hs1 was like a fun, corny college tv sitcom that tapped way too much on the cringe side of storytelling and it showed the characters having fun at school while also complaining about how hard being a student is because the teachers are shit. hs2 was like the characters of hs1 facing the real world by getting a job and having responsibilities and seeing them become more miserable by the minute, yet they're still friends (kinda) and see each other from time to time. hsr is the spinoff of that same story about that strange background character that didn't even appear on the show, yet everybody mentioned them at some point which surprisingly attracted too many fans just to discover she has depth and an insane amount of lore. in the end, people only remember the spinoff because it came out way later than the other ones, so it had a better production and direction team and better screenwriters lol. abh is just a random show from the same production company that wasn't doing numbers and it was only being kept afloat due to the actors being hot, so they decided to start hinting about its connection to the main saga...

...they'll most likely make a movie in the near future with all the mcs together as the protagonists as fan service, and it'll become the best-selling production of that company.

Later, Lane thinking about Audrey and Astrea:

So, Cain’s job was to spread the influence of the Cult in one city - that’s probably why the author said he knew a lot about the kinds of rituals the Cult uses, if I’m remembering that little ‘hint’ right; Idr where I read that, though, an interview or what. As for Felonia, her job—unsurprisingly I guess, given her specialty with it—was to hunt down and kill Order members, while searching for the Book among them…

Siberia Base got the Book instead, and then - somehow learning Lane had translated some of it - abducted Lane and forced her to work for them (I still think my theories that one or both of her parents were from the Order, found out about her translation somehow, reported it and basically sent her away themselves, + that she and Yan were kept as babies because the Order knew the Chosen One would be born within one of their bloodlines, makes sense). Lane is working at Siberia for at least enough time to build up a muscular physique and get used to the lifestyle and people there, but then starts to sense the darkness (hearing the call?). We don’t know if the night or day of the collapse was actually the moment this began occurring for her. We do know that many or even all of the Order members seemed to have gotten called by darkness. My theory that all ‘chosen ones’ get called by ‘good and evil’ to choose a side relates to this about the Order, and the hint Cain either intentionally (pretty likely) or inadvertently gave Lane, when he said humans like to think there are chosen ones among them, some choose the side of God, and some the devil.

So, now I’m thinking about a number things:

1. Order members seem to be only from the bloodlines of the original Order members - a group of humans Sepha entrusted the Book of humanity’s salvation from the apocalypse with. This is why, in S1, it’s stated it’s incredibly hard to join the organization (I forgot the exact ep).

2. Yan’s father was apparently awful, and Portia - not an Order member? I’m not sure, although she was very familiar with all the security in the secret base of her husband’s branch, even how to get into their vault - recognized his member card, if that is what it is, which was passed on to Yan, though she didn’t seem to have one. It didn’t seem the man wanted a child ever, but he ‘raised’ Yan still, even passing membership to Yan despite not approving of his son. Why? Why Yan specifically, when he didn’t know anything of the Order, yet Portia couldn’t get membership, despite being trusted like one?

3. If the Order members are indeed all from special bloodlines, and that’s why only their children can be official members—hence why either Yan’s father or Portia’s husband tried to recruit Boris, even with his grandfather once betraying them and the Order assassinating like 95% of his family—are these bloodlines unique specifically due to having immortal or ‘fallen angel’ ancestry? It’s explained in HS1 that even many, many generations later, power resides in the bloodline if a ‘fallen angel’ was a part of it. Sepha entrusted the Book only to the humans, knowing that immortals may interfere - apparently; Idr where Lane got this, but she’s thinking over the details in the latest episodes, and this is one of the points she notes. If this is the case, what happened to the immortals he trusted to ‘deliver’ the Book to the Order?

3B. Is this why fallen angels were mentioned in S1, although the topic’s never been revisited?

4. Were all the immortals part of this mission angels? It’s not stated. But of course, nobody we’re getting the perspective of or the details from knows the specifics, so. If they were all angels - which makes sense, w/ Sepha’s Thing about the dangers of darkness and the good in the light - that could explain why ‘chosen ones’ are described as being called by both sides, yet only Lane is actually Sepha’s Chosen; because it’s the light energy that’s already passed down the bloodlines that ‘calls’ them to “God’s side.” This ‘call of light’ probably granted them some protection/resistance from the darkness, and that may be why Sepha had made this a thing.

5. What would be the purpose of this energy? Why have it be passed down at all? Not every immortal that loses their wings and lives with humans on Earth is punished - I learned this on Dino’s romance route in HS1 - so did they have children, then just return alone to Heaven? Or were they teaching Order members how to use abilities, like Yan’s enhancements? Was all this training, and possibly knowledge, meant to be used to teach the Chosen One, the Savior? If so, is this Yan’s purpose, which his father came to realize, despite Yan not having been taught what he needs to know, and that’s why fate’s led him to Lane? Did Yan’s father believe Yan would ‘fulfill his destiny’ even not knowing his ‘heritage’? And of course it would be working, like how the card he inherited did help them - as mentioned in a path-specific scene in HS1, Sepha doesn’t control fate, and it(?) decides things on it’s own. So it’s guiding Yan, then?? Yan’s abilities match Lane’s on VoG, and VoG!Lanes can activate the Spear, but not WotD. So is he supposed to teach Lane to be like him??? How to use her abilities, to fight the darkness?

6. Will Yan’s card serve any other purpose? If he’s meant to be the one teaching her, why isn’t he—because she needs to translate the Book first? Why did he want to help with that, in the first place? Yes, it makes sense, if it’s all due to fate, but what made Yan himself think to do so? What does he know, how has fate steered him to wanting to translate the Book?—Oh. Oh. The raven first shows up in S1E1, at the very start, which means Yan was nearby? Why, exactly? Was he following the raven? If he was nearby, he heard about the Book…?

7. So that’s the raven’s purpose in all this? Is the raven fate’s helper, it’s ‘hands’ to weave? But then why does it only help if you choose it has intelligent eyes? Although, free-will exists. Hence Lane not fulfilling her (offered) destiny on WotD (according to my theory, related to why the Spear doesn’t activate if not on VoG).

8. Obviously if fate is involved to this degree, we can then be sure Cain feeling Lane gives his existence purpose is because she literally does, which means Abel is similarly tied into all this by fate, as is the power which was meant for him and Cain ended up carrying. We still don’t know what this is. Is it meant to be returned to Abel and help him fight the darkness with the Savior? Did Sepha decide it was “meant for” Abel? Could it be shared between Anhea and Pileon so they’re strong enough to fight, too?

Not the same anon but I saw the latest hsr confession and I was baffled with the responses. I see the sidelining with poc LIs and fem LIs in only 1 month after reading some stories. Like it's there. IT'S BLATANT and people want to pass it off as a coincidence??? Idk about the Vincent and Greg drama, if there's any, but nobody talked about the memory wiping scene with Raphael???? When I read the scene I was like "why did he do that? Why would he hurt MC even if he meant well??". Only for MC to gain it back later. Yes, I understand that the hsr and abh author are new to the game so i can see why they're still struggling with pacing, plot, etc but i have to admit the fandom reactions to poc LIs aren't that good either.

I heard Shen was seen as a red flag or a bad person at some point because how cold he was in the beginning of wtc. Same with Cassiel. Meanwhile people would defend Amen for his murderous tendency and forgive Boris for killing people. Yes both are/were hunters and they're meant to kill in both stories. Does anyone see the pattern? Like, holy crap, it doesn't take a genius to see that and yet people choose to ignore it. IT. WAS. THERE. The authors subtly gave you hints/clues of who they are and yet most people want to be blissfully ignorant about it. It's okay to like antagonistic or villain LIs but don't tell other people what to feel about those LIs and gaslight them if those people don't like the LIs.

Well, now that we've got some actual food in us and the pain has.. Somewhat subsided (after this ask, I'm grabbing the compression gloves again), now we're thinking about prompts and writing ideas. Also Assassins Callings. Mainly Assassins Callings in relation to Edge of Midnight, because there are a couple of ways that could go down:

Regardless, I would like for it to go through Jericho and/or Virgil to give every player a chance of being "the assassin of the group". Going based off the main seven (Nikkie, Kelsey, Mace, Derek, Mikey, Richie, and Andy), each person has a character being the central focus of their group. There are, however, only 6 main line campaigns, not including Saltmarsh, Fleenflel, or Stardust Rhapsody despite all of them taking place within the same universe/time line.

×Mace and Nikkie have Icebound with Taishen and Queenie.

×Kelsey has Curse of Strahdanya with Victoria.

×Beneath Dark Wings is given to Derek with Caprice, and also ties into..

×Edge of Midnight, as Mikey has it with Jericho/Virgil, as well as hints of Richie with Briggsy

×However, Richie's truly belongs to Once Upon a Witchlight with Kremy, with minor Derek with Frost

×Which leads to "present day", or Prime, as Andy with Vandrys. As well as a more prominent Nikkie with Sylvie.

I still need to watch the campaigns to truly figure out more and not spoil myself searching through the wiki.

But also, as a cool and notable of why Nikkie and Andy with Prime: they are in every main line campaign, as a DM or as a PC. And, actually, with the ones previously excluded, Andy is the only one within each campaign (and Richie too, but Producer Rick is kind of a given).

In terms of, and for, Edge of Midnight, I'm still going through and watching both that and Beneath Dark Wings to get a better grasp at Virgil, and figure out Jericho's backstory (whatever bits I haven't found out already, at least). However, I do feel like: Jericho's a little braver here, a little more bold. Not brash and dumb, and nowhere near knightly, but he's able to swing around a hand sickle with much more dexterity, slip off without too much noise, much more easier. But how, you may ask? Through Virgil.

Virgil was taught by Caprice in private when he wasn't a crow, and still retains that knowledge to, not only respect it and the craft and callings but to, pass it on as knowledge of his own.

Briggsy, I feel like since he's a pirate and all, learned about ghost stories and tales of the ABH Chrysoprase and respected them as Beast Hunters, without knowing the full truth of the matter.

Greenwood to leave United

17 months after his initial suspension and arrest by Greater Manchester Police, we finally have confirmation from both Manchester United and Mason Greenwood himself that the player will NOT be returning.

Mason Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of assault in January 2022 and detained for 72 hours for interrogation by Greater Manchester Police before being released on bail with the condition of avoiding contact with his accuser.

Fast forward to October 2022 and Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, coercion, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH). He was also arrested that month for breaching his bail conditions.

In February of this year the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) dropped the case, citing key witnesses withdrawing (potentially the victim) and new evidence (the pregnancy?). From this point, Mason Greenwood stayed suspended pending an investigation by United.

That investigation catastrophically announced two weeks ago that it was waiting on the women's team players away with England for their say before deciding. Cue social spam from 'fans' pestering and harassing Toone, Earps and Zelem to back Greenwood's return - often 'or else'.

Last week then saw an almost-statement, which hinted heavily at a return. This was immediately followed by an article from The Athletic who stated that CEO Richard Arnold had already forewarned staff at United that Greenwood WAS returning in the next fortnight.

It's at this point that I pause and state that I am biased. My previous piece on Greenwood gave the game away there, but it is what it is. I do not want Greenwood to return to United. I am glad he is not returning.

I'm fine with second chances, and forgiveness from his partner (if they've legitimately made up), but he needs to be punished for what he did and for bringing the club into disrepute. Leaving the club is fair punishment.

I do not buy this nonsense that there's more context to the victim's social media posts. You do not catch abuse on the fly. You have to have a rough idea of a pattern of behaviour, and he was caught. Dead to rights. Similarly, the police cannot hold a person beyond 24 hours without magistrates giving permission in a court - and they only do that if the evidence is VERY strong.

I can believe what Arnold said in his email to fans, that the victim wanted to retract her accusations as of April 2022. We also know Greenwood HAD to have breached his bail terms and seen her, because their baby was born in July (thus conceived in October when arrested for the breach). Maybe things have been patched up for a while, we don't know. What we do know is that a man committed criminal acts and is fortunate enough to have been paid a massive salary and not to have gone to prison.

Greenwood is a talent and will continue to have a professional career. Maybe people will in time forget but in the here and now he has to face some consequence and leaving United is it. It's just a shame how it came about from the club's side, but that's a deep dive for another day...

Makeup for Magick/Ritual p4: Litha - The Summer Solstice

Now that I no longer feel like lifeless goop, lets get this show back n the road! Litha! I originally waited so long to write this back in June because I was waiting for the Summer Goth Palette from Baby Bat Beauty to show up (it's even got a shade named Litha!). The have cool highlighters and the few metallic/shimmer single shadows I tried were good, but that palette was a nah.

Anyway, Litha, the Summer Solstice. The longest day and shortest night of the year, where we honor the Sun at it's highest point of power. At the same time, we honor the water as this is the time of year when we are drawn most to it, whether we're drinking it (stay hydrated!) or swimming in it. Yellows, bright golds, warm orange-reds, and blue/sea blues are good colors to reach for. However, bright rainbow colors carry over from Beltane. Think of the Sun's bright light filtering through a prism in a window and scattering rainbows all over the room.

The warm nude and rainbow palettes of Beltane are still in play, so I wont be including them in the list. Not my best photo shoot...

First! Tarte!

Tartelette Toasted Palette - It's really the perfect palette for that orange-red, fiery-nude, sun-scorched eye look that seems to be so popular at Litha (on social media, at least).

Be A Mermaid and Make Waves Palette - Fun fact, you can still buy this palette on the Tarte website, but you gotta use the search bar to find it. A good chunk of these shades a rose/nude rose shade of some kind, but no surprise. It's Tarte. HOWEVER! Some of the shimmers in this palette 1) would be really nice for a solstice eye look and 2) are just really pretty in general. "Shell Yeah" and "Mermosa" if you're leaning towards more Sun worship. "Lagoon", "Splash", and "Bubbles" are great for a look leaning more towards water and the sea. "Splash" and "Bubbles" are duochromes that make for a really nice single shadow look, as well.

BH Cosmetics is next!

Hangin' in Hawaii - One of the first Travel Series palettes I bought, specifically for the purpose of being my "light and airy" summer nudes palette. Is it my favorite BH palette? No, but I figured I'd toss it in.

Summer in St. Tropez - If you have this palette, you can definitely get a somewhat decent sun/water eye look from it. Maybe play with the two topper shades up in the top row to add something to it.

Trendy in Tokyo - Obligatory rainbow palette. Mhmm.

Chillin' in Chicago - Now called Amore in Amalfi, because BH are a bunch of cheeky little shites. This palette can lean Summer or Fall, depending on what other palette you pair it with. If you don't want to drop a crap ton of money on the Tartelette Toasted palette, this can give you a somewhat similar look. They're not dupes, not by a long shot, but they can give you that similar "sun-scorched" vibe.

Mimosa - If you already have this, you can get a good summer-sun yellow-orange look out of it.

Now for Give Me Glow!

Summer Vibes - This is an amazing go-to summer palette, solstice and beyond. Summery neutrals, sunny yellows and oranges, and a couple of nice ocean-blues. The metallic blue, "Summer Fling", has a really nice "Sun reflecting on the ocean" look to it. A bunch of the shades make great summer blushes too. If this palette is every discontinued, I'm buying backups!

Pastel Dreams - These brighter pastels can give off "sun bleached" vibes. Just as appropriate as bright rainbow colors.

Extra Spicy - Perfect for a brighter, more fiery-sun look.

Time for Juvia's Place!

The Masquerade Mini - The blues and green-blue in the top row, paired with the warm brown in the bottom two rows can make a decent "seashore" look that I like on solstice, usually with a pop of yellow in the inner corner.

The Zulu - A more summery rainbow palette. The turquoise shades are beauty!

The Afrique - Obligatory rainbow palette with a nice pop of gold.

The Saharan II - Does the same "Seashore" type of look as Masquerade, except you can go lighter. If I had to make a list of favorite summer palettes, this would be on it.

And now, ABH and Norvina!

Norvina Pro Pigment Palette Vol 2 - A decent amount of blues and couple of yellows if that's what your missing in your solstice look.

ABH Modern Renaissance - When I paired the matte pinky-reds with the gold shimmer, the first thing I thought was "Midsummer Fairy". And so, it made the list.

ABH Rivera - The colors in this palette lean more sun-bleached than a typical colorful palette. And again, I consider it appropriate for the sabbat.

"Our lord and savior, ColourPop!" - Theresa is Dead

Limoncello - It's yellow-toned neutral palette with a pop of green and a pop of blue. If you're leaning towards a more yellow-sun look, it's great! but if you wanna make a water-blue look, you're gonna need another palette. It's so damn pretty though. And the shade "Easy Peasy" is a dupe for the duochrome in the Natasha Denona Zendo palette.

Yes, Please! - I'd say stick to the first three columns for sunny, fiery Litha goodness, and pull in the last darker column for Mabon, but that's just me.

Dream St. - You know those scenes in movies, where they're trying to convey how sweltering hot it is by putting a sorta sepia filter over everything, and filming it through the heat waves coming off of the hood of a truck? Yeah, that's this palette. It always gave off that sort of summer vibe to me. So in the "sun-scorched" category, I guess?

As for specific CP monochromatic palettes; Blue Moon and Uh-Huh Honey are excellent blue and yellow palettes for water and sun looks. Also, fuck that yellow pressed glitter.

On to the solo palettes!

Urban Decay Beached Palette - Though it's got a couple ocean blues, it's better for the sun-scorched eye look.

Glamlite Ice Cream Dream Palette - A brighter pastel rainbow palette, and some shades can read 'sun-bleached", so that works great!

Too Faced Life's a Festival Palette - A bunch of fun, summery duochromes and shimmers, though the more yellow "Fun in the Sun" and "Beamin'" would be the ones I reach for for Litha.

Do you think that Seb really has that much star power to bring Alejandra? Idk, Ellie was with him and you don’t see her career all that much better (not that they dated for PR), but I don’t think she’s gonna get “the push” that maybe Eliza is getting from Timothee. She’ll probably just get a bigger star or a ABH palette.

I mean he can probably introduce her to people in LA. It’s not always about being on the front pages, introductions in LA can be worth a lot. Also if Alejandra has a US project in the works (which she hinted was her goal back in March) her team might want her with a known US actor.

Lainey's been dropping some hints on stuff she needs and wants like ABH palettes (even though she has the ABH soft glame palette that her 18 yr old friend Sara sent and all the Hush dupes of ABH), Sperry's (to go with her pretty boy, yacht outfit from her Androgynous Summer Lookbook), make-up brushes, highlighters, Farsali oil primers, and the list goes on.

The last palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills that I’m testing out is the internet’s favorite palette Modern Renaissance. If you have read my last two reviews on the ABH palettes, this is a brand I have always wanted to try but never had. Including going so far as finding dupes so I could have something similar to the original palettes. Though I still had the real ones on my wishlist. My sister has gotten into makeup, and ended up getting three of the ABH palettes and is letting me play with them so I can figure out if I actually want to get them or take them off of my wishlist. I know a lot of people online have given some of the palettes raving reviews and others total flops (hint, hint Subculture).

Similar to other ABH palettes this one costs $42 with each shade (14 in total) containing 0.02 oz of product. Which is a pretty standard amount for eyeshadow in a pan. Like their other palettes it includes a double-ended brush, velvet packaging, and a large mirror. Another thing to note is the velvet packaging is not going to stay clean and nice forever. It’s going to grab any fall out and cling to it. So while it looks stunning all together, it’s going to get grimy and gross not too long afterwards. With no way to really clean off the packaging. So if you don’t like palettes looking dirty, this isn’t the packaging for you. So either depot it, don’t get it, or deal with it.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette is your neutral and berry tones palette. This is my version of a fall palette dream since I live in berry tones and bronzes during the fall season… or really all year round. I recently did a review on a dupe for this palette, the Wet n Wild Rose in the Air palette which has almost every shade from this palette but for way less. Now that I actually have my paws on this palette, I have to say I prefer the original to the dupe though I still like that other palette as well. I just like the quality of this one more plus you get a mirror, a dual-ended brush, and more shades.

Thoughts on the Formula

Since this is the first time I’ve ever touched an ABH palette. I find the formula quite interesting. There is a lot of kick back in the pan, but the shadows are extremely pigmented I do have to say the metallic shadows are very buttery to the touch which I love in a metallic. And they blend out without issues on the lid so that can be over looked. Just be careful so you don’t get the shadow all over the place. And word of advice for the metallics, do not apply with a finger it sticks to your finger and doesn’t pass over to your lids. Which is something different for me when applying a metallic. But that’s just the formula, so I’m not going to fault it for needing a different type of application. Overall, I love the formula of this palette.

This is the last palette my sister got, and I have to say I want them all for myself. And I’m probably going to get the Subculture and Prism palette as well knowing they did update the formula or something so there’s less kickback/fall out. I don’t know if it will perform like these three palettes but testing these out makes me really want to get them since they are shadows that I seriously want. I have loved playing with the dupe version of that palette and it’s one I reach for daily. So I know if I had the original depending on how it performed I would do the same with that one all of the time.
