Dunno why but felt like saying this after seeing your posts. I was once a shipper in the fandom, liking both canon x canon and canon x oc ships, until I saw something that made me uncomfortable with the first of the two. That is until I've reached your account.

Sure, I was cautious with ship content (not that I'm saying it's a bad thing. Just made me kinda uncomfortable after that incident) but when I let my guard down and saw some of your posts, I realized that maybe not every shipper is as....uh...y'know the type of people I'm talking about right?

All I'm saying is...thank you. Because of your adorable posts (and the balance of both types of ships [canonxcanon and ocxcanon. I love PriceRaven so much istg]), I tried to look for artists like you. Thanks to you, I can also go and try to find artists similar to yours in context of shipping. And I did and I did not regret it (even if I don't ship anymore, but it was delightful to see the things people create now that I've...healed from it?).

I'm still trying to be careful in the fandom with the things going on. But seriously though, thanks a lot! If there's one thing this fandom needs is people like you. Ones who don't cause a fuss and also knows boundaries when shipping as well. No hate, no discomfort. If people say otherwise and hate on you because of shipping content, damn them. They should be grateful if anything as you did nothing wrong and just wanted to create what you wish.

Im sorry for what you went through, fandom often do come with its uhhh moments to say the least, im glad you've healed from it and is able to enjoy things the way they are at your own pace

its definitely good to curate your own space, adjust your settings and block out on things that are uncomfortable, even though there are still some things that will definitely pop up despite the cautious measures, but hey! shit happens and the most important thing is to understand that you're not alone in this, and take a rest from the media once in awhile

Im actually really touched that you find my page a nice place to visit ((yes PriceRaven is like my bread and butter I cant live without them and will yap about them forever)) which also lead you to other artists!

im straightforward, Im okay with almost anything interest wise in the fandom (ships/dynamic/fics genre etc), if im not okay with it i'll just move on or mute/block certain words, simple as it should be.

i really love your blog, some of the things you say have been super important to me and ive kept them with me in my mind as a biracial kid heavily involved in this type of music.

i dunno i guess i just wanted to say thank you for saying the things you say and preaching the things you do? it's been really hard to find someone older to look up to in this scene and lately i've felt really alone in a sense especially looks wise. especially because its summer. im not pale as the other emo kids and i dont straighten my hair because one step outside and it frizzes up like crazy and i just feel super spread out from the rest. i've felt like an outcast

Im white and raised in a very white society so i will never have a say in it, but i was wondering, is there any way i can educate myself more in asian/chinese culture? Im aware i consume content thru western lens and because of that i dont really get all the nuances of the shows, but i would like to have at least some backround. Hey friend! Not offensive at all, no worries. Honestly, I’m not too sure. I think just keeping an open mind about things is a really good start. I’m not really sure which blogs to recommend but if I could recommend some dramas? Since it’s probably easier to watch a show then read a book?

《The Story of Minglan》 is a good one to sort of parse out the intricacy of historical Chinese society in the Song Dynasty, keeping in mind that different dynasties have different practices, so even amongst different time periods there were differences. 《The Story of Yanxi Palace》 is another good one for Qing Dynasty (circa 1740s) if you wanna get into imperial harem stuff. (Or you can watch 《甄嬛传》 or 《如���传》 for harem stuff. I just think The Story of Yanxi Palace is the most palatable, most aesthetic, and most fun out of the three. The other two are kinda tragic?) There are other dramas but I feel they’re not as... accessible?

Chinese historical dramas come in 3 flavours: serious dramas, idol dramas, and those that ride the fence. What I mean by idol drama is...everyone in it is young and hot and the writing is eh and the acting is eh. More often then not there’s a lot of modern elements to it. The Untamed is so popular because it’s idol drama done really well.  (xianxia and wuxia genre used to be more quality when I was a kid, but now they’re kind of ehhhh.) I would say Minglan and Yanxi are both successful because they ride the fence. 

On the other hand, serious historical drama has A LOT of politics and can be quite dry especially if you’re watching it through half-assed subtitles. The actors typically are more seasoned, older. People jokingly say that idol drama is what mom watches and serious drama is what dad watches, and honestly given my parents’ tv habits...it’s pretty accurate 😂.

Some really well known ones from the past 20 years are: 

The 《铁齿铜牙纪晓岚》 series 1-4. I would only recommend part 1-2, 3-4 are not as great. This one has quite a bit of humour but it might fly over your head a bit because of the language barrier. The story surrounds a well known government official and scholar named Ji Xiaolan  纪晓岚, his frenemy and colleague the (EXTREMELY corrupt) prime minister He Shen, and the Emperor Qianlong. For better or worse these three are depicted as both liege and subjects as well as friends. Trying to see Ji Xiaolan and He Shen one up each other while Qianlong tries to balance his court and rule the country is quite interesting. I won’t pretend this is an easy series to follow, but it’s actually quite fun. 

《汉武大帝》 - is about Hanwu Emperor of the Han Dynasty circa 150 BC? He’s one of the most famous emperors of distant history. It’s basically about the course of his life and the many people that featured in it. 

《大明王朝 》- my memories of this one is very vague, but it is about the Ming Dynasty (the dynasty before the Qing Dynasty c. 1500,1600.) 

《The Advisors Alliance 军事联盟》-  2017 two-part television series based on the life of Sima Yi, a government official and military general who lived in the late Eastern Han dynasty and Three Kingdoms period of China. circa 150 AD. 

As a side note, a lot of serious dramas for a while now have been focused on the Qing Dynasty, just because it’s the last imperial dynasty before Imperial China fell into decline, WWI and WWII ravaged the country and communism happened. Even a lot of idol drama are about the Qing Dynasty (I feel like I should do a post about this, just to string things together haha). 

So for the Qing Dynasty, because they are Manchurian, their last name is Aisin Gioro or in Chinese Aixin Jueluo 爱新觉罗. Their earlier emperors are much more well known than their later ones and have been the focus of MANY dramas. (You’ll notice their names in the beginning spell very different than the Chinese names you’re used to, but once they take over China, the emperors’ names start to become more and more mainland Chinese and less and less Manchurian.) 

Nu’er Hachi 努尔哈赤/ Nurhaci - The granddaddy of Qing Dynasty, but was never officially Emperor of China during his life time. 

Huang Taiji 皇太极 - Nurhaci’s oldest son. He led the campaign against the Ming Dynasty but died before the campaign was over 

Fulin 福林, Emperor Shunzhi 顺治 - Huang Taiji’s 9th son. He is the real first Emperor of the Qing Dynasty. His uncle Duo’Ergun 多尔衮/ Dorgon was his regent as well as his commander-in-chief. Dorgon was the one who won the war against the Ming Dynasty and instated his nephew as the Emperor. Fulin was 6 years old when this happened, and now you may wonder why the fuck is that? It’s because Fulin’s mother, Huang Taijii’s widowed concubine Consort Zhuang (name: pu’erji-jite bumubutai  (pinyin) 博爾濟吉特 布木布泰/ Bumbutai Borjigit, Da-Yu’er 大玉儿) remarried her brother-in-law Dorgon. Whether Bumbutai and Dorgon were actually in love is....contestable. Certainly one of my favourite serious dramas that depict this part of history is《大青风云》. 

Xuanye 玄燁, Emperor Kangxi 康熙 - Fulin’s third son. Very famous. Very long reign. Serious drama associated 《康熙微服私访记》， 《康熙王朝》

Yinzhen 胤禛, Emperor Yongzheng 雍正 - Xuanye's 4th son. His reign was highly contested because some ppl believed he forged the succession document. It’s probably not true. He was an efficient emperor but very austere, very severe. Not well liked. The best serious drama about him is probably 《雍正王朝》and the aforementioned《甄嬛传》. The former is 100% politics and a fictional re-telling of historical events whereas the latter is 100% harem drama and 100% made up. 《步步惊心》is an idol drama about a girl who transmigrated back to this time and fell in love with Yinzhen. Lol. 

Hongli 弘历, Emperor Qianlong 乾隆 - Yinzhen’s 4th son. I think he’s the longest living/reigning emperor of Chinese history. SOOOOO many dramas were made about him or set in his reign. Of the serious drama category:  《铁齿铜牙纪晓岚》 that I mentioned earlier is really good. There are others but I won’t name them here.  《如懿传》 is a serious drama about his harem, but really terrible? I really didn’t like it (just my personal view). Incidentally it was released around the same time as《The Story of Yanxi Palace 延禧攻略》which is also about his harem and MUCH better in my opinion, because the actor for Hongli in Yanxi is much better skills-wise. 《还珠格格》was the OG idol drama about Hongli’s children. I gave a brief synopsis about it here. It was made in the 90s but damn...so nostalgic. 

There’s many more emperors after him, but they’re not as important. 

Okay yeah, so I’m not sure if any of this is really helpful, but definitely watching serious drama gives you much better context and understanding of Chinese culture than idol drama. I mean when the drama has flying and magic...the historical relevance sort of falls to the side. 🤣

ADDENDUM: I made a typo earlier. Fulin is Huang Taiji’s 9th son, not Nurhaci’s son. Also Abahai is Huang Taijii’s mother’s name (wikipedia lied to me on this one XD).

7. What is your favorite part of being transgender?

oooh thats a hard question to answer lol

i really really really love the sense of community that comes with being trans! i also really love the freedom that being trans offers, which sounds strange at first when you think of how trans people are treated in society, but i love the freedom to be able to explain who i am with other people who understand and who will accept me with open arms! i love seeing a trans flag and knowing theres others like me, others who have faced the worst society has to offer and keep going. i love our elders, who fought, who keep fighting. i love all trans people and i love being trans because it feels like home to me!

8. How would you explain your gender identity to others?

i still dont really know haha

i could get all technical and say that im somewhere under the nonbinary umbrella, a little bit agender, a little bit greygender, somewhat male aligned, parts that i dont even know about yet, etc. but the queer and trans/nonbinary labels fit me and i love them for it! also the flags are gorgeous, which is always a plus lol

34. What advice would you give to other trans people, or what message would you like to share with them?

(okay im super bad at advice so bear with me)

the best advice i can give to other trans people is to slow down.

being trans is fucking hard, and it becomes a lot harder when you feel pressured to come out, start hormones, get surgery, etc. and i want you to know that you dont have to make decisions like that immediately. although i realised i wasnt cis a few years ago, it took until a few weeks ago to realise that i might want to start t at some point but i dont want to at this point in my life, because its a big decision to make and im nowhere near ready for it.

i feel the same way about coming out. while incredibly drunk with a sober friend i told her about my name and pronouns and i regretted it the next day, not because i dont trust her, but because i didnt feel ready. theres people in my life i dont ever plan on coming out to because i simply dont want to. and thats okay

i feel like trans people can rush into their transitions in case people call them 'trenders' or whatever when the only person who should be concerned about how and when you transition is you! you decide when or if you tell people! you decide when or if you get hrt or surgery! its your body and your life and its okay to take your time to make decisions like this! youre gonna be okay, i promise <3

38. What is your sexual and romantic orientation, and what are your thoughts on it?

if youve been on my blog in the last month or so you might remember the little... crisis... i had about this where i had trouble letting go of the lesbian label. im very happy to announce that not long after that i let it go, and it didnt feel like i was betraying a part of myself anymore, and it actually helped me figure out my gender more so wahoo!

anyway, i usually describe myself as an arospec acespec queer.

i consider myself to be demiromantic and somewhere along the asexual spectrum that i cant figure out (idek if i am on there lol! joys of discovering yourself).

i use the queer label because every other sexuality label just does not fit, like at all. im attracted to people of all genders (i think 😬) but although ive used labels like pansexual in the past, now... just doesnt fit! so dont worry if thats happened to you, even if a label fits you definition-wise, if you dont like it - dont use it! i love love love the queer label, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and thats why i use it!

(p much always they have one Main fear and the eye, plus the end is like, an underlying theme in all of them even tho ppl can’t rly die in the apocalypse, and i’m suspecting now that i’ve missed some web stuff where it was before, bcos the ‘you can’t escape’ theme has been so subtle until u look for it. so actually that is four fears, and then they always have at least a couple more so like... at least six fears then? probably? hmmmm. i may have to reanalyze some things. i also am p sure i’ve been missing extinction most of the time bcos i rarely think of it...)

anyway. my POINT. everything is VERY mixed up, and i BELIEVE i’m right. but i’m also p sure the closest tma will come to validating me was in 176 when martin says the domain’s theme doesn’t SOUND like a thing the hunt does, and jon replies: “the old divisions don’t mean as much these days. maybe they never did.” which p much SAYS that the fears aren’t as divided as before, but also we (as in, the characters) are going forward and dividing the domains up by fears, so me being Correct means absolutely nothing story-wise.

i am Further Validated in my heavily related ‘the manifestations of the fears are shaped & defined by People’s Beliefs (and thus, jonah’s ritual worked based on the 14-fear model because at this point so many people follow smirke’s theories, and were in fact attempting rituals based on his writing; and also the domains are ‘claimed’ by a particular entity/avatar bcos of this Belief) by jon going on to say ‘they don’t just feed on the worst fears of the people trapped there; they’re shaped by them, too. it’s enough to fear the domain itself, if not the entire power behind it.’ once again, this isn’t important to PLOT, but it is a facet of worldbuilding that i care DEEPLY about, even if it’s not. u kno. gonna get any use at all.

1) Hiya! Honestly I think it would be best to get comfortable with more realistic proportions before you branch out into cartoon/anime style! I did it the other way round and I regret it a lot, bc I think it made my foundations really shaky and inconsistent. THAT’S NOT TO SAY u have to master the traditional art style before u start drawing any cartoons though!! I think it’s fine to do them together, just don’t neglect traditional anatomy and all that, bc it will help you a lot in the future regardless of the style you eventually choose to stick to!

THe coloured outline of shadows that alot of artists do is an exaggeration of how it looks in rl but it is pretty neat bc it makes the object look like it’s glowing haha

1) I like using poses from magazines to study anatomy!! I either follow blogs that post magazine scans or I buy them myself when i can! Another thing I’ve found rly helpful was using fitness books/ videos as references… like those for muscle-building/ weight lifters, where there are diagrams of which muscles are working for a specific exercise. YOUTUBE has a lot of fitness videos, just type xxx workout, pause the video at any random frame, and u should be able to get a nice reference to study muscles with!! If u want references for the muscles themselves, some good books I’ve found helpful are: Strength training Anatomy and Anatomy for sculptors (I can give them to you off anon if you’d like)!

December 2017. It was an accident, I swear. I used to be really into Overwatch (before uni took over my gaming life (I dont play anymore)) and I came across this post. At first I thought it was like Dr. Who or something, I didn't know. So I reverse image searched it on Google, and found Supernatural. I found out it was on Netflix, and watched the pilot. I was scared, but didn't think it was anything special. But then Jess burned. And then at Sam's "we have work to do" line, I was sold.

(And then I sat through 7 seasons trying to spot the scene that was in the gif that started it all.)

Castiel, easily. That isn't to say I dont like Sam and Dean though. I love all of them. All of them. I just have a preference for Cas

Sam: I was genuinely worried about him not making it back to his interview on time. I just wanted him to be alright.

Cas: "Holy shit that's Castiel. Oh my god that's his voice?" (I thought he would lose the voice and the trench coat over time. He did neither.)

Jack: I just wanted him to be good so bad. I was so relieved when he turned out to be an actual bean.

Season 12, probably. I didn't like the whole BMOL thing, but 12 has a ton of my favorite episodes (Stuck in the Middle (With You), Lily Sunder has Some Regrets, Baby, All Along the Watchtower)

Season 7. There's just... not a lot there? Leviathan weren't as big of a threat as I thought, and there was a substantial lack of Cas.

11. Opinions on Destiel?

Oh god, it's taken over my life. I love it, I really do, because you know what? It's so goddamn sweet, and soft, and romantic, but at the same time it's tough, it's gritty, and it's just two guys trying their best under almost impossible circumstances. And at the end of the day, when the world is safe, they deserve each other. They've earned some semblance of peace, which they can find in each other. No one understands Castiel like Dean does and vice versa. They're a match made in hell and they're perfect for one another. I just want them to be happy

12. Do you believe Supernatural queerbaits?

Well, to some extent yes, but not on purpose.

13. Seasons 1-7 or 8-14?

8-14. Maybe it's because there's more Cas, or maybe it's the character development. Maybe it's just personal preference.

14. Favorite villain (plot wise)?

Lucifer from s4-5. In case any of you didn't know, I used to adore Lucifer when I first watched the show. He was my favorite character when I was watching seasons 4-5, (like almost toppled Cas for 1st place favorite). I really liked Lucifer. When they brought him back officially in season 11 I was ecstatic. Then they kept him in 12, but his personality wasn't the same. Then 13. It just really ruined the character for me, and I wish they just let him get his closure in 11 before ending his storyline completely. But no. They just. Kept. Bringing. Him. Back. And now he's like a whole different character entirely. I hate it. I miss old Lucifer :( Sorry for the rant

15. Do you think they should end the Lucifer plot line?

Lucifer is dead, so technically it's already over. But I would be really upset if they brought him back if that answers that question.

It's a tie between Stuck in the Middle (With You) (12x12) and Lazarus Rising (4x01)

Yes. It reminds me of Old Supernatural, and it's just nice to see the boys helping people no matter what. End of the world be damned that lady has a poltergeist and hell, if they aren't gonna help her who will?

Dean. I dont know if it's the music, the cars, billiards, humor, cowboy obsession, or being a closeted bisexual, but we've got a lot in common.

It's such a unique show. When I first joined the fandom, and I saw the tag SPN family, I was like haha sure. But once I got involved, holy hell. Absolutely no fandom is like the Supernatural fandom. Yes we may have our differences in opinions, ships, characters, but everyone here loves this show. And I love everyone here. It really does feel like a family. This is kind of the same reason I adore the show. The theme of found family, and the way that Team Free Will will always find a better way because that's what they do. If someone wanted to start writing Rhack, where would you suggest starting? Or rather, what kind of content would you suggest starting with? Sorry for the odd question, been reading Rhack for years but writing it intimidates tf out of me...

Oh goodness my sweetie i’m so flattered you’re asking me, but truth be told, regardless of what it might look like, i am hardly an authority on it xD

The way I started writing rhack? Never played any games (i only just started playing bl2 last june… and only recently completed a first playthrough… and i have zero interest in playing tales or much else ahahah) but i read a lot of the fic out there at the time once rhack art starting hitting my dash and got me interested in them. I mean, who doesn’t see shiny new dolls in the toybox and wanna play with ‘em? Right?

So like, reading a variety of fic set me up to kind of understand the setting (based on what other writers included– i still had never played games at this point/seen any playthroughs at all) so you’re already ahead of the game here. But i wasn’t finding fic of the exact topics/genres that I wanted to read, so i just…. wrote what i couldn’t find/what i specifically wanted to read. 

And that’s how Bad Habits came about, and i’ve picked up speed since that first fic haha :3 i wanted some damn hurt/comfort REAL hard but there wasn’t really anything… Hell, at that time everything was still very rhys/holo!jack… which was kinky fab fun but still not exactly filling what i personally wanted to read. So like corporeal jack/rhys wasn’t really a big thing at the time, soooo i wrote it :3

Basically, write what it is you wanna see :D

Take cues from other writers (without plagiarizing… i have been plagiarized in this fandom it aint cool lol) and just have fun with it. That’s how i literally learned xD

If you’re worried about characterization, go listen to their voiceline compilations on youtube to understand speech patterns of how they talk (also how i learned about the characters aside from reading dialogue from other writers).

If you’re worried about antis, just make liberal use of the block button, and you can also lock fics on ao3 to only registered users, which creates accountability. People are less likely to be total dickheads when they’re not anonymous. (Mortgages are scarier than antis, a wise wise writer once said …someone link me the post i know ive reblogged it haha).

Get a beta-reader if you’re not confident in your language abilities (lose vs loose, their/they’re/there, we’re/were, know/now). Lack of paragraph breaks (block text) can be a huge turn-off regardless of content (basically, don’t make any of the mistakes that personally annoy you yourself when you’re reading :D)

On that note, be a little picky about who your beta is. Some people will volunteer for it out of a need to feel important/assert control vs. an actual need to assist. There is a difference, and it can be damaging to your will to write. Get someone you know and trust not to do you dirty (if using a beta. I don’t but… i know things :X).

Play fast and loose with canon all you want. These are digital representations of dolls we’re gonna play house with. They’re not real. None of this shit is. Don’t feel constrained by things. You can switch it up all the fuck you want :)

Write what you know or learn about what you want to write about :3 If you’re not into smut, don’t write it unless you want to. There is an audience for everything. You just need an idea. Also asking on your blog for fic prompts or ideas (and also searching the tags for prompts) can be a great source of inspiration. Whatever you were wishing would happen in a  certain fic, well, go write it yourself!

I mean, this is all pretty generic advice even just about starting to write fic in general, so like starting to write rhack? I mean, just do the thing friend.

Block antis, just delete any hate mail (acknowledgement is what they want because they’re sad pathetic fucks) and just dont engage with them, don’t internalize, just DELETE/BLOCK :) I personally haven’t had a problem with antis and i write some weird shit, and fuck im more worried about my next paycheck than what some purity-culture teen has to say about how i play with the community dolls.

So don’t worry, have fun, and if you ARE concerned about certain folks, just start a sideblog for your fic and try not to associate the two accounts (this seems to be the main problem a lot of folks have when beginning to write… vs. the writing itself hahah remove yourself from that position in the first place and youll be grand. And you can always promote your work on your main blog without being like THIS IS MINE. Thats also how this blog got started AHAHAH now i just dgaf) :)

Just… start writing, anon. Write down a particular moment you have stuck in your head that you’ve really been wanting to read. Just that scene right out of your head, no intro or any shit. Just put the scene onto paper and eventually you’ll flesh it into story. :)

-       Chance is one of the factor, but what our choices be, what we do is the reason why things happen.

-       Everybody cares about what others think of them, its normal. But for me, maybe 8/10 I have this mindset of being comfortable on yourself is much ok rather than impressing everyone.

I just read all of Santis story. Dear god, it is amazing. I cannot begin to describe how much I love it. Hi there! i totally understand your situation- in fact ive been in a similar one. i liked this guy for about 3 years and my friend also did! but i met her after i had met him. i ended up telling her i liked him but that was only after i lost my feelings for him (i had family friends who where the only people i told about this crush) so its understandable you’d want to be able to speak about your feelings anonymously online! 

honestly just go for it! muster up the courage and say hi! even if you mess up slightly because you’re nervous, if hes a good guy im sure he’ll find it endearing. i remember when i first spoke to my crush my words were muddled up- he simply laughed at me in a friendly way and told me i was funny and continued the conversation! if the guy replies to you in a rude way then he clearly doesn’t deserve your attention. there are many ways to get him to stop viewing you as a friend but you have to be bold! everytime you see him start a convo! message him about homework if you have the same classes maybe? be suggestive with your actions and words but not too much so you dont come across as too easy. a balance of teasing him and giving him advice or compassion about schoolwork/hobbies can help a guy to realise that you know how to be both fun and kind.

 guys think differently to girls-i feel as though they read into things less so dont worry too much! but also try not to be too nervous because they may end up thinking you’re the one who has no interest in them :p the main thing is to be yourself and be genuine. and if in the end nothing works- thats okay! you’re only 16 which is very young… you’re going to meet so many people in your life. im always telling my friends-”wait till university” or maybe even after that (19 and above) most guys have matured by then and look for the right qualities in girls and not just someone who’s pretty or good company. 

when you look back at this crush you might realise that it was such a small part of your life and not worth worrying over! there are plenty of fish in the sea :) and if he ends up just being your friend then at least you have gained a kind friend! i hope it all works out for you and that you use your time wisely because youth is the best thing (i sound like a granny and im barely 18 haha) best of luck!
