I know that Lena and Kara fight after Lena discover she's Supergirl and I've seen a lot of people say they were drawing comparisons between SG Lena and SV Lex (often used as an argument against supercorp) but like, I'm not here to talk about supercorp or Lena or wtv but this oversimplification of Clark and Lex relationship in Smallville is ... not for me (and not only because I do ship it), because Lex and Clark didn't fight because Clark lied to Lex, actually, discovering Clark's secret is the last thing Lex does before fucking dying.

Yes, Lex felt entitled to Clark's secret, every time Clark lied Lex wanted to make him suffer because he was lying and Lex wanted to KNOW and they were friends and they should be honest to each other yada yada yada (all the while Lex lied too) and while yes, this is one of the factors they friendship broke apart and Lex do say if Clark trusted him they would've been great together.... this isn't the main factor? We don't see Lex crying and saying he hates Clark because he's a liar, what we see is Lex's growing envy starts to make him stop seeing Clark as someone he should admire and instead someone he wants to take everything from. And we see it getting worse and worse as Lionel start growing closer to Clark and always talking about how Clark is a oh so special boy and how Lex should be ASHAMED for not being like Clark who is a very special boy did I say that yet? Lex you need to listen to me talking about how I wanted Clark to be my son it's Very Important that you do!

I can see why people would think Lex hated Clark only because of the secret issue as Lex is always telling Clark how he never forgives those who lie to him (as an attempt to make Clark tell him his secret? Bald man has no concept of social interactions and ends up causing the reverse of what he wanted to achieve, congrats bald man you're very smart) and in their final scene in s7 Lex does say Clark should've trusted him but that's not why Lex tries to kill Clark, he tries to kill Clark because he thinks Clark is a dangerous alien invader and he's like "honestly you deserve this ngl you're kind of a piece of shit :/" but in their other conversations after Lex turns Evil, and even one that happens before this one what Lex focuses on? How he feels glad that Clark is not human because that means Lex couldn't ever win this competition anyways, how he wanted everything that Clark has because Clark has a perfect family and a perfect girlfriend, and when clone!Lex happens in s10 and their conversation in the finale there's almost (and I say almost because I can't remember if there was even one) no talk about how Clark lied to him, instead we get again the competition issue and how Clark stole Lionel from him, when he already had a perfect dad and didn't need Lex's in the first place.

Like, if we look at their relationship, their mutual lying and distrust drove them apart (especially after Clark discovered Lex's Clark shrine -- I mean, secret room and Lex also grew more and more tired of Clark's bullshit not well thought lies until he couldn't take it anymore) and later on Lionel made sure (I'll never be convinced it wasn't on purpose lol) that Lex felt even more inadequate near Clark, which made his hate grow. Clark could never agree with Lex's human experiments either, and Lex always targeted Clark were it hurt the most after their Official Break Up ("stealing" Lana, saying Clark could never save him anyways) .

Like if we analyze it there was a thousand of little things that grew into a thousand of big things until it exploded, you can't point to one thing and say that was the reason because there simply not one, instead we get a lot of major points that culminates in Clark storming into Lex's office in s5 and even THEN their relationship doesn't complete fall apart until Lionel gets himself in the middle (and we see them caring for each other until late s7 where ... Lex fucking dies).

Anyways Clark & Lex in Smallville had a brotherly bond and I think it's interesting that they have a kind of brotherly schism, especially with Lex's fixation on competitions.

I'm glad that their adapting the new Sups storyline about his change in tag line but I thought the people in the submarine where Japanese but I can see the DoD being mad about them being from NK. (Also, it's funny that this makes Sg look inexperienced because she never distanced herself from just the US while the make sure to portrait sups as a hero of the world which is reinforced by the fact that he was always in another country when she needed help. I mean, it depends on the ship, I guess?

But in general, superhero television has sort of veered away from quote-unquote internal drama in romantic relationships, at least the kind that makes a couple very ~will they/won't they~, by nature. Part of it is that I feel like TPTB on superhero shows are less concerned with romance. Like fanboys want to whine about romance, but none of the current CW DCTV shows, for example, had the amount of romantic shake-ups and romantic drama that Smallville did back in the day, especially in its first six seasons or so.

Like ships on Arrow had far more internal relationship drama, and a lot of it indicative of TPTB on that show having zero idea how to write relationships.

I feel like Flash bucked the initial "trend", if you can call it that, because we're like... talking third show down the line, here, lol, but it was very clear it was Westallen from the start, and Barry and Iris weren't operating from a place of initial distance, so to speak. Like in Smallville, Clark and Lana weren't in the same social circles, Clark had a crush on Lana, but he kind of keeps his distance because "high school social hierarchy" (which like never made much sense because most characters were either in love with Lana or Clark or both of them) and also her kryptonite necklace. When Lois came in, the show used Clark and Lana’s ongoing will they/won’t they to also drag out Clois. Regarding Arrow, Laurel and Oliver are exes, and Laurel has a lot of rightful anger towards Oliver for the way he treated her and the fact that he cheated on her with her sister. But Flash, Barry and Iris don't have any so-called walls of inaccessibility. There's the fact that Barry keeps being the Flash a secret and the fact that he's been in love with her his whole life, but hasn't told her, but that doesn't really alter the fact that they're both absolutely committed to like constantly seeing each other and providing love and support to one another. Barry admits to Iris that he's in love with her, and she's still wiping ketchup off his lips, because she's in love with him also, but also because it doesn't change her comfort level with him after she processes what he's confessed.

Anyways, I'm being a bit tangential, but my point is that romantic drama in Flash was very minimal in comparison to the preceding shows that I had mentioned, and because Barry and Iris had such a powerful bond right from the beginning, from a story-telling standpoint, it made sense to just build on that, showcasing the story of their steadfast love. And given that Barry draws his strength and heroism from his love of Iris, portraying their love story as the gold standard is pure excellence. Like Westallen have had minimal internal relationship drama, the vast majority of it being in season 1, when they weren't officially together. When they have disagreements, they always come back to discuss them healthily and apologize and reaffirm their love for each other. Because that's what health couples in love do. So, the way Flash has kept stakes high, so to speak, is to like put them through the trauma of being dimensionally separated or having to find their way back to each other, when they are physically separated from one another. Which is meant to obviously strengthen their love story and demonstrate the lengths that they would go to get back to each other. After awhile though, it gets exhausting... like just let them be happy and stop putting them through the trauma of being physically separated constantly.

But I think the problem with Flash, quite frankly, is TPTB lacks interest in romance, hence why the vast majority of the secondary ships are as... poorly written as they are. Part of me is confused, because Flash has the most steadfast, iconic love story in Westallen, and yet theirs is the only love story that TPTB could write well. And the show is inherently romantic, because of how good Westallen’s love story is and how their love story anchors the show. But also TPTB have simultaneously shortchanged Westallen in terms of scenes that emphasize their romance, especially in the last few seasons. The vow renewal honestly felt like it was a scene from a different season, not season 7, because the last time we had that level of romance, where Westallen are together and happy and celebrating their love, was like... I cannot even remember.

Supergirl had a different approach, where after completely backtracking on James/Kara, who had a nice build-up in season 1, decided to pair Kara with Mon-El, but then backed out of that relationship. There was run-of-the-mill romantic drama for both ships, especially Kara and Mon-El, and simultaneously, time spent on these ships didn't demonstrate commitment in the writers' room. Subsequently, the choice was to just have Kara be single, and honestly, I chalk this up to the SG writers having zero interest in romance, certainly for Kara. Even with Brainy/Nia, while they have some sweet moments, I don't feel the investment in the writers' room to write for them. However, I do think the SG writers really care about Dansen; this season, especially, I feel that they have shown genuine investment in Kelly and Alex's love story, and I think that's why Dansen is essentially the central ship of SG. I think part of it is that Azie and Chyler really spun gold together, and the SG writers wanted to write more for Dansen, which is why we've gotten such a beautiful, consistent love story in Kelly and Alex.

Black Lightning... well, the BL writers did great with Jefferson and Lynn in season 1, in terms of building back their love story, and the electric kiss is still one of my favorite scenes, but then completely dropped the ball on that relationship. The writing for Jefferson and Lynn started focusing on their disagreements, many of which are demonstrative of two people who no longer loved each other. Only to turn around at the last minute and have Jefferson and Lynn get remarried, even though this was not earned, because the writers refused to continue building their love story and instead seemed to showcase the relationship falling apart. I adore Thundergrace, but the BL writers never gave Anissa and Grace their due. They didn't even properly focus on Anissa and Grace during their own wedding reception, and Thundergrace milestones were often rushed. When Anissa and Grace had a disagreement, the writers would not address it, and the next episode, it would be as if nothing had happened. I would argue that the love story that the BL writers showed the most investment in was Khalil and Jen in season 2, but a big reason for that was to be a catalyst for Jen coming into her powers in season 2B. Plus, while they had chemistry, I didn't ship it, because at the time, it wasn't a healthy relationship for Jen. But yeah, I would say the BL writers had a distinct disinterest in writing romance.

So yeah, I mean, I guess the bottom line is that it depends on the show and the ship, but I would say the trend lately is less romantic drama, but also less focus on romance, in general, on superhero television shows.

let's be honest here, they're obviously gonna give lois a really good storyline in the first season. remember when they used to respect kara in sg? yeah, that was only in s1 imo. they ruined her character since s2, especially after moving to the cw. they're gonna give lois a good storyline now, but will eventually ignore her later on. especially with the amount of misogyny coming from the show and showrunners, we shouldn't be surprised if they forget who she is later on in the show (assuming it gets renewed for lots of seasons, which i think will happen no matter how bad the reviews are because sm is their babyboy). tbh the show is mostly gonna be watched by the dude bros since lots of people already gave up when they found out about the racism happening bts (and now because of misogyny and many other shitty things). and if anything, most of the dude bros are definitely not gonna want to watch any kinda rep/activism focused storylines. most will want him to be a proud american boy.

When I was looking for the Todd Helbing quote - and if anyone wants to link me to some articles where his/the show’s misogyny is overt, please do so because the thing about SM being guardian of the world wasn’t it - I stumbled upon an Angry Fanboy’s blog; he is just so mad at all the CW superhero shows for being too politically correct and being run by SJWs who pollute their series with ‘politics’ and catering to liberal snowflakes. He’s going to be Even Angrier if Superman & Lois goes down that path!

I agree SML is likely to get several seasons, and the network is doing everything it can under pandemic circumstances to launch it with a lot of fanfare. But most casual viewers don’t follow writers on twitter or the blogs that covered Nadria’s statements. Most people don’t know anything about this kind of bts discourse and will just watch the show every Tuesday night and judge it on that basis. 

They’re obviously going for a broad, family audience and will have storylines to appeal to different age groups and demos, which makes sense as a strategy and seems to be what got them the green light to go ahead with this version of Clark and Lois. Hopefully Lois is equally well developed and has rich storylines the way we expect Clark and his sons will ... the fact that they switched out the daughter to make it two sons .... hmmm. I guess they figured Lana’s daughter would suffice?

it's depressing, but I think the writers of sg truly started being excited more about the twists than the characters and more about the potential of Lena and all the stuff they can do with a morally grey (or straight up dark) character and how Kara will *respond* to it, than about Kara and her arc + think most of the viewers want it&got bored of Kara. Kinda like in ouat they bought that Lana/Regina was the best because of her loud fandom and thought that people would watch a season without Emma

and failed because nope, the main character was actually beloved and Lana's fans were simply loud and obsessive (and Lana's character was also ruined by it). They still wrote about Emma thankfully, but in SG it seems like it was already a little hard to keep balance for them and now... I just have no faith in them wanting to write a full complete arc for Kara, wanting to focus on her, because they have so much more fun writing Lena and Lex, and whatever comes to mind at the time with no planning

Let’s start that they don’t really have an idea or plan to what to do with Kara. What is her real character development and growth for the past two seasons? She is more mature because she wears more mature clothes? She is amazing reporter who won Pulitzer, too bad we haven’t seen that evolution. 

Red Daughter storyline, instead on focusing on Kara, was about Lex and Luthors. The potential of her was totally WASTED.

Kara’s inner conflict about being human Kara Danvers and alien Kara Zor El? Being an alien immigrant on Earth? Totally wasted, not approached aside of the s4 when she marched as Kara Zor El with other aliens and their supporters. But where is the inner struggle? When it fits the narrative, she is the alien, when it fits the story, she wants to be Earth and doesn’t even remember her mother still lives. 

Whole Argo storyline? HER storyline? Wasted, ignored, given to Kal.

s5? Being portrayed as an abuser, traitor and the bad guy, while her real abuser acts like a victim, trashes her and treats her like SHIT. Kara’s story circles, as you said, around other characters. What we see now, her struggle to tell people or not, start a relationship or not - we aleady seen that. We and Kara should have been over it already. The circumstances were different, but still it’s similar story.

And seriously: reporter career, Luthors, RedDaughter, William aka Lois with British accent - this is Supergirl or Superman show?

The problem is, Kara is the  main character, theheart AND the soul of the show. Other characters should circle around around her and HELP her being the main hero. Not the other way, where I wonder when the show changed the main character and is called now SuperSnowflake.

So I also have Kristen Kreuk as my Lana in my head. I usually have Lex as Lee Pace because that got put into my head forever ago and won’t leave. But It can be whatever - just know he has hair. 

I haven’t watched Batwoman yet. I’ll be getting to it soon enough, but as far as anyone specifically making it into STN, probably not as the next chapter is effectively the epilogue.

Ship Meme

First ship you ever read fic for: Is it weird that I’m having trouble remembering this? I know the first fandoms I dipped my toes into fanfic-wise were LOTR and Stargate SG-1, but I never really shipped anything from either of those. I guess the first pairing that got me invested enough to read fic was Stargate Atlantis’ Weir and Sheppard (not to be confused with Shepard from Mass Effect; why is that such a popular fictional surname?)

First ship you ever wrote fic for: I think that was also Sheppard/Weir from Atlantis. I didn’t write more than a fic or two in that fandom, but it was enough to get the ball rolling. 

Ship you write the most now: Currently I have fanfic largely on the backburner while I work on original writing. It may be a stretch goal at best, but I’d like to get my novel finished and semi-polished in time to enter the Pitch Wars writing mentorship contest, which has a late-August deadline. Sadly that doesn’t leave much time for fanfic. But prior to this original writing push, the pairings I wrote the most were Jyn/Cassian (in my multichapter fic which I will finish eventually) and, taking a glance through my writing tag on Tumblr, Aloy/Erend in prompt-fics. That makes me quite happy, because how can you not love a ship whose canon dialogue includes 

Him: “All the way to Meridian just to see me?”

Her: “Have you been drinking?!”

(spoiler alert: yes. he has.)

Ship you read the most now: I haven’t had much fic-reading time either for the previously mentioned reason. But one fic I have been working my way through as time permits is Equivalent Exchange, an epic length *mumble mumble mumble* Theron Shan/F!Imperial Agent fic. I blame @thievinghippo for reccing it. :p 

Newest ship: *sulkily points to above answer* Two months ago I didn’t like any characters Troy Baker had voiced, and everything made sense. Then I fell head over heels in love with his character in The Last of Us, and my whole world did a 180. I learned to love Theron Shan, who previously annoyed the hell out of me, and started shipping him with my Consular. I picked up Uncharted 4 (which came free with my PS4 when I bought it two years ago and had been sitting untouched in my living room ever since) and went googly-eyed over TB’s character in that too (Sam Drake). Then I played Uncharted: The Lost Legacy--which is awesome btw, basically all about two WoC and their friendship--and started shipping Sam and Nadine hardcore, because hellooo enemies to grudging colleagues to...risking their own lives to save each other? GIMME THAT UST. So yeah, my newest ship is pretty much Troy Baker’s characters/everyone. Except Kai Leng. Kai Leng can still rot in hell.

Rare ship you wanna read more of: Obviously Nathaniel/Velanna, my classic answer to this question. Also Sam/Nadine, which at ten fics on AO3 is even rarer than Nate/Velanna. Probably just means I’m going to have to write my own. Sigh. 

Your taboo ship: I don’t think I have one. My ship tastes tend to be pretty vanilla, honestly.

They never met in canon ship: Not romantic, because one of them is underage, but I think it would have been cool if Bodhi Rook and Sabine Wren had ever met, since they were both Imperial defectors who played significant parts in the Rebellion. Also they both have four-letter last names that refer to a type of bird. Not that that means anything. 

Your unexpected ship: *sighs loudly* YES THERON, I LIKE YOU NOW. Doesn’t mean I forgive you for always giving Lana a hard time, though.

The ship you always forget to give love to: Most of my Old Republic ships in general, really. For example, I love the Trooper/Jorgan romance, but I’ve never written a single thing about them. I’ve barely written anything for Bounty Hunter/Torian either, which is another of my faves.

Ship your OC with a canon character: Do my BioWare ships count?

A ship you’re embarrassed to ship: I don’t think I have any. Ship and let ship, man. 

Your most romantic ship:  I think it’s Shepard/Garrus, really. Not much compares to the scope of their journey across three games, topped off with how satisfying their scenes were in ME 3 and Citadel. For all BioWare’s faults, I will forever be grateful to them for giving all us weirdo xenophiles the love interest we asked (and asked, and asked) for. 

Your sexiest ship: It may sound weird to say Jyn/Cassian given that they never even kissed. (Stupid canon.) But the way that they looked at each other. The eyesex was real. So was the utter lack of personal space.

Your most tragic ship: Also Jyn/Cassian. It doesn’t get much more tragic than dying in each other’s arms. (I reiterate: stupid canon. Thank goodness for fic.)

A ship you want more content for: All of them.

Watching old MacGyver I was reminded how jarring treating female characters used to be. Most of them are just uninteresting characters of the week who serves only either plot or as drive for main character`s actions, in worst case as a comic relief. I think MacGyver is otherwise great series, even though little dated, but this one aspect alone lowers its quality by two degrees, imo.

It`s not just MacGyver, but I imagine most shows from that time period. A couple of years ago I watched on TV reruns of Renegate. I remember one of the things that grated on my nerves was love interest of the week or kissing girl of the week. I was so glad when Hollywood dropped off this practice in the second half of nineties.

Bright exception for this trend was Dempsey and Makepeace which ran 1985-1986 in Britain. Show has had strong and competent female lead who was equal to male counterpart. Another show was Cagney & Lacey, but I never saw that one, so I can`t comment.

There was also British TV mini series Anna Lee. I liked that one a lot too.

One of the first TV obssession I had was Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman where both male and female characters were more or less equal. I was about 12 at that time and loved how strong, smart and independed Lois was.

Then folloved Xena. I realized this only much later, because kid accepts everything without much question, but Xena was really groundbreaking with how many strong, independed, well developed female characters were in one single show. Xena, Gabrielle, Callisto, Alti, Cyrene, Ephiny, Amarice, Lao Ma, Eve, Cyane and many more. Every single one has strong story which is uniquely their own. And if you`re able to close your eyes on those rare occassions when writers had a wtf moment, all characters preserved their integrity to the end. There was also a male comic relief ;).

After that, strong female characters weren`t such rarity. There was Nikita and Madeline (La Femme Nikita), Buffy, Willow (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Charmed, Sam Carter, Janet Frasier, Vala (Stargate SG-1), Elizabeth Weir, Teyla, Jennifer Keller (Stargate Atlantis), Sydney Bristow (Alias), Chloe Sullivan, Lana Lang (Smallville) and many many more. It truly looked like at the turn of 2000 the shows were swarming with strong female character. Since then every TV show had at least one female lead who is well defined and developed character.

How far Hollywood has come since eighties when you had to search for decent female character with magnifying glass, and now we have shows where are both leads women like Rizzoli and Isles or such complex characters like Helen Magnus.

“Receiving IDC. It’s the Doctor. Wait, receiving another IDC, SG-1!”

“Open the Iris.”

Harriman opened the Iris. “Receiving a signal, sir.”

“SGC, do you read?” Mitchell asked.

“We read you, Colonel,” Landry said.

“We’re going to bring the TARDIS back through the gate. Be prepared for possible high speed impact, sir.”

“High Speed impact?” Landry asked.

“Apparently when they arrived, here the TARDIS ended up over a kilometre from the gate.”

“Noted,” Landry said. He turned to Harriman. “Deploy the shock nets.” He then told Mitchell that the preparations would take about 5 minutes.

“We’ll be ready, Mitchell out.”

“Five minutes?” the Doctor asked from the TARDIS doorway.

“Yes,” Mitchell said from where he stood next to the DHD.

“That gives me enough time to prepare the TARDIS for a second trip.”

Five minutes later, the SGC signalled that they had the preparations in place.

“Ok, We’re ready as ever. Everyone hold tight!” the Doctor said. He then set the TARDIS in motion...

The SGC

The TARDIS emerged from the gate at a high speed. It crashed into the shock nets. The shock nets were thus strained, but they held, the TARDIS having come out of the gate at a lower velocity than it had on Tiloana.

The TARDIS fell to the floor and landed on its side. The Doctor opened the door, and clambered out onto the floor. He then helped his companions, Lana and the SG teams out.

The Doctor entered the control room. “As you can see, I rescued SG1 from the Ori ship,” he said.

“Very good. There will be a debriefing in fifteen minutes. Be there,” Landry ordered

“I could be gone before you know it,” the Doctor said.

“I doubt that. I would like to have your point of view of the rescue,” Landry said.

“I will be there.”

“I want to go back to my world!” Lana said stubbornly as she entered the briefing room.

“In a while Ms. Halaia. First I want to know exactly what happened after SG1 and the Doctor’s companions arrived on your planet,” Landry said.

“Sure,” Lana said.

Everyone took their places in the crowded room. “Dr. Jackson, I believe you made some discoveries in an abandoned library.”

“Yes,” Daniel said as he launched into his description of the discoveries he and Felicia made.

An hour and a half later, the Doctor and his companions exited the briefing room. “We are attempting to re-enter our universe now?” Felicia asked quietly.

“Yes, after Lana returns to her world. I would like to have a talk with her,” the Doctor replied.

“Sure,” Felicia said in a quieter tone.

Tamsin noticed the quiet tone. “We’ll return soon enough,” she said as she placed her hand on Felicia’s shoulder in a gesture of comfort.

Walter was getting ready to re-dial Tiloana as the Doctor and Lana entered the control room. “You are returning home,” the Doctor stated.

“Of course, I must do what I can to protect my people against the Ori and any remnant Goa’uld.”

“I must repeat that your strategy of running away from your enemies will not work forever.”

Lana rolled her eyes. She had heard the same argument from the Doctor over and over again during those two months aboard the TARDIS. “And I say again, that it will.” She turned to Walter. “Start the dialing sequence.”

“I have to wait for Landry’s order, Ms. Helaia.”

Lana sighed. “I’m ready to go.”

Walter keyed the intercom. “General Landry to the control room.”

Lana turned around and realised that the Doctor had left. ‘I guess he is going to leave before I do,’ she thought.

General Landry entered the control room. “Yes, Walter?”

“Ms. Helaia is asking to return to her planet, Sir.”

“Of course. Dial the gate,” Landry said.

“Aye, Sir.”

“Goodbye, General,” Lana said.

“Remember what we discussed,” Landry said.

“Of course,” Lana said.

Lana saw the companions around the TARDIS as she entered the debarkation room. She waved goodbye.

“Chevron five encoded.”

“Bye, thanks for the help. Even if we did get captured,” Tamsin said.

“Thanks.”

“Chevron six encoded.”

“Hope things go well,” Kiara said.

Lana just gave a non-committal shrug. “Bye,” she said, as she came up to the front of the ramp.

“Chevron seven, locked!” the gate opened. She then ran forwards and jumped through the gate.

Once the gate shut down, the Doctor emerged from the TARDIS. “Time to go,” he said.

“Finally,” Felicia said.

TARDIS in Flight

“We have left the SGC and are now heading back to our universe,” the Doctor said.

“Are you sure?” Felicia asked.

“Yes, I have done this before,” the Doctor said.

“I’m sure that we’ll return to our universe, Felicia,” Tamsin said.

“I’m sure you’re right. I’ll be in the library,” Felicia said.

“Ok,” Tamsin said.

Later Tamsin found Felicia in the library, near the entrance. “The Doctor says that we have re-entered our universe,” she said.

Felicia smiled. ”Good.”

“He has plotted a random course.”

Felicia nodded. Then the Cloister Bell began to ring.

“Uh, oh!”

Kiara was reading in the console room. She noticed the destination display change.

Trenzalore.

The display changed again.

Earth Orbit, early 2005.

‘This is too weird,’ Kiara thought as she took one of the Doctor’s notepads and started writing down the destinations.

Kiara had just written Pharos Project, Earth when the Doctor reentered the console room. “The TARDIS is going all over the Milky Way, Doctor.”

“She is?” the Doctor asked.

“It’s aiming all over the galaxy in any case, including two places with restricted information.”

“Where was those?”

“The Fields of Trenzalore and the Medusa Cascade,” Kiara said. She wrote UNIT Headquarters, 1973.

“The former is where I regenerated last.”

“What about all these other places?” Kiara asked, placing the list into the Doctor’s hands.

The Doctor’s face paled... “These are all places where I regenerated, in reverse order...”

“They are, and the TARDIS is about to select the final one.” They looked at the diplay.

Antarctica, 1986

They waited.

Intercept course plotted

“What?”

“What did you expect, Doctor?”

“Gallifrey, or rather, my initiation at the Temporal Schism.”

“Oh,” Kiara said. The Cloister Bell began to ring. “Something’s happening!”

The Doctor leapt to the console, dropping the list. “An anomaly, similar to the one Felicia arrived through, is near the library.”

“Is she returning or going further back?” Kiara wondered, leaping to the same conclusion that the Doctor had.

“No idea, but we need to hurry,” the Doctor said.

“I know a way…”

Tamsin and Felicia exited the library. The TARDIS shook. Down the corridor an anomaly appeared. “Not again!” Felicia said.

“Back into the library, Felicia!”

Felicia turned, but the doors slammed shut before she could go in. “No!” she said pounding her fist against them. She then was pulled towards the anomaly. Tamsin too, although she was further away. “Run Tamsin!”

“No!” Tamsin grabbed onto her, both of them fell towards the anomaly. The TARDIS corridor twisted, causing them to fall onto the wall. The shock caused Tamsin to let go...

“Bye, Tamsin!” Felicia said as she once again entered the anomaly.

Tamsin saw the mixture of anguish and wonder on Felicia’s face as she entered the anomaly. ‘I’ll miss you,’ she thought as a tear fell from her left eye. Then the anomaly disappeared and she fell to the floor.

She got up to see the Doctor and Kiara approaching on an extending ice platform.

“She’s gone,” she said when they had come to the spot.

“I hope she’s gone back, or forwards, to her Doctor,” Kiara said.

“It’s likely to be my previous incarnation,” the Doctor said, seriously. “But we may see her again at some point.”

“How would he react, Doctor?” Kiara asked.

“Depends when it was.”

Tamsin wondered if the Doctor was right, that she would see Felicia again at any time. ‘I hope so.’
