no what I think the thing is is there is so much very visceral violent imagery for Benze and Crab. a FOUNDATION of their relationship is that Benze unintentionally causes pain when he's checking out Crab's months-old injury. do you trust me. and Crab doesn't realize how difficult words and touch can be for Benze and unintentionally causes pain that way before they start to figure things out. I wish we could talk. I wish I'd known you before. they're so so drawn to each other from the get go but there are so many barriers they have to get through, of pain (physical and emotional) they have to work to try and ease, mistrust and miscommunication. it's like that blood transfusion post. it isn't compatible with how much the love each other. I'd give you my very blood but it would kill you. it's better to let it bleed out. you can only survive without me. there's so much capacity for pain and hurt, but they choose to love instead.

here's a few dwarf fortress adventure mode tips if you're struggling at all!
1. play a goblin. the mode is unfinished and there's no way to get food except what you start with, so play as a goblin so you don't have to deal with food and water (still need sleep tho). the downsides to playing a goblin, for the record: you're smaller and weaker than the other races. this can make it hard to wrestle things that are large, and makes you very frail under your armor - so don't fight big things without good armor.
2. don't bother with specific weapon skills at the start. my primary suggestions for skills to start with are Novice Reader, so you can read books and/or become a necromancer (if that's your groove) and, importantly, if you don't start out able to read, you can never learn to read. aside from that, my only suggestion is to take at least two levels in Observer. this will let you see how an opponent is attacking so you can counter effectively - you can't parry a dragon's fire breath, but you can block it. back to my initial point - the weapon you start with is not going to be a good weapon, and you should be seeking to replace it as soon as you can.
3. due to how combat works, your first medium-term priorities should be getting ahold of an iron chain shirt, an iron helm, two iron high boots, and two iron gauntlets. this will give you full coverage across your body. for embark, start with a copper chain shirt - cheap and plenty effective for early on, especially against animals. in addition, you want iron or silver weapons, or if your world is more developed, steel. this is why weapon skills don't matter on embark - you're not going to be able to put a ton of points into it anyways, and being a Proficient Swordsman won't help you when you find a masterwork silver whip in the hands of a random goblin.
4. NEVER sleep in the wilderness, if you can help it. you will be attacked and you will be killed. find a nearby civilization that isn't hostile to you, ask anyone in a building for permission to stay the night, and sleep there. you'll be safe from the boogeymen that way, but you're not necessarily safe from random attacks on the village you're staying in. those aren't your fault, though, and are totally random.
(boogeymen no longer attack outside of evil regions, but sleeping in the wilds still leaves you susceptible to predators - not nearly as dangerous, but still a potential threat.)
5. don't interact with elves unless you have a plan. starting in an elf civ has one big disadvantage and one huge potential advantage. elves don't use metal at all, so your only weapon and armor choices will be grown wood, which is an extremely ineffective weapon and armor material. even as ammo, wood is bad. however, if you start in an eleven civ, you have access to giant animal companions. your weapon doesn't matter when you have a giant lion on your side.
6. while in combat, don't be afraid to flee. sometimes you get in over your head. it's important to know when you're in trouble and getting out of dodge before it's too late. most importantly, if you're fighting something that gets cuts in through your armor, you need to leave. if its attacks are stronger than your armor, that means that you can get severed nerves, and those are permanent damage. when you go to the travel map and move a tile, all of your wounds are healed, except for permanent damage - it doesn't matter if you're bruised black and blue and your legs are broken, if you can get to the travel map, all of that goes away. but one single severed nerve in your ankle and you become permanently disabled and need a crutch to walk anywhere, severely hampering your ability to fight. even worse in the arm!
7. train! fight weak stuff before trying to take on strong stuff. run around the woods and chop the wings off of birds. wrestle crabs. get into fistfights with drunks. getting experience from things does not scale with difficulty, only repetition, so it's perfectly viable to pick up a rock and throw it at the floor for three hours and become a legendary thrower capable of splitting open a goblin skull with a hummingbird beak from 30 meters away, or fistfight drunken dwarves for weeks on end to become a legendary striker and punch a dragon's eyes out.
8. for early equipment, scout out camps. there tend to be some nearby any settlement, and the residents might not even be hostile to you! don't pick up everything, just things that are better than the stuff you have. it doesn't currently have an indicator, but carrying too much stuff WILL overencumber and slow you down, which can be deadly in a fight. i look for iron or silver equipment, especially whips. don't take the money, it's useless.
9. what's the best weapon? whips. due to the complex mechanics of combat, whips are basically able to totally ignore armor and simply break bones. secondarily, spear-type weapons are decent against armor, as they can punch through and cause bleeding, while blunt weapons like maces can break bones through the armor. swords and axes are not going to be useful. against unarmored things, though, swords and axes will be much, much stronger - a heavy sword swing can pretty handily sever limbs, which is an EXTREMELY effective tactic, if you can pull it off. blunt weapons will still be able to break bones, but it'll take quite a bit longer to kill an unarmored target with a war hammer than with a greataxe.
10. be patient! both in the game itself, and with the development process. this beta is very incomplete, missing extremely important content like crafting and trading, leaving you somewhat limited in what you can do. they're working on getting it finished, and what's currently available is still a whole lot! as for the game itself - sometimes it's good to take things slow. don't just wildly auto-attack things, sometimes taking a look at your attack options and potential "crits" can create an opening for you to turn a losing battle into a winning one. you can take a step to reassess and get a new accuracy roll if none of your options are good - just be careful not to leave yourself too open to counterattacks!

Now it's likely we will enter everyone's dream what do you think azul dream would be?
rubs hands Ohhhh anon, you're in luck because I have so many thoughts.
Since I also have ideas for the tweels, I'll take this time to write what I think all the Octavinelle dreams will be like. Most of these are my own thoughts, but some ideas are from friends. And because I love the trio so much, I'll also write my own ideas of what would possibly get them to wake up and such.
General notes before listing the individual dreams:
May be an obvious point, but I think all 3 of them will have each other in their dreams. Octa trio are very close, and I don't think they can imagine not having each other in their lives. It also matches how their initial dorm card art have each other + how all three of their stories are tied together.
I think that Jade is going to be the Octavinelle dream segment's SSR because of the twins, Kalim and co. will likely have an easier time waking Floyd up. Jade may need some prodding from someone more familiar with him.
However, I do acknowledge the argument made by my friend that it is possible for Floyd to be the SSR as he's the rightmost one in the order you find at the lessons (if you notice, the order goes Ortho > Lilia > Rook > Kalim (though Kalim is an exception) with Sebek in between Lilia and Rook, and they're the rightmost ones in their dorm order seen in lessons. Floyd is the rightmost one in the Octavinelle order). And I wouldn't be surprised if TWST decides to pull that out. But admittedly, I don't know what exactly would make Floyd's dream deep enough that he needs to be woken up by someone more familiar, so I write the dreams with the assumption that Jade will be the SSR.
Though not necessarily going to be important in the following ramble, I have a feeling that they will release Coral Sea's hometown event to be able to use certain assets (i.e. backgrounds, possible official reveal of Azul's merform) in book 7, just like Vil's hometown event was used for the Pomefiore dream segment.
As a disclaimer, I don't have full translations of the last two updates so I may not have the most accurate ideas for how the Octa dream segment can turn out because there are patterns they're following here. Many of these are still brainrot induced (even though I think I make good logic wheezes).
Ok, with all that said, here are my thoughts for the Octa trio's dreams :>>
Floyd Leech: Living underwater with Jade and Azul
It's not a secret that Floyd is at his happiest when he's in his merform. Among the trio, he's the one who transforms the most often into his merform. Some incidents include the time that he transformed during swimming class according to Ruggie (Book 3) and Vargas Camp where he transformed to get fish. Floyd is also the one who tells the most stories of his time under the sea with Jade and Azul. We know about their middle school band because of him (Robe Kalim vignette); we know about Azul's actual size in his octopus form because of him (Beans 2 main story); we know about the music contests they used to join because of him (Portfest Floyd vignette).
So it makes sense that his dream would be in the sea, where he's in his merform. It's also going to be pretty simplistic, depicting a happy life underwater.
TWST tends to be very comedic, especially with the first dream. So my friend suggested it would be fun if there were literal fish versions of the cast in his dream 😂 so we could have live2D assets of a literal goldfish Riddle, crab Ace, sea snake Jamil, etc.
Jade and Azul of course would be in merform along with him. Maybe they might be playing in their middle school band: Floyd on drums, Jade on bass, and Azul on piano (and maybe their audience is composed of the NRC cast as fish).
In this dream, maybe Floyd has no memory of ever being on land with Jade and Azul. So that may be what the others will use to wake him up.
Jamil would probably remind Floyd of basketball club days + dancing, and Ortho would probably remind him of his love for shoes. These could be pretty reasonable as the permanent card vignettes (so SR Robe/Lab, R Uni/PE, SSR Dorm) seem to be compliant with the canon of the main story. Grim would probably remind him as well of Book 3's events and how he'd do fun shit with Azul and Jade at the Mostro Lounge. They would probably remind him as well that Jade and Azul love what they do on land.
I don't know where to insert this, but it's very likely that Azul in this dream does not hate his merform. Floyd talks highly of his merform (whether it looks yummy or very strong), so it's possible that he wishes that Azul loves himself just a little bit more (I really want to say it is hinted at, but at the moment, I have no idea if that's correct, let alone say where it is hinted at, so I won't say it like it's canon). And by extension, this can be Floyd's way of sharing that maybe Azul wouldn't have OB'd if he was more accepting of himself.
Jade Leech: If Azul never overblotted
Jade's dream would take a similar path to Rook's dream, in which the premise for the latter is that Vil never overblotted because he's not in conflict with Neige. And for Rook, that's okay, he just wants Vil to be happy, even if he looks on from afar. Except that for Jade, he wants to be the reason that Azul didn't have to overblot.
See, it's very subtle, but Jade is probably upset or even traumatized from Azul's overblot. While he never shows this (this motherfucker istg) the one small bit of evidence of this is in Book 4. Jamil's hypnotizing everyone, and Kalim, Azul, and the rest are frantic as they don't know what to do. But as Jamil is about to overblot, Jade tells him to stop, or else he will overblot. And that's a very interesting thing: why is it Jade who's the one telling Jamil that he'll overblot at the rate he was going? Why not Azul, who's both fascinated with Jamil and the one who underwent overblot? Or even Grim and Yuu who have 3 experiences of overblots by that time? Of course, that's not necessarily a guaranteed indication that Jade is upset from Azul's overblot, as in general, overblot is very dangerous and could kill a life. Jade may have been saying this to prevent Jamil from entering a life-or-death situation. However, I still find it intriguing that it's Jade who's warning Jamil, especially when another instance of another character trying to stop an OB was Kalim, who followed Vil since he was reminded of Jamil's own OB (and we know Jamil and Kalim have been together since forever).
There's two ways that this can go: either (1) Jade's dream follows like Rook's, or (2) it goes the opposite of Rook's.
In (1), Jade (and consequently, Floyd) would not be friends with Azul, and Azul would continue on as he is, only a lot more independent.
(1) stems from the fact that the plan Yuu hatched to destroy Azul's contracts was hinged on separating the twins from Azul. Jade might have realized this, either in Book 3 or off screen post Book 3. And in a similar fashion to Rook, he might blame himself a little bit for Azul not being able to get the contracts off of Leona on his own due to the fact that he and Floyd are always with him. So in his mind, he thinks he might be dragging Azul's potential down, and he knows how much Azul wants to become the best version of himself. So maybe he looks on from afar as well. Maybe he's still an Octavinelle student, but not the vice leader.
(2) also stems from that same fact, but it also has an additional element: In Book 3, Jade asked Azul if they should do anything about Leona, since it was unexpected for Yuu to stay in Savanaclaw. Azul replied that he probably won't act on anything, so he says not to disturb him. What if Jade might have been hooked onto this? That maybe he should have acted more upon his suspicions? That maybe he should have been more attentive when spying on Yuu and co to find out when they hatched this plan? So maybe in dream (2), he had a countermeasure or he just knew when to nudge Floyd to go back to the dorm before Leona destroyed the contracts. Then once that was dealt with, they deal with the photo and bam, Azul wins and they get the Ramshackle branch.
Both (1) and (2) are connected by Jade's wish in the Dances and Wishes event, where he expresses that his wish is for Azul's and Floyd's wishes to come true. In a sense, (1) fits this a bit better than (2). There's also the idea that moray eels have a cowardly nature, according to Floyd. (1) could be an expression of said nature within Jade.
But if you ask me, I think (2) is a bit more in line with Jade. Firstly because I doubt he can imagine not being close to Azul, secondly because I think in his ideal world, I think he'd wish he had more control over what happened (and Jade has a thing for control).
Thirdly, it matches in terms of how his dorm card and Rook's dorm card are both same and different. The gameplay of TWST tends to be intermingled with the story and characters at times. Dorm Jade and Rook both have first spells where they boost their ATK stat for 3 turns, with fire as their duo element. The differences between them are (a) card typing (Rook Attack vs. Jade Defense) and (b) M1/M3 elements (Flora/Water Rook vs. Water/Flora for Jade). This parallel can be reflected in their dreams vs. the reality of their situations. Rook dreamt of never being involved with Vil, but in real life he was in time to intervene and save Neige. Meanwhile, Jade would dream of being on time to stop Leona, while in real life, he was too late and only in time to kick Azul's ass out of his overblot.
And fourth, this is where you may wonder: Isn't Azul's second dream going to be the Book 3 AU, based on the patterns with Idia, Vil, and Jamil? To which I answer: yes! Definitely! But here's where I'm going to point out something: Jade and Azul not only have similar ish mindsets but also have the same paintings in their initial Platinum card art, just with flipped positions. I like to think that this is reflective of their dreams, where both of them wish to change the same events of Book 3, except that they'd go about it differently.
Jade would definitely be woken up by Floyd, who would remind him that what happened has already happened. (On this note, I wonder if we'll get to see one of their vicious sibling fights so Jade can wake up, but I'm just dreaming at this point)
By virtue of him being the SSR, we gotta think of what's the scenario that would make Jade cry! Him having to fight the fake Azul and Floyd might break him. Yeah, he's fought Floyd and all, probably dueled with Azul too, but it could be different when he has to be 100% serious about it. Either that or, there might be some part of him that hates the fact that it was a dream. And Floyd would have to snap him out of it, saying that everything is okay.
Azul Ashengrotto: Ultimate business owner + Book 3 AU
The first dream we enter, in typical Azul fashion, we're likely going to see him owning a whole chain of Mostro Lounge restaurants! And maybe not only that: he's probably running a hotel or two, he's got a delivery service going, he probably has a monopoly running while we're at it. Basically, it's all the stuff that he lists down in Book 6 before he sleeps on Riddle's shoulder.
His businesses expand over both land and sea. Since Azul prefers being on land, we may see him on land first before diving to the sea to check on business there. And that's where the first confrontation happens.
I think Azul would feel practically invincible by this point! And by invincible, he not only has everything he wants, but there's not a trace of his past to be discovered, so people think he's always been this intelligent and strong. So when he's confronted by Jade and Floyd, who share memories of his past (his shared past with them, from middle school to NRC), that's the first instance of Azul slowly starting to wake up and him panicking about his perfect world being fake. And it almost works until the dream versions of Jade and Floyd come in and remind Azul of the kind of invincible person he is.
Then they descend to the second dream, which is the Book 3 AU where Azul got his contracts from Leona and probably beat his ass. Except that the difference between this and Jade's dream is that Azul does this all by himself. When dream Jade and Floyd get back to him with the photo, they're praising him, all like, "Good job Azul! You're so strong and powerful! I'm glad I get to hang out with someone as awesome as you are!"
But the real Jade and Floyd would try to stop him from destroying the photo and tell him that it's a reminder of who he was, and how much he's grown. And if Azul succeeds in destroying that photo, Jade and Floyd would pull out the photos that they carry with them (think the album from the opening). They want him to accept the person that he was, and realize the person he is now is someone who's grown stronger. He has become better.
On how his dream would collapse, this is tricky. I would want that Azul destroys his contracts (thereby breaking the deal he made with Yuu, which would entail that his happy end has been broken), but him not destroying the photo would also cause the dream to collapse since the way to his happy end involves removing all ties to his past, namely the photos. He could do both. However, the trend so far is that foreign influence affecting the happy ending is what would break the dream. If anything, if Jade and Floyd do have their own copies of Azul's past photos, that means that the presence of those indicates that Azul's ties to his past are not broken at all, and therefore they would break the dream.
Then as per pattern, the others leave while Azul sinks deeper to try and wake himself up. He meets his OB self, who's steeped in his insecurities and is very unaccepting of his past. And this is where Azul accepts those insecurities and accepts his past but will continue to move forward with his life and grow to be a person he can be proud of, and fight his OB self. Then he faces his first dream and dream Jade and Floyd, and then he wakes up eventually.
#twisted wonderland#twst#twst jp#azul ashengrotto#jade leech#floyd leech#twst theory#tldr they need each other fr#if you ask me i absolutely think jade and floyd would exhibit their same difference schtick#in which they have their individual ways of expressing smth but at their core they have similar desires/goals/feelings#like i think floyd might partially blame himself too for azuls ob or if not blame himself he at least wished he never had to see it happen#its just that to him if azul was more accepting of himself like how floyd accepts him then azul wouldnt have been hurt enough to undergo it#ofc it needs to be said too that jade and floyd want each other to be happy#idk how Exactly they'd go about that but im sure for jade he wants floyd to be able to do what he wants#and floyd wants that he and jade are happy tgt under the sea#tho i do admit my ideas for jade's dream are more azul focused than floyd focused esp (2)#(1) would defs be able to encompass floyd's wishes more alongside azul's#i still want the tweels to brawl after seeing kalim and jamil throw down in the latest update lmao#like how vicious would they get and would they actually fight over how they shouldve handled a matter deeply involving someone they care fo#i demand to see more fists thrown tbh for a school thats built up to throw hands we dont get enough full blown fist fights#edit 1: its jamil who accompanies them not kalim#edit 2: added in the photos in azuls part bc my friend talked about it and i COMPLETELY FORGOT HOW IMPT THE PHOTOS ARE TO AZULS STORY

A Sisters Wish
Note: This takes place after this fic. You can probably read it on its own but I personally recommend reading that one first. Thank you once again to Nube for beta reading for me <3
There was an old legend in Bambouche: You must pick up the prettiest shell you can find. Once you do that you whisper a desire into it several times. Some tellings say three, others five or even nine. Having done this you take the shell with you. Keeping it close and safe until nightfall. When the stars are at their brightest you would whisper your wish one more time into the shell then return it to the sea.
It was said that once a long time ago a fisherman was lost at sea, thought to be dead by everyone. His partner made a wish in this way and  within three days he had returned home safely, though with no memory of where he had been the whole time.
Of course. No one really took this seriously.  After all, it was a little silly, wasn’t it? Just a tale told by the older folks to keep the kids entertained. So then, why was she rowing a boat out onto the water, a shell nestled into her pocket? In the initial days after Petronille was unfrozen she had scoured the town for any sign of Bonnie. She was glad they had managed to make it out ahead of the curse but, now she didn’t know where they were and that thought terrified her to her core.
 It took everything within her to not just set off out of town looking for them. She was no stranger to rash decisions but even she knew this was a terrible idea. Bambouche had been frozen for months. They could be anywhere at this point. She needed a general idea of where to start looking. She’d sent letters out to neighboring towns but she knew there had to be others looking for lost family members as well. Her letter was likely one among many and the waiting was driving her insane.
So. Why not do this? Couldn’t hurt. Besides, being out on the water has always calmed her so, if anything, it is an excuse to find some time to center herself and come up with a new game plan. She pulls the shell from her pocket and whispers into it.
“Please, let me know that Bonnie is safe and let them come home soon.”
It’s. What. She. Wants.
With that, she dips her hand into the water and releases the shell, watching it sink out of view. Nothing happens. Not that she really expected anything to happen really. It wasn’t like Bonnie would just appear on the boat next to her… Though part of her wishes they would. She misses them so much and not knowing if they’re okay is about the worst feeling in the world.
She lays down on the floor of her boat and looks up at the stars. She hasn’t really been sleeping well and knows tonight will be no exception. Might as well stargaze. She remembers the old fisherwoman who’d taken her under her wing when she’d first arrived alone and scared with a baby Bonnie.
She hadn’t made herself the easiest to approach but the woman had done so anyway. Showing her how to properly catch and cook fish so that she and Bonnie would not go hungry. She’d known so much about the stars. Often talked about them when they spent late nights fishing together. You could navigate using the stars if you knew what to look for. She had said something else that had stuck with her too… Even if you couldn’t see them they were always there, watching over the people below. It was a connection all people shared.
The thought that no matter where Bonnie was, they were still under the same sky brings the smallest bit of comfort to her now. She’d see them again. No matter what.
Her thoughts come to a stop as a streak of light trails across the sky. A shooting star? Maybe this was some sort of sign? Not that she was…particularly religious in one way or another. But hey, she’ll take some divine intervention right now if it means helping her find her sibling.
Huh.
That’s getting really close.
TOO close.
OH CRAB.
She bolts up right and starts rowing for dear life out of the trajectory of the light that is rapidly approaching. It still nearly flips her boat when it makes impact with the water. “Oh crab oh crab oh crab-”
Wait.
Did that shooting star look…person shaped?? She could still kind of see the shape as it sank quickly under the water. It does look person shaped!! Did a person just fall from the crabbing sky?!
Without thinking she dives into the water after whatever-whoever this is. The water is dark but fortunately they are very bright. She swims after the quickly sinking light and manages to grab onto something solid. They’re surprisingly light actually. She hauls them out of the water and somewhat ungracefully gets them into the boat.
So. That’s a person that just fell from the sky…..and their head is a star. Why not? She was frozen in time for months and that was already pretty weird. This might as well be happening. They don’t seem to be moving. Are they dead...? An impact from that height would be pretty devastating to most people but most people also don’t have stars for heads so who knows what the rules are here. Can she do CPR on something that doesn’t have a mouth???
She hesitantly reaches to see if she can find a pulse when suddenly the star’s eyes fly open, they sit bolt upright and grab her wrist. This catches her so off guard she suplexes them right back into the water. Oops.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
There is a star in her boat. They have their arms folded over their body and are looking out across the water. Probably cold. She was too, the water wasn’t exactly warm after all. They don’t seem…mad about her dunking them back into the water really. They'd been more disorientated than anything and as startled by her as she'd been by them grabbing her.
“Thank you.” They say at last after a long silence.
“Don't mention it.” She is trying so very hard not to ask the obvious question. It’s probably rude to ask someone why they're a star so she settles on the other question at the forefront of her mind:
“How the crab did you end up falling from the sky??”
They stare at her for a moment. “Stars do that sometimes.”
“...sure, but they don't usually also talk.”
“Have you ever met another star?”
“...I suppose not.”
“Well there you go~! Hm. Though I do suppose there must be another reason I'm here. Did you perhaps make a wish?”
“How-?”
“Star.”
“...riiight.” She feels a mix of both hope and skepticism.
“Your sibling is safe.”
!
“More than that, they're one of the saviors of Vauguarde. You should be proud~”
“Bonnie fought the king?!!”
Why would anyone let a kid even attempt that?!  But… If they're okay and also kicked the king's butt then…yeah. She's crabbing proud. Then again…
“Why should I believe you?”
“Other than the fact I am a sentient star who dropped in to give you the news? Well. Hm. Let’s see-” They close their eyes for a long moment.
Something whizzes past her head and they pluck it out of the air. “Ah, here we are.”
They hold it out to her. It’s paper, folded into the shape of a crane. Paper Craft letter sending was nothing new but the shape is different than what she is used to. Also, they generally weren’t this good at pinpointing someone's location.
She quickly unfolds it and reads it over using the light emitting from the star. The first half is in an unfamiliar handwriting. Neat. Formal. The writer states that her name is Odile and recounts the circumstances of how the saviors met Bonnie and why they'd allowed them to tag along on such a dangerous mission.
…And she got it. Odile was 100 percent correct that Bonnie would have followed them no matter what they said or did. They were stubborn like that. The letter explains the party’s plans to set out for Bambouche as soon as they are fit for travel.
She moves on to the second half of the letter and her heart skips a beat. She knows that handwriting.
Hey Nille! Everyone says you should be unfrozen by now. You better be!! There's so much I wanna tell you but Dille took up too much of the crabbing paper with “adult stuff”. She said we could send another letter soon though. You should write back so i know you're okay. Though i guess itd be hard to know where to send it when we're on the road. Ill ask where to have you send one next time i write. Did you know in Ka Bue they send their letters folded like birds instead of butterflies? It seems a lot more hard to fold it like that to me but Dile makes it look easy. Aw crab im running out of room to write. Dont go anywhere okay? We're coming to you. Write you again soon! This is Bonnie by the way.
Crammed in the corner because they'd written too large to give themselves the space to say everything they wanted to say was a tiny “Miss you.”
A tear darkens the paper. They're okay. She is so relieved. It seems her wish really did come true. She turns to the star, “Thank you…?”
There is an awkward pause, then they seem to realize she’s fishing for a name. “Loop.”
“Thank you Loop. This means a lot to me.”
“...don't mention it.”
The two sit in silence for a while.
“So… now what?” she asks.
“.....”
“Heh…haha-” they start laughing, much harder than she felt the question warranted.  It takes them a bit to regain their composure.
 “You know. I didn’t think that far ahead.”

~Manatsu Natsuumi/Cure Summer~
~~~🌺~~~🌺~~~🌺~~~
~ Summer was initially shocked when she first hears you lash out at the bad guys. I mean, she knew you were intense, and even aggressive at times, but man! You weren’t even calling them basic insults either, they were so creative!
~ She totally joins in on the fun! Though, she admits, she’s definitely as good as you. She’s loud and intense, but when it comes to making up insults on the spot, they just don’t hit. But she still has a good time!
~ Cure Summer is not a mean girl at all. So she admires how you can confidently say such things. So she asks for advice! Both on making up insults, and just being mean in general. However, though she tries her best, being rude just isn’t one of her strong suits.
“Ha! Take that! See? Your Yarane-da doesn’t stand a chance, Crab-face!”
“Uh, Summer. Chongire is a crab. So being called “Crab-face” probably isn’t all that insulting.”
“Oh…”
~~~🌺~~~🌺~~~🌺~~~
Tumblr media
~Sango Suzumura/Cure Coral~
~~~🪸~~~🪸~~~🪸~~~
~ Cure Coral isn’t a fan of being rude. So your behavior stresses her out quite a bit. She also can’t handle how mean your words are, despite them being said to a villain. She truly believes that no one deserves to be treated that way. Also, she hates whenever you swear. In her mind, profanity is totally unnecessary and barbaric.
~ The first time she hears your insults to the bad guys, she freezes in shock. She scolds you for your rudeness and language. But unfortunately, that doesn’t stop you.
~ While she very much dislikes your behavior, she has given up trying to get you to stop. She figured it’s just the way you are, and it’s not worth trying to change it.
“Man, that was easy! Take that, asshole!”
“(cure name)! Is that language really necessary?”
“Uh, yeah. It helps get my point across!”
“Which is….?”
“That these Yarane-das are all dogshit!”
“*sigh*”
~~~🪸~~~🪸~~~🪸~~~

~Minori Ichinose/Cure Papaya~
~~~📚~~~📚~~~📚~~~
~ At first, she’s not really sure what to do. She just listens to your words, impressed by how quickly you came up with them. However, she wasn’t sure how this contributed to defeating the Yarane-da. But you did.
~ You explained to her that it lowers the villains’ confidence, and makes them lose their focus. And that way, it makes it easier to win. That seemed to convince her that your insults were useful.
~ Now, Cure Papaya is completely fine with your methods of battling. It doesn’t bother her in the slightest, even when you use foul language. She even encourages you to keep going at times. As long as it helps to win the fight, she’s fine.
“(cure name), now would be a good time to make Numeri lose her focus.”
“Good idea! Hey you, slug! You’re so oily, that the US wants to invade it!”
“Nice. But slugs are slimy, not oily…”
~~~📚~~~📚~~~📚~~~
Tumblr media
~Asuka Takizawa/Cure Flamingo~
~~~🦩~~~🦩~~~🦩~~~
~ Flamingo was fine with it at first. She even found your insults pretty funny. However, over time, it got pretty old. It just gives her headaches now.
~ It also bothers her how when you focus so much on talking to the bad guys, it cuts back on how much physical damage is done. You’re doing way more barking than biting.
~ She constantly reminds you to do what really matters in battles, and to get back to the real work. But of course, within a few moments, you’re back to yapping.
“Hey, Chongire! Has anyone told you that you look like a-“
“(cure name)! Less talking, more fighting!”
“Okay, okay! Fine!”
~~~🦩~~~🦩~~~🦩~~~
Tumblr media
~Laura La Mer/Cure La Mer~
~~~🌊~~~🌊~~~🌊~~~
~ Cure La Mer found your words disgustingly vulgar at first. It just wasn’t polite or charming in any way! How could the future queen allow herself to be around someone with such low decorum?
~ However, she eventually found herself cracking a smile at some of your insults. They were surprisingly funny. But she quickly reminds herself not to find humor in such awful words.
~ So whenever you battle, she almost always laughs at least once, only to correct herself. And she still claims that she does not find enjoyment in your behavior.
“C’mon, La Mer. You know I’m funny.”
“How insulting that you think I’d ever find humor in such foul language! That is definitely not queen like behavior!”
“Oh, really? Then why did I hear you laugh?”
“I-I wasn’t! I was coughing!”
“Uh huh….”
the main echo cast and their splatoon mains. GO!
Oh fun, alright! I'll also put an explanation for my reasoning at the end. Really enjoyed thinking about this. This will be Splatoon 3 focused by the way, as it is the most recent game.
Chase Hunter - Octobrush (Suction Bomb/Zipcaster)
Tumblr media
Leo Alvarez - Dread Wringer (Suction Bomb/Reefslider)
Tumblr media
Jenna Begay - .52 Gal Deco (Curling Bomb/Splattercolor Screen)
Tumblr media
Carl Hendricks - Splatana Stamper Nouveau (Toxic Mist/Crab Tank)
Tumblr media
TJ Hess - Big Swig Roller Express (Angle Shooter/Ink Storm)
Tumblr media
Flynn Moore - Custom E-Liter 4K Scope (Squid Beakon/Kraken Royale)
Tumblr media
Bonus! Syndey Bronson - Custom Blaster (Point Sensor/Triple Splashdown)
Tumblr media
Explanation time, spoilers will be mentioned.
Chase: Chunter mains Octobrush. The weapon cannot take fights head on due to having shorter range than many other weapons and thus has to rely on off-angles to get kills and take space or by poking with bombs from a distance. Chase rarely if ever wins a fight he's in one-on-one, having to rely on a distraction from people around him to get any sort of advantage. He also tends to avoid confrontation all together, usually running when faced with a danger like Duke or Brian. This works very well with Brushes as they are highly mobile when brushing along the ground which they use to escape situations that they would get splatted in otherwise. Chase is also referred to as having stubby legs that makes running not his strong-suit and that works with Octobrush specifically as it it slower in both its flicks and brushing when compared to the Inkbrush (though it is still faster than the Painbrush but I don't think Chase is that slow so it still works). Octobrushes tend to shark in ink, swimming around and popping up when an opportunity presents itself. So an octobrush user is often in swim form a noticeable portion of a match, which works great with Chotter who is an avid swimmer! Zipcaster may be the odd one out when it comes to this weapon being Chase's main but I do think it plays into all of the aforementioned traits with how Octobrush tends to use the special.
Leo: I might need to defend myself on this one but here me out. Leo is headstrong and very straightforward in how he does things right? He's intelligent but stubborn, rarely considering alternative options which can backfire on him. That is the Reefslider special. It is straightforward; Rush forward on an inflatable shark and explode. But because of that, it can be predicable and ends up getting countered a lot. Beyond that, Leo really does care for his friends and wants to be their protector. Originally I thought that a Big Bubbler weapon could be pretty good for that, but I think that Reefslider fits Leo better but also a main weapon like Dread Wringer also can cover that aspect. Dread Wringer paints an insane amount, which means that the team has a lot of ink to swim through, hide in, recover health, escape through, etc. It also is AMAZING at comboing with weapons like the Range Blaster or Snipewriter so it ends up working a lot with other weapons. Sharing the sub weapon of suction bomb with Octobrush can be representative of his relationship with Chase and how he sticks to the image of Echo, Chase, and the past.
Jenna: .52 Gal Deco and Jenna okay. I had a few ideas for Jenna, initially thinking of her maining a dualie of some kind but I just couldn't figure out which one would work best. Jenna is practical, self-reliant, and resourceful while also having a playful streak about her. She loves pulling pranks and joking around with her friends while still being generally supportive and helpful towards them even if she can come off as harsh at times. Also being a fox, she is rather mobile and fast on her feet. It's that last part that originally made me think of giving her a dualie, but I couldn't find one that I thought matched all of her traits. That's when I decided to approach it from a different angle. I started from her independence and worked from there. I started thinking of weapons that were very self-reliant, able to hold their own in fights, can paint well for themselves, etc. Then I started thinking about weapons that can be a bit playful and sneaky while keeping their mobility. And after a lot of consideration I landed on the .52 Gal Deco. The main weapon, .52 Gal, is a mid-range shooter that is pretty much the definition of a self-reliant and resourceful weapon. It is a very consistent two-shot weapon with a pretty solid fire rate, making it very reliable in fights while minimizing the amount of time it takes to kill so it can splat the opponent before it can get splatted. It can be a bit ink-hungry so the user needs to be resourceful and aware of their surroundings and their own resources to fully utilize the weapon's strengths. Curling bomb as a sub weapon gives this otherwise okay-mobility weapon much better movement, which the user can use to get around the map quickly and distract opponents. This weapon ends up playing rather fast paced and sneaky by using its range, kill-time, and curling bomb to move around the map to take positions that the enemy team might not be expecting. And then the special of Splattercolor Screen works as a smoke-screen of sorts, concealing your team from the enemy sight. That plus curling bomb allows for a bunch of mind games on where the .52 Gal Deco user could be at any given time, especially if they're running Ninja Squid.
Carl: This one was a bit more difficult to figure out than the first three but I think the Splatana Stamper Nouveau is a good fit for him. Carl is more laid-back and chill, so I didn't think a weapon that is very fast-paced, aggressive, and "high energy" would work for him. He also dislikes being the center of attention so in my mind that pushed me towards weapons that work well as an anchor in a team comp rather than a slayer or skirmisher or something. Carl also has a stockier build and for a time worked out, which made me think of Crab Tank. This narrowed my thoughts down to Splatana Stamper Nouveau and the Heavy Edit Splatling Nouveau. Both are strong, slower, sturdier weapons that play at the range that Crab Tank favors. I went with Splatana Stamper Nouveau over Heavy Edit Nouveau because Heavy Edit as a main weapon is much more fast and mobile and really likes fighting. Stamper Nouveau — unlike the vanilla Stamper — isn't as much as a fighter. It can still fight pretty well, it is a Splatana Stamper after all, but it plays more to support it's team by painting for Crab Tank to apply distance pressure and comboing with other weapons by using it's 70dmg charge slash or the aforementioned Crab Tank. Nouveau as a weapon brand also tends to make weapons based around art supplies, and Carl is an artist.
TJ: Okay TJ and Big Swig Express. TJ as a character is very altruistic and kind. He loves and supports his friends and I figured that a more supportive weapon would work very well with that. The Big Swig roller as a main weapon is focused on putting down paint for your team to swim through, heal, etc. And with Ink Storm also expanding upon that I thought that the Big Swig Express fits TJ's caring personality pretty well. It also is a weapon that doesn't fight much due to it's low damage, which I again think fits with TJ's personality. He tends to avoid conflict and often gets very uncomfortable when pressured by Flynn or anyone else. TJ is also very athletic, and the Big Swig is a faster weapon in terms of its flicks and movement.
Flynn: One I think is pretty self-explanatory. Flynn is proficient with a rifle and the charger class of weapons fill the archetype of sniper-rifles in the Splatoon games. I chose the Custom E-Liter 4K Scope specifically as a callback to Flynn's role in Jenna's route where he takes a position far back to aim his rifle on Heather at the dam. Kraken Royale is a transformation special that transforms the user into a large invincible kraken, in which the user can swim around and perform melee attacks to fight before turning back about ~7 seconds later. For Custom E-Liter, this allows it to protect itself up close. The main gun is very long range and has a very slow charge time. It is meant to take vantage points and snipe from a distance and thus it can't fight when rushed down. Kraken helps cover that weakness. Flynn does throw some punches a few times in the vn, though he doesn't always win these fights. I thought that this dynamic between E-Liter and Kraken represents that pretty well. Also spoiler. Flynn transforms into the Socket Man, a seemingly immortal entity that can rush down and kill things kind of like how Kraken functions.
Sydney: I think this one is also pretty self-explanatory, right? Sydney was rambunctious, loves to wrestle, was a big fan of things like ninjas and treasure hunts. Custom Blaster is a short range blaster that plays to its aggression and being able to get up to an opponent and hopefully hit its one-shot direct before the opponent can fire back. Point Sensor marks any enemy that enters its aoe, so the Custom Blaster player will know where that enemy is while the enemy won't know where the Custom Blaster player is. This allows the user to get up flank and get up close to either direct or use Triple Splashdown, which I mean looks like this.
Tumblr media
The user rises into the air and summons two massive fists, smashing into the ground and creating three large explosions.
Custom Blaster has a very aggressive, fast-paced, up-close playstyle that rewards both rushing down your opponent and being creative in ways that you approach to compensate for your short range. It also is a weapon that favors gear with Quick Respawn, cause it ends up dying a lot.
The New Moon In Cancer Wants You To Get Sentimental
The first new moon of summer is here and on 5th July at 11:57 p.m., the new moon in Cancer wants us to get sentimental. Although it sounds easy in theory, Cancer is a zodiac sign that takes time to embrace novel ideas, experiences and relationships. Once the crab does, they’ll reveal a bright, hot heart full of love, loyalty and creativity. Cancers do things in their own time so be patient during this lunation because it could take a minute to see our lives evolve for the better — but they certainly will.
New moons initiate the lunar cycle every month. The sun and moon align in the sky, making the moon invisible to the naked eye. We call this the dark moon. Being that the new (and dark) moon is the first of the lunar phases, it’s a moment when we can set intentions and share our dreams for the weeks ahead. If you want to set forth on a new chapter in life or jump-start an endeavour, the new moon would be the time to do so. Manifesting can lead to big payoffs when set during the new moon.
Since the new moon is in the sign of Cancer, which is ruled by the moon, this lunation is a moment in which our emotions, intuition and sense of self will force us to make decisions based on what our gut feelings tell us. Finding and igniting a connection to ourselves on a deep level will allow us to evolve, grow and transcend effervescently with the new moon. This is a moment in which we’ll find what energy and desire resides in our hearts. Doing what makes us truly happy, for the first time in a while, will make us feel as though we can amplify our passions, moving towards our wishes and objectives.
With Cancer being a nostalgic sign, we might want to look back at childhood activities that brought us joy. What dreams stick out from our youth? What did we want to pursue? Who did we want to be? Thinking and reflecting upon these quandaries could lead us to understand what we want to change and add to our lives. Not only that, but it’ll give us the chance to heal our past. The presence of the centaur Chiron (who’s known as the wounded healer), as well as the asteroids Juno (the protector of the home, among other things), Ceres (the asteroid of unconditional love) and Pallas (who brings wisdom), will help us love and appreciate our shadow self and inner child, allowing us to stop the ongoing cycle of familial trauma or at least see the patterns as they are happening.
Action planet Mars in Taurus and Saturn retrograde in Pisces both aspect the new moon, pushing us towards excellence at our own pace. Mars in Taurus doesn’t move as swiftly as other signs but there is a calmness in not taking impulsive steps to keep things moving. Saturn’s backward spin allows us to boss up and evaluate the decisions we are forced to make from the square the new moon is undergoing from the fraught aspect it shares with the Nodes of Destiny.
The fixed stars Sirius and Canopus connect with the new moon. Sirius wants us to shake up our lives by getting out of our comfort zones. Letting go of our fears and old ways of thinking will allow us to see all the possibilities that lie ahead. Canopus brings fame but not without emotional baggage and tests. We may not like the effects our choices have on those we love, which can lead to us looking for a new path during the new moon.
Even though we are making moves and taking action, we aren’t doing so in a frenzy. We are focusing on what is right for us and homing in on how we can make it possible. Everything that is worthwhile in life doesn’t happen overnight. Planting seeds now will lead to massive changes and success in the future. Don’t rush the process.
hi. merhog silver artist here and sorry for suddenly appearing in your asks but PLEASE feel free infodump about benthic areas in my tags. if you want. no pressure (◕ᴥ◕) (I think learning about the environment/planet is cool) (and i will use this knowledge to think about merhog silver in Situations™️)
MY TIME HAS COME :D!!!! Thank you so much, I would love to talk about the bottom of our oceans. I love mer aus because I have a special interest in the ocean and it’s biosphere, and I’m glad you’re open to my insanity fhskbslauslsj!!!!
So the ‘benthic zone’ is really an umbrella term for the sea floor, or the floor on any body of water. In this case in the Mariana’s Trench, the bottom layer would be below the “Abyss”/abyssopeleagic zone, in a zone called the Hadal Zone. That’s where Challenger deep is!
Deep sea zones are always very full of life, even if it doesn’t look it. Because of the extreme pressure, in a fictional setting Silver would have to spend a lot of time repressurizing and whatnot on the way back to the surface to not accidentally kill himself with the expansion of oxygen in his blood and also his tissue could turn to mush (I mean, take a look at the blowfish). Realistically, an animal that can go that deep probably can’t go to the surface, but since this is a fictional hedgehog mermaid, creative liberties can be taken out the wazoo. So feel free to pick and chose which details you keep and do away with for plot or situations ™ reasons!!
The ecosystem on the benthic areas of a body of water can vary, depending on how deep the water goes. In a No Light zone, as I like to call them, you begin to see animals with bioluminescence, and this luminescence can vary in color, as it serves a different purpose for each animal. Some may have red, which they have developed a special eye to see (as red is the first color to fade when you start to dive. I did a fun little activity showing this off in my marine science class, it turns almost a brownish), or the bioluminescence may be blue, which is the color that sticks around the longest. It depends on the animal and purpose, and for a character like Silver, maybe if he possesses bioluminescent traits (like in his hands, quills, where ever) it’s for warning off anything that may try to eat him. Though, in a real setting, a creature as big as him down there may be the apex.
Speaking of apex predators and whatnot, I’ll talk about the ecosystem! Most food is provided to the animals so deep through marine snow (excess nutrients that have fallen to the floor from the surface) and whale falls, which are when whales die and drift to the bottom. They will then be a source of food for months, and every creature, from the initial fish who get the muscle tissue to the bacteria that eat the bones, everyone benefits from the death! In a fictional setting, there is a chance you could have creatures in the deep terrorizing Silver, or he could be from an are with a lot of hydrothermal vents, which have their own ecosystems as well, though mostly of the krill and plankton variety. But they are EXTREMELY hot.
Silver, by the looks of it, may eat the flesh from the whale falls, other fish, crabs, and scavenge whatever corpses he may find. He also may be a slightly slower mer to begin with (which kind of matches his in game lack of speed in his levels in 06), as energy is a rare and valuable resource. If he continues to have psychokinesis, he may use it to speed boost and defend himself, or not understand the extent of his own abilities until in a photic (light) zone, like in a reef, which I’d imagine is what Green Hill would be. He might make himself sick hunting and eating whatever he can find in a safer environment, because wow! So much food, so much energy.
The deep isn’t quiet either! It has the echos of everything above it, and though the sand may cause a little dampening, it’s certainly not silent. I think he could probably be able to flare his quills too, as well as flatten them to streamline. But it is lonely down there. Animals don’t cross paths too often outside of hunting or going to a whale fall, and Silver may be on his own a lot of the time, which is sad :( hopefully he makes some friends closer to the photic zone. Maybe light may hurt his eyes a little? He’s spent his whole life in the dark with a limited color palette, so it’s a possibility! If you have any questions about anything ocean related, feel free to ask!! I’d love to share. The ocean is a wild and fun place, and mer aus make me so happy because it shows that people are willing to give it a chance, and by extension, spread knowledge and an adoration with the ocean.
Thank you for letting me ramble <3
Do you have any tips for writing horror/suspense/dread/I don't know how to describe it in one word.
Basically that feeling of tension when you have no clue what could await around every corner, or what lurks in the dark just out of sight. That feeling that something is off or wrong.
See, this is something else that I'm going to have to talk to you about and find your personal take. Because I've written dread and horror, build-up and all that suspense.
The only thing I could really say in terms of universal structure is that it requires playing with timing and detail. Things happen too quickly or they happen very. Very. Slowly. You know every inch of the subject of attention or you don't know anything. Both ends of the spectrum can be very effective in terms of unease.
Here's the part where I don't think any writing guide that isn't a person directly speaking to your face will be able to tell you: horror depends on what you personally find horrifying. I have crippling trypophobia. To the point where my spell check says I spelled it wrong but I refuse to look it up because if I see a trigger image it will potentially cause a psychotic episode. My wife is terrified of crabs. Specifically Horseshoe crabs - which, like, honestly? Google the underside of a Horseshoe crab and tell me that they're wrong.
What triggers our fears might not trigger yours. Here's the cool thing though, and what I consider to be the most interesting challenge of horror - with the right take, you could make a person at least unnerved by anything.
It helps, frankly, if you have a small underlying thread of paranoia in your day to day life. Lord knows I do. Show me a baby's shoe left on the side of the road and I'm thinking about it for at least two hours. The first time I went to Trader Joe's I ditched my cart midway through and left because I had the feeling it was a little evil.
Something about the brightness of the lights, just slightly off from fluorescent. The faces of the other shoppers were slightly fleshier than they should be. All the items on the shelves had the impression of something unfamiliar pretending to be a thing I could comprehend. A baby looked at me and started crying. At one point, just as I was picking up a thing of cream cheese, the theme to The Exorcist came on the loudspeakers. At that point I felt that shift of dread in my stomach and I just walked out of the store.
Yes it was almost Halloween. Trader Joe's is anti-Union, I stand by my initial impression.
Anyway, my only universal advice is write what creeps you out, even if it's something you know isn't that scary. Because maybe you can make something new scary. I mean look at old pictures of clowns people used to accept as fun and nice. Jesus Christ.
I'm definitely going to message you now to talk more.
Top 6 MOST IRRESISTIBLE Zodiac Signs
In today's busy world, is easy to be overlooked and overlook others.
We're always working, always moving around, always interacting with people without really interacting with them.
However, every once in a while, someone comes into your life that will shine brighter than most and will make you stop and actually see them.
They might become an important part of your life, or they might become a random yet significant encounter you find yourself thinking about every once in a while.
Regardless of how you met them and whether or not you see them again, their charm is undeniable, and they'll stand out in your mind above the rest.
Who are these mysterious figures?
There's a very good chance that mysterious stranger is one of these signs.
#1. Aries
With their no-nonsense attitude and hands-on approach to life, Arians are magnetic without even trying.
Their confidence, honesty, and passion make them come off as incredibly sincere, which in turn endears them to people almost immediately.
They can come off as cocky and selfish, which can rub some people the wrong way, but more often than not, their uncompromising personalities will earn them more friends than enemies.
As for the enemies, their combative personalities do earn them.
Aries rarely have any time to pay attention to them, which only makes them seem cooler in everyone else's eyes.
#2. Cancer
Sensitive and down-to-earth, people love hanging out with Cancers because they make them feel listened to and cared for.
Cancers have a quiet charm to them that immediately puts others at ease; and their nourishing personality and compassionate approach to life makes them a magnet for all kinds of people, which means Cancers are rarely hurting for friends.
Despite the ease with which Cancers can acquire new friends, crabs are on the introverted sign, so they tend to be pretty selective about who they hang out with, which is a good thing because, unfortunately, some people will try to take advantage of their good disposition.
Too often people confuse kindness with weakness, so if you're a crab, don't forget that protecting yourself is just as important as helping others.
#3. Leo
Passionate, strong, and born to lead, there was no way Leos wouldn't make it to this list.
Their confidence and ability to pursue their goals without rest often make them stand out amongst their peers and while this can earn them some haters, most people can't help but be in awe of everything a Leo can accomplish.
Leo's confidence and extroverted personality make them the life of the party no matter where they go, and though they can come off as egocentric, most people will be too charmed to care.
All that said, if you're a Leo, it's a good thing to tune down the drama from time to time.
People will notice you no matter what you do, so you don't need to make a scene everywhere you go.
#4. Virgo
Charismatic and brutally honest, Virgos present a likable exterior that can charm people in no time flat.
Their methodical personalities and practical outlook of life make them excellent at giving advice, which in turn makes people trust them and think of them highly.
Once they get over their initial shyness, Virgo's most confrontational attitudes come to shine, but by them, people are so charmed by Virgos that they'll be willing to overlook that.
Not that most people will ever see that side of Virgo, as though they're incredibly charming, they're also very selective about who they spend their time with.
#5. Scorpio.
Scorpio's charm comes from their joy-de-vivre and general all-out approach to life.
They live in the moment, they're passionate about what they like, and they embrace every situation they're in even if they hate it.
This raw sincereness is what makes them so attractive.
While some zodiac signs are out there trying to figure out how best to present themselves to others, Scorpios are busy just living their life, which makes them a magnet for people who'll find their sincereness refreshing.
#6. Sagittarius
Extroverted, positive, and naturally charming, Sagittarians are the kind of people everyone wants to hang out with.
Though they often have a large group of friends, they have the ability to make everyone feel important and seen, which is why Sagittarius's circle of friends is constantly growing.
Sagittarians enjoy pursuing a different range of activities and hobbies, which makes them endlessly interesting to others, as they're brimming with anecdotes and funny stories that others love listening to.
It's a bit of a vicious circle too, as the more people Sagittarius meets, the more likely they're to embark in a new adventure, which will then lead to a new story to share, which in turn will earn them more friends, and so on.
It's easy to see why everyone loves hanging out with Sagittarians.
lysander and lily luna headcanons even though they’re such a rarepair:
did not like each other at first, would always argue every time luna and ginny would force them to play together (broke their hearts a bit, as having kids the same age inspired dreams of them becoming best friends)
it was never ‘screaming in face’ arguing though, it was more lily crying because lysander didn’t agree with her or something and lysander giving her the silent treatment
this was usually because they were very different people: lysander was a shy, quiet studious ravenclaw, always cautiously pondering over every thought or action or word before he enacted them, always the cautionary, well-dressed with mud on his cuffs. lily was loud, vocal, infectious in her moods like the sun affecting the weather of the world. no wonder lysander felt so small around her (he was never small to her)
they both hung out a lot because of lorcan though, who would (along with ginny and luna, who would not accept them not being friends) force them to hang out
they drifted apart a little when they got to hogwarts as all three of them got separated into three different houses
when lysander came out as trans lily sent him this huge list with a bunch of boy names she thought suited him and it filled sander with a sick sense of glee and guilt to letter her back saying he already chose a name (lily approved of ‘lysander,’ because it rhymes with his last name, and sander pretended to be upset that she mentioned it but he was secretly pleased she picked up on that).
lysander also moved away to live with his dad in romania for a while, completing his last schooling years there
they only really started to reconnect when lily went to visit her uncle charlie there for an internship. lysander helped her catch up on all sorts of magical creatures that she needed to know for her internship, and when her genuine curiosity pushed him to teach her more and more (despite how he’s more interested in the habitats of these creatures rather than the creatures themselves), he began to like her more and show more of a secret nerdy side
they become parents to approximately: four bowtruckles, one jarvey, a fire crab, two knarls, a hippocampus and a dozen pygmy puffs
when lily left her internship early, coming to the conclusion that she didnt want to pursue being a mazoologist as a career, she and lysander fought again, but this was the explosive type, not the type they had when they were kids
people such as their mothers, brothers and friends like to call this “the divorce”, because lily has gone on tangents with her mates about how cruel and cold sander is towards her that will eventually end in tears with how much she misses him and sander will literally not talk about her at all despite the months and months of only talking about lily, and when she’s so much as mentioned, he will physically leave the room
it takes a lot of letter-writing (funnily enough initiated by the emotional wall that is lysander who writes to her about menial stuff, such as updates on the creatures as he knows she had always cared for them) and demanding (lily, who immediately lectures sander on only writing about the creatures and nothing about himself because, as said, he’s an emotional wall) for them to build a relationship again
lysander comes back to england to visit his mother and him and lily hang out and its SO obvious there is tension there but lysander is stupid when hes in love and lily has her father’s obliviousness so it still takes so much stage work from lorcan to have these two actually get together (he will be later compensated with a shoutout at their wedding)
then they get together and people are surprised that the dynamic has only reverted to how they were in romania. aka lily non stop talking about lysander (not in a gushy way, she just mentions him bc random things remind her of him) and he is just BRANDED by her (hes wearing all the girly shit she buys him because they match her aesthetic in her closet and he just wants to make her happy)
her love language is recieving gifts so sander learns to be crafty. hes not good with words so the least he can do is be creative with what he gives her
lily texts like “IN ALL CAPS LIEK THIS??!?! 🫶💗😋‼️🗣️🗣️ “ and sander texts “like this.” hes dry asf
their minds are both messy asf but for some reason theyre always more concerned about the organisation of the other then themselves so they balance each other out
its the type of love where shes drinking iced chocolate he made for her and hes drinking iced tea with too much sugar in it, and they’re on the porch shirtless because its sweltering hot summer, and she’s hashing up years old gossip hes heard thrice now because she already tells him everything ever
when lily’s bored she draws on him in pen
lily gets super excited when sander gets tanned because he freckles under the sun and shes also extremely freckley so theyre like freckle buds
lily loses her glasses all the time, and when shes walking around blind asf looking for them she be squinting at whats two feet in front of her and sander finds it adorable, her whole face scrunches up
lysander is so dark academia and sherlock holmes and lilys so hello kitty, maneater mini skirts and pink supremacy
hate watch things together and call it a ‘date’
poppy wright and alex nilsen vibes sorta
ofc she makes them matching jewellery. ofc she proposes to him with said jewellery
OMG! The new chapter of ''Love Me Back'' is so much. How can something that starts like this chapter end up so badly? As with any good story, I knew the angst was around the corner, but what an ending.😳
I loved how you put her mental issues out in the open, with her thoughts and the therapy session in the first part of the chapter. It makes her more realistic, complex, and easier to comprehend. I totally get her. I share some of her thoughts, but at the same time, this chapter made me a bit angry. I hope the next part makes sense at the end. The mix of feelings this chapter made me feel is murky. Which shows me how well-written I found it and how much I liked it.
Self-worth can be a tricky thing, especially when starting a new relationship adds the fear of showing your true self and being rejected, a thing she's already gone through by the glimpses of her past relationships. Being told you're not girlfriend/wife material can create deep wounds, increasing her mental health struggles.
Their relationship is new, and they still have a lot to settle. I know WORDS are IMPORTANT, and they are needed, but seeing Joel show her with his actions what he wants (after all, he wouldn't let anyone get close to his daughter and develop a connection) while the reader is not able to acknowledge it, is frustrating. Not talking beforehand makes the whole situation way worse. The offer of take of Sarah, I feel like she might not be using her words yet, but she's putting herself out. She's trying to give Joel what he needs and be someone he can rely on, to be a team. The pain of Joel's rejection, coupled with his initial lack of attention, causes everything to explode. When, for once, she has the strength to defend herself and express her feelings, it's one of the worst moments.
I would love to read Joel's thoughts on the whole scene. He has so many fronts at the same time. I'm not excusing him because he could have handled the whole situation better (both of them could have). He also has his struggles and anxieties clouding his perception of the reader's emotions, making it harder for him to open himself and accept help. I hope the situation gets solved soon.
I trust you can pull out something from my ramble and that it wasn't too much, lol.😅 Thanks for the chapter! Despite preferring fluff, I'm a sucker for angst like the one you wrote.♥️
Ahhh im so glad you enjoyed it and got something out of it!!! i definitely think that new relationships are a massive catalyst for self worth issues because its such a vulnerable state to be in and youre so afraid of the other person finding something out about you thats suddenly a dealbreaker and just peacing out.
LMB girl has held soooo much back from joel, thinking shes shielding him from it, and it blows up in her face so bad cause she has this vault of crap thats bound to explode open with one little bad vibe from joel, even though theyre both misplacing their frustration. ive tried to make this fic as realistic as possible, and i think a lot of us have had periods of bottling things up and not being able to expect when the last drop hits
the whole series having such a mental health focus wasnt my intention when i started writing it - my initial idea was for it to be more FWB centered actually, but ive ended up including so much of my own experiences with self worth issues and subsequent healing, and that has made the whole thing more interesting i think
joels thoughts come out in ch 7!!!
so glad youre willing to suffer through my angst, and theres a lot of fluff coming up which is very uncharacteristic for me but we all need to see joel and his crab girl happy - they deserve it hahaha
thanks for sticking around, i love reading your detailed thoughts on the chapters <3 <3 <3
I don't usually make posts like this, but I said I would. So Herr are my thoughts on
The Live Action Little Mermaid
Tumblr media
First and foremost: HALLE BAILEY IS AN AMAZING ARIEL!!!!
I never had my doubts about her from what I saw in the trailer. But HOLY HELL she brought the animated mermaid to LIFE with how she played her! Her voice, her expressions, her acting! It all flowed together and I could see Ariel, not someone playing as Ariel. The same goes to the rest of the actors!
And Ariel took more initiative in this film too! She did do a little of that in the original (actively breaking the rules to pursue her passion, taking a leap of faith to try to join the land and have her love, etc) but she seems more involved in the live action film. And not in a way that tries to hammer in the 'girl power' message either (children should have good role models. But when the feminist message starts to take away from the story and becomes that characters' entire personality, that's a bit too much). Ariel here was crafty and wanted to unite the two worlds, but remained her old bubbly and curious self!
Not to mention, Eric! First of all, I loved his performance in the film just as much as Ariel. And they made him more likable too! Like Ariel in the original, Eric was a bit more developed than other prince's in the original film (talking about how he'd not going to go through an arranged marriage, having fun with his love interest instead of just saving her, etc). Though, he was still a kinda bland character. In the live action though, Eric is not just Ariels prince. He feels like he's actually her second half. And the decision to make their goals and backgrounds similar also sheds a new light on Eric and Ariels relationship that the original didn't quite have.
And of course, I can't forget Ursula. I'll admit, I had a slight doubt when I heard they were casting Melissa McCarthy as Ursula. Not because I don't like her, I actually love her in her films. But I've never seen Melissa play a fairytale villain, so I wasn't sure how it would go to have a raunchy comedy actress starring as the sea witch. But BOY HOWDY, Melissa quickly dashed my those fears away. She brought her own spin to the character while also being the sassy, intimidating, deal maker we all know and love! And not to mention her singing voice. Holy. Shit. Melissa, you gotta play more characters like Ursula.
And the same applies to all the other characters! From Ariels friends and her family, all the actors and actresses' brought a whole new life to the characters they were casted as! Including the new ones, such as Eric's mother! Honestly, that's pretty much how this whole movie felt. It felt like I was watching a fairy tale brought to life once again, and not an exact repeat of the original nor a butchered version. They kept a lot of the original script and songs, while also adding new things. Eric and Scuttle got their own songs, some locations were changed but they felt like they worked with 2023 Little Mermaid, and the decision to make the film take place on the Caribbean Islands was a very interesting choice that they made work!!
And I CAN NOT finish this post without mentioning the CGI, beautiful visuals, and character design! All if the graphics were just... AHHH! I can't even describe it. The cast felt like they actually were under water with the changed gravity, and the stunning way they animated the animals. Speaking of which! Yes, they did change the characters' designs, and some of them are goofy, such as Flounder. But they are just as cute too!! And they gave the animals E X P R E S S I O N S!!! This isn't a repeat of the live action Lion King. Through body language, eye movement, and voice, these character genuinely feel like they are living!!! My personal favorite thing about the CGI is that they still gave Sebastian the realistic crab eyes, but animated them so you can still see where he's looking and what he's feeling!!
I found only ONE fatal flaw, though... They did not have Sebastians arch nemesis, the Chef (I'm just kidding. I'm a bit disappointed the Chef wasn't in here, but that's a personal thing and not like a 'the movie is ruined' thing)
Conclusion? Go see The Little Mermaid. Please. You WILL NOT REGRET IT.
In all seriousness, I was a little disappointed when there weren't as many vocals/back up singers in the songs 'Under the Sea' or 'Kiss the Girl', but that's not at all a bad thing. That's just my nostalgia being nit-picky XD and they did make those songs work! It was awesome to hear Ariel and Sebastian sing together, and her friends ACTUALLY working together instead of Sebastian carrying the majority of this operation on his shell.
Carey and Orion?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
who made the first move: Carewyn. Carey-bear honestly ends up wearing the pants a lot in her relationship with Orion, and when it came to them confessing to each other, even though Orion ultimately confessed first, Carewyn was the one who initiated all of their significant shifts physical affection-wise (holding shoulders, hugging, hand-holding, even eventually kissing).
who kissed who first: As touched on above, Carewyn! Though it was very short and chaste. Orion immediately reciprocated with a much deeper kiss himself.
who started the relationship: Carewyn and Orion, in two joint decisions. Orion was the one who proposed they settle for being solely monogamous romantic partners, rather than pursuing a marriage neither of them was interested in. Carewyn being the planner of the two was the one who later proposed becoming legal partners, so that their respective children would have a support network if something bad happened to Carewyn or Orion.
who remembers things: Carewyn, being the more organized of the two. Orion doesn't have a bad memory, but he can sometimes get lost in his own thoughts and feelings in the here and now and not look at the long-term.
nicknames for each other: Orion most often calls Carewyn "his Abraxan," as a reference to their shared Patronus forms, but he'll also slip into other things, like "my love," "my dear," and even "little Fire Crab," whenever her "inner fire" is particularly heated. (Just like back at school, Orion never calls her "Carey" or "Winnie" like her friends or family do.) Carewyn doesn't use pet names with Orion much at all, but sometimes she'll call Orion "Starlight," as a play off of his name, when she's feeling particularly affectionate.
who is more likely to pay for dinner: When they do go out to eat, they split the bill, but they're more likely to eat at home.
who normally cooks: Orion and Carewyn often cook together, though Orion is a more experienced cook than Carewyn. Carewyn actually tries hard to get better at cooking vegetarian-friendly meals after entering a relationship with Orion.
who remembers anniversaries: Carewyn, but mostly because they'd be on her calendar, even if she forgot them. I don't see Orion or Carewyn doing much for their anniversary, preferring to just stick to birthdays and Christmas.
what would they get each other for gifts: Orion leaves flowers and other such tokens for Carewyn sometimes, just to surprise her. More formally, he's likely to give her small, personalized gifts that make him think of her for whatever reason -- one Christmas he gave Carewyn a singing clam shell from one of the selkies in the ocean near his home in Montrose, some earrings that he thought would bring out her eyes, and a salt lamp, due to their reported benefit to people's sleeping patterns. Carewyn is also big on the personalized gifts, but she's more likely to plan things for Orion and her to do together, such as Quidditch matches or other events, as well as to give him music records she thinks he'll like. She's also good about giving Orion new broom equipment -- broom polish is a very common stocking stuffer she gives Orion every year.
most trivial thing they fight over: Carewyn is a planner, and Orion is anything but. Carewyn can sometimes get a little bent out of shape if things don't go according to her plan, and Orion usually has to soothe Carewyn whenever that happens.
how often do they fight: Almost never. Orion is a very soothing and calming influence on Carewyn's life, and Carewyn is a very encouraging and empowering influence on Orion's, so they almost never come to blows.
who uses all the hot water: Orion, but only because he loves soaking in hot baths to unwind after a very long day of training.
who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working: They don't live together, so they would both take care of their respective house's issues, if they had to.
who leaves their stuff around: Orion. He's very much "que sera, sera" about where stuff ends up and lets things just fall where they may.
who remembers to buy the milk: Both, though Carewyn would remember because she's organized and Orion would remember because his daily wanderings brought him past the grocers and the thought returned to his mind.
who controls the netflix queue: When it comes to watching movies at Carewyn's flat, Carewyn will come up with several suggestions, and then Orion will pick one out of those options.
who steals the covers at night: Carewyn. She gets cold! She and Orion don't sleep together all the time, though, and Orion looks upon this habit of hers with fondness rather than frustration.
who cusses more: Carewyn, but barely. Neither of them swear that much, but Carewyn has more of a temper than Orion, even if she's lady-like enough to not indulge in swearing that much. If anything it's Carewyn's son ward Erik Apollo who's the real potty mouth.
who does most of the cleaning: Again, they live separately, but Carewyn is a neat freak, so she definitely cleans more.
what’s their favorite non-sexual activity: Midnight broom rides! Whenever they can do it, it always brightens Orion up like a star.
who’s the cuddler: Neither! Both are on the ace spectrum, so they're actually not huge on cuddling. They're more likely to sit side by side, hold hands or kiss each other's cheeks, forehead, or shoulder than get way up in each other's personal space.
who’s the big spoon/little spoon: Orion as big spoon, Carewyn as little spoon, but only because of their height difference.
who’s more dominant: Carewyn, definitely. She's more assertive and opinionated about most things, so Orion is very content to play the yin to her yang and follow her lead.
who is the dirty talker: Neither -- again, both being on the ace spectrum, neither of them are big into bedroom talk. Even when gray-A Orion fancies anything more intimate with Carewyn and ace Carewyn obliges, they don't talk that much, aside from communicating intent and reassessing comfort levels.
what do they do when they’re away from each other: Their own thing, really! The crux of their romantic and legal partnership is that they live their own separate lives in their own separate homes and with their own separate careers, but are monogamous in their commitment to each other and get together whenever they can.
what would they do if the other one was hurt: If Carewyn was hurt, Orion would freeze like a deer in the headlights. He's quietly fought with anxiety since he was a very young child, and one of the most severe anxiety attacks Orion's ever experienced was during the Quidditch Cup Final in his seventh year when Carewyn was badly hurt by a Bludger. He would then probably fret over Carewyn for a long while before he could regain his composure. If Orion was hurt, Carewyn would rush to check if Orion was all right and then probably immediately fight back against whoever had hurt him. Depending on how severe Orion's injury was, I could even see Carewyn temporarily lose her head and lash out violently against the person for daring to hurt her lover so badly.
a headcanon: Carewyn's mother Lane takes to Orion pretty much immediately, upon meeting him. She doesn't understand what he's saying a lot of the time, but she appreciates his mellow, quiet affect, and she especially loves how much his eyes light up while talking to Carewyn.
OH GOD Dazaiiiiiii. I hope you can't see how red my face is right now.... Umm yes. I. I wouldn't mind that. You know I'll malfunction if you say stuff like thatttttttttttt 😭😭
For real though that sounds even better. Entering into the afterlife with someone I adore AND while enjoying beach!!! It just sounds so peaceful? AND painless. Now this has become my top favourite method of unaliving. 🥳
Drowning is still second favourite though 😌
However............... I actually can't exactly try unaliving cause... Well. I made a promise to my friends... I think it's a similar matter with you? You made a promise that you are trying to fulfil too, right? So.... I guess we both have to stay in this world for a little longer then....
And cooking. Haha yes. I think one can't truly learn cooking without burning stuff first. I too almost burnt my house down when I initially started💀
I'd like to try your instant ramen tho👀
If that's alright with you.... No pressure.
Do you add any personal touches to your instant ramen? Cause I think you still might have a good understanding of flavours. 👀And if needed, I can help too. It might be fun? Cooking together.... We can make crab ramen? 👀
(To the admin- HMFHKOUGCUOYXIXR THANKS! I think you are really cool and sweet too!! I'm glad to be back!! I had tons of assignments 💀 Alas, student life is a hectic one. )
-🥀
red-faced from a remark as simple as that? maybe I do need to kiss you.
drowning is a classic, it takes a while and it's unbearably painful in the last seconds but it's quite a good starter method, if I do say so myself.
it's lovely you made a promise like that, truly. I hope you find happiness here in this life long enough to live out the promise.
my ramen is pretty basic, I just have the broth and water. sometimes I'll eat the noodles raw, they're rather lovely. other times maybe I'll add an egg, but usually nothing fancy.
whats your favourite dish to make, would you say?
( haha yeah, school life is kicking everyone in the ass. gotta wait for the terms to be over I suppose. )
Bubble Bubble, Toil and Troubleshooting
Hey there, punch crabs. Welp, we're on our finale for our third Goosebumps story arc in a row. Not much to say about that, I guess! Let's just get into it and see how it ends~
Here's the cover:
Tumblr media
Well, this is a nice, threatening cover! Not the scariest, but who doesn't love some good old-fashioned child endangerment? And hey, soup's on! Won't you three stay for a spell~? Smoke rising in the shape of a skull is always a favourite of mine, too. Getting mixed messages about them being tied with rope, but lowered by a chain, though. Like, can't you pick one? Or none, since you have magic powers? Anyways, we almost got away from the pink sunset skies this cover, but those candles are putting out a pretty rosy glow~
So, after defeating their sentimental keepsakes, the trio (seen above) is ambushed by a gargoyle atop the town hall. And all because a witch moved into a house previously unsold since the '70s. But if you're expecting a cool continuation from that cliffhanger, prepare to be disappointed! This issue picks up with our trio of heroes being unceremoniously dumped in Veruca's living room. No gargoyle fight here! This is basically as close as one of those anti-climax chapter endings that the regular Goosebumps books like to do~
Veruca enters the room, backed by her gargoyle bodyguard--her bodygarg, if you will--and offers the kids an extended hand of friendship, and also some freshly brewed green tea. They take neither, because kids today are just plain rude. Veruca goes into a full-on "tech demo reveal" to explain her backstory and motivations. And here is the main connection to any other Goosebumps story: Veruca here is the granddaughter of Sarabeth, the witch from the original “Monster Blood” book. See, Download and Die? That's all you need! Not four different convoluted references that go nowhere~
So, as you might guess from her whole deal, Veruca is taking a leaf from Professor Croix's spellbook and combining magic with modern technology. Her grimoire is a tablet computer, yadda yadda. Her big plan is to use the Whaley House as an amplifier antenna to mind-control the whole rest of the town. And if things go well, perhaps... the entire world?? Muhuahaha? Bit ambitious, aren’t we? That's what the renovations to her house have been about. But of course, one person can't run the whole world. And that's why she's making the "we can rule together" speech to a bunch of tweens. Wouldn't be my first choice, but get 'em while they're young, I guess~
None of the kids go for it, which is surprising in itself. Like, not even the least bit tempted? Nope, they just barrel past Veruca in an almost rehearsed move, pushing her grimoire out of her hands, so she has to take a moment to not drop it and thus can't retaliate. Becca winds a nearby curtain around the bodygarg's eyes, and they slip past it as well. They bolt from the house, and head out for help. I'd like to know what authority they're hoping to go for to help with a mind-controlling witch, and Veruca doesn't seem too bothered either.
The kids actually return to the town hall they were initially meeting at. Ah, kids, too innocent to have a cynicism about their local government yet. They burst in on the mayor and begin babbling their story. Don't worry, though, kids! The mayor absolutely believes your accusations--and, in fact, he thinks you ought to take Veruca's deal. Yeah, unsurprisingly, they're already all under mind control. In fact, as the kids run out again, so are most of the adults in the town. They quickly whip themselves into a torch-carrying mob.
Well, with a whole dang town of adults after them now, the trio resolves to go back to the Witch's House and confront the Horrors therein directly. They go in through the window, and the bodygarg is on them almost immediately. Becca grabs a nearby hammer and leaps on him. This gives the other two the chance to slip by and into the basement. Clearly not a follow-up to "Stay Out of The Basement". Veruca is here, and she's lording over her knowledge of modern technology over the other witches on her friendlist. The way she's cackling over "They can't even use smartphones" feels like an apology for the "okay boomber" way smartphones were treated in the last story~
However, as soon as they get close, Carlos decides to take Veruca's deal. She's not surprised, Carlos' fashion-forward senses make him an obvious target for not living in the past and lording his success over others. But before you think this is a betrayal, it's actually just a distraction so Rosie can snatch the tablet again. Carlos trips Veruca, giving Rosie time to run up the stairs. Becca then runs to a nearby bucket of water and dumps the tablet in it, shorting it out. Why do witches always have those lying around their lair~?
Veruca's pretty salty now. And just to show this is exactly as stupid and contrived as in Wizard of Oz, when she rushes over to retrieve the tablet, they trip her again, spilling the bucket of water onto her. And this does indeed cause her to melt into a puddle of goo, rather graphically too. So much for her being modern!
But the twist is: The kids all go home, the spell now broken on the town. Back at each of their respective houses, they pick up from their attacks. Becca cleans up her trophies, Carlos starts re-stitching his sock monkey... And Rosie? Rosie starts charging her tablet. The one she picked up from the witch's house. The one now emitting some menacing laughter...
Questionable Parenting: Rosie’s parents note that their daughter is a friendless nerd right in front of her, and also permit her to go to a public event unsupervised late at night. Minority Alert: Becca and Carlos are both darker-skinned than Rosie, but oddly there are no apparent LGBT+ characters in this storyline. R.L. Stine Shows He’s Down With The Kids: This is two stories in a row where modern tablet computers and smartphones drive the plot, though in this case, it’s in the hands of the villains. Kind of puts a negative view on it either way, doesn’t it~? Rosie also watches anime and owns a Funko Pop, which makes her the perfect vessel to inherit the evils in the ending.
Honestly? Of the three we did so far, this one might be the best. It’s very focused on a single idea--a witch has moved into town, what do?--and only has very passing references to previous Goosebumps stories. The idea of witches using modern tech to bolster their spellcasting abilities is nothing particularly novel, but it’s a solid concept nonetheless. The ending, on the other hand, is really kind of lame and contrived, but that’s Goosebumps for you~
Next week: one final Goosebumps arc, and it’s a longer one than previously, so settle at least through the new year~
