WIP (not) Wednesday
Thank you to @pinayelf , @dreadfutures , @blarrghe and @theluckywizard for tagging me! (You're all tagged back for next week) I had to work last weekend and I got caught in a wild reference hunting, but... It's all Whale AU/ an original story, I hope you won't mind!
Tumblr media
1) Going on with costume designs for Aisling, this time we're going regional! After a long and difficult research, I can affirm that this is the traditional dress of Alghero, Sardinia, where her mother comes from and she grew up in this iteration. Sardinian traditional clothes are absolutely gorgeous and I wanted to draw her in one... But Alghero Is a minority, and things are quite different. First by the fact that I actually struggled to fact check this outfit. I'm still only sure it's geographically appropriate, but not time appropriate (the story is set in 1907). All I can tell you about it is that it may have more influences from Barcelona than from Sardinia, and that a necklace is made of coral, which is very typical of the town.
2) A master study which will serve as a banner? Aisling and Raina having a picnic on the beach. They're eating papassini, typical biscuits made with raisins and glazed with sugar, Aisling is reviewing for an upcoming job interview with a very special professor. I drew the landscape on memory alone, I tried to look for references but I wasn't lucky. Hopefully I've been there so many times growing up that I still have a plausible image.
... I talked for eight years, sorry, I'm happy of this project ahahahah and about learning more about a place I've spent so much time into.
It's late for tagging, isn't it? Going with people I don't feel bad in pestering: @salsedinepicta @ndostairlyrium @shivunin @melisusthewee

Clavell is Just Paldean Zinzolin & Kalos DLC
Tumblr media
Zinzolin is just Paldean Clavell. The things that have been seen cannot be unseen!
I hope I am not the only one to notice this, but Clavell is just Zinzolin's Paldean variant! The two have the same hair colour as they age, the same defined cheek bones, the same hairstyle with the middle part, and the same goatees. The only differences are that Clavell's eyebrows are darker while Zinzolin's are white; conversely, Zinzolin's goatee is darker while Clavell's is white.
Tumblr media
Here is a close-up photo of Zinzolin without his funny hat from the Pokémon Generations episode "The Uprising" which can be watched on YouTube. The hair and face are pretty similar!
Tumblr media
Before anyone says anything: I know this is a wig. This is a reach on my part but if the man, the myth, the legend, Clive, who is 100% not Clavell chose this wig based on the hair colour or style he had when he was younger, than that's another similarity between the two guys. This very well could be some random Poké-Party City wig he just happens to own; if it is, I will gladly take the L.
Tumblr media
If Clavell did have that colour of hair when he was younger, Zinzolin has the same dirty blond colour in his original sprite for Pokémon Black & White (on the right); the hair of his sprite has a lighter tint two years later during the events of Black 2 & White 2 (on the left) as he ages and it eventually becomes white like Clavell's.
Tumblr media
This is not the best photo, but it does show the same tint of colour and style as the sprite, minus the goatee (even if he has one in the sprites!) The exposure from the lighting makes it harder to see... This photo comes from a Pokémon Evolutions episode that can be found on YouTube in which Ghetsis recruits N and has the coronation from the cut-scene at the start of the B/W games.
One thing Pokémon likes to do is use physical character designs and names as a way to show kind of relationship between characters. The most obvious canon examples of this are in Pokémon Legends Arceus where Cyllene is just a gender-bent Cyrus and Arezu (Ares) is just Mars in a hoodie using the Greek name for the same planet.
Tumblr media
Zinzolin's name refers to a reddish-purple shade in French. The Japanese name Vio is also meant to originate from the French word for Violet.
Tumblr media
Clavell's name comes from the Spanish/Catalan words for "carnation," and "clove." Another reach on my part, but Zinzolin's name means a violet colour. Clavell's name refers to carnations, which are red.
Look! It's Scarlet and Violet!
Zinzolin is part of the Seven Sages, a bunch of guys Ghetsis rounded up to LARP with from all over the world. The fact that Zinzolin's name is meant to originate from the French word for Violet could suggest Ghetsis brought him over from Kalos or Paldea while he was looking for like-minded individuals to dress up and go on D&D campaigns with. A tweet from Matsumiya in 2012 clarifies that Zinzolin's name was meant to originate from the French word for Violet, but it didn't quite carry over into English translations of the game since these two words are spelt the same in English and in French...
Tumblr media
Regardless! An attempt was made and I am going with it as a possible indication that Zinzolin is somehow tied to Poké-France/Kalos.
What does any of this have to do with the potential DLC for Scarlet & Violet?
Everyone and their sister is guessing that the DLC will involve some return to Kalos. The signs are all there with the mountains at the edge of the map that Koraidon/Miraidon won't grip (yet) but are clearly there. There is a whole portion of the map hashed out like Area Zero is on the top-right where Kalos would be if we're applying real geography to the fictional regions. Many theorists and fans have their reasons as to why there might be Kalos DLC. I for one hope this is true because Pokémon Y was a missed opportunity and she deserves justice!
Paldea is gently caressing the borders of South-Western Kalos. Any relation between Clavell and Zinzolin could be possible if Zinzolin comes from Kalos or moved to Paldea at some point.
Tumblr media
Zinzolin's team from Poképédia
One last thing to note is that Zinzolin even uses pokémon that can also be found around Glaseado Mountain in Paldea; Cryogonal can be found around the peaks, and Sneaslers/Weaviles tend to spawn around that snowy area of region. These pokémon are also found in Unova and he could have just as easily found them around there, but the coincidence still stands that Zinzolin has pokémon with him that can also be found chilling in the mountain range that borders Paldea and Kalos. I'm guessing that this range is meant to be similar to the Pyrenées, which function as a natural "divider" between the two actual countries of Spain and France.
Even if I am the only one to notice these similarities between Zinzolin and Clavell, I wanted to share them anyway. I thought it would be cool if they were somehow related when their physical features are similar and their naming schemes have parallels to Scarlet and Violet. It felt interesting enough to write out, so here it is! If someone else thought the same, I am glad I'm not the only one!
Originality is dead so if this looks like something someone else has mentioned or theorised at some point, it is not "copying" or "stealing" by any means. The wonderful thing about theories and speculations for lore and characters is that many people can come to the same conclusion about things if enough clues point them in a certain direction.
No single person can act like they own a theory for a game when the fanbase is so vast, and so many people love to look deeper into the story or characters like this. There's a high chance that many people will think or see the same things and that's partly what makes sharing theories or thoughts so fun!
The same can be said of official images or artwork for the games: no tumblr user has exclusive rights to post these if they are available to public! You can't "own" them unless you designed the character yourself, or were on the development team for the game. You can find all of the above images on Bulbapedia and I linked the Pokémon episodes I referred to for your viewing pleasure!

Poll shows lower support for Catalan independence
Support among Catalan residents for the hypothetical future independence of Catalonia from the rest of Spain has fallen to 40 per cent, a record low, while 53 per cent oppose independence, an official poll conducted on Thursday showed, Euractiv reports.
The poll, conducted by Catalonia’s regional government (Generalitat), is the lowest level of support for independence since 2015, when the first such official poll was conducted. The poll, conducted by the Generalitat’s Centre for Public Opinion Research (CEO), included 2,000 interviews between June 10 – the day before the controversial amnesty law that pardoned some 300 Catalan separatists involved in illegal acts committed between 2011 and 2023 came into force – and July 8.
Compared to the previous such poll, the proportion of Catalan residents who support independence fell by two points. Opponents of independence rose by two points to a record high, with the biggest difference in favour of independence compared to 2015: 13 points.
In terms of support or rejection depending on political ideology, the “yes” to independence is overwhelmingly favoured by voters of the right-wing separatist party Together for Catalonia (JxCat), led by former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont, with 91%. It is followed by the left-wing separatist platform Candidatura de Unidad Popular (CUP) with 80 per cent, the left-wing separatist party Republican Left of Catalonia (ERC) with 75 per cent and the far-right separatist formation Aliança Catalana with 56 per cent.
On the other hand, the anti-independence parties are mostly left-wing. The left-wing Catalunya en Comú party tops the list of those who reject such a possibility with 62%, followed by the abstention group (62%), the voters of the Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSC/S&D), which won the extraordinary regional elections on May 12, with 80%. Meanwhile, the far-right VOX party opposes Catalan independence with 90 %, and the centre-right Partido Popular (PP/EPP), the main opposition in parliament to the progressive coalition government of the PSOE and Sumar (Left), with 96 %.
Asked what the relationship between Catalonia and the Spanish state should be, 34% of respondents said they would prefer Catalonia to be an autonomous community (as it is now), 31% an independent state, 22% a state within a federal Spain, and 7% a region of Spain, the poll showed.

Your headcanons about Frain 🥺🥺🥺
Oh, hi!
I'm sorry for taking soooo long to answer T_T I was very busy, plus, I didn't really know what to answer D: I either have no headcanons at all or they are too many and too specific, I needed time to clear my mind. I wrote so much I devided the answer in two parts, hope you don't mind. And I'm sorry if my answer is not what you're looking for, or if my hcs are too complex and/or repetitive, feel free to ask me anything, and sorry again for the long long wait :( Oh, and mind this is all kind of... from a Spanish perspective, I guess. In case you find it too "hispanocentric" or whatever, that's because I don't know French culture or history in enough depth to talk much about it.
Here we go :)
Most of the time they speak their own languages when they are together. Antonio has almost a native knowledge of French language, but he still struggles a bit with modern pronunciation of French, so he is embarrassed to speak it lest they think he comes from the 12th century XD (he learnt it in Medieval times, so it is old French pronunciation he learned, plus Medieval pronunciation was easier for Iberian Romance language speakers). France, having a somewhat lower level of Spanish, does however a really good job at mimicking Castilian accent, but he is too proud of his language to drop his thick French accent (he is perfectly capable of hiding his frenchness when interested, though XD). They also used to speak in Occitan (mostly during the Middle Ages), and they still do it from time to time, but not very often.  This is a language from southern France, but it has the same roots as other Spanish languages like Catalan and/or Valencian (and pronunciation wise is closer to Castilian and other Spanish and even Italian languages than it is to modern French). Actually, Occitan is also spoken in Spain in the Val d’Aran (Valle de Arán). Sometimes, though, they speak Latin.  It is not planned, it just happens, Latin is their "native" language after all.
Francis likes suits, dresses, and to keep up with fashion and I imagine he likes to see Antonio wearing the best suits (and take them off later), so he does buy him lot of clothing.  Antonio does like it and appreciate Francis' efforts, but at times he feels Francis over does it. He prefers to dress more simple and informal. He will spend a considerable amount of time taking care of his looks, but his style is just not as elaborate. He does have a good fashion sense when it comes to dates, important meetings, or work, but on the day to day basis, he just favours comfort over aesthetics (also, he's handsome enought to look good in a rubbish bag, so who cares XD). All in all, while at times slightly bothered by Francis messing with his wardrobe, Antonio actually likes it. I feel Francis also enjoys buying “other” types of clothing (maybe even female dresses, for either himself or Antonio) for… scientific research 👀. Carnival is probably Francis favourite time of the year, so many costumes to design, so many characters to portray, and so many kinky situations to enact XD
Francis really likes to cook and indulge Antonio, so he would be the one to cook more often, but from time to time Antonio likes to take over the kitchen, and Francis does certainly not complain. When they have guests, however, they both like to cook together. Francis also likes to treat Antonio to nice breakfast, but he particularly likes Spanish toasts with tomatoes and ham, so when he’s particularly feeling down or depressed it will be Antonio’s time to indulge him with breakfast in bed.
They visit each other a whole lot. They cannot really live together the whole year because, well, they are countries, so they have to stick to their territory most of the time, but they visit each other very frequently. They also tend to spend Christmas and New Year’s Eve together, though it is not always possible. Christmas would most probably be at Francis’ semi-luxurious apartment in Paris, having a calm dinner on Christmas eve and a nice lunch on Christmas day, chatting and softly making out in front of the chimney, while New Year’s eve would be at Antonio’s simpler but centric apartment in Madrid, so they can go out to Puerta del Sol and eat the 12 grapes and enjoy Madrid's nightlife.
They both have quite a handful of residence across their respective countries, but I imagine Francis to have this nice rustic home in the countryside where they often go for a couple of weeks in the springtime, before the weather gets too hot, to enjoy nature and the tranquillity it offers (here are quite a few images of what I imagine the aestehtic to be like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7). Whenever they have “family meetings” (I mean, Latin countries, with Portugal, Romania, Italy, etc.) in France specifically, they go to this place, to have lunch and dinner outside in the garden; enjoy the night talking about old times, telling anecdotes, playing card games, bickering about who has the best food, the best cheese (shaming France because half his people use butter instead of olive oil, roquefort vs cabrales competitions XD),art, etc., and just having a good time together. On the other hand, Antonio would have either some type of renovated cortijo (similar to this one in the video) in either Northern Andalucía or somewhere in Extremadura or Castilla la Mancha, with mountains nearby, natural pools, lakes, and/or rivers (here I made a post with some photos 😊) or some sort of Catalan masía (1 & 2). I think these are very nice and enchanting, almost romantic places to spend the warmest days of springtime before the heat waves hit hard. They do enjoy going to the beach during the warmest months of summer, so they definitely have a house in a rather secluded, not very well known spot to enjoy some privacy in either Valencia or the Balearic Island (though I think they are old enough to have visited pretty much all nice beaches in both countries XD).
When they have to organize some sort of party with many other nations as guests, Francis likes to do so in some of his modern and very luxurious palace, like the Château de Fontainebleau, the Château de Chambord, and on very special occasions even in the Château de Versailles. On the other hand, Antonio prefers either Galician pazos (1, 2 & 3), or medieval castles, which tend to be not has huge as modern royal palaces and a bit less voluptuous. I’m thinking of places such as the Castillo de Jarandilla de la Vera, Castillo de la Arguijuela, Castillo de Seguras or Castillo de Ampudias (some pictures here). Problem is, these old castles are where he keeps all his old stuff, not the paintings and jewels of the Spanish Monarchs, but his own, personal items and old sort of belongings from the days of yore, so he sometimes gets emotional about the past and Francis ends up having to comfort him about whatever got to him this time.
Going back to the ship XD While Antonio dislikes Francis’ arrogance, almost disdain, Francis dislikes Antonio’ stubbornness and the sulry behaviour he has at times. However, weirdly enough, both those things become a massive turn on when it comes to certain activities 👀. What they probably aren’t fully aware of is that Antonio also does come off as arrogant at times, and Francis can be pretty stubborn himself when things don’t go his way.
They enjoy each other company the most, so they don’t really need to do any specific activity to pass the time, just chatting while touching each other’s hands or shoulders from time to time makes them happy. However, they like to go out to dine quite often. They would usually also go out to cafés, take long walks in parks, and go to the theatre (for whatever reason, I think they really enjoy theatre, more so than watching films on tv or going to the cinema, maybe because the format reminds them of the good old days, plus Francis is very dramatic, so theatre kind of suits him, right? XD). They also enjoy reading, more so chivalric epic novels or romances, and sometimes one of them will read out loud while the other rests and enjoys the storytelling.
They LOVE practicing fencing. They are both pretty good at it (coughspainsbettercough), and it is probably the sport they enjoy the most (and the only sport Francis likes, other than horse riding lol).
Speaking of horses, Antonio was always pretty good with horses (since ancient times), so in the old days (they can't do it that often any more) they used to go horse riding in the forest, either just to entertain themselves with the ride, or to go somewhere private. During the Pactos de Familia they would have done this very very often. It was romantic, intimate and one of Antonio's favourite passtimes and a way for him to relax and forget his worries for a while.
If they were ever to live together they would definitely have a Great Pyrenees as a pet.
This is actually kind of canon. Spain really enjoys old things, particularly ships, maps AND weapons like swords, daggers, and so on. He does have a nice collection of those, but of course, so does France. From time to time, on very special occasions, Francis lets Antonio choose one weapon from his own personal collection, or maybe gift him a new exotic one, the fancier the merrier.
Francis does call Spain mon lapin. I know, I know, in the fandom it is usually England who gets called that way, but like, Spain supposedly means land of the rabbits. It really doesn't, the most accepted theory is that it mens "(is)land of the metalsmiths" or "(is)land where metals are forged", but for a long time they thought island abundant in rabbits was the real meaning. Probably the Romans thought so too, since in Roman coins we often find Spain being portrayed as a yong woman with a rabbit at her feet. Plus, it gives way to a lot of kinky jokes and pervert ideas, and Francis would definitely revel in the thought of Antonio as a bunny XD
Maybe a little bit out of topic, but for the Napoleon wars I always imagined their soundtrack to be Treachery from Bleach (seriously, the lyrics are... just perfect from Spain pov, they really are spot on, you can even infer there was an intimate relationship prior the treason, I just love this song, it would play in the moment of Antonio's realisation that Francis is... no good and he means no good treacherously XD). For this exact same historical period, from Antonio pov, I also like the song Le Bien qui fait Mal from the musical Mozart l'Opéra Rock 👀. And for like... every other time they were at war or betrayed each other (which almost became a constant in the modern era, tbh) I like the songs of Friend or Foe by t.A.T.u and Six Pieds Sous Terre from the musical Mozart l'Opéra Rock too (here the lyrics of the last song in English, though there's a mistake, it says "your vanity is not worth war", it does suit them, more so in the 18th and 19th century with the whole God is dead, but Antonio being still pretty religious). From Francis' perspective on the Napoelon wars, from the raise of the French Empire and its expansionism, to the moment everything starts to crumble and he finally realises Antonio really doesn't want to be with him (these guys really thought they were being nice, saving Spanish people from whatever, and that Spaniards would comply and submit to them, jajajaja XD) I really like the song Ego by Willy William. And sorry for bringing up the Peninsular war, couldn't help it, Madrid conmemorated a battle of the war of Independence just the past weekend XD
Last but not least 😉Love between nations is not easy. First, they have to put their people’s feelings and well-being first, and if the two nations are at war, or simply there’s no interest in a political union, a romantic relationship can be seen as dangerous or just unwanted. Thus, privacy is important. So there’s this street in Rhodes (Greece) called “The Street of the Knights”, in which there are seven inns where the knights of the Order of St. John would accomodate when in town. The inn of Provence (a French region now, back in the day it was a bit more complex, but still pretty much linked to the French nation) is connected by an arch bridge to the Inn of Spain, on the other side of the street. I guess these two thought the Inn of France was too big and too public (the headmaster of the Order was French, so it was the biggest one), and found it usefull and discreet to be able to meet "in secret" and go from one room to another without being seen (as if an arch bridge wasn't telling enough), so they put the Inn of Provence to good use.

Part 2
Ups, editting because I forgot what is probably the most important hc (just kidding). Antonio 100% calls Francis “gabacho”. He sometimes will also call him Francisco, or just Paco, only because he knows it annoys the living hell out of Francis. The reason to call him gabacho is not to bother him, though, it just comes natural to him to call Francis that way XD Of course, he doesn’t always call him that, but sometimes? Yes, he does. And yes, gabacho is a derogatory term for French people, but like all derogatory terms, you will only use it openly with people you are very familiar with, and feel confortable with. To be perfectly honest, that term is now more familiar and affectionate, rather than derogatory, but it of course depends on how you say it and the context in which you use it. Any way, affectionate or not, there’s just no way Antonio does not call Francis gabacho from time to time.

"Mista Guy, who's Nena?" Shylow asks, sitting on the stone wall as she watched him. She elaborates "I was delivering some potion orders for Auntie Shins, an' I saw Mista Frascona being talked to by this lady, and he seemed really uncomfortable, so I pretended he was my dad to make her go away, an' he called me Nena on accident."
She plops her chin in her hands "It sounded like a name. What happened to them?" She hopes she didn't upset the captain. He seemed kind of upset when it happened, but not an angry kind of upset, more like a pained kind of upset.
Guy gulps as, for once, he is actually pausing to think about how to answer this instead of his usual blurting out an impulsive nature--possibly because of the conditioning the term 'Nena' alone provided. Already memories of Guangzhou flooded--how he and the rest of the Crew had to be super cautious to avoid attracting unwanted attention, be it the Master, the local Chinese, or especially foreign European traders who may take personal issue of an expatriate Spaniard having a child with an African woman. In fact, what Guy muttered beneath his breath was a bit of Cantonese--the only Chinese language he has some familiarity with.
It's the 1700s Guangzhou again, except no, it's not. Guy rubs the back of his neck as he sighs, trying not to take it too personal in how to take this situation. Arcelia was not his daughter. She was Josep and Abena's. But he can't help but still feel the sting of loss as Arcelia's self-proclaimed favorite uncle.
Tumblr media
"It's not a name, per se. It's a term of endearment, like if your mother calls you 'baby' or 'baby girl' even if you're a grownup. And that's what it means in Catalan and Spanish: 'little girl' or 'baby girl'." Oh, G-d. If Shylow called the Captain both 'Papa' and 'Mister Frascona', then would surely caused additional pain for him. Well. Shylow is older right now than Arcelia was then. Guy trusts the girl with this information, seeing how she came forward to ask. He seats himself, taking in a breath to begin.
Tumblr media
"One time, a long time ago, the Captain and Abena had a kid. Her name was Arcelia, and she had very visible traits that indicated she had a white father and a black mother--black skin and blond hair. This was all the way back in the 1700s, which back then was very unsafe for mixed parents and their kids, especially white and black mixed marriages. And due to-" No. Leave the Master out of this. "....Due to such circumstances, we the Crew thought it'd be best to leave for China where everyone will not think twice of a mixed kid because the whole family would be that of foreigners. But even then, the place we went to still had Europeans coming in, so in public, Arcelia had to keep her hair hidden and never call her father 'Papa'--meaning she had to call him 'Mister Frascona' in front of strangers wherever she went.
Tumblr media
"So... that's... that's why the Captain acted the way he did. We-..." Guy had to pause a bit to recompose himself even though the events of the Razing was centuries ago. "....We lost her for good in a very dangerous event. She was eight years old." The way he says this, however, isn't just with a great sadness--but also fear. The same fear the Seven display whenever the topic of the Master comes to mind--a docile, kicked fear of slaves to a cruel master.

What on Earth is the Catalan Integral Cooperative?
To understand the CIC and what supposedly makes it a “post-capitalist” cooperative in more than ambition, Dafermos says that the “revolutionary activist” character of the cooperative is essential, as is an understanding of its “Open Cooperativism” philosophy, which distinguishes it from both conventional businesses and mainstream cooperatives. According to Dafermos, “the main objective of the CIC is nothing less than to build an alternative economy in Catalonia capable of satisfying the needs of the local community more effectively than the existing system, thereby creating the conditions for the transition to a post-capitalist mode of organization of social and economic life.” This mission is what, in my opinion, has lead to the complex organizational structure of various committees, self-employed members, exchange networks and autonomous initiatives, as members experiment with different facets of the economic and social transition from capitalism.
A traditional business-oriented worker cooperative would look at a market, search for a good or service that they could provide and build their business up from there, eventually expanding into other markets if possible. This is the “lean-startup” approach which currently dominates entrepreneurial circles in North America and elsewhere. The CIC takes this supposedly conventional wisdom, and does something entirely different, instead rapidly prototyping and supporting multiple, often wildly dissimilar business models (from hackerspaces to organic farms) and projects at the same time, with the goal of experimenting with and disrupting as many industries as possible and promoting open cooperativism within their sphere of influence.
The CIC ultimately aims to promote the development of a “Cooperative Public System” outside the official control of the Spanish and Catalan governments as well as the capitalist market. It seeks to transition systems such as Food, R&D, Education, Housing, Health Transportation and more to a commons-based management and ownership system.

Within two weeks of the total application of Libertarian Communism in Aragón, collectivized businesses became vacuums of empty stores and warehouses, creating a serious supply problem. The textile industry, the produce industry and in general, all light industry in Catalonia, also collectivized by the Anarchists, refused to accept the vouchers and other paper money given out by the “Committees” in Aragón. They demanded that they be paid in the coin of the Republic.
In reply the Committees of Aragón threatened the National Committee of the C.N.T. with cutting off the electric power that serviced the greater part of the industries of Catalonia, plus the central electrical system itself, if clothes and supplies were not sent to the “liberated areas.”
In reply to the gravity of this threat the National Committee of the C.N.T. ordered the Military Chief of the Anarchist forces in Aragón to execute the leaders of the Committees if they persisted in their attitude.
While the contradictions within the F.A.I./C.N.T. leadership grew ever sharper, the dominion which they continued to exercise over the peasantry of Aragón and Catalonia presented grave consequences for the war as a whole. Economically, these areas which had held such a wonderful potential for the Republic, were fast becoming wastelands. Politically, tens of thousands of peasants were losing all interest in the war; some had been actually forced into minor revolts against their persecutors.
In Catalonia the situation grew worse. At the end of August the Casanovas Government issued a decree that imposed the obligatory syndicalization of all peasants into one union---The Federación de Sindicatos Agricolas de Cataluña (F.E.S.A.C.).
[...] [T]he Catalan peasantry [...] were obligated to join the new syndicates where the selling of all crops would be regulated as well as all personal purchases. [The] syndicate would control the prices, security and credits. The system took from the peasants all the freedom to handle their own products, buying and selling, and in the long run, destroyed any stimulus to produce anything beyond their personal needs.
With an abysmal lack of knowledge of economic laws, the Anarchists also set out to reorganize Catalan industries, basing their concepts upon infantile solutions that had been declared “utopian” by all Marxists as early as the 19th century. Applied to the 20th century, only catastrophe could result.
[...]
A first result of the takeover was the refusal by the F.A.I. to recognize the priorities of the fronts---this, when the war against Fascism was a question of life and death for the whole of Spain. All stimulus was killed. “Equal” salaries were imposed for all categories; from engineers and technicians to the lowliest worker.
[...]
The Anarchists forgot, or never knew, the simple, elemental reality, that production is the decisive aspect of any active economy; if you do not produce there is nothing to distribute. They put down the problems of production, concentrating solely, in their demagoguery, upon their programs for “equal distribution.” In fact this highly touted “equality” didn’t apply either, since salaries differed from one factory to another. The workers collected according to the fortunes and the reserves of their particular factory, and were continually subjected to the caprices of the omnipotent Committees. When the reserves were spent the F.A.I. then went to the [central] State to ask that it subsidize the payrolls.
This process of applied egalitarianism went to such extremes that actors and entertainers collected the same as the cleaning woman in the theater. And if this sound[s] inspiring to “Women’s Liberation,” know this: equality stopped with the differentiation between the sexes. The F.A.I. maintained the principle that the wages of woman workers would continue to be inferior to those of men, though they did the same work.
In the name of “economic federalism” the Anarchists pushed a chaotic decentralization of industry, sowing confusion and disorder. There was no coordination of any kind. In not a few cases different factories of the same industry, those that would complement each other, fell into the hands of different committees. Economic relationships were destroyed and production suffered.
Goods generally produced were not the goods so desperately needed at the front, but rather that which could be sold quickest and with the highest margin of profit. Indeed an almost artificially created anxiety for increased benefits surged in many factories inflaming conflicts of interests between one factory and another, and one committee and another. [...]
Deprecating the absolutely desperate war needs of the country, the F.A.I. did little or nothing to create a meaningful war industry. The immense possibilities existing in this area were almost totally disavowed or ignored. One is reminded of the Chinese 8th Route Army and its “war industry” located in the caves of Yenan, where thousands of rifles were manufactured almost by hand during China’s long struggle against the Japanese and the Kuomintang. One is reminded too of the “arms industry” of the early Viet Minh located in the jungles of Vietnam, and producing excellent weapons with nothing but the will and the heart and the patience of a people intent on winning their fight against imperialism.
The industrial might of Catalonia, with a metallurgical and chemical industry equal to that of some of the most advanced countries, was sufficient to have provided all the small arms—rifles, machine guns, mortars and cartridges, plus all manner of artillery shells, that the Republic needed.
The Anarchists, who for the first critical year of the war, controlled this industry, and in effect sabotaged its potential for the war, will forever share the guilt along with the capitulationists and the defeatists, for the final Franco victory.
D. Santillán boasts that at the end of three months they were producing approximately 4,000 shells per month. This is at less than 150 per day; less than the total potential of any medium sized machine shop. He also boasts of 1,000 kilos of T.N.T. being produced per day, after one year, and 600,000 fuses for shells and grenades during that year. And this was done, he writes, with approximately 150,000 workers in the war industry. If his production figures reveal nothing more than the total waste of manpower here, one will have some idea of the tragedy of the Spanish Republic. Where were the rifles and the small arms so desperately needed? There is no mention anywhere of this kind of production in Catalonia. Any applied statistics will show that the zone was capable of producing these weapons in the tens, if not in the hundreds of thousands. But this was not done, so that in the end, when Catalonia fell, Álvarez del Vayo could say that the remnants of the Peoples Army in its retreat across the French frontier, had but 30,000 rifles to defend itself against a Franco army—in Catalonia alone—of over 350,000 men inclusive of five complete Italian divisions.
Absolving themselves of any guilt in the matter by simply hiding the facts from the world—and they had plenty of help in this—they then, in what can only be described as an act of supreme arrogance, denounced the Central Government of the Popular Front for not issuing Soviet arms to their units in Aragón—this, while the Madrid militia battalions were bleeding to death before the guns of the Army of Africa and the bombs of the Condor Legion; while Málaga fell, and while the Fascist onslaught in the valley of the Jarama and before Guadalajara was being desperately contained. “It is obvious,” they announced pontifically, and ignoring any vestige of reality, “that these arms are being given only to the Communist led units to enhance the prestige and power of the P.C.E.”

The Birth of Fauvism
A Study of Matisse’s The Young Sailor II
As I walked through the Metropolitan’s exhibition gallery of Greek and Roman art, through the great hallway showcasing pieces from Africa, Oceania, and the Americas, and into the Modern and Contemporary Art galleries, I realized that within the span of three short minutes I had experienced the fastest chronological and geographical exploration of art history. Hidden towards the far back of the museum is a group of rooms showcasing a collection named “Reimagining Modernism”. It houses the paintings of everyone from Picasso to Grünewald. The smallest of the rooms, 904, is quite unlike the rest. It doesn't have a bright vibrant wall on which the paintings have been mounted. While the other rooms have walls painted in a rich burgundy or deep royal blue, 904 is a pale grey room. Upon further inspection of its contents, I began to understand the reason for the choice of wall colour: Filled with extremely vibrant artwork by Matisse, Vlaminck, Picasso, and Derain (to name a few), it would have been an eyesore to make the walls equally as colourful. It would have even taken away from the paintings themselves. The largest, most multi-coloured, and therefore loudest of all the pieces is Matisse’s 1906 painting The Young Sailor II. At first glance, I responded in shock and to be honest, slight fear. Why would Matisse choose a bright pink background for his model who is already dressed in a jarring blue and green get-up? Well, upon further research I have discovered that these colour choices are what made Matisse stand out from his fellow modern artists.
The Young Sailor II is a fauvist portrait of a young fisherman named Germain Augustin Barthélémy Montargè from a small Catalan village called Collioure (Rewald, 89). Germain is seated on a wooden chair and his facial expressions are painted in a very cartoon-like manner (Fig. 1). Although much sharper than Matisse’s first version, there is still a lot of ambiguity that is heavily present. The only sense of differentiation between the body parts or pieces of clothing is through colour choice. The painting itself is a striking palette of green, blue, pink, and orange. The face of the model does have a few details however: The eyebrows are extremely exaggerated and I even sense a playful expression being presented. Sabine Rewald, curator of Modern Art at the Metropolitan Museum states that Germain’s “theatrical looks and his colourful costume, set against the pink, candy-coloured ground, combine to make this work one of Matisse’s most decorative portraits in the Fauve manner” (Rewald, 90). The model is dressed in some sort of a bright blue jacket, green pants with a checkered printed cuff, pink shoes, and a blue-green cap. Being that Matisse has not included any details of the garments, I find myself staring at the cuffs of the pants wondering if he intended them to be boots or checkered socks instead. This sort of confusion seems to be a common reaction to Matisse’s artwork: Julia Brucker, contributor at The Art Story, states that although Matisse’s artwork “was important in endorsing the value of decoration in modern art” the manner in which he paints with his colours is frequently disorienting to viewers (Brucker). This fauvist portrait does exactly that and I suppose it is what forced me to keep staring at it until I was completely hypnotised and enraptured by it.
Tumblr media
Matisse - Young Sailor II
“Fauve” was a word that kept appearing on the information plaques of 904’s paintings so I sought to discover the meaning behind this strange word. Synonymous to “grand félin féroce” or in English “wild cat”, “Fauvism” describes a movement in modern art where the artists  focused on personal expression through eccentric colour use (Wolf). The artists, or “Fauves” as they were known, included Henri Matisse himself, Albert Marquet, and Georges Henri Rouault. They were inspired by the artwork of Van Gogh, Gauguin, Seurat, and Cezanne and they concentrated on the use of vibrant colours: “Matisse emerged as the leader of the group, whose members shared the use of intense colour as a vehicle for describing light and space, and who redefined pure colour and form as means of communicating the artist's emotional state. In these regards, Fauvism proved to be an important precursor to Cubism and Expressionism as well as a touchstone for future modes of abstraction” (Wolf). Justin Wolf, from The Art History Contributors specifies three key ideas important to Fauvism: Firstly, the Fauves saw the significance of colour and the atmosphere it created. Colour was in fact autonomous to the painting itself. Secondly, the Fauves drew attention to the flatness of the canvas in order to create a sense of unification in the artwork. Lastly, the Fauves focused on depicting human expression and inner emotions. Being that Matisse excelled in these three modes of painting, he was considered to be the forerunner and pioneer of Fauvism: “Synthesizing all these ideas, Matisse turned away from using subtle hues of mixed paints and began working with bright colour, directly from the tube, as a means of conveying emotion. He had been working outdoors since the mid-1890s, and his travels to Corsica and the south of France in 1898 increased his interest in capturing the effect of strong natural light” (Wolf). Looking at the painting, I see exactly what Wolf is describing. There is very little shading or colour gradient in the piece. The jacket is a flat blue with a small number of purple stripes and the pants are a solid green just as the background is a solid pink. The brush strokes are visibly large but other than that there is no sense of texture being created.
However insignificant of a fact this may seem to us, to Matisse, it was very intentional: “Rather than using modelling or shading to lend volume and structure to his pictures, Matisse used contrasting areas of pure, unmodulated colour. These ideas continued to be important to him throughout his career” (Brucker). The reason Matisse did this is because he felt it permitted him to better communicate the model’s emotion and the emotion that is depicted in the painting is one that is quite peculiar. The young man seems to be posing in a “look how fabulous I am” manner with a particularly wily look on his face. What I began to wonder while I was sat on the wooden bench in 904 staring in beguilement at this piece is how much say Matisse had in the posture or expression of the model. According to Brucker, it’s highly possible that Matisse was in fact using the model as a medium in which he could portray his own feelings by “reducing them to ciphers in his monumental designs” (Brucker). This theory seems to be proven by Matisse himself - “Matisse, by way of Cezanne and impressionism, attempted to realize his emotion in front of the object. (Matisse frankly stated in an interview of 1912: ‘I do not literally paint that table, but the emotion that it produces upon me’)” (Bock-Weiss, Matisse, 58). So now, this painting gives us much more than just a depiction of a sailor in Collioure. It gives us insight on Matisse’s life during the summer of 1906. Matisse painted The Young Sailor II while on one of his travels to the Catalan region near the Spanish border. This small village of Collioure was a frequent vacation spot of his and is in fact the birthplace of Fauvism (Brucker). Germain, the model, was one of many fisherman from this small seaside village.
Tumblr media
Collioure, France (by journalistontherun.com)
But what exactly made Germain stand out from the eight hundred and ninety-nine other fishermen that lived in this village? According to Rewald, the Montargè family were unlike other Catalans: “Since Germain was six-feet tall and of athletic build – which is unusual for  Catalans – it is not surprising that he might have caught Matisse’s eye during one of the painter’s early morning strolls along the pier in Collioure’s harbour… Another characteristic that made Germain stand out in a crowd was his Slavic features. These are shared by the Montargè family … and are still referred to, by the people in Collioure, as ‘cet air primitif’ (‘that primitive look’)” (Rewald, 89). Prior to this painting, during the summer of 1905, Matisse produced many other works of art portraying Collioure: The Open Window, View of Collioure, and Landscape at Collioure are among Matisse’s most well-known fauvist paintings. He worked alongside Derain and together they developed and refined the fauvist style (Wolf). After four months in Collioure, Derain and Matisse set off for Paris to present their work at the Salon d'Automne.
Tumblr media
Matisse - Vue de Collioure
While Collioure proved to be the birthplace of the fauvist technique, the Salon d’Automne of 1905 is where the movement got its name: Louis Vauxcelles, an art critic who was inspecting the pieces at the exhibition used the phrase “Donatello parmi les fauves” in reaction to what he saw (Wolf). Translating to “Donatello among the wild beasts”, the word “Fauve” endured despite being disparaging. However slighting the reviews were, their portraits were bought by the likes of Leo and Gertrude Stein and Fauvism proved to be important to how colour was seen and used in the domain of modern art: “The Fauves liberated colour from any requirements other than those posed by the painting itself. "When I put a green," Matisse would say, "it is not grass. When I put a blue, it is not the sky." Art exerted its own reality. Colour was a tool of the painter's artistic intention and expression, uncircumscribed by imitation” (“Explore This Work - Henri Matisse, Open Window, Collioure”). What colour did was add meaning and context to the painting in a new and different way. Instead of asking why Matisse painted a sailor boy looking into the distance, we can now contemplate as to why the sailor boy’s ear is  orange while his right hand is pink and what Matisse is trying to communicate by doing this. Before Matisse and Derain, artists were compelled to paint a blue sky, a tan face, and a red flower. Now, the artist was free to paint a red sky, a blue face, and a tan flower. Fauvism, for the first time diminished the authority the object had over how it was painted and it consequently gave way to the more successful abstract movements such as Cubism and Expressionism.
Along with painters such as his rivals Picasso and Mondrian, Matisse re-invented the way in which art was produced. By the use of simplification and color as the sole subject of painting, Matisse had a considerable influence on art and future abstract artists, proving him to be a major figure during the twentieth century. Be it Cubism, Pointillism, or Fauvism, the art of painting went through some drastic experimentation during the early 20th century and Matisse was surely an important part of it.

FC Barcelona VS Athletic Bilbao, go for Barca
Match Time: 6/24/2020 04:00 Wednesday(GMT+8)
Spanish La Liga -- FC Barcelona VS Athletic Bilbao
Livescore | Match Prediction & Tips| Asian Handicap Odds|Line-ups& H2H Stats
-----------------------------------
Barcelona will be looking to return to winning ways in Spain's top flight when they welcome Athletic Bilbao to Camp Nou on Tuesday evening.  The reigning champions and current leaders were held to a goalless draw by Sevilla on Friday, while Athletic will enter the match off the back of a 1-0 victory over Real Betis on Saturday.
Match preview
Barca's lead at the top of the table currently stands at three points, but Real Madrid will have the chance to move level on points with the reigning champions when they face Real Sociedad on Sunday night.  Quique Setien's side have been in good form since returning to action on June 13, beating Mallorca and Leganes in back-to-back games before claiming a point at the Estadio Ramon last time out.  The games are coming thick and fast for Barca as they will face Athletic, Celta Vigo and Atletico Madrid before the end of the month, and it does not appear that Real Madrid's challenge is going to falter.  Barca have the best home record in La Liga this term, winning 14 of their 15 matches, remaining unbeaten in the process, and there is no question that they will be the favourites to triumph on Tuesday night.  Athletic recorded a 1-0 victory in the reverse match at San Mames earlier this season, though, and also picked up a point at Camp Nou last term. In fact, the Basque outfit are unbeaten in their last three league encounters with Barca, having also drawn their home league match with the Catalan giants during the 2018-19 season.
The visitors have picked up five points from their three matches since returning to action on June 14, following draws against Atletico Madrid and Eibar with a 1-0 success over Real Betis on Saturday night.  Inigo Martinez scored the only goal of the match as Gaizka Garitano's side triumphed at the weekend, and the victory moved them into ninth position in the table.  Athletic are currently 10 points off the top four but sit just six points behind fifth-placed Getafe at this stage, and there is no question that the club will have their eyes on a potential European spot.  The Basque outfit have struggled on their travels this season, though, picking up just two victories from their 15 away fixtures, which is a concern as they head to the side with the best home record in the division.

Team News
Barca will again be without the services of Ousmane Dembele due to a long-term hamstring injury, while Sergi Roberto is likely to miss out once again with a rib problem.  Frenkie de Jong should shake off a calf injury to start, though, and Setien is expected to shuffle his pack from the side that started Friday's clash at the Estadio Ramon.  Antoine Griezmann and Arthur both featured off the bench against Julen Lopetegui's side but could now be included in the starting XI, while Ansu Fati is also pushing for a spot in the team.  Luis Suarez played the full 90 minutes against Sevilla, but the Uruguay international could start on the bench against Athletic, having been out for an extended period following knee surgery.
As for Athletic, Yuri Berchiche is suspended due to the yellow card that he picked up against Betis last time out, which could open the door for Mikel Balenziaga to start at left-back.  The bulk of the XI that started at the weekend are expected to once again take to the field, although Mikel Vesga is pushing for a spot in the middle of the park.  Raul Garcia, Inaki Williams and Iker Muniain should all continue in the final third, while Inigo Cordoba is likely to keep his spot in a wide area.
Barcelona possible starting lineup: Ter Stegen; Semedo, Pique, Lenglet, Alba; Arthur, Busquets, De Jong; Griezmann, Messi, Fati
Athletic possible starting lineup: Simon; Capa, Nunez, Martinez, Balenziaga; D Garcia, Vesga; Cordoba, Muniain, Williams; R Garcia
FC Barcelona VS Athletic Bilbao
Pick: FC Barcelona to win

May 25, 2020: King Felipe held a videoconference with Manel Albiac Cruxent, President of the Consell de la Abogacía de Cataluña and President of the Tarragona Bar Association, who has transferred the analysis of reality from his area of competence. A major collapse is expected in the processing of judicial matters, either initial or pending. In Catalonia, when it was allowed to present briefs, which were later paralyzed when counting a term or term, in a single day, the number of documents presented increased by 400%. This was part of the videoconferences Don Felipe has maintained in recent weeks to analyze the effects of the pandemic from different professions linked to Justice.
Legal professionals are concerned that judicial reactivation is carried out effectively, without delay, and above all that all legal operators have the same degree of professional involvement. While there is a desire for a prompt judicial reactivation (the deadlines are reactivated on June 4) there is also a desire that this reactivation be carried out in a staggered manner without interruptions, guaranteeing the health of citizens and of the professionals themselves.
Due to the health alarm and the situation of uncertainty among the professionals, prophylactic material was supplied to the collegiate and collegiate members who were to provide the public service.
In the conversation, by videoconference, he was able to explain to the King both the impact of the health emergency on the Catalan judicial reality and the initiatives launched by the collegial organization of the legal profession.
In Manel Albiac's opinion, this pandemic will involve a deep professional selection and the group of lawyers cannot be oblivious to the consequences of the pandemic and must modernize and, consequently, adapt the provision of their professional services to the post-Covid times.
In Catalonia as a whole, assistance to detainees has been reduced by approximately 80%. The most frequent crimes during these weeks have been those related to public health and breaches of the confinement order.
It is worth highlighting the work of the Consell to implement videoconferences in assisting the detainee. It is about serving you remotely with the WEBEX application. This digital platform, used by the majority of the police forces, allows assistance to the detainee without physically moving to the police stations. Subsequently, once the jurisdictional activity has restarted, it will be optional for each investigating court to carry out the assistances the following day and other investigative procedures, through videoconference.
They are currently working on the dissemination of online training. Until now this was mostly face-to-face and its registration was processed electronically.
Since the Alarm Status was agreed, the Tarragona Bar Association has adopted the decision to keep its facilities at the Tarragona headquarters open, since it was committed to providing public services to assist the detainee and the Legal Guidance Service Penitentiary through videoconference.
During these months, economic measures have been implemented to mitigate the reduction in professional income, forgiving all the fees for the months of April and May and 50% of the college fees for the entire year 2020. Likewise, It has postponed the payment of 50% of the civil liability policy to June.
These economic measures, leading in Spain, have been possible thanks to the healthy situation of the College and the work of a team with the firm conviction of reverting to the member what is theirs, such as their contribution to the College in the form of a college fee. The School, after adopting these measures, maintains the same amount of existing own funds when the governing board took office in 2012.
The Consell, whose statutory name is the “Consell dels Il·lustres Col·legis d´Advocats de Catalunya”, was established in 1983 and is configured as the coordinating body of 14 bar associations in Catalonia, totaling 40,000 collegiate. The main function of the Consell is the management of the public service of the office shift, coordinating its development and execution by the various professional associations.
The Tarragona Bar Association has 1,364 members. It is a corporation under public law, privately managed, founded in 1845 and highly involved and rooted among the city's civil society.
The College is part of the so-called ICAT Foundation of the Legal Profession and the Tarragona Arbitration Court, of which, in both entities, its dean is the president. Currently, the Tarragona Bar Association is leading the organization of the Intercollegiate of professional colleges in the province of Tarragona, which brings together some 18,000 professionals from various fields.
Albiac has been dean of ICAT since 2013, as well as a member of the Council of Illustrious Bar Associations of Catalonia (Cicac) and of the General Council of Spanish Lawyers. And an authorized voice in the knowledge of the Catalan judicial reality.

The Most Innovative Things Happening With zcode system nba
From Ronaldo to De Jong: The significant transmissions that could still occur before the summer months home window shuts
Our company've currently viewed numerous high-profile transmissions this summer months, with Erling Haaland relocating to Manchester City as well as Robert Lewandowski signing up with Barcelona. Nonetheless, while the beginning of the brand new period is nearly upon our company, and managers regularly prefer to have their squads sorted long before their first installations, there are actually still a significant volume of massive titles still on the market place.
Definitely, as GOAL describes listed below, various best players can but make large actions just before the summer months home window shuts on September 1 ...
Frenkie de Jong
Among the summer months's longest-running move legends, Frenkie de Jong's suggested move to Manchester United may certainly not be actually finalized for some opportunity however-- if whatsoever. As recently stated by GOAL, Barcelona accepted a package worth a preliminary ₤ 63m ($ 74.5 m) with an additional ₤ 8m ($ 9.6 m) in additionals.
Nonetheless, De Jong continues to be locked in a conflict with the Catalan nightclub over postponed wages. He 'd also somewhat stay at Camp Nou and also Barca head of state Joan Laporta has urged that they are certainly not under financial stress to sell.
Still, offered De Jong is one of their very most valuable resources however will certainly not be a guaranteed starter next time, it promises that he will become reunited along with previous Ajax employer Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, with United ready to stand by as long as possible for the midfielder.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
Not a summertime goes through without Sergej Milinkovic-Savic being actually linked a minimum of as soon as along with either United or Juventus. This year, it's each.
Juve would seem to possess much less demand for the Lazio midfielder, offered https://zcodesystemestafa.com they've simply brought Paul Pogba back to Turin, but the Frenchman has now been actually dismissed for at the very least two months via personal injury.
Also, it's not as if Massimiliano Allegri could not give up yet another effective presence in midfield anyway. Juve need to have to get rid of some dead lumber-- canceling Aaron Ramsey's arrangement was actually a fine begin-- but they may be capable to put themselves in a placement to at the very least flirt.
When it comes to United, whatever hangs on De Jong. If the Dutchman remains at Barca-- or much worse, from United's perspective, signs up with Chelsea instead given that they may supply him Champions League soccer-- they might finally release a proposal for Milinkovic-Savic.
Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo has yet to play a pre-season activity for United for individual reasons but he is actually back at Old Trafford for crunch talks along with Ten Hag over his future.
Our team understand that Ronaldo yearns for out. The Portuguese possesses no purpose of losing out on a year of Champions League regulation football at this phase of his career. He is actually likewise made it crystal clear to his employers that he carries out not feel that United are actually capable of challenging for the Premier League title next time. Ronaldo has also recently handled to push his exit of a club right before the shut of the summer months home window, at Juventus final year.
Having said that, the issue this moment is a lack of interest in his services. The majority of Europe's elite have actually actually strengthened their foremost lines or even would battle to incorporate Ronaldo into their planned tactical plan.
10 Principles of Psychology You Can Use to Improve Your zcode system pronosticos mlb
It has been stated in the Spanish press that Real Madrid's everlasting leading scorer would certainly be willing to join their metropolitan area opponents, Atletico, however club head of state Enrique Cerezo says a transfer is actually "almost difficult".
United are actually working out without Ronaldo in pre-season, so it would certainly not be a surprise to observe him depart. He could possibly finish up staying placed, given the agonizing absence of alternatives on call to him.
Antony
Whether Ronaldo stays at Old Trafford or otherwise, Ten Hag is accurately desperately planning to be actually participated in at United through his past charge at Ajax, Antony.
Objective recognizes that United have presently had one bid of ₤ 51m ($ 61m) denied due to the Dutch edge, that are actually supporting out for ₤ 68m ($ 82m). That will be actually a massive fee for the 22-year-old yet he is a Brazil worldwide as well as one pictures that United will a minimum of want to improve their provide if Ronaldo belatedly locates a brand-new house.
Cesar Azpilicueta & Marcos Alonso
There is talk right now that Chelsea will definitely shut out any kind of efforts through Barca to sign both Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso, each of whom were actually assumed to swap west London for Catalunya this summer season, as a result of their worry at the method which the Blaugrana pirated their bid to sign Jules Kounde.
Regardless of splashing the cash money this summer, Barca are still being without in full-backs, so it is going to be actually intriguing to view if either Spain worldwide really winds up at Camp Nou.
Barca have, obviously, actually purchased former Chelsea guardian Andreas Christensen on a free of charge transmission yet the big difference listed here is that both Azpilicueta as well as Alonso still possess a year to operate on their respective deals, which certainly complicates matters provided the strain that right now exists in between both clubs. Keep in mind, Barca also defeated Chelsea to the signing of ex-Leeds winger Raphinha even with their valuable monetary circumstance.
Lucas Paqueta
Lucas Paqueta's much-hyped move from San Paolo to Hvac Milan carried out certainly not go depending on to planning. He did not prove themself to become 'the new Kaka'. He has fixed his credibility as one of Brazil's the majority of talented midfielders at Lyon as well as is right now being actually linked along with an additional big-money action, this time to Arsenal.
We recognize that Gunners technical supervisor Edu is actually a substantial admirer of Paqueta and also Lyon head of state Jean-Michel Aulas levels to perform an offer-- but merely at the best rate. Definitely, Aulas is going to likely demand leading buck for a player who still has actually two years left on his deal and is being dated through other nightclubs.
Bernardo Silva
Bernardo Silva desired to leave Manchester City final summer, and the group were actually willing to permit him go. The Portugal international had his soul set on a technique to Spain, with each Barcelona as well as Atletico Madrid fascinated.
The complication was that City weren't going to let him leave behind for just about anything lower than his market price, thus making him also costly for either Liga edge. That was just like effectively for City, obviously, provided Silva participated in an essential role in last season's Premier League title conquest.
Barca still view Bernardo as a dream finalizing and also the emotion is actually that if De Jong is actually offered to United, they'll have ample money to belatedly carry the attacking midfielder to Camp Nou.
Neymar
It may seem weird, offered our experts're speaking concerning two of the absolute most skilled gamers on earth, however Neymar resides in an incredibly identical circumstance to Ronaldo, because he is thinking a little undesirable at this moment.
Having devoted a huge volume of money to maintaining Kylian Mbappe, the indisputable leader of the brand-new project at the Parc des Princes, PSG have actually created it well-known that the would listen closely to deals for fellow ahead Neymar.
Nevertheless, few nightclubs, if any sort of, are actually presently in a placement to fit the Brazilian, either economically or tactically. The only variation to Ronaldo's circumstance at United is actually that Neymar in fact wishes to remain, as the Selecao superstar would certainly as if as handful of disturbances as achievable before the winter months World Cup in Qatar.
As a result, it will definitely be actually fascinating to observe what would certainly occur if one of Europe's nouveau riche-- Newcastle perhaps-- tabled a borderline-acceptable offer for Neymar prior to the shut of the transmission window.
Marc Cucurella
Even with remaining in property of an unlimited well of oil cash, Manchester City have been actually incapable to address their long-lasting trouble at left-back. Credit Rating to Pep Guardiola, he's dealt with to change midfielders in to appropriate stop-gaps, while Joao Cancelo has proven himself a wonderfully versatile gamer with the ability of participating in on either side of the back four.
Area's hunt for a professional left-back must happen to an end this summer if they can take care of to agree a cost with Brighton for Marc Cucurella.
The offensively-minded Spaniard seems a perfect match for City, and also our team know they possess the cash, but they have shown themselves over the last to become reluctant to spend what they believe to be actually an unreasonable cost for a transfer target.
Timo Werner
Thomas Tuchel has already removed one fizzling forward in Romelu Lukaku. If Timo Werner is upcoming, don't be at all shocked.
The versatile and also pacy Werner is actually, obviously, even more fit to Tuchel's design of play than Lukaku however it's very clear that the Germany global is actually lower than impressed along with his bit-part function at Stamford Bridge, particularly with a World Cup impending big coming up. Werner really wants frequent activity time and also he's certainly not promised any sort of under Tuchel.
The one noticeable challenge, obviously, would be actually the expense, provided Chelsea would be actually wanting to make back a notable portion of the ₤ 47.5 m ($ 57m) they spent RB Leipzig for the striker's services in 2020. It's challenging to picture any individual trudging up that type of cash for a gamer who has actually scored merely 10 Premier League objectives throughout 2 times.
Chelsea may be ready to some variety of finance offer, as they performed with Lukaku, as well as Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and also perhaps also Bayern may be actually available to delivering yet another forward on board just before the close of the home window. Newcastle as well as Juventus are additionally feasible locations.
Gini Wijnaldum
Only over a year ago, Gini Winjaldum was actually a principal at Liverpool. Today, he is excess to requirements at Paris Saint-Germain, having survived a miserable debut period at the Parc des Princes. The Dutchman is, therefore, expected to leave behind in the happening full weeks, more than likely on loan, along with Roma stated to be leading the pursuit for his signature.
Memphis Depay
Tumblr media
It's crystal clear that Memphis Depay is actually excess to needs at Barcelona. Robert Lewandowski will certainly be actually leading Xavi's attack next period and also he's very likely to be actually flanked by yet another brand new arrival in Raphinha, and either January signing Ferran Torres or Ousmane Dembele, that has actually simply authorized an arrangement expansion.
At 28 years of age, as well as along with the World Cup appearing, Depay will plainly would like to be playing regularly rather than warming up the bench at Camp Nou. Barca, at the same time, will obviously like to create some amount of money on a player they don't need.
A come back to the Premier League need to not be concluded out for the previous Manchester United opponent.
Victor Osimhen
Napoli firmly insist that Victor Osimhen is actually not for purchase, and the Nigeria global says that he enjoys in a city that has actually welcomed him like a son.
Nightclub legends Lorenzo Insigne, Dries Mertens as well as Kalidou Koulibaly have actually actually left during a summer season of real discontent at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
It will be completely reasonable if Osimhen, that is actually commonly pertained to as one of the very most impressive assailants in European soccer, dreads that a group that dealt with for the Scudetto last time will certainly be actually lowered to Serie A also-rans in 2022-23.
A serious promotion coming from among Europe's best will plainly test the 23-year-old's devotion to the reason, as well as no question be truly contemplated by Napoli head of state Aurelio De Laurentiis, who has never ever feared to make out of favor selections, as he is actually once more confirmed throughout the off-season.
Milan Skriniar InterGetty
Milan Skriniar
Beppe Marotta was once again being hailed as the professional of the move market after managing to re-sign Romelu Lukaku on lending a year after marketing him to Chelsea for ₤ 97.5 m ($119m). The reality is that the Inter CEO is having to work miracles considering that the club's economic scenario continues to be risky.
They had an offer agreed along with Torino for Bremer yet as quickly as Juventus entered the fray, Inter were actually unable to contend monetarily. They likewise shed free of charge representative Paulo Dybala to Roma due to their recurring attempts to produce space in their allocate the Argentine, that was actually interested to produce what would certainly have been actually a debatable switch from Juventus.
The significant concern right now is that regardless of overlooking out on two transactions aim ats, Inter will still must sell some of their very most valued properties so as to enhance somewhere else, and also Milan Skriniar has actually been continuously related to a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.
The already-irate enthusiasts are actually determined for the Slovakia centre-back to remain at San Siro yet, immediately, it's difficult to know what will definitely take place following at Inter, given their Chinese proprietors' pandemic-related financial problems.
Shot in the dark is actually installing that PSG are readying to produce their relocation.
Our experts recognize that Ronaldo desires out. He's additionally made it very clear to his managers that he performs not believe that United are qualified of testing for the Premier League title next time. Ronaldo has actually additionally previously dealt with to push his method out of a group only prior to the shut of the summer window, at Juventus last year.
He has actually reconstructed his reputation as one of Brazil's many gifted midfielders at Lyon and also is actually right now being actually linked along with another big-money move, this time to Arsenal.
Now, he is actually excess to demands at Paris Saint-Germain, having actually sustained a disappointing debut time at the Parc des Princes.

Hello! Once you get this you have to answer with 5 things you like about yourself, publicly, then send this on to 10 of your favourite followers (non- negotiable, positivity is super cool!)
Hello! Aaa this is super cute, thank you :)
1. My love for animals, which is reflected in my degree (Zoology), my compassionate diet (vegan), and a possible career path. I’m going to be volunteering at a local animal park, which will maybe help me decide if animal care is something I would like to do in the future. Also I love having this blog to see lots of lovely ratties and show you my own! :3
2. I can speak two languages (English and Spanish) because I moved to Spain when I was 7 until I was 18. I can also understand some French, Portuguese, Italian and Catalan bc of their similarity to Spanish lol
3. I am lgbt+, which I am proud of and happy about in many ways, even though part of my identity gets a lot of hate on this website.
4. My sense of humour. I find pretty much anything funny, as long as it’s not racist, sexist etc. This means that I can laugh along with pretty much everyone, which I like. I also love memes.
5. Same goes for my taste in music. I can appreciate most genres (though I struggle with things too electronic or stuff like R&B or Rap) which means I’ll probably have something in common with most people.
Thanks for the ask! :D
