Venti: I don't go drinking with Focalors anymore, cause the last time I did she told me which archons she would kill in what order if the purge was real, then when she saw a dead rat on the side of the road she wouldn't stop crying until I promised her I would find it's murderer
So I’ve made a few references to Steve being an Excel guy as an adult (because someone had to be in charge of Steve and Eddie’s money and it certainly wasn’t going to be Eddie).
He’s got the classic spreadsheets – monthly budget, college savings projections, income tracking because he and Eddie both work jobs with variable incomes (Steve is a counselor and Eddie is an author), the whole nine yards.
Steve also has some “extracurricular” spreadsheets. I’ve talked about how Steve has a spreadsheet tracking the combinations of Mario Kart racers/vehicles he tries out (there’s a ranking system involved, it’s very complex). He’s got one for his fantasy football league, obviously, and he and Moe put money on their March Madness brackets so there’s a spreadsheet for that too.
Eddie’s personal favorite is the one comparing monthly expenses by kid, which isn’t exactly a necessary metric per se, but from it stems a game Steve and Eddie secretly play: who is the most expensive Harrington daughter?
The winner tends to rotate throughout the year, but Hazel is usually their least expensive child in the long run. She does ballet, which isn’t too bad when she’s little but then she graduates to pointe shoes, and Steve had no idea that not only do pointe shoes set you back $100 minimum, they also wear out ridiculously fast, and, as he’s been told many times, you can’t wear the dead ones.
Moe usually takes that top spot in the winter – elite basketball teams aren’t cheap by any stretch of the imagination, and then in high school she gets into snowboarding, which is somehow even more expensive. She’s also consistently the reason they hit their health insurance deductible every year.
Robbie is their overall most expensive kid by a mile. She drove up their car insurance by getting into an accident a month after she got her driver's license, had braces for five years, and the prescription on her glasses has changed every eighteen months since she was seven. She’s notorious for breaking her phone, so she racks up quite a tab in that regard too (the one year they got a protection plan was also the one year she had no phone-related incidents, so they didn’t even bother renewing it – they just make her suffer with a cracked screen for a few months before they finally drag her to the mall to get it fixed). There’s also the year Eddie bought her an electric violin which was, naturally, not cheap (Eddie argues it shouldn’t count because he was the brains behind that operation).
more of my oc tervis (any pronouns), the creepiest most miserable little weirdo in town. which is saying something [id under cut]
/ ID: four digital drawings.
The first image is a series of drawings of Tervis on a paper-textured background. A heading at the top reads 'Tervis (Humble)'. One is a coloured headshot of Tervis looking to the left; they have a gaunt face, short receding hair, a scar bisecting their lip and right eyebrow, greyish skin, and are wearing a red shawl around their neck. An arrow pointing at their right eye reads 'one blue eye (mostly blind)'; another arrow pointing at their left eye reads 'one brown eye'. They have a serious, hostile expression. The second drawing is an uncoloured full-body sketch of Tervis. Next to this is the same drawing but coloured and with more polished lineart. Tervis is a thin, hunched figure wearing a long, dark brown robe, a greyish bag on their back, and a red shawl around their head and neck. They are barefoot, and are leaning on a walking staff with both hands. An arrow pointing to the walking staff reads 'needed for walking, useful for hitting'. Tied to the belt around their waist are several long scrolls of paper with writing on them. An arrow pointing to the scrolls reads ''blessings' they paste on infected houses'. Tervis is looking warily out at the viewer from beneath their eyebrows. An arrow pointing to their head reads 'scar from getting hit in the face with a brick (also knocked out a tooth)'. Alongside these drawings are a series of bullet points giving information about Tervis. These read:
indeterminate age, indeterminate gender
religious fanatic (unclear which religion)
lives alone somewhere in the steppe
dislikes everyone but is nicer to children than anyone else
has every disease
The second image is a fake screenshot from the video game Pathologic. Tervis is looking out at the viewer; the background shows scenery from the steppe. The text on screen reads:
CHANGELING: I still don’t see what you could have done that would make you personally responsible for this plague.
TERVIS: Responsible… no, not merely responsible! This is my plague, cast upon my head alone. I am the originator; my sin is at the root of all. I have ventured into the town. I have seen the canker there. No matter how many houses I bless, my sickness sinks deeper. The rotted limb is the death of the body… Surely you understand me. You are a healer, are you not?
CHANGELING: What is it that you are asking me to do?
TERVIS: Let me be the lamb, worker of miracles! My blood shall wet the earth, and bright flowers shall grow… My putrefaction will provide the soil within which new life will burgeon, pure and free of sin and decay. Let it be done. I am ready. My failing flesh is but little sacrifice; in death my weakness will be my strength. Soon these torments will be at an end.
Below are two dialogue options:
You’re insane!
What makes you so sure your death would solve anything?
The third image is a fake screenshot from the video game Pathologic 2. Tervis is looking out at the viewer, and has been painted in semi-realistic style. The text on screen reads:
Tervis: Why do you force me to live? Damn you! Your cure is poison to me. Now I shall never be blessed. You should have left me to bleed.
Below are three dialogue options:
Don’t be absurd. I wasn’t going to watch you die.
What makes you think you deserve suffering?
I wish I had.
At the bottom of the image is a line of dialogue which Tervis has just spoken:
The air is foul. There is rot in this place. The stench of corruption shall be – what was it? What was it? The stench of corruption shall be… swept aside…
The fourth image is a coloured scene depicting Tervis and Clara. They are central in the composition; around them is the steppe, which has been rendered in a loose, painterly style. Tervis is kneeling, their walking staff cast aside, and are reaching out their hands to Clara in a desperate, pleading gesture. They are crying, their face contorted in an expression of agonised ecstasy. Clara stands beside them, one hand reaching out, the other held above Tervis’s head as though about to touch their brow. She has a solemn, pained expression. Behind her head, a break in the dark clouds gives the impression that she is haloed by sunlight; rays of the same light fall onto Tervis, illuminating their face and red robe. End ID. /
It does feel pretty good that Charles has just been confirming everything I have been saying about the SF-24 and his specific tyre management and warming issue improvement across the season so far.
Charles I am so glad I can read you through your car and driving.
Interrupting your regularly scheduled broadcast to show you this super fun halloween commission i had the absolute pleasure of working on. This guy was a blast to draw~
*Info and links for my commissions in pinned post*
Once upon a time, there lived two princes in a kingdom, one as beautiful as the other.
One was as cheerful and radiant as the sun.
The other as quiet and beautiful as the moon.
But as the years passed, a darkness settled over the hearts of the two princes.
Blinded by their own vanity, they began to play with the feelings of those around them as if they were their toys.
Toys of which they soon grew tired and replaced them with the next one.
When one of the foolish toys confessed their love to one of them, their favorite game began.
They loved to find out how quickly they could make the heart of their brother's toy waver and win it over, only to drop it carelessly afterwards.
For many years the game continued as they lined up one broken heart after another.
They believed whoever would one day stand at their side would have to be just as perfect, beautiful and clever as they were.
But as it is always the case in such stories, their actions were followed by a severe consequence.
After breaking the heart of a young human girl, a frail old woman appeared the next day in the halls of the princes' father, the king.
The king, who always treated his people wisely and with justice, listened to the old woman, who had come to him with a warning.
A warning that if the princes continued to walk the path they had taken so far, they would soon find the ugly shadows that lay on their hearts revealed for all to see.
The princes merely laughed at the old hag's words and dismissed it as an empty threat.
Not suspecting that their once so wonderful shapes would become nothing more than a distant memory.
About the curse:
The effects of the curse are directly linked with their hearts. The more egotistical, snobby, and insensitive they are towards others, the more the curse affects their appearance.
As a result, if they learned to open their hearts for others again and become truly kind and so on, they would return to their original appearance.
Y/N part in this:
And then there's you. You have been working at the court as a servant for two years. Your uncle got you this job through some connections.
Most of the time you are busy cleaning or helping out wherever you are needed. Cleaning out stables, helping to peel potatoes in the kitchen, carrying boxes from A to B… Doesn't matter. You do it all without a single complain.
The only thing you are not entrusted with is taking care of guests or the nobles living in the castle.
Not because they wouldn't trust you to do it, but because of the visible burn scars on your face. People are worried that it might make the guests uncomfortable or that silly rumors about mistreatment of the servants might start.
That's why you're usually more in the background.
Annoying, but it can't be helped.
At least you are able to move around the castle relatively freely, and that's something.
After all, you promised to come back.
Admittedly, you didn't think at the time that you would have to become a servant to do so.
But since the fire that not only took away your parents, but also turned your life completely upside down, almost nothing had been easy anymore.
However, when you heard the rumors about the princes' strange behavior, you had hoped that it was really nothing more than silly talk.
It seemed impossible to you that the lovely boys of the past would be capable of such behavior.
And you still remember well how much fun you had as children during that one week of the great feast at the castle twelve years ago.
And that even though you were only a human. Just the child of merchants who had been allowed to set up a stall in the palace courtyard.
And yet somehow it just clicked between you all and you three gave each other a promise.
They also gave you something when you parted. A pendant that you wear on a band around your neck. The royal crest is carved into the gemstone on it. For you, the sentimental value attached to the pendant is far greater than anything else. However, you know that it is smarter not to wear such a thing openly, so you always keep it hidden under your clothes.
Probably your old promise is the reason why you are still here after two years instead of looking for a job somewhere in the city and leaving the past and the castle behind.
Because you can't understand how the two princes could change so much.
You're pretty sure they don't know who you are to this day. Not to mention that most of the time they don't take any notice of you anyway and if they do… let's say you don't feel like listening to more stupid comments when they do happen to take notice of your existence.
And then the day comes when the curse hits Sun and Moon.
You have only heard what some of the guards and other servants in the castle tell each other about it.
The rumors are vague at best, and you constantly hear different things regarding the effects of the curse.
The only thing that is clear is that the princes suddenly won't come out of their chambers and won't let any of the servants see them.
You would like to ask about them. To know how they are doing.
Two months pass in which you don't get to see them at all.
And then everything seems to happen at once.
During your cleaning duty in one of the large halls, the pendant slips over your shirt, one of the guards notices it and becomes aware of it, because he recognizes the royal crest on it.
Immediately you are accused of being a thief and have the great misfortune or rather the luck to be brought before the king, who first listens to the guards before he also allows you to explain yourself.
You do not hope that he will believe you, but what can you do besides telling the truth?
That you received the pendant many years ago from the two princes themselves.
That it was a parting gift from them to you.
You don't tell him the reasons for your return to the castle or mention the promise you made to the princes.
And you deny the question whether you told the princes about your shared past.
You are not sure what is going on in the king's mind as he stares at you in silence for a while, thinking about your fate.
But then he nods and orders the guards to let you go.
He knows that you are telling him the truth.
After all, he himself asked his sons about the whereabouts of the pendant many years ago.
And unlike you, he also knows the significance of the pendant that his sons gave away at such a young age.
However, he remains silent about these things, and yet, to your amazement, asks if you would be willing to assist the princes as their personal servant.
The turn of events surprises you a little, but hesitantly you agree.
Perhaps this will finally bring you closer to the truth about why they have changed so much.
The king, at least, seems pleased with your agreement, but asks you and the guards to keep quiet about the pendant. Even from the princes themselves.
This doesn't strike you as a problem.
So you agree and from then on begins a rather difficult time with two unbearable jerks in which you regret more than once to have agreed to serve them.

I will tag sketches for this au with cursed princes au.
