storylines during that era (apart from her and Gus being Very Hot), she was always my favorite character from GL.

Piper Halliwell (Charmed, original flavor) -- Technically, I had Turtle Wexler from the book The Westing Game on this list instead because I didn't remember Piper until after I'd drafted all ten slots :S But listen! That's because health problems have made my memory shitty! It is not because Piper doesn't stand up to the test of time! Ugh, I remember the show never treated Piper like she was the fan favorite and I hadn't discovered online TV forums yet so I felt so alone in my love for her :( But being on lesbian millennial Tumblr makes 14 year old me feel SO validated, because Piper is the only Halliwell sister anyone ever talks about on my dash. 💜 Congrats everyone. We were right all along.

Lorelai Gilmore (Gilmore Girls) -- Yeeeaaah.. we've hit the Big Three that I alluded to earlier. I was very, very gay for Lorelai (and Lauren Graham) in the latter half of my high school years, and I did not realize that until way later. She taught me how to be quicker with the comebacks and, more importantly, to marry someone who could cook instead of learning how to feed yourself. And I really took that to heart. My spouse is a fantastic cook! :) (Don't get scared for me guys! I do actually know how to cook three (3) entire meals now that I'm in my 30s :P lol)

Rose Tyler/Billie Piper (Doctor Who) -- I will list the actress here, because my love for Rose Tyler is probably split 50/50 between the character herself, and Billie Piper's charisma and hotness. She's gorgeous!!! 😍 That seemingly common question in the mid-2000s of 'Who would you kiss if you were gay?' always left me stumped until New Who aired in the states. Then, I was finally able to answer 'Billie Piper' and actually mean it. Because that's what you were supposed to do with that question, right? Take it seriously and not treat it like hyperbole? #totallystraightbehavior #swearsies Alas, it would take me two more girl crushes and interacting with genuine queer women in a femslash fandom before I recognized my feelings for what they were. But Rose was still a very significant step forward!

Myka Bering (Warehouse 13) -- MY GIRL!!! My Lady of all Ladies. I would die for her. I would kill for her. I would kneel and raise my sword and swear fealty to her. MYKA FUCKING BERING, EVERYONE! 👏👏👏👏 Watching her fall in love with Helena made me realize all my girl crushes were real crushes and that I was bi. Bless her. Bless Joanne Kelly. And bless the incomparable Bering and Wells fandom. *kisses everyone on the mouth, sloppy style*

Erin Gilbert (Ghostbusters 2016) -- Look, I know that I can never get away with pretending that Erin isn't my favorite ghostbuster, but I do usually think about her in the context of her relationships! Like 8 times out of 10, when I'm headcanoning, I'm thinking about her and Abby's relationship. And if I'm not, there's a not-so-small chance I'm thinking about her relationship with Patty instead. (RIP to Holtzy who I virtually never think about outside of the foursome. Her fanbase just ruined it for me :S) But um... yeah, Erin's my favorite. I even have Pokemon parties picked out for them all. And their daemons.

Eve (Lucifer) -- Okay so I know it hasn't even been a full high school (aka 4 years) since I met Eve, so I can't really say she's someone I'll stay obsessed with forever and ever and ever. You probably don't even believe I'm obsessed with her at all given the bulk of my Lucifer talk is about Lucifer/Chloe -- but that's just cause that's where the storyline is! Trust me, Eve is my favorite character, even if she was in the least amount of episodes (RIP me). When she pops up in the background of a Deckerstar fanvid, I'm instantly distracted and have to marathon every Maze/Eve vid in my collection. I decided to use a fandom name in the first time, like, ever, when creating my Lucifer-specific Twitter account and I made it Eve themed. She's my favorite, bestest girl who can do no wrong and -- YES! -- that does include accidentally-definitely-on-purpose starting a demon mutiny that led to newborn Charlie's kidnapping. She had never been dumped before okay? First woman to ever exist and she'd never been dumped. Did you handle your first break-up well? No! I didn't think so :P

Alex Cabot (Law & Order: SVU) -- I've only know Cabot for four months, but if anything happens to her, I'll kill everyone in this room and then myself -- OH WAIT! She already left me. 😭 I am in S17 now, which is like ten seasons past when she went into witness protection and barely ever came back, yet there's not an episode that goes by where I don't think about her. So, I say that counts as longevity and am sticking her on the list. This woman has Issues. Plural. Period. She makes me say shit like 'I want to dig into her brain with a fork' and it's actually an accurate metaphor for what I feel. I love her your honor... now who can I sue for emotional damages?

I don't even really remember how the stupid thing started (I may have been drinking to get through it XD). This is going to be disjointed because I rage paused a lot and I WILL NOT be rewatching any of this to get it correct. This show doesn't care about my time so I'm not wasting any more of it by rewatching, lol.

Kris is completely useless. Like there was zero point to him being in this season at all. I was also of the mindset that he was going to be a bigger role and maybe take over for Scott but he was completely pointless. I JUST REMEMBERED HE WAS THE KID THAT SAW SKINNY SCOTT WITH THE CANOE AND THAT WAS HIS SANTA ORIGIN STORY OR WHATEVER AND I STARTED YELLING AT THE REVISIONIST HISTORY AND MY HUSBAND WAS LIKE, ARE YOU OK?! AND I WAS LIKE DO I LOOK OK?!!?!

I may be wrong, but is this the first time we've actually seen the factory floor in this whole damn show? Like we're always in Scott's office, the stables, the real world, or the monitoring room. Have they even made any toys in these TWO SEASONS?! Maybe they have and

I liked the Betty/Olga fight (but like why a fake sword?) but the way it was cut back and forth with the Mad Santa/Scott discussion was annoying

The gnomes are just pissed cause they can't make toys... that's like all it took? Feel like we shoulda figured that out sooner. Same goes for Noel just being like, hey gnomes, just come help us.

The mug is the "amulet". Ok, sure. I didn't pause the show in anger about it. Like, not only did we rewrite and destroy the magic-powered watch from 2 earlier this season now we re-wrote the mug. None of this is helped by them bringing up the damn thing 2 episodes before the end like we knew anything about it and it wasn't just shoved in at the last minute. Does each Santa have a different "amulet" (for god sake just call it a talisman or something not associated with a necklace) or do they all get their power from the same ones? Did Judy technically drug him into being Santa then. Like got him drunk on Christmas power? If it's tied just to Mad Santa then why on earth would Judy still have it if there was a coup and all that shit to get rid of the man? Wouldn't it also be locked away somewhere?

Didn't Scott say he made Cal's vest out of the coat? Maybe I misinterpreted that in the early episodes but now he's just wearing it like no big.

Laughing really hard at Scott not realizing he's been a douche until the "villain" says he is with regards to Cal. MS should just be Santa and Scott can go live at the fake Santa village with Fluffy.

Cal's gonna go to college... wouldn't he have to like, go to real school first and have transcripts and whatnot (I'm sure they'd magic it away or whatever). Also, he's not that bright so like, how's he gonna fair in higher education?

Everyone that goes on Kribble Krabble doesn't come back. I swear to god that's the plot of one of the few Hallmark xmas movies I've ever watched. But I guess that means Curtis isn't exploded. With the logic that they all Kribble and don't come back, I'm convinced that was actually Judy working in the bad xmas village which is just a sad development for her and really a downgrade from being at the Pole

So we basically end this season right where we started at the beginning of season 1. Like, Cal's not gonna be Santa and Scott's just gonna be Santa forever and never retire. Mad Santa is there now too I guess (also, there are werewolves in TSC canon... ok, sure). He's with Fluffy in the fake Santaville I guess, but whatevs

Like. The thing with adding new aspects to a character, esp 4 seasons in, is that it 1. has to make sense for the character and 2. fit in with existing canon. Take buck begins for example. That ep made everything about buck up to that point make sense, you understood exactly why buck is the way he is and reacts/acts the way he does, etc. And it all fits in with the existing canon, it doesn't alter it. It adds to it, and it brings a deeper understanding to the character. Carlos hiding a secret marriage to iris is the literal opposite of that bc that doesn't make sense for the character, and it fucks with and fundamentally alters the already established canon both re characters and plotlines/arcs. It's a complete retcon for bs/cheap drama sake and THAT'S what people take an issue with. So for tim to NOT understand that is fucking baffling on so many levels, and to then shit on/argue with fans for their reaction to his bad writing is just such a bad look. Anyway, sorry for the rant lol

Like, we’re not talking about a little oopsie or a white lie or an accident or a miscommunication that resulted in someone’s feelings getting hurt. We’re talking about a marriage. We’re talking about a legal and financial designation that has major consequences on many different aspects of life. It’s not something you just forget.

Now, at the very beginning of a relationship? Okay, sure, I can see keeping something like this to yourself, especially when it’s complicated and it’s personal. But as soon as you start getting serious with someone about the future? As soon as you reach a point where your partner is making decisions about their life, their finances, their future—decisions where your own legal and financial status becomes directly relevant because it will impact them—you cannot in good faith allow the person you claim to love to make those decisions when they’re operating under such a severe misapprehension. It’s a complete removal of agency, it’s a huge breach of trust, and it, frankly, demonstrates a lack of respect, none of which are hallmarks of a good relationship.

Idk, maybe it’s just because I’m a queer adult who has had to think seriously about things like taxes and assets and estate planning and advance directives and financial management and has also had to think about the pros and cons and issues that arise when you bring up those things in a relationship (before and after marriage) and the different choices you can make to protect yourself, but I just…it’s a big deal. And going into that blind because your partner has lied to you about something as fundamental as whether they’re legally responsible for a whole other person who isn’t you is a big deal. Tbh I don’t think I could continue being in a relationship with someone who had done that to me, no matter how much I loved them—that’s how big of a deal it is. And that’s what I’m reacting to, and what I imagine most other people (and especially most other adults) who are reacting negatively to this plot are reacting to. That it’s something so familiar and that touches so many aspects of real life that it’s too hard to just suspend disbelief and shrug it off and say sure it’s nbd.

March 2023 Reading Review

The Kingdom of This World, Alejo Carpentier: no idea what happened in this book. it’s a respected hallmark of Latin American magical realism but I just found the writing style too hard to follow and I don’t think I had the background to get what’s going on.

Murder on the Orient Express, Agatha Christie: a fun, brisk page-turner, as Christie generally is. I already knew the answer to the mystery but that didn’t take away from the entertainment—it was neat to see how everything came together. My second Christie but my first Poirot and he is absolutely her little meow meow.

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, Marie Kondo: i read it to motivate myself to unpack / clean lol, and it helped. Take the advice that helps you and discard the rest. Very simple and accessible book, and I like that it doesn’t try to motivate you by shaming you.

The Art of Death, Edwidge Danticat: my 3rd danticat book. short and moving book about her mother’s death and various literature on death and dying. danticat’s style is very simple but also so poignant without being melodramatic. I enjoy her taste in books as well.

Peaces, Helen Oyeyemi (favorite of the month): my fourth oyeyemi. very lighthearted and cute, even romantic, although there’s a few unsettling parts. she clearly had a lot of fun writing this. The ending is disappointing, but the journey there is a lot of fun. it’s a book about a gay couple on their honeymoon on a whimsical train with their pet mongoose, that’s just delightful. She’s one of my favorite writers and I really respect her range!

Annihilation, Jeff VanderMeer: fun sci-fi horror! Not nearly as mind-blowing as expected, more of a “haha wouldn’t that be so fucked up if it happened” exploratory type of book, but the writing style is very atmospheric without being dense and the worldbuilding interests me enough to pick up the sequels. It’s also a quick read, less than 200 pages and I got through it in one sitting

Artificial Condition (Murderbot Diaries #2), Martha Wells: this series is literally pure joy in novella form. Plot is as usual just okay, but murderbot’s dynamic with ART is the real highlight and introducing ART was such a smart narrative choice, as it really challenges murderbot to reflect and grow.

Revenant Gun (Machineries of Empire #3), Yoon Ha Lee: a satisfying conclusion to an enjoyable trilogy. I miss Jedao and Cheris already. The world of this series is truly so vast and 3 books was barely even a glimpse into it, but that glimpse was so much fun. Lee’s writing style is really unique and sometimes it gets tiring, but it’s a privilege to see his mind at work.

It's the Hallmark anon again, just googled it and the movie is called Timeless Love (2019). Her dream husband is called Thomas and they had two kids. Then, she wakes up from the coma and has a hard time letting go from that from her dream. Afterwards, she meets Thomas in real life because he is her new boss and she already knows so much about him because his personality&characteristics from the dream are exactly the same in real life. It does sound a little bit like Just Like Heaven with the whole coma plot now that you guys mentioned it lol

This holiday season… how does your MC feel about Hallmark movies? Does she like them? Does she watch them to make fun of them? Or doesn’t she like them at all? If she does like them…does she force Ethan to watch them or does she enjoy them on her own? Any favorite?

Serena is a sap at heart - she loves watching those super sappy, romantic movies and reading those types of books 🥺 it makes her feel all fjdoafhaof inside.

Are they a good escape? Yes. Does she know they're unrealistic and that would never happen in real life? Yes. Does that stop her from pretending? No lol

She enjoys them on her own when Ethan isn't around (he's working late or their shifts don't match up, etc.), but she will make him watch them with her - he never used his TV before her, it was more a decoration item than anything, so he always lets her pick what they watch. He'll begrudgingly agree to these and it's always a toss-up between if he'll actually pay attention while poking holes through the plot throughout, reading a book and feigning attention, or teasingly saying the super cutesy stuff they say in the movie to Serena in a deadpan way and causing her to cry from laughter 🤗

I don't think my brain actually did survive it completely. Please know the few fics I did manage to finish reading absolutely 100% helped me keep what little sanity I have left. So, authors? Can't Buy My Love, Can Buy Me Dinner by @ladyaj-13 / LadyAJ_13 (10k, G, Harry/Louis, Uni AU, Enemies to Lovers, kind of, flashbacks, Zouis friendship, This fic is so fun and simple but also not at the same time, the emotions and motivations for everyone is so complex and real, it makes it so what could be an easily cliche and silly fic actually has so much depth and heart to it, I can't even begin to explain just please read it)

Until That Day by @kingsofeverything / kingsofeverything (45k, E, Harry/Louis, Big Bang fic, Runaway Bride AU, Enemies to Lovers, Established Narry but endgame Larry, Newspaper Columnist Louis, Baker Harry, Sarah and Mitch are Harry's best friends and omg I love them SO MUCH in this fic, The secondary characters bring so much color and flavor to this if that makes sense, The adaptations that were made to update the movie and make it British were incredible, I loved them so much and appreciated the adjustments that were made, it made it so Harry and the fic had more depth and a bit more realistic resolutions, plus harry's family was a larger part of it and his nan omggggg, anyway i devoured this fic in a night instead of sleeping so, a+ 10 out of 10 would recommend)

The Rest Of My Life by @reminiscingintherain / reminiscingintherain (11k, M, Niall/Bressie, Heartbreak Weather fest, Song Fic, Based on Black and White, meet cute, age difference, size difference, Canon Compliant for the most part? I think?, Flirting, It kind of is a very sweet set of vignettes capturing moments of their relationship from the day they meet through until they're much older and settled down, It was so soft and gentle and I loved how Bressie was written as well as how determined Niall was, looooved it)

Don't Hold Back by @jacaranda-bloom / jacaranda_bloom (15k, E, Niall/Harry, Heartbreak Weather fest fic, Song Fic, Based on Cross Your Mind, Famous/Non-Famous, Pop Star Niall, Fan Harry, Banter, Fluff and Humor, This fic was so soft and so much fun to read, and she somehow made it so the fan/singer scenario actually felt realistic???, it was really impressive and so fun)

ahh i mean i mean maybe it's just cause it's late (i'm gonna queue this) and i'm tired but tbh there are....so many scenes i've found hard to write. like.

and tbh, i think it's normal. i really do, but i feel like i second guess every scene, every action sometimes.

a few that stand out are the entirety of like: the last few chapters of use my body (because i had always sort of known that's what i wanted to do with the plot, but i had no outline, so it felt like i was winging it.)

the first chapter of time & tide where i'm trying to describe the way an unexpected death of your everything feels. i think i rewrote that chapter three times before i decided to just make anakin numb & speechless tbh

and then honestly!! turn back now! i'm not super good at description, which i think is a hallmark of horror, so i've really struggled with that fic (which is why it's a wip, let's be real lol)
