He's going to go full AWOOGA AWOOGA on you, tongue unrolling out of his mouth and eyes popping out of his head, heart pushing out of his chest and everything.

“We should get married.” 

The question in and of itself is a strange one, made more so for the fact that it’s coming from Zoro of all people – and the fact that he’s asking you in the middle of a fight. Your back is pressed against his, the heat of his skin seeping into your clothes – and you wonder if he’s gotten hit in the head too many times. Or thrown through too many things – too much of something. 

“Are you seriously saying that right now?” Your tone is incredulous as you swing your weapon, scowling as you watch another enemy drop with a cry and a splatter of blood. “We’re a little busy right now, aren’t we?”

Zoro grins, expression manic with the deepened shadows of his face from his bandana, adjusting to place the hilt of Wadou Ichimonji in his mouth. “Is that a yes?”

You have the brief moment of considering knocking Zoro out for your opponent – clearly his daily naps out in the sun have baked his brain more than you previously thought. “No!”

The question doesn’t turn out to be borne from a brain-based injury flaring up, because Zoro doesn’t let the subject go. He bides his time, waiting about two weeks from when he first asked before he tries again.

This time, the stars are a witness to his buffoonery – now fueled by the bottles of sake he seems to have squirreled away everywhere on the Thousand Sunny. You watch as he tips the bottle to his lips, the brief shimmer of liquid that beads at his lips before it disappears as he swallows. 

“We should get married,” he says, and this time, you scoff. It isn’t one of disdain, rather of amusement as you wait for the alcohol induced flush to rise to his cheeks. “‘m serious, you know.”

“No,” you counter softly as you scoot closer to him, reaching up to wipe a drop of sake from the corner of his lips and bring it to your own for a taste. As ever, his own choices in alcohol seem to be tailored for him and him alone – sake still isn’t your thing. “You’re drunk.”

Zoro hums, eye flicking from the night sky above to you. “Is that a yes?”

You press your lips to his warm cheek. “Ask me again when you’re sober.”

The third time that he asks, he’s waited so long that you’ve almost forgotten that he ever asked in the first place. After all, Roronoa Zoro has never seemed like someone interested in the intimate entanglement of marriage – you have absolutely no clue what has possessed him to suddenly ask you with this kind of tenacity. 

“We should get married,” he says, and you resist the urge to sigh as you stare at him, his head pillowed against your thigh. Below the shade of Nami’s tangerine trees, you can hear Luffy’s bright laughter intermingled with Usopp and Franky’s. 

This time you aren’t in the middle of a fight, nor is he drunk. This time, you take a moment to study his face, the dapple of sunlight through waxy green leaves, the scent of citrus in the air. You love him, you’re sure of that – as sure as you’ve been of anything in your life. 

“We’re pirates,” you answer, tapping your fingers against his cheek in an echoed rhythm of one of Brooke’s songs from the night before. “Pirates don’t get married.”

“Sure they do.” He’s watching you now, with the kind of intensity he usually only reserves for battle, and you look away. “Captains can officiate marriages. I asked Robin about it.”

You blink and let your attention shift to Luffy for a minute – you love your captain, you do. But the idea of him being serious about much of anything beyond what matters to him (food, his crew’s safety, finding the One Piece – in that order) makes you giggle. You can’t imagine him officiating something like a marriage. 

“What if I want a ceremony?” Your fingers find his cropped green hair, stroking gently across his scalp. “Those are expensive.”

He shrugs. “We’d find a way. I’m sure Nami would help.”

Your lips curve in an amused smile for a moment before it dims at the edges. “It’d be dangerous,” you point out, and he answers with a short bark of laughter.

“Not any more than shit we’ve already faced.”

“Rings?”

“We don’t need that fancy stuff.” 

Your smile fades completely, hand stilling in his hair. “Why do you think we should get married?”

There must be an edge to your tone now, because Zoro refocuses on you, all signs of mirth gone. “Because we love each other, right? Sounds like the next logical step.” 

Your gaze hardens. “So you’re asking because you think we should? Or because you want to marry me?” He sits up, and you get to your feet. 

“Is that a no?” he asks, and you pause.

“Ask me again when you figure things out, Zoro.”

“Marry me.” 

This time, his voice is quiet. Soft and vulnerable – for the late hour or the intimacy of his bare skin against yours, you aren’t sure. His hand drifts up and down your back, counting the bumps of your spine over and over. 

You shift against him, face nestled to rest against his chest. “Zoro–” 

“I’ve thought about it,” he cuts you off. “So just be quiet and listen, okay?” You don’t say a word, waiting for him to continue on his own. “I don’t want to marry you just because I think that I should, I want us to get married because you...you mean a lot to me. You’re important to me, and I –” He pauses, struggling. This kind of thing is not Zoro’s forte, you both know that – but after a moment, he resumes. “I don’t see myself being like this with anyone but you. I don’t want to be like this with anyone but you. Just want you.” A moment of silence, hearts beating in tandem. 

You move, adjusting enough that you can look at him properly, the gleam of moonlight against his face. And you kiss him. Slow and sweet, eyes sliding shut as you linger for as long as you can before you pull away. 

“Marry me,” he repeats. 

This time, you don’t squawk at him like he’s crazy. You don’t accuse him of being drunk, don’t deflect him for fear that he’s doing it because he thinks he should, not that he wants to. This time, you smile.

“Yes,” you answer. “I’ll marry you.”

After coating the entire Moby Dick with the underwater coating its surfaces in a surprise attack in the Marine Ford bay along with three other ships belonging to Whitebeard. Standing beside Marco you both watch as Whitebeard uses his Tremor-Tremor fruit to summon a tsunami.

"Pops!!" You hear Ace yell from the stage.

"I told you to go, Ace was only following my orders isnt that right Marco" Pops says.

"Yep I heard it myself then you left. Sorry to give you so much trouble. Teach broke the rules on our ship, you were only seeking justice. Everyone in the world knows what happens when they mess with one of our crewmates. If they do then their gonna pay the price Yoi" First commander Marco says. As Aikeigi freezes the tsunami, a lot of the commanders jumped onto the frozen iced over water running to fight the marines. Suddenly Kizuru teleported to in front of Pops.

"Yazikani sacred jewels!" Kizuru yells. As his attack gets closer to Pops as you feel Marco transform into his hybrid form and fly to block the attack.

"Huh well fancy that" Kizuru says.

"Its Marco the Phoenix!" A grunt yells.

"The kings off limits if you wanna reach him you gotta go through me first Yoi!" Marco says as he transforms into full Phoenix and flys into Kizurus bolts of light and kicks Kizuru in his arm.

"Well now thats quiet the painful kick" Kizuru says.

"Now your lieing Yoi!" Marco yells as he kicks Kizuru into a wall hundreds of feet away. Kizuru teleported back to the ground and said

"My bad I really should have know better if your boss was that easy to kill he wouldnt be here right now" Kizuru says.

"Gaint squad keep an eye on the sky from now on" Kizuru says. As you see the line up of gaints.

"Make a path!" Jozu yells as he punches the ice which breaks in a circle he picks it up and chucks it at the vice Admiral on stage.

"Damn those two cocky hot heads abandoning their posts like that" Akainu says.

"Great eruption!" He yells as he evaporated the gaint ball of ice. He started shoots balls of magma into the lower section on the ice. One goes hurling towards Pops as Pops used his glaive to stop the magma ball onto the tip of his glave.

"This ill have you light the candles on my next birthday you magma punk" Pops says.

"Ha id rather provide the lighting for your funeral how about it old man?" Akainu says. You stand to the side of Pops and say

"Heavenly Prayer!" As a ball of light encompasses you and Whitebeard granting healing, attack, defense, and ups devil fruit abilities as you put your hands together praying eyes open you transform into your hybrid form just in case. Orz Jr. came from the sea reaking havic on the other gaints. As marines and pirates fight theres only more blood shed. Orz Jr. Talks with pops about saving Ace. Suddenly the pirate empress goes into attacking the marines and pirates. Then as Orz Jr. is walking up to ace. Kumas building up an attack

"Prepare yourself for the Erzas Shock" and it released into Orz Jr. knocking him down. After he gets back up he continues to walk towards Ace Doflamingo cuts off Orz Jr.s leg. Then Moria uses

"Shadow Spike!" Drilling into Orz Jr.s throat sloshing out blood.

"Orz Jr. No!!!!" Ace yells out as Orz falls to the ground defeated just out of reach of Ace.

"Shouldnt drop your gaurd Whitebeard!" A gaint attacks Pops. Pops used his ability to crush the opponents weapon and then his helmet and head as the opponent falls off the Moby Dick you look while still praying.

"Go over the bridge Orz made!" Pops yells as all the pirates run through fighting.

"Of course hes got a plan up his sleeve" you hear Pops say. Suddenly Luffy, Jimbe, and others fall from the sky as Luffy yells

"Im here Ace!!!" Aces eyes open wide as he sees his brother.

"Go fly my child" Pops says to you as you stop praying and join the fight in the sky shooting laser beams from your beak at marines. You glance at Macro who noticed you leave Pops but he continues fighting.

"Heavenly Rail Gun!" You call it into existence it over your shoulder like a rocket launcher and start shooting railing away gaint chunks of the marine base.

"Whose detroying the island?!"

"Look up its that woman!"

"Who is that?!"

"Its (n) the Angel shes wanted for 700,000 berries in just two years!"

Akainu yells

"Stop that gold bird!" With bullets and cannon balls flying your way you skillfully avoid them all and use your light to make a sheild for yourself. Meanwhile Crocodile flies over to Whitebeard attacking him but Luffy stops him.

"Hey squirt that strawhat your wearing it looks like the one red haired Shanks wore" Pops says

"Your right it was his hat he left it to me" Luffy says

"You came here to save your big brother?" Pops asks

"Thats right" Luffy says

"A squirt like you is gonna get slaughtered easy do you know what were up against?" Pops says

"Shutup you dont even know me!" Luffy yells.

"Ah so it runs in the family Yoi" you hear Marco say.

"I know what your up to you want to be the king!" Luffy yells as Whitebeard swirls his glave then pounds the tip on the ship.

"You cheeky little punk, dont come crying to me if you get a few boo boos" Pops says.

"Ya right im not old like you!" Luffy retorts.

"Old man I heard on the marine ship-" Luffy explains

"So their moving up the execution"

"Just thought you should know since your friends with Ace" Luffy says.

"Allright thanks kiddo"

"No problem" Luffy says as he runs off with many pirates following his lead. You see Marco fly down and says to Pops

"Hey Pops in case you didnt know word on the street is their expediting Aces execution Yoi"

"Strawhat told me. How are Squire and the others?" Pops asks.

"Their tangled up pretty close with the vice admirals at the bay. I was just about to fly over there and lend them a helping hand Yoi" Marco says to Pops

"No wait not yet something tells me Sengoku wanted that information to get leaked so we would advance. That old bastard is too clever to let his strategy get out" Pops says.

"Huh Yoi" Marco pauses.

Suddenly you hear a commotion about Luffy and Akinu. Looking over to Luffy he dodged Akinu then Hina as he pummels marines. Then you hear.

"Stay away Luffy!! You only wanted to be a pirate and go out to sea because I wanted too!! Your such a wimp what makes you think I want you to save me huh? Go home Luffy!!" Ace yells to Luffy.

"Ace Yoi" You hear Marco say loudly.

"Say all the mean stuff you want im still going to save you!!" Luffy yells to Ace.

"Hey Marco dont let that kid die no matter what" Pops says to Marco.

"You got it yoi" Marco says back. Akinu used his light beams to penetrate your sheild luckily your like Marco and regenerated.

"Ill have to make a note of that" Akinu says as you lock on to him powering your Rail Gun with Haki you shoot lasering his right wrist off. He grunts in pain as you redirect your attention to Pops and Marco. You fly back to them to rest on the head of the Moby Dick. Using a snail Pops says

"Come in this is Whitebeard put Sqhire on the line now."

"Oh pops he was right here a few minutes ago but the thing is I cant see him anywhere"

"Ya go figure all that tough talk then hes not even around when you ask for his help Yoi" Marco says as you all face the battle field.

"Hm well so it goes get me the Decalven brothers then" Pops says.

"Hey Pops whatsup? Yea Pops whatsup?" They say

"I want you to follow my lead take command of all pirate devisions around you"

"You got it and whats the command?" They ask.

"Just focus on sinking all the Navy's ships just trust me on this one. Ive got a bad feeling about those ships" Pops says

"Well you can count on us Pops. Thats right!" They say. Soon the word spreads as the different devisions attack the Navy ships. You say

"Heavenly Rail Gun!" And lock on to a Navy ship

"Boom" you say as you pull the trigger blowing up an entire ship. Huffing as you fall to your knee and drop your Rail Gun out of existence sparkling away.

"You need to save your strength my little bird Yoi" Marco calls to you as you just nod feeling hot headed. You put a hand to your head and slide the sweat away.

"Are you all right Yoi?" Your Phoenix asks you.

"Dont worry about me Marco ill be okay" you reassure him as your transform back into human form. He nods not convinced and redirects his attention to the battle. Suddenly your hit with a light ray with Haki in the stomach coughing up blood. Marcos to your side in a flash with his healing flames you try to regenerate but its slow. Huffing hard Pops glances at you.

"Are you going to be all right child?" Pops askes as your wound closes up.

You just give him a thumbs up. Marco turns back into human form and notices now that luffy is having a hard time with Mihawk.

"Vista Pops said to make sure Aces brother doesnt get killed go back him up Yoi" Marco yells.

"Got it!" Vista yells back. Marco jumps down onto the ice and observes everything once your healed. He looks up at you and Whitebeard and says

"Pops.. Yoi" suddenly you hear a lot of laserbeams behind you and Pops attacking the pirate ships.

"Sick bastards are willing to sacrifice their own men... Dont loose faith march on charge the enemies with all your might!" You hear Pops yell.

"The only retreat I know is death but ill rescue Ace before they can send me down that road" you hear Marco say.

You redirect your attention to Luffy as Vice Admiral of light kicks Luffy way back. You call on your Rail Gun and transform into hybrid form, fly above the many Kumas that appeared behind the pirates and lock on squeezing the trigger you managed to take out four of them before they looked up and locked on too you. You dodge every beam except one goes through your wing.

'Dammit they can use Haki?!' You think as you fall then transform again into Angel Bird form keeping them busy while you fly around. Your close to the Moby Dick and hear a

"Hey Pops"

"Oh Squire good to see your alive" Pops says as the Kumas redirect their attention back to the pirates you transform into hybrid form calling

"Heavenly Rain Light Arrows!" As hundreds of light arrows fall from the sky over the Marines.

"Yea barely" Squire says

"Is that so I was trying to reach you earlier. How are things looking at the bayhead now?" Pops says.

"Im sorry to say but your allies were beaten pretty badly. As for me I only managed to get out through shear luck" Squire says.

"Sengoku is one merciless bastard hes pulling out every dirty trick he can think of" Pops says.

"Judging by your shift in tactic im guessing you picked up on the Navys plan?" Squire asks.

"Little does he know it works in our favor to attack from the rear. Im joining the fight. Our only chance is to keep pushing forward" Pops says

"I couldnt agree more" Squire says. You and Marco notice Squire standing next to Pops.

"Whats Squire doing up there Yoi?" Macro asks himself but your close enough to hear them all flying in the air observing everything.

"You have forty-three allied Captains willing to die for you. We are all in your debt for now and always. We consider it a privilege to risk our lives for you and your crew" Squire says.

"And im greatful but this is-"

"Yes I know this fight is to save a member of your family. The great pirate Whitebeard is a man who would do anything for his family. And your loyalty inspires loyalty. Thats why everyone followed you to this hell." Squire states as Whitebeard steps forward about to join the fight.

"I do wish things were different but at the end of the day... im not apart of your family." Squire says as he unsheathed his sword then slices Whitebeard through his core out through the other side. Everyone looks in disbelief at Whitebeard.

"Pops no!!" You scream and fly over jumping into human form. Marco looses his cool and jumps on Squire

"How dare you Squire!!! Why the hell did you attack Pops huh?!! Answer me now or ill kill you!! Yoi" Marco yells while pinning him down on the head of the Moby Dick.

"Yea well this whole mess is his fault anyway!" Squire yells back.

"What do you mean? Do you even realize what youve just done?! Yoi" Marco yells. Pops kneels on one knee as Marco gets up and goes over to Pops and says

"Dont move Pops youll make things worse if you keep squirming Yoi" Marco yells.

"Heavenly Grace!" You yell as tears stung your eyes you put your hands up to Whitebeards wound and start healing as much as you can.

"Im telling you this battle is a fake! You made a deal with the government to have assurance that none of your crewmates gets scratched. Theyll just go after your allies!" Squire yells.

Squire goes on and on about how Pops kept it a secret that Ace was Rogers son and how Squires whole crew was wiped out by Roger.

"It was a miracle that I was able to stab you. I didnt want to believe it, were all sons to you. But I guess some kids are just worth more than others-" Squire says but is cut off by Pops

"Your a dam fool the Navy is deceiving you Squire why trust them instead of Pops?! Yoi" Marco yells as he grabs Squires shirt.

"I know your in the deal dont play dumb with me! Your the First devision commander your basically Whitebeards right hand man! If anyone knows about his deal with the Navy its you!" Squire yells in Marcos face.

"Its not Aces fault what happened to Squire but it is mine. And I can only blame myself for keeping it a secret for all these years. The Navy made the right move" Pops says. You can feel Marcos eyes on you he seems to be thinking as you glanced back then back to healing. Pops gently makes you move aside.

"But Pops im not done healing you im barely one third of the wa-" you were cut off by Pops saying

"I dont know if you realize the magnitude of what youve just done Squire. You thrust a sword into your fathers body trying to kill him. Youve lost your way my poor stupid son!" Pops raises his hand then embraces Squire in a hug.

"But I still love you even if you are a dam fool" Pops says.

"Cut the crap you sold us out all of us" Squire responds.

"Who took your steadfast heart away from your father and delivered it into the hands of our enemies? Now you tell me his name" Whitebeard says to Squire.

"Aikainu.. he said if I killed you he would save all your new world allies" Squire says.

"I understand your pain. But its ridiculous to blame a child for the sins of his father. Did Ace ever do a thing to hurt you? I never gave a dam who Aces father was and I still dont. And where ever the hell we came from doesnt mean a thing anymore. I dont love Ace anymore than any son of mine. On that you have my word. Every single one of you is part of my family!" Pops explains as he lets go of an emotional Squire and walks forward as you just sit next to them. Pops uses his Tremor-Tremor fruit in both fists and crushes the gaint ice walls that were built up. Pops stands after breaking up the ice so the path to leave isnt blocked anymore.

"If your a true pirate then you choose which path to take on your own." Pops yells as Squire starts crying.

"Those of you who will still follow me put your lives on the line!" Whitebeard yells as pirates cheer. Pops runs off the Moby Dick and lands on the ice pointing his glaive at Sengoku making pirates run towards Sengoku. Pops uses his Tremor-Tremor fruit to blow back cannonballs and they explode on the Marines.

"Dam I bought that story fish line and sinker" Squire says as you look to Marco whose standing close to you. Marco just looks at Squire with a frown. Squire crying says

"What have I done? Im so sorry Pops please forgive me Ace!" Squire yells.

"Hey Squire pull it together tears wont fix what youve done Yoi" Hearing Marco say to Squire you stand. Looking for Luffy. Pops uses his Tremor-Tremor fruit to tilt the land and seas splattering the Navy ships into splinters. As you and marco flew up waiting for the tremor to be over. Pops engages in battle useing his fruit sending a shockwave into the scaffolding but the three Navy Admirals blocked Pops attack. Suddenly the Marine Ford inner walls came up blocking most of the pirates attack.

"Now thats a noble death" Squire says kneeling on the head of the Moby Dick talking about Orz with you and Marco.

"He may be dead but hes still fighting impressive huh? Yoi" you hear Marco say. Akainu shot up magma meteors into the sky. You all wait for a minute as they come flying down attacking the pirates and the ice trying to drownd them. Once the meteors fell down they broke the ice and started melting everything making the sea boil.

"Hurry get on the ice!" You hear a pirate grunt yell. Then the walls shot cannonballs at the pirates and when they retreated all of the Kumas started firing their lasers. Pops used his fruit ability to punch the wall but it stayed standing.

"How is it still standing after Pops?!" A pirate yelled. You hear Pops give a small growl as the meteors destroy pirate ships. Suddenly some meteors crashed into the Moby Dick.

"Hurry put out the fires!"

"It just wont be the same sailing with Ace without the Moby Dick!" Another pirate yelled as they splashed water everywhere. You fly off in hybrid form use your light like a bucket thats huge then splash the Moby Dick putting out some of the fire while your doing that Akainu says

"Whitebeard watch your legacy go up in flames" you cant put out the fire so you just stay put by Pops transforming back into human form. Pops turns to the Moby Dick and says

"Im sorry .. old friend" suddenly you hear

"Phase two execute Portgas D. Ace" from Sengoku. Causing Luffy to run wild on top of Orzs dead body but two surprise cannon balls hits Luffy sending him flying into the water. You hear Ace cry out

"Luffy!!!!!" As soon as someone dives in to save Luffy. Little Orz braces himself on his elbows

"Im here Ace ill save you!"

"Little Orz no!!!!" Ace screams seeing all the bloodshed.

"And fire at the gaint!" Sengoku commands as the marines fire away causing Orz to fall again.

"I gotta do something. Jimbe I need a favor from you" Luffy huffs on the ice. Kizaru points a finger at Orz saying its one hundred percent effective to do it his way. Then you hear Jimbe yell

"Ocean Current Over Flow!" Then Luffy pops out in front of the three admirals.

"I see so you found a way up" Aokiji says.

"Youve done well son of Dragon" Akainu says. Your hear Pops say

"Well done brat"

"Its a fluke youve gotten this far and your too green to get any farther" Aokiji says to Luffy.

"He and his brother are two of a kind they just dive right in without even thinking" Whitebeard says next to you.

"Orz stay put I need your help one more time!" Pops yells.

"Sure Pops" Orz says.

"Jozu the trump card!"

"Yes sir!" Jozu yells.

"We need to move everyone were charging straight into the plaza!!" Pops yells as you follow behind.

"Jet gatling!" You hear Luffy in the distance. After that you all hear Sengoku yell

"Go do it!" As the executioners raise their swords

"Ace no!" Pops yells.

"You monsters!" Jimbe yells.

"No stop!!" Marco yells. In slow motion everyone is watching. Suddenly the executioners were blown away at the last second. Sengoku looks around yelling

"Who did that?!" Then a figure shows up on the battle field. Sengoku gives Crocodile an earful. You fly up to where Marco landed on top of the wall.

"Whats goin on I didnt have a chance to show off Yoi" Marco says.

"Just a short while ago Crocodile was trying to murder Whitebeard, wonder what transpired to make him change his mind" you hear Jimbe say.

"I can kill that old dying buzzard whenever I feel like it but as of right now im not gonna let you tatse victory you and your crooked operation" Crocodile says.

Doflamingo and Crocodile exchange words. Then while everyone's distracted Luffy runs to Ace kicking and punching Marines left and right. Hes stabbed in the shoulder by Aokiji with an ice spear.

"You feind I wont let you hurt my darling!" Snake Princess yells but Marco beat her to it. Marco swipe kicks Aokijis side knocking him into rubble.

"Ah crap! Whitebeards first division commander Marco!" A marine yells.

"Thanks buddy you saved me" Luffy says.

"Ah dont mention it pal Yoi" Marco responds. You fly up above Marco staying put just in case. When you hear a commotion of pirates from the Moby Dick thats sinking swimming across the bay to Orz. The marines use cannons to fire into the water killing more Whitebeard pirates but they keep going. Suddenly a coated pirate ship came up from the depths and saved the pirates who were swimming. The battle boat was too fast for the Navy. As it reached the plaza Orz picked it up and put it into the plaza. With a shimer of hope all the pirates cheer.

"Thats enoughh!!!!" Ace yells on deaf ears. As Orz was speaking the Marines shot him with cannonballs.

"Orz noo!!" A pirate called out. Whitebeard walks forward onto the tip of the boat then jumps off.

"Its Whitebeard hes entered the plaza!" A marine yells.

"My sons stay back" Pops says as you fly behind Pops with Marco. Pops uses his Tremor-Tremor fruit on his glave blade then throws it forward cracking everything. Marines go flying away as the Vice Admirals stay put. Then Whitebeards commanders jump down next to him. As you go with Marco and you both transform into human form he says to Orz

"Orz thanks pal Yoi" as you both turn your attention to Pops.

"Clear a path for me and hurry up!" Pops yells.

"Sure you wanna do that Aokiji says as he turns some of his body into ice. Pops uses his fruit on his glave but then Aokiji uses

"Ice Wall!" And encompasses Pops in ice.

"Whitebeards a popsicle we got him!" Some marines cheer. But as soon as they do Pops breaks out and Aokiji jumps forward getting stabbed by Pops glaive. Aokiji freezes his glaive then makes four spears to throw at Pops at face range but Jozu tackles them all.

"Go ill fight" Juzo says to Pops.

"Im counting on you son" Pops says. You watch the battle with Marco. Luffy keeps running then runs into a Vice Admiral with a sword and gets cut but not bad. Suddenly theres two Vice Admirals. Luffy gets tossed around like a ragdoll. You see Kizuru shoot a beam of light at Luffy so you fly up in hybrid form, call apon your Rail Gun lock on and slice his whole right arm off as he had one finger before. Luffy lays on the ground as the Admiral yells in pain but kicks Luffy into Whitebeard who grabs Luffy. As you fly back down to Marco Ivanka and Jimbe are on top of the wall now.

"See I told you he was in trouble!" Ivanka says to Jimbe.

"I think this little fellow belongs to you" Pops says

"Old man let go of my legs im so close!" Luffy yells

"Hes done his fair share now treat him!" Pops says throwing Luffy gently onto awaiting arms of Whitebeard pirates. He squirms out of their reach though.

"Hes my only brother I have to save him!" Luffy runs off but collapses.

"Hurry treat him!" Jimbe yells at the medic. You fly over and say

"Let me help!" As your hands begin to glow. He has multiple broken bones and muscle tears but you try and heal him regardless. Akainu and pops block eachothers attacks while your trying to heal Luffy. You can feel Marcos eyes on you knowing hes watching just in case his little bird gets hurt. Suddenly Akainu and Pops go at it while the warlords go in fighting now. You look around only to see Marco running towards Ace then transforms into full Phoenix.

'Please be careful my love' you think as you move your hands to a different section to be healed. You feel something off. Looking to Marco, Garp uses Haki and punches Marco into the ground fast.

"Marco!!" You yell as you see him stand.

"Im fine little bird!" Marco yells to you which relieves some tension.

"If you want to reach the scalft youll have to go through me first!" Garp yells.

"We didnt make it all the way here just to loose to an old man, legends ant nothing but words!" Pops yells.

"I might say the same thing to you Whitebeard! Your glory days are just a dieing memory now!" Akainu says as he punches with magma. As thats going on theres fighting all around you and Kumas who are lasering your friends. Back to Luffy the medic says

"It isnt good first aid isnt going to cut it im afraid"

"I cant continue either theres just too much thats broken" you admit as your glow stops.

"Its not ideal but take Strawboy back to the ship!" Ivanka says. Luffy grabs Ivankas ankle

"I need one last favor from you"

"Dont say one last anything were getting out of here alive darnit!" Ivanka yells at Luffy.

"You realize what the reprocutions would be dont you?" Ivanka says with Luffy panting hard on the ground. Looking back at Pops you see Marco a little bit away from him. Then Akainu shot magma at Pops which Pops deflected. Whitebeard put a hand to his heart falling on his knees. As you and Marco make eye contact then look at Pops. Pops spit up blood then said

"Son of a"

"Are you okay?!" The closest devision commander's ask.

"The ravages of time humble us all even you" Akainu says pumping out lava and magma.

You hear Marco running turn to look and get your Rail Gun out transforming into hybrid form you lock on to Akainu.

"Screw the fight this is what I was afraid of Yoi" Marco says.

"Wouldn't turn my back on me if I were you!" Kizaru says to Marco as he blasts two rays of light through Marco causing him to spit up blood.

You turn your Rail Gun on Kizaru and fire cutting him using you haki with your light but he teleports.

"Marco!!! Pops!!!" You scream.

"You gonna make the same mistake?" Aokiji says as he freezes Jozus left arm and leg.

Then Akainu uses his magma to punch Pops in the guts.

"Pops no!!!" Ace cries out.

"Another hormone shot do you want to die?! Your passed your limit!" Ivanka yells at Luffy as you teleport to Marco, you start to heal his wounds. You put a lot of power behind healing as hes your mate.

"Im begging you, you have to let me fight!" You hear Luffy yell at Ivanka as you start healing Marcos second wound.

You hear Luffy get up and scream a scream as if he was healed. Then he starts running beating up marines left and right while Ivanka follows him. Suddenly the Kumas lock on to Luffy and Ivanka. But Hancock gets in the way letting them pass by while she beats up the Kumas. Marco gets up and says

"Hold on Pops im coming to save you.. Yoi" but he gets hit with Kizarus beam of light again. As you stand.

"Wow it went straight through" Kizaru says as Marco starts running with his flames appearing.

"Yea just try and stop me!" He yells.

"Ah well that certainly throws a wrinkle into my plan regeneration. So thats why they must call you the Phoenix. Hey give me a hand will you?" Kizuru says calmly. Suddenly a Vice Admiral uses black arms to pin Marco and shackle one wrist with sea prism cuffs. Two more beams are shot through Marco as he falls to the floor.

"Commander Marco noo!!" Everyone yells. At this you turn your weapon and slice the Admiral who pinned him in half.

"Marco!! Nooo!!!" You teleport to him.

"Jozu is frozen soild too!" The crew yells. As you get to Marco you say

Heavenly Chainsaw! And start cutting away at the sea prism cuff. While your doing that you hear Jimbe say

"You fools I will not be chained!"

"Now take out the head!" Sengoku yells to Whitebeard. As four Admirals charge towards Pops he takes all the blows and stabs.

"Pops!!" You and the crew yell. As pops falls backwards he grounds himself with his other foot.

"No stay back! You really think thats all it takes to defeat me?!" Pops yells. Pops uses his glaive to slash marines away into the sky. Pops leans down in pain. Sweat all over your face from fighting.

"(N) you cant cut through sea prism just go help Pops Yoi" Marco looks at you as he gets up. Since your mainly a long ranged attacker this war is doing a number on you.

"You think this will stop me? That ill lie down and give up?! Knowing that cold truth I cannot allow myself to submit not until the bitter end. So ill wait until ive taken care of the future for my sons.. got it Ace?" Whitebeard yells.

"Concerned about the future ill be happy to show you, execute him now!" Sengoku says. The whole crew yells

"Ace no!!!"

"Dont make me laugh you think I cant stop those runts from doing it?" Pops yells then falls on both knees coughing up blood.

"From the start this was the only way!" Sengoku yells. As they swing the swords about to execute Ace. Luffy yells

"Dont do it!!!" Using the conquerors spirit. Then running with Ivanka.

"Dead or alive you cannot let him escape take him out we cant afford to let him go!!" Sengoku yells as marines cheer.

Pops uses his Tremor-Tremor fruit to knock away the marines.

"Focus on Whitebeard first then go for the kid!" A Admiral yells.

"Crap come on, I cant help them as long as ive got these things on Yoi" you hear Marco say as he kicks a marine. You fly in your full form to Pops side.

"Stop everyone theres a new plan. Im either gonna live or im gonna die so help out Strawhat with everything youve got!" Pops yells.

"What the hell? Yoi" Marco says.

"Stop your gawking and take out Strawhat allready!" Kizaru says. Everyone is lending Luffy a hand running towards Ace.

"Maybe we should change up our tactic?" An Admiral asks another.

"No we must defeat Whitebeard!" Another retorts.

"One or one hundred it doesnt matter!" Pops yells as he charges he blade with Tremor then swipes in a circle blowing everyone away.

"Dam hes still standing what will it take to put him down?!" An Admiral yells.

As Luffys running Mihawk clashes with Crocodile and lets Strawhat pass. Luffy eventually makes it up the ramp to the stage but Garp stands in the way.

"Come on grandpa let me pass please?!!" Luffy yells.

"The bridge is gonna give out Strawboy!" Ivanka yells. As Garp punches Luffy hes over come with emotions letting Luffy punch him off the walkway. Luffy keeps running as you teleport next to him.

"Ive got your back Luffy im from Whitebeards crew names (n) Marcos partner" you say as you both asend.

"The bird guy oh yea thanks (n)" Luffy says to you. As the bridges gives way your in your hybrid form, you grab and swing Luffy up onto the platform where Ace is. You just fly up higher a bit and watch them. Then you hear a commotion downstairs that Pops got hit by Kizarus light finger. All you manage to make out is

"Pops noo!!" By the crew.

"Finally I told you id do it!" Luffy huffs as Ace replys

"Luffy? You really are crazy"

"Ya well" Luffy just smiles as you get out your Rail Gun surveying the area. As Luffy tries to unlock Aces cuffs Sengoku grows in size turning gold all over.

"Struggle all you like your trapped in the palm of my hand!" Sengoku yells. You lock on to him and *click*. Your beam shoves him back as you hold your position waiting for Luffy to unshackle his brother.

"Thats not something you should have Strawhat" Kizaru yells as he beams of light the key in half.

"Ive had enough Strawhat ill execute the both of you right here and now with my own two hands!" Sengoku yells as you run out of Rail Gun power you drop it out of existence it shimmers away. Suddenly mr. Three plops down from the sky as Sengoku punches down, Luffy creates a balloon while Mr. Three creates a wax wall for him and Ace. Mr. Three creates a wax key and throws it at Strawhat.

"Thanks three!" Luffy yells as he unlocks Aces shackles right when the cannonballs come flying down as the staged had collapsed. You fly down to the side of Luffy and Ace.

"Ever since you were little youve never listened to a word ive said have you? Then you run off and do something crazy. Like old times huh Luffy?" Ace says.

"Yay Ace!" You cheer as everyone looks up to the scene. Everyone cheers.

"Their alive!!"

"You did it Strawhat!" Everyone cheers.

Suddenly you hear Sengoku yell

"Dont let those three escape they all must die!"

Marco looks over and yells

"Nooo!! Yoi"

"Lets split up for now" Ace says to you, Luffy, and Mr. Three.

"Got it!" Luffy says as you hover in the sky above them.

"Flame commandment!" Ace yells as marines are flung about.

"Can you still fight Luffy?" Ace asks

"Of course I can!" He replys.

"Luffy, Ace!" Jimbe yells as Whitebeard smiles.

"Never thought id need my little brother to save me. Guess ill swallow my pride this time I owe you one Luffy" Ace explains as Luffy laughs.

"Thanks but I sure couldnt have done it if Whitebeard hadnt have shown up" Luffy says.

Marines attack Luffy but Ace jumps upside down with one hand on Luffys head causeing the marines to miss their attack through Aces flame body as he jumps of flaming the two marines.

"Thats my little brother your trying to attack. Ill have to ask you to stop! Fire fist!" Ace yells as he blows away marines.

"Fire gun!" Ace attacks while Luffy holds up the rear.

"Their a fine team dont I say" One of the commanders says

"Were pulling out make a path!" Another commander says. As Luffy and Ace attack running towards the exit they smash and light up marines one by one.

"Ive gotten to admit, you've gotten pretty strong Luffy" Ace says to Luffy. Suddenly Aokiji shows up as Ace puts an arm up to Luffy to slow him down.

"Ill take care of this" Ace says.

"Your not gonna survive to see tomorrow im afraid" Aokiji says to Ace and Luffy.

"Stand back Luffy" Ace commands and Luffy obeys. As Aokiji throws a gaint ice bird Ace counters with a gaint flame wall evaporating his ice. Soon their back on the run. Then the last boat starts running on land.

"Who is running the ship?!" A crewmate yells

"Its Squire and his crew!"

"Make a break for it Pops will guard you!" Squire yells.

"Dont be an idiot Squire you got a death wish or something?!"

"Of course, after what ive done to Pops this is the least I can do!" Squire yells back.

"Squire no. Think anyones gonna be happy with a plan like this? Hey hurry up and get these cuffs off of me!" You hear Marco yell. So you fly lower to the battlefield between Ace and Marco.

"For Pops!" Squire says. But pops stops the landboat with one hand.

"Dont you know how cruel it is to force a father to bury his own sons! And show some humility. You think im on my last legs because of one meesily poke? It was settled long before I came here. Everyone has to grow old and die some day" Pops says.

"Listen up Whitebeard pirates and listen well, these are my final orders as your Captain so you better follow them. Even family must parts ways now and again. You must survive continue your legacy without me!" Pops says as he uses his Tremor-Tremor fruit on the base which makes it crumble.

"Now go and forge your own path!" Pops yells.

"What are you" Ace yells.

"Lets finally put an end to this, you Navy bastards" Pops yells. You fly down since your tired inbetween Ace and Luffy.

"Commander Marco lets head back" one of the other commanders says to Marco.

"Pops" You hear Marco say.

"Hurry Strawhat weve got to move on the double!" Ivanka yells.

"Ace hurry up the old guy made up his mind weve gotta go" Luffy yells to Ace but Ace just stands back to us all looking at Pops while your in the middle.

"I know this is it. Back off you bastards!" Ace yells while throwing a firebolt towards the marines that were behind Pops.

"The time for words has passed my son. But tell me one last thing.. are you happy to have this old fool as your father?" Pops says to Ace.

"Of course Dad!" Ace cries tears down his face. Bending over. He gets up and we all start running along with Jimbe.

"As soon as they rescued Fire Fist Ace they fled what a cowardly crew along with their Captain. Its not your fault thats just your Captain a washed up failure" Akainu says to Ace.

Ace stops making you and Luffy stop, you in the middle.

"Take it back or else" Ace turns to Akainu.

"Ace no dont just keep moving!"

"He can say whatever he wants lets go" a crewmate says to Ace. Ace shrugs off the crewmate and says

"No one gets away with mocking Pops!"

"Ace stop!!" You and Luffy yell but it falls on deaf ears.

"Take it back huh? Its not an insult its the truth" Akainu says then mocks Pops more.

"Shut it!" Ace says

"Leave him run!"

"Ace!" Everyone yells as Ace and Akainu go toe to toe throwing a magma punch and a flame punch. Ace falls back on his stomach in pain holding his hand as Akainu mocks him now too. Luffy tries to walk forward but falls on his knees trying to grab aces vivre card Ace yells

"Wait Luffy!!" As Akainu jumps up with a magma arm you teleport in front of Ace trying to use iron body haki but you were too slow as Ace protects Luffy. Akainus arm goes straight through both of you and Ace as you have your arms raised. Everyones mouths are agape. Both you and aces back to back spit up massive amount of blood.

"Ace! (N)!!! Noo!!! Yoi" You hear Marco yell. As everyone runs to get revenge you hear Marco yell

"Hurry up get these dam things off me!! (N)! Ace! Yoi"

"Im trying my best but there just too strong!" A crewmate yells back.

"Hey wait a sec, he can help us, you know the guy who opened Aces cuffs!" Another crewmate says. Akainu jumps back as you fall on the floor regenerating but slowly the pain is overwhelming. You cant see Marco anymore as you just lay there next to Ace bleeding out eyes closed listening to the battle. You hear Akainu say as he walks back over after a failed attempt to fire missiles at Akainu from your crewmates.

"Dont do it!" You hear Luffy yell at Akainu.

"Ace!! (N)!!" You hear Pops yell but when he goes to throw a Tremor a light beam goes through his arm at least thats what it sounds like. With all you can muster you teleport onto the ship where Marco is on deck a gapping hole in your stomach gasping for breath as you cough up blood. Marco notices you and crawls over to you.

"My poor sweet little bird Yoi" tears stung his eyes as he says to you not daring to touch you lest you might die. Slowly you try to get up but Marco gently pushes you down.

"Just rest (n) youve done enough Shh dont try and talk Yoi" Marco says as you open your eyes to look at him. Hes tearing up just looking at the hole in you petting your hair as hes still shackled to sea prism with holes in him still. You turn your head to see whats going on. Jimbe had blocked Akainus magma with fishman karate as Ace just stood there with luffy in back. Marcos tears stop as he says

"Jimbe Yoi"

"Marco we got the key guy!" A crewmate yells to him.

"I thought I was dead but you saved me" Mr. Three says.

"Save it for later unlock these cuffs!!" Marco yells at him.

"Seems my job is never done" Akainu says. As a commander yells

"Jimbe get down!" As Marco and the lower ranking commander slice Akainu Marco with his talons and the other commander with swords.

"Haki users what a pain. But your far too late" Akainu says.

"We were so close!" You hear Marco say.

"Dont give up yet theres still a chance" the lower commander says.

"The battle has ended Fire Fist is done for and I got (n) the Angel as well now its time for this brat" Akainu says as he regenerates himself. Ace exchanges some words then Luffy throws a fit yelling at everyone to help Ace. Then they exchange some heartfelt words. As everyone looks to Ace he collapses on the ground. Everyone starts crying but you can barely breath let alone keep your eyes open. As your blood pools around you. Your getting slower and slower at regenerating. Luffy goes straight into shock as Akainu says

"I wont miss twice!" Suddenly Marco flies straight into Akainus fist attack.

"Ive seen enough death for today! First Ace then my mate! Back off! Marco yells as he flares in a circle to keep Akainu away from Luffy.

"Luffy wake up weve got to go!" Jimbe yells but to no reply.

"Listen we can not give into despair! Go carry Strawhat if he wont run hurry! We may have lost Ace and (n) today but hell live on through Luffy!" You close your eyes and listen to Marcos words.

"If Ace cant protect him than as his family we have to step up! Ace is our brother! Fight like your prides on the line in his honor!!" Marco yells.

"When I hold an execution I make sure to dam well finish the job!" Akainu yells and blasts crewmates and Marco away.

"Mmm-" you try to yell Marcos name but almost nothing comes out.

"Shh (n) dont speak your barely alive"

"I dont think shes gonna make it look at that gaint hole!" some of your crewmates tell you on deck.

"Look behind you Akainu sir!" Some grunts yell as Whitebeard appears behind Akainu using his Tremor-Tremor fruit smashing his head into the floor clearly pissing off Whitebeard.

"Come on we gotta get outta here! All the pirates left on the ice yell as they run. Whitebeard throws a series of blows to Akainu but Akainu uses a surprise attack thrusting his magma fist into Pops core.

"Oh no!!" You hear your mate yell. As you turn your head eyes blurry you make out that Pops wasnt going to live but you all ready knew that since your from the future you almost forgot. As Akainu withdrawals his punch everyone yells out

"Pops no!"

Suddenly Pops grabs Akainu by the collar and raises him up then throws him up as he falls Pops uses his Tremor-Tremor fruit to shatter Akainu and Marine Ford causing massive titanic earthquakes splitting apart from his sons so a massive gap appears.

"Dammit why?!" Marco yells as Pops says on the other side.

"I am your enemy should you have the resolve come and fight me!"

You suddenly hear your first commander yell

"Retreat get back to the ship!Yoi" Pops fights off hundreds of marines as you see Marco pull out a vivre card while watching the battle.

'He seems tense too tense' you think as you spat out more blood barely breathing.

"Hang in there (n) Marco will be back soon" your crewmates reasure you. Suddenly Blackbeard appears from behind the building of the Navy stepping onto the battlefield.

"Hey Pops glad I could make it to your funeral haha you miss me?" Teach yells to Whitebeard.

"Lets finish this you dam traitor! Teach!" Pops yells back.

"Marco!!" Pops yells to him as he transformed into a Phoenix.

Marco turns back into a human and yells to Pops

"Let me help you!! Yoi"

"Listen you stay out of this one boy!" Pops says to the First commander.

"But your hurt! Yoi"

"Didnt you hear me?! Go take care of (n) she suffered a great blow" Pops says back.

"Now lets finish this!" Pops says looking at Teach. As Teach coats the battlefield with darkness you allready knew how it would end. They exchanges insults as Pops attacks with his Tremor-Tremor fruit teach says

"Vortex!" Sucking up Whitebeards power. Teach punches Pops easily once hes grabbed onto Whitebeard. Suddenly Pops caught his glaive and slashes Teachs shoulder.

"You know when I captured Ace I almost got that Mate of yours too Marco too bad, I was plannin on havin some fun with her before turning her over too" Teach yells. Which you could tell it pissed him off.

"I wont let you ever touch her!! Yoi" Marco screams.

"Your a fool you were never fit to be in my crew!" Whitebeard clutches Teachs face with his hand. You feel like your soul is slipping away but you stay conscious to watch this play out. Pops used his power and crushed Teach while everyone cheered but then stopped as they noticed Teach was still alive.

"Come on finish him Pops!"

"One more time Pops!" The crew yelled.

"Hes not budging Pops!" A crewmate yells.

"Hes taken on a lot of damage today. On top of his worsening health. All this fighting is starting to take its toll. Pops is still strong but his body is..." you hear the Phoenix say.

"Stay away from me you monster!" Teach yells in fear and pulls out his gun. Firing at the same time Pops would have hit him with a tremor but his Tremor disappears.

"No!! Dont do it!! Yoi" Marco yells.

"Finish him off hurry!" Teach commands. As his crew come together they relentlessly attack Pops continuously but Pops just laughs.

"Nooooo!!!!!" All the Whitebeard pirates yell. Whitebeard says a lot about a war thats going to happen in the future.

"The One Piece!! The One Piece is real!!!!" Pops screams as you see everyone crying especially Marco. You would cry but you could barely breath or keep your eyes open but a single tear managed its way out.

"Hes dead I cant believe that bastard! He just died on his feet!" Teach yells. You see Marco fall to the ground crying. Of course even though you were with them for a short time you finally found a family. You shared in your lover sentiment for Pops though you knew it cut your Phoenix deeper than you could imagine. After the tears everyone started to escape on ships.

"Thats bastard! Yoi!" You hear Marco curse.

"Marco for what its worth we all share your sentiment. But its not the time for revenge" A commander says putting a hand on Marcos shoulder.

"Ya I get it lets go Yoi" Marco said as they ran off towards the ships him looking at a vivre card. Suddenly Aokiji froze the ocean and Akainu popped up in front of Jimbe having a little chat with Akainu while things get more heated down there they move out of your line of sight. As you see Marco running to your ship you also see Teach use his Dark-Dark fruit then use Pops Tremor-Tremor fruit in his other hand.

"Ah no it cant be Yoi!" Marco yells.

"He stole that power from Pops!"

"I know but how that isnt normal is it?!" Crewmates yells panicked.

"I thought if you tried to get a second devilfruit power then your body would like blow up?!"

"Yea for normal people thats how it works. But you know as well as I do that Teach is anything but normal. And with that body of his he could pull a trick that we couldnt even dream of. Hes probably been planning this thing for ages now Yoi" you hear Marco say. Teach gives a speech which you cant follow. Suddenly you hear a loud collision. Followed by meteors falling from behind you on the island. Suddenly Crocodile unleashed a twister making Jimbe and Strawhat fly up in the air Buggy cetches them and flies away from Akainus magma fist.

"Noble sentiment from a bunch of criminals, but in the end its just empty talk. I wont hesitate to strike you down" Akainu says.

"Same here, your insistence on killing Strawhat just proves to us how much you fear him and if a tough guy like you is scared of a boy like him then that means hes worth protecting to the death if need be! Yoi!" Marco yells. As a submarine surfaces you hear a voice yell to Buggy

"Strawhat may be my enemy some day but ill let the fates decide that one. Either way would be a waste to let him die here. Hand him over and we can escape! Hell die without my help! Trust me im a doctor Ya" you hear a familiar voice say as you then pieced it together.

'Its Trafalgar law' you think to your self as your vision began to get blurry. You see Marco fly up and block Akainus attack.

"Thats enough your not laying a finger on Strawhat or anyone else Yoi!" You hear your Phoenix say to Akainu. You hear a bunch of marines join the battle.

"Youve done enough!!!" Koby screams.

"A marine? Yoi" Marco says. Koby gives a speech and as Akainu uses his magma arm to punch Koby but Red Haired Shanks blocks his attack with his sword.

"A splendid speech touched my heart, and they were few those small moment of courage will change this world though only the future will tell if its for the better or for the worst" you can make out what Shanks was saying here and there.

"Its Red Haired Shanks oh no!!" Marines shout. As battles go on around you. Your lulled into unconsciousness. As your regeneration slows even more agaping hole in your stomach. You bet your vivre card was slowly disintegrating.

Eventually you feel warmth after the long embrace of coldness and maybe death. Your grogginess feels lighter and lighter as your brought to the surface of life again. Hearing a heart beat monitor getting faster paced you felt so heavy but your eyes flicker open, blurriness as the hear beat monitor increases in bpms. You hear a man exit the room yelling

First of all, I was so shocked reading this because this just came from nowhere and honestly I just thought that Drake was really stepping up right now but

I should have known that they wouldn't take down CP0 like that (but honestly, Izo took down one of the CP0 in one panel so it would'nt have been too big of a reach).

The citizens of the flower capital are still writing wishes on the lanterns and raising them to the sky, and I would love for Luffy to take down Kaido with all of the wishes and lanterns flying in the sky.

We cut back to Kaido versus Luffy fighting, and Luffy still in Gear Fourth - although he's still worried his Gear Fourth is going to run out before he has time to defeat Kaido (which!! Listen!! I don't think Gear Fourth is his last power up though? Haven't we gotten a power-up for every fight, and yes I know we got Conqueror's Haki for this one but don't you think we could get something else?)

And then!! Kaido "takes one out of" Luffy's book and looks into the future, which would make sense because there's no way the main opponent in Wano wouldn't have future sight!!

I've seen a lot of people (already) talk about how it's weird that Kaido didn't use FS before, but it really... isn't? We know Observation Haki can be draining, especially when you see into the future. Kaido wouldn't use FS unless he really thinks that he couldn't have escaped Luffy's attacks and when he's truly on the defense. It really makes sense, why would you show all of your powers immediately?

We've also got Kaido telling Luffy, after Luffy says the Samurai are strong: A brave face makes them strong? Winners shouldn't need rationalizations!! Which are you?! Winner or loser?!

-- Which is interesting. Could this be a facade? Is Kaido talking about himself in a way? (Remember his sad drunk/depressed drunk phase when he was crying about not being able to fight/being too weak and "something" being his fault?) I think we might actually delve into Kaido's past soon!!

Ain’t No Picnic (7/9)

Summary: They were just supposed to head over to the island real quick, just to see what was going on. After all, if pirates were trying to ambush and kill the Straw Hat crew, how could Coby NOT go? And how could Helmeppo let him go alone? It should be simple enough, but nothing can be taken for granted in the New World, and when things go awry, Helmeppo finds himself separated from his captain on an island chain full of pirates who probably won’t be too happy to see a Marine if their paths cross.Oh yeah. And one of those pirates is the infamous “Surgeon of Death,” Trafalgar Law… Warnings: Occasional strong language Read it on AO3

As they approached, Helmeppo heard someone shout out another line of words. This was followed a few seconds later by explosions, off to their left.

“This is a … sniper?” Helmeppo asked. It sounded more like a small artillery unit crossed with a demented gardener.

Law’s answer took so long to arrive that Helmeppo half thought the man wasn’t going to answer. “I guess maybe that’s not exactly right,” he amended. “But it’s the easiest way to put it. Let me go first.”

They stepped around a cluster of three massive leaves, Helmeppo letting Law lead the way. On the other side, they found a dark-skinned young man with a truly massive slingshot in hand. His sodden clothes and damp hair suggested he’d also taken at least one dunking today, and somewhat recently. He must have figured out the same thing Law had, then. He watched growing smoke plumes about half a mile off through a pair of goggles, a look of grim satisfaction on his face.

“Nose-ya,” Law said as he approached. His voice startled the sniper, who hopped in surprise and whirled on the pair. “Where is he?”

The sniper’s face told a whole story -- from relief at seeing it was someone he recognized to surprise at seeing a second person behind Law, to a searching glance away from them, off in the direction of the smoke plumes, as he considered the question. Whatever their relationship, apparently the guy trusted that if Helmeppo were a problem, Law wouldn’t have allowed him over here. Which … fair. So rather than asking the obvious question himself, he just said, “A little under a mile that way. I don’t know what exactly is going on, but I think they could use you.”

“Something wrong?”

“Maybe. Something’s going on near her tank. Everything I try gets intercepted. And Luffy should have already ended this. For some reason they can’t get to her and it’s hamstringing them.” Frustration weighed down his words. His attention kept going to the horizon, though there was too much distance and foliage for him to be seeing a mile off clearly. Haki. Definitely.

“And everyone else?”

The sniper looked like he wanted to protest the query, then thought the better of it. “Beppo was over there last I knew.” he pointed at about two o’clock from where he’d said Luffy was. “Shachi, Penguin, Franky and a couple others went back to protect the ships, in case they got rushed. Brook is with Luffy. Nami and Robin are with Chopper on one of the other islands.” He idly pointed in the direction of the stormclouds. “Zoro and Sanji both keep moving. For different reasons I assume.” He added the last partly under his breath.

Helmeppo couldn’t help it. “And Coby?”

For the first time, the sniper looked directly at Helmeppo, studying his bedraggled state. Then his eyes slid over toward Law, asking a question he didn’t want heard.

“That guy who showed up right before the island swallowed everyone,” Law clarified.

“Ah.” He looked off toward the battle’s center again, then back to Helmeppo. “Can’t be sure, but I think he’s up there too. Not too many people just hopping around in the sky, and I know the other one.”

Some internal spring that had been wound so tight for so long that Helmeppo had stopped even noticing it relaxed at that. So he’s still alive and fighting. He’s OK.

“Thanks,” he said, trying to pass it off as nonchalant. But this close, he could see the guy’s eyes through the lenses of his goggles. And in those eyes, he saw two things. First, the sniper was not buying his tone.

And second, the guy understood. Understood the relief of knowing a friend was safe, and understood the need to pretend that things were otherwise.

So- “Thanks,” Helmeppo said again, and this time it sounded like he meant it.

“I’ll cover you guys if you’re going in,” the sniper said. “Oh, and here.” He tossed something small, one to Law and then, after a brief hesitation, one to Helmeppo. Helmeppo glanced at the item -- a clear capsule with something green inside. Green and squirming. “Snap it if you need to get some distance. And cover your ears, I haven’t had much of a chance to test them yet.” He grinned.

Helmeppo pocketed the item, still a little unnerved that the guy was just accepting his presence -- and honestly still weirded out that Law hadn’t just ditched him once they got back here. Grateful, sure, but also very weirded out.

The pair moved through the ruined undergrowth in the rough direction of the first battlefield. The fighting must have been intense, and the ammunition types the Straw Hat sniper -- God Usopp, wasn’t it? -- used were doing it no favors. Large patches were open all the way down to the dark water,the surface littered with little torn bits of plant material. Massive leaves had been knocked over, letting the sun beat down on their path. Unconscious pirates lay here and there, often with no visible damage. Helmeppo tried not to be too impressed with the pirate, and maybe it was the stress of the day or the heat of the sun, but he was finding it difficult once again.

Despite the story not getting out to the public at large, Helmeppo had heard a fair amount from gossip around headquarters. Of a guy using a slingshot to out-shoot the crew’s guns from the top of one of the towers. If this was him -- the guy who’d shot the World Government flag, the one with apparently superhuman range as he protected Nico Robin -- well, he was glad they were on the same side for now.

Now and then, something would go whizzing past them, close but not too close, and something would explode or erupt ahead of them, and dismayed pirate voices would shout. And thus, Law and Helmeppo made it to the main battlefield without actually having to fight anyone else. Helmeppo wasn’t about to look a gift horse in the mouth.

The battlefield featured far fewer combatants than it had earlier, but that just made the specific clashes easier to see. There seemed to be two big knots -- one by the mermaid’s tank, which still stood where it had been before and one all the way across the clear area. Like the last time he’d arrived on this battlefield, the guy he was following didn’t even hesitate, and that left Helmeppo trying very hard to keep up while attempting to even begin formulating a plan.

Coby was indeed on the battlefield, engaged with a wiry-looking fighter with bright red hair wearing loose, flowing clothing. They were darting around the space, clashing and parting and clashing again. Helmeppo could see the grim focus on his captain’s face. The other man said something, distance rendering it just movement for Helmeppo, but it led Coby to swing hard at the guy’s face.

It was a clean hit.

It should have been a clean hit.

It was a miss.

Helmeppo’s pace lagged as he tried to make sense of what he’d seen. The guy hadn’t moved. Coby’s punch should have caught him square in the jaw, but somehow slid off target, ruffling the ends of the guy’s red hair but causing no damage. The guy laughed, then countered, but Coby slid under his return strike.

Despite wanting to help, Helmeppo forced his attention away from that. He’d only be a distraction. Coby could take care of that guy, no problem, as long as he could focus.

Law was going to help out at the mermaid’s tank, where a press of people stood guard still, mostly watching the other fights. Though now, one or two had noticed Law’s approach and were pointing him out to the others.

Guess that’s the right place to go, Helmeppo thought, adjusting his angle.

From behind them, he heard another of the sniper’s projectiles whining across the island, growing closer. It shot overhead, on the dead-on course for the area near the Mermaid’s container.

Until it wasn’t.

At the last second, the projectile took a hard turn, veering into the undergrowth and exploding out of sight.

Law stopped at that, whirling to look back the way they’d come from, then toward the thin plume of smoke coming from, presumably, the impact site. Helmeppo stopped as well. What had the sniper said? Everything I try gets intercepted. That push and pull power -- was this related to that? That might also explain the weird difficulty Coby was having with his opponent.

“Hey.” Law’s voice cut through his thoughts. Helmeppo looked at the pirate, who gestured toward thesmoke with a tilt of his head. “The person who did that should be near the impact site. Can you take care of them?”

How was he supposed to know? But the guy did seem to have a quick mind for figuring things out. Would he ask if he thought the answer was no? And it might be the place he could be most useful.

“Sure.”

“Then go.”

He said it as though giving Helmeppo orders were an everyday thing. Maybe it was just a captain thing? Well, whatever. He wanted to watch Coby’s back, but maybe the best way would be to figure out what was going on. Law certainly seemed to have a better grasp on this situation than he did. So he only hesitated for a moment before changing his bearing yet again.

Ahead of him, a couple pirates moved to intercept him, though most eyes were still on other folks on the battlefield. Helmeppo pulled his weapons free, ready to cut his way through.

Then they were gone.

No. He was in a whole different place.

Slowing, he glanced over his shoulder to see those two pirates looking around, as confused as he felt. He’d been moved from there to … here. Near the edge of the clearing.

Well, that was unsettling. But again, he wasn’t going to let the moment escape. He shoved aside a leaf taller than he was and pushed into the dense vegetation yet again.

He wasn’t moving very quietly, but luckily the island was alive with massive noises -- shouts and explosions and the susurration of wind in the leaves. So he didn’t worry too much about it as he headed for the thin plume of smoke that indicated where the sniper’s attack had ultimately hit.

He wasn’t far from the battlefield when he caught sight of movement.

Slowing his pace, Helmeppo crept closer. Up ahead, a small cluster of pirates stood a little ways from a charred leaf stump. Smoke trailed from its sizzling ends in a thin line.

“I’m telling you, it’s not working,” one of them was saying as he got in earshot. “We lost the element of surprise. We need to run. And now that other pirate’s there!”

“No. Not yet,” another said. “We still have both twins. They’ll be calling him in any moment, as soon as someone takes care of that sniper. They still don’t really understand what they’re in for. We have to take this opportunity.”

“It’s not worth it. We’re going to lose!”

A slap echoed around the area, accompanied by a shocked sound from the first speaker. Helmeppo peered through a fan of long, grass-like leaves, trying to ignore that he’d stepped in something super oozy.

“You want to run, run Darvell,” the second person said. Helmeppo could see it was an older man, hair going salt and pepper, with a build and skin color that suggested there was shark fishman somewhere in his blood. Captain Darvell, presumably, stood a few feet away from him, one hand on his cheek, eyes furious. The captain wore a flamboyant coat over plain clothing. All looked dry.

“I just want us to be reasonable,” Darvell replied, voice tight and careful, enunciating every word. “Sure, Straw Hat killed the slave trade, but ain’t much revenge if you let the guy who ruined your life take it as well.”

“He ain’t taking anything yet,” the second man said.

In addition to the two arguing pirates, Helmeppo saw three others -- A woman in tight clothes and wearing two crossed belts full of little knives watching the pair with narrowed eyes, a scrawny young man with bright red hair who was looking up at the sky and a massive, older man with short hair with his back to everyone, talking to what Helmeppo assumed was a den den mushi in his hand.

Any further squabbling got cut off as the scrawny young man tilted his head and said, “Someone’s trying again. Watch out.”

He said it nonchalantly, as though commenting on the weather, while he walked toward the sizzling stump. The rest of the group shifted subtly away from the spot. The scrawny guy tilted his head the other way, then reached up into the air with both hands, closed his fingers as though grabbing the sky itself, and pulled.

As he did, Helmeppo heard it -- the whistling sound of another of the sniper’s shots, coming closer. The scrawny guy scampered away as something came hurtling out of the sky. On impact it unfolded into a series of vines -- not the same sort as had grabbed Helmeppo earlier, but clearly looking to do something similar. With no one close enough, they just waggled about impotently.

“He’s persistent,” the graying man said as the lady wandered over to peer at the vines from a safe distance.

“They all are,” the scrawny guy replied, looking at the sky once more. The others mirrored the movement. “We can’t let our guard down while we wait for the call.”

So, as if the hair wasn’t proof enough, that guy was the other twin. He didn’t understand the power, but figured that guy was the most important out of this group here. He felt like anyone else with the sort of power to match the Straw Hats would be out there fighting. So maybe they were here as a privilege of position or as a token defense force for that guy until he went to the battle? They definitely looked stronger than the ones from the cave, but he saw no guns and there were fewer of them. The power user looked like a kitten might be able to knock him over. Helmeppo thought he could take them.

Probably.

Assuming they didn’t have anything hidden up their sleeves.

At the very least, five on one wasn’t the worst odds he’d faced today.

He shifted his fingers, changing his grip until the kukri sat comfortably in his hands. The scrawny guy could use a pulling power, so he might lose his weapons fairly early. That meant he needed to move quick, get at least one of them out of the way very fast. If he went for the devil fruit user right away, they’d just gang up, and at this point, he didn’t want to deal with that. But if he took one out, that would mean fewer attackers and the others might hesitate.

He decided on the maybe-fishman first. He looked strongest of the four nearby pirates, and was the closest. Plus, he didn’t see a weapon, which might give Helmeppo a slight reach advantage. After that, he’d need to go for the power user. Either the woman or Darvell could be dangerous, but hopefully if they were, they’d display their strength quickly.

What was it people said? No plan survives contact with the enemy? No point in overthinking it. He focused on the fishman and rushed forward.

His target was caught off guard, eyes still turned toward the sky instead of the surroundings, but he recovered fast, crossing his arms to block Helmeppo’s strike. The blades bit in about half an inch, drawing blood and leaving a pair of long slices down his gray forearms.

“Attacker!” the guy shouted, pivoting and striking out at Helmeppo, who narrowly dodged. He could feel the strength of the punch as it split the air by his face.

Ok. This would need to end quickly.

Planting one foot, he spun and put the speed of that move into the next strike.

“Ren, duck!” Darvell shouted.

The shout disrupted them both. Helmeppo lost focus on where he intended to strike. As he was turning, the man started to duck, more out of knee-jerk reaction to the shouted suggestion than because he planned to. So what was intended to be two strikes near his elbow, to hopefully render it temporarily useless, turned into one knife into the shoulder.

And one in the neck.

Helmeppo froze as the fishman stumbled back away from him, one hand clapping to his wound. Blood spilled -- not to where Helmeppo thought he’d hit an artery, but enough. A lot.

“Shit. Get back to the ship, Ren! We’ll handle him,” the woman barked, casting a murderous look at Darvell, who shrank from her. The fishman backed off a few more steps, then turned and ran, presumably to do as she said.

Okay, four on one… wait, where had the one with the den den mushi gone?

No time to think about it. He’d take the better odds.

The woman had begun moving toward him, maybe angry about what he’d done to her friend. He considered just fighting her next. In all honesty, she looked stronger than Darvell, and her eyes showed more intensity than his. So while the man in the ridiculous coat was still closer, Helmeppo ignored that and eyed her.

Nope. Don’t draw this out. You have something to do.

He whirled toward the scrawny guy, blades ready. The man looked not at Helmeppo, but at the woman -- for orders? No matter. Helmeppo felt sure he could get to that guy before she could stop him. So he charged, trying to bypass her entirely.

The woman seemed ready for it, pulling one of the small knives from her belt and throwing it, not at him, but angled behind him.. To Darvell? But that man had a sword already, and the little knives didn’t even really have a handle -- they were meant for throwing, so-

He realized belatedly what might be happening, but understanding came at the same time as a sharp pain, lancing through him from a point low on the left side of his back. He stopped, startled, and reached back to yank the item free. The knife. Blood warned his fingertips and made a spot on the hilt of his kukri sticky. Looking up he saw the red-haired man’s hands balled into fists in front of him, not as though ready to hit him, but like he was holding something.

Fantastic. The guy had pulled that sniper's attack toward himself earlier, yanking it out of the sky. He’d realized he might lose his kukri to it. He’d had all the information he needed to realize that the guy could do the same thing with a tiny knife, he’d just been an idiot and not thought about it.

The woman already had another pair of the little weapons between her fingers. His understanding of the situation must have made its way to his face, because she grinned at him.

“Still time to run,” she said.

Not a bad idea.

So he did.

“Hey, hey!” the devil fruit user shouted, falling back a step as he saw Helmeppo again pounding in his direction. The guy almost bolted, then something caught his attention. He reached out, grabbing at the air.

Helmeppo threw himself to the left before the guy pulled. A knife soared by Helmeppo, flying straight toward the devil fruit user, who shrieked in an undignified manner and tried to dodge, but coordination didn’t seem to be a strong suit. He turned more than actually moving. The knife sunk into his left bicep. Then Helmeppo was there, channeling his first fight with Butterfingers.

At least this time, it only took one solid strike to the temple to put the guy out. Or maybe he wasn’t pulling his punches this time. With the water right there, he caught the guy by one limp arm and lowered him to the ground.

Jeeze, with the way this fight was going, maybe he could understand why these folks had been left out of the big fight.

If Darvell had kept his mouth shut, the blind-side attack he tried next might have actually hit home. Fortunately for Helmeppo, the guy let out a loud shout as before swinging at his back. There wasn’t enough time to move, but he did swing a weapon up and across his back before the sword struck home. The strike carried incredible weight, forcing his arm to an awkward angle and pushing the blunt side of Helmeppo’s weapon against his back hard enough that he felt sure he’d have a bruise across his shoulders later. Better than being split down the spine, he thought.

“Darvell, we’re getting beat by some sort of castaway,” the woman shouted in frustration. He thought she sounded closer. “Stop screwing around!”

The pressure on his blade let up enough that Helmeppo could shove it away and turn to face the two remaining fighters. “You should leave,” he said, both blades up in a ready stance as he tried to keep both of them in sight. “The Straw Hats and their allies are back together. They’re going to be cleaning up the ringleaders soon.”

The woman held fast, but Darvell had been primed for this. At Helmeppo’s words, he stepped back a few paces, glancing over at his sole remaining teammate. “Anne, I told you guys-”

“He’s trying to scare us off because we still have him outnumbered,” she replied with a patience that suggested this sort of dialogue was common between them. “We can take him if we just treat it like always. You always overreact.”

“Then where did Cap go?” Darvell said. “He was getting the reports from the guys with the mermaid. He booked it. Maybe this guy’s right.”

Anne’s eyes slid from her teammate to Helmeppo’s ready form. “Well if that’s the case, let’s kill him first. Maybe give us more time. Plus I’m mad now.”

As they discussed, Helmeppo took stock of his situation. Coming for the devil fruit user had put him at the edge of the huge hole in the lilypad -- not a great place to be, especially with the memory of those vines still fairly fresh. Plus, he wasn't exactly in great shape anymore. He didn’t have the free hand to check the wound in his back, but it definitely still hurt, and he could feel his clothes sticking to him worse where the blood soaked them. He didn’t fancy getting another dozen or so of those in him. He’d taken out the devil fruit user. Was that enough? If so, maybe a retreat of his own was in order. Maybe he could even draw them after him, so they couldn’t wake the guy back up.

Carefully, he side-stepped around the devil fruit user, edging toward the long, concealing leaves of the nearby forest. “Actually,” he said, “Maybe I’ll just go call one or two of them over here.” Come on, come on...

“Stop!” Anne shouted.

He pivoted and ran for cover, feeling a sense of relief as the plants closed around him.

Then something stepped into his path, too quick for Helmeppo to stop. The collision didn’t move the thing, but sent him rebounding back a step, caught entirely off guard. Before he could properly register what it was, a powerful kick slammed into his midsection, driving his breath from him and forcing him back out into the open. He tried to keep his balance, but the uneven ground tangled his feet and he fell backward to the ground.

“Cap!” Anne said. “Finally. Where did you go?”

“I was making sure this Marine didn’t run for help,” growled a voice.

“Marine?” Darvell sounded scandalized.

On the ground Helmeppo had released one of his weapons to wrap an arm around his chest. Oh boy. Something had definitely broken with that kick. Breathing in too deeply sent pain radiating from the center-right part of his torso. Got to get up,” he thought, pressing the knuckles of his other hand shakily to the ground. Got to get up now

“One of the two who showed up uninvited,” the new voice continued. “Weren’t you idiots paying attention to anything?”

The figure stepped out of the underbrush. In a petulant voice, Darvell said, “We had other things on our mind, Cap. You remember -- everyone getting dumped in the water?”

“So we should definitely kill him,” Anne mused.

Helmeppo looked up, gritting his teeth against the pain -- and stopped. His breath knotted in his throat for a second.

No.

The figure stopped just beyond the edge of the undergrowth, arms crossed. Helmeppo had to force his gaze up to the man’s face, just to confirm what he already knew in just those few words and that posture. The newcomer gazed down with a glower, all irritation and impatience, at the injured Marine. There was nothing like recognition there, and nothing like pity. But Helmeppo couldn’t stop one word from slipping past his lips.

“Dad?”

Bandai Namco has released a new selection of character trailers for One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 featuring Nami, Roronoa Zoro, Sanji, and Usopp.

Nami

The genius navigator who can predict any weather!

Nami uses her vast knowledge of navigation and natural talent for reading the weather in order to steer the ship. The crew couldn’t have gotten to where they are today without her! From an early age, Nami excelled in making nautical charts. Her dream was to create a map of the entire world. She came to hate pirates after a certain crew took over her hometown, but after Luffy saved her, she joined the Straw Hats.

Nami is arguably the most level-headed of the crew. Not only does she set the ship’s course, she’s the team mom who looks after the others. She’s also very strict with money, and anyone who overspends in her presence will soon regret it.

Action Type: Technique – Nami can wipe out entire groups by engulfing them in clouds and dropping lightning bolts on them! Her close-range staff attacks are a bit on the weak side, but with careful cloud placement, she’s easily on par with the other fighters.

Roronoa Zoro

He’ll do anything to be the world’s greatest swordsman!

Zoro is the first member of the Straw Hat Pirates and Luffy’s most trusted swordsman.

When he was young, he learned sword skills alongside his friend and rival, Kuina. Sadly, she died in a tragic accident. Now Zoro works hard to keep his promise to her by becoming the world’s greatest swordsman. To that end, he is endlessly dedicated to his training. He prefers a challenge and will gladly risk his life fighting the strongest possible opponent.

Loyal with a heart of gold, Zoro is a pillar of support who would do anything for his trusted friends. While he supports Captain Luffy from the sidelines, if push comes to shove, he’s not afraid to show some tough love.

Action Type: Power – This more powerful Three-Sword Style now incorporates more jump attacks, effective against long-range enemies. He can also use Asura outside of Special Moves for a powerful area of effect attack.

Sanji

The chef with a mastery of kick-based combat!

Formerly the assistant chef at the ocean-going Restaurant Baratie, Sanji has a foul mouth, but his cooking is first-rate. He dreams of finding the All Blue, a legendary ocean that contains seafood ingredients from all over the world.

As the resident chef, Sanji can cook everything from large feasts for big eaters like Luffy to more intricate dishes for the female crew members. He loves to learn about obscure ingredients and dishes, then master them to hone his skills. He’s also a talented fighter using the kick-based combat he learned from his mentor, Red-Leg Zeff.

While Sanji is merciless against men, he has a deep weakness for women. His quick thinking and ingenuity has saved the crew countless times.

Action Type: Sky – While Sanji excels in mid-air combat, he’s also an expert in high-speed close-range fighting. His airborne combos are exceptionally powerful, but have highly specific uses, requiring careful strategy. With no long-range attacks, his reach is limited, and any battle with large groups or sniper-type opponents will give him a hard time. He can pull in multiple enemies with ground combos, then knock them sky-high for major airborne damage – this is his most effective strategy. Along with Full-Force Burst, he can shift to Sky Walk to boost his power.

Usopp

The sniper who yearns to be a warrior of the sea!

Usopp longs to be a brave warrior of the sea like his father Yasopp, the sniper of the Red Hair Pirates. Having inherited Yasopp’s sharpshooting talent, he serves the same role for the Straw Hats. Versed in lying and bluffing, he’s prone to boasting, but this can help him in a fight. Deft of hand, Usopp is talented in crafting new tools and weapons. He was in charge of ship repairs until Franky joined.

Usopp has a pessimistic, cowardly personality. Dangerous adventures and powerful foes often get the better of him, but he summons all his courage to stand up once more and continue on the path of a true warrior of the sea!

Action Type: Technique – Now that he has Pop Greens, Usopp has a new wealth of attacks that utilize plants. He can fire fertilizer onto seedlings in strategic areas, resulting in an ultra-powerful attack as the plants expand to full size!

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch on March 26, 2020 in Japan, and for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on March 27 in the Americas and Europe. Read more about the game here.

My Hero Academia Chapter 226 Review

This is a rather conflicting chapter for me to grade on. On one hand, there are points that I like such as Toga’s backstory and the battle’s conclusion. On the other hand, there are points that reminded me on why the series’ formula needs an update or change that will benefit in the long run. It also doesn’t help to assure the purpose behind the new faction. When it comes down to the overall, it was a good chapter that was saved by focusing on Toga, one in which is long overdue for adding character’s depth.

From the get-go, the flashback shows many people interviewed about Toga’s strange behavior. She was seen as an outcast, weird, and unloved for who she really is. She even drank a popular boy’s blood back in middle school. There’s a couple of blocked text to hide Toga’s real name for some reason. It could be nothing or maybe a plot twist; who knows. Bottom line, she was not seen as normal for her fascination with blood.

The chapter shifts to the battlefield. I thought Toga will make a comeback at this point, but instead she collapse, leaving the floor room to Curious. This means more rambling, though because of her knowledge, her words basically narrates Toga’s life story. I believe that’s her whole point of her character; other than that, she’s rather single dimensional, and that’s disappointing. Anyway, Toga’s backstory is exploited further, where it becomes clear that her life cannot relate to society; eventually, pushed her away.

She has a strange fascination with blood, be it human or animal. People around her, family included, were disgusted by her action and smile. So much for the phrase, “A face that only a mother can love.” Reminding Toga of her past pisses her off, but Curious brings out a special glove and Curious Burst her face. Toga is at a clear disadvantage. She tries to run away, but she can’t get too far ahead. By this point, she was narrating how her life was never unhappy because of what she believes in.

She uses Ochako’s blood, transforming into her; I almost laugh at the ideal she does more work than the real self. Anyway, it doesn’t matter because it’s only for a disguise, not to use a quirk like one. We’ll get to that soon. Bottom line, Toga is screwed one way or another. Disguising as Ochako reminds her that she is lucky to have Deku’s complete trust in her and she wants to be like that. That’s her life. That’s actually a bit sad. If only she wasn’t this crazy.

Right before Toga gets another Curious Burst head-on, Curious begins to float. No, the real Ochako isn’t there and reveal as the big traitor as one theorized. No offense. It was Toga that made her float. She goes after other enemies, touching one-by-one. She recalls one of her ways of living as a villain: don’t get caught. This push her further and further to overcome the odds. Hero much? She realizes that she can use Ochako’s quirk.

According to Curious, she implies that quirk has evolved or upgraded by the power of fear, or in Toga’s case, it might as well be the power of love, even if her definition is twisted. This seems to reinforce the idea of feelings to be the key to unlock more power-ups. Even Deku’s recent new quirk was said to be reflected by his emotions. Toga regains her sadistic smile and release the float on Curious, dropping her from high up in the sky, straight to the ground. You see, when you’re a villain, this type of display is welcomed. Granted, heroes can do that in other series, but for this one, you need to count on a villain to be violent. Dead or knocked out, the battle has ended and Toga continue to live on to do what she knows best: destroy.

Let me first address the parts I like. I like the backstory of Toga. It’s simple, straight-forward, and reasonable. She was outcast by society, but she stood by her way of living, including love. I also like the struggle she was facing against Curious, probably the only good part aside from the ending. Speaking of which, it ended cool because it was dark and somewhat new to the series. We hardly see a villain gets the win; actually, probably never. Because it involved with two villains, a loss wouldn’t be harmful, like “Oh no! He’s my favorite hero! I really like that guy!” Basically, anything goes.

The problem I have is the execution. Let me first address the main key before everyone begin shoving at me. Yes, I know in volume 19, it was addressed that Toga can copy quirk alas Monoma 2.0. The problem is how it was presented. I have to look back at the past chapters, and the last time her quirk was described was in Internship Arc. That was the last time. It never said anything about copying quirk. Now, if we go by volume 19 additional detail, just exactly when Toga knows she can do it. The answer is just now. It can go many ways. You can say volume 19 spoiled the surprise of this chapter. You can say volume 19 was more or less contradicted since this chapter was designed as a big update. Which is it?

Removing the detail from volume 19, let’s talk about the idea of quirk’s evolution. I don’t have much of a problem with it. If anything, I would have prefer this over Six Quirks of Deku. That begs the question, why not use this concept instead. Maybe it’s not about evolution, but simply another technique. Whatever it is, at least this will keep character up-to-date. Although, everyone has a quirk, so it still applies the same effect; only few characters will get the spotlight. I can only hope Kohei’s imagination is expansive if he’s willing to go through with evolution. It’s passable; what’s troubling however, is the execution.

Toga acquired the ability to use other’s quirk. First of all, is having multiple quirks the Senju DNA of My Hero, where it becomes the most abusive tool to obtain godlike? It’s getting really old. Second, if volume 19 said she can do it, why is this a big surprise to her? Even if she did know, only she has properly control it, how convenient this was. It would have been a lot more interesting to see overcome the odds since that was the narrative it was pushing for. It can be said the same for acquiring a new ability, but it’s more of a cheap getting out of the corner technique. It’s the same problem this series seems to keep on bringing.

People would argue that Shounen series tends to have the characters acquire a new technique and win the battle. The difference is it’s not done as a game changer, rather a deciding factor. Naruto has Sage Mode; it wasn’t the endgame. Luffy has Gear 3; it wasn’t the endgame. Even the last big fight wasn’t as one-sided or one-hit kill. This wouldn’t be a problem if the battle structure would alter for each one. It’s either a brand new power or overwhelming defeat. The storytelling is getting repetitive, or already has. Plus, it’s odd for a villain to obtain a heroic factor to win, but they are designed for us to grow attach to their characters. I guess that’s why Curious hardly has any, and I could expect for others as well.

The battle was mediocre suffered by familiar structure, weak opponent in many ways, and a cheap turnaround. At least the ending was cool though. The artwork is pretty solid as well. I still like the chapter despite its execution. Toga’s backstory was long overdue to address, so it was good to learn more about her. Simple but effective. She is arguably fans’ favorite villain, so this is a great treat. My concern for the Meta Liberation Army has grown. They’re here as stepping stones. Maybe it’s still early to say, but perhaps I’m being optimistic. We’ll see after the break.

So here’s how i think Akainu is gonna go: he’s gonna have them(Strawhats) cornered and it’s going to be the normal One Piece big battle, they’re going to be losing ground, members are going to get desperate and go down and this is a personal want, i want Luffy to be absent for the first half and i want Jimbei and Zoro to be leading as best as they can and i want akainu to do the villain thing; WHERES YOUR CAPTAIN?! Yknow they all do it, and from the sky, i want Luffy to drop on him like he did in Marineford, and also like marine ford, i want the entire strawhat armada to come with him, and i want him and Marco to just knock Akainu across the entire new world Then drown him. I want to watch his justice fail.

So I’d like to think Luffy is gonna fight Blackbeard too, but Blackbeard is wildly different than AkainuBlackbeard is gonna go down cause he’s going to get cocky and he’s gonna do what every opponent that’s faced Luffy has done and that’s just take his strength at face value because yeah the kids strong but he’s not just strong, he’s a D, he’s tenacious, when he says he’s going to do something, time and time again he proves he’ll do it so i think they’ll make Blackbeard just take his base value strength and fight like that but he’ll get cocky and that will definitely be his downfall Luffy better get in like an Afro and paint his chest and war cry and i want the remnants of the Whitebeard pirates and luffys crew to just fucking cheer and go wild(i want garp, Law, sengoku, the entire new world) to see itBuggy needs to live stream the Blackbeard vs Luffy fight

A Dream Whose Name I Dare Not Mention 

Zoro stopped short. A figure stood ahead of him, wearing a pink shirt, blue shorts, and carrying a white-sheathed sword.

She readied her sword, and Zoro looked down in confusion to see it was the same as one of the ones on his right hip.

~ 

Zoro shook his head. “No. Why do I have this sword? Who are you?”

~ 

She charged, sword raised, and Zoro clumsily drew the same sword from his hip—but his skills had vanished with his memories, and he blocked awkwardly on instinct. Within seconds, his sword fell to the ground, and Kuina had her own blade aimed at his throat.

~ 

Kuina sheathed her sword and held out her hand. “You remembered?”

~ 

He trailed off. Zoro’s eyes drifted to the white-sheathed sword resting behind him—the one Kuina had held.

“Will you let me take that sword?” he said. “Her sword.” 

~ 

He removed the sword from its stand and presented it to Zoro. As Zoro took it, he saw a shiny object resting upon the sheath, and pocketed it with the other one.

~ 

Zoro narrowed his eyes. “Was that a taunt?” He drew his white-sheathed sword. “I don’t know why we’re fighting …”

~ 

His awkward blow was blocked by the dagger with expert skill. No matter how hard he pushed, he couldn’t move. In another moment, his sword was shoved aside and the dagger plunged into his chest.

~ 

Zoro readied his sword again. Another flash of memory returned to him: Lying on his back, bleeding heavily and holding his sword up, saying something—

~ 

He charged and swung his sword down at the same time as the man, and they passed each other, and for a moment they stood there, facing away—

Blood spurted from Zoro’s chest and he nearly collapsed, but managed to turn back around, sheathing his sword again and holding it as he stood facing the man, completely vulnerable.

“This is how it goes, isn’t it?” Zoro said, raising his sword high in the air. “I promise I’ll …”

~ 

Zoro looked around, startled. He was in a different town, he was running, Sanji was running with him, and there, on a tall execution platform, was Luffy: Locked down and lying just below a maniac dressed as a clown holding a sword.

He and Sanji ran through the people, fighting them back, but then the clown maniac swung his sword down—

~ 

A bolt of lightning shot down from the sky and struck the clown, making him drop his sword, and then the platform was on fire, burning to the ground—

~ 

“This can’t be heaven,” he said, placing a hand on his white-sheathed sword; as awful as his skills were at the moment, they were better than nothing. “Have I been dead this whole time? What a cliché twist.”

~ 

A noise made him turn around. He stood and faced the bald man with the giant dog, getting his sword ready.

~ 

Zoro drew his white-sheathed sword. “What would you say if I told you I’m going to defeat you here?” 

~ 

He readied his sword. “I don’t really get why, but I feel like this is what I’m supposed to do here.”

~ 

As the bald man readied his odd sword, and his dog got into a boxing position, Zoro felt a tug on his robe and looked down.

~ 

Zoro sliced down the door with a slash from his sword, caving in the wall, and all three charged into the room just as Luffy burst through the adjacent wall.

“I used it right?” he muttered to himself, glancing at his sword. He looked around the room and found several odd people, including a man with strange facial hair and a bird on his shoulder, someone who resembled Usopp, and Robin, dressed in a green cloak as if trying to keep herself hidden.

Zoro aimed his sword at the long-nosed man sitting so relaxed in a chair. “I need to fight you, don’t I?”

~ 

Zoro blinked. He was with Franky again, and there was Brook at last, he was facing a zombie (What?) who somehow resembled him, the zombie raised his sword—and Zoro rushed in to block the blow as Franky hurried over to get Brook out of the way. Brook was rather worse for wear, his skull badly cracked and his clothes scuffed (though his afro was still intact).

He and Sanji rushed, as if on instinct, towards him, stopping him with blows of sword and kicks.

~ 

Zoro stood and knocked Sanji out with the hilt of his sword.

~ 

He turned to Brook, but his eye widened and he jumped to his feet, drawing a sword.

~ 

But in the next second, Cheshire Cat vanished from sight. Zoro stilled, taking a deep breath, and he sheathed his sword again.

~ 

Zoro’s expression darkened, making the others scoot away. “We did,” he said, tone tinged with anger. He clenched a sword handle. “I know I did, and I know you all. You all must’ve fought hard, too.”

~ 

Humming caught his ears (not that there was anything to catch) and he turned to see a zombie approaching. The corpse had the appearance of a samurai, a single sword resting on its hip, and the zombie’s eyes were hollow as it hummed a song, stopping several feet from Brook.

~ 

Brook drew his sword. “Then … are you my shadow?”

~ 

The battle made a poor show with Brook’s clumsy, unpracticed swordsmanship, and he found himself on the ground, Ryuma threatening him with his sword.

“Say, Ryuma-san, that sword looks familiar,” Brook remarked, eyeing the blade. “I think … Zoro-san had one just like it, didn’t he?”

“Pathetic,” Ryuma said, ignoring this. He moved the sword closer to Brook’s hair. “Before I cut off your head, I think I’ll take off this fine afro as a trophy.”

Brook faced his zombie, his sword dangling at his side while his opponent’s rested at the ready.

~ 

Ryuma readied his sword with a dusty laugh. “Is that so? I hope you’ve improved since last time. I would like a challenge.”

~ 

“Yes.” Brook readied his sword again. Any moment it could fall from his unpracticed fingers.

~ 

They watched Zoro’s battle with Ryuma from their safe distance. Had Brook had any eyes, they would have been following Zoro’s every move best they could, for Zoro was so quick his movements were hard to track. How did his ability come so naturally to him? How, after what had felt like hours of practice, was Brook not even able to break a stick with his sword? For these Brook had no answer, but perhaps his collection did, for he felt them warm in his pocket when the battle ended and Ryuma fell at last.

We’re Here Together 

“Zo//san, that was amazing!” Luffy exclaimed, jumping up and down and staring at San//zo’s face. “I bet you could do really cool things with a sword!”

~ 

“Let’s go,” he said. He drew his two long swords with two arms for each one, and he and San//lu marched to the Franky House.

~ 

“Right,” his companion said, resting his two swords over his shoulders, careful not to catch them on his antlers.

~ 

“Who’s there?” Zoro said. “Never mind that. Shut up and gimme a sword.”

“I could pull you out!”

“I’m pretty stuck! Just get me a sword!”

“Okay, hold on, hold on!” Cho//mi changed form. They were now quite a bit taller, standing on two legs. Their antlers had disappeared (the hat, of course, remained) and they now had four humanoid arms, sticking out of Nami’s shirt (Chopper’s shorts covered the bottom), which they used to reach into the chimney and wrestle with Zoro’s swords.

Your Princess Is in Another Castle 

“So are you going to give back the money or not?” Nami demanded, poking the masked thief with her Clima Tact again. Brook held his sword tip close to the person’s ear.

~ 

“Gentlemen, if you’ve threatened this young lady in any way, I’m afraid we’ll have to punish you,” Brook added, drawing his sword.

~ 

“Oh, that’s not necessary,” Brook said, sheathing his sword.

~

Stillwater - Chapter 5

I ducked the Baroque Works employee that charged at me, causing him to run right over the railing of the ship. He held onto the railing, keeping him from falling into the water. I brought my foot down on top of his fingers, causing him to cry out in pain and release his hold.

Another one rushed me. I dropped to my back on the deck and pushed of the balusters, between the woman’s legs.

Naturally, when I arrived back at the Merry, there were a number of Baroque Works goons waiting for me. Instead of stealing out supplies like I had anticipated, they were attempting to take the ship itself. They were all pretty beat up looking, and they all looked scared out of their minds. Clearly they were running from someone. The question was who.

If they were running from us, then attempting to steal our ship was the dumbest possible decision.

It could’ve had something to do with their company. Consequences for their failure, maybe? Based on what I had seen, it made the most sense. Their fear was beyond that of a pay cut though. It was as if their lives depending on it, which I guessed was the case.

A loud boom came from the town.

“What the hell was that?” I wondered out loud, looking over my shoulder. A cloud of smoke and dust rose up from the middle of the town.

My distraction gave my opponents an opportunity, and one of them shot me in the leg.

“Damn it!” I swore, putting my hand on the wound.

The explosion seemed to frenzy the idiots on the ship. They attacked with renewed vigor. They were weak and sloppy.

By this point, the deck was no longer as crowded as it had been before. When I first showed up, the deck had been full of people. There was no way for them to sail comfortable, but discomfort was better than death.

I had thinned it out, so now there was room to move.

I grabbed the nearest Baroque Works employee and used him as a shield, ducking behind the mast. He had a scarf wrapped around his head, which I used to choke him out, before using it as a tourniquet.

Zoro and the others were going to have to get back here without my help. I knew they didn’t need it, but I liked to think that it was at least nice enough to have the option.

I pulled myself up, only to be grabbed from behind by a large man.  Another one launched a knife at me.

I ducked my head down as low as I could.

The knife flew through the air like an arrow, launched from a bow. It hit the man, holding me, slicing his forehead, clattering down his face, scratching his eye.

I got out of his grasp, and spun him around over the railing.

The guy threw another knife. I caught this one, before it could hit me. “Going for the head is stupid. You need to aim for a softer part of the body,” I lectured. “One that you can actually pierce.”

With a flick of my wrist, I sent the knife flying at the man.

“Unless of course, you can pierce the skull.”

The knife hit him in the center of his forehead, crunching as it slid through the bone, stopping only once the hilt was touching the skin there.

He fell back onto the deck with a thump.

“We’re just trying to survive,” one woman said, as she fired a blunderbuss at me.

“Ah shit,” I swore, diving out of the way. I hated those damn guns. You could load them with literally anything and it would still fire. This lady’s choice seemed to be glass.

“Do you know how annoying this is gonna be to clean up?” I yelled, ducking around the mast again. I dodged a man, who attempted to clothes line me. I grabbed him, spinning him around and slamming him against the mast. I cranked back and head butted him, knocking him unconscious. I threw the guy at the lady. He was significantly larger than her so she was trapped underneath him.

I grabbed the gun and knocked her out with the butt end of it.

There were more explosions, buildings fallings and crashing, clouds of smoke, dust and debris rising into the air off in the distance.

‘What the hell is going on?’

I finished off the rest of them quickly, throwing them overboard. I then hobbled inside to take care of my leg. It looked like I was gonna have to keep watch over the Merry, until the others came back and that was going to be a lot easier to do without a bullet in my thigh.

By no means was I a doctor. I knew how to take care of common illnesses. I had younger siblings I took care of. I could handle the flu and runny noses.  I could take care of scrapes, bruises and bloody noses, and I could stitch up wounds

Removing bullets wasn’t exactly something I had ever had to do before. I didn’t get into many fights outside of the ones with my father, and he didn’t need a gun. A few pirates had come to my island and shot at me, but I easily avoided it.

Now that I was thinking about it, I was sure that this was the first time that I had actually been shot.

The adrenaline was wearing off, and I was really feeling that stupid bullet. Was it the worst thing I had ever felt? No. Nowhere near it, but it wasn’t pleasant. I grabbed a clean rag and applied it to the wound, holding pressure.

I just had to pull that stupid bullet out, clean it, and stitch it up. That was it. Simple. I could do that.

A large explosion, sounded off, and the resulting shockwave from the blast rocked the Merry.

I tightened the scarf around my leg and stood up, hobbling over to the door. The sky on the other side of the island was alive with flashes of red and yellow. This explosion had easily been twenty times stronger than the ones I had heard earlier.

I could still feel the radiant warmth that was Luffy, so I knew he was alright. Since it wasn’t in town, I figured that Nami, Sanji and Usopp were in the clear too.

Then there was Zoro. I was pretty sure that death could take Zoro unless Zoro let him.

My thoughts were confirmed, when I felt that cursed sword of his nearing the Merry.

I hobbled on deck and pulled the lines in.

The first one to make it wasn’t any of my crewmates however. It was Wednesday’s duck.

“I don’t have time for you,” I told it.

It quacked indignantly.

Zoro jumped on deck. “Watch yourself!” I warned. “There’s glass everywhere.”

“We’ll worry about that later. We have to get out of here.”

“And the duck?”

“He’s fine. We have to hurry.”

I nodded.  Okay then...“Pull the anchor. I already got the lines.”

Zoro went and hoisted up the anchor.

“Hey! I got 'em!” Luffy yelled. I peered over the railing. Luffy has drug Sanji and Usopp back to the Merry, by their leg and nose respectively.

“Good! Bring them up.”

Both were out.

“What? They’re still asleep?”

“Luffy, you knocked them out,” I explained.

Zoro groaned in irritation.

Nami was next with Wednesday in tow.

“We don’t have time to look for him!” Nami yelled.

“What’s she doing here?” I asked.

“Long story,” Zoro said. “What happened to your leg?”

“Equally long story.”

“I’m not going to just leave him here,” Wednesday wailed.

“But listen-“

“What’s the problem?” Zoro asked.

“Apparently, her duck’s gone missing, and now she’s refusing to leave without it.”

“You mean this duck?” Zoro pointed to the bird standing beside him.

“He’s here?!” both Wednesday and Nami exclaimed.

“Made it here before I did.”

That spawned both to move. “There’s a tributary right up this river. If we take it, we can get out to sea faster.”

Luffy threw both Usopp and Sanji on deck.

“Zoro catch them!” I barked out.

The swordsman, managed to get both, before they could land on the glass.

Luffy hopped up after.

“Whoa! What happened here?” he asked, seeing all the glass, blood and bullets.

“They tried to steal the Merry.”

“Mira, take the helm,” Nami ordered.

I headed back inside and manned the steering pole, gritting my teeth against the pain in my leg.

I caught bits and pieces of the conversations from outside. Baroque Works was after us, and they could potentially send thousands of people to hunt us down. Lovely.

I could catch up on that later. The best thing I heard was the sound of Sanji and Usopp’s yelling.

“Sanji!” I called.

“Yes, Mira, my dearest?” he said, practically floating into the room with hearts in his eyes. He quickly went to serious Sanji, when he saw my leg. “You’re injured.”

“Recurring theme in my life. I need you to do me a favor. Go grab the sewing kit, the strongest alcohol we have on board, and a clean rag.”

“Got it.”

I hobbled over and put some water on to stove to boil. He brought me the stuff I had asked for. I dipped the needle in the boiling water, and then sat down, stretching my leg out on the bench in front of me.

“Give me your belt.”

“What?”

“Give me the belt, Sanji.”

Sanji did as I asked taking his belt off and handing it to me. I used it to tourniquet my leg, better than the rag I had used earlier. I took a deep breath and went in, pulling the slug out of my thigh.

I had a high threshold for pain. That didn’t mean that it felt any better. It wasn’t that things didn’t hurt. No this hurt just as bad for me as it would for anyone else. All that meant was that I could take a lot of pain, before it overtook me and I collapsed.

Sanji stayed there, holding my leg straight to keep me from thrashing. Once the bullet was out, he put a clean rag on it and held pressure. It didn’t take long for the bleeding to stop, thankfully. I cleaned the wound with the alcohol.

I went to stitch it up, but Sanji stopped me.

“Here. I’ll get it. You’ve got that gash in your hand.”

“Can you sew?” I asked.

“I’ve trussed a bird.”

“Not the same,” I sighed. “Alright, listen up this is what you have to do.”

I talked Sanji through the process, while cleaning up my hand and wrapping it.

We couldn’t properly bandage it. My pant leg was in the way. I was gonna have to wait until we hit the sea and then have Nami help me.

“I got to say, you’re one tough lady, Mira,” Sanji said, standing up and washing his hands.

“Not very many people could dig a bullet out of their leg.”

“Go check with Nami, see if we’re still on course, if not then I-“

“Just stay there. If we’re off course, I’ll steer. I still have to figure what’s going on, anyways.”

Sanji disappeared out onto the deck, shutting the door behind him. Despite the closed door, I could still hear everyone on deck.

I carefully scooted, so that I was lying down on the length of the bench. I needed a bath. The deck still needed cleaned. I now had to clean up the mess that I had made in here. I was gonna need more pants, since these one were ruined. I could path the hole easily enough, but wasn’t sure about getting the blood stain out. I could probably manage, but I wasn’t positive.

I was going through my list of chores in my head, half listening to everyone on deck. We were almost at the end of the tributary, almost out to sea.

“Finally, it’s getting light out,” Nami said sighing in relief.

I glanced out the window. It was foggy and grey, but brighter thanks to day break. It also meant that it was nearing twenty-four hours, since I had last slept. I closed my eyes, starting to feel sleep pulling me under, when I heard a new voice.

“I’m just glad we got away from the people, who were chasing us.”

“That’s for sure,” Nami agreed.

Had I missed them bringing another person on board?

“With all this fog, we need to be careful to avoid the rocks.”

“Don’t worry. I got it-“ Nami paused.

“This ship is nice,” the voice said.

I heard the others, gasp. They must’ve noticed the person. Clearly, this was an uninvited visitor.

“It’s you!” Wednesday cried.

“I just happened to run into your dear Mr.8 a little ways back. He didn’t look so good.”

“So you killed Igaram,” Wednesday said.

I still had no clue what was really going on. Wednesday was with us. The mayor guy was dead. There was some mystery woman on the ship. I would’ve been lost even if I was perfectly fine.

I was really hoping that this wasn’t going to be an ongoing thing. Broken ribs and bullet wounds, keeping me down. At least this would heal quickly. Actually I was lucky that the bullet hadn’t already gotten stuck in my leg, healed over. That would’ve terrible to get out, having to cut through the flesh to pull it out. Being as tired as I was was actually proving to be a blessing.

“You! What are you doing on my ship and how did you get here? Who are you?” Luffy yelled.

“Answer him! What are you doing here, Ms. All-Sunday?”

“So you know who she is? Which of number guys is she partnered with?”

“Her partner is Mr.0, the boss.”

“Crocodile’s her partner?”

‘As in the war lord?’ I wondered. I shook my head. I would get answers later.

“She’s a bad guy?” Luffy questioned.

“She was the only one, who knew the boss’s identity. That’s how we found out, who he actually is by following her back to him,” Wednesday explained.

“To be accurate, I allowed it,” Ms. All-Sunday, amended.

“So she’s a good guy then?”

“I know you knew we were there. You were the one, who told the boss what we knew, weren’t you?”

“That’s right,” Ms. All-Sunday confirmed.

“So she’s a bad guy?”

“Luffy will you cut it out already,” Zoro snipped.

“You still haven’t told us what it is you’re doing here.”

“Oh right. You were just so serious about the whole thing I couldn’t help myself. A princess doing whatever it takes to help her country, making her an enemy of Baroque Works. The idea just so ridiculous.”

That set Wednesday off.

I sat up, looking out the window, seeing a woman sitting on the railing outside the door.

Everyone reacted to Wednesday’s outburst. Zoro went for his swords, Nami her staff. Luffy took a fighting stance. Both Usopp and Sanji stood beside her, Usopp aiming his slingshot and Sanji a gun.

“I would really appreciate, if you stopped pointing those at me,” Ms. All-Sunday said.

Sanji and Usopp were thrown to the ground. Nami’s staff was knocked out of her hands, as were Zoro’s sword from his.

“A devil fruit,” Zoro growled out.

“But which one? What’s her power?”

“There’s no need to get all excited. You can all calm down; I haven’t been given any orders to follow you. I have no reason to fight you.”

She managed to pluck Luffy’s hat from his head.

I forced myself up, pushing the blurriness at the edge of my consciousness away.

Fog wasn’t ideal, like say rain or a lake. It took a whole lot of fog, to produce a little bit of water. That being said the fog outside was thick and went on for miles. I had a lot to work with.

I pushed open the door, appearing behind Ms. All-Sunday.

The fog in the immediate area had condensed into droplets, hovering in the air, twitching with anticipation.  Some of the droplets came together, jetting towards the hat on top of Ms. All-Sunday’s knocking it back into Luffy’s head.

Everyone looked around, startled save for the woman sitting on the banister in front of me.

“If you don’t have orders to be here, then why are you?” I asked.

“What’s this? You can control water. That’s a neat little trick,” she said, looking over her shoulder at me.

I had never met the woman in front of me before, but I knew her face. Those eyes bright blue eyes, held the same loneliness and pain in their depths now as they did, when she was a child. The papers didn’t do it justice. Seeing it in real life, I almost wanted to pity her.

Almost.

“I’m starting to run out of patience. Everyone wants to know why you’re here. Answer them, before I fire these droplets at you at high pressure, shredding your skin.”

For emphasis, I let one loose. It flew past her, leaving a cut on the exposed skin on her thigh.

“Why not drown me in my own lungs?” she asked.

I narrowed my eyes. It was obvious that she liked to play games, but I wasn’t the one to do it with. “Because, Demon Child, then I’d be doing you a favor.”

There was a second, where her whole body tensed.

I held back the smug feeling within me. I had rattled her.

She played it cool though, running into her explanation as if I hadn’t spoken. “I’m here because of your bad luck. Picking up a princess, who Baroque Works has already determined needs to be eliminated, protected by a measly handful of pirates.” She scoffed. “But your luck gets even worse, because of the direction your log pose is indicating. You see?”

Nami glanced at the log pose, worried.

“The name of the next island is Little Garden. We won’t even need to lift a finger.  You’ll all be dead, long before you reach Alabasta. You don’t think it’s a little foolish, allowing yourselves to be wiped out?” she asked, throwing something at Wednesday.

“An eternal pose?”

“Using that, you can skip right past Little Garden without stopping, straight to an island near Alabasta. The pose points to a places known as Nani mo Nai Shima. None of our agents know that course, so you won’t be followed.”

“What? So she’s good after all?”

“Why are you giving this to us?” Wednesday asked.

“It’s part of her game.”

“It’s got to be a trap,” Zoro accused.

“Oh does it?” she shot back.

Wednesday seemed conflicted, but it didn’t matter.

Luffy was having none of it. “Forget your thingy. We don’t need it.” Luffy marched forward and grabbed the eternal pose, crushing it with his bare hand.

Nami kicked him, knocking him back onto the deck. “JERK! She just went out of her way to show us an easier course to follow! Maybe she actually is trying to help us get away!”

Luffy glared up at Ms. All-Sunday. “You aren’t the one, who decides where this ship goes.”

I smirked at Luffy.

“Well that’s too bad,” she lamented.

Nami was still screaming at Luffy.

“She blew up that funny old man, and he was nice, so now I hate her.”

It was such simple logic, but that’s what made it so strong, so easy for him to abide by. There were no shades of grey to be considered. There was good and bad, and she was bad.

“I’m sorry to hear that, and I’m sorry that you didn’t except my offer. If you survive, I hope that we’ll meet again.”

“No,” Luffy said childishly.

“Meetings with you usually don’t end well for the other party,” I pointed out.

She narrowed her eyes at me, but said nothing.

I knew I had struck a nerve with her, and later it would probably come back to bite me, but for now I had one up on her.

She jumped off of the Merry and onto a giant turtle.

We watched her retreat, letting out sighs of relief only once she was out of sight.

Wednesday collapsed to the ground. “That woman. I don’t even have the slightest idea what’s going through her head.”

“Then there’s no use in thinking about it, is there?” Nami pointed out.

“There’s someone on this boat, who’s just like that.”

I chuckled at Zoro.

“Someone please tell me what’s going on!” Usopp demanded.

“Oh Ms. Wednesday did you join our crew?”

I waved my hand around, the water in the air coming together into one large blob. I used it to rise off the floor inside and the deck out. I rinsed off the desk, sending the bloody, glass filled water into the ocean.

Once that mess I was taken care of I felt a lot better.

“So that’s you’re devil fruit huh?” Nami asked.

I nodded, leaning heavily against the door frame.

“That’s so cool!” Luffy screamed, at me. “Mira can you make a fountain? Oh wait no-“

Usopp and Luffy started bombarding me with questions, but Zoro cut them off.

“Guys, let Mira go to bed. She’s been up for nearly twenty-four hours.”

“And she got shot,” Sanji added.

I yawned. “I need a bath.”

“And that wound needs wrapped,” Nami noted. “Come on,” she said, coming up and supporting my weight for me. “I’ll help you.”

“Thanks Nami.”

“Oh my! My beautiful, Nami, and dearest, Mira, bath-“

Nami just rolled her eyes and sneered at him. “Pervert.”

Sanji acted as if Nami had shot her.

I snorted in response.
